Dark souls remastered is about a undead warrior who sets out on a massive journey to either restore the age of fire or become a dark Lord.

    Everywhere is interconnected
And you are not limited by a storyline mostly.
You can decide where to go in whatever order you want but you might not be powerful enough to defeat anything.
Your actions have consequences for example if you stab someone they will either try to kill you or in the case of a certain merchant run out of reach and shout at you and refuse to sell things to you.
Bosses are very hard but fun and tense most of the time.
You also are not limited by your class for example if you choose the warrior class you can work on your intelligence to be able to cast mighty spells like a sorcerer.in my opinion this is a great game

Was will man mehr.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersI live in the United States and has purchased my first copy locally at launch, but has decided to repurchase this masterpiece again. This version is in English so you don’t have to worry if there’s a language barrier. It’s the EXACT same as the North America version, but 2 buttons are swapped. Instead of confirming with the “A” button and cancelling with the “B” button like the North America version, it’s reversed. To be quite honest, I love it because this European button swap with A and B is the exact same as the PlayStation and Xbox versions of the Souls games. Switch games aren’t region locked either. It works on any Switch console from all world regions!

This is the first souls game I played and I had a lot of fun playing. Was upset that I didn’t find it to be as hard as everyone said it was. The only problem I found was the slightly bad control scheme.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersProbably best for first timers - if you've already played, there are better formats to revisit o
This is my first foray into Dark Souls so very much a latecomer. Hot take – it’s a fantastic game! Yes it seems hard to new players. And yes it gets incredibly frustrating at times because it is very unforgiving gameplay. But very rewarding as you progress and learn how to play in a way that works for you (I refuse to say ‘Get good’). Once you have completed it once you’ll likely enjoy replaying and probably wonder what was so difficult initially.

From what I have read, most of the serious bugs and design problems of the original version have been ironed out of this remaster. So great for newbies like me. But nothing new here if you’re a veteran of the original.
    Praise the sun!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersPerfect game series for me.
Graphics of this remastered version looks damn amazing. Since I am working, I get less time to play games. So I needed a switch game that could provide me a good challenge for short period of time (30-45min each day) and the story of which does not get completed in a few days or even couple months. Dark Souls Remastered is perfect for me.

It provides a challenging but fair, punishing but satisfying and at times frustrating gameplay which I absolutely love. Hopefully I can progress bit by bit everyday 😀

I hope the other Dark Souls or Souls borne games get released on Switch this year or early next year.

Great game, brought back memories of playing this when it came out! Graphics are probably on par with PS3 if slightly better. There is an issue with button choice for menus with B being select and A being cancel which is very confusing and hard to get past years of Nintendo muscle memory. Otherwise for those who haven’t played this I would recommend it, especially with the ability to play on the go.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersIt's Dark Souls.
I’ll preface by saying I’m playing this port on a Switch Lite. I’ve owned the PTD edition if the game on PC for years.

The switch joycon controllers arent great for it, the layout can cramp your hands and the analog sticks have trouble being pressed in for lock on without making the camera jolt a bit.

Plus they have the button orientation as the other ports, so B is accept, A is cancel/run. My hands feel awkward at times switching items and camera can feel wonky around walls even with the auto wall recovery off. I don’t know if auto target even works right.

If you were to buy this game, and you own a Switch, play with a pro controller if possible. Despite my criticisms of the controls, I’m sure it’s something I can adjust to, and having portable Dark Souls is just great to me.

It’s Dark Souls and I love it.

The dark souls remaster for switch is an excellent port of dark souls to switch. If you enjoy challenging games then you really should just get it, it is quite simply incredible. After beating dark souls I bought 2&3 on PC and beat them as well. All three of the games are action adventure RPGs, with challenging combat mechanics. If you don’t enjoy challenging games or have no interest in figuring out mechanics then this is not for you.

