Offering a contemporary twist on a classic design, the rungs of our traditional-style clothes airer are made from aluminium rather than wood to help prevent your clothes being marked or stained while they dry. Grooves in the base allow you to choose between two height settings, and little wooden bars at the bottom twist into position to hold everything securely in place. When you’re finished, just twist them back and concertina the airer closed into its compact, easy-to-store shape.

Sturdy
Bought this as the metal ones kept breaking at the legs. This is brilliant, however, only enough space to hang out 1 wash, whereas with the cheap metal ones, you could get 2 loads of washing hung. Price is expensive for what it is.
Sturdy & Useful
Necessary to have one in the house now it’s impossible to dry things outside.
This looks fine in the house, being wooden.
It’s sturdy and manoevrable when assembled as the based has a ‘lock’ to keep it from collapsing. A decent buy & certainly fit for purpose.
Folding Drier / Aire
This versatile drier/airer can be used indoors or outside. It is well built and strong, easy to erect, and will fold down really small for storage. This is my second drier so with the extra hanging space, I will be able to finish all my laundry in one day, and have no need of the tumble drier.

Like that this takes up so little space when folded yet when in use holds a lot of washing. I put it up in my utility room to dry and air the clothes as the sun streams in through this window.

After going through 3 metal ones in a year I decided to try this. Well worth the money . I’m sure this will last years
Practical but expensive
Our nice looking, wooden Ikea fully wooden dryer started to look unsavoury with dark grey stains in its horizontal bars. It clearly had a design flaw in not being coated.
This dryer rack with aluminium rungs is slightly more voluminous and therefore offers more space to dry clothes. Moreover it will not have the stain problem and will therefore will be much more durable. Having said that, the two wooden clips on the base to secure its position, seem a bit flimsy.
It stands sturdy on its own and can be put in two different height positions.
It looks nice and elegant and kind of matches our bathroom style, where we typically put it in front of a radiator panel. But I must admit I would have preferred a full aluminium or full wooden rack, personally I don’t like the combination of the two materials. Still it’s a very practical dryer, that folds neatly.
I rate it 4 stars only mostly because of the high price point.

Maybe a bit flimsy – I wouldn’t like to hang very heavy, wet blankets on it, for example but for everyday clothes, sheets, pillowcases etc its fine
I use it upside down to have more poles to hang clothes
Bought as my cat broke 4 previous metal ones that I had bought from Wilko in his 1st yr and I was at my wit’s end. It is more wobbly but stronger and a 1yr old 6kg cat can attempt to jump it without breaking it. There are less poles to hang stuff so I had to buy 2 so v expensive but it’s a long term investment.
Sturdy
Needed a dryer to take heavier items such as fleece jackets and jeans and this does the trick. My last dryer (not cheap) gave up the ghost after a couple of months so I found this one. Not cheap, but at least it is a tough item and does the job
Best airer!
Really good quality airer. Strong, easy to use and well made. The design means that the airer is locked together at the bottom and so does not bend like our old all metal one So much better that it is well worth paying a bit more for it!

My wife wanted a new airer for the drying room it’s easy to use two height settings the tall setting is good for long item’s she hasn’t complained about anything so it must be good
Fantastic produc
After years of buying tubular airers decided to upgrade and wow what a difference. Delivered early and easy to construct. Fantastic product and would recommend this to anyone. At the end of the day you get what you pay for and this is well worth the extra cost.
Easy assembly
I read that fingers were being trapped. This doesn’t happen if you actually watch what your doing and make sure you twist one side to secure before taking both hands off ti secure the ithe

What I like about this is it is smaller than other concertina clothes horses which means in a small house it doesn’t take up too much space

I did struggle to get the bar into the groove but that’s only because of my mobility & balance problems.

I’ve had 2 other airers from Amazon, the first one you have to put umpteen poles together to make it & those poles kept falling out when trying to put washing on there. The 2nd one is so flimsy a gust of wind blows it over & already after just a few months use one of the legs has started to bend making whole thing unstable , it can be straightened but I think eventually it will just snap as it’s so thin.
But this one the rails are firmly fixed so can’t drop out & heavy enough not to blow over in the wind.
Does the job but a bit pricey for what it is especially as it is made in China to cut costs!
It is sturdy – thus far! Surprisingly, it being a clothes airer we use it to air clothes on!

This dryer is DANGEROUS!!!
One peg or wooden bar for securing my dryer is very stiff, poorly finished and splintered slightly on first use. However when the dryer is secured it is sturdy. Please BE WARNED : While attempting to position pegs the dryer is in danger of collapsing and on the final attempt trapped my finger so violently it split the skin on either side of my nail causing considerable injury.
Looks nice
This airer is more pretty than functional. It doesnt hold as much as other airer’s and the bars are quite thick so you cant use pegs on them. As other reviews mentioned, do watch your fingers! I’ve been OK but my partner was not so lucky and got his thumb trapped as he tried to put it down.

Very good, if a bit splintery
It looks nice, folds out and back in easily and seems to do the job fine. Although the wooden bit that blocks the latch at the stop is a little splintery and flakes of thin wood break off it when moving it to set up the stand. Otherwise it’s great.
Just what I wanted
The product is exactly what I was looking for. Sturdy, lightweight and long lasting. The bars flex slightly with heavy clothing but do not buckle, and regain their position afterwards. I wash clothes all the time, so I never collapse the airer. The bars are aluminium so unlike the wooden versions they do not discolour. Sorted!!!!

