I am disabled so can’t use standard hoovers. This is just great to use as it’s lightweight but picks up everything including dog hairs and easy to empty and clean. Best thing I ever bought.
Wanted this for bedrooms which are hard floors and it is great for hair and fluff. Picks others stuff up too of course!
This is my second one of these. I bought this to replace my previous one which had become a little noisy and not as efficient ( it was over 10 years old !!) I use it for quickly sweeping up crumbs etc in my kitchen. I love it. I have used it on carpets in my lounge and it’s fine for picking up bits. I wouldn’t see it as a replacement for a vacuum cleaner. Would definitely recommend it for what I need it to do for me.
So much better than my shark sweeper that died on me. So glad I paid a bit more. Quite the best sweeper I have had.
I waited for one year before writing a review. This is an ultra light, easy to manoeuvre gadget. It is effective for everyday use and I do use it daily between weekly vacuuming. Has a good battery life (an hour or so for continuous use and the same for episodic use ) and charges in a few hours. Effective on large tiled areas and carpets. Love it!
The little hoover does have good suction but does feel flimsy particularly the drawer where you empty it from. I have only had it a short while so will have to see how long it lasts. Do like the fact it goes from hard floor to carpet easily. I don’t have stairs so can’t comment on how that works.
As always the gtech swiper dose the job have being using them for well over10yrs this is my second as the first one is now used for up stairs it’s a lot easyer than lugging a vacuum up the new one is as good for down stairs with 5 dogs its again helps to limit the lugging of vacuum about and since my arthritis as got worst they are a god send ,only thing is new one is noiseyer but with all the other benefits it offers I can put up with it ,it says 60 min use well on one charge I’ve managed to use it on two full carpeted rooms for 3 days which is marvelous and money saving with all that going for the new one what’s a little noise
This sweeper is so easy to use. We had a small problem in following assembly instructions, but received excellent advice from the service department.Good value for money
Well what can I say? Done expect the suction of a Gtech Hoover from a carpet sweeper but what this little beast can pick up is pretty amazing! The holding chamber is nearly full even when I can’t see anything visible on the floor! The little circular brush on the right is fab for doing the edges too.
Works well on both laminate/wood and carpets, but with carpets don’t expect as deep clean as you’d get from a proper hoover. It’s good for picking up crumbs and also does manage to pick up pet hairs too to a certain degree!
Totally and utterly impressed, not a waste of your well earned cash that’s for sure!
It does most of what it says but is perhaps a bit too light in weight which means it skims over hair on a hard floor but picks it up on the carpet. The suction is not as good as I expected but it is enough for my sewing room and the door mats. I am disappointed but not entirely surprised.
This sweeper is magic. It picks up everything, including a lot of dog hair. I even use it on sofas and armchairs.
There is nothing to dislike.
Fabulous little cleaning machine for smaller jobs and perfect weight for anyone who cannot heave around heavy vacuum cleaners. Easy to use, easy extraction of dirt in the special Gtec way and great manoeuvrability. I love it and shall no doubt also buy the Air ram for extra suction power. Perfect for those less able and not strong enough to carry around a bigger cleaner.
The sweeper is quite noisy ,rattles in use not its any better than the bissel sweeper which is much quieter and sweeps as good if not better and I think cheape
It’s light and easy to use, I use everyday, I have 2 dogs and so need to clean the hair on the carpets. I’m 72 and it saves me dragging out the Hoover, I got one for my daughter who does B&B it’s so quick to use round the bedrooms as it easily goes under the beds and down the stairs, she loves it and so do I. You do need to empty it after use so it cleans effectively, it’s easy to do.
For its price, this is doing the job really well. I love how it is so light and nifty. I use it mostly on carpets and have a small flat, so it’s perfect. The charge seems to last a long time and recharging it is easy. It arrived in a beautifully compact box and slotted together easily.
Recieved yesterday but today swept carpets and floor tiles. Easy to assemble, but take your time to get it right. No filters or bags so very easy to empty. I was amazed by the volume of hair, fluff and debris collected. I have back pain so this lightweight cleaner is a huge help. It is not a vacuum but the brush design is great and it works equally well on hard or soft floor. You can remove the handle for stairs, so much easier than my vacuum cleaner with stair tools. I even cleaned the boot floor of my car in a couple of minutes. Good battery charge, it took me 25 minutes to do the work. A relief that I don’t need to haul out my Bissel cleaner every time. It looks smart but it is made of a tough plastic but does not have the build quality of the more expensive vacuum cleaners. To be fair, it costs a fraction of the cost of the big brands.
Wow.
We were sceptical that when we ordered this it would be a Micky Mouse cleaner perhaps originally designed by Fisher Price or Triang. But oh no. It took just a few minutes to assemble, a few hours to properly charge up and we’ve used it for well over an hour vacuuming our house. Lightweight to use, almost like pushing a dolly’s pushchair! Easy to empty and when we slide open the dust collection tray we realise how mucky and hairy our house is! Good value for money and competent cleaner when you ponder that there are cleaners costing hundreds on the TV or in the papers. So far so good. Perhaps it will fail us after a year or two. We’ll see…….
Not really a powerful cleaner it’s an electrified carpet sweeper. Don’t like the rubber wheels wouldn’t like to use them on wooden floors as l think they would scuff. All in all its a useful every day crumb picker up
Fabulous product, have tufted carpets & woven excellent pick up on both….. haven’t tried stairs yet…. love sweeper being cordless & effortless to use …. weight wise light enough the sweeper does all the work…. marvellous: thank you
I bought one of these sweepers about eight years ago .Used it every day. Broke the handle off being careless. So bought another sweeper New model. but works the same. So pleased with it I purchased one for my daughter as she admired my new one. I vacuum clean the house once each week and use the cleaner daily.Grandchildren visit a lot so easy to pick up any bits on carpet or floor which they leave. So easy and lightweight to use.Ideal for elderly people>Picks up every speck on any type of floor. Runs for one hour on full charge. My old one only went for 30mins .
Just love it.
I was loaned a spare by my elderly nieghbour when I broke my elbow and loved it so much I got myself one and also one for my mother-in-law.
Just charge it , press the button and go. . Fabulous if you have pets . I can wizz. around in 5 minutes . Picks up all the cats hair and other bits . Really light weight. . For the person who said the suction is rubbish they obviously didn’t get the fact that it is a sweeper not a vacuum. But I love it for that. I now have a cleaner that comes every fortnight but this does the trick the rest of the time . So satisfying when I empty the collector! Works on carpet and hard floors and you can take off the long handle to use on the stairs.
This is the second sweeper we have had. It is a great product. However when putting it together the telescopic bit goes at the top and connects to the handle. The instructions in the manual don’t say this and it took me a while to work out why the thing wouldn’t stay on. The handle bit as far as I am concerned is the opposite way round to how you would expect.
