Although the mower works well I could not get the app to work with my wi-fi, the app will work with the mowers hot spot wi-fi but this reduces the options that can be used ,but on the hole it does the job and starts and finishes at the times that I programmed in to it. Would have given it 5 stars if the app had worked on my home wi-fi w

So pleased with this mower. Much easier to install than you might think – although found a first class video on YouTube. One of those things that’s easy when you know how! All in all an excellent purchase

Easy to setup but the recommended 30 cm from edges when installing the wire is too much I would 1/2 that distance or you will have too much long grass round edges. The app needs a lot of work. Crashes a lot when trying to add a schedule so using manually for now. Also on 1st cut I recommend high cut setting And lower in stages I used mid to low and lawn is too short and now turning yellow poor judgment on my part.

    Impressive

So I very nearly sent this back to fiery depths of hell whence it came.but please read the review

However after a little bit a patience looking at a few YouTube videos throwing away the manual they give you arguing with the wife that I’ve wasted 300 that sort of thing.true man style I persisted to prove a point.

We have an uneven garden so I set it up with the wire on the surface pined and first attempt out it ceremoniously ran over and shredded the wire you can see why the rage levels rose. Repaired the wire set it off it came out of the dock and just spun and bumped round in a circle..I discovered at this point that it was quite light and I could easily launch it over to the neighbours garden.. so I stoped unplugged it sat in the garden and watched a very informative, slightly cheesy, YouTube video.

    So basically..
1, if you imagine your garden is a clock point the dock in a clockwise direction so the mower comes out in clockwise direction.

2, make sure the wire from the dock is dead central in a straight line for about 6ft, this will allow the mower to leave and dock properly.

3, bury the wire, this took about 2 hours, this avoids cutting it, tripping over it or getting something caught in the wire.

4, have patience..you won’t but it helps, it will get lost (robot mower talk for lost in your garden) it will get stuck but it’s not that often, try pressing the home button as we do it then wakes up and either carries on or goes back to the dock.

5, we leave ours in the dock at night but switch it off ( big red switch) over night.

In general this little mower trundles round the garden problem free doing its job, docks when it’s finished so overall I’m very happy even the wife has said it’s quite therapeutic to watch.

It is entry level just remember that, it’s basic, for that reason I like i

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersFirst things first. The packaging was good and delivered in a timely manner. The wire and pegs were sufficient for our lawm (which I was sceptical about as although our lawn is not huge we do have a series of islands and curves). The spare connectors came in handy when the mower chopped through the wire due to me not pegging it down enough (I was too trying to save pegs but there was plenty of spare pegs so needn’t have caused myself this grief).
Had the mower operating for two months now. There were some initial teething problems e.g. tree root caused it to dig up the soil likewise when crossing the footpath there was at some points a bit of a step upto the lawn but the wheels could not get purchase on the paving stones. After a little thatch removal it operates really well. The lawn has never looked so good and not no clippings to get rid of. Truly wonderful.
The only downside is the lawn edging to the border. The instructions say lay the wire 30cm from the edge but if you do that you end up with long grass growing where ithe mower does not reach. We solved this by by laying a block paving border to the lawn and as the blocks are 20cm if you lay the wire on the lawnside next to the block like we did you do not need to cut the untidy bits giving us a lovely easy care lawn. This is the most useful item I have ever purchased and cannot recommend it enough and has replaced a 19″ petrol mower that was heavy and continually had to have the grass collector emptied.

What a fantastic Robot Mower.its small easy to install once the Perimeter wire is pegged around the outer edge . Plug in set the WiFi and off it goes .there are lots of cutting height adjustments but I just run mine on max height tbh which is about 45mm. I have found compared my usual adjustable electric Mower. It cuts the grass for about 1h in a random pattern then finds its way back to the charge station. Takes about 1h to recharge then off it goes again .you leave it cutting for as long as it takes to cut the whole lawn which somedays is 3h ( for 100m2) .this may sound allot but the family and friends always want to see it in action so it’s out allot cutting the lawn in the random pattern . Fabulous design the radar senses objects and then turns to head in another direction. The cut height adjust is easy to use. You must leave your lawn clear of clutter though ideally to let the Mower do its work. Cuts the grass a trea

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersTook me about an hour to install the wire round the lawn and a couple of days tweaking the wire, now it works perfect. Cuts every day without fail, been set up for a good month now and not missed a cut. The rain function is very good as it delays the cut if the weather is bad. Also avoids objects on the lawn such as the kids toys. Only negative point is I have a raised bed and it leaves about 2 inch as doesn’t cut to edge of the machine.

