Good purchase, works really well. Just noisier than I would have liked or expected.

I recently purchased the Black+Decker dehumidifier and I am extremely satisfied with its performance. It effectively removes moisture from the air and has made a noticeable difference in the comfort of my bedroom. The compact design allows for easy placement in any room. The noise level is minimal, making it perfect for use during the night.

impressed by how much water it collects

I have this unit on all the time, using the humidity control. Normally set to either 60% or 65%
With this setting, It does not come on that often now. with other measures in the home also to keep humidity under control.
My main issue with this model is the water bucket. It is fiddly to remove when full. I guess a trade off for the shape and size? but I have seen others that have better collection methods.

The gadget works, i just wish the writing on the top for the mode labels wasn’t light grey on slightly-lighter grey. It can be hard to see what mode it’s in.

Had it running all night in the bedroom and emptied out 2 litres of water but it was a little noisy. Clothes drying modes is also amazing.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersNeat and tidy looking, easy to work and empty, has different settings depending how damp it is, has a night mode to dim the lights although it’s a fairly loud hum and drives me and the kids insane (husband could sleep through a train crashing into the side of the house!) so we do end up turning it off overnight. But it’s kept the windows free of water ever since. Love it.

Easy to pick up and move around. It is noisy, constant fan noise. Does work but not very efficiently. Don’t know why it has got such a big tank as it would have to be on for months to fill it. Would not buy again.

We bought this to help our clothes dry in the conservatory. Works well! We’ve bought a few others at this price point and felt this one performs the best out of all of them. It also just looks ‘nicer’ and higher quality.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’ve had this now for a couple of months and it does a brilliant job. I had to empty it twice a day when I first got it, but now I just empty it once a day. We had damp in our kitchen due to a leak in the roof. This helped quite a bit and it hardly uses a lot of electricity. It costs me a few pence an hour so this is well worth the money.
It’s also quiet with just a soft humm from the motor.

Firstly, the item looks smart and modern. With it’s caster wheels it’s easy to move around. Instructions are clear if printed very small. Mainly it does what it is supposed to do…absorbs moisture. When we first used it we had 89% humidity! After less than a week it is down to late 60 s when turned on. It does help to dry the laundry too. Don’t know the running costs, but we use it for approximately 3 – 4 hours each day. Windows appear to have less condensation and the bungalow feels warmer and less damp. So far so good.

Does exactly what it’s supposed to and is pretty compact. You can set target humidities and even has a clothes drying function (which I’ve not tried yet). We’ve had a few issues of waking up to windows dripping with water, especially when cooking a Sunday lunch while it’s cold outside. This has totally sorted the problem.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersSo impressed with this! We live in a 70’s built semi and get a lot of condensation, plus dry clothes inside over Winter, so get issues with mould on walls when it’s cold/damp. When we turned this unit on, our humidity level was 89%! Within a few days of using it (24 hours for a day or so, then 8-12 hours since) we have a consistent humidity level throughout the house of 55%! It’s quite loud but we just run it in the day, or downstairs at night. We’ve removed close to 40 litres of water from our house so far! When we have washing out, we put it right next to the unit and it seems to dry in half the usual time. A great buy at a reasonable cost!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersEasy to use. Shows temperature and humidity levels on display. Very useful if drying washing indoors as it helps to keep moisture levels down. Only downside is that it is quite noisy. Good for the price and a trusted brand.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersWe live in an old house with dampness issues, especially in our main bedroom due to old sash windows.

We bought this to help make living there more comfortable. It is noisier than our old ‘passive’ dehumidifier, which was nothing more than a PC fan and a heatsink in a plastic case; this is an ‘active’ dehumidifier with a refrigeration unit inside.

The difference is like night and day. The amount of water this extracts from the air is fantastic. It lowered the humidity from 86% in our bedroom to just 64% in just over an hour, removing about one litre of water from the air.

I used it yesterday to dry clothing, two clothes airers fully loaded at the top of our stairs, with a separate fan to move the clothes around; it took about 6 hours of operation during the day and left off overnight, and the clothes came off the airers dry enough to finish off in the airing cupboard this morning.

    Love it.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersWith the current energy crisis hitting hard it has been challenging to manage the washing for our very active family which includes 4 school children and a dog.

Our vented tumble dryer was in use for 3 loads a day (minimum) and based on the current price of electric we estimate would cost a whopping 1,500 per year to run! During the summer months the washing line had bagged us the savings, but the concern was that we would have to resort to the tumble dryer in the winter or use radiators which in tun would create excess moisture in the house and also impair the central heating system. After investigating alternatives, we thought we would give a dehumidifier a try and created a “drying room” in airing cupboard.

The 12 litre Black & Decker works wonderfully well and is drying everything we throw at it while adding some warmth to the house and keeping the condensation at bay. Clothes feel nicer, show less wear and retain more of the smell of the washing products that ever before.

I estimate that it will cost a maximum of 34 p/m to use which is much more palatable than the 125 p/m for the tumble dryer.

If you share our problem, then this could be a solution for you.

Already Saving our busy household many £ while creating a nicer environment.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersSince the weather has turned cooler, we have been waking up to horrendous condensation on our bedroom windows. They are old windows without vents, we have the windows locked on ventilate but at night we have to close them as it gets so cold. I bought this dehumidifier on Wednesday and when I turned it on it it said the humididity in our home was 85%! I’ve had it set on the high fan setting with a target humidity of 50%. The lowest I’ve seen it manage to get to was about 65% which is great. It managed that in about 24 hours. This morning (day 2) the tank was completely full of water! I’ve just emptied it and put it back in and the humidity is now at 75%.
I was dubious about spending this amount of money but when I saw white mold on the back of our headboard I knew I needed to do something. We set this dehumidifier up on Wednesday night, Wednesday morning the windows looked like the photo I’ve shared ( completely covered in condensation), then Thursday and Friday morning the windows were bone dry. I can’t believe how well it’s worked. It’s absolutely fantastic. Highly recommend.

