The guru in our office ran several test between this and a fluke, to see how accurate it is. He was extremely impressed how close the two performed. Especially since the fluke was $500. I bought it for the Megger function. Has worked great for me.

This meter works well and has a valid Canadian electrical certification.
It works well, has a nice backlight and a comprehensive range of test voltages making it suitable for communication cables up to 600 volt equipment.
I would like a better set of silicone test leads, however the clips supplied are a nice size for bus bar.
I would buy this again, and would order the magnet hanging strap with it.

Has a very useful continuous lock feature great for testing out insulation. It feels fairly heavy duty and holds well in the hands. Definitely recommend this.

Works great for small motors maybe 15 hp or less. Wouldn’t use to test on anything bigger. Great for proving a small motor is bad or going bad

It lacks the functions of the higher dollar versions...it also lacks the really high price. Excellent value for the money, just be aware of it's limitations. I use this for testing motors and elements for a "pass/fail" or "good/bad" result. I'm not calibrating anything, and not using the measurements for calculations (though it probably is that accurate). It's a useful tool to prove your findings when customers ask how you know a component has failed.

Works as it should seems well built works good if you do a lot of testing on motors don't know how it would work on testing insulation on long wire runs to tell if the insulation is good don't think it is powerful enough

There’s one little flaw about this meter and that is the alligator clips are a little flimsy based on strength. For the money you can’t beat it. It’s the 1 complete meter that does what an electrician needs for the A to Z JOBS!! Megging to measuring voltage it’s a great meter for the money….

I’m an electrical technician. I bought this due to the shops fluke disappearing all the time. It’s frustrating trying to troubleshoot when tools disappear. Solution, have my own. Great price and let’s me check for shorts in our ac and dc motors.

Puts out dcv like it should to measure large impedances. Not necessary to get this one unless you understand why you need it and how to use megohms function safely. It has some other handy functions that many less costly units have. Seems like fair quality for the money, not flu__ though. Career EE happy to have as a personal tool 4 occasional home use.

This insulation tester gets used daily for three phase pump station start ups and motor troubleshooting. Performs great, very accurate. I would definitely recommend this as it performs just as well as a fluke.

Installing heated floor systems require a megometer for before and after install. The Klein was about the middle of the road pricewise but a very good tool.

I am very happy with this purchase. This meter is built like a tank and has a good level of accuracy. I bought it solely for the purpose of testing AC compressor insulation and so far it’s worked really well. No more guessing if somethings shorted to ground or if the insulation is weak. I was really surprised to get a meter of this quality for the price point. I did go ahead and buy the magnetic strap afterwards and if you’re going buy this meter you probably ought to get it to. The Magness very strong and it makes it very convenient for hanging on AC units.
I needed a Megohmmeter to test the floor heating system for Ditra-Heat. I found this meter and wasn’t sure if it met the manufacturer specs. I called Schluter and spoke to an engineer who verified this met the requirements. I’ve used it for 3 floor installations so far. Less expensive than other meters but does the job perfectly.
Easy to use; just select proper supply voltage and run test. Works perfectly for checking electrical health of my deep submersible well pump.

I have been using the supco megohmmeter to check AC compressors and motors, but the value alone right off the bat is great, volts, continuity, ohms. That alone is most of my work. The megohmmeter is fantastic! A lock button and a scale over the digits, leads that come out when not using them and dont have to worry about throwing it in your bag, Backlit screen, a stand, great feel to it also. You have to trend your own readings and do math, but it can do all the tests you need to, spit, dar, pi. Im using the fluke banana extensions and am using fluke clamps on this meter, and all I can ask for is more motors to test lol. This item is phenomenal. Compared all of the readings agenst my fluke multimeters, and this meter is right there with them, and its protected in cat 3 and 4 1000 and 600 volts respectively. Awesome meter!
I love this megohmeter. It was the first meter from Klein I’ve ever used. I’ve found myself using this one more than my fluke 87. Don’t get me wrong, the fluke is an amazing product but if I ever need to replace it I’m probably going to save myself $500 and by the Klein equivalent.
Almost Fluke quality at half the price. Other than the test leads being a little chintzy… which can be replaced with better ones, this is a great meter / megger. As an electrical contractor, I don’t use this tool daily, but I have used it often. It seems to be accurate and very durable. I would definitely buy it again if I needed to.
This meter has been very useful. It replaced an old style that was in a medium size hard plastic case. This is more portable just wish the cords had a better management system.

