Freewell Bright Day – 4K Series – 4Pack Filters Compatible with Mavic Air 2 Drone

FREEWELL GEAR

How it helps

The Bright Day Filter Kit compatible with Mavic Air 2 drone from Freewell Gear is an excellent choice for amateurs who wish to capture professional-quality aerial footage with their Mavic Air 2 drone. It is also the perfect solution for professional cinematographers for getting cinematic aerial footage, with the right balance of contrast and colors.

The Freewell Gear Bright Day Filter Kit compatible with Mavic Air 2 drone contains four (4) hybrid (ND/PL) filters, meant to help improve the quality of footage captured in bright daytime conditions.

The ND (Neutral Density) aspect of these hybrid filters is designed to slow down the camera’s shutter speed. This is helpful in reducing the amount of light hitting the camera sensor, and in turn, allowing you to capture the desired natural ‘blur’ effect in your footage.

On the other hand, the PL (Polarizing Lens) aspect of this hybrid filter is responsible for removing the unwanted glare from naturally reflective surfaces, when shooting outdoors. In all, the hybrid filters (ND/PL) help to capture crystal-clear images and footage in bright sunny daylight conditions.

These are very good quality. The only thing I don't like about the ND/polarizer combination is the fact that you have to handle the gimbal so much. The gimbal is delicate so I don't like adjusting the filters all too much. I feel much better using the standard ND filter without the polarizer.

I got these ND filters for my Mavic Air 2 and I’m very pleased with them. They are well built and feel really solid and premium. I would highly recommend them especially if you live or will be flying in mainly warm and sunny conditions.

    Needed for cinematic footage!
These filters are very well made and fantastic optical quality. And required to maintain the 180 shutter speed rule when filming with your drone and wanting to create cinematic footage.

Insgesamt also durchaus empfehlenswert.

The ND filters make a real difference when filming on sunny days. The filters are also easy to install and uninstall. Most importantly, there is no image distortion from the filters.

    Works well
The filters works as advertised. The fit and quality is excellent. Doesn’t affect the camera or fight. It is very tiny, so be careful removing the original filter. It turns counter clockwise to move. And hold the gimbal while adding and removing.

Good optics for a lower price
Freewell Bright Day – 4K Series – 4Pack Filters Compatible with Mavic Air 2 Drone

Firstly let me go through my pros and cons for this product:

    Pro:

    Relatively cheap
    Decent range of filters
    Good quality optics

    Con:

    Not perfect fit

    ——————-

Let’s be honest, the reason people buy generic filters like these is because they are cheaper than name-brand/original products. I have no problem with using lower-priced kit, as long as they do the job almost as good as the real thing. And these are close, but with one slight problem.

Optically they do the job fine, cutting out glare and dropping the light as expected. Compared to pro-quality filters I have to test against, these are within 1% of them in terms of blocking. Not perfect, but acceptable for almost every use scenario.

The build quality is good too. Nothing feels like it’s going to break/snap, even with the usual slightly tricky installation (you soon get the hang of it).

My only problem is a couple of them felt slightly loose, although this doesn’t affect the image at all. I assume they vibrate slightly in use, but whether this will cause them to fall off is highly debatable. Personally I have no problem using these, although I always check to see if the ‘loose’ ones are still attached.

Overall this is a good, cheaper alternative that I would recommend to anyone.

    Better than I expected.
During our recent visit to the peak district I was finally able to test these filters. Often, capturing aerial images with a drone can be a tricky business, as sunlight and glare has spoiled many images from what should have been a good shoots.
I used these filters around Edale this week taking aerial images of the breathtaking Edale landscapes. The drone flight time was around 7:45pm, so the sun was starting to get low in the last week of August. I took 2 image sweeps with the drone. The first one, without the filter and 2nd one with the filter.
For sure there is a significant increase in video quality when using the filter. The unfiltered camera, often picked up glare from the sun when the camera made a pass via the direction of sunlight.
I then attempted virtually the same aerial manoeuvre, and analysed the images on my laptop which proved that the filters do exactly what they say they do, and that is to increase drone aerial images. The filters have certainly given me more confidence when I next get asked to do aerial shots. I just wish I had obtained these filters sooner, as they would have saved me significant time doing the aerial reshoots.