Portable Dark Souls, you need it in your life!
The best thing to happen to gaming for a long time for me! This is a great port of a great game. It’s probably going to become my favourite game ever – the lore, the combat, the masterful feeling of progression and achievement. Supremely repayable with no loss of enjoyment. And this version on the switch is a treat. Being able to take down bosses on the bus, to read through all the item lore during my lunch break, to achieve something I’d kept failing at for ages – minutes before my Switch battery ran out! I’ve played it more on this format than any other, and if you’re playing offline Dark Souls finally has a pause button by putting the Switch in sleep mode! Yeah there is one slight downside in that the audio can feel a little tinny and compressed at times, but I’ve had no other issues – no framerate drops, no control problems etc. Portable Dark Souls – you need it in your life!

Git gud or git ganked on the go kiddies!
Good port of an older game but the only benefit is portability as there are better versions on PC and consoles.

It runs really well both docked 1080p and undocked 720p at a near solid 30fps even in blight town (this is a big improvement over the original) with very few subtle graphical differences from the original that are unnoticeable unless being compared. The DLC is also included.

The sound for the most part is pretty bad as everything was compressed to fit the cartridge and I don’t see why From software can’t allow us to download a HD audio patch from the eshop for those of us who want it if space was an issue. The sound is more of an issue for docked mode rather than undocked though.

Also the buttons have been swapped (B is select and A is cancel) to fit in line with the standard dark souls format. This isn’t a problem for me personally being a huge souls fan but I can imagine newcomers who are used to the Switch’s button layout may get confused. You can change the buttons for in game moves but not for the menus which is what I’d imagine you’d want to be able to swap the most.

Overall, it’s not a bad port of an amazing game and it’s still an improvement over the original in resolution and performance but the only selling point is if you want portability and don’t mind the sacrifice for it.
Otherwise you’re better off getting the PC or console versions that offer 60fps, higher resolutions and some graphics bumps.

Oh, and the Switch Pro controller is one of the best controllers ever to play Dark Souls with along with the PS4 controller.

    4/5 for this port.
    5/5 for the game.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersDark Souls... but portable
The short answer is that yes it’s the full Dark Souls and yes it works great in portable mode. Like the Skyrim port to Switch it’s not really the ‘remaster’, just a smoother port of the x360/PS3 version including the DLC… which is more than good enough when you’re sat on a train, plane or in a coffee shop battling away. The game itself is incredibly influential and demanding (it feels like hard work plowing through the game world, compared to the nice holiday of Zelda) and just playing it you can see how it’s philosophy has leaked into a lot of modern game designs… in that way you could argue it’s the best game on the Switch (Edge Magazine did recently declare it the greatest of all time) but that does feel like cheating on an old port. To note you need a Nintendo Online Pass for the Online elements to work, it also doesn’t pause… even when you put the Switch into sleep mode, which is the same across all platforms.

An excellent remaster of the original game, don’t believe the negative press. The Switch version is excellent and the graphics hold up, no they’re not as good as the PS4 or Xboxone versions, but still look great on the Switch screen in both docked or handheld modes. The only thing I found a problem is the controls on the switch where the joy-con controller being too cramped for such an intense game though when docked the pro-controller is a joy.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersPortable Souls
Dark Souls is a favourite game for many, and for myself it was a game that got me through a difficult time upon its original release. For that reason alone, I can’t help but love this game, so there is a degree of bias here.

This is the same game you played in 2011, albeit with the later DLC included. It’s a step down from the recent PS4 and XB1 remasters visually, but the Switch’s smaller screens mask this very well indeed. The huge appeal here is the portability. Souls on the train! Souls on the loo! Souls on the couch while someone else watches X Factor…

I initially thought that the Switch might be a bit fiddly for this game but I actually found it a little easier. My first playthrough since 2014 but still managed to finish it in a respectable 20hrs (my first play in 2011 took 65). The framerate remains generally smooth throughout with no areas performing noticeably poorly. Headphones /earphones are recommended, and prepare for a rather basic looking game if you choose to play docked (the PS4 / XB1 HUD options put the docked Switch game to shame here).

In my opinion, the game has aged well. There are a wealth of ways to play the game, online play is improved over the original release, and you’ve got another classic in portable form!

