    Sturdy and does the job
Arrived well packed and took almost as long to unpack as to assemble. But that’s certainly not a complaint, you want the rower in one piece.

Watch the short video on YT, stopping as you work through the spannering. I used my own tools but the ones supplied seemed just as good. There were two ‘spares’, two identical metal enlarged ferrules; it might be my own ineptitude but for the life of me I couldn’t find a home for them.

The rower folds in half and the wheels allow it to be moved about. So to use. The LCD is a bit insubstantial and a bit on the cheapo side but it does the job. In use the rower is smooth and sturdy, resistance is adjusted by a lever akin to the gear change on a Chopper.

The seat trundles up and down the aluminium track: it can clank a bit until you adjust your bum position after which it is smooth and quiet. The pull handle is attached to a belt and I love the adjustable air vent like something in a car which blows air in your face.

The wife is an active user of this and we are both beginning to feel the benefit after a few weeks use.

I’d prefer the Concept 2 but for home use this is a perfect machine

A sturdy, efficient rowing machine - with bonus customer service!
This is my first rowing machine, so it was a bit of a stab in the dark, the Ventus 2 felt like a good starting point for someone like me: physically fit with a well established exercise regimine – looking to branch out and incorporate rowing into the mix.

My expectations were met and exceeded – particularly by way of customer support (from helpful assembly videos to help when I accidentally bent a crucial component of the machine!). The machine itself is sturdy, well built but practical. The footprint was important to me, with limited space. The process of folding up and moving the machine is very, very simple and its size, once folded, suprisingly small.

As made clear in the description – the display / software here isn’t going to connect to fitness watches or anything like that – being a simple LCD display. However, the programming and readouts are extremely intuitive with all key metrics clearly tracked and the whole display does a great job of telling you everything you need to know – at a glance. The holder for a tablet is a great addition.

The build quality is top notch, as is absolutely necessary for a machine designed to take an adult’s full weight during rigorous exercise. The belt resistance feels good too and all points of contact sturdy, reliable and comfortable.

Aside from a few hiccups with assembly (which were easily rectified by finding the build walkthrough on Youtube) – I cannot find fault in this great, strudy and compact machine.

For the money you can not go wrong.
I was desperate for a good rower but wasn’t prepared to spend the money for a Concept 2 or similar. I researched for weeks and eventually came across this beauty. It’s excellent for the price and head and shoulders above the other mid priced rowers. Don’t be fooled by fancy LCD displays and monitors they are a gimmick. You need a sturdy well put together machine and this is exactly that.

    I do like it but...
I’m enjoying my rower but there’s a few design issues. The tablet holder is slightly out of square. To replace the batteries in the tablet you have to dismantle the whole tablet structure it doesn’t pop out and the assembly tools aren’t man enough to tackle the footrests which keep coming loose. I’ve really tightened them down now fearing I’d strip the thread BUT everything else is great and I love the vent for keeping cool. Fairly straightforward to assemble and a utube video where video gives you a first-hand sight of what it should look like. Overall, yes I like it but room for improvement.

    Great machine, good workout.
I have had difficulty, with the end of the rowing stroke. I am only 5′ tall so when l come to the end in the catch position my arm are bent as the handles are in the cradle, when my legs are in the 45degree angle. I have had my personal trainer watch my technique, and we have worked on my finish position. I can make it work but would be great if the cradle for the handle was further away.
However, l do love the machine and l am getting a good workout.

Confusing Instructions and poor customer service
The YouTube video to help install the machine was at odds with the supplied instructions (which were wrong/poor anyway). When I telephoned customer care for help they were “busy” and so asked for a number to return the call.
No call back was ever received
It’s cheaper than the Concept 2 but there’s an obvious reason for this. However, on the flip side, it does what it sets out to do BUT already the seat slider is making strange noises and neither of us is anywhere near the weight limit allowed. Shame really as it could be a good experience. It has all the potential.

Really pleased with it, I would say that it’s not suitable for anyone who is over 6ft because the length of the machine however for me and my partner it’s fine.

