Right to repair

You bought it. You own it.

Once you’ve paid money for a product, the manufacturer shouldn’t be able to dictate how you use it – it’s yours. Ownership means you should be able to open, hack, repair, upgrade, or tie bells on it. But it’s common practice to refuse to make parts, tools, and repair information available to consumers and small repair shops.

Manufacturers have created a monopoly on repair

When there’s only one repair shop around, prices go up and quality goes down. Companies have every incentive to drive up prices and drive down competition. Don’t let them. Become part of the iFixit community. Together we can fix the world!

a

Save the environment

We make a lot of e-waste

When electronics end up in landfills, toxics like lead, mercury, and cadmium leach into the soil and water. The electronic waste problem is huge: More than 48 million tons of e-waste are produced every year. Even when recycled, a significant amount of electronic material cannot be recovered. Critical rare earths are present in every single electronic device you own. 99% of them cannot be recovered for recycling.

High energy consumption, radioactive waste, destructive mining in informal mines where child labour and deaths of mine workers often occur, civil wars in Africa – mining and manufacturing is destruction. Making products last longer just makes sense – repair and reuse are our future. We need to make electronic products last longer. Repairing is sustainable, saves money and protects the environment. Every cell phone repaired is one less that needs to be manufactured. Fix your phone and your computer when they wear out.

Getting your first toolkit is a rite of passage when you become an adult. However, most standard home toolkits don’t come with the kind of specialty pieces you need when you want to repair modern electronics. For that, the iFixit Pro Tech Toolkit has virtually every tool you’ll ever need.

Unlike a standard home repair toolkit, iFixit specializes in kits to repair electronics. The company has an extensive catalog of detailed repair guides for smartphones, tablets, game consoles, and tons more. Each guide specifies how hard it is to do the repair and what tools you’ll need to do it. Take a look at any given guide, though–say this one on how to replace an iPhone X battery–and you’ll quickly realize how few of those tools you have. Fortunately, almost everything you need is in the Pro Tech Toolkit.

Excellent screwdriver bit set, contains quality bits for all the odd fasteners that manufacturers would rather you didn’t undo. If you enjoy taking things apart, this is the tool set to buy.

Simply put, it’s a tool selection that everyone should own.

This kit doesn’t contain 50 flat head screw pieces of various sizes. It’s not that kind of kit.

However, everyone has a tv remote, a clock, toys, or other small electronics. And those little screws? Yeah, try getting in there without the right tools, (without smashing it in frustration).

And what’s this? What the hell kinda screw is that? What kinda tool do I need? I’ve never seen that shape before!

Well, iFixit has, and they put it in this kit.

    Thank you iFixi

After purchasing another, similar kit for half the price, and being unsatisfied with the quality, I decided to get the best. After seeing these kits used by other professionals and reading dozens of reviews, I knew what to expect. However, this kit is not perfect. One minor detail, for example, which other reviews have mentioned, is that the legend printed for each bit really ought to be more obvious. I could suggest other improvements and features, but I’m not disappointed.

Primarily, I just wish that iFixit offered a less expensive 16, 24, or 32 bit set, as I will probably never, or at least rarely, use the majority of these attachments. Their ergonomic and functional design, lifetime warranty, and reputation were why I paid the steep price.

Like the set. Very good handle. Good selection of bits for all applications. Did not find application for flexible extension. I doubt I ever will. Would prefer tweezers or spatula in its place.

Bought to replace a collection of small screwdrivers which invariably end up separated, lost or missing. All in one place, small neat and tidy. Very well made and feel like quality as soon as you pick up the handle and drop a magnetic bit into the end, perfect, and away you go. Bits are good quality and don’t chip or break in use. Very happy.

So I’m not going to lie, I initially saw the ifixit range on Jayztwocents YouTube channel as part of a sponsored video and thought it was hilarious. But more importantly he did seem to rate the kit.

I was building my first PC and like many wanted a good driver set. So is it any good? Yes it is not quite perfect but very good.

