This really sucks – in the best possible way. In fact it sucks so we’ll that it will eat a lightweight rug if you’re not careful. Never had my carpets so clean. Cord unbelievably long. Yes, heavier than a cordless machine, but so much more efficient.

Bought the air reach before .it was fab. Lasted five years with lots of heavy duty use cleaning Holliday cottages. It still works ok ish ,the extension handle doesn’t stay in short position but that’s no big deal
. The brush bar bearing have started to go but you can get replacements along with new filters. It still gets used by my two year old daily. . I got this this one which is identical except for the name change and colour. The suction is amazing. Sucks the carpet up off the floor. Leave nice brushed carpet .can even fit under the beds to clean. Easy empty. Washable filter .easy brush bar cleaning. Lightweight, compact. Don’t underestimate this little star of a machine. I’d certainly be happy paying more.iv had a Dyson before and I loved it but this certainly give Dyson a run for it’s money at a fraction of the price.
    Highly recommended

    Amazing Suction
A bit harder to push than a dyson but worth it for the suction boost
Very easy to use including how to swap to accessories
Slender design means it is easy to store.

User friendly with great suction, not heavy to lift, maneuverable, but you need more force than pushing a dyson or a Henry since the suction is so powerful. Also has a hardwood and short carpet setting which has less suction and is easier to push.

    Better than a Dyso

This is the 2nd one I have purchased as I am so pleased with the 1st one, I now have one for upstairs and one for downstairs (my stairs are extremely steep!). The suction is fantastic but they are so light to use. The extra long cable on this model means I can plug it in and vacuum the whole of one floor of my house without having to unplug/replug. The only slightly annoying thing with it is the silly clip for when you want to use the accessories, but once you get used to that, it is a delight to use (never thought I’d be saying that about housework!) Maybe the manufacturers can take note and make this “clip” slightly wider?

Very good suction on this model but the cord is way too long. The design isn’t as good as the last one I’ve had, its so fiddly to use the attachments. Overall its a good cleaner but I wish it was more user friendly.

for the price paid for this it’s a quiet and lightweight vacum cleaner also the cord is long enough to go upstairs without unplugging downstairs. i’ve had my old Vax for years so hubby uses it to clean the car and the sawdust in the shed so i feel Vax are a reliable brand

I have had one of these for years and was so impressed i bought another one. It has a long cord and will stretch nearly from one end of the house to the other, i also have two dogs and it is great for picking up their fur. It is also very light so easy for up and down the stairs. I would recommend this vax to anyone

Chose this over a cordless one of the same price betting on the suction power, and I certainly don’t regret it. It’s great for carpets. Cord length is enough for almost all of my 1br flat.
Two things to keep in mind:
    – Do not overfill the dust container cuz it could get difficult to clean.
    – I would be careful on scratch-prone floors like because if you drag it without the wheels it can scratch the floor.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersThree days ago I decided it was time to vacuum clean the upstairs carpets. Just 3 bedrooms and the landing. I have three different carpet types up there. The front hall, stair, landing and front small bedroom have a very deep pile expensive carpet that is still really good after 35 years of me living here, and it was here before I bought the house. The front master bedroom had a non expensive medium-short pile carpet that is only about two years old, and the back bedroom has an expensive short pile (very short but tightly woven) one which is about six years old, my bedroom.

I was still using my old faithful DC04 Dyson that I had from new, so many years ago I cannot even recall where I bought it. The last time I used it, about two months ago it went seriously noisy, this time it blew up as soon as I pressed the power button – smoke everywhere.

So, I had a carry my mains run Ball Dyson up the stairs to clean with that instead. I can’t walk very well having had a serious crash when I was 21, I am 61 now so carting that through the living room and up there – and back is hard for me. So I looked on Amazon to buy a new upright cleaner for upstairs and I decided on this one based on reviews.

It came yesterday. I carted it upstairs, set it on ‘low pile’ and proceeded to vacuum the two big bedrooms. The front bedroom with the cheaper carpet was pretty easy to manoeuvre the cleaner around but still with a good and strong suction. The back bedroom with the expensive low, tight pile was a different matter. It was almost trying to suck itself through the floor. I raised the handle to give myself more leverage and it did help a little.

