FZONE 4L Aquarium CO2 Generator System Carbon Dioxide Reactor Kit with Regulator and Needle Valve for 600-800g Raw Material

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Mix 600-800 gram citric acid and 600-800 gram sodium bicarbonate inside the bottle
  2. Add 900-1200ml tap water to the bottle and cap the bottle with the enclosed regulator quickly
  3. While the CO2 gas is produced slowly inside the bottle, adjust the needle valve accordingly. It takes approximately 45 minutes for the bubbles to stabilize after each needle valve adjustment
  4. If the solenoid is purchased, remove the bubble counter from the regulator (do NOT unscrew the regulator) and attach the solenoid to it. Connect the power cord to the electrical outlet. As gas is continued to generate inside the bottle, adjust the needle valve to the desired bubble count

Q: Is the bottle body strong enough under the pressure? What are the specific parameters?

A: Yes. The bottle is completely safe. The bottle has a safety valve built-in. It will open automatically when the inside pressure exceeds the threshold

Assembling the system was not difficult at all, looking forward to see how long it will last. So far so good

This thing was a game changer for me. I was previously attempting to use a yeast/sugar system that was messy and unreliable. It got me by, but this thing has been better than I imagined. I recommend getting the solenoid as well. It has cut my aquarium maintenance in half. My plants are very happy and my tank is looking great. I just followed the instructions. I’ve been using it for over a month now with no problems at all. I recommend you use care when putting it together.. no need to screw things in super tight. If you’re gentle and careful like I was I don’t think you should have any issues.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis was very easy to set up. No leaks, performs as advertised. The cylinder and valve assembly seem to be very well made. Following the directions, I filled the tank with 200g baking soda, 200g citric acid and 300ml water. Prior to filling, I mixed the dry ingredients together in a bowl. What I didn’t expect, was how fast the reaction starts once the water is poured in. Be ready to screw in the regulator. The reaction happens so fast, that gas pushes out making it a bit difficult to screw the regulator on. So practice lining up the threads beforehand. I have mine plugged into a Apple HomeKit remote switch. The CO2 comes on 2hrs prior to the lights and shuts off an hour before the lights. At night, the air bubbler turns on. So hopefully a good balance of CO2 and air is taking place. Buy ingredients in bulk and it becomes very cost effective. This is a short term review, I’ll update in the future.

Not a lot of instructions on how to set it all up. I had to search a lot of steps to make sure I was setting it up right. Once running it is working great.

The system leaked and solenoid was apparently to blame. Company replaced solenoid and all seems to be working well now. Great customer service.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersSo after setting up my new planted for my new tank I found my plants weren’t doing well in my tank, all my ph & etc. levels were good & the tank was cycled before planting. After seeing the fluval co2 system in a store I started researching the benefits of adding a co2 generator to the tank. With a tight budget in-mind, I looked into what long-term cost options were the best. These larger tank co2 generators are more efficient because they can be turned off with a solenoid and recharging the tank is cheaper than the fluval co2 cartridges, and still cheaper than the bike tire inflator co2 cartridges that I was going to use had I bought the fluval. I’m so glad I bought this, I set the solenoid to a smart switch along with the lights for the tank. This tank lasted almost 2 months in my 29gal. on a bubble per second, which is great. One thing I did have to do unfortunately was change the diffuser that came with the kit, it would only bubble if you opened the valve completely, not good… but as soon as the diffuser was replaced everything was running like it should. My plants have begun to flourish, never had luck with aquarium plants unless they were plastic or fabric, I now understand why. Even in a heavily populated tank, your plants might not be getting the co2 they need to really grow, which is why I highly recommend this co2 generator.

Works well but need to change the little diffuser that comes with it. One fill-up lasts about 4 weeks with 2-3 bubbles a second runny for 8 hours daily.

    On the positive side:

    1) Setup was pretty straightforward, though printed instructions are a bit fuzzy. I used a couple of semi-helpful YouTube videos and online basic chemistry tutorials for assistance.
    2) A single charge (recommended mixture of citric acid and baking soda) has lasted four weeks (and still going), with a rate of one CO2 bubble per second for most of that time.
    3) Though a drop checker suggests a suboptimal CO2 level, what’s being produced has noticeably enhanced plant growth and health (upping the CO2 release rate may make a bigger difference).

    Negatives:
    1) The CO2 diffuser disk provided with the kit is smaller than others sold separately, and released a number of larger bubbles, thus limiting surface area for diffusion through the tank. I obtained a larger disk from Ciscea that is efficient at producing a wider stream of microbubbles in the aquarium.
    2) The needle valve on the FZone apparatus is _ very_ sensitive, so it’s tricky getting the exact bubble rate you want.

