This is a great piece of equipment without being too expensive. I wanted a simple basic jigsaw for general cutting therefore I did not require a guide fence guide or speed control. This one did the job for me.

it does the jobs in the house and in the garden very well. Makes light work of certain jobs.
    Easy to use
    Easy to change the blades
    Handy storage case.

Excelllent bit of kit. Bought to sort out a decking frame and decking boards. Completed the job in double quick time with the aid of this power tool. Only criticism is that it comes with one blade for cutting wood – investing in more blades is sensible if you have a large project to complete!

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThe Bosch PST 700 E arrived on time despite Amazon suggesting it might not. It comes in a handy green box that should protect the tool over time.

In the box you get the jigsaw itself, plus one blade (fast cut for wood) and a user manual. There’s space in the box for more blades that you have to purchase separately.

The tool fits both T shank and universal fitment blades, according to the manual, but of course if you buy Bosch or “Bosch compatible” then you should be okay.

Fitting the blade in is simple, although I found it slightly odd that in lifting the red movable mechanism, with the blade in place it didn’t return all the way down. I tried it with a few different blades that I had and the same thing, but in use it holds it fine and no blade has ever fallen out.

A word of caution before making your first cut: make sure the foot plate is centered and tight. Mine wasn’t and that would have resulted in a non-straight cut if you follow the marker arrow and don’t look at the blade that follows it.

I personally chose a corded jigsaw over a cordless one, because I considered that it won’t be in regular use and having a battery out of use for any extended periods of time is not good for its longevity. So, a cord was a requirement of mine. I think Bosch have been a bit stingy though and could have provided a longer power cable as this would avoid the need for extension cables in many scenarios.

The tool itself is simple to operate with the trigger being pressure sensitive so you don’t have to use it at maximum speed all the time. There’s a lock that holds it at maximum speed though, but not at slower speeds. The only other feature is the air blower, which I personally find useful. There is a vacuum attachment on the back of the tool, but despite owning a standard ‘outdoor builder’ type Nilfisk vacuum cleaner, it does not fit and so has so far proven useless to me.

I’ve not tried the footplate angle cutting yet, but have no reason to believe it won’t work. I would say that it would be better if it had two screws holding it in, rather than the single screw. Notches and indents aim to make sure the foot plate is aligned though, but as mentioned, out the box mine wasn’t.

All in all, for my light use so far, it’s a nice lightweight tool that’s easy to use. I like that it isn’t complicated and isn’t covered in buttons or settings or adjustable pendulum action, unlike other brands that — I think — overcomplicate matters. That said, is it worth twice the price of a generic branded jigsaw? Probably not, but I’d like to think that being a Bosch tool its quality and therefore longevity is superior.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought this jigsaw to replace a trusty Black & Decker unit I’d had for more than 25yrs. It’s a heavy duty unit perfect for any DIY enthusiast (and perhaps for professional users too). My work tends to be fairly straightforward so I can’t comment on the saw’s versatility. Liked the storage case. Downsides? Well, I struggle to replace the blades from time to time but I’d have the same problem with any make or model of jigsaw no doubt.

I bought this as i have a very heavy wardrobe that i need to get rid of. It did the job perfectly cutting it up in to easy to lift pieces, granted what I am using it for is not exactly heavy work but I cant fault it, especially for the price, the variable speed gives you total control, i would certainly recommend it.

This item sits on my shelf and when needed is ready for action in seconds. Corded devices take a little longer, especially if needed to be used away from a power socket.

Accuracy is great and very easy to use.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI have a number of Bosch tools and household appliances and in general find their design and quality very good. This unit is in many respects very good but let down by poor design. The so called “CutControl” feature comprises a plastic clip on unit that is of poor design and becomes easily detached from the saw. Basically it’s crap. I have modified the base so that I don’t need this feature in order to accurately follow a pencil line. Bosch could have done this and dispensed with this useless bit of plastic! Other features are up to standard and very good hence four stars.