ALl in all I think it is great especially for my elderly mother as it is light.
This has to be the best sweeper ever! It picks up everything first time and is light and easy to use. Cleaning stairs is a doddle as well as the bottom clicks off from the pole and handle so you’re only using the actual sweeper. Very easy to clean, empty and recharge. We have a cat who uses a litter tray and even my Dyson can’t pick up amount of litter she kicks out of her box on a regular basis. This is my second Gtech small sweeper and I would never think of using anything else. Wish I had bought a full size Gtech instead of my Dyson now – but we live and learn! Quick and efficient service from the seller as well. Thoroughly recommend.
I’m over the moon. I would buy another one tomorrow. It cleans as good as,if not better, than any standard Vac I have ever had. I love it and I can’t recommend it high enough.
So far this has been excellent for quickly tidying , lightweight and manoeuvrable, charges quickly. Still a relatively recent purchase so hope it will continue to function well
I used to have one of these a long time ago. This one makes much more noise, and seemed to be doing a lot less. I was wrong. I swept about half a room that had been hoovered two days ago. The dust collection box was full – not only with dust, loose fibres, my long hair, random bits dropped…!!!! It had also collected, without complaining, a complete fountain pen that it found under the chair!
I suffer from fatigue and was struggling even to use the lightweight Gtech AirRam. This can be lifted with one finger. It is extraordinary. So light. So easy to use. Such a saving in energy – both human and electricity. What a bargain. I am going to use it most days and do a bigger vacuuming once a week.
Wonderful machine! Got this for a birthday present. Picks up very well especially cat fur! Easy to put together and handle is long which is good as I am 5ft 11″. Delivery was very fast. Price slightly on the high side ( I have seen it much cheaper): all in all though, I am delighted with my sweeper which will make life easier for me, it’s very light. Thank you.
Odd how minds don’t always gel. I don’t clean the floors or hump the cleaner about but I saw my slightly built 5ft tall wife humping our cleaner up and down the stairs and decided to find something lighter and went with this. Usual great service from Lakeland but on the first test I got a use time far shorter than the claims for a full charge (despite following the instructions exactly). I was all for sending it back but when my wife said “let me use it for a while” I relented and afetr the first use she was raving about it. She was far less concerned about whether she got a full hours use out of each charge and much more concerned that it was so simple to use and weighed so little.
We charged it again and still it came up short on the use time against the claims but would she let me send it back, would she hell. So there you have it, the practical lady beating the pedantic male, it was ever thus.
It appears you can replace the batteries when they fail which they expect will happen every 500 charges but I suspect it may be sooner than that and Lakeland would undoubtedly do the honourable thing as they always do but I think I would have to wrestle it from my wife’s hot sweaty hands before it ever went back. So despite my better judgement I have been instructed to give it 5 stars!
Had reservations about this but bought it on the strength that my parents bought one when they first came out.
Delighted with it. It picks up all the cat fur from our new and thick pile carpet with ease. I use it alot as we have two long haired cats, hence the fur.
Great little sweeper and highly recommend i
This is the third one I have purchased, first for me, one for good friends and one for my daughter. Says it all, best thing ever invented. It’s light, efficient, folds neatly into a corner, easy to empty and does an excellent job. I have not plugged in my Dyson since I bought it and don’t need to keep a cleaner upstairs because it is so light to carry up. It’s the one item in the house I couldn’t live without.
Updated Review:
After the first one I ordered for my 86 year old mother broke within 5 mins of light use (one then the other wheel fell off), I was critical of the product, and Amazon said the Lakeland would contact me directly.
I rang them directly and also received a phone call and email from them.
A replacement was shipped with a promised delivery within 7 days i think, but it arrived in only 2 working days.
Besides the stiffness of the dust draw removal, my mother is now very happy with it I am pleased to say.
When it arrived I thought the parcel was so light, it just could’nt be any use. But when I used it a different story!!!
I have all hard floors in my bungalow and rugs I also have a dog the reason for my purchase. It brought the pile up
on the rugs and I could’nt believe the hairs it collected out of 1 rug. On the floors it’s o.k. but does not get into the corners,
so thats a vacuum cleaner job.
Really good for every day but don’t ditch the vacuum.
I was very surprised at the size of the box when it arrived but after assembling it was please with the finished result. Looks the business but feels a little plasticy. However that said it works very well, and for the cost it really is quite a find. It was quite difficult to pull out the dust tray at first but it became easier with use.
It’s as good any sweeper that I ever owned and as the advertising says, it performs equally well on hard flooring or on carpet. The only snag I have come across, and one stopping me giving it a 5 star rating, is that the dust tray is of a very tight fit and as I suffer from arthritic problems in my hands then I struggle to slide it out from the sweeper body. Anyone else should manage fine with it and minor problems like this are often upgraded with next-generation models and I hope that Gtech take my comments on board.
Bought this for my busy family Restaurant, for cleaning up in the day when a hoover is too loud and bulky. Gets in corners really well and does a great job on thick carpet. We use this pretty much every day, and as my team look after it well it has done really well. We have had to buy a new stick for it, and are considering buying a new brush soon, as after 7 months of use every day use parts have started to wear, however parts from G-Tech were cheap and came the next day. It is quiet, hard working and as long as it is looked after will do a brilliant job, I honestly don’t know how we did without one before.
I have been using this product for a few days now and am pleased with it in general. I should have thought more before buying as it is good at removing pet hairs and surface dirt but cannot suck up grit and worked in dirt. Also I find the dust tray quite hard to remove, so not good of you have arthritic hands. I wish I had waited a couple of weeks and spent more money on the GTECH vacuum cleaner which I shall probably buy in the fairly near future. I still have to vacuum the carpets in between sweeping so now have 2 cleaners to store! If you want a lightweight and efficient carpet sweeper this is for you.
When putting it together it seems a bit frail and I was frightened of it breaking as I fit the handle to the cleaner but it is okay. Charged it up for specified time and it goes like a dream. The Dyson as not been out since this machine arrived. Would I advise anyone else to get one?, I certainly would. Light as a feather and works like a elephant.
Bought to replace a much loved, but very much more expensive cordless Dyson. The Gtech floor sweeper is a great little item and is so light to use. The suction is acceptable (not a patch on the Dyson – but then is about an 1/8th of the price…) and is quite capable of cleaning up dropped crumbs and pet hair from a hard kitchen floor. It struggles a little on carpets and rugs, but then I have bought it primarily for use in the kitchen to clear up after two young children and two furball cats – and for this, it works perfectly well and does a good job. Light weight, easy to operate, affordable, and sweeps up fine.
