I recently got my electric guitar out of the attic after 10 years for my young son and purchased these after using Super Slinky strings years ago. These are excellent quality and sound amazing. Really good value and I highly recommend them.
I have played on every type of stage from pub gig to the O2 over a 40 year career and I’ve only ever had 3 string breaks!! They hold their tuning and can handle a months worth of regular gigging. I only use Ernie Ball strings!
I use 11s for my LP and 10s for the Strat and Telly.
Great strings, Ernieball’s quality keep improving. Longevity totally depends on the player, how often you practice/play. I play all my guitars so they normally last 2-4 weeks.
I have used Ernie Ball Super Slinky on my electrics for 40 odd years. With the price of guitars sky rocketing, other items have been increasing with them. Especially guitar strings, which if they increase much more would cost as much as a decent guitar did 4 years ago. So it’s good to get a better deal by buying in bulk, plus it’s less expensive to have a spare set in your case for unwanted breakages.
These guitar strings are of superb quality , long lasting bright and zingy on the top with a great bass punch at the bottom end.
I would recomend them for rock, jazz, and blues thats all the stuff that Iuse them for, and at a reasonable price.
Good value for the money.
They are ok, they don’t last long and get a rusty feel in a few days but I got them for the bottom 3 strings do give some more base to the sound.
Great sound from the strings and have very good durability
Used by beginners and pros alike, best strings out there. Great overall tone.
I recommend them. They are a bit pricey but worth
Got these for my guitar playing daughter. exactly what she wanted and she restrung her first guitar herself. A happy musician!
Good all round strings for my tele last pretty well use them a lot.
The best strings I have used on my guitar, great sound and really tough.
I used these strings DAILY on my electric guitar for a good few months until I was gifted new ones. They are by far the most durable strings I’ve tried and other than dirt build up which is expected with literally any guitar strings I’d say these guitar strings have 0 flaws
good value, just what I needed for my Squier Vibe – Steve Norto
These are great, in this 11-56 gauge they don’t feel a million miles different from my acoustic’s strings so I don’t have to consciously readjust when switching from one to the other at a gig.
They last a good while, and sound good for a good amount of playing time don’t go dead and Jane no treble left in three hours like some I’ve used.
Nothing to really say on these I think Ernie Ball strings speak for themselves. High end strings
Well that’s it for the local music shop ~ they wanted 8.99 for one set of these.
Amazon were selling Ernie Ball Regular Slinky Nickel Wound Electric Guitar Strings 3 Pack – 10-46 Gauge for only 15 delivered free with Prime.
So if they can make a profit at 5 a set, the music shop will have to modify prices otherwise everyone will buy from Amazon ~ end of music shop.
Great strings, consistent quality, this set of 10~46 strings suits my style of playing.
Will always order online from now on.
I’ve used EB for 20 years, always reliable, stay in tune & decent value.
These are genuine Ernie Ball strings (a little research will help you distinguish between real and fake).
Perfect weight if you want that compromise between 10s and 11s. You can get your delicate lead bends or you can dig in with your heavy chords.
I was so pleased with them I ordered another pack three days later to keep in stock though the price had risen by around three quids. Such is the crazy fluctuation phenomena of Amazon! Fortunately I had a fiver discount on them.
Highly recommended strings overall.
I’ve been migrating to ever lighter strings for a couple of years now as my hands are getting older and a little arthritic. These strings sound as good as heavier ones when plugged in, are fantastically light and beautifully easy to bend. The only snag is that on first trying them, they are quite easy to inadvertantly bend out of tune, especially with some chords, though I found I quickly adjusted my technique.
I recently bought a PRS Hollowbody SE that came fitted with 10-46 strings.
My go-to string gauges are 10s for ‘Fender’ scale length guitars and 11s for ‘Gibson’ scale length guitars. The PRS at 25 inches sits in the middle and the 10s felt just a little too slinky for me. SO I tried the 10.5 set for the first time and it’s worked out well. I think 11s would have been a bit too stiff for the bluesy bends I want to do on this guitar.
