Purchased as a petty cash tin and absolutely perfect for the job. The tin comes with 2 keys, so great if you need a spare, and accommodates a small cash book too. It’s perfect for what I need.

It works but not really what was wanted. But it ok for me at this time. Money tray did not fit right so it broke. But that was ok for me, as it was just the empty box bit I need. So all ok

I wanted a solution to keep my backup drives in. A full fire-proof solution is expensive and comes with it’s own problems relating to weight and mold. So this was a cheap and cheerful alternative to keep 4 drives in away from my main computer and hidden in case of a break-in. (and yes I do know about the cloud, but sometimes a fast SSD works better when using large volume data).. The box is small, so check the dimensions to ensure works for you, whatever you using it for. I don’t use the keys, so can’t comment on lock.

I bought this product to keep my tips from work safe and it is doing the job. Comes with 2 keys in case one is lost and plenty of space for coins and notes.

I bought this item to keep my organisation’s petty cash in one place. Big thanks to the seller for delivering the product within 36 hours of ordering it, and well in advance of the predicted delivery date.
I read virtually all of the product reviews before choosing it, and maybe I’ve been lucky, but I haven’t experienced any of the issues with the coin tray that others have reported in their reviews – mine sits perfectly securely on the inside rim of the cash box.
Nobody can pretend this is the most secure cash box on the planet, but as long as it is under supervision whilst in use, then it’s a convenient, safe and useful product. I am quite happy with it and would happily recommend other to also choose it.

The box is solid and works well for a simple lockbox, 2 annoying things about the one I have
Firstly the money tray frequently drops into the tin and is incredibly frustrating to try and retrieve it out, especially when i’ve organised coins in it. Getting it out results in as you would probably guess the coins flying everywhere
Secondly, this is related to the coin tray dropping through (not sittin on the rim inside the tin) because this happens it won’t lock as it’s blocked the mechanism, so i have to lift the coin tray and try and lock it that way

For me the only let down is the coin tray, other than that it’s good enough, but I will have to replace this in the near future as it’s frustrating to use

This cash box was purchased for an unusual requirement.

It is just about the right size (a couple of mm wider would be ideal) to contain 2S Lithium Polymer rechargeable batteries!

LiPo batteries have the potential to catch fire (even when not being used/charged) and I use this cash box to both store and transport the batteries.

As you can see from the picture, they are a snug fit (picture shows 3 batteries in the box).

It is of sturdy construction and lockable and comes with two keys.

The coin tray was plastic and difficult to remove but seemed to be sturdy enough. This would be a problem, I guess, if you were using it AS a cash box and required to lift the tray frequently when dealing with notes. Probably easy enough to alter ? Certainly not as easy to insert/remove as an old cash box we have with a metal coin tray (it must be at least 40 years old).

So, if you want a sturdy, small, lockable cash box, this would fit the bill – provided you could fix/live with the awkward coin tray.

For my intended use, it is virtually perfect!

5.0 out of 5 stars A good, small, strong cash box

Nice small sturdy box that fits notes perfectly. Seems to lock good as long as the plastic coin tray is positioned in the exact right position otherwise you think that it’s locked when in fact it bursts open when carried.

This isn’t a high security item (not that any cash box is going to be) but it’s good for my needs. Needed something to keep medications in to stop the kids getting hold of them any this is perfect.

Only real complaint is that the top of the lid is indented so the storage space is reduced.

This was used for an unusual purpose but it did the job incredibly well. I had to chain it to a tree in a mental health facility put a key on elastic round my sick daughters neck so she had somewhere to access her cigarettes . All the hosps allow people out to smoke but offer nowhere for them to keep there tobacco except in bushes or trees often getting stolen or wet. This little box waterproof and sturdy gave my daughter her dignity and kept everything as safe a dry. It helped to keep her calm and helped her recovery.

The coin compartment is good but when you want to put notes underneath the coin compartment theirs a problems it won’t come out. The coin compartment doesn’t come up AT ALL. The coin box is good from the outside not necessary good in the inside. I don’t want to send it back because i like the box. It’s very sturdy, easy to lock but not easy to remove coin compartment so don’t buy this.

The little carry handle is a touch sticky and there seems to be a design flaw that means the unlocked internal parts interfere with the removable tray. If you aren’t careful when you pull it out it can get a bit jammed and needs to be wiggled a bit.

  41. MayaStovall says:

Although it’s small size limits the amount that can be stored in the cash box it is sturdy and has all of the characteristics that would be expected in larger models.

    Small but beautifully formed

Was surprised it was as small as it was, but still managed to get plenty of notes and coins in it. The top tray sticks a little when taking it in and out which could be due to the fact it is new. The lock mechanism feels solid enough and you get 2 keys with it.

Edit (after using it for a full week): I’ve dropped a star. The top tray constantly sticks. I’m in two minds whether to use a pair of snips to adapt the coin tray so make it easier to get in and out. It’s a bit of a faff as it stands.

2nd Edit: I’ve put the star back on. User error. The black tray sits neatly on the edge of the tin! Perfect now.

This money tin locks well but my God is it small. Not sure who decided it was 6 inches, it’s more 4 inches and there is no room for notes whatsoever… barely room for pound coins. Having said that, my son enjoys using it during his play time.

My mum has carers who help with her shopping and I was advised to buy a cash box to leave money for grocery shopping. The box is sturdy and easy to use, although I have removed the top coin tray as it kept getting stuck and wasn’t really needed. Overall it does the job.

  48. Anonymous says:

I purchased this with a view to using it as a faraday cage for our car keys, its effective in that when my keys are in the box and I bring the closed box close to the car the car wont unlock. I even unlocked the car, then put the keys in the box and tried the start button, again no acknowledgement from the car. So it does what I wanted it to do. As for a box to keep petty cash in, I am sure it would do the job.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe outer metal box is strong and of good quality. The lock works well is smooth to do and comes with two keys which is handy. I have used the box for few weeks now and my only dislike is that the coin tray has a habbit of falling inside the main box. This is a problem as it becomes stuck inside over the locking mechanism. You then have to remove any coins and forcibly pull out the tray sometimes resorting to turning the box upside down and banging it hard just to get the tray to release. Otherwise you can’t get to the notes trapped beneath the fallen coin tray.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersLooks exactly like on the photos. Decent quality, there are some visible marks (flash contamination?) on the box, but it doesn’t seem to be a problem, not for me anyway. Definitely a good value for money. The plastic coins tray fits a bit too tightly, but it’s OK too. Overall – cute little money box!

Looks & feels like a great little security box. However, the key was locked inside when it arrived. Now returned without any fuss.

I’ve seen a few reviews sayng the same thing. Maybe it’s something that happens during delivery (the latch gets knocked into a locked position) rather than it leaving the manufacturer like this? Either way, I’d suggest to the seller that keys be sent outside the box.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersA very robust little box. Fits in my backpack nicely and isn’t too heavy yet it’s tough. Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI think as long as you have read the other reviews and are aware the cash tray is a very tight fit then this is a great little cash box. If you’re someone who is going to be using the tray it may be more of a problem and I’d advise maybe look for an alternative but for my needs this is perfect and at a great price.