Really handy sweeper. It folds away neatly so a narrow profile so it fits into tight spaces for storage. We use this daily for quickly picking up any debris in the kitchen and hallway. A full charge lasts approximately for a week (around 25-30 mins). Its pretty impressive on how much it can pick up but the only thing that lets it down (slightly) is that it cant get too close to edges and corners.
We’ve been using this sweeper for 4 months and I think it is time to share our experience:
The Positives:
1) It very light weight – easy to manoeuvre around.
2) Low energy consumption.
3) It is cordless, which makes it convenient to sweep every parts of the house, including areas with no sockets close by.
The Negative:
1) It is not very powerful.
2) It doesn’t hold charge for long (ours works for less than 30 minutes after charging all day).
Overall, I would recommend this sweeper, particularly if your floor doesn’t need a lot of power to sweep.
GREAT PRODUCT – INCREDIBLY LIGHTWEIGHT, MANOEUVRABLE, GOOD BATTERY LIFE, EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE – FOR EVERYDAY CLEANING THIS IS THE PERFECT SUBSTITUTE FOR A HEAVY & CUMBERSOME VACUUM CLEANER – MY ELDERLY FATHER WHO SUFFERS WITH RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS IS DELIGHTED WITH IT – HE’LL STILL USE THE VACUUM EVERY SO OFTEN BUT THIS MAKES DAILY CLEAN-UPS SO MUCH EASIER – HE DECLARED IT ‘BRILLIANT!’
Brilliant little sweeper. Remember, this is not a vacuum cleaner. It’s an electric carpet sweeper. Take it for what it is and it’s great. Sweep away everyday fluff and stuff (have no pets but sock fluff is the bane of my life) light and easy. Only need to get out the cumbersome hoover once a week, mostly so I can do the edges and the corners with the attachments if I’m honest. I have pale carpets both upstairs and down (I know, not sure what posessed me) but now it’s not a constant chore to keep them looking nice. Have read a few reviews where parts have failed or broken but this one seems to be holding its own. Very happy.
I first spotted one of these at my gym and was so impressed that I bought one for myself. I don’t know now what I ever did without it. It sits in a corner of my kitchen out of sight and if I drop anything on the floor, I can have it swept up in the blink of an eye. No messing around unravelling meters and meters of electric cable, moving the plug from socket to socket and hauling round a ten-tonne weight. We have wooden floors throughout the downstairs of our property and it is very effective at picking up pretty much everything – dust, food and dog hairs, small stones, coffee grinds, you name it. It also works well on carpet and a quite shaggy rug. It’s easy to empty, holds a charge very well, manoeuvres well, sweeps right up to the skirting board and lasts for ages before needing to be recharged. I like it so much I bought my mother one.
I ordered this for my mum to use (she’d been finding lugging a traditional vacuum up and down stairs a bit challenging). I had initially been tempted by the Gtech Air Ram – on the strength of the product description, Press and customer reviews – but my dad objected to the price. This seemed like the ideal compromise.
My initial impressions of this weren’t entirely favourable. The sweeper arrives partially assembled in a box smaller than that of many a netbook: which was a little disconcerting. In addition, the Gtech Sweeper (in particular the three-part handle) is somewhat flimsy feeling. It’s so very light and easy to put together that I found myself questioning whether this would work/last at all.
I needn’t have worried. Once I (and then my parents) got past our initial preconceptions of what to expect in a rechargeable carpet sweeper, we discovered that this is certainly sufficiently robust for everyday home use AND surprisingly powerful. The GTech Sweeper does a great job of cleaning up pet hair: my parents’ Black and Tan dachshund and cream carpet are not an enviable combination, but it’s so easy to whip round with this that the dog hair situation is kept under reasonable control! An unexpected positive was that this arrived with some initial charge, so the sweeper could be tested straight away.
It’s not all plain sailing: because this has a rotating sweeper brush at the front long hair and other lengthier threads if caught tend to wrap around the rotating brush section and get stuck (ultimately requiring liberation via scissors). The collection drawer is quite small and requires frequent emptying. However, these are minor issues when taken against how nice, light, easy to use and effective this is at the price point.
Would I buy it again? Possibly not, but only because this has proven to be such a nice, neat simple device to use. Instead, I’d give serious consideration to buying its enhanced-feature sibling, the GTech Air Ram.
And my dad, who wasn’t prepared to consider buying the Air Ram… has since had me buy him a GTech cordless strimmer, having gained so much respect for the brand!
I bought my Gtech sweeper 3 weeks ago and I wished I had bought it long ago, I suffer with arthritis and struggle with any vacuum, it is so light you can pick it up with one finger, at first I thought this is too light to pick anything up, especially pet hair ( I have a black cat ) but when I looked into the dust tray I was amazed it was full of black cat hair. It picks up what you can’t see, I have recommended it to my family and friends and my Mom who is 82 and has osteo-porosis bought one and she loves it.
I would recommend the Gtech sweeper to anyone with disability problems as it is so easy to use and the dust tray is easy to empty.
I love it !!!!
We were given an older Gtech and found it worked well, so dicided to buy it bigger brother. What a difference , it acts more like a vaccum cleaner you’ll be amazed with how much it picks up. It’s light and protable which makes it very easy to handle.
and the battery lasts.
ps we bought a replacement battery for the older 5v version. this now sit’s upstairs and in daily ues
Absolutely fabulous. I have arthritis and am recovering from cancer so cleaning is not only difficult but also fairly low down on my “to do” list. This enables me to keep my house looking emaculate until it gets a big vacuum every two weeks. I do empty it every time it is used but this is because I have a husky, probably needs doing less frequently if you keep a smaller pet or one with less hair! Wholeheartedly recommend it.
I bought this on my sister’s recommendation. I think it is a really useful item to have around. Only have to charge it up once a week and it works on keeping the room fairly clean. I don’t think it’s powerful enough to use as the main vacuum cleaner, but it’s far more handy than having to keep getting the Dyson out and plugged in every day. We have 2 large greyhounds and it picks up their hair from the rug easy enough.
This is a great little cleaner, extremely light, easy to use, not too noisy, does both carpets & wooden floors. Upon arrival it was easy to assemble & was even partly charged so could try it out straight away. It’s also good as a small hand held cleaner for the stairs when the telescopic handle is removed. I would definitely recommend this & it’s a nice price too.
I purchased this after using an obsolete version for some years (SW05). The G-Tech customer service was excellent (thanks Trish) so I decided to treat myself to this modern version.
I must say I am impressed by the rapid delivery of the item and can only repeat what is being said by the great majority of reviewers in that it is a most effective device.
When you unpack it note that the charger and the sweeper/handle union are in the dust tray of the sweeper. Remove them before you get into a rage about missing bits. When assembling take note of the instruction leaflet and lightly join the handle sections before giving them a final shove together. Charge it up and then you ready to stand up your carpet pile.