First off the packaging is great and looks so much better than many other products with out being pretentious, I would class it as attractive industrial.
I love the fact theirs no damned hanging hook.

Though I’m not sure how the NdFeB magnets lid attachment method would Hold up in a tool kit. It’ll do just fine in a tool draw getting nocked around with other bits and pieces.

I put the box up on the wall of my room using command tabs, which makes it clean. Maybe the box could do with some slots for another convenient hanging method but I’m good with want I’m going with.

The laser / press cut foam is high quality likely seems like Zotrfoam but I could be wrong, and it should hold the tools for a long time so much better than injection moulded five row holders or blow moulded plastic.

The driver it’s self is well made, the nurling feels right and the blue free spining head is mounted in a quality bearing better than other micro drivers I’ve seen / used. The magnetic attachment seems to work well with a good fit between the bits and the tool body.

I can’t attest to the durability of the bits them selves. They seem to have held out well so far, I think I’ll order another set for work and see how they hold up in a higher use environment. For a hobbyist who wants something nice that’ll last I’d say they’re fine.

I have spent a fortune down through the years on cheap chinese sets that just don’t hold up. The heads are made of poor quality steel and any force and the heads just dissintegrate making them useless.

So when I decided to build my first PC & after seeing this kit promoted on a lot of review sites, I decided to purchase. I am more than happy. This kit is built to last and super easy to use. There is a great variety of heads for different screw types. They are really well made and it is apparent the second you see them. The included case is awesome and the lid doubles as a screw/fixing sorting tray (Would be nice if it were magnetic).

Do not be decieved. I bought a set that looks alost identical to the Ifixit one but it is not the same. The quality is not there. I intend to buy a few more Ifixit products in the very near future. If you need a set that will last and to be honest, great value, then look no furhter than Ifixit.

Well made with a very good assortment of bits. The brand is well known to me due to many of the YouTube tech channels I subscribe to singing their virtues. I wish I wasn’t so easily manipulated, but in this case, they are not wrong. A really handy set for small to medium jobs (for my case, building and upgrading computers, and other small electronics).

After trying several cheaper kits to mend an i-Phone, this was the only one that that was successful – all the others the Y000 driver stripped after 1 or 2 screws. The set is very solid, professionally made, lot of accessories that will last a long time. Magnetised to make picking up those tiny screws easier. Yes – its expensive – but the quality is there.

I wrote a comment about identifying the individual bits in the toolkit.

Having looked carefully at the tool bit holder, the part description is written on there (black on black so easy to miss).
Having seen that, I recommend that care be taken to always replace the bits in their original position after use.

This kit is really helpful and I cannot believe I have only just bought it. The ‘primary’ tool is really comfortable and well-made, with a very clean-spinning which freely turns in your hand as you screw/unscrew. The ‘secondary’ tool is a flexible one, which allows you to reach screws in awkward places. The detachable pieces are set out well and easy to grab.

I found out that every time I buy nice things for my hobbies, I ended up always using a cheap set of precision screw driver bits whic was awful.
It does not make sense: you spend money on things, sometime a lot of money, to then assemble, repair, touch them with a 5 bits set, ruining screws in the worst cases.
    Spend money on your tools.
This box seems good, with nice bits, well made, and a nice magnetic box.
I didn’t realise that when you open it, the lid works also as a screw organiser (you can use all the square boxes to place your different screws before mounting them back!).
We will see how long it will last with me happy

    Get good tools

To be honest I was a bit apprehensive about the quality and finish of the bits judging by the photos, but was pleasantly surprised with the overall quality. Everything fits well, there’s no wobble anywhere (nothing that would affect the performance at least), and it has every bit you’d probably need. Glad that I decided to go for this set, instead of some other cheaper sets available. I love good tools, and this one didn’t disappoint. Recommend without reservations.

This a good little set of driver bits for dealing with phones and laptops and similar electronics.