Then I went onto the landing and into the small bedroom which both have a really deep pile carpet. It was still pulling against the carpet like a good one, and I was struggling. I eventually realised I had neglected to slide the ‘thingy’ to deep pile. Once I did that it was OK with great suction very similar to that experienced in the front bedroom. The suction is so good on this remarkable cleaner that I doubt it would make hardly any difference in the effectiveness of the cleaning if I had bothered sliding the ‘thingy’ between both deep and low pile settings. But boy oh boy did it clean, or what!

There is a reviewer who has stated that it pulls up a “disturbing amount of grit”, not wrong. Look at the picture! Seriously, this is what this VAX pulled out of my upstairs carpets just two days after I went over the same with a three-year-old ball Dyson, the most powerful corded one I could buy at the time, just before they jacked in mains operated ones for good. Disturbing indeed!

As for the cleaner functions. Well the cable is really long, it easily got me to every corner upstairs, in fact it maybe too long as it can get in the way but some careful placement of the coiled up cable into a corner or something before starting can eliminate this to a great extent. And it is quiet as vacuum cleaners go, noticeably a lot quieter than my Dyson.

The slider ‘thingy’ for the pile selection is a bad design. It is very hard to slide from one option to the other, I don’t know if this will slacken off with use. I hope so. I am considering a drop of machine oil in the runners. It is really the only niggle I have.

The operation of this cleaner is simple. There are two orange buttons on the top right of the dust cylinder, one is ‘power’ while the other turns the brush bar on or off. When the brush-bar is turned on a green light illuminates on the back of the cleaning head. I believe the ‘off’ position is for hard floors. It will also remember this setting the next time you use the cleaner.

The handle is adjustable to quite a height and should be able to be set for anyone who uses this model. Easily set by simply lifting a corrugated ring above the cylinder and lifting the handle to the desired height before leaving the ring go – which locks it.

The cleaning head is very streamlined and flat across its surface, no more than maybe 2 – 2.5″ in height, it can go into very low spaces, specially since the cleaner handle can be laid back practically along the floor and it can still be used. It cleans right to the edges too. You place your foot onto the left-hand corner (as looking from behind the cleaner) of the cleaning head to disengage the cylinder section from the ‘lock’ position which you achieve by pulling back on the handle. Much more sturdy I might add than the Dyson Ball, which is so easy that it sometimes does not lock when putting it back up. The VAX cleans right to the edges too, thanks to small openings at the edges of the brush bar housing.

Removing the cylinder is simple, again with the press of a button at the back of the carrying handle. Emptying it is also simple. Once removed you will see an orange tab at the bottom of the cylinder (which is hidden when cylinder is fitted to the cleaner). Press the top and the bottom opens, give it a shake and a few last post – done. (I put it in its entirety into a bag before doing any of this to catch all the dust).

I’ve not used the extension hose on this to do my stairs as yet but the procedure for using it is pretty simple. It is stored on the cleaner on the left side of the cylinder. It comes with a combined crevice and brush tool which stow on the back of the cleaner.

I would certainly recommend this vacuum to anyone.

This sucks! Seriously, it really sucks

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersMy flat came with a Miele on its last leg. I wanted something cheap to use and that I can leave behind when I move. This will come with me! While it is a bit awkward and the hoses/attachments are not the most ergonomic or as easy and a Miele (not supposed to be at a 1/3 of price!) It more than makes up for in power. I vacuumed my flat w the Miele then immediately used this just after and wow the amount the Vax picked up AFTER the Miele is astonishing. I have no problem recommending this vacuum–excellent product.

Good for carpets (strong suction even on lowest setting – makes it a little harder to push on long pile carpets), stairs (very long reach extension and long cord) and hard floors. Good value compared to rivals.

