Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought this dvr to replace an old Hickvision analogue recorder that refused to email anymore due to it’s outdated security protocols. Furthermore, I could no longer view the live stream on 4G via Giffgaff; their fault, not the recorder’s. Anyway, this was on offer at a super low price, so I bought it.
Whilst it’s ok and does what it’s supposed to do, it does have drawbacks.
The biggest being that it is “lite” for a reason. As others have stated, if you’re after full HD, look elsewhere. The resolution on this IS 1080 – BUT, it’s 960 x 1080 ! This equates to around 1Meg, not the 2 Meg that they would have you believe. 960 is usually sold as being a higher resolution than standard D1 but It isn’t. 960 is exactly the same resolution as D1 but with a 16:9 aspect ratio rather than a 4:3 aspect ratio. It’s widescreen standard definition !!
In my case, I was prepared to overlook that deficiency, as this dvr does email me and the app does work over 4G. My old analogue cameras do give a rather fuzzy image, but it’s high time I replaced them anyway, so I’ve already begun to purchase new widescreen ones.
I have to admit that this dvr does everything that I need, albeit with a bit of manipulation. The menus are a bit long winded, but contrary to what others have said, event recording only IS possible if you study, think and manipulate the menus accordingly. The monitored image isn’t great but it’s sufficient to see what the local yobs are doing to your garage door. In my case, that should improve as I slowly replace the 4 cameras in my system. As stated earlier, I just wanted to be able to see my cameras on 4G and this dvr allows me to do that.
At the price I bought it for, it would have been silly not to get it, but if you’re after a high end system, this isn’t for you.

    UPDATE:

Following contact from Annke and their willingness to bend over backwards to help me with a couple of issues I’ve had, I am upgrading to 4 stars, as their customer support is exemplary. You really couldn’t wish for a more helpful company as they are totally committed to your satisfaction. Many companies could learn a lot from Annke.

So I bought this for around 50 then added a HDD I had lying around. I’m blown away by the features for this money.

The on the box software is pretty usable. It also offers a smartphone app or a webui. As far as I can tell pretty much every setting is exposed via these alternative interfaces. So you can stick the DVR box out of the way and just use remote access to control it.

Motion detection seems good, notifications come through onto my phone with a picture of the camera. If your camera supports it 2way audio is possible. Lets you draw exclusion zones. So, if your camera points outside of your boundaries you can exclude the motion detection from those areas.

Something I didn’t expect to be an option but it supports RTSP so you can grab the live stream from the box using vlc/ffmpeg and stream it live to youtube. Guides on how to do this are available on annke’s own help pages.

I bought this to go with my WIFI camera. I found it difficult to start recordings, and impossible to get it to record on motion detect, but 24hr worked OK. I added a second WIFI camera, and that went OK, and I could see both. However, I could not and cannot get it to record both! Accordingly I have removed the first (lower quality) camera and now use only one on continuous record. Not enough examples/help in the instruction manual. Am I happy with my purchase? YES. Would I recommend it? YES. PS I am a retired IT Teacher, so consider myself more knowledgeable than most users.

The only problem with it is that I can’t get British time as it keeps putting it 1 hr behind so I’ve haft to use another country’s time zone which is equivalent to the U.K. other than that very pleased with the quality

having used 2 previous cheap boxes (20 ish) i was getting sick of the flakey android software that came with them, specifically XMEYE and BITVISON,annke supply their own app which i really cant fault, though it is slighly cryptic to install.just get the app from the play store and ignore the QR code in the box network menu, the QR code you need to scan for the app is UNDER the dvr box on a sticker.after that its plain sailing providing you have UPNP set in your router.picture quality even with 960 AHD cams is superb, works flawlessly with 2 HD IP cams as well.for 52 its a bargain!

I bought this after my swann dvr died, i have put in a WD 4tb cctv hard drive, and connected my four existing bnc cameras and after a bit of playing around with the settings got it all up and running. I then bought a WiFi ip camera for my garage, this I have to say was more of a challenge to get connected as instructions are virtually impossible to find. Perseverance paid off an I now have this working flawlessly along with the other cameras. Can’t comment on longevity of this product but to date no issues, and for the money I don’t think you can go wrong. Will be attempting to connect a ptz wifi ip camera soon.

