This is a pleasing piece of design and manufacture that looks as if it hasn’t changed since the 50s. Two burly stainless steel end panels bookend a comparatively delicate bent sheet metal casing, all fastened together like an old aircraft. The switchgear is fantastically utilitarian. The controls work independently of eachother. The heating element is operated by a timer, not a thermostat. The lever that lifts the toast works off a simple pivot and is decoupled from the electrics. There is a switch that controls the number of active heating elements; saving energy when the toaster is running at less than full capacity. There’s not much that can go wrong here. And if it does, it’ll be repairable.
This is an indulgent purchase and hard to justify. It does the same job as toasters 1/10 the cost. I feel guilty for having spent so much on it, but this feeling should fade over the decades of service this lovely toaster will give.
Treat yourself. Got to save up for the matching kettle now. I have given my old toaster to a friend, another dualit. Yes they are a lot of money, but spoil yourself.
Beautiful, Durable, and makes perfect evenly cooked toast every time. I’ve fallen in love with eating toast again, since I bought a Dualit!
Excellent toaster making perfect toast, large slots mean things like crumpets etc can be toasted with ease also. Very easy to clean with the slide out tray at the bottom. I have family members who have bought this toaster and it has lasted over 20 years so definitely worth the money!!!

It was a delight to use this toaster.
Simple but stylish design that produces toast that is evenly toasted on both sides.
Easy to clean and a boon to any kitchen.

Bought this to replace our 6th toaster (in 50’s). This is not a cheap toaster but it has good build quality, feels heavy and well put together. Part of the reason to purchase was parts are available and its straight forward to repair. Toasts evenly on both sides and takes a Warbuton slice.
From the beginning the end slots of my 4 slot unit only toasted one side of the bread. Two years in and the toaster no longer works. The timer has stuck, the unit didn’t switch off, and I assume overloaded the elements. It is repairable for a reason. It will need repair. Avoid this product.

British product, classic styling. One of the few toasters on the market that toasts the whole slice (most have slots that are too shallow for modern loaves). Unfortunately, the “bagel” one sided toasting is only available on the 4+ slot version which was not made clear in the marketing blurb so I was a little disappointed to discover my 2 slot version couldn’t do this. I love the knob mechanism for raising the slices – you can do this to check progress, too – no toast pinging out on to the floor for the dog to snaffle!

Well worth the extra few quid. So good a toaster.
Just be careful when utilising only 3 of the 4 slots, as the 3rd slot toast will likely cook more than the other 2

Love the shadow and design of this classic little toaster but find the only drawback is that the outer casing becomes very hot when toasting.
Brilliant, makes the best toast of any toaster I have owned over the last 40 years, and it is simply repairable if it fails. Brilliant b it of Kitchen ki

This is awesome, it well designed and built like a tank. It makes encouraging noises as it browns your bread. It is a Rolls Royce product. It is special.

I love this toaster. It looks great and as the parts can be replaced it is good for the planet too. Solid basic construction, no unnecessary knobs or dials and just one crumb tray which is easy to clean and remove. Great evenly browned toast. Love the fact you can raise toast to see if its done yet. Would highly recommend.

Classic design , I’ve used one at work and loved it wanted one for home use , consistent in toasting and you can get spare parts , you might find it expensive but it is worth it .
Best of all it’s made in Britain quality craftsmanship with the persons name on the bottom .

Love this type of toaster, much quicker than conventional toasters. Crumbs collect in tray at the bottom, unlike other toasters which seem to get everywhere.

Where to start, this toaster is brilliant… Then again, it’s expensive. For the price you would hope it does a lot more than just toast things, but you’re out of luck, it is literally a toaster.
The toast that comes out of this is fantastic though and perfectly toasted. I would 100% buy this again, if you are looking for a premium toaster with replaceable parts, this is the best there is!
Great durable toaster. You can not only replace heating elements but also the timer too. I like it’s UK made and can be repaired. It’s a classic that looks really stylish.
This toaster does what it says on the tin
Have toasted bread muffins and crumpets so far with excellent results
The lever which you can lift to see if the toast is done to your liking is useful
Highly recommend

bought to replace delonghi that was very poor despite being highly rated.
Works very well and quite fast.
Not cheap but highly recommend
Simple, robust, involving, no electronics and repairable and makes really good toast !
It’s a trifle bulky but it really works. Gives better all over toast than our previous Sage The Smart 4 and will hopefully be more resilient (that lasted 4 months being used twice a week before fusing the whole house!). Very easy to use as long as you read the directions.