The suction on this machine is out of this world! The cord is super lengthy which means I can leave it plugged in downstairs and vacuum upstairs. The drawback is the hose and the on switch, both fiddly. You want the on switch to be on the handle, but it isn’t, its on the right hand side of the machine which means to have to either reach around with your left hand (because youre holding the handle with your right) or balance the handle on your body and switch it on. Some disassembly required when it comes to getting the hose nozzle out which is time consuming

This is one of the most powerful vacuum’s ive ever used. I love it for our carpets and it has outshined our Dyson without any hesitation. In saying. that, it’s clunky. It’s super heavy, you cant vacuum under the couch or bed (too big) and it’s a bit awkward to move around. I am happy to put up with this though as the suction is beyond incredible and it’s easy to clean.

Works well as a hoover for those rooms which do not need a more powerful cleaner. A drawback is the overlong cord which seems to have been designed for cleaning an aircraft hangar.

I struggled to put it together and found the manual wasn’t clear. What would have been really helpful would have been a video on the Vax website on how to put it all together and get it working. I called in a neighbour to help me and together we managed to puzzle it out. The drawings aren’t that clear. I know many of you sailed through this, but for those of us who struggled, the manual could be clearer.

As it says on the tin plus ability to raise handle height and turn off brush rotator. With 3 cats and a dog I’d say it handles pet hair very well. Just emptying not a bundle if jollys, but have fashioned a skewer into a giant crochet hook to hook things dow

I’ve had Dysons and was tempted to get a shark. However, I couldn’t justify the price and my hoovers only last a year with a big house filled with children, dogs and soot from fires. This did not disappoint for the price. Brilliant suction, does what it says it will do, super long attachable tube, long wire that reaches all the way to the top of the stairs. Works well picking up dog hair and I have 3 big hairy dogs that shed. Out of the box and set up in 2 minutes. Simple.

After looking at a few more expensive alternatives (shark & Dyson) we decided to opt for this Vax hoover after reading others reviews. We are seriously impressed by how good this hoover is! Great suction power, cleans both hardwood flooring and carpet extremely well (we couldn’t believe how much dirt it got up from our rug!)
The long and flexible hose makes getting them ‘hard to reach’ places so much easier. It’s a great size and easy to move around / carry up stairs.

Especially for the price (less than half of what we were thinking of spending on the other brands), I couldn’t recommend this more! If you’re on the fence then go for it, you won’t be disappointed!

I had previously ordered Vax Mach Air only discover no extension hose or adjustable handle or pet tool.
Very happy with my purchase. Like my previous Vax suction is outstanding – take care when hoovering mats. I usually hoover in one direction coming off the mat and turning round, otherwise you end up with sucked up mat!
I think it’s a bit cheeky of Vax to be charging slightly more for this hoover than previously as the only changes they have made are insignificant, as mentioned above and make the model below a worse option.
I can highly recommend this product. Luckily I kept my old pet tool!

This vacuum is everything I wanted. It’s not too heavy, but that doesn’t compromise it’s sucking power at all. It is incredible, it really does a fantastic job at cleaning the carpets and wood floors. It has adaptability, as you can adjust the settings to make it right for your carpet or floor. I’m super impressed to be honest. It is even easy to clean the filter. It comes right out. I recommend reading the little booklet that comes in the box so you can understand everything the vacuum can do. It’s great, I recommend this for anyone. Can’t beat the price either!

I always thinking of giving 5s across the board when it is just a hoover after all is a bit over the top! That said it is a good hoover and have been impressed with the suction and cleaning. Using the fittings to make it a smaller hoover have not been successful and its a bit plastic. As far as stairs as I am having to use the whole hoover not the best.
Overall for the price I paid (50% off) I was impressed.

Amazing suction power.. my carpets were left looking brand new! Took up so much dirt and dust you can’t see with your eyes. The cord is really long for getting around only downside is it just hooks onto the hoover and falls off easily as you’re going around. Really happy we bought this hoover as the price point compared to Dyson & Shark is impressive as I would say this hoover is equally as good but half the price!

I think this vacuum cleaner is really good. Outs got great suction, and it’s light you move around. It’s not perfect though, because it is fiddly to take off the extension, which also acts as the handle when you’re doing main hoovering.
I don’t know what it’s like up stairs cos we’ve yet to get the carpet for our stairs (just moved in). We don’t yet have carpet in the house but it’s been strong on the rugs. It’s got a hard floor setting, and a carpet setting, and they have different powers, so it’s not just pretending to offer a difference.
If I had to, I would definitely buy it again.