Very good product and value for money, it is easy to assemble except the display with the tablet mounting and it is doing the job very nicely. The tablet holder is helpful for distraction whilst exercising.
The only niggles, and I am being picky, are the foot rest bolts which needed tightening up several times before they stopped coming loose (thread lock would do well here) and when the batteries for the display require changing you have to dismantle it from the mounting. For some the resting point for the handle could do with being a few inches further away for a fuller stroke. But apart from these niggles I would recommend this to anyone who is thinking of getting a rowing machine.

Great but you need to assemble i
Bought as a Christmas gift for my husband and we use every day. It took several hours for him to put together. Be aware when it’s delivered in its box it’s very heavy so get delivered to the room it needs to go in. We are happy with it, if it was left for me to build though it would still be in pieces for another year as it took much longer than expected or indicated, it’s not a 10 minute job

Best on the market for the money.
Whilst looking for a quality rower I discovered this one, I had been contemplating a Concept 2, but at over double the price of the JLL Ventus 2, I decided to go for this one, And I am so pleased I did, to my mind this is as good if not better, the build quality is superb, and being a larger guy, it so sturdy and supports my weight easily with no issues.
If you are in the market for a fantastic quality product which will not break the bank, then stop right here and place your order, because you will not find better for the money anywhere.

Great Rower for the price !!!
Bought this rower as needed a sturdy rower that could fold away to save space. Read the reviews and people saying it was great and sturdy for the price. Wasn’t disappointed ! Great buy and a great rower for the price !! Very sturdy ! I’m 6′ and 15 stone and more than rigid enough for me ! Normally trained on a concept 2 at gyms so felt different at first as not as long, but after a few goes it felt normal and very good ! Digital display is fine and easy to understand etc. A great buy for anyone looking for a good sturdy rower at the cheaper end of the market ! Defo give it 5 stars

Impressive, well built home rower at a competitive price.
This is a good piece of kit. Relatively quiet and easy to program. Smart looking and very robust. Small problem-Spring loaded device holder just too small to hold my ipad and too large to grip my phone sideways .Cannot stand the phone upright with the earphones plugged in as the earphone cable connector fits in the bottom of the phone and there is no hole in the bottom of the rowers’ holder to accommodate the cable.

    Excellent Home Rowe
Ok, so we have had this machine a month.
It is fine to assemble with a bit of patience, the YouTube video is extremely helpful and also don’t panic that there are parts missing – some are already attached and need removing from the main body of the machine to add components to.
Once assembled it is sturdy, it also has a preventative maintenance guide in the handbook to remind you to check components for wear and tear.
A couple of people have said that the resistance isn’t good, I completely disagree. We use this machine on level 4 alongside YouTube Rowing tutorials from Training Tall and it is perfect! He has a range of tutorials on form for beginners and rowing for cardio and building strength etc. If you want to get the most out of your rower I suggest you look him up, rowing isn’t about going flat out all the time! My husband and I have been using it most days and have both felt an improvement in fitness. It will likely be used even more now we are in lockdown again. It isn’t the cheapest rower out there but it is comparable to the rowers I have used at the gym in terms of quality. It is pleasingly smooth and the seat glides along the bar very well. We are very pleased with it and consider it money well spent. I can’t comment too much about ease of folding it up as we are fortunate enough to have room to leave it down all the time but it doesn’t seem too difficult as long as you are careful with the wires. The display screen is easy to view, operate and understand and I find the tablet holder ideal for putting my phone on to follow a tutorial. I would definitely recommend spending a little bit more on this machine if you are going to be using it longterm.

A bit fiddly to assemble. Do it in the room where you'll use it.
Great machine. Good range of resistance settings, and good display with plenty of programme options.
The length of the track seems a bit disappointing. At first I thought it was that it doesn’t go back far enough for a 6′ guy like me. But on further thought, it is that it doesn’t go forward enough: at the front of the stroke, the main unit is too close to you so you are not pulling a full stretch, rather always starting with arms bent. I think an adjustment to bring the foot rests towards you would help solve this, and I may have to try adapting it in some way that doesn’t invalidate the warranty.
Not sure what “Sheerness” is, so I gave it 4 stars (benefit of the doubt).

This is a very sturdy home rowing machine. I particularly like the 5 inch LCD display showing all the stats you need and it links up with my Polar T31 HR chest strap with no problem. The tablet holder is good too, but there is no data link to a mobile device which would have been nice. Most importantly the customer support is second to none.

