I had another turntable setup in my office which always disappointed me. I saw this on a warehouse deal for 72 and thought I’d give it a go. At that price it is incredible, the internal phono stage seems to be pretty decent.

I think at RRP of 200 I may not be quite as satisfied, it looks amazing and has some useful features, like auto stop at the end of an album. It also has a replaceable cartridge which is a fairly cheap upgrade, although the supplied cartridge is not to bad.

It also looks fantastic and generally feels well made.

On the downside, the anti-skate isn’t the greatest and I seem to need to unplug it between uses. At full price I think there would be better alternatives at around the same price or slightly more.

Best record player you’ll ever have IF you have the correct speakers for it. It has a pre-amp but it sounds echoey and a bit static so you need some good speakers for it but it’s amazing and the attention to detail is amazing and it just looks so sleek. It sounds amazing with my current sound system which I’m looking to upgrade but it’s the best player I’ve owned yet.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI love it! This looks absolutely superb on my sideboard. It’s beautifully made, quality materials have been used and it feels sturdy and looks fantastic. It’s connected to my Echo Studio via Bluetooth, I just turn the record player on and it automatically connects to my Echo Studio, only needed to pair it once. It comes well boxed with everything you need. Highly recommend this piece of kit for any home!

Be careful when ordering though as I thought I had ordered the Bluetooth edition but hadn’t. I had already unboxed and playing a vinyl when I realised, so couldn’t return to exchange. I bought this to replace a failing turntable. Managed to buy during Black Friday week and glad a did. Pre- amp means I can connect to my Sonos 5 which is a simple yet great set up for our living room. Comes with bluetooth connectivity therefore can move easily and connect to a BT enabled speaker. Looks good on sideboard- would easily recommend.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI was nervous about spending so much money on a player and speakers (I bought the same-brand speaker to match, which I would advise!) but I’m so happy I did. I’ve been listening to records from the 60s and 70s and they genuinely sound like digital remasters! I’m so impressed. The player and speakers were easy to set up and the needle and arm were already perfectly balanced (although they’re very easily adjusted). The skate feature is a must have too, I’ve never had my records play so smoothly and so clearly. Can’t recommend enough. Easy enough for beginners too!

I decided to treat myself to a new record dec. Haven’t had one for years and we have so many LPs and singles. I chose the Marley. OMGoodness I was totally blown away by the quality of every part of the player. It’s made from bamboo and other natural products. I also bought the speakers which connect very easily. The best thing I have bought for a while and excellent value for money.

I also checked out how to assemble this record player on You Tube and a guy on there who appears to be a professional in testing products, didn’t really give this a very good review. I can honestly say I totally disagree with his opinion and so glad that I bought it.

I was looking to update my turntable and after looking income across this. Read reviews etc but was most impressed with the environmentally friendly approach soni ordered. Well I set it up and after a bit of experimentation with the weight on tone arm I was good to go. The first thing that got me was the bass tone and general bottom end sound whereas I felt previous player that served a purpose was in general more treble. I finished first album and went for something a bit louder and again found the sound very balanced and even, nice depth on bass and nicely countered with the treble sound. First album was stone roses debut second was nirvana nevermind. What totally won me over was the sound through headphones. My Mrs is still picking up grey matter from my brain exploding. This for me is a brilliant turntable and would recommend to everyone from entry level vinyl lovers to the more diehard. Revitalised my enthusiasm for Vinyl.

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersSo I’ve had this turntable for a couple of months now, thought I’d wait a while before I reviewed it.
I’d looked at the reviews of dozens of other turntables and eventually decided on this.
Well I’m not at all disappointed, I’ve had high end turntables in the past when vinyl was in it’s heyday and this is certainly up there, and for the price I really can’t recommend this enough.
Very easy to set up. Some people are not too impressed by the fact it hasn’t got a perspex lid, but taking into account the that it’s made from environmentally friendly materials I can certainly live with the black canvas type cover, and you do get used to it.
I’ve got mine connected to a Majority Oakington system also from Amazon, as far as I’m concerned they are a superb combination.
    Thoroughly recommended.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI paid an extra 30 for this in exchange for a far inferior turntable that would randomly skip on records with no scratches. This turntable is incredible.

