This hedge trimmer was just what I needed to cut an oversized hedge. It reached the top of more than 12′ and the hedge was much more under control than before. The battery behaved well and lasted a good while. I would recommend Bosch as it makes a difficult job much more manageable.

I brought this in May 2024 and when it was delivered the small hook on the chest harness was broken and would not stay connected to the machine. Bosch were very good at sending me a replacement. Yesterday while using it for the 1st time since getting it, it broke again! I’m waiting to hear what Bosch have to say. It is quite heavy but I am only small. Overall it’s a good machine and reaches where I need it to

Decent price, arrived on time not lightweight as said in the instructions does not shorten in anyway so my wife can’t use it (or that’s what she says). But it really cuts well and battery life is good.

This looks great, except I want to trim the hedge now but have no instructions
Now I have to wait until Bosch get back to me. By then it’ll be raining

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI’m a fan of Bosch products and have other garden tools which can share batteries. Whilst the item is well made and was easy to assemble, the tool is extremely heavy, especially compared to another brand that this has replaced. As a “mature” gardener, I will struggle to use the item other than for short periods and certainly couldn’t without the strap which does not give great balance when used.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersJust used this for the 1st time today so can’t give an opinion on its durability, although it does seem well built, previous to this I used to cut the hedge using a Bosch cordless hedge trimmer (none telescopic) and I would say theres pros and cons using either method, firstly the original (none telescopic) cutter is a good deal lighter and easier to use but is obviously limited by reach and ladders were totally neccessary, also when at full stretch vertically the cuttings used to drop in your hair, eyes etc. this is avoided using a telescopic cutter as you are able to stand to the side with the extra length available.
The quality of the cut I would say was pretty good as you can see on supplied pics, all in all I would say it did make life a little easier although I still had to use ladders as my hedge probably like so many others is way to wide to cut by angling the head as they would have you believe.
I managed to get about 3/4 of the hedge cut which is around 30 metres by 4 metres before the battery give in, fortunately I had a spare so not a problem, however this brings me on to another minus point the kit is advertised by amazon as coming with the AL 1830cv charger, this is not the case (at least not for me) as mine came with the AL 18 v 20 charger) which is not as fast been only 2 amp as opposed to the 1830 been 3 amp. Hence the 4 stars as I have deducted 1 for not been as advertised (hopefully Amazon will read this and correct the description).

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent Hedge Trimme

Battery is interchangeable with other Bosch Home tools, so if you already have a Home tool (eg hedge trimmer) you do not need to buy an expensive second battery. However battery is different to that supplied with Professional range tools. Someone does sell an adapter to enable use of Professional tool batteries however (about 14).

Already had an 18v batter and charger
Have tried electric and battery. They are ALL top heavy but balance the angle of the cutting head and the strap and most of the weight can be taken up. This isn’t a professional unit but it does the job week. With care you can cut though 5-10mm branches with care but again it requires some thought about angle of attack.
Unless you are going to spend five times the amount this is the best you’ll do.

This has replaced a petrol hedge trimmer and long reach battery battery trimmer which always ran out of charge before I finished the job. Battery life on this is much better and the trimming blade is as long as the petrol hand trimmer so one tool now does the job better.

After changing from a heavy corded model, this was a Revelation! Extends easily and even fully extended is light enough to be used easily. Battery life is ok, but not great, the + side is the battery is small and light. It has a good “which” rating which was the clincher.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersExcellent hedge trimmer and especially easy for the high parts of the hedge, as other reviews have said yes it is a bit heavy after a while but you just have to pace your self to your own level .Very pleased with this product and easy to put together.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is as good as stated . Extends and adjusts to all awkward angles .
Makes my life so much easier , shaping the top of a flowering cherry tree .
Copes with sensible branches and leaves a great , neat finish.
Not too heavy even at full extension . Neck support helps a great deal .
I would highly recommend it . Battery life is great . Used all afternoon on one charge .

Like; lightweight, got extra battery free, sharp, battery compatibility with other tools. Dislikes; could do with a handle midway to help steady the device, floppy at full length due to pole made from thin aluminium. Generally a good tool for a budget price.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI’ve been using the G Tech hedge trimmer for a few years and it finally wore out. I searched for a good replacement and looked at the weight of several different options. I was interested in getting a system that would use one battery for several tools. I chose this one because it was reasonably priced. So far it cuts well and recharges quickly but it is heavier than the Gtech and is probably too big for my medium sized hedge. I would recommend that anyone thinking of buying this really checks the weight and see if you need something this size.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersConnecting the two poles was fiddly and not obvious and the instructions are useless – print too small and buried in welter of health and safety text. A large self -explanatory “Quick Start” diagram would be welcome. Useful length (adjustable) but quite heavy to handle even with the shoulder strap.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersVery easy to use and not the heavy. Very sharp blades made light work of my conifers. Ten feet up a ladder with the tool at full length and one handed i was still able to prune and the weight was not excessive. I did take plenty of breaks because it does have some weight but manageable. The telescopic handle allows you to cover more ground when working and it is use able at all lengths. I tried another brand that claimed it was telescopic but, it was a split shaft and extension piece. I am very pleased with my purchase and I would buy it again and recommend to others

