Like a hot knofe through butte
It’s heavy and you will need some strength if you are using this to trim tall hedges. That to one side, it easily handled some quite tough hedge trimming business and we are very pleased with this purchase. We were quoted 200 to have our hedges trimmed. Managed to do the work with this hedge trimmer in just over an hour. And then we did our neighbours hedge. The battery lasted for both jobs on one charge.
Easy to use
Easy to use, but a bit on the heavy side
Not very powerful
I liked the ability to reach awkward and out of reach areas. But the motor needs to be much faster to do anything worthwhile.
Well buil
Have only used this for one small hedge so far but not too heavy and battery seems to Be lasting well
WHY SHOULD I BE SURPRISED?
A confession first. I have Bosch appliances out the wazoo. Washer. Dryer. Stove. Dishwasher. Circular saw. Drill. Hedge trimmer. What was that last one again? Why, you might ask, would I have considered buying another hedge trimmer. Especially one with a new all-in-one battery pack which fuels NONE of its more ancient brethren. Well, my hedges have grown over the 32 years I have resided here in Kew. To such an extent that my last trip up the ladder to clip them with my trusty Bosch clippers had me thinking the next trip up would be to A&E. This in addition to getting quotes for trimming the maple tree and a full-on professional clip. Double the price of this product.
So I bought them. They are easy to use, easy to store, and after the first usage, have meant to my astonishment that the ladder will not be required. I also feel that because of the leverage I shall get a good workout without having the precarious balance and reach.
For the low hanging bushes, I will continue to use the old one.
An excellent product. And I trimmed the maple no problem. Kudos.
Superb
Having struggled to keep my 10′ high tree in shape using ladders and hand held shears and such i wish i had seen and bought this from Bosch ages ago. It is a little heavy but to be expected really. Not a negative at all. Made really well. So, it only took 5 minutes to trim my tree using it and no ladders. Perfect. I cannot wait for it to grow again so i can trim it some more!
Lightweight Bosch telescopic hedge trimme
Not really used it properly as it needed to be charged only arrived a couple days ago so just tried it on the tops of hedge very impressed, lightweight which is exactly as I wanted it to be. Would definitely recommend and buy this product again.
Really pleased with this trimmer.
Really pleased with this wish we had bought one before. So convenient to get out and use, fairly heavy but much quieter than our electric trimmer. Keep the batteries in doors charged up so always ready for use. Doesn’t cut thicker branches but it is a trimmer not a chain Saw! Used mainly to control conifers and shrubs.
Worth every penny!
I have a corded normal hedge trimmer and doing the hedges which are over 2m high and 1m deep in some place has been back braking and sometimes dangerous work that took up to 3hrs. Charged this new battery extended trimmer up in 30 minutes and spent two hours from front to back pulling the hedges right back after crazy growth recently. It cuts through thick branches but does need a few moments to get through. It’s heavy enough on your arms after a while but the strap really helps. Recommend spending few minutes working out how to leverage the strap for each new cutting angle you will use. Also found it really handy to change the head angle plenty as I was able to cut all of the top and back side of hedges really well by changing it. I knew one of these would make life much easier and save all the bee stings I usually get whilst at the top of my ladder trying to reach tricky spots. No cable means you can walk around and check your work often without having to move cables that get tangled in the hedge. Extremely happy with what I read before buying to actual result using it. Highly recommend for those with tall or wide hedges that grow fast. It’s hard work so do expect to need good upper body strength to use.
Amazon warehouse goods. Big thumbs up!
Bought this long reach hedge cutter telly cheap from Amazon and didn’t know what to expect. I needn’t have worried though, I tv was as good as new and a whole lot cheaper than new. Thanks Amazon!
Wand needs to be a bit lighter & shorter but still does a good job
Does a great cutting job but wand is a little long for a 5′ 5″ woman. So i have a bit of a scabble getting to the trigger. Its also a lite heavy and also heavy on use of the battery but I still like i
Bit heavy
Bit heavy but apart from that very good, bought a 3ah battery to go with it which was pricey 40,wish l ordered battery with it, never mind very happy
More versatile than a corded hedge trimme
I have quite a high and deep laurel hedge around three sides of my garden and have been quoted as much as 600 to have it trimmed, so purchasing my own hedge trimmer was a no brainer. I do have a corded hedge trimmer which performs well but is awkward and restrictive with a cord and an extension necessary to reach the rear of the hedge.