I asked for a jigsaw for Christmas. I was after a 1000 piece one that I could do over the winter months. They got me this instead……
It is a good piece of kit and will do most jobs. As always decent quality blades for the right materials are the key. Remember no matter the quality of the machine, it is the blade that does the actual cutting.
Prices always fluctuate on Amazon, especially for Bosch kit. Add it to your wishlist or basket and wait for a deal / price that is acceptable to you.

    What a great tool!
Had to buy another saw to replace one which self-destructed after many years but I’m so glad to get my hands on this; light and with vibration control it cuts a straight line with accuracy every time. Usual advice stands about only using quality blades, cheapies just bend and wobble, and great to have its own plastic case to safely hold the saw and a pack of blades all in one place.
Now have almost a full set of Bosch tools, would not buy another brand, VERY happy with this

I found this jig saw to be very easy to use and very comfortable in the hand. Cutting straight depends on how steady your hand is but I used this to cut 22mm decking planks to good effect and was happy with the outcome. It cuts with no effort at all compared to my old saw and it just seemed to glide through the wood. I can fully recommend this saw.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersFor the occasional job this is the perfect jigsaw. If you are going to use it on a very regular basis you might want to consider a slightly more expensive model. I tried my neighbours one at some point and it was overall a better tool, but for the price of this, it still works fine after three years and is not bad at all

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI am using this Jigsaw quite a lot now, that I am reconstructing an outdoor wooden deck, and despite it being of the green series and not the blue (almost all my other tools are blue), it cuts well. I did not try cutting extra hard materials, such as metals or stone with it, but for woodworking – it is more than enough.

Golden Review Award: 27 From Our UsersThis is a great little jigsaw.
You need to buy some different blades to really see what it can do, but you won’t be disappointed.
I cut the sink opening in my new kitchen worktop with it and it was pretty accurate. Jigsaw blades are always a bit wobbly, but this one was pretty steady.
I have also used it to cut the new laminate (vinyl) floor tiles and all the fiddly bits around the pipes and cupboard base units.
It seems quite happy to have a go at anything – as long as you have the right blade in it.
Changing blades is easy – just push and click.
You change the speed by pressing the trigger. The more you press the faster it goes. Simple – and it means you can control the speed as you go along, rather than setting the speed on a dial then having to stop to adjust it.

Best decision I’ve made all year.
    It’s comfortable.
    It’s powerful.
    It’s versatile…
Watching videos on YouTube for it and am amazed.
Can cut directly into the middle of wood, creating a clean hole from the middle, without need to pre-drill a hole. Stunning.
The rotary action on the blade is amazing for fast cuts.
The blower is great for dispersing dust as you cut, or turn off if you have a hoover attached.
The control action is fantastic, full analogue control of the speed of the motor.

    Genuinely love it.
Best purchase I’ve made for a while

Nice powerful bit of kit, used it to cut the hole in for a kitchen sink in a normal 2 inch work surface and it did it no problem at all. Was putting the saw away after finishing and spotted it was on minimum power. If it can do that on minimum can’t wait to see what full power is like 🙂

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBought this jigsaw for a one off DIY project where i was going to cut ~30 laminate floorboards. This jigsaw arrived in a typical Bosch green carrying case which was a nice thought. There’s one free jigsaw blade but I’d recommend getting some other Bosch blade for your specific purpose.
The jigsaw feels solid and every cut feels controlled, the blade change mechanism felt a little bit flimsy at first, but I grew to trust it as it never slipped or gave way to all my jig sawing.
If there’s one thing I could complaint it’d be the hoover attachment doesn’t seem to allow all dust to be sucked up. I was using a Henry so it wasn’t particularly underpowered, but plenty of dust still managed to get around. Definitely not a deal breaker but I thought that could be slightly better!

  50. The Huffington Post News Editors says:

Like all Bosch products, this is brilliant! Low vibration while using which helps, also has a blow feature so it blows the dust from the front. The only change I would do is put a laser guide on the front. Also the blade got stuck and I had to use a little pressure using pliers to set it loose.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIt works with the Bosch batteries I have for my drill, impact driver and so on. It cuts well, the blades are easy to fit (and easy to come by as they take many other brands of blades). It tracks accurately when using a fence, or freehand. The light is a nice touch. I would have like to see a battery power level like my drill has.