Enjoy.
The sweeper is very good cleaning carpets and hard floors equally well. It is great to use in-between vacuuming days. However, I do not like the collection box. The fluff and dirt does get into the housing as well as the box. I have to clean it out after every use.
Rating: 4.5
These are a great sweeper, over the years we have bought four these, and apart from one of them, they are still going strong today. They are amazingly light and they clear away a lot debris from the floor, the item is small and very easy to store away. Your GTECH will arrive in fairly small box – but they are very easy to set up. I have seen these being used in large offices as well as department stores. I would recommend them without hesitation.
The main reason I purchased this product was to enable me to quickly and easily hoover up my cats litter after he had been using it. The litter also has a knack of getting into his paws so I would get a long trail of litter across the room. Using my main hoover every time to hoover the litter up was becoming ridiculous.
After reading all the reviews I decided to go for the GTECH Cordless Sweeper 7.2v NiMH SW02, it come next day and even had charge already in it.
The unit comes in a really small box and is so easy to put together within seconds.
Some people have mentioned that the sweeper is noisy, well I don’t think it’s that bad, it’s certainly way quieter than my heavy duty hoover.
As to the performance, it certainly does a great job of hoovering up the litter, it’s very little and very manoeuvrable. I can quickly hoover all the upstairs carpets to a good standard in a few minutes and the charge seems to last well. I have only just recharged the unit after 2 weeks of quick use.
Quality seems to have gone down a bit since we bought this product a couple of years ago. But the sweeper does a reasonable job of picking up crumbs etc. when people have left our Reception room. Obviously does not replace a vacuum cleaner and shouldn’t be expected to. Will see whether the batteries continue to be rechargeable longer than the two we had before…
Any vacuum cleaner is only as good as your motivation to use it – and in my case, vacuuming is a job I can very happily overlook. At least this used to be the case until I bought this little GTECH sweeper…
We have a very efficient ‘Henry’ vacuum cleaner which does an excellent job – or it would if I could be bothered to lug it around the house, plug it in, vac a room, lug it to the next, plug it in etc. The reality is that using a conventional vacuum cleaner is a tedious chore and it can take a couple of hours to vac the house. This Gtech has happily put an end to all that.
I keep it in the hall, charge it after each use and then it’s always ready to do a quick sweep up. I can do the entire house in 10-15 minutes and it’s easy. The sweeper is lightweight so no need to lug it around and, best of all, it’s rechargeable so I can use it anywhere, including outside in my motorhome. It might not be quite as effective as industrial-Henry but it picks up fresh fluff from our carpets daily – in fact, it actually picks up so much that I wonder where exactly it has all come from. It’s quick and easy to use, sucks up a surprising (and rather shocking!) amount of dust, hair, fluff, crumbs, grit etc and is a doddle to empty via its slide-out dust tray.
Stairs can be a bit more tricky but I just run it along the length of each step, backwards and forwards – it’s a bit awkward but it does the job. Because it doesn’t have any accessories, it isn’t going to vac upholstery, chairs, curtains or cobwebs off the walls nor will it get into a few very tight spaces reached only via a hose but there has to be a compromise somewhere. The compromise here is that the house is now vacuumed almost daily instead of monthly (at best), the carpets always have that ‘just vac’d’ appearance and vacuuming is no longer a chore.
The design is its best feature – keeping the brush roller and dustpan close together, means it doesn’t need to be a high-powered beast – the dust only has to be swept a few centimetres rather than sucked along a tube and upwards into a higher dustbag. My only quibble is the swivel fitting to the rear of the dustpan. It’s made from plastic, is put under some strain in use, particularly when the sweeper is dragged sideways across a floor, and I fear it might break at some point. I note that replacement parts are readily available – good to know they’re there if needed; not so good to suspect they might be regularly sold.
Minor quibbles aside, I would have no hesitation in buying the same again and if hibernated-Henry ever fails then I’d replace him with the high-power Gtech Air-Ram sweeper rather than another plug-in, lug-around vac. For now, however, I am very happy with my SW02.
Update: May 2020: the drive belt stretched and needed replacement. Alas, the sweeper has since been updated by GTech and now uses a larger belt which doesn’t fit its predecessor. Disappointing but after years of excellent service I happily bought the newer version of the SW02 and would still happily recommend it.
I LOVE this little beauty. As a lifelong vacuum phobic this is such a pleasure to use. With two big dogs bringing in mess from outside, it’s a moment’s trouble to sweep it up and it works great on carpet. In fact, I’d go as far as to say, it’s actually rather enjoyable, as far as it goes, to open the little drawer to empty it and marvel at the amount of dust, grit, dog hair etc gets deposited and it manages to sweep up on a daily basis.
I still have a vacuum cleaner for going round the edges mainly and things you need a good strong vacuum for rather than just the sweeper which doesn’t have vacuum suction, just a rapidly turning brush, but 90% of the time this is quite adequate for me. Battery wise no comments really as I’ve never had it run out before recharging, so I guess it’s pretty good.
I gave one to my mum as well and she and her partner love it. He sweeps woody bits up from in front of the wood burner and enjoys that he can dump the sweepings straight back into it to be burnt.
If you hate hoovering, plugging it in and lugging it around up stairs etc, then you will like this. Did I mention, it also makes doing the stairs carpet an absolute piece of cake?
I am a Dyson user, bought mine over to France from the UK when I moved here. But I now have floors which are solid wood or stone, with rugs on them. And my cleaning needs have changed. When my Dyson died on Christmas Eve, I decided to look at alternative cleaning methods. The GTECH Cordless Sweeper 7.2v seemed on paper to tick all the boxes. Read both positive and adverse and ordered one. It only took 3 days to arrive – fantastic. Charged it up and this morning swept through the house. It has lifted dog hair, cat fur, bits and also fluff. I have never seen so much stuff being moved effortlessly and it’s really light and very quiet to use. I used it for over 30 minutes and it still had charge left in it. Absolutely thrilled with it, just what I needed. And the delivery service was amazing.
I was hoping to find a simple electric sweeper but this one was better than anticipated.
The battery does last long enough for you to clean major rooms of the house.
It’s brush handles very well moving from hard floor to carpet and you can remove the front protection which allows to clean stairs very easily.
Only thing I find can be improved is removal of the telescopic handle.
Like I said, very good to do those fast cleaning duties of every day.