This cordless trimmer is more versatile and efficient in reaching he high points and enabling cutting from both sides. Its not unduly heavy to operate, though obviously you take the task in stages. The battery life is adequate and I have purchased a spare battery, and have them charged up ready. No real complaints, nothing that would make me think twice about buying again.
Don't fall off the ladder!
This is a lot safer than climbing up steps or ladders to cut back hedges and bushes. I’m not going to say easier because after 20 minutes of using this at full extension, even with the shoulder strap, my arms felt like they were on fire. Standard power to cut wood about 3cm thick if you’re persistent and an excellent range. The cutting head pivots both ways which is useful. Arrived with a good charge in the battery and assembled in minutes.
The product seems well built, the cordless works well, the battery power lasts and does everything the manufacturer’s claim so I have given it 4 stars. However the product is of limited use. Some of my comments
probably apply to most long handled hedge trimmers. I bought it to cut a 5 meter high hedge. Standing on the lower rungs of a step ladder and with the blades pointing straight up I can just about reach the top but it becomes tiring after a short while. The hedge had a year’s growth and it cut this with no difficulty however if there was 2 years or more growth then I think it would struggle. When I adjusted the head to 90 degrees to cut the top of the hedge I lost about 2 feet in length so had to go further up the step ladder and the trimmer felt a lot heavier and difficult to use . As the hedge was wider than the trimmer blades I had to get my extension ladder out and cut the top with extending hand shears; whilst I was up the ladder I might just as well cut the hedge with my normal hedge trimmer! It becomes particularly useful where I could not use the extension ladder for example cutting the hedge immediately behind a shed. It is therefore not a complete solution to cutting a high hedge but a “useful additional tool to have in the toolbox” . It is also good for cutting stand alone trees/bushes up to about 2.5 metres such as Leylandi and Laurel; also Ivy, Honeysuckle growing up walls as I do not have to get the ladder out..
Pretty decent.
The battery life was better than expected, I already have two of the batteries with my drill and only used one to cut a lot of hedges.
This is ideal for long reach, light trimming. It won’t cut thick branches.
You need some strength to hold it up high as it’s pretty top heavy.
All in all I’m happy with the purchase.
GREAT TRIMMER
This strimmer is perfect for those with large or small gardens. Quite lightweight and certainly does the job. Would highly recommend.
Not as powerful as a petrol trimme
Struggles with the thicker branches, and the battery life isn’t brilliant, however, with the second battery, it can finish the job nicely.
Well made and a great tool in your garde
I was a little nervous about buying this as I wondered if the fact that it is battery powered would effect it’s cutting power. I must say that an electric or petrol driven power tool would be more effective but that said this model does do a decent job. I have now used it around 3 or 4 times on my Holly Hedges which are quite difficult to cut. The tool does quite a good job and the battery lasts for ages before it needs topping up. The weight is a bit of an issue with all of these power tools however, I believe that this model and make is probably the lightest available.
Easy to use
Very handy tool to have, makes jobs in the garden easy.
Good quality cordless hedge trimme
Not too heavy considering battery, cutters etc and shoulder strap is useful. Very easy to use and no problem cutting through the branches we have. Battery life is ok and at least it can be used with other Bosch power tools.
Great Way To Cut The High Ones
I loathe standing on steps or ladders to clip annual growth. This clipper has enabled me to do all of the trimming in my garden (up to 3 meters up) with ease. Although light, it can begin to feel a little heavy after a few minutes but a brief rest and I’m back cutting again: so much easier and safer than getting out steps and wobbling about on them.
No problems
Telescope very long, not too heavy, I can easily trim the top of my large bushes. The head tilts to distinct angles which is also handy.
Light garden work only!!
For light garden work only. A thousand miles different from a 2 stroke version.
Disappointed.
Work grea
Quite heavy but otherwise very easy to use. It let me do a decent job of tidying up our hedge and trees. Importantly it is really simple to put together and use and charges quickly. It is helping me to win my war against my mortal enemy- the creeping thistle vine that keeps invading my garden!
Versatile and worth the extra expense
I bought this in addition to the standard Bosch trimmer because l have high sections of hedge and it uses a common Bosch battery. It is a very versatile device, does the job and packs away quite neatly. Do buy the oil at the same time.
