These boots fit nicely and are definitely durable, and lightweight. Easy enough to break in too and doesn’t lose shape easy either.
Not bad? I bought them for the zipper so I don’t have to keep messing with laces when putting my motorbike waterproofs on and off at work. obviously wearing them at work too. I’m a handyman for a supermarket so not a tough environment for the boots but a fair bit of walking.

Was looking for a stop-gap pair of boots. Actually found a genuinely good pair of boots. I suffer from arthritis in my big toe joints, and walking distance is very painful. These enabled me to walk 7.5 miles in relative comfort. Unheard of for a good few years. So comfortable, so supportive, and easy to get on and off with the additional zip.

These looked great but unfortunately were too small. However, no quibble return and paid back within two days.

The boots are perfect for my work. The quality seems good, with light sratches on it after wearing for a week. After a month, some deep cuts on the side, with abrasions. The boots are tight on the sides and they fit perfectly. I would prefer it to be a bit wide. The velcro over the zip is something that I am not a fan of. I usually use my boots for at least a year. I don’t think that the velcro will last for that long. The boots are good.

Boots are comfy lightweight and waterproof as long as you don’t go paddling in the sea, good grip on wet grass and mud and the side zip is a cool feature for a fast escape from quicksand
These boots are really nice and comfy to wear. provide great ankle support and are nice and stompy.

The Black Hammer men’s boots are made primarily from smooth leather and have a composite tie cap to protect your toes from getting crushed and help to reduce the overall weight. The soles are grippy and feature oil and slip resistant materials that all so reduce the build up of static electricity for extra safety in the work place.
My foot size is uk size 8 and the boots are true to size with a nice snug fit. I would always recommend breaking in a boots before using them for work as this helps prevent blisters and allows the boots to soften and adjust to your foot shape. These boots have a very military style look to them which I personally think is quite cool. I have mainly used mine while outside working with a chainsaw and I feel quite comfortable and confident in their ability to protect and keep my feet warm and dry. The boots come with a six month sole warranty. Overall theses might not be as comfortable as some of the much more expensive brands but for 39.99 I can’t complain and I would recommend them.
The boots are very comfortable to wear and very sturdy, they do feel slightly tight around the width of the foot so perhaps go up one size. The boots state that they are waterproof, which they are ok for something like rainfall but when I stood in a puddle the water actually deeper inside the boot.
The boots do feel like they are made to last despite the low price and they do make you feel like your feet are protected, like all boots they need breaking in and some use to soften up but the inside of the boots feel very comfortable and can easily wear these for hours. Overall the price for these boots is good value and the comfort is excellent.
A completely different style boot compared to what my partner is used to, he usually just had slip on just over the ankle. These are alot higher up the leg and feel quite chunky. Military/army style they feel heavy duty, with a nice solid feel. Waterproof up to the bottom of the zip opening which unfortunately isnt very high. They have a good steel toe cap to them, like most safety boots. Oil and slip resistant, long lasting soles with anti static heels. Zip and lace up, gives good support to your feet. Easy to put on and take off, just felt a little tight on my partners feet. The style of boot takes some getting used to, but probably where hes not used to something so big/high up. Feels well made and they even give you a 6 month sole warranty.
ied these on a days airsofting and they are very nice and sturdy. sole is firm so you don’t feel stones like in cheaper ones. Side zip and velcro cover makes an easy fit. stitching is good with no loose threads or visible glue. the boots are comfortable and supportive.
I was surprised by quite how comfortable these boots were when first put on. Footwear like this normally requires a period of breaking-in, but not so here – these were very comfortable right away. There’s plenty of padding, and the size is as expected.
The primary closure is a side zip, which is covered by a Velcro strip to keep water at bay. The fit can be fine-tuned by adjusting the laces. The toecap seems very solid, and the soles provide a very good grip. They also look great, and seem very well-made.

I do feel like these boots will give you plenty of protection. But not sure how they will feel on your feet if you did a full days graft in these. They aren’t the most comfortable of boots.
Comfort.
The soles inside are quite hard, which doesn’t give a particularly nice feeling when you wear them. The padding on the sides of the boots don’t offer much either in terms of comfort.
Besides that, they have plenty to offer. Especially the protection.
Protection
Very good, hard toes, you know they will prevent any pain/damage if you were to drop something on them.
Nice protection across the rest of the boot in the main areas, but in addition, they do offer plenty of flexibility.
I love how they are really high. They offer good shielding right up the shin/leg.
Outsoles
The sole has plenty of grip, a nice hard and durable rubber all along the bottom. It is pretty flexible due to the design and does look like it will last. I do think the anti static is a plus. Especially in zones where there is a chance of an arc/discharge. This could cause explosion or fire.
Practicality.
Getting in and out of the boots is a sinch, with the zip and lace combination it takes all of the hassle out of it. That is another plus point. The laces are strong and the zip is also very well made and appears durable.
Verdict.
I definitely recommend these boots. Excellent value for money and provide top level protection. It would be a 5* but they are not so comfortable. Adding an insole has made them so much better.
When I saw these safety boots were up for review, I was keen for my husband to try them out as he has been looking for some longer boots for a while.