Light, and effective around the house

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBought this as I’d had enough of my Dyson failing to suck! At a fraction of the price (99) this Vax sucks so hard I have to stand on my doormat and rug to stop it lifting them up. It sticks to the hard floor too it’s so powerful. Even with the suction control on minimum it’s still powerful enough to pick up stuff my old Dyson couldn’t. With two dogs, and one of them a GSD (German shedding dog) I was forever having to go over my rug and doormat first with a dog brush to clear excess fur off them, and even then the Dyson animal couldn’t pick up what was left. This Vax however just sucked the lot up and left my doormat and rug (and all the hard floors) dust free in half the time it used to take me to do just the living room rug which is only 5’x3′. I didn’t have to then spend ages taking it apart to remove tangled hair from the roller and a random bit of bad design plastic that ensured the Dyson clogged up on every use.

The hose extension was perfect for using the attachment for dusting my TV and shelves (remove anything lighter than a truck though or it will suck that right up) and while I don’t have any stairs, I’m sure it would be great for them too.

I did a test run with the Dyson on my doormat before using the new Vax – as can be seen in the first photo, the dirty, grey looking bit looks like it hasn’t seen a vacuum in months, whereas you can clearly see the difference with this model. My doormat looks like new again (it’s over 10 years old).

The only slight negative for me is getting used to manoeuvring it around after the ball arrangement on the Dyson but that’s only because I’m not used to it. While it’s physically a fair bit bigger than the Dyson Animal DC50 (2nd image), it actually weighs half a kilo less yet feels much sturdier.

All in all this vacuum cleaner is well worth it’s small price tag!

    Worth every penny and some!

My other vacuum broke 3 weeks before Christmas, wanted one at a reasonable price as we only have a stair carpet and 2 small bedroom carpets, the rest of the house is flooring. It is lightweight and the suction is great. Also, we can now hoover the stairs in one go without having to move the plug upstairs due to the cord and hose length.

I was going to go with a Shark but decided on this instead and I am so very glad that I did.

We had to empty the vacuum 5 times on the first clean of our house, and can’t believe how much our previous non-brush hoover didn’t pick up. The construction is good quality and we have no problem steering it around the house with the adjustable suction. The only negative so far is that the extension hose constantly pulls back, though I guess this is the nature of the retracting design.

Overall, very, very pleased!! Great suction!! Picks up everything!! The cord can be a bit of handful as sooooooo long, but is ideal because you can pretty much do a long range vacuuming form once central plug in point, but I find I need to put cable over shoulder to stop it getting in my way. Too heavy for stairs, I use a lightweight hand held one for the steps.
When using the interlocking hoses for vacuuming chairs, crevices etc where you cannot use the upright, it is EXCELLENT!! Though hoses are a bit short and the one snags on holder clip attached to machine. Overall, I am very happy

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis replaced a Dyson Pet cleaner that cost 3 times as much and needed unclogging after every every use.
The suction is amazing and it really picks up well. The lead is long enough to do a whole floor of my 1950s 3-bedroom house without having to change plug sockets.
On the minus side, it’s not always intuitive to use. There’s a button to turn on the brush for some reason – that obviously I didn’t spot first time out (of course I didn’t read the instructions).
Additionally, despite getting the ‘stretch’ version with the longer hose, it still doesn’t make it all the way to the top of the stairs. You could, of course, do half from the bottom and half from the top but I’m always a bit iffy about having a cleaner at the top of the stairs while I’m tugging on the hose.
All in all though a terrific vacuum cleaner for less than 100. I’m very pleased with my purchase.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI bought this to replace my old Vax Mach Air which broke down after 10 years – Sadly unable to repair. So this Vax Air Stretch looks exactly the same, except the electric cable is much longer – so much that I only have to plug into one socket and can hoover the whole of my 3 bed bungalow!! Great – although it does mean that the cable is a bit heavier to handle and manoeuvre. I found that the sealed brush head part is slightly bigger too. The only thing that perhaps I wasn’t too keen on was the fact that it seemed quite a bit heavier than my old Vax – or maybe it’s the suction power that is much better. Overall impression – a great vacuum cleaner with really good suction and I would recommend.