Excellent battery life
This copes very well with a tall long hedge in my garden and the 2 batteries I have lasted long enough to finish the job. It may not be light enough for elderly people though and it will not tackle thick branches but is perfect for hedge trimming.
Cordless Hedge trimme
I bought this to stop me from me having to hang off Steps to cut bushes, very effective and sharp, only down side is that is quite heavy at full extension even using the shoulder strap, but i dont have to use that often to be fair.
Hedge trimme
Ok product
Slightly heavy and no handle to hold on toon the left hand side.
I now have a mini collection of Bosch 18V Cordless tools and 3 batteries so I can start to reap the economic rewards of buying bare tools … plus the 3 batteries give me an operating window of up to an hour.
This Cordless Telescopic Hedge Trimmer is perfect for my garden as I have a number of hedges and bushes that can now be trimmed without having to worry about cords or steps.
The strap is useful, especially when extending to full reach as it can start to feel a little heavy.
Obviously the trimmer is not as powerful as my corded trimmer, but for my needs, it does a really good job.
Happy to recommend, especially if you manage to build up a small collection and can then utilise the versatility of having multiple batteries.
It’s ok!
I found this more cumbersome to use than a standard hedge trimmer hardly surprising really, great not having to use my steps on uneven ground though. Seems to cut my privet hedge fine, my mixed hedge which contains pyrocanthus, honeysuckle and a couple of unknowns not quite so well, but it does work though.
Pole hedge cutte
Absolutely a must havre for the high hedge. Made lighter work of the job this time. Wouldn’t be without this tool now.
Does the job in half the time
Bought for my husband. He’s really pleased with it. Makes cutting our very high hedges much easier and a lot quicker He finds it slightly heavy but he’s 73! I’m sure it’d be fine for a younger man.
very sharp so be extremely careful when handling
eally good tool very sharp made me realise i had to sharpen my smaller ones.Easily adjustable length and angle of cut,but it is quite heavy when fully extended so beware.
Reliable Bosch as usual.
Excellent tool which is heavy and awkward to use but I guess they all are after 20 minutes.
A lot of kit for the money.
Easy assembly, seems durable. Uses Bosch 18v All 4 one batteries. Recommended.
Well designed and very effective hedge trimmer.
Easy to assemble and convenient to use. The adjustable cutting head and the telescopic pole enable me to cut hedges with height of about eight or nine feet while standing safely on the ground, the main reason why I bought it. Being over 60 my endurance is less than that of the battery!
very good reach and battery life
It took a bit of getting used to. I had not used one with a shoulder strap before, and using it without the shoulder strap, my arms were getting tired after 15- 20 minutes use. Once I had got the strap set up correctly, I have since used it for over an hour without any problem. The battery lasts around 80-90 minutes fully charged and takes less than an hour to fully recharge from flat. It has a very good reach and the cutting blade can be angled. I have used it on a step ladder without any problem.
charge
WHY DO THESES’S BL–DY GARDEN TOOL HAVE TO A DIFFRENT BATTERY TO BOSCH POWER TOOLS I.E DRILLS ECT
Excellent product worth every penny
Brilliant product easier to use than our previous electric long pole cutter. Managed to cut front privet hedge (50 ft long) and also side hawthorn hedge (70ft long) which took about two and a quarter hours run time, battery was still going strong when finished. Husband was a little sceptic at first as to whether the battery would last but Bosch soon converted him.
Good quality
Good bit of kit works well and easy to use. The manual is poor and lacks any information on the correct spray to use on the blades and when you look it up is expensive to buy so be warned.
We have a garden that is not large, but it does have a smallish tree and loads of tall shrubs, Photinia etc. For the last few years we have paid a couple of chaps to come in at autumn and give everything a haircut. However, that was a fairly expensive exercise, (although they did make a good job of it). We were musing about buying some hedge trimmers, but short of tottering around on a ladder (holding a whirring dangerously sharp instrument) there is no way that we could possibly reach the top of our shrubs, tree etc. Then I chanced upon the concept of pole trimmers, which we had not heard of before (I lead a sheltered life :-)….. Hallelujah! We already have a couple of Bosch devices and 18V batteries, so could buy this trimmer without a battery and use the ones we already had.