Was pleasantly surprised to see that this is a Hikvision DVR under the hood (inside and out). The web interface is identical with just the colours changed from red to blue.
Funny enough a lot of the spelling errors I have on another Hikvision DVR are corrected though it may just be the newer firmware this one is running.
What I did like especially was the Android app which was a royal pain in the bum to set up on Hikvision but the Annke version looks to be their own and was a doddle by comparison to set up.
All in all very pleased and a bargain at this price.

This is the second system I have purchased, my last system that I purchased in 2017 think gave up! The customer service was fast and excellent, they went through all the possibilities of the problem, till I decided a new system was a better option, they advised me on the system that was compatible with my current cameras! Great system for the price!

With this being only 50, I really didn’t know what to think, but I took a punt on it,,,, and I must say Annke what a cracking little DVR, worked without any issue out of the box, picture quality is good, web interface works well and works with Chrome unlike many other DVR’s. The metal and plastic case does feel a little cheap, but the unit seems to work really well and has a lot of features that were lacking on my old DVR.
The only thing that I could fault was the fact that the casing is only stamped for 3.5″ hdds, this really needs to be addressed as 2.5″ hdds produce a lot less heat than the larger drives, but I saying that I did manage to fit a 2.5″ drive into it and its working well.

So all in all well done Annke for producing a really nice DVR, which runs a really great OS and is fast and snappy both in the console and the web interface.

I had a few little niggles with this product on first installation. Primarily, it appeared to not offer constant recording WITH highlighted motion, but it does! It’s just not obvious how to do it. Annke support have been really good, despite the time difference. Each communication has been responded to promptly, and I’ve now got all my niggles sorted. Whilst getting the motion markers sorted I discovered that there is a really useful feature that wasn’t present on my old H.View box. When searching for motion of other events, you can pick out a section, or exclude sections of the image area, where you want, or don’t want motion. Just to be clear, this is done at the playback stage (even though you can set this in the normal way). The benefit of this is that you can avoid that spider’s web, or moths flying about. A really, really nice feature.
As a future feature request, it would be nice if Line Crossing was available on more than 2 cameras at a time.

Nice to set up and they look as though they have a decent tech support.
Not used the tech support myself but you never know when you might need them
The unit is a hybrid where you can use existing BNC cameras and IP.
A lot better to select how many of each you want to use compared to other brands
With other brands you are limited to how many you can share with.
Nice unit and easy to use

I have had one of these units set up in my wife’s shop. So when I needed another it was a no brainer.
I won’t say it’s easy to set up as you will need some computer knowledge to get everything out of it.

Having said that, if you only want basic settings on it, it’s not that hard.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersOur 10yr old DVR failed to restart after a power down, so while waiting to repair the PSU I purchased this as a replacement. For the money I wonder if its worth repairing the old one as the parts plus my time will cost 1/3 of the cost of this.
Easy enough to set it up, remember you need a hard drive, but I had loads of spare ones kicking about and so for now chucked a SATA 250gig one in and was recording my 10yr old cameras in minutes, I have found 250gig gives me a weeks recording on 3 cameras in real time, compared to my old DVR H264 compression could only run at 10fps to get that kind of storage, so a definite improvement.
This unit can do a lot and in someways seems overly complicated, I miss not having a TV style remote to access things like the old one had and everything has to be done with a mouse plugged in the back which is OK if the unit is in easy reach but mines tucked up out the way on a high shelf.
As normal some of the instructions are a bit sketchy and could do with better explanation for all the settings you can change, not that you need to but to get the best from it then its worth rummaging about.
I’ve yet to connect it onto the network so cannot comment at this time of its network ability but once I do I’ll report back and update this review, hopefully over the Christmas break.

I bought this unit to replace a failed h.264 DVR from another manufacturer. I took the HDD from the failed unit and installed in the Annke box, plugged in my cameras, mouse, monitor and connected the power and I could see my cameras as soon as the DVR had booted up. I followed the on-screen instructions and installed the Annke Vision app on my phone and everything worked perfectly. The picture quality is excellent and remote access is a breeze using the app. Within an hour I had access from my PC, 2 Android phones, an Android tablet and an iPad. Great value item. Highly recommended.