I was really impressed with the quality. The material is robust and they are quite neat and tidy. These boots are smart looking as well as functional — which can be hard to find.

There are some laces at the front (could do with being a bit longer) and a side zip — which is how the boot is put on (leave the laces tied all the time). The side zip is hidden behind a velcro bit — easy to miss.

The boots lived up to the description and are fully waterproof — they support the ankles well, too and are great for walking.

Overall, these are great value boots which can be used at work or for outdoor pursuits. We are very impressed with them and think they are great value. 5 out of 5 from us.

This is not something I usually wear but I decided to order it to wear while doing some DIY or other camping/ heavy duty jobs.
I am very amazed of the quality of this boot: It is very high quality, real slip resistant and waterproof and the leather is great.
There is only one issue that is not very serious: The fit of this boot is slightly small. Size 10 that I have ordered fits size 9 or even 8.5 UK but this probably something almost normal due to the fact that putting your leg inside a quality leather boot with loads of shoe laces is not easy so ordering slightly bigger size is recommended from my experiences with this boot.

These are excellent boots.
Strong and sturdy on the outside, comfortable on the inside.
The side zip is what makes this product.
You can lace them tightly, all the way up to the top for great support, and still unzip and remove them in 2 seconds. Great idea.

These are great looking boots and once worn a few times begin to get very comfy to wear. I ordered a size 8 for myself and I found they did fit well but felt a little on the narrow side. If I had ordered a pair for my husband he would have found them a little too restrictive on the width and he doesn’t have wide feet.
The boots are very well made, they have a brilliant non-slip sole. The built-in toe reinforcing is not noticeable while wearing the boots. The laces are a good length and so can be tied up and enough room to double knot. The boots come to midway up the calf and this provides excellent support around the ankles.
I was surprised when I first put the boots on as the toe area has a fleecy feeling lining. These are just very comfy boots and they are also a good weight. They are going to be perfect for me out in the garden in the winter and also for walking with.
Another surprise was the hidden zip at the side of the boots, this is concealed with a velcro flap that will also help keep the water out if splashing through puddles.
A very good boot and I think they are an excellent price and I would happily recommend them.