I have Ms and slowly witnessed my once well maintained lawn become overgrown and it was heart wrenching. Mowing was impossible because of the pain.
Now my Yard Force or Jurgen as we call it has solved everything!
Easy to install, connected the wire to the two points to the rear and around the circumference of the lawn.
I’ve had to change the position of the wire a few times as I became experienced.
Easy to follow instructions and when programmed off he goes..
Lawn is great for April, extremely happy with the product. Has remained outside and survived a few U.K. storms so is weatherproof.
Would recommend definitely if you are less able.

This robot mower has proved to be very good and reliable. I have a bumpy irregular shaped lawn and it has coped well. It occasionally goes across the perimeter wire, but I have noticed this only happens when it’s raining. I guess it interferes with the signal. Because it has lasted over two years now, I would certainly recommend. I believe husquavana have bought it from yard force or copied it, they look almost identical. I’m very pleased with this robot mower.

Takes a bit of time to set it up and watch it go
You have to watch it for a few hours to see if it gets stuck any where
It finds divers where it gets stuck note where it happens and fill them in or out an obstacle there to stop the mower from going in to it again
Note there not a lot of clearance to the ground any thing over 2.5 cm will get it stuck such as a tuft of grass
Also the normal lawnmower should be set lower than 4 cm to get it to a manageable hight for the robot to cope

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersMy first impressions with theSa650eco mower were positive. It is easy to program and sets off each day at the same time. The mower even continued to cut the grass in the rain without any ill effects. The problem I have encountered is when I contacted Yardforce to buy a spare battery ( they only last 2-3 years) they informed me they do not sell spare batteries making the machine useless after a couple of years. A pity as I was about to buy another machine for the front garden, now it has to be a machine that makes buying a replacement battery possible,
The reviewer that stated they have to manually take it back to the dock is strange. The mower does indeed use the boundary wire to return home and it never fails to do this with my machine. Wherever it is on the lawn it sets off until it meets the boundary wire and then follows it back to the dock. I would have given this mower 5 stars if it weren’t for the fact I can’t find a supplier of a spare battery.

  29. AbelGettyuyz says:

The boundary wire seems a bit fragile and easily broken, and even when set up as directed, it’s easy for the machine to get caught on obstructions outside the mowed area. But when it’s going, it does a good job.

    Robots how cool!.

Give them time and they become excelent.
Tip when buying this dont expect this to work without some tweaking spending time getting the boundry wire correct.
Yes it got stuck quite a few times at first and cutting boundry lines. All part of the learning process. At first you need to baby sit it to sort out issues. sorted out the boundry wire and it now cuts fine no issues and no getting stuck.
The Radar works great which is missing of the othet budget models. It does not like bumpy uneven lawns but now I sorted the few places it goes well. I have now since buried the boundry wire around the lawn so no more cutting and I can no leave him to his job on his own.

I love mine and my robot hoover. Great it you stick at it.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI was a bit apprehensive about going for a “cheaper” make/model but for 330 this does a great job. I tested it on half the old garden before our new lawn goes down next week and works perfectly after only 1/2 hour setting up. You don’t need WiFi, Bluetooth or an app. This is super cool and works a treat. You also get 80m wire and spare blades. What’s not to like? Big tip, do a small area first and see where the wire should go to get to the edge before committing fully. I put mine on at 8pm and it seems like a good time rather than early morning when it’s dewy. Do it, you won’t be disappointed

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersJust brilliant.

    Easy setup….

    1. Lay/site the perimeter wire…. this is the hardest/most boring/most time consuming part.

    2. Site the base unit/charging station.

    3. Wire to a spur or plug into outside socket.

    4. Select signal code to make sure mower and base are the same.

    5. Turn the mower on and put it in the cutting area near the station and press the home key…. if it docks…. BINGO, set your mowing time, grab a gin and tonic, forget about Eastenders and see how easy cutting grass can really be.

If it doesn’t dock, make sure charging station is not too close to a wall or obstruction….. like the edge of decking… it really makes a difference.

We have 520sq m of lumpy bumpy lawn, set on a 4hr cut, over 3 days we notice all grass is even, no high spots. It manages the uneven surface well….. doesn’t appreciate molehills tho!!

Golden Review Award: 26 From Our UsersBefore buying the Yardforce Compact 280R I did a lot of research. I do not know anyone who has bought one so I couldn’t gather experienced comments . I wanted one to cut a small area so there was only any need to study the entry level models on offer.

The first thing to say is manage your expectations, if you have a crap lawn unkempt full of weed with pot holes lots of divots etc do not expect any robot to make it better, in fact a robot may not be for you or you may not be ready for a robot. I would say they are for people who don’t mind/ like or enjoy gardening, don’t mind cutting lawns (but like me would prefer not to if there is a viable alternative). I actually get a bit of “lawn anxiety”, I even like my stripes, but I don’t like it being left, so the regular cutting of a robot seems ideal for me and I’m prepared to sacrifice the stripes.