Golden Review Award: 55 From Our UsersSuper machine. I’m an older lady and love that this is both powerful and yet light enough for me to safely handle without getting overly tired.
Speed increases or decreases with a finger trigger, kind of like a petrol chainsaw. So the speed is easy to control.

The instructions aren’t great – I had to post a question online to understand how to change the blade. But it was quickly answered.

I also love the Bosch cases. They last for years and make storage and transport simple and safe.

Another excellent Bosch product, and really affordable.

Golden Review Award: 64 From Our UsersI have been using Bosch power tools for seventeen years and you cannot go wrong with them. This is a fantastic little jigsaw but do not let that put you off or think that it is in any way underpowered. This is a powerful little bit of kit and does exactly what it says it will. It’s not noisy at all and is very easy to handle, comes in its own case which is a real perk for storage.

Be careful to read the description in terms of how much it is able to cut however. You are limited on the thickness of what materials it can get through. In my experience for general DIY around the house this is all that you will need.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI love it! The old jig saw I had for 10+ years got to the end of it’s life, and this was an excellent replacement. I took it apart as soon as I got it to check out the quality of the parts inside and see if there were any factory flaws to remove them before usage. There were no flaws, all parts are well greased up and I didn’t find any critical weaknesses in the casing that that would require additional strengthening. This is really worth the money.

The dust cover is missing. I’m very surprised this happened as i know Bosch never makes mistakes like this and I have many Bosch products and also the box had an original Bosch seal on it which was intact. Surely this is nothing but a minor mistake which it’ll be sorted.

I started to use it with caution that it may not be so strong as to cut hard thick wood but I was amazed. It cuts like butter and stable in my hand with very little vibrations and the front air blower keeps my line of site clear and focused on the cutting bit.

The only drawback is that I can not find the dust adapter to connect to my dust collection system therefore I’ve to make my own and hence the 4 stars.

Only negative for (but not worth a star down) is that the lead could be a bit longer.

Really decent little saw for the money. I like the pointer on the front plate – a simple detail, but great for guiding the saw along. Light and responsive. Get some decent blades and it does a good job. No rake, but that’s not a big deal.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGreat piece of machinery which far exceeds the quality of the high street DIY branded rubbish it replaced. Great price too from Amazon, 10 cheaper than afore said high street DIY store. Blades are easily changed thanks to the SDS system which saves loosening and tightening fiddly screws. The blade fits snugly against the “saddle” which prevents wobble. I wish I’d have used this jigsaw when I cut the hole for the cat flap in our uPCV door and not the one it replaced…..!

my other Bosch jig saw you had to use a long thin screwdriver to put down the handle and turn the screw many turns to release the blade, then you had to turn the blade through 90 degrees to get it out which was rather difficult if the blade had broken off flush which is where they usually did. This new one with the quick release (although not used yet) is so easy to blade change (seconds) and a bonus is it will take any type of blade

Easiest one yet. If your not a beginner you wont find this one challenging being just a ‘2 piece’. Although what does hold you back is having to supply the second piece.
If you are somewhat of a jigsaw expert and have already ordered all is not lost, make sure it is plugged in and turned on for a huge challenge and when finished i have to admit it is as pretty as my ‘1000 piece constable ‘the haywain”.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersThis is the second one of these that I own and they are very good. Only 4 stars because I think it’s pathetic that the plastic splinter reduction attachment is not included as standard. (They used to be, as did the parallel guide and a general purpose saw blade) The splinter guard can only cost pence but now I’ll have to waste time and energy sourcing one. As a Bosch devotee very disappointed.

Golden Review Award: 65 From Our UsersGreat quality machin. Very tightly made, no cheapness to it. I have it in everyday use and I would class this as professional quality. It cuts bang on and dead straight. There’s no play in the blade like other jigsaws I’ve owned and there is plenty of power. One thing I would recommend though is for people to buy proper blades. I have cheap blades I picked up somewhere and tried a new one rather than open the new Bosch ones. They were slow and starting to burn the timber as they cut. I switched to one of the blades I bought along with the jigsaw as an add on and I was cutting 3/4 inch ply like butter.