I wish I had bought this soone

Just does exactly what it says it will. Pretty quiet, very powerful and not as much of an eyesore as some others with similar capacity.
The thing about this one that’s better than the others is the fact that you can leave it on all night and because it’s got a big tank, it’ll still be happily working away when you awake to your condensation-free home.

Drying plaster upstairs and downstairs hall, home has poor ventilation so could not allow the wet air to cause damage to other rooms etc. always a bit of a risk with dehumidifier and drying plaster walls but this did amazingly and no cracks from walls. We will continue to use this in rooms with damp issues. I guess it’s a midrange power unit , good thing too otherwise we might have some cracked walls! Overall, very happy

We are using the unit mainly in a small bedroom with doors and windows closed for drying clothes. We have been using the dehumidifier for around 3 months now and are very pleased with the results. Energy wise much cheaper than using s tumble dryer with the added benefit of not risking clothes Shrinkage.

We had a water leak from the bathroom into the dining room below and needed to dehumidify quickly. Weather has been warm so humidity levels were almost at 80% in this room, these units were extracting 6 litres of water each per day effectively and humidity has now reduced to below 50% they have been very effective and my walls, ceilings and floor have dried out nicely ready for renovation work to commence.

Also double up as air cleaner, feels a bit like aircon and has a clothes drier mode for the winter.

Low energy use according to my smart meter too which is a bonus!

I’ve removed litres and litres of water from my moderately sized room. No more mould or smell. It’s extremely satisfying to see it collect all the water! Display is extremely useful too to monitor the humidity. Only complaint is that it’s a bit loud but I’ve learned to live with it.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersUsing for the last 3 months. This review is for 12L.
I had my doubts after seeing some of the reviews but the deal was too good to pass. Also most negative reviews were for smaller variant. So bought it anyways and am happy i made the right decision.

    Pros:
Not very loud at slow fan speed.
    Easy to setup.
Does the job well even at low temperatures of 15C.
It’s running 24/7 and hasnt increased my bill much, i think its increased by around 7 to 8 pounds may be less. I keep the humidity settings at 55.
Really worth it if you dry clothes indoor or do a lot of my cooking.

    Cons:
Difficult to remove the water reservoir sometimes.
No child safety buttons; so my kid used to keep messing up the settings but thankfully now he has got bored from it.

    Conclusion: definitely worth the money!

Im not sure why the are bad reviews for the 2l model. I haven’t had a problem. It has reduced humidity drastically to in-between 46 and 52 from 65-78% ( and that was with an extractor attached). So this dehumidifier works better than that. But then again I’m using this in a grow tent, so it’s a smaller space than a room. So im happy with it. Only negative is it isn’t quiet but it isn’t loud. Its as loud as a fan i guess. Just to note, I had to give it more than 24 hours of use for it to reduce the humidity.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI ordered the smaller 900ml dehumidifyer. I have room approx 5m x 5m so was slightly worried it wouldn’t be a big enough model. But after a week of use it’s done a great job! I use it in my bedroom, it’s on 24/7 and after a week it extracted around half a tank of water. In the morning, on occasion there is still some condensation on the windows but not as much as before. Myself and my partner feel alot better in the mornings now and have has less sniffles and coughs since using it. The unit can be quite heavy once full, as I leave it on the floor in the corner of the room it can be quite tricky to pick up, would be great if there was a little handle or indent in the top/ side to help pick it up. Takes two hands to pick it up. It’s fairly quiet, although just took me a couple of nights to get used to the noise, now I don’t hear it. Overall, perfect for a small room and a great price for a decent brand.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersThere are several reviews here for different models which makes this hard to understand what it is you are buying into given the 2ltr version has some terrible reviews. I had some doubts this would be as good but I took a chance and prayed Amazon’s Customer service would not fail me if it turned out to be crap. I’ve been using a DEM10 for probably going on 8 years now but the current house we are in may be a bit much for this unit alone so opted for this model, obviously an entire house is far to much for a single 20l unit but it helps reduce the humidity if placed in specific areas. We now have one unit upstairs, one downstairs. This 20L model has proven to be amazing, the 6l bucket takes about a day to fill up, the machine is about a noisy as the DEM10 I’m using and extracts double of what the DEM10 can, this is probably helped by the fans just being 100% more powerful moving more air and this was on low setting, although high does not feel much higher, maybe a 20% boost. 2 days on and the house has been a solid 50-56% humidity for the last few days and we usually been resting at 65-75% with just the DEM10 alone.

Impressive water extraction from the air from a relatively compact machine that packs in a lot of features considering the size.

Capacity for 12 litres of water, 2m plug to keep it powered on with an array of settings to tweak humidity ratio and keep your room damp free. This unit is ideal for smaller spaces and any areas prone to damp like utility areas, bathrooms or the kitchen. It is quiet running, not easily disturbing even left on overnight.

  42. Anonymous says:

This is a very small and compact unit which has enough power to use in an average sized house, will pull up to 12 Ltrs a day, digital display and easy to use settings. Very easy to empty or or you can have it on direct to drain and never have to worry about it being full.
Not to sure the clothes drying option is any use as it did not dry mine but maybe you have to hang above for better results which then limits the amount you could dry.
    Overall it is very good.

This dehumidifier is the perfect size for my kitchen. It fits neatly under my counter top and takes up roughly the same space as a large kitchen bin.