What is there to say? its Dark Souls, its gonna kill you over and over again but in this version you get over 7 fps in blight town! The switch handles the game incredibly well i have had no problems (besides the bed of chaos) and i am very happy with the purchase.

There are two things to be aware of, first the control scheme is the same as as on the Xbox or PlayStation meaning the bottom most button on the switch (B) is the activate button and might throw people use to Xbox controls as that B button is somewhere else so the prompts might throw some people.

The second thing is that to access the multiplayer portion you have to pay a monthly subscription to use the Nintendo online feature, this is again similar to how Xbox live works and isn’t game breaking but just better to know before you buy.

Once again, this is a great game and works very well on this console, Praise the Sun!

This my first experience of a dark souls game, although I have played through Bloodborne on PS4.

From a technical standpoint I had no expectation of how this should run, but I’m very pleased with the finished product. The game is clearly based on the old console generation version and not the ‘remastered’ version released earlier this year for PS4 and Xbox one consoles. That’s not to say it doesn’t come with enhancements. The resolution and frame rates are much improved over the Xbox 360 game. The game looks a little ‘muddy’ but it runs consistently well across the board. The portable mode is particularly impressive and is my preferred way to play.

The game itself is fantastic but I’d suggest you look into the type of game it is if you’re a first time player of the genre.

I’ve never played Dark Souls but I fell in love with Bloodborne. This game will not offer you amazing graphics. It will put your patience to extreme test. But the satisfaction when you succeed after countless hours of blood, sweat and tears is something hard to describe.

What you have to remember about this game is that the vast majority of gamers do not like dark souls. They find it too hard, unforgiving, unrewarding, vague in it’s progression. These are the things that some gamers actually find annoying. For too long games have held your hand, pointed you in a direction with blinks on a minimap, given you clues and hints. This game does not do that. This game expects you to use your actual human brain, dexterity, comprehension skills and ability to analyse and learn from your mistakes to progress. If you have never played dark souls before you have to go into the game EXPECTING TO DIE A LOT. You will not beat the game in X amount of hours as others have said they did. You will not speed run through it to go on to the next game you have lying around. Dark souls will almost become your SOLE game you play for over 2000 hours. Even after you have played it to death and become a master at it, much like one becomes a master at Chess, you will find reasons and excuses to play it yet again. It takes a kind of personality and willpower to play DS. If this isn’t you, this game is not for you. The game itself is excellent. The remastered port is flawless except for a few online connection issues troubling people on launch day. The entire game is essentially single player but you have a few added new multilayer pvp aspects to mess around with as well. Even I don’t entirely like this game but that’s no reason to give it a bad rating. I like many players hate how many times I die and how much effort has to be put in to succeed… But when you do learn and succeed, you feel euphoria. You immediately shift from hating to loving DS. If you ever felt like your switch simply doesn’t have the kind of game you can sink your entire life into that you will keep playing to death and replaying to death, well this is that game you have been missing.

Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersGame of the Year before I play it!
This is my most anticipated release of the year by far. I have got a high level save on xbox(which I don’t own anymore) and playing PC version with HD texture mods and a program called DSFix and it looks stunning. The Switch version will just be 1080p on TV and 720P on handheld, wheras the xbox,ps4 and PC version will be 4K, but I don’t care. The lure of being able to play Darksouls, my favourite game of all time, on a handheld is impossible to resist.

This game is that good, it is worth buying a Switch just for it, as I’m sure many people will.

This game is incredible from every department such as tight responsive combat, you die it’s your fault. The artwork/world has and incredible vibe that you can’t help but get lost in it. The enemies, are brilliant with some huge and amazing bosses. The sound is awesome.

Basically everything about this game is awesome, it’s better then 2 or 3 or even Bloodbourne.

Gaming perfection, so pleased they released an modern console remaster.

Stick to it, and you’ll get good at it.

When it initially releases, you’ll be able to play this tough as nails title anywhere you go. When you die, and you will die, a lot, take what you’ve learnt and apply it to the next attempt. A metaphor for life if ever I heard one.