When i first took this out of the box and compared it to my old Vax, which is built like a tank i thought it to be rather cheaply made and flimsy. Though when i started using it i was pleasantly surprised how good it works, it is a extremely powerful machine and it picks up a very large amount of fine dirt. The extension hose is very useful, it has seriously long power cord and being lightweight i easy to move around.

Great vacuum, has Great suction and the hose is far better than the one you get with a Dyson. Love the lift off option, makes cleaning stairs easier even if it is quite heavy. Only draw back is when using lift off it tips over very easy so you have to hold it while using hose which is annoying

My old vax air reach broke after 4 years, it had a 6 year warranty but vax wouldn’t honour it as I hadn’t registered the product on theor website (which I didn’t know I had to do as I had kept the receipt which I thought would be sufficient). I was disappointed by thay and decided not to buy vax again. I ordered a cheap chinese brand cordless vacuum cleaner and it was good for absolutely nothing I couldn’t believe what a useless piece of trash it was so I returned and bought a corded upright vytronix vacuum cleaner. Suction power was better but it was very flimsy and had an extremely short cable which I was not happy about. Then I bought a more expensive cordless vacuum cleaner (chinese brand as well which had only positive reviews which must have been incentivised) which was the same price as this vax air stretch. It seemed good at first but over time I discovered that it the hairs on the carpet in the landing just started accumulating, it wouldn’t pick up any heavier dirt or crumbs, string, hairs and eventually after 5 months the button on the telescopic handle broke off and I was back on my quest to find the perfect vacuum cleaner. It had to be powerful, have a long cord of at least 11 meters (no reasonably priced cordless vacuum cleaner will have suction as strong as corded) and cost no more than 100. I found that this was the only one to suit my needs and I’m very happy with it. Picture shows the amount of dirt/dust it picked up the very first time I used it on the carpet on the landing – that’s how much dirt my cordless vacuum left behind in the 5 months I was using it . Lesson learned: not to buy cheap unknown chinese branded products. It came with less attachments than my old vax air reach – no turbo tool which I like to use for stairs, no clip to hold the cable in place but I’m glad I kept them from my old vacuum cleaner. It also has a shorter warranty of only 1 year but if it lasts 4 years like my old one I’ll be very pleased. It’s a bit heavy for the stairs but I can live with that as it has to be because it’s so powerful. All in all this is the best value for money vacuum cleaner – powerful, long cord (no need to change sockets), and also affordable. I do highly recommend it!

    Hope to have helped!

    Exactly what I needed!

Christ on a bike, what a hoover! Don’t waste your money on the more expensive brands!! This thing could suck a golf ball through a hose pipe and probably the cat too! The new cord length is good but the only issue I have is the power cord is a bit weak, just standard twin flex and I’ve already damaged it when I ran over it with the hoover but I bought the extra warranty so it’s all good! Bit fiddly to attach stair cleaning but you get used to it. Long lead, can do a 4 bed house still plugged in downstairs but this means lead can get tangled up as it’s so long, I throw it over my shoulder. Good buy for the price. I only need to Hoover once a week it’s so efficient.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI have had this hoover now over a week and you know what I honestly cannot fault it! My previous Vax pet hoover was rubbish but this one is amazing!!!

So on the wooden floors I keep the brushes off like they tell you too and the suction is very good. My floor was very clean after!

But I tell you what, where this hoover amazed me was when I put it on carpet upstairs and turned the brushes on! Wow!! This thing just lifted my pet hair up of the carpet and it was spotless! Even so that you saw lines in the carpet where it was cleaning so well. The other hoover I had couldn’t get nearly as good as this one.

I would definitely recommend this for the price. I was very impressed. I hope it continues to work this way. 🙂

Fantastic suction and picks up dog hair brilliantly. Best cleaning ever on carpet and wooden floors. Not great on the stairs as it doesn’t reach all the way to the top. Still searching for a cleaner that does it all without being too heavy for me! This one is heavier than the ultra light one made by Vax so if that’s a priority be aware.