Overall, I’m pleased with how the setup is working thus far.

Alles dabei was man braucht. Guter Hndler

    Tipp:

I am new to CO2 in a high tech tank. This set up really works well. Have it on a timer and for my 10 gallon lasted a month. Moved it to my 30 and will need to tweak it but obviously running out faster. Setting time for a little less and will probably up the raw material just a little to stretch it out further.

2/9/2022 in a 5gallon, first batch only lasted 2 months.

Easy to setup and use. Took off one star due to the bad suction cups that come with the diffuser and the diffuser not diffusing at 100% surface area. CO2 bubbles come out only in a small area so I had to purchase better one. The 2 suction cups that are included with the CO2 line are much better than the 2 that came with the diffuser. Was concerned purchasing this after reading the bad reviews but I haven’t had any problems yet 2 weeks into using it on timers.

Seems to be doing the job. The only problem I had with it was that the tubing is quite robust and is hard to straighten. So when you attach the diffuser and the cups to the tubing, it tends to turn to the side or come away from the glass. I resolved the problem by rolling the tubing the opposite way and adding more suction cups. Excellent value for money and the regulator is solid and not flimsy

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThere are a few identical sets like this out there from different brands, so I don’t know who copied who. I got the Fzone one and I am happy with it. Once you fill it up it will provide you with exactly 3 weeks of steady and stable C02, based on one drop per second. While this is, as are most C02 generators, a pretty expensive set, it’s still cheaper than some others out there – sometimes even half of the price of those and no, adding a solenoid to the set doesn’t excuse a price of 100 Euros more than this one, nor does adding a few bags of baking soda and citric acid. Only downside of this set is that they rap in the instructions in the leaflet and on the bottle itself of 200 grams of material A and 220 grams of material B, without explaining what these respective materials are, baking soda or citric acid. In the I just just did 200 grams of both and added 300 ml of water as per instructions, which landed me with exactly, to the day, 3 weeks of good and stable C02 supply for my planted tank. If you’re going to get a C02 kit, I can recommend this one and buy their solenoid with it for 23 quid – get yourself baking soda from your local supermarket and if they don’t sell citric acid there, get your hands on half a liter of lemon juice (so, the recipe would then be: 200 grams of baking soda plus 500 ml of lemon juice), leaving the water out of it. If that also isn’t possible, a kilo of citric acid over here costs about a tenner. In all you will still be cheaper off than buying the one that is twice as expensive, because after a few weeks, you also have to buy baking soda and citric acid with those.

Our first attempt at filling the tank didn’t work out, no fizz at all, but we believe that was due to our “user error” of pouring in the dry ingredients one on top of the other & not mixing them up first. 2nd attempt, we mixed & there was an immediate reaction. Easy to assemble. Works Great! Filled up 4 months ago on 30G tank & the tank is barely a 3rd down. The diffuser isn’t the fanciest but overall great for the price. The directions could be improved, very bad english translation, the internet helped.

Just a FYI, my video has a Neo diffuser instead of the included one. Other than that, the amount of flexibility and precision afforded by this DIY system is worth it alone. I feel better and better about this purchase because of the amount of money I’m saving from disposables!! It also helps that these are solid enough products! Remember: need to buy citric acid and baking soda separately!

A very good CO2 system from FZONE. The extra parts that came with the bundle are useful and overall great built quality (i.e. pressure valve, bubble counter, extra tubings, diffuser etc.). The head doesn’t leak and is very easy to screw tight. The taller bottle helps when filling up the bottle when adding the water. (gas/water don’t just bubble out). Will see about how durable this is in a long run (I’m on the 3rd week of using it).

First time setting up CO2 for a planted aquarium. This set up is easy and after proper research anyone can do it. Mine has worked perfectly for 3 weeks now and just replaced the materials. I really love how inexpensive the materials are and the reusable tank pays for itself. A little nerve wracking when you add the powders then the water, you’re in a race against time to get all the water in while it’s trying to bubble up and react. The kit comes with a funnel, but would recommend to order a larger mouthed one. Also have handy another measuring cup, one for powders and one for water. The safety of the canister is a big plus for me. Ensure all parts are tightened, test with soapy water to make sure there are no leaks. I keep the canister in a small bucket because it condensates and becomes very cold. All in all, this set up is affordable, durable, and perfect for my 29 gallon. Would recommend to anyone.