Good, mid price, sturdy rower, I recommend i
It’s clearly a well made machine, nothing flimsy about this one. Ok, I suppose the monitor could be more sophisticated and changing the monitor batteries us fiddly, tgats not a good design feature, but apart from that it’s a very sturdy rower, and would say equivalent to the quality that you’d expect to find down at the gym. Took me a good two hours to assemble on my own, but wasnt difficult. For a mid range rower it ticks all the boxes, speaking if which, it’s so incredibly tightly packed into a single large box, that you can forget ever repacking it, tgats not going to happen !

The rower was quite easily put together once we realised that some screws were already attached to the machine prior to delivery. The rower is quite sturdy and runs smoothly. This is a great rowing machine, even though I have only used it a few times. Putting it together was straightforward, if you take a bit of care. I am just starting rowing to try and get fit. I have suffered for years with arthritis, so need somethign that will allow me to do aerobic exercise, but in as low impact a way as possible. So far, so good, and for the first time ever, I am actually starting to enjoy exercising, and gradually building up my stamina. I would thoroughly recommend it.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGood quality rowe
The rower looks good and is easy and comfortable to use. It is quite different to a Concept2 (as used in most gyms) because it has magnetic resistance as well as air resistance, which, at higher resistance stops the flywheel completely and makes for a jerky action. The lower resistances (1-3)do not have that effect and give a smoother row. This is a good rower for general home fitness studios and at a fair price. My wife and I (both elderly) enjoy using it.

    Great machine
Really pleased with the build quality of this Rower and the reasonable price. The mechanism is very smooth, quiet, and user friendly.
Assembly is easy, however, I do think the information regarding the monitor/display could be written better.
The bracket assembly which I attach my iPad to is useful, especially if you want to use your own heart rate device and monitor it separately, and/or controlling your music etc.
I bought a small clip on led light (Lencent usb rechargeable 7 LED 6.99) as the monitor is not backlit. This is great and works fine for me.
I am happy to recommend this Rower, as I bought it having previously purchased the JLL IC Pro 300 Spinning bike and liked the quality of that.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersShort catch but otherwise well made.
This is a very well made machine that is easily assembled. It’s major failing is that you can’t take the catch with your hands beyond your toes: this makes for a very short rowing stroke: 3/4 slide and sitting up at the catch. Does no one at JLL row? For short people this could be remedied if the stretcher (pedals) could be moved back, but they can’t.
Folding is not very practical – I cant see my self folding it away at the end of a session, for instance, but the whole thing can be tilted vertically – not sure how safe this is as it is not designed to do this but it could be.
Summary: too short a stroke for a serious rower but otherwise very well made.
Dear JLL: please redesign with a longer stroke length: hands must be able to go well past the toes. Also please design specifically so it can be tilted up at the end of a session. Thank you!

Robust erg with just a few niggles, but good for the money
Pleasantly surprised by the quality and sturdiness of all the parts, everything was well packaged and the assembly was reasonably straightforward (aside from the two mystery metal bushes that weren’t listed anywhere on the parts list or instructions – still don’t know what they’re for).

Smooth and reasonably quiet when in use, the seat is as comfortable as you’ll get on an erg, and the handle provides good grip.

I’m 176cm tall, and the catch position is definitely short – you can’t achieve a nice reach forward before the handle is already hard back against its housing – the footplates really need to be about 6-8cm further back, as the rail has plenty of length.

It’s a big unit, even folded, but easy to manoeuvre with the front wheels if locked flat, or the centre wheels when folded.

Wish list would have been ant+ or Bluetooth connectivity, but it’s a really robust and effective erg for the money. Just don’t rely on the Amazon indicated delivery estimates – they bear no resemblance to reality. The courier company being used by JLL seem to have very few 2 man vans, so mine sat in their depot for almost two weeks.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersHas a good quality feel
I was surprised at the quality of the product. It felt very well engineered as I was assembling it. The instructions are basic but ok. The only thing I would say is that the forward reach is limited by the position of the circular dome. On a Concept 2 I can reach forward beyond my feet to get the maximum movement. On this machine the forward reach is limited to just being level with my feet. It is ok, and works ok. If you never used a Concept 2 you probably won’t notice. The adjustable resistance is ok, I have it in the middle and works well for me. Putting it on maximum gives it a strange feeling of the resistance throughout the stroke, but I guess that is a result of using magnets. For the price it is perfectly fine. it seems a good product. I would recommend it.