This isn’t top quality but it’s not bad, and it’s not like you need heavy duty tools for this kind of work. The driver handle is pretty nice though.

The box is neat, and the lid holds together with magnets and it doubles as a container for screws as you take them out.

I use this more than other more expensive tools just because everything is all there in one box. It’s a good set to have around.

I have wanted one of these for a while, having owned the first generation Pro Tech Toolkit for sometime. The item comes in a well made, nice plastic case with magnetic patches. The set of bits seems comprehensive and should allow you to open most electronic item screws.

I only wish the handle was a bit better… minor criticism but it is hard to hold in large hands but still a significant improvement on the metal handled one in the Pro Tech Toolkit.

I would recommend the item for the very reasonable price I paid on Amazon.

Everything you need (almost) to repair or upgrade your own technology. The only thing I found this was missing was a “spudger” (a little plastic device used in iFixit teardown to pry things open). Fortunately, I had a plastic flathead screwdriver I was able to use so this was not an issue

  47. SamanthStutchbu says:

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI purchased this toolkit to upgrade the RAM in my 2018 Core i5 Mac mini. The unit was getting incredibly hot when updating the photo library (40,000+ images), and after OS-X Catalina update and the plethora of issues I suffered it just got worse and worse. RAM usage was showing at 5.5Gb so I thought there was plenty of RAM left for general tasks, but now the unit was 12 months old and effectively out of warranty period I decided to upgrade the RAM as I couldn’t do any harm. On Apple’s website it states this is a service centre only task on the latest machines, if you have any sense of logic, mechanical sympathy, and patience trust me, it’s not a difficult job as there are plenty of online guides.

I got my toolkit out from my old MacMini that I’d bought from iFixit and low and behold the first 6 bolts I encounter have security heads which aren’t in my old kit. I found a bespoke MacMini RAM upgrade toolkit on Amazon for about 16, but it only has 3 tools in it. This comprehensive kit at 29 makes much more sense as it’s got your bases covered for so much more. One day later it arrived, and I’m pleased to report it’s really decent quality.

So I stripped the Mac down in about 10 minutes which wasn’t hard. Put the screws/bolts in a labelled box to help with reassembly, the hardest part is getting the logic board out which required a bit of a shove, but there are no more than 12 or so screws/bolts to remove to get to the RAM.

Ensure when seating the RAM you push it until you hear a positive clicking sound and it will go no further. It seats at 45 degrees on the board so don’t try and push it beyond this.

Re-assembly wasn’t hard, the hardest part was re-seating the wifi antenna cable & accompanying screw. I used the plastic Uspudger from my old Mac mini kit, but any thin plastic pry bar with a flat end would do.

Ever since completing the upgrade even with minimal tasks my Mac mini has been using 7-10Gb of RAM so there is clearly RAM throttling going on when using 8Gb as it was using 5Gb for the same tasks previously. The highest use I’ve seen to date is 12Gb with quite a few apps open (Photo/Music/Safari/Mail). If you do a lot of video editing in 4K I strongly recommend considering 32Gb upgrade (2×16 as there are only 2 slots), or you ca choose to max out at 64Gb (32×2).

Overall the upgrade has been very beneficial, but the toolkit made it an absolute breeze. The bits are solid, don’t round off, and if they are anything like the old kit which I’ve had since 2011 it will be a great investment that I’ve already used on for other jobs on an Acer desktop and an Alienware Laptop. I only ended up using 3 of the attachments in the Mac mini TR6 / T5 / T10, but I strongly recommend you search for the plastic spudger kit (you can get 2 for 1.50) to go with it as it makes the electrical connectors far easier to remove.

Top notch, great quality tools for gadget repairs.
Got just about everything you could want.
The reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is that the labelling to tell you what type/size tool you want to use is incredibly difficult to see. It would be much better to have clear labelling for each of the tools.

Reason why I’ve given this 4 stars is because it needs to have a plastic tool, which was required when I was trying to prise the battery out from the stubborn adhesive. Using anything metal can puncture the battery resulting in having to purchase a new battery. Otherwise it’s a handy little toolkit.

