Top quality features in a small package
I already have another rework station by a different manufacturer, which is touted as being ‘professional quality’. It sure does have many features, and looks the part, but BOY is it big, cumbersome and complicated! Because I don’t use it that often, I pretty much have to go back to the drawing board each time I use it, and have to dig out the manual.

This unit by Lytool in comparison, is a breath of fresh air. It’s intuitive, MUCH smaller and does pretty much everything my other unit can do, but in a smaller, more attractive and easier to use package. And it’s massively quicker to get to temperature. As you can see from the video the soldering iron goes from 40 to 380 degrees in well under 20 seconds. That’s about half the time of my other unit.

You can see from the pictures all of the equipment you get in the box. The only construction required is to fix the hit-air gun bracket to the side. Everything else it ready to go out of the box.

In use it’s quiet and seems to hold temperature well. The iron is comfortable in the hand and does the job well. This is now my usual tool for soldering and rework tasks – my other station is consigned to the cupboard as a spare.

    Totally recommended.

Amazing little unit. Solders great and the heat gun is perfect for the new style solder connectors I have. Also works great for window tint as you can control the temperature to not melt the vinyl.

    Fantastic product!
    Incredible value for money.

The hot air rework station and soldering iron are top notch, and it comes with all of the accessories you could need including desoldering pump, tweezers, sponges and mesh for cleaning the solder tips.

It also comes with five solder tips. The adjustable temperature screen is also very handy and quite accurate. I can’t compliment it enough!

    Quality kit!
Decided to go for a more high end solder station after using some cheaper models that failed along the way.
This certainly has a quality feel when you lift it out of the box. It’s heavy! But so is the solder iron stand – which means it doesn’t move about when you dock/undock the soldering iron. Nor does the iron have a possibility to fall out of it’s cradle. It’s been well designed to fit in snugly without impacting on the ease of removing the iron – which one does obviously does a lot.
Having the brass wire/wool neatly enclosed just beneath the iron is very convenient and save a bit of space.
The iron itself feels well balanced in the hand and there is a ‘grippy’ bit for your fingers.
The solder tips are 600 series. The manual is in reasonable English. You can actually follow the instructions to work out how to turn it on/set temperature/add to memory/temp offset etc.
Setting the temp on the station is easy. It heats up quickly and records the exact temperature continuously. The display is large and easy to read/ergonomic.
It’s divided up in two halves. Button on the left is the iron. On the right is the hot air.
Again it feels well thought out for the user. Typically, you turn the unit on and it reaches your saved temperature in about 10secs and off you go – as you’d want.
The manual also finely details a 2 page list of available solder tips/hot air nozzles and technical drawings of the dimensions.
The hot air gun is new to me. Previously I have been using a DIY hot gun for heat shrinking and desoldering.
This hot air nozzle is light and fits in the hand well. Lowest running temperature is 100C and includes 2 nozzle ends – I think it will be useful for detailed work.
I expect it to last a lifetime and I feel it will.
    Highly recommend.

    Superb soldering statio
This station is perfect for my needs. It is compact and fits in to my limited workspace perfectly, it is simple to use but also has a range of extra functionality if you want to control the heat of the soldering iron or hot air gun. It also sleep when not used, but heats up super quickly

Whilst it is more compact, it is solidly built and has weight to it so does not slide around. I use this for soldering both normal and SMD components, and use the hot air gun for SMD (and shaping acrylic pieces).

    More than happy
Very pleasantly surprised by the performance of this soldering station.
It’s early days as I’ve only had the item for a short while, but early impressions are very good.
You get a soldering iron as well as a hot air gun for easily working on circuits. There is also an external unit for the iron holder and cleaning sponge. It comes with a total of 5 soldering tips and 2 air gun nozzles for precision.
Apart from soldering tips and nozzles you also get tweezers, soldering wire, desoldering pump
Big display with intelligent functions, Fast Heating Up, Sleep Mode, Password Protection and Storage function

Negative -Heat gun is direct connected to the unit-A detachable one would be desirable, but this is not an big issue for me.

    Exceptional professional grade soldering station.
    Unboxing:
The box was large and filled generously with high density springy foam that has been made to fit the station well and protect it in shipping.
The instruction book is first thing at the top, with everything neatly nested beneath. Everything was easy to unpack and get onto the desk.

    Included in the box:
    Manual
Base unit with hot air rework tool wired in
Soldering iron with standard small round pointed tip
4 extra tips, large, chisel, small knife, large knife.
UK IEC power lead (kettle plug)
    Solder sucker.
2 hot air nozzles, small and medium.
    Generous roll of thin solder.
    Angled ESD safe tweezers.
Soldering iron stand complete with both brass wire tip wiper and sponge.
Hot air rework tool stand which fixes to the side of the base unit.