I was fed up wth cheap jigsaws that just don’t cut it, so decided to spend a bit more and this one is just great. The first job I did was to cut through a length of worktop with a reinforcing strip underneath the total thickness was almost the depth of the blade, and I expected it to be a struggle. It was so easy it took all the fun out of it. Also putting the blades in is easy, and they dont work loose. Getting a good straight cut is easier than the cheap ones I’m used to. I would recommend this, and consider it good value. The sturdy case is a nice bonus too.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBought this specifically for the purpose of cutting a worktop to size and making a sink cut-out in it for use in the utility room at home. Even for one job it would work out cheaper that getting someone in to do it. Did the job just fine but the instructions could have been clearer, and there are pictures of various not-included accessories shown in the instructions too, which was a bit confusing (there’s no “what’s in the box” type document). One general purpose blade is supplied with the jigsaw.

Golden Review Award: 19 From Our UsersI have an old black and decker jigsaw. I wanted to upgrade and was reading reviews of this. It was a good price, so ordered one. Quick delivery and I needed to cut out a heart shape from a piece of pine. The pine was 19mm thick and the saw did a lovely job. It was smooth and using it showed me just how much vibration the old one had. The blower works great leaving a nice clear path to follow. The quick blade change works great. I had no problems fitting and removing blade. The variable speed is on the trigger which gives nice control. Also on the side you can change the angle of the blade and on the forward setting the blade cuts the quickest, although you will get more tear out. You can angle the base as normal for angled cuts. As others have said it would be nice for a light but in saying that its not big deal. Great saw I have lots of bosch power tools and with that comes quality…

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI love this! My son loves this! It does what it is supposed to do and does it excellently. It only comes with one blade! COME ON BOSCH! Don’t be stingy! If you want to keep your customers happy, in this ‘less is more culture’ then, think! We have spent MORE and we DON’T want LESS! No matter how d*** fashionable it is to say so!!! Manufacturers and corporations and their blasted greed!
However, I digress…………………………sorry…………………………… This is a good, sturdy machine, with a guide to help. Comes in good sturdy case. If you need a jigsaw, I’d definitely give this little baby a go.

Finally got round to replacing my old B&D jigsaw, and now wish I have done so much earlier.

The cable is a sensible length. Very little vibration when cutting, thus making it a lot easier to use. Plus it is nice to have a box to keep the jigsaw in good condition.

I now have several Bosch electric tools (from DIY models to semi-professional models) and am pleased with all of them. So this item is also well recommended.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersFantastic bit of kit, really responsive variable speed, bought this as I was putting in an Oak staircase and Oak is a really solid wood to cut (hence the Mary Rose still with us) but this saw made it light work, also has an excellent guide that allows you to follow the straight line marks on the wood, really put this through its paces over the last couple of weeks and it has come up trumps

Golden Review Award: 23 From Our UsersI bought this after my old Bosch gave up the ghost, with the footplate screw having been damaged so that the jig would not sit straight on the wood. I like Bosch and this one seemed the best option for the price i was willing to pay. I’m glad i bought this as it is a brilliant saw for those budding DIYer and also for the tradesman when it comes to cutting wood, plastics, laminates and more, depending on the blades of course.
The quick blade change is so easy to get the hang of, just remember to unplug the saw before you do it as your hands are on the blade when you slot it into the housing by lifting the red notch at the front.
It has the power to slice through wood and other material. I mainly use wood in my work and this has no trouble slicing through what ever I put in front of it. the footplate is strong, with the easy option of tilting from left to right.
The handle has a rubber coating over it which makes gripping it a pleasure with no real hassles with vibrations and the like.
The extraction hose fitting is right at the rear which makes it easier to use with the vacuum cleaner hosing not getting in the way of the cutting, which clears the saw dust from the work area.
It has the usual trigger at the front underside of the handle with the ‘lock on’ button just above the trigger. This makes it easy to lock the blade running with just your thumb.
So, if you want a simple to use and powerful jigsaw this is the one for you.

