What can I say, if you haven’t already got a looper pedal and you’re learning to play the guitar, buy one now. No I mean like immediately, it will be one of the best investments you make for improving your playing and improvising.
With several sets of rotating Red, Red and Green and Green lights. It is important to know what each represents and that when creating a Loop, , they act as a countdown to the start of the repeat point. I’m still learning, but unused to looping as I am, found this unit a breeze to work with.
Love it. Easy to use and a memory bank to SAVE your tracks! Drum machine works great. The BEST practice/learning tool for musician.
Worth the money for someone who like to experiment with sounds and layers. It allows the opportunity to add a lot of depth to a song.
Positives:
– Affordable
– Solid construction
– Perfect to practice scales or solos by using it to record your own chord progressions.
– Portable, comes with a battery so you can use it without a power supply.
Some negatives:
– It will take some getting used to the controls
– Having just one button means you’ll need to tap dance to make it do the things you need.
– It’s a bit annoying you have to buy the power supply seperate.
– Not the best if you want to use it for live performances. You’d probably want something with multiple pedals / buttons.
Easy to use. sounds great. I use it for bass and guitar. And think it would be equally good for vocals too.
It’s excellent for a songwriter. I am writing alone at present and I can work out all guitar parts with ease.
This pedal is brilliant. Make sure you buy the adaptor to go with it – although it runs on a battery, the adaptor is a must. May also need some additional cables to get it working so check your set up! Great little item though. Highly recommend.

This was my first loop pedal that I have ever bought and it was brilliant. Really compact and sturdy piece of kit obviously with two inputs which is really helpful. Doesn’t effect the sound quality noticeably and is really easy to use.
Would recommend to anyone for the price!

Never a loop pedal before, and I have bern missing a trick. This an excellent simple to use pedal. Can’t fault it.

Needs a bit of practice to get it working correctly but then is great for jamming.
This unit was purchased to improve my playing e.g. jamming along with myself. I have found it does this and a lot more, I have downloaded backing tracks which I can use to perfect timing, solos and vocals. I have to convert music files from MP3 to WAV and then download through my PC to Boss unit. This unit in my opinion is well worth the money. It might be a good idea to purchase a mains adaptor which i have just done as you will find it eats up the batteries just because you want to keep playing !
It’s a good product which would have got five stars if it had included a mains adaptor. It eats batteries!! The loop itself works well; instructions were written by someone whose first language was not English, but most things you can figure out.
This is a great piece of kit well made, and provides the basic looping functionality I need as a beginner, the most difficult part is starting & stopping a loop. I believe I’ve almost mastered starting – it’s just stopping I need to refine now. The only other criticism I have is concerning the instructions which come on large sheet of fold-out paper in various languages I think this would be much better as a thin booklet with larger diagrams.

Excellent build quality. One thing to note: There is a deep sleep mode on this device that when activated will make the Loop Station appear to have died. No Power – will not switch on. CHECK THE MANUAL to step through the process of wake up and you will be smiling again!! 🙂 We thought we had lost our recordings, requested a replacement. READ THE MANUAL!!

This pedal is a new area for me but like all Boss pedals its flawless and reasonably cheap
Only a few minor issues, firstly it can be fiddly to use when stopping and deleting the loop (double tap and hold) however I am told this can be sorted using an additional pedal.
Secondly the quality of the loop isn’t the best, a problem I am told is common with most loopers.
Overall I am very happy with my purchase.

Solidly built, as you can expect from the brand and the class of stomp-boxes, electronically functional and reliable, and easy to understand / learn to operate. The slightly more difficult part – smooth on-stage operation and performance -comes with practice and I haven’t had the time for that yet. But in the first minutes of owning the RC-1 I was confidently recording loops and having fun jamming with myself, it’s that simple. In addition to the included printed instructions, there are many online videos that show how to use it and provide great ideas of what can be done.
I am perhaps satisfied because I didn’t expect miracles, already knew exactly the capabilities of this unit, and the experience fully met my expectations. Any disappointed users I have come across simply had unrealistic expectations because they had not made the effort to research the product in advance. Yes, it’s basic and limited – but within its limitations, the possibilities are nonetheless… endless! 🙂
Love this little pedal. Easy enough to use after a bit of practice. I’m still using Boss pedals I bought nearly 30 years ago. Built like tanks and so good.