    First Impressions:
It was easy to get onto the bench and plugged in. The iron plugs in with a snapping action to keep in place. The base unit feels very sturdy and has some weight. The whole case seems to be designed as a heat sink for the electronics.
You will need a small screwdriver to fit the hot air rework stand to the base unit.
The solder reel is generous for a free starter, and solders reasonably well.
The cables for the rework tool and iron are of a good length and nice and flexible. Both tools fit well in their holders and fit nicely in the hand.
The solder sucker seals well and will give a good suck to remove solder when needed.
The tweezers come to a nice sharp point and grip well.
Changing nozzles on the rework tool will require a screwdriver, but they fit well when in place.
On turning on the unit goes into a standby mode, with nothing heating up until requested.
The soldering iron stand has holes to the rear to hold the 4 spare tips when not in use.
I really like that the iron stand has both a brass wire wool tip cleaner and a sponge. I generally prefer the brass wool, and it’s possible to put the iron in the holder so that the tip pushes into the wool to clean every time it’s put down.

    In action:
From the home screen long pressing either of the rework or soldering buttons will turn on the respective tool, and then off again. Both can be turned on at once and the display and controls swapped between by pressing the desired tool button.
Both tools heat up very quickly to the set temperature.
The rework tool produces a good quantity of air when at temperature, and will run the fan very quickly to cool down, either when put back into standby, or if a lower temperature is selected. Adjustment of temperature or air flow can be toggled between by pressing the rework button.
The soldering iron also heats up very quickly, with the heat propagating to the tip ready for use quickly too. Despite this the iron has a reasonable thermal mass too, especially with the larger tips, and can be used for bigger joints. Cooling the iron down, either by soldering, cleaning the tip or blowing on the tip produces a very quick response to heat it up again.
Soldering with this was a pleasure.

There are also 3 memories for each tool, with dedicated buttons that can be used to quickly swap between common temperatures when in use. Airflow is also stored for the rework tool. These can be changed via the settings menu while the device is on standby, or saved live if adjusted while working. It is also possible to alter many parameters from this menu, such as the temperature compensation, the sleep and standby behaviour, and even setting a password.

The manual is quite well written and understandable, and also concise and clear, with maintenance instructions too. The order code for the tips and other tips available are also listed in the back.

My only gripes are that the labels for the tool and memory buttons are moulded into the plastic surround with no background colour, so are hard to see. To combat this you could go over them with a marker pen and wipe off the excess to leave some background colour making them much easier to read.
The hot air tool is also permanently wired in. While it’s unlikely that I’ll need to replace it anytime soon, a plug like the soldering iron, even if it was differently coloured, or a different style so they couldn’t be mixed up would be nice. That would also allow the rework tool to be stored away or packed in a drawer to tidy the bench if not required for some time.

    In summary:
I was expecting reasonably good things from the look of the unit, and price, but I was not expecting this quality at this price point. I am blown away by how responsive and capable the iron is, given how light and manoeuvrable it is. Everything seems to be very well made and put together and I expect it to last a good while.
The interface is easy to use and very intuitive and I look forward to soldering more with it.

    Mainly happy
Great to get a quality soldering iron and heatgun all-in-one for a reasonable price. Default settings are fine for me. Changing the settings is a bit of a faff but that’s just me as I’d prefer a simple rotary knob for changing temperature. When I bought it, the pictures led me to believe I would be getting a 0.2mm tip but this was a mistake on the advert and has since been rectified. It now shows a 600-B which should be 0.5mm however the smallest tip I got was in fact 0.8mm. I asked customer support where I could get a 0.5mm tip and though they tried to help, they didn’t really know for sure and I’ve not been able to find one. They offered me a 10 refund which was good of them. Attached is the page in the instruction leaflet showing the tips that are available (but from where, I don’t know). I would still recommend the product though. Also, to their credit, customer support is very responsive.

Great value, decent piece of ki
I’ve been using basic plug in non-variable soldering irons for a while now, and whilst they are okay for basic jobs they just dont cut it for the fiddly tasks.

The soldering station heats up quickly and with variable temp gives better control of what you are doing. It copmes with an assortment of soldering tips, but so far I’ve stuck with the 0.5mm.

I’m yet to use the hot air side of it as I’ve not needed to do any surface mount work, however I have tested it against a high temp thermometer and the output is in line with what I’d expected.

Overall this is a nice piece of kit with a budget price and I would recommend it.

Could come in a case to keep it all neat, tidy and safe when not in use

    More detail:

I bought this specifically because I have components that I need to remove from PCBs and previous attempts using a soldering iron haven’t worked. It’s likely that is in part down to my lack of experience trying to remove components but anyhow, I wanted something that was going to give me quick and reliable results without frying components. After a lot of research, I came to the conclusion that a rework blower (hot air gun) was going to be my best option.