When I assembled it I was surprised at how long it was, even with the extension pole on minimum and slightly concerned that my (slightly vertically challenged) wife would find it unwieldy and slightly heavy (which is probably how she describes me :-), but far from it, with the shoulder strap on, she happily chopped away at anything that dared to grow in an asymmetrical way. In our 60’s neither of us are exactly “spring chickens”, but we managed to wield this device and terrify the shrubs and trees with the whirring blades, without too much effort. Certainly with the pole extended, it will reach pretty much anything we need to prune, so win, win. I believe that Bosch offer a 5 year guarantee, which is another reason why we gravitated toward the brand. There are certainly other similar devices cheaper, but too often I have found “buy cheap, buy twice” to be true. The cutty business end can be angled to allow you to cut flat along the top of hedges or other shapey bits and there is a safely catch to prevent you accidentally giving your dog an unexpected haircut. Being cordless is a bonus, as all too often I have mowed cables in half and I believe a charged battery will allow you to trim 200 m2.
Wonderful product and it was delivered quickly.
A little heavy than I thought but it’s a real good produc
Excellent produc
Excellent product, very easy to use, trimmed cypress trees at 5 metre height with a total hedge length of 10 metres within an hour on a 2.0 amh battery. It is not the lightest of objects and my arms and shoulders did ache a little the following day, this I think is due to using it at its fullest length. It cut through branches of approximately 1 cm thickness easily. Overall it saved me a lot of money, I bought this trimmer ( I already had batteries) and a short scaffold tower for 197 . The tree surgeon wanted 360 for the job, I have the tools for the next five years at least so a massive saving .
Perfect for high hedges
Great quality as expected from Bosch , very good universal battery life. Doesn’t get blocked easily with thick branches, BUT , while perfect for high hedges it can not be used Without the extension pole makes it unpractical at all for low hedges. a bit heavy make it unstable to use and should have been provided with a shoulder strap as other less expensive models . The swivel head moves in one direction only and can’t turns in an angle
Fantastic Piece of Equipment.
Excellent product works like a dream only downside is that it is a little weighty that apart an excellent product at an excellent price especially when you can pay over 5 months at no extra cost as well as not having to sign any paperwork. TJ120.
Know battery or charger but I have them
Great product great VFM
And also qualifies for a 3 year guarantee
Online
Brilliant- delighted with choice
Already had Bosch battery from grass trimmer so bought with no battery. Therefore straight out of box was up and running within seconds of opening box. Easy assemble. Straight forward to use. Great produc
Excellent product made me 15 ft tall
Works really well and good for very hard to reach trees, expect a bit of weight from the middle as there is no other way to make a telescopic hedge trimmer. The better the battery you buy the longer it lasts, mine done about 3 hours on 2.0 amp battery
This is a superb, well designed and useful product that does exactly what it is supposed to. Forget comments such as “it’s not man enough”(whatever that means!), read the reviews and information before buying and above all use some common sense. It will not cut through branches of five years growth, but it will happily cut through one or maybe two years growth. The battery will not last for an hour or two, but maybe 20 minutes or so. It isn’t that heavy, but if you are a pensioner who is not too fit, it will make your arms ache, so use it for a few minutes at a time. It is not designed to trim a hugely long hedge, but it will slice through new growth easily. Recommended without hesitation.
Easy to use.
Not as powerful as a petrol-driven trimmer, but very convenient.
Good hedge trimmer but only for thin cuts
This is a good hedge trimmer as long as it’s just a light trimming needed. Anything thick can’t be cut by this but in combination with a chainsaw it works well.
Absolutely brilliant it is light weight and work brilliantly I would say though that because it is battery and not petrol you lose all the weigh at the bottom from the engine so it is very out of balance in weight as it is all at the top of the pole where the blade is and after 15 to 20 mins of use it feel the weight at the top and it can become hard to keep control. They could do with having a counter weight down near the battery to help with control
Great value
I have an old Bosch drill with a 1.5 battery so I thought it was worth trying this hedge trimmer. More than enough juice to do a 30ft yew hedge all round. I would be worn out before the battery gave up. Fairly easy to handle. Did an 8ft hedge from the ground. Glad I bought this as I was knackered after doing the hedge with shears previously.
Too heavy
Would have 5 stars but too heavy for prolonged use. Quality product though.
Better than mains Bosch
I have a standard 18v hedge trimmer with which I have been very satisfied and is still going strong after 10+ years.