Firstly, straight out of the box it just looks awesome. The photos don’t really do it justice, it looks gorgeous. It took me in total about 10 minutes to totally unbox it and set it up, really easy.

I thought the sound, when it worked, on my previous turntable was good, but boy the sound on this is so much better. Absolutely over the moon with this, can’t recommend it highly enough

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThe design integrates perfectly the environment policy defended by the brand. I only wish there was an alternative material, a solid one, to make a nice dust cover but I understand why they choose to make it in fabric. On the technical side, it delivers good sound quality, easy to set it up and play. As a plus, it offers the opportunity to upgrade the turntable by switching the needle cartridge or by buying a top shelf amplifier. In the end of the day, you get a product well build, with a good relation between price and quality.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersAbsolutely incredible turntable. After reading online reviews of wooden based turntable I’m glad that i have chose the Stir Up. The attention to detail in the design is impeccable. The wood finish is stunning and the engraving on the arm is an example of the finishing touches.

The feet provide great stability and prevent skipping when the shelf is knocked. The anti skip selection also helps – reading other review i certainly haven’t had any issues. The video review from beardyman also explains this very well.

The pre-amp works excellently. Since buying the Stir Up i also purchased the House of Marley Get Together speaker to match up. I love both units together. So here’s the thing. I think that this is a pretty decent item. The thing is, I also think it’s aimed at a fairly narrow audience, and if you aren’t in that audience, it may not be for you. Firstly, it seems as though it’s a fairly entry level item. I don’t think that major long-term vinyl buffs will be plumping for this. Secondly is the focus on sustainably sourced and recycled build materials, which is nice, but I can imagine some people either won’t care that much, or won’t like the look. That said, how is it?

I like it. I do. I personally think the simple wood and fabric looks is actually pretty smart, and it would look great in a well lit room. The setup was not complicated, but was a little fiddly to get everything set up right, but not enough to put me off. It has a built in pre-amp, so you can attach it straight to an amp and speakers. If you don’t have these, then you can also use headphones. Now I’m no expert, but it sounded pretty decent to me, and I do genuinely understand why some people prefer the sound of vinyl; there’s something particularly warm about the sound. As a final note, there’s also a USB jack that lets you connect to a computer to convert your old vinyl to digital, which is a nice bonus, although I haven’t had chance to test it.

There is one negative, and that’s the cover. I would’ve expected some kind of built in hard cover to protect the important bits from dust and light damage, like I’ve seen on other turntables, but this only has a light fabric cover, which will protect from some dust, but is certainly not an ideal solution.

It looks good. It works well. Just don’t drop anything heavy on it.

A really nice piece of kit; it looks great and sounds great. I would prefer that it had an on switch which started the table turning straight from the off rather than a combination of a switch on the side, the speed selector and the position of the arm, but that’s nit picking, very pleased with it overall.

Golden Review Award: 21 From Our UsersI wanted to return to vinyl after years of playing CDs and digital files. I still have a lot of old vinyl kept from my youth, and some newer reissues as well which I’d not yet played but had bought for the superior artwork. Now I can play them again….and how great it feels to rediscover the long-form experience of sitting down to listen to a whole album rather than cherry-picking, streaming and playlisting. Those ways of listening still have their place, of course, and I’d never abandon the convenience of digital files. They’re great to listen to on the move, in the car or while working or exercising. But it’s wonderful to sit in a comfortable chair, plug in the headphones, drop the needle onto some vinyl and bask in anything up to an hour of uninterrupted music. Something about a vinyl album trains you to listen to it all rather than skipping tracks. It’s good treatment for dwindling attention spans.

This deck looks great with its retro brown and black tones, and was easy to set up straight out of the box – just connect the mains lead and you’re off. The turntable comes complete with pre-amp with its own on/off switch so you can plug into external amp and speakers via line out or phono connections. If you don’t have these, you can listen on headphones. Operation is smooth and easy, although I was rather surprised when my record finished and the turntable just stopped with the tone arm still in place – my old record players used to automatically return the tone arm to the resting position when it hit the run-off grooves. The sound is good and there’s a dial to balance the tone arm (mine was already on the perfect setting) and an anti-skate knob if you find your records are skipping. There’s also an spindle adapter if you want to play 45rpm singles which have a big hole in the middle, and the deck comes complete with stylus.