Very good boots that are ideal for everyday use. Strong, thick material protects the wearers feet, and they have a good grip on the sole too. Easy to put on and off thanks to the handy zip down the side. They are comfortable to walk in and don’t chafe the leg as some hi-top boots can. Would recommend these.
I usually wear, depending on the brand, size 8 or 9. The boot size 9 fits quite well, tight enough to protect the foot but not uncomfortable.
The boots are fairly comfortable and I had no problem using them for about 3 or 4 hours.
I think the best feature is the side zip, it makes so much easier to fit them.
The leather is easy to keep clean while the textile part is a bit more challenging but not impossible.
Love the design and it’s almost like fashionable military or biker boots and not like work boots! Very well made with upper smooth leather. Has a zipper and Velcro on a side . The cap toe is very protective with their regulations . Black hammer is best in work wear! Highly recommended!
I have to admit, when I first stepped into these safety boots I felt like I’d walked into the role of Frankenstein’s monster. It feels like there’s a whole lot of boot on your feet and indeed there is. It’s there to protect you and does it well. However, that feeling soon passes and, like any other pair, these boots just become part of your feet.
I actually found them quite comfortable from the offset and so far, so good. Being retired I’ll mostly be using mine for walking/hiking as I like to get in around 5 miles a day and these boots seem to lend quite a lot of support around the ankles and lower calf muscles. This is quite important for old bones.
Being a composite toe cap there’s not the same feeling I used to have donning my steel toe capped working boots before I retired. You’ll still be afforded the same protection only these are more pleasant to wear.
The strong side zip and Velcro closure ensures a good weatherproof seal and if like me, you like to tuck your trousers in to the boot, then you only need tighten the lacing at the front of the boot just enough for a comfortable fit once you are zipped up. These have a good thick sole with plenty of grip and are great over rougher terrain where, with some other footwear, you can feel every little stone on the soles of your feet. Not so with these.
In summary — You’re getting quite a lot of boot for your money here, especially regarding the safety and protection of your feet, shin bones and Achilles tendon. A good thick anti-slip robust sole with a 6 month warranty and smooth leather uppers and of course your toes will have exactly the same 200 joule protection afforded by steel toe caps but without that steel rigidity. These are a cracking all-round pair of boots.
I was going to say these are a pair of all singing, all dancing safety boots, but refrained from doing so when I realised the only dancing you would be likely to be doing with these boots would be “The Monster Mash”.
I would definitely recommend these boots.
I have owned a few pair of army boots and safety boots in the past, these boots are decent but not the best I have tried.
The pros:
– Excellent quality both sole and the top, ankle protection and support are also where they should be
– Very comfortable to wear. Nothing scratching my feet straight out of the box
– Non-slip sole and steel toe cap
The cons:
– The shoe laces included just not long enough no matter how tight I pull them
– The top three ‘eyes’ for the show laces are not of the hook type but they are hoops that you will need to thread the shoe lace through. All the other tall boots I owned have the top three ‘eyes’ in hooks for easy tying.
– No spare shoe laces
These are not bad quality boots at a very fair price, but they are not five stars for me.
I`m very pleased with these; they are very comfortable to wear and give good support to the ankles; although they are laced at the front, they have a zip at the side which makes them easier to put on and the zip has a Velcro covering.
They are very rugged military-styled boots; the uppers are constructed out of leather and tough fabric with a good, thick sole with a heavy tread. The composite toe-caps are not noticeable when one wears them, with no rubbing or discomfort.
The sizing (I ordered 8s) was a perfect fit for me.
A really good pair of boots for outdoor activities or work-wear; they seem excellent quality to me.
The fit of these Black Hammer boots was a little on the small size. I am usually one size when it comes to smart shoes for going out, but then I require one or even two sizes larger for trainers. I got one size up from my smart shoe size for these boots and they only just fit – one of the boots pinches my toes just a tiny bit on my larger foot. If I had got two sizes up, then I reckon I might have needed a thin insole inside the shoe on my smaller foot, but it would have been a better fit on my larger foot.
Given that these are protective work boots, they are surprisingly comfortable inside, cradling my feet with no pinching around the ankles.
The soles are good and thick, so should last a good amount of time before wearing out.
My only slight disappointment is that the fit around the ankle is not wide enough for me to tuck my jeans in fully.
Overall though, these are sturdy work boots that seem like they are incredibly touch – they should be very hard-wearing.
The foot section is thick but flexible leather with a synthetic bumper and sole. It wasn’t clear from the data sheet in the box whether the sole has mid-sole penetration protection; if it has it would be Kevlar as it’s too flexible for a steel shank. An anti-static, anti-slip sole looks as though it might not clog too much in soil, but clay is a challenge for most treads. The upper is textile – again it wasn’t clear if this is Kevlar — with a side zip and cover held with a Velcro type closure. Fit adjustment is by laces. Toe protection is by 200 Joule composite toe caps, the same rating as my steel toe cap work boots. Apparently these are a medium width fitting but my size 9.5, wide feet didn’t feel constricted in size 10 boots. If I wore thick winter socks rather than light or three season Bridgedale socks, they could be tight. High sided boots provide a bit more protection when using a strimmer and, in bad seasons for ticks such as this year, work trousers can be tucked into the uppers.
These boots seem to be well made and should provide good foot and lower shin protection when I’m clearing scrub during the winter. I use a heavy-duty Stihl professional hedge cutter and pole cutter, also a hand saw and bill hook when I’m working as a volunteer in a nature reserve. We must provide our own PPE so these boots will replace my old building site boots. The Black Hammer web site states that the textile is breathable so I’ll welcome that during the warmer days. I was a bit confused by the instruction sheet that was in the box as none of the boots and shoes referred to were S2 which is the protection rating for these boots.
Update 10 September 2020
The boots are breaking in nicely and more comfortable than my old work boots. They are great footwear whilst cutting brambles and snowberry and, have now permanently replaced my other work boots. It remains to be seen how well the side zips last.
I’m a size 10.5 but these are size 10’s and they fit perfectly. They have a leather upper and a non slip, anti-static sole with extremely good grip. They are very comfortable for boots, considering they have a composite toe cap, I didn’t notice it was there and my toes didn’t rub on this upper section!
They are lace ups but have a zip on the side which is covered with a velcro fastening to stop water entering the boots. The whole upper boot is waterproof which makes it perfect for my paintball past time. The stitching on these boots is top quality throughout. I’ve got no complaints with these boots they’re spot on.
