Will it cost a lot to run?

The approximate running cost of the Smart fan is 1.66 pounds per annum.

Tricke Mode allows the fan to remove stale old air from your home with minimal energy consumption, so there is no fear of large bills as a result.

The boost function only kicks in when required, quickly eliminating excess moisture, reducing the time the unit needs to be working, thereby saving energy.

Humidistat, Pullcord, Timer, Night Time Delay and Constant Flow Sensor

Constant flow sensor – Sensors continuously monitor the environment, only boosting the fans extraction when necessary, reducing energy costs and eliminating condensation as soon as it develops.

The Kair Smart fan can be ceiling, wall or window mounted.

Window Mounted

A window kit (available separately) makes for a simple a speedy installation through any window in your property, allowing the option to still have an extractor fan when cutting through walls is not an option.

Ceiling Mounted

For ceiling or wall mounting, a 100mm (4inch) hole is either cut through the wall to the exterior of your property, or through the ceiling into the loft cavity.

Wall Mounted

The fan can then be ducted straight through to the exterior or loft cavity with a simple external grille for more pleasing aesthetics.

Why Choose the Kair Smart Fan?

Very few extractor fans on the market can be described as “Smart”. The Kair Smart fan differs, it intelligently reacts to its environment, working almost autonomously because of its multiple sensors and the advanced technology associated with them.

Common activities increase the amount of moisture within a home, from washing machines, cooking or having a shower or bath.

It can also vary at any point through the day within a busy home or social housing situation due to peoples differing schedules and hygiene habits. This creates the perfect situation for mould to develop, as there is an abundance of warm and moist air in the property. There are also smells coming from the cooker that might be disagreeable to some of your family members or tenants.

  • Ceiling, window or wall mounted extractor fan to suit any installation type (window kits available).
  • Timers reduce night time activity – Prevents night time noise and saves energy
  • Humdistat measures moisture, only boosting the fan when required, saving energy
  • Cost effective due to low installation and maintenance costs, and energy saving technology.
  • Quiet and aesthetically pleasing

    This Kair product is superb.
I’ve had my fair share of extractor fans that sound like jet engines and this is NOT one of those.
The smart digital control system built into this device means that the unit purrs away on an idle until the fan is boosted by the user defined settings/requirements.
Straightforward to install and easy to ‘program’ with your preferences.
If you are debating whether to spend the modest extra cash on this model, my advice is to go for it because you will not regret it.
p.s. I removed the pull cord switch and extended a cable to a double domestic switch; in this way the fan can be manually boosted to remove steam, if required, without the need for lights remaining on. (Boost function is well covered in the instructions)

I decided to install the vent myself as it was replacing an existing fan. I had to email support and they got back to me that evening which was reassuring.
Spoke with technical support who talked me through the setup process and the fan is now working as advertised.
Great product, good range of settings and the trickle mould is already helping to reduce condensation and mould.
Would highly recommend as a product but also the professional support if required.

Very sophisticated intelligent control features offer wide range of operating regime. Think through in advance how you want it to function to best suit your application.

My toilet feels fresh air, no moisture and noise is so much less compared to my previous fan.
Fully adjustable fan with 3 levels of operation. I enjoy using my toilet now with no disturbing noise and no humidity.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersIf you have an en-suite or a bathroom close to a bedroom then you’ve probably had the desire to either make the extractor fan quieter or shorten how long it runs for after the light is turned off due to noise. Unfortunately if you shorten the timer too much or turn down the fan speed you end up with damp problems.

This fan works really well, since the humistat, which works well, allows you to have a high (and therefore noisy) fan speed after a shower or bath and it will run until the bathroom is back to your houses “normal humidity”.

However you can have a lower fan speed (and hence noise level) for when the light switch is on. This is perfect as the fan can be setup such that it’s only audible outside of the bathroom after you’ve taken a shower bath. The “run on” timer is also adjustable, so you can have the fan switch off straight away when you leave the bathroom, perfect for middle of the night use to minimise disturbing sleeping.

    Practicalities
Making adjustments to the settings is easy as the face plate is magnetic. I had to adjust the humistat trigger level down as the normal moisture level of my house was triggering it.

I made my life difficult by playing with the pull cord before installing since the pull cord was left in “on” position so the fan was just running at full chat no matter the circumstances or settings. I had hidden the pullcord in the unit, so I had to take it apart again to put the pull cord in to “off” and then rehide the pull cord in the unit.