Bosch are highly considered in the building trade and this is a Great power tool. Relatively easy to use [given I’d never used one before]. I bought it to cut a cat flap but then discovered the door was plated with aluminium both sides! Gave up on that idea but I needed to cut some uPVC for window sills. Did the job perfectly. Next job: a wooden unit for the built-in balcony. I know it will be dead easy using this great piece of kit.

Comes complete with a tough box and a single blade. Would recommend you buy a box of assorted blades as you buy this.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersI was torn between going to the cheaper cabled jigsaw of this, and after much deliberation, I choose the cordless. I already have batteries and chargers for other Bosh 18 v LiIon tools which helped sway the decision, and coupled with an experience at a DIY shop (they wouldn’t cut the wood with their industrial machine with dust extraction – apparently its dangerous to their health because it was treated wood, but its ok for me to cut it in the car park without extraction!).

Pros – Lightweight, Powerful, Uses 18v LiIon battery, SDS for quick blade change, Light, can cut a decent length on a single charge (I measured and made approx 25 metres of cuts before needing to recharge)

Cons – doesn’t come with a plastic carry case (which is included if you buy the setup with the charger and battery)

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our Usersi once owned a cheapo jigsaw from woolworths for 10 i think it was, maybe 5 (this was when it was closing down). it was terrible, but it didn’t put me off buying this as a replacement. it is night & day the difference. this is powerful and cutting straight lines are a doddle. i’ve had this quite a while now and everytime it does the job, whether it’s cutting wood, sheet metal or acrylic. it is sturdy and well built. it doesn’t vibrate like mad. it only comes with 1 blade but additional once are not expensive.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersA very nice powerful jigsaw. Does a great job and the cuts are very clean. The down side is that the blade changing part (red plastic at the front) jammed after I inserted the blade for the first time to run some test cuts. It got jammed really badly and I could not take it out by any means. I thought of returning it but I used that blade to make a hundred more cuts (just for fun). After I was done the blade came out and was no longer jammed. I am keeping this saw for now. I have also bought some oil to lubricate the blade inserting part.

Other thing to keep in mind is that there is no variable speed selection button on this model, meaning if you want to use the locking button on the side of the handle, you have to lock it in full speed position (which is not very versatile). Also there is no orbital swing motion on this model. So this is a very very basic saw in terms of extra features. My home vacuum does not fit the hole on this saw, so I could test the vacuum suction, but from what I can tell, even if you did use a vacuum there will still be saw dust on your floor! Maybe a little less though.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersA good tool with useful attachments to allow one to easily follow a marked line. I bought the tool to help fit a worktop. To do this I wanted to use a special blade which protrudes forward so that one can cut the worktop until it abuts the wall. To do this I had to cut away a small piece of the foot in front of the blade – doesn-t seem to have affected use of the blade or the attachments, but seems an unnecessary design flaw.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWorks well and for the money is good value its not the fastest jig saw but have used it on wood up to 50mm thick and 18mm ply wood (long cuts) and steel 3-4mm thick with no problems just give it time and dont expect it to slice through as if it was butter. The cut is good and clean (suggest practice on a few off cuts first to get the hang of it) dont rush and you will be rewarded with a good cut. its a lot less energy and time consuming than using a handsaw and the cut is clean but concentrate on keeping to the line when cutting and support the work well. It may seem a little underpowered but fast when compared with hand sawing as a diy tool its great value

Amazing product. Cuts through wood cleanly and evenly and has a great battery life. I bought some long blades and cut through 50mm wood posts. Because it uses a battery that is interchangeable with other tools in the range I can take a spare and get through all the work before I need a recharge. The batteries can also be used on drills, sander, lights, hedge trimmers and a strimmer. The batteries charge pretty quickly too. It seems also to me much safer than a trailing flex whilst cutting.