This 64 bit set really does cover everything you could need for opening electronic devices of all kinds, from phones to cameras to computers. I bought this set for replacing the hard drive in a Mac Mini but it also means I’ll be able to replace the various cheap screwdrivers I’ve accumulated over the years from phone battery kits and the like, and use these much higher quality bits instead. The high quality steel means the bits are much more precise, so providing a better fit, and minimising the chance of stripping even the tiniest of screws.

I stripped so many small torx screws with my cheap driver set, but I always blamed cheap screws; it turns out it was the drivers!

Incredible tool to have around the house and the office. I had a NAS with a stripped screw that I could not undo with any other screwdriver, one of the bits handled it with ease and I thankfully did not have to drill any of my screws. Would recommend iFixit as always, especially at this price range it’s incredible the product they provide and how it is always great quality.

The driver handle is great quality and a nice weight. The box is nice and the lid is useful as a screw storage whilst working on the fiddly stuff this is intended for. The only thing I have an issue with is the bit label information could have been a different colour to the foam storage as it’s difficult to see it.

-Handle feels solid and is designed cleverly to allow you to operate efficiently. The magnetised handle is useful most of the time but there are times where it is actually an inconvenience.
-The selection of the variety of bits is very well thought out. There hasn’t been a scenario (yet) where I have needed one the set doesn’t include. I have used it to disassemble phones, build pcs, desks and others.
-The lid of the casing doubles up as a screw holder allowing for better organisation of screws.

Only drawback is that I feel it is slightly overpriced.
Having said that iFixit are a known reputable brand and are known for their quality products. There aren’t many other kits available on amazon that offer the same features as this that are from other reputable brands.

Having struggled with old tool for a whole and trying to make do, I was watching Jayz2cents, Pauls hardware and linus you tech tuners use these and rate them.

So I pulled the trigger as I wanted to dismantle some old HDDs to destroy the media discs (you simply can not trust any formatting on HDD). I have used the tool kit since to repair a S4 and a fan controller. The range of bits is great and the screw driver handle is great.

There is a tool for so many repairs. I got this to open up my MacBook Air 2015 and it’s breeze to use. The magnetic connection is a real confidence booster when you’re dealing with tiny tiny screws. It works a dream, so although it seems like a lot of money, it is a quality bit of kit and gives you a sense of reassurance that you don’t get with cheaper things that could simply not work because they have cut costs so much that you end up wrecking the screw head before you’ve started your repair job. Pay a bit more and feel confident.

This is the set you have to have. Just perfect tools. After almost year of usage — still perfect condition.
I did use cheap competitive products, 2-4 times cheaper, but how you can rely on tool if it cracks when you need it the most. In first days of use. Never again cheap Chinese tools for a few where with the low price you have risk of damage yourself or device you want to repair as a bonus.

I know its overadvertised by Linus, but I love it too. I have not found a screw or a bolt that I cannot open with all those bits, and I even used the flexi twice. Its great, only bad tihng is that sponge to hold the bits will accumulate dust etc, also its a foam so one day after few years it will degrade and turn into a pulp, so you can 3d print yourself a carier instead.

This kit is a life saver. I’d wrecked some of the heads on my laptop SSD tray when doing a swap out (using the wrong size screwdriver), ordered this from Amazon, and it arrived same day, and not only had all the right bits, but was able to help me recover from my previous error, and get the laptop sorted.

Also good to note, is the casing isn’t cheap, it’s very well designed, and uses strong magnets to hold it together. You can use the top as a screw tray, and I guess you can stack these, if iFixit does the same size products.

Set has all one would need from precision screwdriver set, however there are still few things to improve. As other mentioned extension shaft doesn’t have magnet in it which seems totally illogical decision. Secondly, the finish quality of some tiny bits are still not quite perfect – this being more premium set I would expect all the bits to be cut and finished to the highest standard. The advantage over similar “chinese” sets is that steel used for bits is far better quality and properly hardened so you won’t twist or chip the bits. The handle is very well made, sadly it is slightly too short in my ~above average size hands. Probably 30mm longer and it would be just perfect.