However – and here’s the flaw which led me to knock off a star – what the turntable DOESN’T come with is the usual transparent perspex lid which protects from dust and knocks There’s a fabric cover provided, but although it serves to keep off the dust, it doesn’t protect against things like the family cat deciding to snooze on top of the unit, or careless family members dumping stuff on top of the whole thing. In the end I cut the sturdy cardboard box the unit came packaged in into two halves, and used that upside down as a makeshift rigid cover until I can find something better to protect the unit. Maybe I can find a suitable sized perspex cover in a charity shop or jumble sale….?

At first I thought I had a broken record player, it just made a noise and nothing happened..crest fallen. After finding out the turntable belt needed attaching it worked perfectly.
I must admit that I got rid of all my records back when they became obsolete. Oh well, just means I can start collecting again!
I love the look of the record player and it fits nicely on the sideboard in the conservatory. I had a portable speaker and it sound great through it.
Easy to set up (just check the turntable belt!)
This really is a quality player.

If you’ve discovered, or rediscovered, vinyl records here’s a vintage-styled turntable, with Bob Marley branding. This is a very handsome object, with a good-looking bamboo platform, and suitably hi-tech turntable and tone arm. You can play 33s and 45s, and also output the sound via USB if you want to digitise your LPs and reduce the vinyl sound to MP3 or some other digital approximation. The audio output can go into powered speakers or into the aux input of an amplifier. My old LPs, ranging from heavily overused (Stones, Abba) to pretty much good as new (Diana Ross), all sounded great and brought back happy memories.

The instructions are disappointing, but you will probably work out how to find and install the drive belt. There’s a satisfyingly heavy tone-arm counterweight that screws on, and it has impressive calibrations, but there is no guidance about where to set it.

After you switch on the turntable by turning the speed selector knob, the tone arm lifter will raise the tone-arm safely above the disc. Then you have to manually position it over the record and gently operate the lever to lower it. At the end of the record, the tone arm has to be lifted again and manually returned to rest. Don’t expect any helpful automatic operation. Oh — and there’s no lid, just a horrid black fabric dust cover which won’t look good in your living room.

This is a rather cool bit of kit. It has a bamboo top and everything seems to be made of good quality materials.
It does require a little bit of assembly when you receive it (the tensioner band, arm weight, etc.) but it is pretty quick and easy to do, even if the enclosed instructions are a little bit vague.

There is a fabric cover to go over the top of it, but it’s not a hard cover so you have to be a little more careful.
The main switch is nice and clunky, and the arm has a solid feeling to it.

As to the playing, I have tried a few different records and they all seem to play fine, after adjusting the weight slightly. The sound coming out of it is pretty good as well. I also played a couple of songs from my phone through the USB connection and that seemed to work as well, although it is essentially just a speaker doing it that way.

My ancient (well, 25 year-old) Rega Planar 3 recently died, and whilst I don’t play as much vinyl these days as I used to, I still have a large selection of records that I like to play every now and then — and quite a large number of recent releases that I don’t really dare open and play, as they are worth quite a lot of money! I was looking for a turntable that would give good sound quality and enable output to PC, etc, in case I wanted to rip any of my vinyl.

I’ve previously had some House of Marley earphones which I found to be really good, and so far I’ve been very impressed with their Stir It Up turntable. It’s built out of sustainable materials (eg the plinth is made of bamboo, which is unusual), which seems to be the House of Marley trademark — and explains the lack of a lid to the turntable, as perspex or similar isn’t really a sustainable product.

The turntable is quite easy to setup; the drive belt needs fitting, and a counterweight fitting to the tonearm, which took two or three minutes (being sometimes a clumsy person, I’m always scared of breaking things like this). The build quality is good, and, importantly, the turntable comes with an (albeit bottom-of-the-range) Audiotechnica cartridge, which is a big step up from many other turntables that seem to be on the market.