My co2 generator arrived yesterday. I immediately set it up and it works as advertised. I don’t have an aquarium, I’m using it as a co2 source for a mosquito trap. The thought of lugging co2 tanks back and forth for refills didn’t appeal to me so I decided to try one of these. The co2 line for the trap fits perfectly to the output nozzle at the top of the bubble counter on the generator. I have it set to 10+ bps, higher than what you’d normally use for an aquarium but just good enough to lure the flying bloodsuckers to their demise. It’s been pumping out co2 for around 21 hours straight now and the pressure still looks good, bubbling away. Regardless of how long it ends up lasting on a single charge, it is a lot easier to refill this thing than lugging big co2 tanks back and forth.

Funciona perfectamente.

EDIT: the high pressure gauge is showing pressure now, I believe it is/was faulty as it took over 48 h to show any readings, the system was up and running with low pressure readings looking good all this time. The dial might have been just stuck in place initially.
Provides me with good, cheap CO2. Got the solenoid as well, all working pretty good so far.

I did have a few issues at the start.

I had a leak at a valve not sure where and had to replace the contents twice over 3 days. I then bought a solenoid as there wasn’t an option to add with my purchase and an attachment nut again had some leaks – I’ve added additional washers, tightened the bolts and fingers crossed it’s been running for about 4 days and the content pressure clock has barely moved. I’m running a bubble a second.

The PSI for pressure leaving the generator doesn’t work at all and never has since I’ve set it up. I’m able to see movement only by the bubble counter. Not a biggy but would be nice to see this.

Packaging was good and nicely set out. I read some reviews about how bad the instructions were before buying so watched some YouTube videos which really helped. Also I didn’t think the instructions were too bad just that there was no way of identify what material was A or B – but another person sates this in their review.

On a whole for a novice just getting into CO2 systems it’s not been to bad considering the prices of some of the other generators. The product itself seems to be made well, just a shame about the psi pressure gage.

Hopefully I’ve fixed the leak and I’ll get more than a day out of the contents.

On a whole seems to be working

Cons: the only thing I would moan about are the instructions are not well written (they have been translated from Chinese into English).
    Things that stand out:
    1. You have to add Citric Acid and Bicarbonate of Soda. The Instructions say add material A/ 200g and material B/ 220g but they don’t say which one is which. See below.
    2. Instruction do not mention the filter or how to fit it.
    3. Gauges on regulator are marked in PSI but instructions mention 1MPa(10KG/CM2)
    4. Also, my regulator was faulty (see image) as the output pressure always showed 0psi. It still worked though.

Why 5 stars you may ask ?
Because their customer service was very good.
I told them about the faulty regulator and they sent me a new one from China (took about 2 weeks).
I mentioned about the instructions and was told they would look into it ASAP.
As for the weight of the ingredients here’s a quote from customer service:

    “Please see the following steps:
1.Mix 200 gram citric acid and 220 gram sodium bicarbonate inside the bottle
2.Add 300ml tap water to the bottle and cap the bottle with the enclosed regulator quickly
3.While the CO2 gas is produced slowly inside the bottle, adjust the needle valve accordingly. It takes approximately 45 minutes for the bubbles to stabilize after each needle valve adjustment
4.If the solenoid is purchased, remove the bubble counter from the regulator (do NOT unscrew the regulator) and attach the solenoid to it. Connect the power cord to the electrical outlet. As gas is continued to generate inside the bottle, adjust the needle valve to the desired bubble count
Please feel free to contact us if you have any question or suggestion.”

I hope this helps someone else.

Easy to use, good customer service but instructions need to be improved

Great product, great seller, recieved my items to find out solenoid was damaged. Seller resolved issue immediately. Thanks again!

Product, good quality, and easy to use. Secondary pressure gauge isn’t working but it makes no difference to me, as I use the bubble counter as a primary dosage measurement. I use it on a 20 gallon planted aquarium. With 20 shrimp and a betta for livestock. And valisneria + dwarf hairgrass + scarlet temple. 1-2 bubbles per second makes my plants pearl, and fish seem fine as well. All hail photosynthesis 😀

    Great Photosynthesis and great seller.

I absolutely love this Co2 generator. I’m running mine at right around three bubbles a second in my thirty gallon heavily planted aquarium and I get three two four weeks per fill. I ended up buying a solenoid for it so it is now completely automated. I run mine eight hours a day and my plants look absolutely amazing. I’ve read some negative reviews on the regulator valve but must say I couldn’t be happier with the way mine has performed so far.