This system has given me several years of reliable performance and was easily configured and deployed in my home. Recently I noticed that the system was no longer recording, which after initial checks, I could see that the disk drive was not visible! Further investigation proved the disk to be fine and that it was the power supply at fault, which was disguised by the fact that the same power supply was capable of powering the system!

I emailed customer service and was immediately replied to with the offer of a replacement psu, despite being just out of warranty. This is absolutely why this company will get my appreciation and recommendation, as this no quibble customer service is often a rare commodity and the very reason why buying these products from reputable sources, fills me with confidence and satisfaction. Excellent service thank you!

Unlike some of the other models the software on this is pretty reasonable. I was able to export to USB review only alarms etc. Pretty basic stuff but if you have struggled with some of the other Chinese attempts at software you will find this much easier to use.

You need to buy/install a Hard disk to use this and thats easy to. I used an SSD so it doesn’t use much power and is reasonably silent.

Ideal for replacing an existing unit or starting out.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersEasy to set up if, like me, you already have the cameras in place – it just recognised them and worked straight away.
Getting the box to let me remotely view online was another matter however, because, as other people have noted, the instruction manual isn’t terribly well written, or translated.
You first have to set up an Annke account online and register a password. Then I could not get the suggested app to work at all.
I got to the point where I was about to return the box and I read a helpful reviewer who said to use the Annke Vision app rather than that suggested by the manual.
Hey presto the app worked immediately and allows me to view my cameras via the internet anywhere- providing piece of mind when away from home.
So usingvthe Annke Vision app 4/5, using the suggested app 1/5!
Overall this box is a bargain- a huge improvement over its predecessor in my house! It’s fairly well designed and has a reasonably straightforward interface- so long as you can connect it to a computer monitor or your tv allows input from a computer.
So now it works I’m very happy to recommend it. Though you will need a little patience as it’s not quite plug and play – but for 40 it’s a bargain.

Great DVR! Replacing an older unit by another brand which had failed. Our existing cameras plugged straight in and setting up was easy except one thing – the default HDMI output signal a resolution not compatible with our older “hd ready” tv. It took a bit of effort to fix this – managed to get the unit working on another tv in the house, then changed the HDMI signal output resolution via the on screen menu, then plugged it back into the older TV. A fist pump moment when the signal came through!

Setting up was easy, given all network and camera connections were already in place. I purchased a separate hard drive to use with the Annke for the brands rated reliability for dvr’s (WD Purple HDD) – as was not sure which brand came pre-installed and hard drive reliability is a concern after 2 had failed over the years on the old machine. Installing the HDD is easy – just needed a screwdriver.

Once the easy menu set up was completed, the quality of the recording, plus the feature of selecting “camera zones” for motion detection (fantastic feature), were all above expectation! The whole family commented on the recording clarity (especially compared to the previous unit).

The app is really easy too and worth it alone for peace of mind when away from home.

Telling all family and friends about this machine – it’s worth every penny.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI spend much time away from home so CCTV provides a sense of security so when I finally decided to buy a more comprehensive system this package ticked all the boxes. I bought the SANNCE DVR with optional Hard drive, PTZ Camera and the luxury PTZ controller keyboard/joystick. (I say luxury because you can operate the camera from the DVR – If you have several PTZ cameras then the joystick is an advantage – Most of my cameras are static and can be linked easily to the DVR) Yes it does take some setting up and I’m a software engineer! The instructions as pointed out by another user are limited. However there are many on-line guides. My conclusion: I think it’s an awesome bit of kit for the money, it easily connected to the internet allowing me to view four cameras by remote and that is fantastic – (See attached image) I did have a minor software issue and the Chinese IT support were very helpful. (You do need to be patient baring in mind the time difference and not to colourful in your description) 10/10 Superb!!!

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersMy old dvr went bust (swann from maplins never again!), thought it was the hard drive so bought one (1tb wester digital) it didn’t work, then I bought a quite expensive q-see dvr my bnc cameras wouldn’t show looked dodgy sent it back asap got a refund (hopefully). Then i saw this but thought to cheap to be good enough, but having bought an external hard drive (and another from the old dvr) i thought may as well test it out to at least see if the hard drive works. It did!

Now to review it on first impressions, my camera quality isn’t that great it is night time, the view on the tv is a square not widescreen, but perhaps can be fixed in settings, not sure yet. The set up of the hard drive was straightforward, but couldn’t screw in the hard drive, holes don’t align perfectly and I’ve left the top unscrewed as there’s no fan not that i can see (no wonder one of the reviewers said it’s so quiet).