Cordless tools have come a long way. Don’t buy the bare tool (without battery) if you haven’t got the batteries and charger already. It works out cheaper to buy a full tool initially.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI bought this tool for a specific task, trimming the length of an interior door–a difficult piece of wood on which to use a plane! It arrived very quickly as usual with Amazon and was put straight to work. The instructions were clear and everything went together easily. Taking it steadily, I found it cut without difficulty despite the aged hardness of the wood and made a neat job, cutting a quarter of an inch strip off the bottom of the door. I look forward to using it again and am pleased with this addition to my tools.

The saw comes in a neat box that stows everything well. There is only one small blade supplied with the box and it was worth buying the recommended set of additional saw blades if you don’t have them already. Overall, a worthwhile buy.

I am pleased with this product. Easily controllably and the tendency all these jig saws have to wander off the line is controllable with less speed and less forward motion pressure. A great advance on my first B & D jig saw although to have made it even better I would have liked to see the ability to swivel the blade that my last B&D Pro had (and my son borrowed, never to be seen again). It made easy light work of cutting a metal ducting, in spite of the awkward shape and my inability to devise a holding system for the work piece. I can see myself using this tool quite a lot.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersLike many others I’d got the matching drill with two batteries from a certain orange DIY store, so the bare tool made sense to me as it was cheaper than the mains version and you can use a jigsaw for all sorts of things not recommended by the instructions (pruning in the garden, quickly knocking stuff down to size to fit in the boot of the car to take to the skip, home self amputation etc.) It’s fair to say it’s not quite as powerful at the mains version’s I’ve used in the past and I’ve not yet had chance to see how long the battery will last in concerted use but as a reasonably powerful and infinately portable device I think I’ll probably get more use out of it than I would the version with a wire. It feels very well made.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGood grief, I’ve been sawing wood for thirty years and never got around to buying a jigsaw. My wife bought me this Bosch jigsaw for Christmas and it’s now my favourite bit of kit.

All my power tools are Bosch and they have never let me down. This PST 700 model is so easy to use and changing the blades is done at the push of a button. Sawing starts slowly depending on how much you squeeze the trigger and then off you go! Effortless cutting and shaping of wood and thin steel. It’s such a pleasure to use that I’ve started inventing new jobs for it. Woke up this morning to a snowy day (Saturday 19 Jan 2013) and I’m going to make a toboggan. This jigsaw will make very light work of the cutting.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI bought this jigsaw to replace a “cheap and cheerful” one that had seen good service but finally died on me – just when I needed it most! Typical. Ordered this one online and it arrived as promised. On reading the user manual it showed two accessories for fitting to the base plate, but these were not in the carrying case. I emailed Amazon and they sent me a replacement saw so that I could remove the parts that were missing and then return the saw cost-free. When the replacement arrived, it didn’t have the accessories either! So… I contacted Bosch asking them for the missing parts; their reply said that these items are NOT INCLUDED with the saw – the only “accessory” is a saw blade. My reply to then asked why these items are shown in the manual, to which they say (and I quote): “The manual sometimes refers to items with an * against it meaning the items are available as an accessory , sorry if you have had all this hassle.” And guess what – there’s NO * against these accessories. Other than that, the tool is a joy to use!

I bought this as I was preparing to fit laminate flooring to four rooms and wanted a suitable saw for this and other DIY projects. I’m half way through the project and I’m very impressed. The spring-loaded blade-holder is brilliant: laminate is very hard on blades (three to four per room) so changing them quickly and easily is a bonus. The roller-guide to support the blade is another great idea. The plate adjustment for 45 degree angles is easy and precise. The 500 watt motor seems ample for my needs, and the jigsaw is comfortable to hold and use. I also bought a selection box of Bosch blades and several packets of T101BR blades for the laminate. All together, this makes a very handy, versatile tool. I’m very pleased indeed.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersUsed this item to cut laminate floorings, did a good job of them with low vibration. Quite pleased but was not so pleased with the SDS as Bosch says “SDS ensures effortless and safe saw blade changes within seconds”. After a few cuts the saw bit was stuck and difficult to remove from SDS and took minutes instead of seconds, I believe it was because of saw dust from the laminate. Not so effortless after all. I would have preffered manual screw in ones would have saved me some time.

Integrated saw blade storage compartment was handy.

    Overall a good jigsaw.