I do recommend this one.
i have dogs and have spent thousands over the years trying to get a good vac. ive had all the usual makes including orek, but none have really been suitable for me. either to cumbersome, to heavy. or left a lot behind after hoovering.
the gtech does everything it claims and is excellent at picking up dog hairs. i have mainly wooden floors and only a small amount of carpet in the hall which i didnt really expect it to pick dog hairs up from, but it looked better afterwards than the other vacs i have used on it.(cant speak for what its like on a fully carpeted place) but for me it works.
its a fantastic machine for disabled people that have limited mobility, its very light and easy to use and YOU CAN GO THROUGH EVERY ROOM WITHOUT HAVING TO BEND DOWN AND STRUGGLE WITH PLUGS, AND ITS SO EASY TO EMPTY.
i was very dubious about it at first and very nearly didnt buy one, but i love it, and its given me that much more independence as i no longer have to rely on others to do the hoovering
I give it a 10. Lightweight, easy to use and an absolute joy. I confess, didn’t wait for it to charge, used it straight out of the box and was amazed at how much fluff and dog hair it picked up. So simple and light, my 5 year old great niece had fun helping me sweep up after Sunday dinner, another added bonus. The amount of dog hair from the carpet upstairs was incredible, given I had just given it the once over with the very heavy cleaner beginning with a V…
Works great on hard floors and carpets, but probably not so great on a longer pile carpet.
Buying another one for upstairs. At this price, why not?
I have pedigree cats who live indoors and I use this to pick up cat litter they drag down the stairs sticking to the carpet. I love it, it last for ages on a charge. Its light and easy to empty, picks up really well ! I have had if for a couple of years with no issues. Would get another if anything happened to this one. Well recommended
I bought this little sweeper from home and garden through amazon what a great product, it arrived long before the due date i couldn’t believe how quick, really pleased, it came in a small box and you had four parts of the handle you have to assemble yourself it would be tricky for the elderly with arthritis or other hand problems but if you can get someone to do it it is great ,once put together I tried it it came already charged it was brilliant it picked up everything dog hairs dog biscuit crumbs mud and everyday mess you can even take the guard of the front to sweep your stairs it’s very light weight and you don’t have to lift it to sweep as it’s got a swivel head it’s great for young and old,but if you have any problems with disability or you’ve had an operation and can do only light duties this is the product brilliant you will not be dissapointed 5 star all round from ordering to delivering
This item had been recommended to me but I did not realize what a good product it was!! After charging it, I used it immediately and was struck by how light it was and how easy to use, yet so effective in picking up bits off the carpet. I would recommend it to anyone who doesn`t want the weight of a heavy hoover and also for its ease to carry from one room to another. Excellent product!
Had a new carpet and didn’t want to suck up all the pile by using a vacuum too often. This little sweeper gets up crumbs, bits of cotton, flower petals and surface dust. It is Very easy to use and lightweight. Being cordless and re-chargeable means no stopping to unplug to move from room to room. My husband was so impressed he had one for his shop. My 6 year old grandson loves cleaning for grandma. Good move yes?
Great little lightweight sweeper. Bought this to replace my 3 year old SW02 after I dropped it and broke the end plate. I first tried obtaining a service kit from Gtech to resurrect my old machine. The kit i was assured contained the end plate i needed. Nothing arrived after three weeks. I rang the Gtech helpline and I must say they were very apologetic and assured me another would be sent out that very day. Another three weeks passed and nothing. Repeat step two, another three weeks and still nothing. At this point I gave up on Gtech and ordered a full replacement which duly arrived within three days. Although good, the styling and quality of the handle on the replacement is inferior to the original and not interchangeable. The charger connection too is different but in this case superior to the original.
Footnote: Nearly 4 months later, a parcel arrives, my Gtech service kit! Two days after that another one arrives, neither containing the end plate I required!
I cannot buy a decent sweeper in Italy so ordered this one from the UK as all my British friends have them and rave about them. I was not disappointed.I can sweep all the terracotta, tile and wooden floors in the three story house in one session. No more using a broom and pan. I have no idea why I cannot buy one in Italy as all my neighbours want one now.
Got this on a recommendation from a family member, wasn’t sure which model to go for, opted for this one as it was a very reasonable price. I have a small flat which has mostly laminate flooring and one carpeted room (the bedroom), so was looking for something to work on both floor types which was easy to use, didn’t take up much storage and most importantly, did the job effectively. This fits the bill perfectly. On first use on the carpeted room, I was amazed – it picked up brilliantly, but halfway round the room appeared to be throwing some fluff back out. I was a bit worried, until I realised this was only because it had collected SO MUCH dirt already and the tray just needed emptying! Once the tray was emptied and re-inserted, the GTECH went back to work as normal. (Note: my carpet is not a thick shag-pile, but standard pile).
The dirt collector tray is very easy to remove from the sweeper (it just slides out of the side) and quickly empty in the bin, and I find it kind of satisfying to see just how much this little beauty is picking up! It took two empties before the room was done – so this is worth noting if you are going to mind having to empty the tray regularly (it is a small tray, suited to the small size of the GTECH itself) – I don’t mind this, and if I use it regularly as I expect to, hopefully the dust / dirt build up won’t be so great next time (bit gross I know, sorry!)
On laminate floors it is great as well – very easy to use for a quick run round, and easy to manoeuvre around and under furniture.
I charged fully for 16 hours before using, and will take a previous reviewer’s great advice to try to let it fully discharge each time before charging up to capacity again, to extend the battery life.
There are bucket loads of reviews about this sweeper, so mine will only add to everyone else’s that loves it.
When there are crumbs an ‘bits’ here and there on both hard and carpeted floor and you can’t be bothered to dig out the Dyson,, (although they’re brilliant), just reach for this little gizmo, whizz it round for a couple of minutes and the job’s done. Every house should have one.
One word of warning though, is: fully charge and then fully discharge the battery if you want it to last for years. That way, you’ll avoid the ‘short memory syndrome’ which all Ni-Cad and NiMh battery packs suffer from. DON’T keep topping it up with the charger, or you will shorten the battery life by 400%!
I have Ni-Cads and NiMh batteries that are 10 years old and still functioning fine, but only because I fully cycle them from full charge to almost dead and then fully re-charge without interuption and without over-charging.
very good for all surfaces including deep pile carpet,it picks up crumbs and fluff,ok it does not beat your carpet like a heavy weight sweeper but it leaves a good finish on heavy carpet.Due to having a stroke some years earlier i could not use our heavier cleaner but i can use the GTECH no problem have had it for 3 months now we love it.It is well made and such a clever but simple thing to put together and even easier to use no dusty old bags to empty into the bin and if you pick up something you want to see the dust tray just pulls out for a quick look.I would and have recommended it to friends and family
I first came across the GTECH Cordless Sweeper
when I was helping an elderly friend who had
just undergone a hip replacement operation and
she required a bit of help with daily chores
around the home, I used it to sweep her living
room carpet and was pleasantly surprised at the
results. She has now stated that the GTECH is
easy for her to use, now that she is more active
and doing her own cleaning again, helping her
feel independent.