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersThis articulated hedge trimmer is a serious piece of machinery, it is also quite heavy. I am presently trying to work out the best way to tackle a high overgrown boundary hedge. There is no doubt that it can handle the task, the only problem is whether I can handle the machine. At the moment I am at the planning stage.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersThis is a nice lightweight piece of kit but be aware that it is only really suited to light duties and struggles with anything more than that. It has tooth spacing of 16mm but will not be happy cutting anywhere near that. I had to send it back.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersWell-made piece of kit, however it is quite heavy and when fully extended the weight of the cutter head makes it difficult and tiring to use. Not having used any other makes this might be the same with all long handled cutters that have most of the weight at a distance. The machine does cut well and the battery lasted longer than my arms.

All parts were intact, so no idea what went on, the battery was flat, so maybe someone swapped them.
Works fine despite my initial concern, but is rather heavier than I thought it would be, and not a well balanced tool.

Whilst I am very impressed with the overall product I have to warn that it is a heavy I struggled to lift it using both hands and feel would prove problematic to most ladies or the elderly.
That being said the actual cutter is very well made as you would expect from this maker & goes together easily providing useful high with variable angles for cutting hedges without having to use steps.

  23. Frenalyn Wilson says:

It’s a bit unwieldy but I guess that’s the nature of the beast. It is front heavy which is to be expected when the motor is mounted by the head, so it is tiring to use. It is OK for light use. I successfully trimmed a conifer hedge and a few light bushes but it struggled with the laurel hedge, for which I had to resort to the bigger mains powered hedge trimmer I have.

The machine cut my large hedge (circa 60 feet long and about 4 feet high) with no problem, the battery lasted around 1.5 hours from fully charged, it must be noted this is not a light machine, which was fine for me, although some may find it on the heavy side.

Bought for managing small trees and hedges to one side of garden. Cuts twigs and small branches as described in the manufacturer’s promotional material. I have trimmed two oak sapplings 5m tall or so (NB operating partially off a working platform) plus a 6m length of substantial holly & elderberry hedge , and the trimmer has not jammed to date. This work was carried out on three separate sessions and there was no problem with battery life on any of them. Generally adequately powerful, but noticeably less so that a large mains saw – an issue of speed only really.

As a strong six foot male I generally found it manageable, although quite tiring to hold above head height for that extra bit of reach. I would not wish to use this from steps or a ladder, but it felt OK from a working platform. For the use I put it to it provides a viable alternative to employing a professional for annual management of the encroachment of small trees and hedges.

These trimmers work well on small to medium thickness stems (privet and hawthorn hedges, few millimetre thicknesses), and definitely give a lot of reach. The blade drive is a bit ‘tinny’ sounding but at least while sharp the cutters do a decent job and the battery seems to last well enough; they aren’t going to get through finger thick growths the way my mains powered hedge cutters do. With the motor on the far end, the weight is noticeable especially with any kind of extension. Finding a decent way to support or counterbalance the end is sometimes a bit tricky and the strap does not connect any higher than the handles. If you have grip or strength issues in the arms, these could be a challenge but I’m ok working an hour with these as a mid-50s desk-worker with moderately weedy arms if that’s any guide. A spare battery is very helpful (I have a Bosch drill with the 18V system so just interchange with those batteries).

I got this for a hedge, which sounds sensible! But i have started to use it for everything, weed clearing, grass cutting around where the mower doesn’t do so well, even some pruning and straggly branch cutting.
I fear it wont take this level of abuse for long – but’s not complaining yet! (6months done)
It’s not all that well balanced, and I don’t find the strap of any use, so it can be hard work – but it’s good and hard working considering the price. The angled head is the winner for me, and gives it a versatility i didn’t expect.

Very disappointed with the official box the product arrived in , it’s condition looked like it had been kicked around the store room for several months , it had being opened and re- sellotaped up which prompted one to question whether the contents were second hand , damaged or once bought and returned to the store ,however on opening the box the long reach hedge trimmer and it’s associated parts appeared to be new and unused. The trimmer has yet to be field tested .