I bought the 240v pole trimmer some years ago which I was very difficult to use. I expected the performance of this to be better than the battery version but it was not so.
In hope I ordered the battery pole trimmer, partly because I have several spare batteries and I have found Bosch tools generally very good. I tested it this morning in the rain and found it was the equal of the short 18v hedge trimmer thus I am very satisfied.
Great Produc
Easy to use on my overgrown shrub hedges even at winters damp weather. Great in that it uses the same batteries as my other Bosch power tools. I can use one of the other batteries to extend trimming time.
Interchangeable Batteries
This is another excellent product from Bosch. It allows us too reach the parts of our hedge that our other trimmer will not be able to reach. It came without batteries but I had a drill that uses the same batteries so I’m very pleased with that.
Good product but muscles required
Good piece of kit – reasonably powerful and easy to use. But beware it is quite heavy particularly when at full extensio
Good product. Top heavy.
Needs this for larger hedges.
Make no mistake it’s heavy. It’s too heavy when extended fully so ideally you should not be on a conventional ladder. I have a platform ladder which is fine on but ideally need someone around.
On the floor it’s fine (still heavy at full extension) but manageable.
Battery is very good so far (only had for 3m)
It does the job.
It’s not light, it’s not very easy to manover, but it will do the job of cutting those parts that other tools can’t reach.
A good long reach.
Gets a wee bit heavy when using at full stretch. But overall it’s very good.
Great hedge cutte
So much easier to use being battery powered, cuts up to size of pencil, used for well over an hour and battery still good. With all pole equipment a bit cumbersome to use so you have to work on technique.
Does the job
Easy to put together, can be tiring to use after 1/2 hou
little problem
metal clip for stap that connect to trimmer was broken can i get a replaceme
I had some concerns with this as I thought it would have been better with the 36V battery that I have for the cordless mower. It works well however, and I haven’t flattened a battery yet despite having five 10 foot conifers to trim. Lacks the power of the wired trimmers of course, but this is easily overshadowed by the convenience of cordless.
This can be a little difficult to wield, especially at full reach, I’d say that if you aren’t relatively fit you may struggle with it. Even with the strap, you are still countering the weight of the front cutter.
It could have done with a hook on the handle end, so that I can hang it up in the garage. currently I hang it with the power handle but this could result in some damage if you aren’t careful, it doesn’t feel particularity rugged.
I bought this because I have conifers trees over 4 metres tall and hedging that is over 2 metres wide in places. Standing on ladder stretching to reach these was becoming more precarious, so this was the perfect answer. I did first look at the Stihl cordless pole trimmers but the prices didn’t justify the amount of use I was going to get out of it.
Setting up is easy, you just join the top half which has the cutting blades to the bottom half that is the motor. After charging the battery just slide it on below motor and attach the carrying strap. Will say it is not the most powerful unit, struggles with anything thicker than your thumb but if you have a mature hedge and only cutting back yearly growth then it works well. The cutting head is great in that you can angle it nearly 90 degrees both ways, makes for an easier manoeuvring.
Didn’t give 5* on lightweight because you will feel it in your upper arms and body after using but it is more to do with the nature of the job than the unit being heavy.
Overall a great piece of kit for doing those hard to reach areas.
Excellent. Recommended for small to medium gardens.
Very good lightweight trimmer. Works very well and batteries seem to last for at least 30 minutes. I already had 2 of the “one for all” batteries and a charger with my Bosch reciprocating saw, so it is very convenient to use the same ones for both.
Well made equipment excellent being cordless.
Great bit of kit but you have to be quite fit and able to use it particularly if you have undulating ground etc, my hedges are about 6’6″ and it’s easier than reaching up.
This Bosch hedge trimmer was about as good as I expect. Not as good at cutting as mains powered trimmers I have used in the past, but a _little_ lighter and easier to manage for top of the hedge. The (new and freshly charged) battery lasts about half an hour. Safer than mains and quicker to get going (no lead). Cuts through some occasional new growth of about 1cm diameter. It becomes obvious when the battery is low because it struggles towards the end. Not particularly light after half an hour and the switch needs a full time firm grip to hold in the “on” state. On the whole I prefer to use a mains powered trimmer, this battery option has its advantages.