DIY CO2 taken to another level, this uses a reaction of baking soda, citric acid, and water to create usable CO2 for aquariums. One can expect that a 2.5l tank will last around a month or longer depending on bubbles per second. Works well with a solenoid valve.

I’m so glad I found this CO2 kit! I am a beginner when it comes to using a CO2 system and all the parts you need was confusing for me to try and piece buy stuff. This has ALMOST everything you need to start… I knew I needed it to be on a timer along with my light and from the description, it does say I would need to purchase that separately (and it was not expensive – especially compared to companies that cater to the aquarium world and professional CO2 set ups), a solenoid and even suggested what to look for.

Very easy to put together! The sticker instructions needs to be reprinted in my opinion, to give the correct amount of the citric acid/ sodium bicarbonate (equal portions, btw…) to use. That is not clear AT ALL. I suspect that there may be kits out there that actually has the chemicals already included. This one does NOT. But no worries, the stuff is cheap to buy too. Oh, and if you don’t have a gram scale, get one of those too…

Would give it 5 stars overall except that the pressure gauge got stuck at 50psi. My CO2 gas was empty and needed to be changed and I thought I needed to wait until that pressure was zeroed out after releasing the residual gas pressure. Never did. I went ahead and opened it. No issues since my gas was gone after I opened the valve to release whatever was left. Even after opening, never went down. Did the remixing of the 2 chemicals, added the water, and reattached the pressure gauge thing (). All works well except that one gauge. I’m not worried since there is a safety pressure valve if pressure ever got too high, etc.

I’m addicted to my planted tank and I know I will get more tanks in the future. This is a way cheaper option to use CO2 than buying a refillable tank and going to the sporting good store to get it refilled!

Best cheap "professional" CO2 set up for palnted tanks

I am using this great little C02 generator with the optional solenoid on my 29 gallon tank in conjunction with a Hygger 24/7 led light. I set the light to a 12 hour day where there is 6 hours of full spectrum, full power light surrounded by 3 hours of light at 20-30%. I have a timer on the C02 to be on at about 3bps when the tank is under the 6 hours of full lighting, and this schedule is working great for me. My plants are growing really well, the alternanthera reinecki is full, bushy and super red on both the top and bottom leaves, the amazon swords and java ferns are reproducing, and the vallisneria is sending up lots of new leaves. I am getting approximately 30 days per fill up at the 3bs, 6 hour a day setting, so it’s not a hassle to maintain at all. I highly recommend this product, especially if you don’t have anywhere nearby that can fill up a full size C02 tank!

Very easy unit to set up, but the instructions could be a little more clear. It only references 200g of “Material A” and 220g of “Material B” without specifying which is which. Once I searched around and settled on citric acid as “A” and baking soda as “B”, I was able to have it up and producing CO2 within about 10 minutes. After doing “Coke bottle CO2” for years with sugar and yeast, this is a much cleaner, much nicer, much more adjustable way to do CO2 injection.

My only other complaint is that the included glass “U” will not fit over a standard rimmed aquarium. You need rimless or something less than 15mm thick. Oh well, I just left it out and hung the air hose over the back.

    Ansonsten funktioniert alles sehr gut.

This has been a fantastic do it yourself system. I’ve had it a little over a month now for my 45 gallon tank and have only had to refill it once. I do equal weight of 200g each and 300ML of water, from my research it appears to be a 1:1 ratio on CO2 output. Not that much of a difference, but you’re just wasting a little bit of product.

I only deducted one star because the CO2 diffuser could use an upgrade. I started to believe I was wasting CO2 because it didn’t appear to be dissolving enough to the point where my CO2 indicator said it was good. I purchased another diffuser on Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0779QXBZJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and it has been fantastic, and I’ve actually been able to lower the bubble count because it diffuses it so well. The system is now perfect. I also did purchase the additional Solenoid and have had no issues with that.

I will update my review if anything changes 🙂

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersGreat kit from what I’ve seen so far. Solid build and good looking as well. From what I gather you get around 104g per full cylinder and you will spend around $1.50 tops in material to refill it. If done 3 times you get 312g spending a grand total of $4.50. Where as my last set up a Fluval cylinder is 95g and the 3 pack is $69.99 for 285g…makes too much sense to get one of these systems over those. Plus you get to use a solenoid on it.