After buying my own, I find that it works well
on my carpet-tile areas, and on the hard vinyl
kitchen floor. Although only approaching 67 I do
find this GTECH sweeper a lot easier to manoeuvre
than my Sebo Vacuum Cleaner, which I still use
about once per week, but if you just want to have
a quick tidy up and sweep the carpet, I find the
GTECH a boon. Light to carry with a handle that
extends so that taller people do not have to stoop
it is fine. Some reviewers have said that it is no
good on heavy shag-pile carpets, but it definitely
picks up the fluff that I cannot see on my carpet
tiles.
The dust tray always has enough debris in it, to
justify the purchase, and is easily emptied.
Wish I had known about this product much earlier.
For my purposes it was a worthwhile purchase.
Recommended.
My second Roomba has just died, and they want 145 to repair it. So I thought I’d give this little gadget a go. And it’s *wonderful*.
I just whipped through living/dining room and kitchen in under 10 minutes, and didn’t have to tidy away cables, or pick up the cat toys scattered about the place, or box off the rocking chair (which always upset the Roomba),, so it probably took less time in total than the Roomba.
We have four cats and a woodburning stove, so there is always lots to clean up, and this did a great job. No more carting the Dyson up and down stairs either. Yes, it is a little noisy, but it’s going to be remarkably cheap to run and it’s very efficient – highly recommended.
Thiis my second purchase of this model GTECH. I bought it for a good friend who was casting decidly covetous eyes on mine! It is not good on hard floors, it does not have any means of seeing time of charging and the price has gone up by about 15. Why did I buy it? Why have I given it 5 stars? Because it is absolutely brilliant on carpets and rugs. It is lightweight, easy to use and easy to empty. I have lots of longish hair which moults to rival any dog – this little machine gets this up without the bother I have experienced over the years with other machines. When I swipe it round quickly on a floor that doesn’t look dirty I am amazed by how much it has collected. For those of you who like a clean house but loathe housework…I recommend this as a Christmas present to yourself.
… this was a great purchase! I, to be honest, am sick of using a dustpan and brush or sweeping brush constantly and I can’t be bothered with wrestling with a hoover in my dimentionally-challenged house – I really wanted something to replace these things and I found it in this sweeper! It is so light and easy to use.. it just glides across the floors and picks up all debris in it’s path effortlessly. The only thing is that it doesn’t entirely get into the right wee corner or flush along the skirting boards, but it’s definitely good enough and not a put-off. I kept a dustpan and brush and I use it weekly to spruce things up properly, but this is only required now and again to achieve a perfect finish. The charging isn’t inconvinient whatsoever and it seems to last quite a while! Overall, this was a great buy and I’m delighted with the purchase.. I also use the vax S2 steam cleaner and my floors have never looked so great!
I bought this sweeper in August 2010 and use it almost daily. It’s absolutely great for dog hairs! The battery has proved to be long lasting, I probably charge it up about once a week – not an inconvenience. We inherited dark green carpets with this house which show all the bits, so it’s very handy for a quick ‘run round’ before visitors and is also easy to use on the stairs (my least favourite job) which saves lugging the main vacuum cleaner out every time. I’ve recommended it to friends and they’ve been equally pleased.
I have never been a big fan of vacuuming (who is?!) so anything that means I vacuum less often gets my vote!
I bought this originally because I saw a friend using one- I didn’t even know electric sweepers like this existed!
The plus point are:
It is lightweight (I can easily dangle it on my little finger and I am a small woman)
it is cordless in use so is easily transported between floors
it picks up loads, even dog hair when I have looked after my sister’s ever moulting pooch.
I am always amazed at the volume of dust and debris it collects in its little tray! As an experiment I only used the sweeper for a month and I then used the Dyson, expecting the Dyson to fill up with dust the sweeper has missed, but no, it hardly picked up anything extra, just round the edges where the sweeper can’t reach, although it does have a spinning edge brush this is only on one side of the sweeper so there are some limitations.
The sweeper bends round corners and flattens so it can clean under my bed/drawers etc
It is so convenient I use it several times a day usually (whereas I only used to vacuum a couple of times a week as the Dyson is so cumbersome) and now only use the Dyson when the edges need a really good going over approximately fortnightly. I have a cordless hand held Dyson to supplement my sweeper too.
Downsides are:
Not great for stairs (use my hand held Dyson) or edges
Sometimes dust spits out but maybe this is when full up or when I tilt it incorrectly
Light doesn’t tell you when fully charged
Despite some negatives , it is worth every penny to me as saves me so much time so I give it 5 stars and a big thumbs up!
I bought two of these in rapid succession based on a recommendation from a distance relative. I assembled them (very easy) and gave one to my wife and one to my mother (for birthdays). Although I was initially tempted by a special direct price offer by Gtech, I eventually bought both via Amazon as slightly cheaper and quicker delivery.
Both my mother and my wife had previously complained about the weight of their normal vacuum cleaners (one has a Hoover upright and one a Henry) so both were amazed at the low weight of the GTech !
Even so, both were still sceptical about the likely dirt pick-up and both were nervous about the fact that no bags and that the dust collection is in an easy to remove tray.
However, after using one, both were amazed at how much was picked up by the GTech (even after previously using the Hoover upright) and both are happy about the ease of emptying. So both are completely sold on GTechs and both have now recommended it to their friends.
So overall, we can’t really fault this piece of equipment other than expressing our disappointment that although designed in the UK, it is manufactured in China ! Pity not made here too !
I have had one of these battery powered sweepers for about a month now and I have found it excellent. When I first had it the battery ran down very quickly, but after several long charges it lasted a bit longer each time and now I can run it round my flat 3 times before it needs charging again.
Even though it is only a sweeper it is amazing what it picks up, especially when you have a furry pet!! I have used it on all my carpets and in the kitchen and bathroom and on my furniture and it has never failed to impress. It is very light and compact. Not having to trail a wire around with you makes the job so much easier and quicker, and it leaves the carpets looking fresh. I have even used it on my small astro-turf lawn and it picks up all the bits that have fallen off the trees and leaves the lawn looking good. Amazing!!
It’s only minor draw back is that sometimes some of the fluff collects in the space above the brush and needs to be cleaned out, but in most cases the majority of what it picks up ends up in the tray which is very easy to pull out and empty.
The instructions say that it should be charged for at least 16 hours and not more than 16 hours. This is a bit rigid and I guess few people keep to it. I always run it down before I charge it again as in the past with other equipment I have found battery life lasts longer when you do this. The instructions do not really make it clear what charging routine you should take. Three times round my flat runs the battery right down and then I leave it on a long charge overnight and it is ready for another three days . So far this has been fine.. I would recommend this machine and may even get a second one. This will mean I always have one charged up.