Fab hoover for all over the house. Can adjust the foot height. Great over carpets as good suction but also great over tiled floors as you can turn the brush off. Would recommend.

Arrived quickly, well packed and undamaged. This was a gift and initially they did not realise you could adjust the floor setting for wood or carpets. Now they look forward to trying it out (again). Were impressed they could do stairs from top to bottom in one go.

Always had Dyson’s, but because of Covid 19, lack of money. Saw this, read reviews and bought it. I am absolutely astonished at how solid it is and the suction is in a world of it’s own. I have long hair and it picks it up no problem. I also have 12 grandchildren…. need I say more. I am at the age now where I do not want to spend all day on my hands and knees picking bits out of my carpet that the hoover missed!! It is an absolute breeze to use and would not hesitate to recommend this quality, excellent value, upright hoover.

This hoover is exceptional. We previously had a dyson, but this Vax completely blows it out of the water. We couldn’t believe how brand new our carpets looked or how dust free the laminate was. The suction power is huge, really feels like its getting every single piece of dust out. Its light, easy to attach parts, and is great with pet hair. Highly recommended.

I love Vax vacuums. They have great suction and this stays if you clean the filters regularly. The cord is a great length but I do find it a little difficult doing the extension for the stairs (arthritic fingers).

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe only hoover I was looking at in this price brand (paid 99.99) was a Henry or Hetty, and I wasn’t planning on spending that much given how many vacuums we seem to go through However, seeing this on offer changed my mind. It’s not that heavy, has a great reach, especially with the hose extender, and the suction is incredible. I didn’t realise how much the old vacuums were not picking up until until using this. It’s given the carpets a new lease of life, which is great, especially with there being 6 of us and the dog around. The main issue is that there is only a small cylinder, and. If you use the extra suction (which gets the best results), it makes the hoover feel heavy because of the power causing the vacuum to need that extra push to move. Also, watch what you do suck up as there is a slight gap at the edge of the brush that can collect things that stop it if it gets wrapped round (e.g. thick thread). Happy with this and have recommended it to friends.

Golden Review Award: 54 From Our UsersVery strong vacuum! My carpet has never looked so good, it picked up the pile lovely and made some very satisfying diamond lines. I thought the bucket filled up fast and maybe abit small but nope, turns out my last vacuum wasn’t picking up very much. I emptied the bucket twice just in the living room! Lots of dog hair, made me quite queasy tbh lol
Easy enough to push, the cord is VERY long. Haven’t tried it on the stairs yet but am very happy with it so far. 😀
Added bonus that you can have the roller on or off and has settings for short and long pile carpets.

Oh and now my dog is not happy because I found his biscuit stash under his bed. That made alot of noise lol!

    Brilliant, strong vacuum

I Hoovered my carpet with my old one just hours before using this vax. The vax still managed to find and suck up dirt.!
Extremely long cord which does get in the way a bit but is also good as don’t have to un plug to use in other rooms.

It arrived this mornin & just hooverin the hall, the dust cylinder was almost half full! ASTOUNDING suction, u can feel the pull as u vacuum, the cord is ridiculously long & its so easy to do the stairs & it picks up every speck of dirt & dust. I’ll never stop using Vax again l. I’ve even order another one today for my Mum as she was so impressed! I’d definitely recommend

i have used the machine twice in two days cleaning whole house. it is a very good vacuum, and comes with lots of attachment but where u can attach the hose to main body there is a small rubber tubing acting as a seal, its already very twitchy and stretchy after just using it two times. the orange clip part where hose attaches to other tube, it is quite difficult to attach one hose to other. attaching other attachments is very simple. its not a cheap machine and these things should be checked and made user freindly.
also the picture shows you can take the hose to top of the stairs but in reality it just reached near to top, although cord is very long and unit is easy to carry, so i just took it upstairs and finised the rest of my stairs.
otherwise working wise its such a good powerful machine, made the carpet very clean after first use. even for the hard floor, it’s very good. but if you want to clean under bed or sofa you have to use attachments.

    powerful machine

This is my first upright vacuum and I don’t have very much experience with vacuum cleaners. I am fairly satisfied with this item. Very easy to assemble. Very strong suction power. The cord is quite long and there’s no proper holder so you need to find a technique to keep it in place while using. It is loud to a tolerable degree but I suppose most vacuums are that way. Good with carpets and even floor surfaces. Not as good with uneven tiled flooring. All in all, it is worth every penny.