In terms of quality, it is superb i have never used anything better. Is it worth it? Yes it is, i expect that this set could be passed on to the next generation! The only issue i see with it is the magnetism on the tips, it fits perfectly fine but using it to pick up screws it does not work as well but that could be fixed if u manually magnetize the tips yourself. But all in all it is a very good product and i would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a screwdriver kit.

    Nice quality product,
But the 150 mm Flex Extension and the 1/4″ to 4 mm Driver Adapter leave the product down.
the 150 mm Flex Extension end and the 1/4″ to 4 mm Driver Adapter end to receive don thave the end quality of a hold of the bit as the Main Aluminum Bit Driver, very poor bit will fall out.

Every small tool for computer you need. Arrived in 3 days well packed. My only annoyance is the tool indicator on the foam insert is impossable to read(see pciture). So trial and error when trying to select the right tool but a minor issue. I love Ifixit stuff.

    As expected very good

I recommend these a lot, even if you think you might not need a lot of the bits.

When I first looked at it, it was just a bit more expensive than other kits and all I really needed was an assortment of Phillip screwdrivers, but everything I got in the box turned out useful in the end.

I really like the design and manufacturing quality of it: it is amazingly robust, you can take it anywhere, and the squares on the back can act as really useful screw holders. Also the magnetic closing design really makes using it easier.

I have had this kit for around 2 months ish and so far I’ve taken apart my laptop about 7 times ish as I have had some bad luck with my acer nitro 5 ( don’t recommend this laptop its a cheap P.O.S) , my 2011 refurbished mac book pro I’ve had for 2 years to replace the thermal compound , and a phone. Ever time I have used this it feels really good in the hand and the swivel top makes taking out the 13 screws on the back of my acer to pop the bottom of the case bearable. The bits have withstand me using them as pry tools pretty forcefully and none have broken yet. My only issue is that when a bit is in the top it will not slide around and not screw anything like a crap screwdriver but their is a bit of a wiggle and it isn’t an exact fit I hope this is changed in the future. do recommend this.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersThe downsides i found while using it:
    * It’s hard to see notes of the bits as they are not printed in different colour
    * Magnetic cover could have magnets on the biggest part to be able to hold screws (like a magnetic mat), now magnets only holds cover in it’s place
    * bits are non standard, to can be used only with ifixit tools
    * There are cheaper solution that gives you the same stuff, not sure about the durability of those. Will update my review after some time (to see how it hold)

This is a very good screwdriver kit, the bits and screwdriver are of a very high quality. I’ve used it to disassemble my laptop and to build a PC.
The only slight annoyance is that the tip of the flexible extension is not magnetized, hence it wouldn’t be difficult to lose one of the bits when using i

Excellent kit, I’ve used it for a few things already, and I go to it first for any tech needed opening and so far it has all that I’ve needed.A little bit more expensive than others out there and though I have not tried them all, I will say that this is well worth the extra cost for the great bit tool and quality bits and practically all you need for opening up your devices for whatever reason.Opened my 27″ iMac down to the CPU and had all the bits required,A must have if you like to upgrade your own devices or repair/investigate etc.

Every device I own needs a different screwdriver for every screw, so I took a chance ordering this to see if it could fit my needs.

It definitely does! The build quality is great and the selection of bits you get are way more than I’ll probably ever need! I don’t think I’ll ever need to buy another driver again!!!

This has been my go to tools since I have bought it. I have a full tool cabinet which is now is disuse because of this little kit.

The kit itself is made very well. All the fitments are solid and robust. I have unscrewed some really tight parts recently which have killed cheaper screw drivers in the past but not these!