When you connect the power, either from fuse box or isolator switch the light switch for the bathroom needs to be in “on” position. Otherwise it will run continuously when the switch is off and turn off when you turn the switch on.

The only annoying thing is that the humistat won’t trigger until the light is off. So if you take a shower with the light on, it will run at the normal speed and then will only switch to the level you’ve chosen for the humistat when the light goes off. This is a bit annoying as I had the normal speed as pretty low to be quiet and then a fast speed when things got wet and I had to adjust the normal speed up as it was getting too steamy while showering.

Had this in my bathroom for a year and a half now. Glad I paid the premium for it. It works really well. It comes on automatically according to humidity levels you can set and has a booster high speed venting setting too. It’s not noticeably noisy, does the job and looks sleek and modern.

My installation site was in a bathroom immediately above fixed total wall mirror and therefore no room to insert screwdriver to release fan housing once installed. One of the small fixed lugs broke whilst trying to remove plate which I was lucky enough to glue back in place, slightly disappointed with noise level, apart from that, great performance features

Excellent product and technical assistance. I bought this product few months ago but had problems with installation as it was continuously noisy. So I called Kair main office in Sidcup and was directed to Phill who helped me fix the problem by directing me step by step without minding how much time it took, he also checked with me the next day if it’s working alright. I’m very pleased with the product and the customer support really topped it.

Purchased this as a replacement for a silentt100 fan. Difference is night and day. Easily installed using a SL (Switch Live) or can use a pull cord, the pull cord can be removed or tucked into ceiling and just run off the SL.

Suction levels are adjustable so you can set to what ever you like very powerful. Even on maximum suction it’s not very noisey. Can change timer settings to adjust when the fan cuts off after shower/light is switched off. Also has a humidity adjust options so fan will turn on and run on boost until the humidity drops.

Have used this fan to replace a noisy unit made by another brand. Install was easy. Setup easy. Noise level on constant flow minimal. Despite a back draft flap I have had to disable the constant volume setting due to back pressure on unit when windy causing the fan to modulate. Other than that all is good. Recommended with good reason.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGreat product does exactly what is says I had problems with condensation building up in bathroom and walls going black due to the old fan not getting rid of the steam from shower. Now since decorating and putting in this fan it gets rid of it and there is no bull up on the walls. Once you put the right settings to suit its brilliant.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersBought this extractor for a shower room as my tenants take very hot showers and even when opening a vent the ceiling was full of mould after 6 months of use.
After redecorating the bathroom I installed this extractor and has made an enormous difference as they mould problem has been completely eliminated. 6 months later it is still working as new just a bit noisier.
    Definitely recommended.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersWe have a drying room and I needed a vent fan. This has proved to be excellent! A word of warning though, I set it up and then it stopped working and I was going to return it. I spoke to Kair who were very helpful. THIS FAN DOES NOT WORK WITHOUT ITS MAGNETIC COVER! I put it on and now it works fine! An excellent fan!

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersI purchased this fan as a replacement for a cheaper one that I installed a couple of months ago that never worked properly from the start.
I have to say you get what you pay for, this fan was more expensive but worth every penny.
comes on every time we have a shower gets rid of the steam quickly, has many different functions.
unlike the cheap fans you do not need to take the fan apart to alter the settings the magnet face is just genius !
I would recommend this fan, I’m so glad i spent the extra money and got a quality fan that actually works when its supposed to.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersThe fan has an option to continuously work in trickle mode, has a comfort boost mode which is activated by the humidistat or timer and a boost mode which is activated with the cord/switch.
The speed of each mode can be adjusted. The timer and humidistat is also adjustable. Continuous mode can be switched off as well.

The lowest trickle speed (4) is super quite.
Do not throw the manual otherwise it is very difficult to set this up.

    Update:
I am so happy with my purchase that I bought a new one for my second bathroom.
Also, the instructions were send to my email from the seller (without asking) which is very good because as already mentioned, the manual is very important to set this up.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersEasy to fit. When on idle it’s so quiet you can hardly hear it. I had issue with auto timer, when set to auto it just was on fast all the time. I set the timer to 5 mins and that fixed it. It automatically switches to fast when it detects humidity level is up, then drops down to idle 5 mins later when bathroom is steam free. It also has a boost mode so you can manually set it to super fast.

    Looks really good too.

Golden Review Award: 26 From Our UsersThe product arrived quickly and is as described. I was slightly surprised it’s as small as it is and this presented a small problem as it was replacing a larger unit. Nevertheless fitting was simple and the unit is both powerful and quiet.