Apart from that to install to view on internet explorer was easy enough router connected to the back did the trick. Then i used QR app on my smartphone but it didn’t install the app like it said in the guide so I just installed it direct from play store XMEye. Then you click local login and use QR code tech built in to the app to scan the serial number which comes up through the menu, easily explained in the guide. Give any name to your dvr (it needs to be named!) and it worked. Then I tested it out via 4G as was hoping local login didn’t mean it would work only under my home internet, it connected brilliantly so remote connection works smoothly although it will use a fair bit of data through prolonged use.

    All in all

Positives: does everything i need it to, shows my trusty bnc video cameras, records, playsback, can view it online on the home network, and also remotely via smartphone, it can also be viewed remotely on pc, using a cd and some long instructions i couldn’t be bothered with as there’s no point. Delivery super fast so credit the supplier and it all worked!

Negatives: no fan unless there’s a tiny one I’ve missed, and these things can overheat, but a year warranty and it’s only 40 quid, as opposed to 200 spent on others which break just post 1 year…so cautiously optimistic!

Works very well with all the built in software that you will need, added a 1Tb drive. Now get a better picture from all the old cameras, and added some better quality cameras to make full use of the higher quality resolution. We now use three DVR from Sannce no with problems, and they are very good at replying to queries, when we needed help with Windows setup. This box is compact for what it offers and very easy to use.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI bought this as a cheap entry-level DVR for some CCTV cameras I already had. As a straightforward DVR recording to a HHD (bought separately), it’s fine and probably deserves 5 stars for the price. If that’s all you need then this is very good value. There were no instructions at all with mine but the user interface is fairly intuitive for basic use as above. Product info here http://www.sanncegroup.com/index.php.

The DVR unit is a bit noisy with HDD installed but not intrusive. Annoyingly, the DVR’s wall plug 12v power unit failed – I’ve sourced a replacement locally (less hassle than returning it).

Networking is a bit more tricky and the email alert facility doesn’t work for me – it won’t connect to my SMTP server. The cameras can be accessed over local network (LAN) using a browser but won’t work on Chrome as it doesn’t support the required plugin. Firefox is OK but Internet Explorer will give you remote access to the DVR user interface as well and it’s a lot easier than using the DVR/monitor/mouse directly. Make sure that your PC and DVR are both on the network (usually via your router) and type in the local address assigned to the DVR into your browser. You’ll find the DVR address in the DVR’s setting>system>network menu – it will be something like 192.168.1.XX, You can’t access the local network using an Android device as it uses Chrome (per above). Please note that I use Windows 7 so your experience may vary with a different OS.

This DVR comes with a free cloud service and associated XMeye apps (also free) for Apple and Android (Android works OK with the cloud). The cloud can be accessed from a PC here http://www.xmeye.net. You’ll need the serial number of your DVR which you’ll find in the DVR’s setting>info>version menu.

You’ll almost certainly need to set up port forwarding on your router to let your DVR access the internet through its Firewall. I can’t give you detailed advice on this as it will depend on your router and ISP. I can confirm that it works with a (port-forwarded) BT HomeHub.

I get the impression that the product support/website/cloud interface is under continual development. As with a lot of Chinese product data, there are translation issues. I’m happy with my purchase but if you need all the bells and whistles functioning reliably, probably better to go for an established brand. If you want something to play with without worrying about the cost, then this fits the bill.

Seems a great little CCTV DVR for not a lot of money.

I say “seems” because I haven’t used it that much, being a back-up/spare for an existing CCTV DVR that I use. I also don’t make use of any of the fancy features it possesses, just using it for recording and playback, which it accomplishes very well indeed.

I was stumped with the menuing system at first which defaults to Chinese, however once I figured out how to change the language to English the menu’s were easy to navigate and the system pretty easy to set-up.

Fitting a standard 3.5″ sata hard drive was a simple enough task that took only 5 minutes or so and that’s about it.

Oh, I also used a aftermarket wireless dongle and mouse without any problems.

As always quick efficient service/delivery from Amazon.

