The finish and look of the product is very nice the only downside is setting it requires a lot of patience. The first times I tried, I was only able to put it on three times within one hour while it kept falling as I made adjustments with what I tried to prop on top. However, now in this video you can see that I can put it on more comfortably and now taking a couple of minutes instead of 20-30 minutes.

I believe the key thing is doing it softly, you’re not trying to push it down, you are just slowly lowering it on. I find keeping two fingers on either side help me make micro adjustments when I feel the force is a bit too heavy on a certain side. You should be able to see what I mean about having four fingers surround it in the video. Also, having a finger underneath on each side is good to soften the crazy bang that comes when it slams down when you make a mistake but with patience you can do it and watch the few videos online that help give you encouragement that it’s doable.

Also, the last 10 seconds of video shows that it does a continuous 360 when placed properly although depending on what you’re trying to balance you may be stuck with that first 180 turn. So in the end I’ll give this 4 starts because I really like it as it looks great and is silent but if you don’t have patience, this is not for you.

    Negatives:

    – Initial impressions of this product were concerning, not the least because the main bold title on the box was spelt “Gravity ChallenCer” rather than “Gravity Challenger”. It looks rather unprofessional, and doesn’t do a lot for expectations or first impressions.

    – Even the instruction booklet itself notes that it takes a certain level of skill to place the floating platform above the base, and provides a number of external sources for help should the user struggle. Additionally, if you take more than a couple of minutes to make it work, the base begins to overheat and needs to be turned off for a while.

    – The power indicator is an obnoxiously bright bulb that cannot be turned off. It can quite easily flood a small room entirely with a lime green glow, which isn’t a neutral colour either. Fortunately my desk’s setup just happens to have a similar green accent to it, so it’s not *too* out of place.

    Positives:

    – The build quality appears to be very well made. Everything feels solid with no “cheap” impressions of any of the materials.

    – The machine is absolutely silent, and can hold an impressive amount of weight for it’s size.

    – Once the platform is put in place, the base no longer overheats. I can have it running for hours with no issues at all.

    – When practicing to put the platform above the base, mistakes can quickly end with the platform slamming onto the base with tremendous magnetic force. I had genuine concerns for damage each time, but the base held up very nicely to the abuse. There were never any marks, dents, or scratches to be found. Again, a testament to the surprising build quality of the product.

    Closing Comments:

Despite the red herrings of misspelled titles, warnings of overheating, and previous buyers struggling to use it, I have actually come to be pleasantly surprised with this product. It *does* take some practice to set up correctly, and it takes a good amount of patience (I would highly recommend setting aside half an hour to try and get it right if you haven’t done it before).

This product is best placed in a high place, where the levitation can be viewed at eye-level. It is perfect for model space ships, aircraft, baby aliens or blue police boxes. Remember not to leave power on to the base without the platform for too long to avoid overheating.

    Additional advice:

Personally, I believe I have a reliable way to place the platform above the base.

Under normal circumstances, you can feel the magnetic force of the base repel the platform with equal force in all directions before letting go if it is set correctly. If you can feel the platform start to push to one side, then you’ve placed it incorrectly. The trick is as follows:

The key to success is to not try and recover a failed attempt. You can’t just shimmy it to where it needs to be when you feel it start to move off-centre. Lift the platform off entirely, and try again from scratch. The platform needs to be lowered down correctly from the very beginning, you cannot correct it after that point. It won’t work.

Easy to set up and looks great in the dark. Perfect present for my daughter’s 21st, the fact that it is a night light and can spin like a real globe is just awesome

This was a lovely idea for a gift but I didn’t realise it was a desk toy. Because the globe is only 6 inches the writing was too small for me to read. Otherwise it was great.

Our kiddo wanted a flying globe. Well, this one ticked the box just fine. It doubles up as an evening lamp too. Well made and just the right size. Happy with the product.

My 7 year old has requested a globe for Christmas. There are lots to choose from, but this one looked too good to be true.
I opened it up and tried it. I got it to levitate straight away and blew it gently to get it to spin perfectly.
The icing on the cake is how you can get the levitating globe to illuminate with no electrical connections! Truly marvelous. Engineered and built well.
He’s going to absolutely love it.
The bonus is also having the option to have a blue ring on the base illuminate too. Both can be turned on either/or.

Great Novelty, it’s difficult to find something different and fun these days but this is both. Like people have a little difficult to get levitated but persevere as it’s worth it.

What a fascinating table decoration, lovely to look at and I can play around with it all day long. It does takes a bit of practice to get it floating but it is not too difficult. Pro tip… if the base feels hot because you couldn’t balance it for minutes, let it cool down and then try again. No sure why but switching it off and on again also helps me to balance it but the switch seems to only control the lights and nothing else…

Anyway, the base have 3 windows where you can place the included stickers which does look cool already but I will personalize it and put some football stickers of my own and make it special. if you have it in your bed room you can switch off the power and turn off the light and the ball will still float (passive)

Football is coming home or football floating home

I love my lamp / globe it looks wonderful. I had a wee bit of bother getting it going but it was worth it.
read the instructions first, I never normally do but in this case it is essential.
I would say this is a fabulous product well worth the money

In the world of my nephew there’s nothing better than football and in his mind levitation is pretty awesome. So a levitating football beside his bed is basically a dream come true, he absolutely loves it, the fact it spins and acts as a super cool nightlight is a bonus and the base of the device is left blank so it can be customised to the individual. He’s a huge Chelsea fan so I imagine Chelsea will be featured on the base, although I also suggested printing some pictures of his football team to put on it.

Either way the device is brilliant, it is a tad expensive but for my nephew this is one of the best presents he could get and he loves it, to me that makes it worth every penny.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersVert nice rotating globe with different light effects. Very difficult to hover at first. Don’t follow the instructions. Place your fingers under the globe and rotate with your thumbs until it hovers. Takes a bit of pracise.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersLooks great, bit tricky to setup though, requires some patience. If I were to be really picky, the rotation could be slower!

    Looks great.

Brilliant device. Takes some getting used to when setting the disc in place. My advice would be to not spend too long trying to find the right zone close to the base. Instead, pull the disc away and try again, this seems to work better than staying close and overheating the electronics.

    Something magical

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWorks great… once you work out where the magnet sits it holds well. Just lower it and take your time, it sort of clicks into a sweet spot near the centre and isn’t that hard. Read the instructions and you’ll be fine, especially on storing the magnet, did get hot quite quick so not sure on longevity of it as I only used it for about 10 mins floating.
