Was looking for a tower that had a few different grips and would fit inside. I have put this in an unused bedroom with some other weights etc. and it is perfect. This review is for the BangTong&Li Power Tower Workout Pull Up & Dip Station. Item arrived undamaged, was packaged well, and came with all components necessary to put together.
Onto the item itself. The first thing I noticed was the black powder coat or paint, seemed to be well done. There were no scratches or areas that were thin in color. All of the bolts, nuts, washers were included and accounted for. It even included a couple of wrenches. I recommend to use at least 1 ratcheting wrench (if you happen to have one) it makes assembly a lot easier. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. The welding and steel frame seems good enough to support my weight.
The reason I chose the BangTong&Li Power Tower is for its close grip parallel pullup option. I just wanted a variation grip to target different muscles. Other pullup/dip stations did not have the parallel bars. So for features this BangTong&Li Power Tower met most of my needs and is overall a good pullup/dip station.
The other reasons I chose the BangTong&Li is that I wanted a small footprint, and for my current exercise needs (bodyweight exercises) is more than sufficient. One thing reviewers don’t mention is the cross comparison to a power rack. And I did strongly consider a power rack, but ultimately decided on a station when I really considered the types of exercises (bodyweight) I could commit to doing regularly, the smaller footprint, and overall cost.
The downsides…
I wish the handles portions of the frame were thicker or larger in diameter. It is a very thin tube with thin plastic grips. You can see in my pictures, I added a couple of rubber grips for grip training. As mentioned in the title of this review, the station itself is not entirely stable, although I am not faulting the station completely since it could be my garage is not level. However, my recommendation to the manufacturer is to just flare out the base where the pushup handles are by 10-15 degrees like other designs. This will make the station a bit more stable and also allow proper pushup grip. I feel that the pushup handles are too close together for proper pushups.
Also, this tower when fully extended is only suited for a person about 5’10 in height. Anyone taller you will have to bend your knees for pullups.
The logo on the back pad is ugly but easily fixed (I just put black tape over it).
Overall, I fully recommend the BangTong&Li Power Tower Workout Pull Up & Dip Station. It is definitely good enough for a bodyweight push/pull workout for average height/weight individuals. For anyone taller, heavier, or wanting a more “hardcore” workout should probably go the power rack route.