In terms of output, you have a choice of using the inbuilt pre-amp, or of connecting to your own pre-amp, and then obviously to your own speakers (this turntable doesn’t have inbuilt speakers, in case that isn’t clear). I initially used the inbuilt pre-amp,and found the sound was slightly disappointing, and lacking the richness of my previous turntable – this was playing both through my ancient Mission 750LE speakers, and through a Sonos Play 5. Hooking up to my Graham Slee pre-amp, however, the sound was very impressive indeed.

Having now used the turntable for around three weeks, I’m very impressed indeed. I’ll probably be upgrading the cartridge to make things even better, but this is simply a well-built, good-sounding turntable, that is even better when not using the inbuilt pre-amp. I have had to play around a bit with the tonearm to get the balance correct – for some reason I’ve found that when playing 7″s, it will skip sometimes — but after a vinyl-free six or nine months since my previous turntable went west, I’m loving listening to my vinyl again. This is a really good thing that I’m hoping to get years of enjoyment from. Definitely recommended.

I was pleased to review this turntable as I still have my favourite 60’s vinyl collection in storage. I was going to pass them on but now we are enjoying them anew on this very stylish turntable.

The assembly instructions are very clear. It took under 30 minutes to put it together, however the diagram is very small, so out with the magnifier to read the information.

It is very stylish with the beautiful sustainable solid bamboo plinth. It produces a good comforting sound but unfortunately the lack of a fitted solid lid lets it down. Instead of a lid there is a fitted black organic cotton/hemp material dust cover, not easy to vacuum clean properly. In time however I expect that it will need to be washed and there may be an issue of shrinkage or fading. There are no care instructions given for the lid but the turntable has to be cleaned with a dry cloth.

To overcome the dust issues I thought of putting it into a fitted bookcase behind glass doors but good ventilation is an important factor so we are instructed not to put it ‘in a built-in installation such as a bookcase’.

You need to want to work on the aspects of getting the best sound from the unit by not only taking care of the tone arm at all times but also adjusting the balance wheel to get the right pressure on the needle. I was surprised that at the end of the record the tone arm and rotation stops and the tone arm has to be moved back to the tone arm rest manually. The tone arm and tone arm lift lever seems to scream ‘take care of me’ as it doesn’t feel at all robust. It is easy to fall in love with this good looking turntable and you need to as it needs a lot of care to keep it looking smart. It would help if the House of Marley could find a way of producing a rigid sustainable lid.

I have given it four stars as it is what it claims to be, a turntable. The House of Marley has high ideals to use sustainable material and recycled materials wherever practicable and it is admirable that they give some of their profits to their 1 Love charity ‘a global movement dedicated to advancing Bob Marley’s message to a new generation of cause- minded agents for growth and transformation’

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIt may not be the highest spec model out there, far from it, but I do feel that this turntable is a significant step up from my Audio-Technica AT-LP60 to supersede that model in my home theatre. The cartridge contained within is actually an Audio Technica, there is a USB port for those of you who want to transfer these tracks to digital, and it is still belt driven (which you will have to connect for yourself, as you can see in my video). If you feel that direct drive is the only way to go then you’ll have to look elsewhere.

There is no lid, which means that dust and household debris can land on the platter. If you are in the habit of leaving your vinyl on the platter overnight you’d better stand putting them away if you don’t want them to get dirty. Also, there’s no stop start button, meaning you have to drop the needle yourself. I know audio purists would prefer it this way, and I was quite annoyed by that at the start, but I’m getting the hang of it now. I also much prefer the speed dial to the plastic-y buttons of the AT-LP60. This model feels a LOT sturdier and the woodgrain matches the beech of my home theatre, which is nice.

As you can see in my video it comes with red/white audio-out cables which merge into a single audio-in jack at the other end. I initially swapped these out for gold-plated cables that didn’t merge when I hooked it up to my Yamaha RXV379 and I got this horrible buzzing sound whenever the needle came down that spoiled the sound of any records that I was playing. Serves me right for trying to be smarter than the equipment.

The counterweight on the arm gives the ritual of dropping the needle in need of practice, but as I said, you will soon develop good judgement on where/how to do it. I’ve never had any problems with the arm or the platter as I did with the AT-LP60 either. For the money this is a solid extension of your home theatre, and made from environmentally-friendly materials too.

The vinyl featured in the video is Rock Your Body .