Very comfortable and solid driver. Great selection of useful bits. There are two things I dislike: the case it should be completely flat so it can stack, rather than having a curve / slant on the top and the markings of the bits in the case should be white so I can see them. They are so dark that I cannot see them at all.
The magnets that hold the case closed work much better than the wooden case, I guess because this plastic case is so much lighter. The magnets actually do something here, unlike in the large wooden case I have. Overall, I love this set. So nice to use the bit driver, unlike others I have purchased that look similar. Great value.
And it come with a lifetime guarantee!

Not a cheap kit by any means BUT you can tell straight away that it’s a quality kit. I fix and mod phones and consoles and my current kit didn’t have the proper size bit to take apart the Nintendo Switch so started to look around for either the bit I needed or a new kit. Looking around at reviews, i-Fix it kept coming up a decent set so I started looking into them. Excellent reviews so I bought one. It was cheaper direct from i-Fixit via Amazon than straight from i-Fixit themselves as they are based overseas.

When I need a kit, I’ll definitely be looking at what they have when the time comes.

This is by far the best kit I have bought. the case is very handy for putting the screws in and keeping them sorted while working . The bits are very well made and work as designed. Great set of tools. I tried several other cheaper sets which sadly just weren’t made well enough but this one did the jobs nicely. Have changed out the battery in MacBook Pro 2009 and fixed a hearing aid so far. The heads were excellent fits and there was no issue with the heads shearing as there were on the cheaper ones. Great little kit, I’ve used it for lots of little screws as well as for an iPhone battery replacement (no other tools except a plastic opener tool and a suction cup required).

Very high quality, not like the cheap screwdriver bit kits I’ve encountered. Screwdriver body is all metal and has a rotating end to make it easier to turn.

I’m slightly concerned about how well the foam with holes for the bits holds up over time, I’ll update this review if there are any problems.

Was really questioning weather this woold be better than the other brands here but after using it on my moto g4 torx 3 screws you could feel the precise engage of the tip and did not slip once. Compared the tips to my wiha screwdriver they are not too far apart to the eye. Definitely go for this and you will not be sorry

Kit kit has very good construction quality, looks and feels professional.
    Compact and aesthetically pleasing.
The bits might get a little bit of rust if you live in zone with high humidities. But you can always take care by cleaning and oiling them.

Used in smartphones, laptops and my own car.

This is a really nice set and has all the bits I’ll ever need I should think. The magnetic-closing case is excellent, the bits are nicely machined and sit firmly in the quality foam insert (but not so firm that I have to wrestle them out), and the solid alloy handle with the ball-bearing spinner is gorgeous. There’s room in the case for a few guitar picks of various thicknesses that I use to pry my laptops open, and that is everything I need in one small case.

This is an excellent precision screwdriver set. I wanted to replace the trackpad on my old MacBook but typically Apple had used two different Y-point screws for which I didn’t have the screwdrivers. Whilst these particular screwdrivers can be found and purchased individually from a few places, this whole set was much better value and probably much higher quality too. It also means I can now sell a couple of smaller precision screwdriver sets I have as this kit means I now have everything I need in one place.

The magnetic lid closure is great for easy opening and the screw sorting tray just shows how well thought out the kit is. I expect the flexible extension might also come in useful at some point. One very minor niggle – why a SIM eject bit is included is anyone’s guess – that job can easily be fulfilled by a paper clip and there could instead be an additional size screwdriver.

I bought this after having previously purchased a similar kit at a much lower price which wasn’t able to remove some fairly worn pentalobe screws from a MacBook Pro case. I’m not knocking the lower priced kit, it was reasonable quality for the money but when dealing with the screws at these tiny sizes the quality of the metal in the screwdriver is clearly very important. There were 5 screws (of 10 on the back of the MacBook) that the cheaper kit couldn’t remove. The P5 bit in the iFixit kit removed them first time.

Generally speaking the kit is of a higher quality than previous kits I’ve owned and is very well packaged.