    Money well spe
Absolutely no complaints. I read many reviews of many rowers before deciding on this one. It arrived earlier than expected. Once ordered The supplier contacted me asking for my most convenient day for delivery (I was then able to choose the most convenient date from a wide range of dates). Their couriers then contacted twice before to confirm and again half an hour before they delivered. You can’t fault that.

The price is spot on. I’m 6ft and have no problems in getting a full stroke in. I put it together myself with no problems (I didn’t time myself, it felt like an hour and half or so, but genuinely easy enough). You must read the instructions fully before assembling, get all the tools and extra bits out before you start. I liked the fact that you really have to spend time unpacking it because they pack the whole thing so tightly and securely. The instruction manual is clear, and they actually boil the entire assembly process down to eight really easy steps.

I am fairly fit, and I am satisfied with the resistance of the rower. There are eight levels of resistance, and I am very happy spending time on level five and six, knowing that there are extra levels of resistance there should I need it. E.g. A good amount of time on level six, watching a tv programme on the tablet (on the tablet holder) is fine. I have their exercise bike along with a treadmill and a heavy bag in my lockdown home gym. This rower fits in very nicely with the set up. All in all – money well spent.

Easy to assemble. Footplates not the best but fine, could do with a washer perhaps.
Computer is basic but ample for my needs, tablet holder is a nice touch.
If serious rower, design doesn’t suit correct action as not enough clearance beyond feet, but for fitness purposes it’s fine.
Resistance is fine for strong people and the air outlet is great for keeping you cool.

Did a lot of research before buying this. Really happy with it and use it several times a week. I’m a heavy built (rugby type) guy so wanted something sturdy that won’t collapse below me. This is really sturdy. Would have been 5 stars but there is a shelf that you can put your phone or tablet on so you can watch programs while you row and unfortunately the secure bar which holds the phone/tablet in place does not stretch big enough for my old ipad. Instead my ipad just balances on it. Very happy with this machine.

If you don’t want to pay mega bucks for a home rower I can recommend this piece of kit. A good mid range rower, delivered on time, which is saying something during the Covid-19 crisis. The rower is self assembly and is well packaged, watch out for the weight as it’s about 40kgs. The rower comes with its own tool pack but would recommend you use your own sockets or spanners. The assembly instructions were ok but 4 small parts attaching the railway to the fan assemble were not mentioned, took me a few minutes to find out where these went. It took about 50 minutes to assemble, some parts are a bit fiddly and you may want another pair of hands to help. Once assembled the rower is sturdy and feels like the real deal when you get on it. The ride is smooth and the resistance levels are ok. Obviously this is not up there with the ‘Concept 2’ or commercial kit you get at your local gym but for home use it is about the best you can get without paying over the odds. My family and I have been using it every day since we took delivery and it has held up well. No problems thus far. A good aerobic workout. Worth the money.

I’ve had this for a couple of months now and am very happy with it. It’s very similar to the type I used to use down the gym, so feels very familiar.

The display is very simple to use and you can either log your distance and time, or use race mode. Race mode has 15 levels and I’ve rapidly got up to level 12. Level 13 is just out of reach at the moment – all in good time. I started doing 1000 metres on resistance level 1, which was an effort at the time. In two months I’ve progressed to 2000 metres on resistance level 3. So the machine is going to last me a good long time as I get fitter and stronger. I wasn’t bothered about Bluetooth or integrating with apps and smartphones, so the simple setup of the display is fine for my purposes. It shows stroke rate and watts being generated as well. I’d say the display is a bit on the cheap plasticy side, but it does what it’s supposed to…

The overall build is solid, but be prepared to assemble everything. It’s very easy to follow the instructions, but the bigger parts take a bit of wrangling if you’re on your own. The only minor quibble is that the bolts which hold the foot rests keep loosening with use. But they’re very easy to tighten with the supplied spanners, so I just keep that handy and give it a tweak as necessary. Tons of packaging and polystyrene too, so be prepared for a full wheelie bin or a trip to the tip. They could probably do more to reduce this, especially the polystyrene.