    Exactly What I Needed!
These ND Filters are awesome! They fit the Mavic Air 2 perfectly and are pretty easy to take on and off. No issues with weight as they do not cause any shaking with the gimbal movements and the video remains perfect.

The ND filters included in this kit are best used on bright days (as the box states) and they do their job very well allowing for very nice video when the sun is shining. I found they really make some cool effects during the morning and evening (during the day they work well, too, but I just love the effect from early morning or evening sun).

You really get a lot for the low price with these ones and they do their job very well. They come in a very nice protective case and it’s strong and sturdy.

All in all, if you are looking for a quality set of Bright Day ND filters to add to your Mavic Air 2 collection, these are it!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersUpdated after contact with manufacture
Edit: Below is my original review with video included which I will leave if others gets same problem as I did. I contacted manufacturer with question why it is this happening with their filters and they replied me back:
Their ND filters are made with CNC and therefore in my case filters needs few times (4 or 5x on and off) to be installed in order to go on and off easier. I tried that and it worked. Attach points on drone are fine, other filters and even original ones from fly more combo are still attached well after steps that I had to do with Freewell nd filters. Now I can recommend them and in any case if same happens to anyone, try same steps as I mentioned above. I’m still leaving 4* in consideration that this won’t happen again with any other product from company.

In a video I show how easy is to install original ND filters that comes with Mavic Air 2 fly more combo and how hard is to install and remove Freewell. I’m really concerned that repeated installation/removal would stress or wear the attach points on the Mavic Air 2 camera and therefore I can not use these filters in any way. I can only think that I had bad luck with them as reviews on youtube never mentioned this kind of problem.

Warum bentigt man eigentlich solche Filter?

By default, I fly with the UV filter on for lens protection. Shooting in very bright locations with a lot of contrast between land and sky I can make the selection that best fits the needs of the shoot. the easy on/off makes adjustments a breeze. Well made. have dropped a couple of several times with nary a scratch.

    Wow
These have you covered for a wide variety of filming scenarios. Due to the fixed aperture on the Air 2 these are extremely important for your environment and to ensure the frame rates you want in relation to what you just happen to get.

The quality of them is very impressive. You are certainly getting your moneys worth. They are durable and they come with a very convenient case that keeps them safe and secure.

It can be a bit confusing at first to put on the filter but the trick is to place it slanted then just twist and push up to fix the position in place. Its a very convenient product specially because there is 4 in a pack.

I highly recommend picking up this set for the air 2, if you’re looking to make more cinematic videos!

You could buy PolarPro filters, they are supposedly the best there is, but honestly Freewell are just as good. ND filters are for allowing you to use slower shutter speeds in case you are not familiar with their use. They are NOT sunglasses for your drone. By letting in less light, you can use slower shutter speeds so you avoid the "jitter" in viewing the video, it allows enough motion blur for true cinematic effect the same all motion pictures do. Freewell is the best bang for the buck and offers many kinds of filters for the different DJI drones. These are for the Mavic 2 Pro Hasselblad lens. Easy on, easy off. Some of these combine ND filter with polarizers for eliminating glare and making blue skies richer when drone is pointed 90 degrees to the sun (I might have that angle wrong, but look it up.) I use Freewell for all my DJI drones.

Hope everyone is doing well! I haven't used it for an extended amount of time but for the time I have used it, it truly is the one of the best 4 pack nd filter pack for the dji mavic air 2! It doesn't remove any sharpness, or introduce any major color shifts. They are a bit more on the magnet/warmer side but that can be easily removed in any editing software. And in some cases, that can be a plus! It can be a bit confusing at first to put on the filter but the trick is to place it slanted then just twist and push up to fix the position of the nd. Super convenient to have a 4 pack set to cover you on all circumstances that you will shoot with this drone. I highly recommend picking up this nd set for the dji mavic air 2 if you're looking to make more cinematic videos!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersFantastici!