A professional quality tool for Electrician’s.
This is one heavy duty multimeter. It’s designed for high voltage applications so it’s definitely aimed at the professionals out there. Build quality of the unit is outstanding and it comes with a nice carry case that can hold the multimeter and it’s accessories. The display is large, clear and the backlight makes it easy to see in low light situations.
It comes with a fully insulated set of clamps for safety which is just as well when your dealing with high voltage electrics. Accuracy seems great when I tried it out though I didn’t use it with any voltages that were too crazy. It has a built in stand that makes it super easy to use.

It is a good sturdy piece of kit that won’t be broken easily and feels much stronger and weightier than cheaper versions that we have had previously. It requires 6 x aa batteries which are included and it is very straight forward to use. It also comes with a carry case for protection. We have had some great quality items from klein tools.
Brilliant Build, Very Accurate Reading
I was a little taken aback by the price of this initially as my partner has gotten through a a fair few of the cheaper multimeters over the years, both through device failure and him leaving them at random jobs/sites but has also now had for a fair while what I considered to be quite an expensive one which he takes good care of and in terms of function and build was well worth the extra compared to his ‘disposable’ ones, but it was still only just over half the price of this. This has pretty much all the exact same features and really the only main difference are the layout slightly and the build – this is noticeably much more solid and feels like it will survive a little bit more rough and tumble and does feel like a very heavy duty serious bit of kit. It’s marginally more accurate seemingly and a little quicker and more intuitive to use. If you need to replace an existing top end model for any reason then it’s definitively worth shortlisting for the build quality and accuracy (or if your job requires very accurate site analysis/reporting then also a good choice) and likewise if you’re tired of cheaper ones giving up the ghost after 6 months or so and want something much more solid and long-term.

Klein Tools Megohmmeter does a great job, I will be honest I didn’t have a clue what these did, my husband was raving about it. We have other Klein tools, and he has found them to be great quality, this Is solidly built and does exactly what you need it to. The other thing that shows this is great, it’s the fact it comes with batteries, which when you have 6 of them its good. Great tools and great products.

I am basically using this as a glorified multimeter as I have no requirement to do insulation tests on 3 phase feeds etc, but, based on the usage I have had, I can say its an extremely well built unit and is really easy and straight forward to use. I have just installed some outdoor sockets to power the Christmas lights and this was invaluable through the process as including testing before powering up the new circuit. I have a few Klein thing and have to say they are all well made and seem to be good value for money for professional users.
Great Megge
This is a solidly-built, reasonably-priced megohmmeter/multi-meter. This piece of kit is handy to check for cuts or voltage loss on wires if you have the knowledge and competency. Anyone flocking out to buy this will know what they are doing so I just cut to the chase, a few cons:
-I did not like the connection of the wires to the crocodile clips which looks a little flimsy
-The caps that are covering the clips can potentially slip down if not careful
-Prefer the testing probes handle in silicone, these are only plastic