Just tried out my new Vax and it’s incredible , really quiet with an excellent suction. even the dog isn’t scared of it like she was with the old Vax ( nine years old and past its best ). For under 100 you can’t get a better vacuum cleaner. My only criticism is their claimed reach of 17m ( 55 feet) there’s no way that’s true it’s more like 17 feet tops they must have got confused between metres and feet !!

Having owned Dysons for over a decade I was very pleased with the Vax
    Positives- lightweight, long cord, suction,
Negatives- extension cord only reaches up 11 straight stairs.
I use the extension hose to hold the accessories and this is fine.
Adding the extension hose is easy.
It took a while to get used to not having a “ball” to steer the hoover but this is only a habit from previous dyson model.

Much better suction than our old Dyson which couldn’t really cope with our two golden retrievers. The amount of dirt and dog hair the Vax cleans up is crazy, and it’s simple to empty. We have wooden floors, tiles, and a deep pile rug, the vax works well on all of these surfaces. I still use the dyson for the stairs although I probably could use the hose attachment on the vax if I had to. I’d like some extra attachments for the end of the hose for getting into corners etc. I’d buy it again and would recommend it to others.

Our old vacuum had been giving us issues with needing to constantly get cleaned out after only doing one room of the house, and it was a nightmare to use on the stairs. This vacuum can not only do most of the house before it needs emptying, but it also cleans it far deeper than the old vacuum ever did. It’s long hose makes stairs way more manageable than before, and it doesn’t need moving as often either. The only negative is that it’s taller than our old vacuum, but that’s more of a space issue on our side than the vacuum being huge or anything.

Did a lot of research before purchasing this product and am pleased to say that my wife is very pleased with it (sorry for the seemingly sexist remark but she adores it), I have yet to use it. The actual suction power, maneuverability, lightness and cord length are true to word and are comparable to the Shark range.
The only negative area was the instructions, not very clear as to interchangeability and one of the attachments was missing (although, not bothered about that).

Really long cord, previously had a cordless vax but battery always ran out half way through cleaning, however the cord on this can cover my relatively small bungalow without having to change plug in each room. Quite light too with good suction and easy to empty/clean.. Only downside is that the cleaning bar is non removable and as the girls in my family all have long hair, I need to cut them off and pull the hairs out of the rotation bar manually after every clean, so as to keep it from clogging. For the price compared to other vacuums I would recommend, better than the cordless model

The cable storage hooks are too small for this length of cable and make it difficult to store the cable as I would like. Easy to use but putting the hose on is a bit of a faff, would prefer the hose to be already attached for just picking up bits around the edge of the room and sofa, the one attached isn’t quite long enough. I have two of these vacuums, one for upstairs and one for downstairs. I used to be a committed Dyson customer for many years but tried a Vax after another Dyson bit the dust. The suction on these lightweight machines is far superior to that of the Dyson, therefore, the cleaning is better. I have 3 dogs, two of whom shed copious amounts of fur. This machine copes with no problems. I did find that vacuuming the stairs I would lose a little suction as I have a large staircase and the hose wasn’t quite long enough. However, I remedied that by buying an extension hose. These vacuums also come with a very generous electrical cord, so I don’t have to keep moving to another plug socket to reach. For the price and quality I will stick to Vax vacuuming from now on.

My old Hoover vacuum cleaner gave up the ghost recently and I considered a cordless vacuum. However couldn’t justify spending so much on something like a Dyson (maybe that’s how he can afford an expensive apartment in Singapore), and cheaper models have short run time. Used it on my carpets, on which the pile had become flattened and it lifted the pile and now feels springy underfoot. Very lightweight and easy to use, however do miss having the ball feature for ease of manoeuvrability which I had on my Hoover model, but soon got to grips with it. Only problem was registration, online form asked for serial number beginning with “V” nothing on product label, and also proof of purchase. Filled in as much as I could, including Amazon order number but emailed by Vax and asked for photo of product label and copy of Amazon order. Still don’t know if my cleaner is registered with Vax Not tried on stairs yet but otherwise very satisfied.