If you are not satisfied with your strings but don’t want to jump up or down a whole gauge, try the half-way house of a .5 set.
I have had a top ‘E’ break after only a couple of hours playing but that is very rare and usually the fault of a sharp edge or rough fret on the guitar. Oddly I also seem to get a fair number of ‘A’ string breakages but I reckon that is more that particular guitar’s fault too.
these do sound lovely and jangly and fresh when first fitted but they lose that fairly quickly. For that reason and to minimise the chances of a breakage on stage, I have a two gig (three maximum) limit on my stage guitars for strings (not quite rich enough to have new strings every gig yet). All strings lose their vitality after a while and they are more likely to break the longer they are on the guitar particularly if you’re doing a lot of 1-step/1.5-step bends.
So, I like these strings and they are all I buy for my electric guitars. I think they are value for money but you do have to keep them fresh.
Strings are actually a big part of your sound and there’s little point in buying lovely, crisp, expensive pickups if you are going to leave the strings on forever.
It’s Ernie Ball strings, what else can I say haha.
Strings were ok , but no surprises as have used them before .
Should have been same day delivery, but took 4 days to arrive 🙁
Very bright, clean sounding tones. Have been played daily and still not dulled
These strings have been around a long time and there’s a reason for that, I was a diehard d’addario user but these last so much longer, in fact they’re on par with the Elixir strings longevity and that’s saying something.
The strings are smooth and easy on the fingers which is ideal for a learner like me.
Very good electric guitar strings, good quality, I’ll buy again from this selle
Good set of strings for a great price. Compared to other strings from D’addario, Gibson, and Elixer, these strings are a much better value since they are so cheap. However, in all the years that I have been playing, I have not once said, “man this guitar is great, what kind of strings are these?” Great guitars play and sound great, period, given of course that you are using at least decent strings. I know that every guitarist has their go-to strings, as do I (and the brands and styles vary across each of my guitars), but honestly strings are strings. These days, so much attention is paid to the manufacturing of these strings, that the quality and consistency is great across a number of different brands. Generally, I can’t tell much of a difference in tone, playability, or “slinky-ness” across brands. (I can hear the groans now) Hear me out though, if I want to change the tone, I will get a different string gauge, and this is the same for slinkyness. In the end, given 5 sets of top notch strings, I will pick the fresh set vs. a worn set 10 times out of 10.
Pros:
Very cheap for 3 sets of strings, that means you can change more often, which in turn means that these strings will feel and sound better longer
I feel like they definitely last longer than say Gibson vintage strings, but most coated, modern strings will be comparable.
Cons:
None
Conclusion:
Strings are strings, and given a good set of strings, I would only base this recommendation on price and great value (5 stars for that). If you are just starting out, I recommend you try a number of different strings to find your preference, but usually in a pinch whatever my local shop has on hand has worked just fine
I had never tried these before as I usually just use standard light 10/46’s but i was looking for something to use for drop D tunings , I really like these strings the first 3 treble strings are standard light gauge but the D , A and Low E make such a difference perfect for what I was looking for .
Perfect for RATM & Muse !!!
A
I’ve used these on both a Fender Telecaster and Stratocaster. They provide a good balance between ease of bending on the top strings and greater substance on the bottom end. If you find 0.9s are a little too sloppy and 0.10s a little harder to bend, these strings will bridge that gap well.
Yes these are genuine ernie ball 09 gauge strings thankfully as I purchased 2 packs from eBay that were fake losing 20 quid .
I’ll be buying fom this seller from now o
I have used these strings for years, they have a lovely tone and tend to last a good while on the guitar. I put these on a Telecaster and they brought it back to life tonally.
Guitar playing is enhanced when bends are easy. These strings will help you fly across the fretboard, without impairing your tone.
Well I did review these previously, but I’ve actually bought more as spares, these are the best strings I’ve ever had on my Gibson SG, I’ve tried strings twice the price and every top brand, I’ve genuinely bent these like Angus Young and they’ve stayed in tune… Well recommended..