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersSo this is the first record player I’ve owned, and I say this as a slight audiophile (not like full on crazy but definitely a penchant for good sounding audio).

Thankfully I have listened to other people’s set ups and record players so I don’t have zero knowledge but I just wanted to make it clear that this is my first. I think it’s important because in some ways I think that’s the target market of this turntable. It’s not aimed at the pros or the long time enthusiasts, this is a great ‘my first turntable’ which isn’t crap quality, will give you good results but isn’t pound shop cheap.

So, set up. Couldn’t have been easier to be honest, take it out of the box take out the platter which already has the rubber drive band round it, pop that round the drive when you put it on and then simply put the rubber mat on top. Popping the counterweight on the arm was easy too. Damn, it took me about 5 minutes to set up – did not expect it to be so easy. Don’t forget to remove the cartridge protector (needle part) before trying to use the turntable.

There isn’t really anything else you need to know, the manual describes how to do all these elements quite well and so off I went.

Now I was bloody nervous using this for the first time, as I actually only have special edition vinyls from my favorite bands, all of which were unplayed. Choosing my blood red shoes LP I set to work, taking it out of the protective covers, putting it on the platter and then using the slider to lift the arm, positioning it at the start of the vinyl and using the lever to drop the arm gently onto it.

And… nothing. Turns out you need to switch the pre-amp on on the back. Once I did that I was treated to a skipping mess. After I stopped it, I realized i had to add a little more counterweight. The needle was too light. However once that was done, it was an awesome sound. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not hugely different to my FLAC digital files but it did sound really good. Going to my older radiohead LPs was a treat, some even sounded a little different – in a good way.

It’s nice to be able to play my vinyl collection, the turntable is super easy to set up, seems to be fairly low maintenance and even comes with a dust cover and 45 converter.

I think this is great for those who have only just been introduced to vinyl.

    5/5

One of the best Turntables I have ever tried. The build quality is amazing, and it sounds perfect. VERY SATISFIED.

It’s been a long time since I played any old vinyl albums so I was excited to hear what the quality of this turntable would be like, particularly with its unusual bamboo construction. I am pleased to report that the sound reproduction is excellent, giving a very wholesome and warm sound.

The turntable has a very high level of construction and connecting it to my laptop for MP3 recording was relatively hassle-free, though I did have to use a third party utility to record from it.

This really is a very distinctive looking turntable, wonderfully retro but contemporary at the same time, delighted with this.

Very impressed, not only does it support green environment but its pretty heavy like an audio technical, The tone arm is not very easy to setup and balance so you will need to have patience with this but its worth it. The heavy weight is good for stable ness which you need when playing a disc to avoid jumps and talking of audio technical this came with an audio technical cartridge too.

I liked the sockets for phono out instead of built in cheap cables you get with a lot of decks that are built in so you can buy a good one to go with this. The USB socket is useful too for copying records to hard drive and or burning them to CD pretty useful if you have loads of old vinyl that never seems to come out on digital form. I love the preamp switch too so this can make it more compatible with your equipment instead of having to buy more parts, no speakers with this that’s because its classed as a HiFi turntable rather then record player as some people seem to get mixed up with. The phono out is connected to your amp or receiver or anything else that takes a phono in.

I also love the DC12v socket so you can unplug your mains easily without dragging the cable with it should you need to move the turntable for some reason. If your new to purchasing vinyl and turntables then you need to place it on a level and steady surface such as a HiFi unit. The sound quality is pretty good though the use of a rubber belt is not a great idea to drive the turntable as sooner or later these wear out and cause wow and flutter and you have to replace the belt but they are quieter I find then the Automatic turntable I had before. To replace the belt its not too expensive though. Great starter turntable that wont disappoint you. To keep the turntable dust off there is a black cloth dust cover.

This is a really nice bit of kit, it’s simple and clean-looking. The sound quality is good and it is easily linked up to other equipment. However, my main gripe is that there is no lid. There’s a fabric cover, but this doesn’t afford much in the way that f protection. For the price, this is something of a flaw.

The most environmentally turntable on the market. Husband happy to receive as a gift, some construction required, but easy and straight forward. Packaging in good and high standard.