Golden Review Award: 54 From Our UsersThis is going to be a fairly detailed review so i can give my impressions of this unit. First thing you will want to know, am i keeping it, well yes i am, it was 39 and while not perfect, its certainly worth its money,
i will start with the biggest problems, or at least the ones that disappointed me the most and by far it has to be the recording framerate.
We buy this system because its a 960H resolution, and it is, trouble is at 960H you can only achieve 12 frames a second, you have to turn the whole system down to D1 resolution if you want higher frames a second and it seems the more cameras you add the bit rate can go down too slightly. Im still getting a good picture though, you only really notice it with fast moving objects like cars speeding past.

The second biggest problem is that the remote control is dire, it is very poorly made, almost seems like an after thought with the DVR having a mouse to operate all its functions. The problem seems to be the remote control buttons, they are rubberized and when you press them they dont seem to making contact with the electronics underneath unless you press really hard on them and even then its hit and miss if the button will work because they are so sloppy. Its an easy fix if you go out and buy one of those universal remotes, but that’s not the point really. The remote should work.

I have four cameras up and in 960H because of the wide screen resolution you can only view 2 playback screens at a time which is ok if a little fiddly. Some feedback ive read suggest that it only records 2 cameras in 960H, i thought that myself at first but it doesn’t.
In the playback screen you have to select and deselect 2 cameras at a time, so if like me you have 4 cameras, you will have 4 channels to view, you simple play channels 1 and 2, then when you want to watch channel 3 and 4, you deselect channels 1 and 2 and select 3 and 4 instead.

Fitted the hard drive no problem, the unit is silent when it is recording, Ive seen feedback where the drive is very noisy in these DVRs and it worried me a bit with the DVR sitting in my front room, but that’s really not the case.
If you have noise from your drive when recording then its to do with the drive itself, dont try and fit an old hard drive in something like unless you know the drive is sound with a fast write speed. this is because it might struggle specially if you have your DVR recording 24hr a day, it stresses the drive out too much if it cant cope working all the time and thats where the noise will come from. Its not like fitting it in a PC, the drive in a PC doesn’t work 24hrs a day only when you are loading something or writing something etc then it sits idle and cools down.

Network., i eventually got this to work, its really important that whatever your box is called (the default i believe is localhost) you need to put that name in exactly when you are connecting the apps to the network, it matters.
Its really good if you use internet explorer on a pc or laptop and go to xmeye.net. Doesn’t work on chrome because chrome wont accept applet x plugins, but works on Firefox. simple and it works.
I have an ipad, iphone4s nexus 7 and i got the app to work on all of them, setting it up at first was frustrating but once you get it, its actually very easy. All you need to do if you dont do it on your boot up screen, is right click your mouse to get the menu up, then click GUIDE and this will take you to the QR code which you will need a reader on your device to read it, there are free ones in the app store and play store. or you can just do a search in the store for xmeye and you will find it that way easy enough. now you just sign up to XMeye, username and password and email, the usual stuff..
Now the tricky bit, you have to now add your device, well its not tricky but if you dont get it right it wont connect.
So you have to now logged on with the app and click the big + button to add a device, first put your device name in the first box,the default is localhost you can check this by mainmenu>system>General> it will tell you the machine name in there, put this in your app exactly how you see it.
Next you need your Serial number, you can do this manually or just press the tiny QR code on the sign in page on the app and it will scan the QR code on the guide screen on your cam box the one that says SN, this will input your box serial number in for you.
Now you have to fill in your device user name and password (the default for the DVR box is admin and no password) which of course you should have changed by now to your own. leave the port empty and thats it. make sure your box is connected to the internet via a cable and just press the magnifying glass icon for it to search for your cameras. Its the same process for all devices..