By comparison with a Von Haus hedge cutter that I bought and had to immediately return as it was not only short of a key part, and arrived dirty and in a scruffy box, this Bosch unit is in a different league, being very well made (and packaged) and does what it is supposed to do, cutting through my hawthorn hedge like a knife through butter. Yes, it can be a bit of a strain on the arms when fully extended, but cuts neatly and quickly. Control switches are easy to use. The shoulder strap is a useful addition, which one may need to adjust when using different lengths of extension. Battery life seems good, and it charges quickly. If you register the product with Bosch there is a three year guarantee.
Good piece of kit .
Quality written all over it , does everything it says on the tin ! I am 75 and can use this albeit in 10 min. bursts as it is not an especially light piece of kit . It does NOT have a handle loop on the pole , only a grip section , bad design decision . Good to be able to cut the top of a 2.5 m hedge without a pair of rickety steps . Quick to charge and long run time . I paid under 110.00 inc. battery & charger with Amazon , a good deal !
Thoroughly recommend but not for those with weak wrists or arm muscles .
Cutting edge tool
Bit of a dream machine. I have and use a petrol hedge trimmer that reaches up high but after a few minutes my arms start to feel the effort of the weight and moving it. Plus there is having to get petrol. I will still have to use the petrol one I’m sure but this is so light and being able to extend it while up on steps is brilliant. The battery is interchangeable with other Bosch 18v tools. My hedges are tall and broad I needed it on full extension to get to the other side of the hedge. I have used it off and on for about an hour and the battery worked without charging or changing.
Great battery bit overall a bit heavy
Cuts will same great battery life. A little heavy to handle but the strap can help depending on the angle
Does the job
I bought this to trim the top of the of a large holly tree that I couldn’t reach, It obviously doesn’t have the grunt of some of the bigger plug in trimmers but I was impressed. I was also surprised how well the batteries lasted I only have the 1.5ah batteries and one did the job
As you would expect at full extension it feels heavy but that’s just leverage working against you, (it’s probably also not intended to be used fully extended horizontally from a ladder)
Quiet & with good battery life.
I used this to cut my big hedges & it works well, not being too heavy. I wanted something that doesn’t make too much noise compared to petrol & I’m glad I went for cordless, electrical. Good battery life so far too.
DO NOT BUY IF WEAK IN THE ARMS
QUITE HEAVEY AT FULL HEIGHT BETTER FOR A YOUNGER PERSON OK TO USE IN SHORT SPELLS
High hedge problem
A short 40ft run of 18ft-high leylandii hedge needs frequent pruning. This pole cutter is a bit unwieldy for a 70yr-old but did enable me to get the job done very nicely; well pleased with the result.
Much better than expected. I used to think pole cutters were too feeble to do any real work but this has transformed my gardening and is useful at all levels. Because the motor is at the far end it is bound to feel heavy and you do have to get used to that and to work out the best technique. There is a harness but this cannot compensate for the weight and is restrictive so it is better to manage without it. Battery power is better than expected and by the time it runs out you will want a break anyway!
Good battery hedge cutte
Easy to use and good battery life. Ideal if you already have other Bosch products as you will already have the charger. Does a fair job although non battery versions will probably be more powerful.
Boach Hedge Trimme
It’s a little heavy when fully extended but other than that very good. The battery life is good and when it’s dead it charges quickly. It’s not a really heavy duty tool but if you keep on top of your hedge it’s very good. I am plese with it and do recommend it.
Has made it easy to cut the tops of the hedges. Much quicker to use than a corded trimmer. Fairly lightweight and the battery seems to last a long time. Easy to re-angle the head with a push button. Have knocked off a star due to the spring coming out of the shoulder strap clip after a few uses, so I have to find a way to secure it. Difficult to use without the shoulder strap, and has really let down Bosch. I know I am not the first reviewer this has happened to. Otherwise very good.
Heavy electric motor which is not balanced by the weight of the battery
As the electric motor is in the cutting end and very heavy it is difficult to lift when facing hedges.
Great, but very awkward to use fully extended
It’s a good product, well made but wow, it is pretty heavy when fully extended. The sling is vital but it is still heavily lopsided on balance. It does a good job but beware using on a ladder. It works really well.
Battery life is impressive
Although, like all electric hedgecutters, the balance is awkward, with the motor at the cutting end, the blades are very effective. Manages a 12 meter long, 2 meter high hedge (one side) without needing to re-charge.
Quality. Surprisingly quiet.