I love my little GTECH sweeper, its so light and easy to grab when you want to just spruce the place up quickly, for instance when someone phones to say they’re on their way over! It does pick up my cat’s fur too which I’m pleased about, although this takes a few tries sometimes as the sweeper makes it fly away a bit. I also love to take the handle off and use it on the stairs carpet where you get that just brushed look. The only negatives I find are that I often have to unravel my hair from the brushes as it stops it picking up as well, and its quite noisy!
I bought the GTech SW02 as a friend of mine had a similar model and she raved about how useful it was. I have a Henry for main duty vacuuming, but I was finding it too heavy and too much work to get it out for the odd little bit of dried mud etc. I also wanted a lightweight solution for upstairs. It is so light and easy to use – I’m never out of breath after having used it, even on the stairs. I think it is a brilliant addition to your regular vacuum cleaner and can’t recommend it highly enough. It is also really easy to empty, but you need to be a bit careful taking the guard off the front to do the stairs. My only issue was with the delivery people, who just lobbed it over the side gate, so I was pleased to find out the rough treatment hadn’t done it any damage!
The G-Tech Cordless Sweeper 7.2v NiMH SW02 is a lovely little carpet-sweeper, which holds its charge extremely well.
I like it particularly since it weighs so little and is correspondingly easy to manoeuvre. As the handle allows a slight swivel action and the sweeper-head is low-built, the machine is surprisingly versatile. It is also very easy to empty.
I am delighted with this purchase and can recommend it highly.
I used to have a sweeper of another type and when it broke, I decided to get a Gtech as my friend has one and is thrilled with it. So am I. I does exactly what I want -picks up pet hairs and all the bits carpets collect, goes right up to the edge (on one side only though) and is easy to empty and store.
Took a few days to get to grips with turning the handle for storage and I wish the charging light changed colour when fully charged, but apart from those small niggles, it is just what I wanted and I can highly recommend this product.
One thing -anyone buying one, be sure to get the stronger voltage item as you need the power to pick up properly. Mine is 7.2v and I know there is a model that is weaker. Get the strongest one!
My husband had seen these sweepers on a late night TV channel and was so impressed he wanted one. I was a little more sceptical. However I decided to give one a try and ordered this, which was the next model up to the one on TV.
To put it mildly I am flabbergasted at just how efficient this little sweeper is! We use an Oreck normally, and that is fantastic, but it is also on the expensive side at +400. I wasn’t expecting miracles, but even now 10 days after receiving it, I am still pleasantly surprised each day when I go to empty after sweeping the whole of downstairs in one go – that is – large hall, living room, downstairs cloak, dining room, kitchen, back porch and hall and utiliity room at how much it picks up without using any suction! We have a cat and a dog and the amount of animal hair it picks up is amazing. Would I recommend this sweeper? A resounding yes! I now only use my Oreck about once a week, and I really don’t think that it is any better at picking up animal hairs. My husband does the stairs – two full flights and two large landings and he will only use this now as it is so light and easy to use.
his is a very good sweeper, it is very powerful and cleans well. I bought it to replace a red earlier model, it is noisier than the old one but works much better. I had to contact the manufactures as part of the metal handle section was damaged but I just had to send them a copy of my receipt and they sent a replacement. I do a lot less hoovering now as it cleans so well and helps me to keep my floors cleaner. it is portable as the handle is telescopic and it is very lightweight and easy to use. I would recommend this sweeper.
I really wanted to adore this cleaner after all the positive reviews, but for all it’s greatness it has one annoying feature.
First the great points: It is very light, good build quality, so far excellent charge capacity, brilliant at picking up solid bits on laminate floors and carpets alike, small spinning corner brush for getting right up against skirting boards, easy removal tray. Makes mincemeat of picking up rice crispies and cheerios off floor after kids breakfast.
Annoying point – reluctance to pick up small fluff on laminate floors. It works great on carpets I think because theres more friction between the fluff, carpet and brushes.
Note to designers for future models to make this a truly outstanding product – charge led changes colour to signify full charge, charge socket moved to handle area, charge plug changed to simple round jack plug (no need to be shaped for one way only), rotating brush redesigned to incorporate channels or fins to produce a slight vaccum to aid light fluff suction. It would then be worth five stars.
This sweeper has made my life so much easier. I have trouble with a regular hoover due to health probelms. However with the GTECH I can sweep when ever I like because it is extremely light but very durable. The GTECH is a keen dust catcher it has great suction and an easy to empty tray. It works just as well on tiled floors, laminate and carpet. It was good value for money. I can’t praise it enough. Even my husband aproves of its ease of use!
Brilliant piece of equipment. Does an excellent job of keeping both carpets and hard flooring clean. Not as powerful and heavy as a big vacuum-cleaner but for interim cleaning…. just the job! Very light to carry around. The only thing to be careful of is that when lifting it from the floor, make sure the handle is in a vertical (Straight up) position. This machine is a little treasure, I wish I had bought one before now. I have a very house-proud sister-in-law who says she wouldn’t be without it. It picks up EVERYTHING in it’s wake!!!!
Just to confirm how much I like this very useful sweeper, I have just purchased a second one as a christmas present for another member of my family.
It does its job very well, picks up ok and will fit under most low furniture and very easy to empty. I recharge this sweeper about once a week, but I suppose it depends on how much you use it. I , like a lot of our older generation, suffer poly arthritis, having this light and handy sweeper saves all the energy and effort in getting out the BIG VAC . Does what it say`s…..
Don’t judge a book by it’s cover ? Maybe, we should.
The first thing that’s gonna floor you is the packing.
The box, style and quality is truly exceptional.
My netbook didn’t come with such good packing.
Anyways, One of the most irritating thing with vacs are the cables.
I’ve an morphy richard one. It’s quite good. The only problem is I’m lazy.
Getting it out of closet, plugging into and then managing the cables!!!.
I lose my interest just thinking about it.
Read some good reviews about this sweeper and bought this.
The good thing about this is, it’s compact and extremely mobile.
For a lazy guy like me, it’s just plug and play. Well, actually, “no plug, just play”.
I shed more hairs than a dog 😀
Parked the sweeper right in the bathroom where It picks up the hairs nice and easy.
Does a decent job on the carpet. The only thing I miss is an handheld “sucker”. heheheh.
Wish the designer could find a small portable handheld attachment. But even without, it’s
an excellent sweeper. Perfect. Couldn’t be any happier.
Having had a very painful back problem for the past year which makes vacuuming nothing short of torture, but being burdened with a dark green carpet which shows absolutely every little speck and fleck, I’ve been looking for something to help me keep tyhe house clean. It’s early days, but after trying it out I’m impressed with this.
1: It arrived within 36 hours even though I chose super saver delivery.
