Given the year long hosepipe ban we have invested in a large water butt and this excellent pump.Very easy to set up (watch the hozelock video first) It actually works better than i thought it might giving a very good powerful jet of water using my standard 15 m hose.Highly recommended.
The only down side is the float switch. It will only empty a water butt to about 18″ from the bottom before it cuts out. You need to manually hold the float upright to fully empty the butt.
Excellent pump, easy to use and set up, efficient and quiet with auto shut off by the float switch.
Hozelock quality but can take a few seconds for the low water level switch to kick in.
Over all tho it does work well with a good flow rate, mine is feeding 40 drip feeders at the moment.
hrought the drought it kept working and watered my grass from my brook.
Occasionally you have to jiggle the pump around in the water to get rid of air- blocks
Straight out the box simple to set up. Hose emptied 8 baths of water so far. A great way to recycle water and keep your plants alive
Pump arrived as expected. Good condition and well packaged. I immediately assembled and tested. All aspects of pump as advertised. I am very happy with the hose pressure and the ease to control.
A little tricky at first setting up after that it was a piece of cake. Used to pump water from water butt to pressure washer and from one water butt to another for cleaning purposes.
There was nothing to fit or put together and it was ready to go out of the box. All I had to do was drill a 22mm hole in the water butt lid. I already had a piece of connector hose and I just had to remove one of the connectors to feed the hose pipe through the lid and then re-connect it. so after finding something to raise the pump slightly from the bottom of the water butt and connecting the hose I lowered it into the water. I was then ready for the big switch on. It worked first time and the flow was brilliant. I’ve now used it to water the plants and it feels so good not to be ‘wasting’ mains water but instead recycling collected rainwater.
I paid, simple to set up with 5 metres of power cable.
It can fail to operate on occasions but I have found that shaking it, lifting and securing the float above/out of the water level enables it to operate best. I use it to drain my water butts & connect to my jet wash to clean the car, windows, patio etc and the pressure is excellent. The pressure connected to a 25 metre hose reel is good too and it will save me on irrigation/water costs in the garden as I have a water meter. A good buy and very effective for directing the water where you need it most.
Only downside is that you have to take it out & put it back in to make it work & the same again to stop it. I’m not sure if I’m doing something wrong?
When I eventually got it to work it was fantastic, no more carrying of heavy watering cans. I have two very weak wrists and this makes life so much easier in the garden. I would recommend it to everyone as long as you have an electric point reasonably close.
Easy to install. Does recommend removing from water source over winter so bear that in mind when installing. I inserted an external connector in the power cable so that I could disconnect in near the water butt over winter, leaving the power cable in place.
The hozelock water butt pump is a brilliant invention. Saves carrying watering cans all over the garden and for an elderly lady that is an important point. Just switch on the electrics and point the hose, easy peasy.