May not be for pros, I dont know but I find them spot on for quality and value.
I was watching a band and the guitarist dropped his plectrum, so I handed him mine.
Sad.
Been using these for years, can’t go wrong. Nothing else to say really, apart from get yourself a guitar, or any instrument, and start playing. Good for the soul.
Just good strings for the average person , I’m sure there’s better out there but these are enough for mos
I’ve been buying strings from other retailers for many years but you can’t beat Amazon on price for a pack – more than 2 cheaper than strings direct! And of course the strings themselves are excellent quality, last a long time and sound good throughout their lifespan.
The A string was faulty, this is the first time in my life that I’ve had a bad string. Had to take it off, luckily I had a spare 42
Great strings great sound little money used by millions of guitarist. What more can you ask for.
I have been using Elixir Nanoweb strings for over twenty years.
Changed some gear recently, moved from Fender to Line6, changed to Ernie Ball strings and have never been happier with the sound I am getting.
Great tone and value.
I would advise all guitarists to give them a go.
I only use Ernie Ball strings on my electric and semi acoustic guitars. The quality has remained absolutely consistent over more years than I care to remember. I’ve tried other brands but for me these are the best professional quality strings available and very reasonably priced. I’ve tried more expensive brands but they don’t deliver anything more for the money.
After buying too many fake strings off e the bay nice to get a set of the real things
I cant use really heavy strings, so these are great, smooth to bend and a nice tone, I just need to watch my locking tuners, these can cause many a string snap, love Ernie Ball strings anyway, I think I will be swapping to these in future.
Excellent quality guitar strings. One of the best highly recommended seller and product.
I bought these strings and looked at the famous fellow users adorning the product packaging. Wow, I thought so I quickly restrung my Gibson Les Bian and guess what, I am still crap!! The strings made no difference at all! I tried to be Steve Vai but I sounded like Stephen Hawking, only still alive of course. I am sticking to welding for a living….
I’ve used Ernie Ball strings in various gauges for decades. They always sound consistent to me and last well. Can’t remember the last time I broke one.
Depending on which guitar I’m playing I can find 10 gauge a little bit cumbersome to bend and 09 gauge too thin causing me to overbend now and then. I find this 9.5 gauge ideal. First time I’ve tried them.More tone and volume than 09s and more playable than 10s. Very reasonable price. Just right for me.
I have always found the regular slinkys to be best for me. Great strings
Maybe I will try the super slinkys some day…
I had an issue with mine where if I tightened the string to be the correct tune it would be too tight but that was quickly solved with a YouTube video. Good quality strings and we’re easy to install
I don’t like the price but are expensive everywhere so you get what you pay for like most things in life
Used these guitar strings before. As good as ever and great value.
I’ve been playing for along time and
Wouldn’t use any other strings.
Sound grea
Always reliable and dependable. Sound and playability of the highest quality.
They sound and feel great also they have amazing well labelled packaging as every string comes in a paper bag of sorts and says the string size on it so you know which one goes where and saves the time of having to find the one needed or wanted out of the other 5 sorry I can’t say much else as I am only new too playing so I don’t know much other than sound and feel compared to horrible cheap 9’s.
Great strings that provide a really nice sound and make it easier to play lead – allows much more bend.
I only use Ernie Ball Strings.
You can buy others.
But I only use Ernie Ball.
There is a reason for tha
Worth it, I only bought it for the high e string and it did the job!
Amazing strings, sound very bright and great price. Only problem is I seem to break the A string vaguely frequently, more than any of the others, probably just the way I leave my pick between the strings though. Other than that minor issue, strings good 🙂
That the strings were exactly what I needed when I needed it.
I’ve been using Ernie Balls strings for over a decade and they are still as good as ever. Tips to keep them in good are to wipe down the strings after you have played them. I do this everytime to remove any grease etc from my fingers. Really good and sound great.
The ones the pros all use and you can see why. The best.
Love my ernie balls, they sound great. Especially when attached to a guita
Needed to restring my uncles guitar. Really like the feel of the Ernie balls. Great strings