Harder to type than it is to do. 🙂

Anyway, what else..Really like the motion detection system, you can get very detailed in your selection if you wish, like to avoid that swaying plant or bush that keeps setting it off. when the motion detection sets off you can do a number of things with that, you can record that camera, or record a number of cameras at the same time from that one trigger and you can even jump full screen to the trigger camera if you wish, all done automatically, this jumping to the trigger camera is called tour on this system.
you can also magnify a certain point on the screen simply by left click dragging on your picture, its a neat thing but not that much use under 1080p, but nice to have it anyway if you dont go mad trying to spot a fly on a leaf
playback software is fine on this system, it does all you need to do with it,you have play/pause, play backwards, stop, slow playback which goes in 4 increments of slower speed,, you then have reverse fast, fast playback, next file, prev file, repeat playback(which you can toggle on and off) full screen and edit buttons. you also have a nice graph layout to tell you where events took place and you can also choose which event you want to look at. All events, regular events, alarms event(motion detection), manual.
So all this and me upgrading from a 5 year old swann system that cost me nearly 300 smackers seems a bit good to me.
Ok to recap, this system box is cheap, plenty of bang for your buck i think, not perfect though and not something you want to get if you are looking for HD 1080p pin sharp pictures, its not going to happen but then you aren’t paying 300 just for the box
Overall monitoring of your backyards and cars on drives to see what those little sods are up to messing about at your fence or by your car, its perfect for that its also perfect for watching hedgehogs walking across your lawn and cats crapping in your borders but dont expect to read number plates at a 100 yards with this but i will say, the compression on the recordings are really very good on highest quality settings and no difference from the live pictures, which was terrible on the swann system which is why i mention it here.

Given this DVR 4 stars, nothing in life is ever 5 stars not if you are being impartial anyway. like i said its not perfect but the question is really would i buy it again now ive had a play with it, and i can say yes i would and given its overall performance with a bit of fiddling in the menus i would recommend it,at the price i paid for it anyway, at 39 quid its a bargain i have to say.

Not too shabby for the money.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersAfter purchasing 2 yale bullet cameras i was tired of using them via our front room tv… this dvr was just 35 and i fitted a 500gb sata 2.5″ hard drive in 5 minutes and it was up and running within 15 minutes
i then connected the dvr to our home network ( via a rj45/ethernet cable from the dvr to our router ) and then downloaded the app by scanning the code from the menu screen which installed a android app ….. i then configured the app and can now not only use the cameras via the dvr box but can also use them with my samsung galaxy tab
cctv systems have come a long way in the last few years and ive managed to set up a 2 camera security system for under 100 ( 55 for the yale bullet camera,s inc cables and power adapters and 35 for the dvr box ) …. my neighbour payed over 500 for a similar system with 2 camera,s so its much easier and cheaper to do it yourself
tip : do some research and double check compatibility … and you can save hundreds
    excellent !

excellent dvr box for pennies .. read on !

For the most part the features work. I was able to setup motion detect to record only when motion is detected and it works reasonably well. I was able to setup the iPhone app to view the camera on the app. However, the unit is very noisy with HDD fitted. I put an older but fully working Seagate HD in it and its quite noisy even though the HD itself was not noisy in a normal PC. I have this setup near my TV and home threatre system and noise level is not acceptable. The remote control also only works intermittently and only at close range with fresh batteries. The interface is ‘not bad’ but there is a cheap, Chinese feel to it. The build of the box is of reasonably good quality. If the remote worked fine and it was not so noisy I would have given it 4 stars and kept it.

Edited: Returned unit and received one which works fine, No problems with remote control and less noise. I would recommend this unit now

If you just want a basic, easy to install CCTV system this is great. Its as easy as mount the cameras with 3 screws, plug the cameras into the cables, run the wires to the unit and plug them in. Its easier than the average surround sound system.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersFirst I will rate Sannce customer service which has been excellent I ordered the 4 Channel DVR without realising but they immediately refunded the money and I brought the 8 Channel DVR. You can ask for anything else.

As for the product so far so good. I already had cameras in place just the base unit had given up! This worked straight out of the box came up immediately. Installing hard drive was easy and setting up the remote access was not easy but a couple of youtube searches and bob’s your uncle. No need to open a port on your firewall unless you want to! It works via the cloud using the s/n of the DVR so it should be secure. Excellent service and very good product.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersExcellent product which is a breeze to set up, I had it up and running in just a few mins! I have put 2tb internal storage into it so can record weeks worth of footage with room to spare. Also simple to connect my android device so I can watch live whilst away from home. Excellent!

Bought this so I could connect a wirelss camera to the TV via HDMi. I am pleasantly suprised by the unit. I have nothing to compare it to but it seems fairly easy to use and I have 2 cameras connected and recording. It took me 10 minutes to install the hard drive and format it and I was working from the box in less than 1/2 hour.
The only bit I can’t work out is how to record only when movemnt occurs, but its probably me or the cameras ability not the unit.

For the price its very good!