It’s very easy to fold up and move around out of the way. You just unscrew the locking bolt, tip up the rail and push through the locking bolt. Then you can tip the whole thing up and wheel it along.

Overall it’s comfortable, easy to use, sufficiently challenging to keep someone who is unfit to moderately fit occupied, and decent build quality. Better than the cheap ones, better because of the air resistance, but maybe not as good as the expensive ones. But just right at this price point.

This is the second JLL machine I have purchased. In 2015 I bought an exercise bike which enabled me to lose about 2 stone in 4.5 months and get fit after years of couch surfing! Like me, it’s still going strong.
After a lot of research into rowing machines I decided on this one, the Ventus 2. I trusted the brand and it seemed to occupy that sweet spot between the cheap and the expensive. It took me a couple of hours to assemble without any problems. It seems to be a really solid machine made of of high quality materials.
I’ve only used it a few times but so far it’s been a very positive experience. The action is very smooth and it has that reassuring ‘swoosh’ noise that the air rowers at the gym have! Very happy with my choice.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersPremium rowing machine at a reasonable price.
Looked long and hard for a gym quality rowing machine at a reasonable price and this is it. Impressed that it has both air and magnetic resistance. I like that you can direct the air to help keep you cool whilst you exercise. Definitely recommend.

High quality machine at a very reasonable price & construction is not difficult.
Reasonable display (can be difficult to see in the dark)

Golden Review Award: 36 From Our UsersGreat value, top quality rowing machine
This is my 4th rowing machine and I’m really pleased with the rowing action of this machine.

Product is very sturdy and well made, easily as good as a concept 2 rowing machine with out price tag.

It’s very heavy, 40 kilos in weight. It’s a one person job to assemble, but it’s will take about an hour – much of which is spent pulling sellotape off all the parts – it’s bordering on the ridiculous how much packaging there is.

If you’re looking for a decent rowing machine – I’d recommend this one – 5 stars from me.

Great rower that I use pretty much everyday. Use it mainly for HIIT workout and makes me work hard. Good as the rowers at the gym.

Handy that you can fold it up when not needed. Was delivered fast.

Golden Review Award: 42 From Our UsersA sturdy and good value home rowing machine
This rower sits nicely between entry level ‘budget’ rowers and (very expensive) professional ones and you definitely feel you have got good value for your money.

The JLL staff are extremely helpful and they have a showroom where you can actually see each of their models together which emphasises how close this model is to their top of the range unit.

Assembly was straightforward with good written instructions and also an online video showing the major steps (the only thing missing from the video is actually getting the parts out of the box which does take some
time as they are extremely well packed and secured with tape). One piece of information not in the manual is the weight of the main unit which is preassembled and is just under 22kg. There were some minor errors in the printed manual that was included in the box but most of these have already been corrected in the downloadable version. There was only one minor manufacturing defect with the unit on the mounting points for the left hand footplate which was easily resolved with the addition of a couple of washers to ensure the mounting bolts tightened fully.

In operation, the rowing action is very smooth with the belt system much better than the chain system of my previous rower. The seat is also comfortable with 2 rollers on top of the rail and one below giving a stable motion. The addition of an air vent directing the fan output towards you and helping to keep you cool is very welcome and the tablet mount is also a useful feature. Folding the rail is simple and bprovides a secure arrangement to minimise the footprint when not in use.

    Positive points
    – A very sturdy and well designed rower with several features that differentiate it from similarly priced units
    – Extremely well packaged to ensure safe transportation
    – Simple and secure folding to reduce space
    – Fan airflow vent to provide cooling air
    – Smooth action with easily adjusted magnetic resistance
    – All necessary assembly tools included
    – Full A4 printed manual including an exploded diagram of the rower and detailed assembly and operating instructions

    Negative points
    – There were some minor errors in the manual included in the box (e.g. only one hex allen key is provided and required but two are listed in the contents) however many of these have already been corrected in the online version of the manual.
    – There was one minor manufacturing defect on the left hand footplate mounts that needed the addition of a couple of washers.
    – Changing the batteries on the monitor requires it to be removed from the bracket.