Having always had Dyson hoovers, this Van compares well to the great suction power. However, like a previous reviewer, having to unattached the head and then attach the hose to do stairs or awkward corners, is rather laborious after the Dyson which houses it’s hose in the central wand and therefore very easy to take out and use. Despite this and only having had it a short time, so far I’m pleased overall with this Vax hoover, especially as it was 200 cheaper than a new Dyson! Will be interesting to see if it suffers from a loss of suction over time.

We’ve had the vacuum about 4 weeks now. It has great suction and it s fairly light and easy to use. Cleaning the vacuum out is simple as well. Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersVery quiet compared to our old VAX cleaner. Has a lot of suction, and the function to turn off the rotating brush on hard floors is very welcome. Only negative is the rotating brush is difficult to keep free of hair (we have a dog) which has a tendency to get wound round it and restricts the movement.

Update: – The issue of hair being wound round the brush at the sides where the bearing is housed results in that scorching smell of hot hair.I have had to undo the cover, completely remove the brush and belt and the cut the ring of hair around the bearing at both ends using a scalpel. This IMO is a serious design flaw with this cleane

We were speaking to a man in Currys who sold a similar one to this and he was comparing it to the Dyson. He said the Dyson was better but had to admit that when you compared the price tags of 100 vs 250, he could not really justify the 150 difference.

We went for the 100 Vax and we have been delighted. It doesn’t have the largest waste container but that just means if we vacuum the house (large semi), we have to empty it at the end. We are talking about a task that takes a minute to do well and then you have a vacuum cleaner that works as good as the day we bought it.

It is a little heavy and hard to push around when you compare it to a traditional compact vacuum cleaner and I really miss the cable recall but Dyson do not have this either.

I’ve read some people picked this up for 80 on Black Friday. If you can get it for that price, it is simply a steal.

Golden Review Award: 237 From Our UsersHandle very flimsy, suction is out of this world. Slightly worried how long handle will hold up to rigour of yanking vacuum cleaner across carpet it is trying to rip off the floor. The amount of fine dust this hoover collects is worrying, it looks like a sandpit. I have a dyson DC29 as well (5 years old plus) which is currently outperformed by this. I doubt this will be the case in 2 years, but, we’ll see. Paid 79.99. (still better than Dyson, doesn’t seem to have lost suction yet)

EDITED March 2019- 18 months in, this Vax is still outstanding, nothing is broken, still collects worrying amounts of fine dust from carpets on a weekly basis. Adjustable suction facility is a must use on lino floors, couldn’t be happier with this fax. Changed review to five stars.

I love the length of the electric cord, I can do the whole downstairs without unplugging and moving the plug as I move rooms. The hose is also sufficient to complete the stairs without over stretching.

One go over the living room short pile rug, and voila perfect, labrador hair gone! I did want to buy the Pet Air stretch but it was out of stock; but quite honestly this has done the job. With the extension hose, plus the fact that I can use the handle to reach the ceilings; it is all good.

Only criticism was the delivery by Yodal. By the time I got to the door the delivery man was down the bottom of drive and yelled the box was on my front door step. As I am elderly it was too large and awkward for me to lift, so then had to find a kind neighbour to lift it indoors. As it was pouring with rain I was not happy.I hope this can be taken up with the courier.

For those people who have had problems with the spares to go turbo tool mine fits perfectly into the handle extension/hose extension and it stores on the machine by sitting it in the hose at side of machine.A review did say there was no where to store the turbo tool but that is where I put mine when machine not in use so know where it is at all times.Hope this helps.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersMy Dyson failed just out of guarantee so looked for alternative. Decided the VAX was the one as it had all I required of a cleaner.
Unpacked it, put the bits together, switched it on and away it went. Suction is so good it does make it a little harder to push along but will get used to it I am sure. Not to heavy to lift upstairs and the hose attachment is far superior to the Dyson. The extra long lead means that all downstairs can be cleaned from one socket with no unplugging needed. Same for the upstairs.