Be patient when setting it up, do not expect it to be press and go and you will need to invest time fitting the guide wire and making some fine tuning corrections, do not sink the wire into the ground, only do this after a few weeks when you’ve got it doing what you want it to do. All my teething issues were because of me or the lawn, the yardforce was not at fault.

My yardforce is possibly not needed, but it is an experiment for my much larger rear garden that cannot be linked for one robot to do front and back. The functionality of this model is pretty simple and basic (with no Wi-fi functionality) once you get to know it. It works on a 7 days-a-week programme, and in most scenarios will run two one hour cutting programmes per day. it’s early days but this is probably too much for a small lawn. The only way you can change this is by turning it off which is what I will do, if we go away on holiday it will just cut 7 days a week whether it is needed or not, that isn’t a bother to me.

My layout is very simple, just a lawn on a slope with borders, no flower beds, trees or rocks etc within the cutting area . I do like the sensors, they stop the robot actually bumping into things so in theory it never bumps into anything like many other robots on the market that actually rely on coming into contact with an object. This means the robot should not get any “impact marks”. The down side of this is it sometimes senses an object (in my case a hedge) marginally before it gets to the boundary wire.

The first cuts have been made in November, but it definitely looks better than next door that hasn’t been touched for weeks. The robot can be let out in damp conditions to do its job when “conventional” cutting will churn up the grass. Mine is only a small lawn but it doesn’t leave any uncut tufts, only the edges will need the occasional trim.

You must consider how to protect the Yardforce, a garage is recommended. I agree, it should not be left out in the open for too long so consider this preferably before buying. Either make one yourself, as I did, or buy one of many on offer on various web sites.

This yardforce feels sturdy but I will not know how good it is for at least a year. I am aware there are other brands that boast superior build quality etc and you have to pay a lot more. Time will tell. I was fortunate to get mine on Amazon for 245 new (not used), at the time this is a bargain as the price has since returned to 340.

    3 MONTH UP DATE
I’ve just started to use for the 2021 season. I have some observations. 1. My lawn is very small and having written to Yardforce (excellent customer contact) I now realise there is no facility to reduce cutting times automatically. It cuts for 4 hours minimum, 7 days a week, this is too much. The answer is I control it manually by switching it off after one cut. I can also leave it off for a day or so as at this time of year daily cutting is unnecessary. 2. Our lawn has a slight slope. When cutting across the slope it does not hold a straight line it tends to curve with the slope. Not really a problem but an observation. 3. The “eyes” prevent the Yardforce from bumping into obstacles, the only thing is it prevents it from cutting up to the edge of the lawn e.g. when it gets close to my hedge. No adjustment to the boundary wire can help in this situation. 4. This model does not have a pin code security facility so if it is stolen, and the base station is stolen with it, it will still function for the thief (he/she would only have to buy a new boundary wire). Do not buy this model if this is a serious consideration.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIt’s a basic robot lawnmower but if you don’t mind pressing 2 or 3 buttons to get your lawn automatically mown on a regular basis then this is the one for you. Yes it cuts randomly but in my case covers an area of approximately 40 square yards very quickly despite being on a fairly steep gradient and keeps the lawn looking lovely with no need to dispose of any cuttings. It would probably ground itself on a very uneven lawn but I guess others would too. The sensors work very well and provided you position the boundary wire in the correct position and preferably buried just below ground level it shouldn’t cause any concerns. I cannot fault this mower and provided it proves to be reliable then I would imagine most owners of it will be glad they didn’t part with ridiculous sums of money for mowers that do basically the same job but perhaps with more high tech additional gadgetry which in a lot of cases maybe unnecessary. Upon registration you will have the benefit of a 3 year warranty which should provide peace of mind in the event of a problem.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersFirstly I have always wanted a robotic mower for my reasonable sized garden. It takes about 40 minutes to mow my lawn before buying this product so I now don’t have to think about it. I looked at the flymo which was always going up in price and decided to choose the yardforce because it seemed to do the same job. What a fantastic mower. It is just fantastic. Easy to install if you follow the instructions and then adjust the boundary wire afterwards once you know where the mower cuts to. The neighbours have commented on it and it is really quiet so can now at night no problem. Love it. Buy it.

Golden Review Award: 26 From Our UsersI bought this robotic mower for my boyfriend as a Christmas present. He has been wanting one for a while now and this was much more in the suitable price range in comparison to others. The instruction manual was really easy to follow and there is a support line telephone number on the box to call in case you need assistance which is great! The boundary wire is easy to lay and stop / starting the machine is also really easy. We spend a lot of time working away so this little bot is perfect to keep the lawn neat and tidy. The packaging was also great there was not loads of plastic to tackle. Would definitely recommend. It’s also great to know that I have a 3 year warranty (You need to register online to extend for a year.)