Relatively expensive but seems to be of quality construction and looks good.
Someone is always going to say, “you can buy a perfectly good toaster for a tenner.” And they’ll be right!
It’s very nice though and makes good toast, and hopefully will last. It costs too much if we’re all being honest with eachother, but I don’t regret buying it.
Works perfectly every time
Would recommend looks and it’s great looking too- super pleased

Had this make and model of toaster for years. This cream one is lovely. However still has the same wobbly crumb tray at the bottom.
Great classic design purchased at a good price… much better than the budget toasters that ho to landfill after a few years

Makes the bread nice and crunchy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. Doesn’t burn either.
Well built English product which does what it says on the ti
Very good quality product, as you would expect at this price point. Takes a few days to get the ideal setting, regarding what colour of toast you prefer. Feels like it will last a lifetime.

Love this. Looks good and works good. British made. What is not to like?
A lovely sturdy, traditional British built toaster. Back to the old style of toasting which is a very controllable and efficient piece of kit once you get used to the different way of using it. I use the sandwich cages with it all the time even for toast only, as it appears to toast more evenly and make removal far more easily and avoids burning your fingers on the hot toast. Overall very pleased with my purchase in spite of the high price and would recommend it. I did have reservations initially about it not being a “pop up” but after using it for a while, I far prefer the controllability of this toaster and there is the added benefit of having replaceable parts. I have purchased many toasters over the years and am hoping this will last for many years to come.
What can I say? It’s Dualit…. replacing a very old, past mending similar model… it’s almost family- and visitor -proof and worth the money – the old one out-lived many, often replaced, toasters owned by other members of the family.
Elements last well, but when they do eventually wear out, unlike most toasters, they are easily replaced with available spare parts.
Doubt I will need to at my age, but I’d buy another if this one wears out.
Best toaster ever – have had mine for 25 years and bought this for present. You can replace every part. Amazing price compared to JL
Beautiful machine, makes excellent toast. Plenty of room for big bread, very handy that you can lift the bread to check. Toast is crisp outside without being dried out like in cheap toasters. Very satisfying piece of equipment overall.
quality is apparent
have toasted sliced bread in our existing toaster and then later a good quality bagel in the Dualit
the dualit cooked slower through the product rather than quick surface toasting in our original toaster
so far so encouraging
liked the fact that the toasted bagel remained in the warm toaster ready for use
slots good width, toasting both sides
I makes toast fast but well cooked and yet soft. Just as I like it.
Great toaster. As soon as I started toasting the toast, ah the smell, it’s proper toast smell that took me back years.
Very pleased I paid out for this design classic. It’s old school and clunky.

This is a beautifully made, sturdy toaster. It operates differently to your normal pop-up toasters so it might take some getting use to. It toasts quicker than regular models so you end up with a toast that’s crisp on the outside and soft in the middle which I very much prefer. This is a product that will last a lifetime if you look after it and the manufacturer provides spare parts in case it needs fixing down the line.
Its what you pay for and we love it 🙂
I already had a dualit classic and loved it. This was an extravagant replacement bought only for the colour to match other products in my kitchen and still love it.

Probably the best toaster money can buy. Robust and fool proof.
Quality product – there are lots of toasters out there but others just make toast – this one makes you smile .Its like comparing a Ford Fiesta with a Morgan or Aston Martin both do the same thing but the Dualit does it with style.

Amazing my nan love it’s its so much its way better then our old one so amazing
This was a replacement for the original model I have had for 25 years elements changed two or three times – new model has wider slots so hence the purchase no reason not to expect the same performance – my old one still working.
Had it for a couple of months now so feel it’s ok to review. I love it, it’s heavier and chunkier than the Chinese made toaster and definitely made to last (will probably see me out) One question is why does the dial for temperature go so high? Anything past 2.5 will find your toast cremated. Another thing to keep in mind the second slices of toast will toast faster than the first because the toaster is now up to speed and not warming up. That said I love the standard of toasting it achieves and if you are not quite ready it’s nice to know you leave it in the toaster to keep it warm.
After having many toasters over the years, Dualit beats the lot —Perfect toast each time.
This is our second Dualit toaster, we had the other one for over 10 years. So I am confident that this will be just as good.
Entirely reliable, simple to use and consistent in toasting quality.
I love the vintage look, functionality and quality of this product. Its so easy to use and the defrost function works so well if toasting bread straight out of freezer, once defrosted and toasted its just like toasted fresh bread.
Toasts perfectly, even Sourdough bread from local baker which isn’t always sliced that thinly. Some of the reviews said that it didn’t toast well however this is not my experience. Each time perfect toasting.
I love the mechanical way the dial is a timer, not a fan of digital things and so this sturdy little toaster which has been made in the UK and has a guarantee is made to last.
This was a replacement for the same model I d had for a long time. Speaks for itself.
I used to have a 4 slice Dualit toaster which was very good but people kept putting in 2 slices while having it switched to heat 4 so I bought this 2 slicer which should work very well for my purposes.

