It includes the wall mounted part where all the wiring is done and the control interface. Both are working fine for more than 2 months after installation. The sad piece is that backplate for the control unit is not included and must be purchased separately. Neither this can be seen on the pictures nor it is provided in the description. Moreover, the 3rd piece the hub to connect thermostat to the internet is another piece you need to buy separately.

I have found manual controlling of central heating on the Hive very easy. I have not explored the app yet.
Even if I am upstairs and wish to change settings for ground floor, i need not come down.
Also the clear display is very helpful and even children can understand it.
I have not explored all the features so cannot comment on them.
Also I do not have Alexa so cannot comment on that aspect too.

I live the control and ease of use with these. Now they have the added feature of warmup time so the heating comes on and warms up the house in anticipation of you getting up not turn on for the time you programme.
They are very simple to wire up providing you have basic knowledge of electrics. They need power and switch live, simple on/off command. Probably easier in a new build setup. Please don’t attempt otherwise but there are many instructional on the web.
I am an ex electrician it took me 1hr to wire in dual zone.

    21st century smart heating.

Works great – just make sure you have a decent electrican to install.

Had hive twice now in two different houses, it’s great easy to control and manage your heating either In the house from the thermostats or remotely from the app. Couldn’t recommend highly enough

Had connectivity issues at the beginning. Customer support were going around in circles and tried to blame me as I did self install. Worked in the end and work well now! 4 star because of the day and a half of the stress.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI purchased the ‘Multizone Additional Smart Thermostat’ as a replacement for my original thermostat. I was therefore a little surprised to see this supplied with a new single channel (heating only) receiver. You do not need this if you are buying this as a replacement for an existing thermostat.

The new thermostat was relatively easy to reset and pair with my existing dual channel (heating and water) receiver, but the Hive App showed the thermostat and water as being offline, despite everything working correctly internally – everything had green lights, I could manually adjust the temperature and turn the heating on etc.

After several resets this problem persisted so I called Hive. They were extremely helpful, and were able to delete the old thermostat from my account, which immediately made everything work as expected. Pity you can’t delete the old thermostat yourself, but full credit to Hive customer service for sorting this in a phone call lasting less than 1 minute!

    Recommended.

my old controller worked on a 2 degree difference ie you set for 21 it wouldn’t kick in till it was 19 degrees and switch off at 23.
This you had a min of 4 degrees difference .
this is approx. !/2 to 1 degree difference and keeps the temperature stable. With the hive app you can control this away from home . A friend uses this for his parents that have dementia . He can ensure that the house stays warm even if they turn the system down. You can get notifications if the temp drops or rises above a set temp.
    excellent piece of equipment.
My only complaint is it needs a stand unless lying flat.

Really nice kit. You may struggle if you don’t know how to wire in a boiler controller in the first place, but it’s not actually difficult.

Got this on offer as British Gas wanted too much to add the multi-zone. I have some basic electrical knowledge and managed to connect this one to directly to the boiler to control heating zone 2 easily.

if you haven’t got it, get it. Superb, and a joy to be able to turn the heating down remotely when the kids have got it on full blast when its 20 degrees outside!

Hive is great, I love how everything works together from my heating to lights, plugs and sensors… the hive multizone was really simple to fit as has the universal backplate so done and dusted in less than 30 mins

setup was childs play, only issue is living GMT + 2, and having to set a uk address, i have to keep UK time, which is a bit annoying. no data-logging is also a disappointment, especially when i get a message once a month telling my house is 50 percent cooler / or 50% higher than the houses in my neighbourhood…

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersBough together Multizone and Hive, phoned up British gas, engineer came out and installed both. Have been perfectly happy with the installation. I can now change the heating remotely and can have different schedules and more importantly, different temperatures for each schedule, both upstairs and downstairs. (For example no point heating downstairs when you’re in bed upstairs!)

Delighted with our Hive setup, we bought it without installation (as we are in Ireland) and also bought a Multi Zone kit as we were doing a full heating system upgrade.

Once installed and setup to work with the remote valves in the house we now have our 3 zones of Downstairs / Upstairs & Hot Water, paired with a new condensing oil boiler and new hot water tank our efficency has increased dramaticly.

Its fantastic being able to turn on the hot water for a shower before coming home from a jog or making sure the heating is warming the house up on the way home from work. Even the freeze protection should there ever be a big freeze is great.

The app is simple but effective but could do with some tweaks to the interface like being able to swipe across to the zones instead of having to go back every time, maybe a widget on iOS would be great too.

Its a shame the thermo’s screens are off all the time, I would like to be able to at least see current temperature on the stats at all times but this is a minor gripe.

All in all we’re quite happy with the setup and it came is cheaper then the competing nest option while still looking pretty slick.

Love this magical shiney box, I bought two during the Black Friday sales on Amazon. One for the upstairs heating and hot water, and the other to control my downstairs heating. It’s made life easier as my old heating clock was a nitemare to set, now I control it all from my phones app. I live in Northern Ireland so British gas won’t provide instalment for their product here, that’s why I have given it fours stars. Buying this was definitely my Best Buy of the year, just for making life a little easier.

This works exactly as I wanted and when setting up I had a slight issue which was sorted within seconds by calling the helpline.