Somewhat surprised that 150 precision instrument comes in a blister pack. I assume this is American marketing and that they have very strong racks. weighing in at just over 1kg, you won’t get many of these on a rack.
That aside, When I eventually broke into the frustration packaging, it revealed a high quality well built instrument. NOT a pocket DMM but a large easy to read display with solid positive controls and buttons.
I get the impression that this meter will withstand the abuse and rigours of field work, as well as offering the features and accuracy of bench and lab requirements. The meter offers resistance testing/ megohmmeter/ PAT testing up to 1000v at 4000MOhms for insulation checks, as well as accurate true RMS VAC, VDC Continuity test and resistance. There is no ranges to select as this is auto ranging, also no current test, capacitance, NCV, or temp testing available.
Klein have kept the options plain and simple on the ET600 but added a built in zero calibration button for accuracy and quality over masses of features. In this respect it offers controls that do one thing only, without the complication of needing to select options and sub-menus.
The screen, although large and well laid out it suffers the usual low contrast of black digits on dull grey background, with an increased contrast only appearing when the meter is slanted forward at about 45 degrees from parallel to your eyes. Turning on the backlight improves the readout considerably, as the backlight is well dispersed over the screen without high/ low spots. The screen also displays a curved bar graph style visual indicator, adding analogue style of feedback for measurements.
When testing continuity, The audio beep is very weak and not loud enough for many industrial or factory environments. There is also no visual LED indicator for continuity, only the change of resistance indicated on the readout. If I was checking CONT. in noisy environments, I would prefer a more definitive indicator.
Insulation tests are the key feature of this meter and the left side of the rotary selector are dedicated to selections of 125/250/500/1kv options. The top of the meter also dedicates a large lock button and test button for resistance checking. The lock button allows for the behaviour of PI and DAR. If you are not familiar with these terms referring to Capacitance charging leakage current and Polarisation absorption leakage current, then do get training prior to carrying out system pressure tests with a megohmmeter.
During my training, I was encouraged to setup resistance checks so that I could test a system with one hand, as this is a further step to safe working. However, unless you can clamp onto both conductors, you have to use at least one pencil probe, with a push button built in to engage the circuit. The probes on this kit do not have a push button option, so you do need to use the supplied insulated crocodile clamps for resistance tests. Having said that, the lock button does allow you to use a hands free test, once you have clamped onto the terminals.
The meter is generally a well built, no fussy gimmicks tool that sits somewhere above many cheaper varieties but a little below the Fluke IT will provide safe and accurate readings in test and calibration situations thanks to the initial ZERO button setting for voltage and resistance.
Recommended, but (-1 star) for the low screen contrast at parallel viewing and inferior continuity function. On a professional grade machine, if you add a function, it must be as good if not better than the same thing on a cheaper variety.
The kit includes 6 AA batteries as these is required to power the voltage multiplier for HV testing. Also a set of pencil probes and HV resistance clamps, all in a zip case. A good instruction manual and more details on the Klein website. I’ve been harsh on the continuity test and screen, because this is not a cheap meter. However the main functions of test and measurements are excellent and I believe reliable.
Solid device with great safety features
If you’re in the market for one of these you’re probably a professional and need something you can depend on for work. From what I have been able to use this for so far I’m very impressed and it has worked flawlessly. I haven’t tested it to the full 1000v however everything else works well. The unit itself is built well with a solid stand and rubberised surround when holding it. The dial and buttons are easy to use and the screen has large digits easy to see.
If you connect something with live voltage it sounds an alarm and gives you the voltage passing through.
It comes with the batteries you need 6 AA’S and these are hidden below the stand and can be accessed with a screw driver.
It’s a quality item and does everything it promises. Hopefully my review has been helpful.

I like how chunky this is it is certainly built very well, only had a chance to test the 250v range so far but it’s very accurate and easy to read also, the built-in stand works well and the alarm tone and lock functions work very well, all in all this is a full on-site ready professional Multimeter, I highly recommend this.
Great meter for the price. I haven’t tried the Fluke megger but I’d say this one is enough. If I know Fluke (which I do) they’re just charging you the extra 350$ to have instant readings and brand recognition, to impress coworkers

Decent value. Less than half the price of a fluke. Not as good quality as a fluke but I only need the insulation checker half a dozen times a year. So if you are using that feature infrequently buy this meter.
Good value especially compared to what Fluke charges for a similar tester. Especially since I don’t need it every day. I’ve tried this one on multiple 240V motors and so far so good.

Haven’t used it for insulation testing yet but will update when I do. Build quality is really nice. I’ve used the fluke 1507 megger a lot and I’d say this is just as high quality as it was. Better actually, the way Klein has the grips molded into this meter is very nice. The screen is clear, everything is how it should be. It’s a 1000 v megger which is what I need. Also this megger goes to 4000 M ohms. The fluke goes to 11000 I believe. Don’t think this is a big deal as at that range you’ll usually know if the wire or equipment has failed. Maybe if you’re testing large industrial equipment you’ll need that but for most application you can’t beat the price of the Klein and the quality. Some other known brands are twice the price if the Klein and only go to 1 or 2000 M ohms anyway. This unit is sturdy and doesn’t creak when you twist it.

Been using it for megging and it works great, I have also set up some experiments where I purposely had a short from a dead short to small leaks in the insulation and it picks them up.
This megohmmeter has all of the features needed to make a through check of a motor. It is capable of measuring ac/dc volts, resistance, diode testing, and mego at different voltages.
Use it at work everyday dose the job just as good as a fluke