I love this CO2 generator! I have multiple low tech planted tanks and wanted to dive into the world of high tech gear. This unit is an all-in-one. The steel canister, tubing, regulator, bubble counter, diffuser are all included; even comes with a plastic beaker and funnel for adding dry mixing agents. The only extra thing you will need to buy is the DC powered solenoid and a timer to fully automate the system and of course the mixing agents. Carbon dioxide made easy with the extra incentive of not needing to go find a place to exchange your tank when you are out of CO2.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI have this running for about a week now and this has made DIY co2 so simple and easy. I needed something to inject co2 into a newly built nano and fZone does this perfectly! It’s comes with everything you need to get co2 pumping minus the citric acid/sodium bicarbonate.
The design the sleek and modern and not tacky like when using 2l soda bottles.
The built is solid and I can tell this is built to last.

It does take few hours for the bottle to built up enough pressure when first setting up but no leaks and is working as intended.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our Users* Read the instructions clearly, I used citric acid 200 g with baking soda 220 g and 300 ml water, the reaction started with enough pressure built up for the next day. Already had the diffuser and co2 tubing that I already bought from Amazon

    Pros:
    * Solid aluminum cylinder with safety valve that is designed to open if the pressure builds up too high
    * The pressure gauge fits snug
    * Should have bought the one with solenoid valve, thought I could already use another one I had but that is not actually safer for this tank is what I figured
    Improvements :
The instructions could be a little more clearly written but some research beforehand should be good enough.
Could be better if they can combine the one with the solenoid valve as a single product without having to buy separate

if I push on the needle valve bubbles stop coming out if I gently pull on the needle valve enough bubbles to gas and kill fish in a 100 gallon come out. I’m not sure why it stops producing co2 atleast it’s not slowly adding more bubbles over the 3 hours, ordered a new needle valve from somewhere else hopefully it fits correctly

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersWorking great so far, my plants are growing like crazy. It would just be great if the directions were consistent. For something supposedly beginner friendly the fact that the listing instructions don’t match the (vague) instructions included with the tank is not great. It just means that you are going to be wasting materials if you use the wrong amounts.

I ended up googling the citric acid/baking soda ratio and it seems to be a 1:1 reaction. I understand that it may be difficult to change the included instructions, however it should at least state in the amazon listing that the instructions included are incorrect. If you use the included instructions it’s not the biggest deal, you will just be wasting 20g of whichever material you use 220g of.

Very pleased. I debated for a little while if to buy this product or the whole regulator, co2 canister etc… due to cost I chose this generator but even tho it was the cheaper option I feel I made the right choice. Quality is solid. Holds pressure well and does not fluctuate. No leakage at all as of day 3. I chose the non solenoid because I thought it would be the piece that would fail or leak. If I could go back I’d choose that option. All in all I’m very please with my purchase. Shipping was fast and arrived the 2 days a head of giving date which is another plus.

Golden Review Award: 26 From Our UsersI am very new to CO2 and I started with the Fluval 45g setup for my 40G tank. I quickly learned that the 45g was only enough to last maybe 5 days, if I only used it everyother day. I decided to upgrade and I ran across this setup and I was really surprised with the price, including the price for the selenoid. When I received it, the instructions were a little confusing but I finally figured it out. I added all of my ingredients and waited 24 hours to set it up in my tank and I am just amazed at how easy it was to set up. It worked perfectly.

I want to add. … The customer service was fantastic. The product I purchased 9 months ago had an older version regulator and I noticed the psi wasn’t getting above 5. When I investigated it, using soap and water, I realized that I had a small but significant leak along the seal (hence the red tape). I contacted their customer service through Amazon and they responded within 2 days. After sending them a photo, they immediately offered to send me a replacement regulator, for free and no questions asked. I couldn’t have asked for better customer support.

Great CO2 kit, great price, easy to install, with AMAZING customer support.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersAn excellent piece of equipment. Professionally made, well packaged, clear cut instructions, aesthetic look. And on top of that, it does generate CO2. I have no idea how long will last one charge for my 10 gallons planted aquarium. Still, for sure, I know it will last longer than my Fluval CO2 45g replacement cartridge, which one round is enough just for a week if I’m “economical” And 3x45g Fluval cartridge replacement cost around $45 for three weeks! Fluval, nothing against, but CO2 replacement is more expensive than gold. With this Co2 reactor, Good quality backing soda+ citric acid from Amazon under $30 will last by my estimates at least six months! It does take a few hours for the pressure to build in the reactor, and some 10 min work to measure and charge the reactor, but is an excellent kit in the absence of CO2 pressurized bottles, which require an exchange or refill to specialized stores. I choose not to have a solenoid installed because I do want to be in touch with my aquarium daily. Automation is not bad, but it takes from my interaction with my hobby.