Lovely and light easy to use. Folds away and fits in the cupboard under my stairs. Good quality beechwood, with aluminium rails, which prevent wood stains on your washing. Love it!
Brilliant strong aire
Really chuffed with this airer , in the end I purchased another one after the 1st cuz I was so impressed with the sturdiness & quality. Bought for our static caravan as washing lines not allowed on site & would definitely recommend it . Definitely good purchase choices !!
Fully assembled, sturdy but not too heavy, super stylish and I absolutely love the locking mechanism! It has 2 different heights and you can fix it in place with the wooden locking system, so it’s easy to move about in extended mode. I absolutely love it. It looks good and does the job. So pleased I chose this one. It arrived very swiftly too.
Brilliant drye
This was a lot more expensive then I would normally pay for a dryer but I was fed up of buying cheep 20 metal dryer’s that didn’t last much longer than a year so we decided it was false economy to continue doing so. We are very happy with our purchase so far as it seems very sturdy/strong with plenty of room and after a few months of using we can already see it is going to last many years so we would definitely recommend this dryer.

Concertina aire
Great addition to our methods of drying clothes. Sturdy upright with two positions to select from with extended base. Aluminium rails to keep it light and robust. Packs away by folding flat. If your looking for portable clothes airer pay that little extra, I’m glad I did

Strongly recommend this. The metal clothes rods are a big advantage on wooden ones as it removes the risk of marking clothes.
Best clothes surer I’ve had
After having gone through numerous metal clothes airers I decided to spend a bit more hoping it would last longer. Really pleased with this, very sturdy and looks much better too. Because it has a flat bottom and not metal legs I can’t see this breaking any time soon. Definitely recommend it. Wish I’d bought one a long time ago.

Great solution for drying
I’ve had several all-metal airers over the years that do not seem to last and eventually become wonky. This airer is sturdy and very stable. The wooden element certainly makes the airer robust whilst the aluminium rungs are light and sturdy and presumably will not tarnish. The airer was about twice the price of the usual all-metal ones but I have no doubt it will last twice as long at the very least. It offers a good deal of drying space but it doesn’t take up too much space when it is open and fully loaded. Brilliant product!

So far just great and seems plastic free.
This seems more stable than the lightweight tubular metal airers I have used. I am hoping it will last a lot longer and will at the end of its ‘useful life’ be able to deconstruct it and recycle the parts. It does not take up any significantly different space when collapsed and leaves ample room for air to circulate.
I would only comment that the swivel bar on the base used to lock it in position seems a bit flimsy, but it is working fine so far.

Feels a bit flimsy at first. Has to be set on the taller rung to fit many clothes on and it looks a little odd in the tall thin setting but seems OK.
Looks nicer than a metal one and hopefully should last longer….
Lake land clothes aire
Pleased with my new clothes airer, my mum had one similar when I was young, natural wooden structure with steel rods from lake land, cost a little more than I wanted, but still happy, feels sturdy enough for a full wash load, tall enough for duvets /sheets, plenty of rungs
Nice Quality
Well made, sturdy. The aluminium bars are nice and thick, so they do not leave crease marks on your cloths, unlike the typical wire framed types.

Worth the extra money
If you have a tight airing cupboard then this does the job. Very well made, works well in limited space and spreads up to about 5.5 ft and is quite efficient.

Sturdy and look good

Schoir linge parfait quand on a peu d’espace la maison, car il prend peu d’espace une fois pli et rang mais aussi quand il est dploy. Cela fait bientt un an que nous l’avons et ni le bois, ni les barreaux en mtal ne se sont encore dtriors. Et personnellement, compar aux autres commentaires je ne me suis jamais pinc les doigts avec cet tendoir. 😉 Le seul point ngatif est le manque de barreaux que contient le produit.
Well made and sturdy
Ideal, well made and sturdy, easy to put up (I’m disabled and manage it easily) I’ve had 2 of the cheaper metal ones and broke both because of the flimsy materials and build quality, I should have spent the extra at the start! I read the reviews but was sceptical of the bad ones as I have a friend who has one of these and it was good!
Clothes horse
Really like this clothes horse looks great and doesn’t take up much room .
I wanted to buy a clothes horse that was less plastic and hopefully it will be stronger and last longer.
Holds plenty of laundry
This is a clothing rack that isn’t one of the generic metal/plastic type that rusts and quickly looks ugly. The Lakeland Concertina is a great solution to all airing needs; it can be set up in 2 ways so it is tall or shorter and squatter to fit into a smaller space. I love my new airer, which will last a lifetime!
Invest in a quality clothed drye
Love it. A sturdy and well made thoroughbred of a clothes horse. Pay a little extra and free your wet clothes from the flimsy world of rickety wire and white plastic. Solid wood concertina frame with aluminium crossbars. Looks great and does the job perfectly.
Slippery Aire
I bought this model because I liked the idea of the metal rails being easier to clean and wouldn’t go moldy as my last wooden airer did. I didn’t realise they would be as slippy as they are though.

This product from Lakeland so far seems very sturdy and I like it! The very nice delivery man bought it well wrapped and safe contactless delivery. I’m using it right away and so far so good! I’m hesitant to give a glowing review because my other airer from another well known brand I gave a glowing report to and it hasn’t lasted two years so I’m very cross as they cost in the region of 40. Let’s hope this one lasts a lot longer! I’m going by the trusted brand again though ! One drawback might be if you wish to use outside the rungs are rather thick and I’m not sure that items can be pegged but I’m happy enough at the moment and would recommend as it has three heights and is less of an eyesore in my house as the taller you make it the thinner it is! Very happy with that and would suite a small dwelling!

Stylish and Functional
I was apprehensive about purchasing this item, mainly because of the price, it seems a little luxury for Airer. Boy was I wrong. This is exactly what I needed. Functional and fits perfectly with my home aesthetic, so less of an eyesore. Just make sure you don’t load it up too much.