Not easy to use at first but OK after a while. It is invaluable for keeping a 10 foot hedge tidy.
I like to garden early in the morning so it is a real bonus that I can use this without disturbing the neighbours.
Cuts Fas
I used the hedge trimmer on a 15 feet high and almost 7-8 meter long hedge.
I had some 15 mm branches in between. The machine did an amazing job with fast speed.
Very easy to use and change angle. Tip: Must buy protective glasses when trimming overhead.
I have very tall hedges, so difficult to reach. The Bosch hedge pole was ideal for the job.
It does get very tiring waving the pole about with the trimmer on the long end of the pole. Nothing can be done about that, it is the problem of having tall hedges. As for the batteries, I ran out of steam long before they did! It cuts very well, all in all a very good machine.
Cuts well is a bit top heavy in handling
Cuts well but is a bit top heavy in handling.
Ok
Lacking a bit of power but does most of the trimming I need to do seems sturdy enough
Easily assembled. The lights on the charger could be better placed and more informative. The small clip on the strap broke at first usage. Trims the smaller bits of the holly hedge easily and manages the denser parts surprisingly well. Much lighter than the old, but powerful, petrol cutter. Much less fuss to use.
No muscle strain!
after using a petrol powered pole cutter on a 10 foot high leylandii (for best part of 3 years),this machine is awesome. Its so much lighter than my petrol one,no bother with starting ,no 2 stroke to worry about. On 1 battery charge it cut 40 meters of hedge with charge still in the battery.Cordless is the future for me 🙂
Does the job effectively although the angle has to be adjusted regularly to get a neat finish.
Quite heavy so can only use trimmer in short bursts. Find it quite difficult to remove the battery after use.
This isn’t going to munch through a badly maintained hedge with ease – it really only coped with fairly thin branches. I was disappointed at first as I had to use an extendable pruner to cut back the thicker branches but can now keep things under control with this device. The battery seems to last about 30 minutes or a little longer but it charges very quickly. At full extension the cutters are heavy and tricky to handle but using the supplied strap and a little practise helped.
This is not bad
I am a shorty and we have high bushes in our garden. This product is light and sturdy compared to a previous cutter I purchased from another company. The reason for this is the handy strap. The only draw back is this machine is not as powerful as a wired cutter. Other than that pretty decent.
I buy Bosch because they make the best household products, in my view. As much as I dislike saying it as a Brit, the Germans build stuff like no one else. This fits the ‘all 4 for 1’ range , so I didn’t need to spend money on batteries and chargers I don’t need. The product is long and slightly front heavy given it has a light weight battery at the back, but just a case of getting used to it ( and better than a back heavy petrol tool in my view). This is a fantastic product which works well and has made my hedge cutting so much more ‘enjoyable’, or should I say less less onerous. Recommended and well worth the money.
Just the ticke
Trimmed my excessive bush growth nicely. Makes the tree look bigger.
Does exactly what it “says on the tin”. I was concerned at only having a 2.5 Ah battery but it seems to last for what I want to do. It says it will give power for 200 sq m so that’s Ok
I am 79, will be 80 later this year.
This is the best power tool I have bought for the garden. I have a large garden with some high hedges and bushes that have been very difficult for me to manage. Difficult to get a gardener to come for such relatively small occasional work. I do not want to be going up ladders, but I am prepared to stand on a small 500mm height platform.
The hedge trimmer weighs 3.6kg including battery, excluding the harness. Bosch state you should only use this hedge trimmer whilst stood on the ground, but I judged I was entirely safe stood on my small platform, but with this hedge trimmer the platform is only necessary for a small part of what I need to do. I have managed to use this hedge trimmer with ease and without using the harness. I do need to pace myself and rest after relatively short spells but a younger person would find it far easier.
I note that another reviewer has said this trimmer will not cut “even slightly woody stems”. That has not been my experience. The thickest piece of branch I cut today (Blackthorn) I measured at 11mm, and top of a conifer 10mm, but I would not dream of using this hedge trimmer where there was a lot of branches of that thickness. I have tackled beech hedge and hornbeam not trimmed since last October (8 months ago) with ease. Yes, I am a fan of Bosch. This hedge trimmer is beyond my expectation.
Good Bosch tool
Good Bosch tool; plenty of power – just a little heavy at full extension although the strap harness helps. Best I’ve used of its type.
