Given the year long hosepipe ban we have invested in a large water butt and this excellent pump.Very easy to set up (watch the hozelock video first) It actually works better than i thought it might giving a very good powerful jet of water using my standard 15 m hose.Highly recommended.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWorks really well. Great advantage having the hoselock fittings. Lovely long power cable.
The only down side is the float switch. It will only empty a water butt to about 18″ from the bottom before it cuts out. You need to manually hold the float upright to fully empty the butt.

Excellent pump, easy to use and set up, efficient and quiet with auto shut off by the float switch.

Hozelock quality but can take a few seconds for the low water level switch to kick in.

Over all tho it does work well with a good flow rate, mine is feeding 40 drip feeders at the moment.

Occasionally you have to jiggle the pump around in the water to get rid of air- blocks

Straight out the box simple to set up. Hose emptied 8 baths of water so far. A great way to recycle water and keep your plants alive

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI bought this to transfer water from one 250l water butt to another one the same size which was at the other end of our 54 foot long garden.A standard hose was used to connect the two. To start with we set this up with the hose coming out of the waterbutt with the pump in it descending to the ground and then within 3 metres raising up to 2 metres (we had it going through a shed window). The the hose then descended to ground level all the way up to the end of the garden where it gradually rises to the top of the receiving water butt. This produced a very tiny flow rate – useless. However when we removed it from the shed window and just had it trailing on the ground from the donor water butt all the way up the garden (and then gradually rising to the receiving butt) the flow was adequate, taking about 1 hour 20 minutes to fill the receiving water butt. The instructions say that you should only run the pump for 2 hours continually so this is ok, though I’m tempted to do the fill in 2 stages so as not to strain the pump.

Pump arrived as expected. Good condition and well packaged. I immediately assembled and tested. All aspects of pump as advertised. I am very happy with the hose pressure and the ease to control.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersVery very pleased with this barrel pump , comes with a really long lead with a plug already fitted , all I had to do was sort out a short length of hose and buy a couple of new connectors and lowered the unit down into one of my 4 water butts flicked the switch and wooosh away it went , impressive pressure at the spray head more than I need to water the garden , don’t forget to attach a short length of chain or rope to make it easier to remove the pump from the bottom of the barrel when finished , I put a bit of wood on the end of my chain just in case the chain ends up in the barrel then the wood floats , I have 4 barrels that I can now pump out and water the garden and save running up the water meter , there are no doubt many other uses for this versatile pump, 10/10

A little tricky at first setting up after that it was a piece of cake. Used to pump water from water butt to pressure washer and from one water butt to another for cleaning purposes.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersSuperb piece of kit which does exactly what it says. I wasn’t sure what to expect in terms of water pressure but it turned out to be fine, as good as our mains supply and perfectly adequate for watering through a decent run of hose. The only thing to watch out for is that the system is very sensitive to the position of the float, so you do need to get the knack of adjusting that- at first the pump kept cutting out. However with a bit of practice the problem soon goes away.

There was nothing to fit or put together and it was ready to go out of the box. All I had to do was drill a 22mm hole in the water butt lid. I already had a piece of connector hose and I just had to remove one of the connectors to feed the hose pipe through the lid and then re-connect it. so after finding something to raise the pump slightly from the bottom of the water butt and connecting the hose I lowered it into the water. I was then ready for the big switch on. It worked first time and the flow was brilliant. I’ve now used it to water the plants and it feels so good not to be ‘wasting’ mains water but instead recycling collected rainwater.

Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersI ordered this pump to put into a 210 litre water butt so that I could run a hose / sprinkler from it. All I can say is that it works better than I expected it to with a decent amount of pressure. It works with a 50 metre hose and I can even run a sprinkler from it. Key to making this work well is to submerge it into the butt slowly so that all the air in the pump comes out before switching it on. Its quiet and efficient and I would really recommend to anyone thinking of doing a similar thing.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersExcellent pump for the money
I paid, simple to set up with 5 metres of power cable.
It can fail to operate on occasions but I have found that shaking it, lifting and securing the float above/out of the water level enables it to operate best. I use it to drain my water butts & connect to my jet wash to clean the car, windows, patio etc and the pressure is excellent. The pressure connected to a 25 metre hose reel is good too and it will save me on irrigation/water costs in the garden as I have a water meter. A good buy and very effective for directing the water where you need it most.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis product is really good. I have 5 100litre water butts so it’s a great way to reuse water.

Only downside is that you have to take it out & put it back in to make it work & the same again to stop it. I’m not sure if I’m doing something wrong?

When I eventually got it to work it was fantastic, no more carrying of heavy watering cans. I have two very weak wrists and this makes life so much easier in the garden. I would recommend it to everyone as long as you have an electric point reasonably close.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersI love this compact, powerful little gadget. I bought it to transfer all the rainwater in a water butt into a larger rainwater storage tank at the top of my hilly garden and it did so extremely quickly and efficiently – once I’d set it up properly. It’s a matter of reading the instruction booklet carefully and then doing things in the right order: securely connect your hose to your pump and point it at your water’s destination; set your pump’s float height; pop the pump in the water and THEN connect it to power and off you go. Any problems, just cut the power and try again. I expect I’ll be using it to water my garden as well as to move large amounts of water around this year. Highly recommended.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersIt takes a bit of faffing to get the pump to work properly as it depends on the position of the float switch. I have to move the float switch up and down to get it in the right position. But once it’s working, it works just as well as my hosepipe connected to the wall tap. It still has good flow with the hosepipe at full length (100ft) so it reaches down to the end of my garden without any loss of power.

Easy to install. Does recommend removing from water source over winter so bear that in mind when installing. I inserted an external connector in the power cable so that I could disconnect in near the water butt over winter, leaving the power cable in place.

The hozelock water butt pump is a brilliant invention. Saves carrying watering cans all over the garden and for an elderly lady that is an important point. Just switch on the electrics and point the hose, easy peasy.