Golden Review Award: 26 From Our UsersIf there is one thing I believe its worth spending money on its tools; good quality tools. And its hard to find better than iFixit. I’ve used their products for years for casual repair of all sorts of things from smartphones and tablets to laptops and TV’s.

The finish and quality of the driver and the bits is excellent and, as of yet, I’ve never been stuck for the correct bit. Even the micro Philips heads and torque heads are sturdy and don’t deform or chip during use.
The kit is I think built primarily for smartphone and tablet repair but I’ve found it indispensable on laptops and larger tech.
Even the box is useful with its strong magnetic clasps and compartmentalised lid for keeping different screws separate.

It really is hard to fault this product as it works brilliantly weather you’re a professional or amateur techie.

The last kit you'll every need

With lots of reviews of cheaper variants i thought i’d bite the bullet and get this slightly more expensive set from IFixit as i needed to carry out a repair on my macbook. As a mechanical engineer i am using various tools daily, this whole kit is great quality , much better than i expected, driver body is very nicely made and has a great feel , nice weight , feels really good quality , the bits themselves appear to fit wel so far although as others have mentioned the P2 pentalobe is a little sloppy it still undid all the fasteners with no issues and doesnt show any wear or particular softness. All in all very happy considering the relatively low price.

Firstly this isn’t the cheapest toolkit and you can get a similar amount of bits for much less, but don’t let that put you off purchasing this product.

From the case to the driver to each bit, the build quality is fantastic and much better than I expected.

The driver is magnetized (but not too much) and the top of the case is useful for sorting screws. I work in the surveillance industry so I am mostly using the torx bits but have used the flathead and philips bits too, everything has been very easy to use.

I have no doubt that I will still have this in 5 years so if you divide the price by how long you can expect to own this all of a sudden it seems great value.

I love these tools. My confidence and ability to fully disassemble tech has gone through the roof.
They also have a great list of servicing and fixing manuals on their site.
The first job I did was fully disassemble my graphics card, clean the heat sync and redo the thermal paste. Has given my 3 yo card a new lease of life.
The 6 months more it will keep up with games and the cost of cards dropping over this time means it’s paid for itself.
They’re so good I ended up buying a second set for an IT friends Christmas gift. He was complaining about the work supplied tools being rubbish

I really didn’t expect the item to be of such high quality! The driver base is solid and feels great, the bit seem solid and well made and the box design is really handy. I don’t really do reviews but this one impressed me. I only wanted the TR6 for a Mac mini SDD upgrade but glad I have a very comprehensive set of bits!

Really excellent quality driver kit. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this. The bits and the driver feel very high quality and the case and foam insert that holds the bits is also of a high standard. I was pleased by the grid layout of the lid as it’s perfect for holding little screws while you take something apart.

Before I ordered it I thought perhaps 29.99 was a bit steep to purchase drill bits but honestly this is excellent value and I can tell these will hold up for years to come.

  99. Melanie Plane says:

     United Kingdom

The bits are precisely formed (no mushy edges, a common issue with cheaper kits), the driver is study and robust and the packaging is beautiful.

The casing is thick and heavy and snaps together magnetically (the four dots at the corners are small neodymium magnets). The top half of the casing has a plastic grid moulded into it to act as a part sorting tray while working on projects – ingenious.

    An absolute pleasure to use.

I bought these to replace an expensive (double the price, half the number of bits) Beta precision toolkit after the bits became brittle over a short period. I can say without a doubt that the iFixit kit seems much better quality. I had hoped that a company like iFixit, with such a stellar reputation, would have used high quality suppliers (why risk the reputation of the website by putting your name on crappy products?) and I’m pleased to see they did. I’m genuinely looking for some other iFixit bits and pieces to add to my work bench (the magnetised dry-wipe project mat looks neat).

The one tiny issue is that the one of the holes in the foam that hold the bits is too small, so it looks like the bit has just been jammed in there. The rest all sit in perfect little rows, but the 1/4″ to 4mm bit is really loose in the tray and just trying to escape.