I like that it is smart enough to be programmed. I originally set the hydrostat to turn off when humidity dropped below 65% but swiftly discovered that base humidity was closer to 70% so it never turned off! Fortunately you can adjust the auto off to 65, 75, 85 or 95%. Once I worked that out it was great.

You can select to have a continual trickle extraction which is whisper quiet. I can hear it when I’m in the room but even though it’s our on suite I have to concentrate to notice it when I’m in the bedroom.

The magnetic faceplate makes adjustment easy. Although I chose not to use the pull cord, having fitted the extractor I’m not convinced it would be terribly robust but I haven’t used it so I can’t criticise.

This unit has great flexibility and can do manual on/off, switched on/off, trickle run, hydrostat triggered boost, and timed over/run modes and all fully adjustable. Expensive but you get what you pay for.

    I would recommend this product.

Golden Review Award: 21 From Our UsersThis extractor fan was bought to replace an outdated old-fashioned fixed speed fan that had given up the ghost after only 2 years and was not very good when it was working albeit noisily!

The Kair Smart Fan CRE100HTP is feature packed and comes with a 5-year warranty! It can be installed in all sorts of locations; we are using it in a bathroom. It can be mounted traditionally through the wall or in the ceiling or loft floor and then ducted to the outside. The fan has a constant flow mode to overcome the static pressure that ducting adds see more about this further in the review. The fan can be fitted pretty much plug and play out of the box very simply by following the in depth installation guide that came in the box which explains all the features. Once everything was setup and running, we had the option to set the fan speed from the default speed to high speed by pressing the buttons, which adjust the speed output. In high there is a clearly audible rush of air through the fan and at low speed the airflow is just about audible inside the bathroom with no vibration but there is no sound outside the room.

It was pretty much a straight swap from the previous fan. It is small, slim and when on you can just about hear it. I had to check to see if it was on. This is down to the DC Brushless Motor, which also happens to save energy in comparison to traditional noisy motors. The humidity sensor certainly works – after taking a shower or cooking in another room, moisture in the air is enough to activate the sensor and the fan starts to speed up this is known as the comfort boost mode, again fully configurable speed options. You do not even have to use the humidity function if you do not want. Instead, you could opt to just use the fan via a light switch or the pull cord but the humidity sensor is a feature that should be used as that is what makes this fan smart. There are standard boost speed options as well which is the speed the fan will run at when the pull cord or light switch has been activated (8, 13, 15, 18, 20 or 25 l/s)

I like the design especially the magnetic cover, which clips into place and the fan will not run for safety if this is removed in use. The cover keeps everything tidy and sleek looking when in place.

There are five fan speeds to choose from plus options to have the fan run constantly at a trickle speed (again configurable as to how much air it moves: 4, 6, 8, 10, 13 l/s or off.)

Trickle ventilation is so important these days in our sealed up insulated homes, this ensures that a “trickle” of air is constantly extracted from the home eliminating stale air which then causes mould and damp to develop. As mentioned earlier if you install the fan with ducting to the outside there are even options for the fan to run with a constant volume — great for long duct runs. This feature works via a pressure sensor built into the fan, This detects if the fan has to work harder or ease off dependant on atmospheric conditions, if it is windy outside it might need to run faster etc. or if all your internal doors are closed the fan will find it harder to move air at the set speed so it will speed up to be able to continue to pull the air at the rate you have set using the buttons. Likewise, in the summer if your doors and windows are open the fan will not have to work as hard to extract air, as there is less static pressure inside the room.

Everything looks easy to clean, there are no nooks and crannies and a large air inlet grill behind the fascia panel will prove easy to keep clean with a brush or vacuum.

Another great feature for property owners is the ability to view the run hours, so for example if you install this in a property, you own to control humidity and get complaints from the tenant that there is mould or damp in the bathroom this fan gives you the ability to see how many hours the fan has run for. Many times tenants turn these fans off to stop the air movement and this will show if the tenants are keeping the fan running or not using it. Without airflow or extraction, the indoor air quality will become very poor and lead to damp and mould and subsequent property damage.

I would love to see a bigger version of this fan with a centrifugal impeller as this would be excellent for kitchens or larger rooms. The features of this fan make it easy to use especially the LED display that show you the options with large easy to press buttons. The addition of a backdraft shutter in the box would also be a good option to have especially on through the wall installations or if you do not use the trickle functions.