2: It’s packed very compactly, but the assembly instructions are clear (and in clear English!) and it only took a few minutes to assemble.
3: The directions for use are also clear, with helpful diagrams.
4: I was able to run it over the whole house, including the stairs, very easily, and it’s light and easy to remove the telescopic handle and front visor to do the stairs.
5: The dust collector is a tray that simply pulls out and is easy to empty.
6: The telescopic handle, fully extended, is long enough to make it easy to clean a large area of floor without having to move around too much. GTECH Cordless Sweeper 7.2v NiMH SW02
If I had a small criticism to make, it would be that it would be helpful if the red charging light either turned green or switched off when the battery’s charged, since there are warnings about not overcharging the battery.
Took delivery of this yesterday. Excellent service Amazon and great price! I have a large 4 bed house so wanted one that had a bit of oomph, therefore bought the 7.2 volt with 60 minute operation on one charge. After charging for 16 hours as recommended, did carpets in my large lounge, dining room, hall & stairs and the vinyl in the kitchen. Was very impressed with the pick up even though this is not a vacuum.
So light to use (almost effortless) and slides under my sofas (unlike my Dyson where I have to stop & fit one of the tools). Will use this regularly and only get my Dyson out for occasional deep cleans (and to do round base of door lintels etc., which can only be done with a crevice tool). Spare batteries are available for when the one supplied no longer holds charge. I would think it is ideal for people with limited mobility (could easily be operated from a wheelchair) or the elderly.
One refinement I would like to see would be a beep to let you know when the charging time was up. I used my mobile phone alarm to alert me when the charging was complete, as the instructions say not to overcharge.
Would highly recommend.
he carpet sweeper is good for a quick tidy up or any spills it does what it say’s on the tin a good product, with no plug to plug in it’s easy to use and saves taking the big hover out very useful I keep mine in the kitchen and charge it up after our tea so its always available to use I used the carpet sweeper nearly every day. I am disabled, and it’s so lightweight I can lift it up stairs for a quick clean up also easy to empty holds quite a lot in the dust pan I also have 2 dogs and it tackle’s the dog hairs with ease. I would recommend this product to my friends & family.
Just love this sweeper. I ordered the edge the edge model to use on the laminate flooring in my kitchen. It’s quick efficient and soooo convenient to use. I also use it on upholstery, carpets and tiles. It certainly beats getting out my heavy vacuum cleaner to pick up small bits from the floor. The only thing I would change would be that the handle could be collapsed further so I can store it in my under-stairs cupboard. Another bonus is that it’s British made – great stuff!
Purchased this sweeper for my disabled mother after she insisted on trying to clean up the new dogs’ hairs. It is brilliant. She has limited mobility, and as there is no effort involved,it makes the cleaning light work.Only needs charging approximately every 10 days. The dirt collection box does need emptying on every clean but it is a simple job. Better on carpets than hard floors. Am now considering one for myself for those times when I cant be bothered to get the hoover out.
This is a superb little cleaner. Works well on carpets and rugs as well as hard floors. Really light and perfect on stairs. I was a bit sceptical when I first got it as it seemed small and plasticky. But it really works a treat! A great alternative to dragging out the big vac. Just did my whole house and whereas I’d normally be red faced and perspiring, it was so light and easy to use that I feel I haven’t exerted myself at all! Highly recommended.
No, it won’t give the ‘deep down’ clean you get from the vacuum cleaner and it doesn’t pretend to, but for the daily dash around tidy up, this thing is marvellous. It copes well with the copious amounts of long, blond, fur which my golden retriever moults everywhere. Its light, manoeuverable and easy to empty and the brush is simple to remove for cleaning. One charge lasts ages and with its removable handle, using it to clean stairs is a doddle. The only thing you do have to do is empty it very regularly, otherwise it regurgitates what it has just collected. One charge lasts several cleans and its just effortless. I’ve now bought four; one for me, one for my best friend and one each for my 76 year old mother in law – who keeps it upstairs and uses it instead of lugging the hoover up and down – and her best friend who says its a wonderful device.
Since it arrived 2 weeks ago we haven’t got out either of our Miele Cat n Dog or our Morphy Richards Allergy cleaners.
So much less fuss and bother on our mixture of fitted pile carpets and oak flooring, although we will need to get ’em out to do into the corners and skirtings soon.
The light weight is a boon and we have had visitors and our grandchildren clamoring for a go. It’s been great for Christmas crumb clearing.
The downside is that some dust gets loose and can be seen on the top of the Gtech casing so it must be in the air as well. We’ve been shocked at the amount of fluff and debris needing to be emptied out of the collection tray after just one pass through the house but then we do have an elderly Persian cat so maybe I’ll now build a kennel in the garden!
Been using my Gtech SW02 carpet sweeper for a month now … it is superb! I have back problems, and a hairy moggie for good measure!! This little vacuum is a God send! Recommending it all over the place and buying one for my sister who cannot manage the heavier type. I do not think it will replace my heavy duty vacuum but no matter .. that only comes out once a week now! Tickled purple with this product!
Gtech SW02 carpet sweeper
What is the saying? “So good I bought the company?” I wish I could.
I took a chance on this because I am so fed up with buying expensive vacuum cleaners to cope with the cat hair that my Himalayan Persian leaves in her wake! (I love her to bits though). This sweeper did what no other hoover has been able to do – it picks up all the hair and a lot more besides! I am ashamed to say it took 4 goes on one rug alone and still kept bringing up engrained cat hair and other bits and pieces – and I thought the rug was clean! (We also have a dyson) I was so engrossed I went from one carpet to the other. Honestly you will not be disappointed and no I don’t work for the company! I am buying one for my parents as it is light, easy to push around and store – there is not much effort involved at all. The fact that it is cordless is also good from a safety issue + you don’t have to keep looking for sockets to plug into. Well done to this company. This will sell through word of mouth alone!
Why four stars not five?
I took one for the fact that I have a feeling that some of the previous reviews gave it one just for the fact that the product is British. Yes it’s great, but it does not matter really where it was produced. Anyway.
I would take another star off, as it ALMOST does what it says it does on carpets, but it’s being rescued by the way it works on hardfloors :
On tiles or wooden floor it works it’s magic and deserves 5 stars, no argument.
Problems start you want to clean the carpet. Unless you go around with a dyson once a week and then everyday with the sweeper you will encounter the unpleasant reality of the product being unable to keep the dust in a dustholder and throwing it away quite often (too often to be honest).
The way to remedy this is to add some water to the compartment, but it’s not really watertight so the amount needs to be small, diminishing the positive effect or you’ll need to do a small diy with a colourless kitchen sealant to make it take more water.
That said I would still recommend this product to everyone.
It is feather-light (1.6 kg), cordless, and works better than some of the vacuum cleaners you may find around.