Nice toaster and it cooks the toast ok, the tray underneath is very cheap looking. I bought the kettle so it all matched but wished I’d bought the SMEG one. It looks ok but not worth 200
The toaster came on time, works well and looks great. I also got the sandwich toasting addition and that has been a great success. At the end of the day it is just a toaster and it’s pretty expensive…but I’m very happy with it.

Stylish, British, makes good toast, bit pricey but then Dualit products generally are.
Fabulous toasting and stylish to look at – we’ll worth the money.
Got fed up with throwing toasters away when the spring mechanism goes.
Tried to get the last one repaired, but the bloke in the shop almost laughed at me.
He suggested buying a Dualit, because if anything goes wrong with it he CAN repair it.
So, three Murphy Richards toasters to the recycling centre in just over 2 years, I took the plunge and splashed out on this.
It’s great!
Heavy and well made. Easy to use with no twiddly bits.
It has a one slice or two slice setting – so that is saving me money straight off.
The lifting bar (it doesn’t ‘pop’ up) let’s you lift the toast to check how it’s doing, so you can take it out when it is perfect for you. The timer is – wait for it – clockwork!
I usually set mine to level 2.
It stops cooking when the level timer stops.
It’s easier to use than to write about it.
I have seen these things in hotels before and always wondered what made them so special, and now I know.
Apparently I am now trendy it seems!
All I know is, I get perfect toast, and I will be taking this one to the repair shop if it breaks down, and not to the recycling centre.
The build quality is making, no electronics, just mechanical timer and leavers.
Looks fantastic, easy to empty the crumb tray.
It’s expensive and tbh, over priced but unfortunately, hand made quality items costs.
The most important thing, it makes great toast, evenly browned and quite quick.
It has the name of the person on the bottom that assembled the toaster, so Faith, if your reading this, thanks for your craftsmanship.
Bought to replace a very old one. Good value, looks pretty and works amazingly well.
This toaster is to replace my old Dualit Classic toaster showing signs of wearing out after 25 years of perfect use. For peace of mind this is the toaster to buy. Worth every penny.
Doe’s what it supposed to do got it for 87 said used but was brand new.
Excellent toaster. Toast is lovely and crispy on the outside. Hopefully will last my lifetime.
Purchased for my Father at his request. Looks nice but is a toaster…..
Nothing exceptional for the price.
Tried cheaper. Waste of time. Pay the money. Get the best one.
The toast can be made to order by looking at its progress with the lever and really getting an accurate result. It also keeps the toast warm if you like it that way. Love i
It is expensive however you get exactly what it says on the tin! Buy British!
A stylish , good quality toaster. I’ve had it for about 3 months now and so far quite happy with this toaster. I would highly recommend.
Bought as a replacement for previous Dualite that finally packed up after 12 years.
It’s simple to use and produces great toast every time.
I bought this toaster from Amazon in July 2008 and I’ve just made some lovely toast using the same toaster almost 12 years later. Yes it’s a bit pricey, but it does a good job and it’s better than buying several cheaper toasts that just break after a few months.

Great toaster but not as well made as the original one I bought 25 years ago.
Amazing toaster – pricey, but you get what you pay for. I had previously bought a cheapo toaster before but it lasted all of 4 weeks before the springs went – wished I had bought this first.
Great toaster. looks stylish the only down site is that if you only do three slices the one next to the empty slot over toasts
Simple operation easy controls. Would be easy to repair and locate parts yourself. Previous one still in use after 35 years.
The chrome and copper model has a real retro but modern outlook. On top of this, its not from China but British made!
Classic. We have some of these in the family that have lasted 30 years! Parts replaceable too so good for the environment. Look great!
Attractive classic styling, well built easy to use and clean. If needed only need to use one element for single piece of toas
it was described as used and at just over half price took a chance. when it arrived it was perfect, no damage worked fine cooks toast evenly, so all we can think of the person who originally bought it sent it back after taking it out of the box, unused. What we always wanted with the added bonus of an excellent price and is a great toaster compared to the ones we bought in the pas

I always fancied having a mechanical toaster and have no regrets now we have one. A beautiful thing to sit in the kitchen, and it makes toast!