The battery life isn’t the 2 1/2hrs they state more like an hour but good enough in my opinion. The cutting capacity is really good as is the long reach if you’re able to hold the weight over this length. They are difficult to use on hedges that are within arms reach as the handle isn’t detachable and the switch is only accessible at arms length where an added short use switch would of been a good idea.

Bought summer 21 and used so far 3 or 4 times over various shrubs and hedges.

    Pros.
This thing cuts like a hot knife through butter. I have had zero issues on hawthorn, fern, Laurel or Privit hedges.

The battery life is excellent and the fact that you can switch in new ones (if you have them) is great.

The fact that you can angle the cutting head by such a wide degree means you can get a good edge at most heights.

    Cons
The weight is a bit on the heavier side. I’m not a weakling and can cope, but after a while it can make your arms ache. My other half struggles with its weight when working horizontally to over a boarder. Vertically it’s a bit easier. THE SHOULDER STRAP HELPS NO END THOUGH.

All in all, very much recommend the cutter – especially if you have already got things in the One4All battery range.

I bought this to try and trim my 8′ yew hedge, which was getting out of control and being a lady of a certain age I don’t feel comfortable on steps anymore. I found it heavier and more unwieldy than expected and you definitely need to use the provided harness. It’s not as powerful as an corded trimmer but it does the job. Because of the angle it’s difficult to guage what’s being cut on top. I could only use it for a few minutes at a time but perseverance won out and while not perfect the hedge does look tidier. I found it easier to use on other smaller bushes, when it wasn’t extended. All in all it’s a useful addition to my garden tools and does away with cords but not as powerful as expected and has problems cutting through anything thicker than a cigarette.

Having initially tried a Greenworks pole hedge trimmer, the motor of which fried itself on day 1 of use, I decided to order this instead of having a replacement for the other.

This is far easier to use ergonomically speaking. It isn’t light, and anyone expecting a long pole with a moving piece of metal weight at the end to be light is a fool. However, with the strap (easily fitted) it maneouvers easily. Battery life is exceptional, have used this a lot for 3 days straight and still not needed to recharge (deliberately stress tested it because I had another battery for Bosch from another garden tool of needed).

Has had no issues cutting through some fairly substantial brambles, extremely thick bind weed, as well as the normal hedge trimming you would expect to do.

Sometimes you really do need to pay more for something which works, and this definitely follows that rule.

This was bought to replace a GTech cordless hedgetrimmer that was heavy and cumbersome to use. The Bosch is so much better although it too, isn’t that light. However using it was good, it’s telescopic and the blade can be angled. I already had a suitable battery and charger (for a Bosch cordless hedgetrimmer) but ended up buying another battery for 30 from Amazon, as I tend to use both trimmers togethe

It’s a bit off balance when using the extension so just be careful but an amazing piece of kit. Took a little bit of time to get use to but had the job done in half the time it would normally take due to it’s extendable reach. Managed to cut back the neighbours privit this year but won’t cut thick branches. It’s designed for trimming young or thin branches so don’t expect it to get through the really thick stuff. Ideal for keeping on top of those high bushes that seem to grow over night in the summer. Easy to assemble and use.

Usual build quality you’d expect from Bosch and by using the common batteries it saved paying extra for yet more batteries.
Lightweight and does my 8′ hedge with ease. Don’t have to mess about with mixing fuel etc and manage the weight of a traditional petrol equivalent.

I bought this because I fell off a stepladder trying to clip a high hedge. The tool enables me to do the job with both feet on the ground. It is quite heavy, but fortunately training with the traditional Taichichuan spear has assisted in manipulating it to good effect with minimum effort. The battery works well, although it is noticeably less powerful than my mains electric Bosch hedge trimmer.

Usual Bosch quality and it handled our large Beech well but it is really quite heavy, especially when fully extended. One design gripe is the placement of the on/off switch right at the bottem, would be better placed on the middle section.

Some reviews say it’s a little heavy and not as powerful as a mains trimmer.. but for not having to stand on a ladder or worry about cutting trough cables not a bad trade-off…battery life is good for me as I’ve had enough before battery runs out .. trimmed conifer hedges well just needs a little practice..

Bought this after reading round. Purchased due to it’s lightweight. Have now used it several times, has done an excellent job trimming hawthorn trees. Easy to use and adjust the angle of the trimmer. Battery lasted for the duration. An hour? Hour and a half? Can’t remember it was that good. Would recommend to others. The only thing I wasn’t pleased about was the shoulder strap/support clip failed on the first day. Have continued to work without is. Too flimsy. Shame.