As a first time Looper this product has been really fun, I do however wish there was an easier way to track timings on this pedal.
This was purchased as a present. The recipient assures me that it’s a sturdy unit and a great asset to his guitar equipment.
Wanted this for the drum samples. Find it easier to play along to. Easy enough get going. Essential for practicing with. Have found myself writing again as I can layer my ideas and save them. Bonus.

I bought this as a little project. Originally I was going to buy a delay pedal with a basic looper function but got drawn in to the idea of having a more complex looper.
The pedal itself is fantastic… I guess. As per any boss pedal the build quality is incredible and the functionality all makes sense. Having 99 preset/recording slots is also great. But unfortunately I only have a Line 6 practice amp these days which has no “effects loop”. Therefore I had to run the pedal in series before the input to the amp, which meant that drums were distorted, as were any presents that I recorded with clean tone, once I set my amp to a distorted channel.
Even then, when I harmonised distorted tones there were some strange tonal interference effects… It just wasn’t pleasant.
But I know from youtube demonstrations that in the effects loop, this pedal would have done everything that I wanted.
With regret I had to return the pedal – and of course Amazon accepted this without query!

Works great as a starter pedal, solid build quality and compact. Limited looping options as expected.
Being stereo is a bonus very good if you use two amps or a stereo set up obviously but equally as useful if you just want to run mono again this is obvious.
The only negative to me is the big switch which is part of the Boss design hence buying the bright onions pedal was a no brainer as you get the normal button type switch which always feels more solid and immediate to me, that’s just me though may be others will prefer the boss switch.
There is the electro harmonix 720 which is approx 118 compared to this at 85, both are stereo and the EH does has a loop selector switch where you can load up 10 samples from a computer for example, and half speed but no use for me as mentioned earlier I needed a simple practice pedal to noodle over, and when live for an acoustic set both of these needs are done with this pedal.
Don’t hesitate just buy it. I have learnt so much since I bought this looper. Everyone needs musical accompaniment whilst practicing, it makes practicing enjoyable, and opens up a whole new world of learning and playing.

Great pedal for use at home. Takes a bit of getting used to put keep practising and you’ll crack it in no time. Sturdy as you’d expect from Boss!

Not over complicated, dead easy to use and play along with.
Build quality:
* Like most Boss products it is built to last, bullet proof.
* The controls are positive to use and laid out logically.
Ease of use:
* Here’s where it gets interesting, for a beginner or someone with little patients I would imagine that it may drive them slightly crazy However I would recommend watching a couple of YouTube vids and you will be flying.
* Keep it simple to start off with a smooth twelve bar blues loop with some percussion, ad a few licks to the mix and you are edging into looping heaven.
* What I really love about this looper is the option to add drums after looping, they automatically match your rhythm, and can also be used with the Tap function and used to develop better timing.
* Overdubbing, deleting and stopping are all controlled by the foot switch so no bending down to clear overdubs.
* Saving to one of the 99 banks is also a great option meaning that you can recall all of your favorited loops to jam along to.
CONS:
* Get a dedicated power supply a descent one the right one for the unit, I own a InnoGear 10 power supply which has a dedicated port suitable for the RC3 however the noise from the peddle through the amp is unworkable. I ended up buying a Boss PSA adapter which cost an extra 20 which solved the noise problem.
* The pre-sets are 90-99 are very cheesy – I have deleted them.
Summary
If you want a tool to help improve timing, record melody ideas, mix up your practice sessions or even gig with (for me that may take lots more practice) BUY THIS WITHOUT DELAY!!!!

Love this pedal, quite confusing at first but totally love it’s simplicity. Very robust too, dropped it a few times and haven’t made a dent. Also it stays powered up when the power supply is disconnected. Perfect for portable live recordings 😀

Great peddle does exactly what it says it should. Easy to use and highly recommended especially for solo guitarists like me who do not have a band but want to jam to their own rythms without going through the hassle of recording something first on a computer and then having to play it back. This is nice and easy through the same amp.
When it comes to choosing your loop pedal, the options are not overwhelming. Still, the BOSS loop station (or any BOSS pedal for that matter) is always a solid choice. The 5 year warranty doesn’t hurt in case something goes wrong with it, but these things break pretty rarely. Also you might already know this buying this pedal, but they are TONS of fun.
I guarantee, if you get one of these, you’ll have a hard time leaving it alone. You can even work it into your live performances.