This review will focus mainly on the rework blower because it’s assumed if you buy this, you are serious about your work and will have experience using a soldering iron already. I can confirm that it heats up very quickly being 90 watts and the temperature sensor knows precisely what the tip temperature is.

Super important features include password protection to stop the temperature from being changed by the user or anyone else accidentally, minimising the risk of personal injury or component damage. Another safety feature is the included audible beep heard every time a button is pressed, so even if you did leave the solder station on and either a component knocked it or someone else played with it without the password being set, you would know immediately to check it out. Additionally, the unit includes ESD protection within the soldering tip to avoid damage to ESD sensitive components.

Do not use this without reading the manual first. It’s not immediately obvious how to use and you need to make sure you set it optimally for the work you are doing before starting.

So, to use a rework blower, you need to understand the relationship between heat, air circulation and nozzle size. Get the balance wrong, by keeping the tool in the same place with the wrong nozzle and use too much heat without enough air blowing onto the component and you can damage the component and the PCB. I would strongly recommend pulling a PCB out of something that is broken to practice removing parts before you go near a mobile phone or other expensive device with this tool. Also, start using solder flux (paste) because it significantly reduces the amount of time required to apply heat before being able to remove the part.

The rework blower sits on its stand doing nothing and when you pick it up, it automatically starts operating. As a very rough guide, set the temperature to 400 degrees and let the rework blower get up to temperature. The melting temperature of lead free solder is around 220 degrees, the reason for going almost twice as high is because you want the get the component hot very quickly to remove the part without causing damage to the part, other components or the PCB itself. The correct nozzle size depends on the size of the component you are working with. Set the air speed quite high (but not so high it blows things away). Keep the tool moving around to avoid too much heat in one place for too long. Get your tweezers ready to tug on the component when you see the solder flux disappear and the colour of the solder changes and it turns shiny (indicating that it has gone molten). If it doesn’t move, DO NOT PULL TOO HARD otherwise you will remove the PCB pads (metal contacts on the PCB) and it’s a disaster. Once you are finished, place the rework blower back on its stand and it will keep blowing air until it cools down enough. Do not turn it off at the plug whilst it cools down because that can cause damage to the device, it is designed to keep blowing until it’s finished.

It does the job really well, comes with many accessories and options and based on its design it has a long service life with replaceable parts. It has been well thought out and it’s amazing how much you get for your money.

Be sure to order [[ASIN:B01MRAEY6M]a PCB stand] when you get this because every time I have used a helping hand, I have scratched the PCB (even with heatshrink on the crocodile clips in multiple layers).

Being really picky, I’ve removed a star because a company who clearly thinks over product design very carefully has overlooked an opportunity to make this all encompassing by not including a solder/reel stand and not making it possible to conveniently and safely change nozzles or tips during use. Also, it doesn’t come with a case for safe storage. If these features costed a bit more, I would definitely pay extra for them.

This is a serious bit of kit and no matter what level you are working at, you will not be disappointed based on price and specification.

    Highly recommended.

Great piece of kit, even for a DIY'e
So I am no professional when it comes to soldering and have learned purely through DIY. I already have a TS100 soldering iron which is fantastic if maybe a little small for my hands; I mostly use that for portable soldering jobs.

The reason I bought the lytool station was because I am building my own 3d printers now as well as doing a variety other projects. So I need a good soldering iron that could match or exceed the quality of my TS100, I looked for a bit and did some research and there is a lot of variety, cheap stations and really really expensive ones. I decided to try the Lytool and I can say that so far I am really happy with the purchase. It was packaged really well, it came quickly, it looks great and has pretty much all the tools I would need for soldering/desoldering.

It seemed like the best middle ground in terms of cost and quality/features (the hot air gun is a nice bonus). I have been using the soldering iron to do a lot of the electrical connections for a voron I am building and it has been performing better than I expected. It has great temperature control and range and heats up really fast, I feel like it tins better than my TS100 and so far its been a fair bit quicker to solder with it. It is really easy to adjust the temperature and to start and turn off each function on the station; to be honest there is still a lot I need to learn about it as I’m using just the bare minimum of features right now.

I have a larger heat gun and thats handyy but its quite bulky and its more difficult to control the temperature precisely with it. The heat gun on this rework station is great andheats up really quickly just like the soldering iron. So far I have used it main for heat shrink and cleaning up stringing on 3d prints but I am glad I have something that I can use to deliver precise and controlled hot air cause this will open up the types of projects I can do. As well as improve the professionalism with which I do projects now and how tidy/clean everything looks.

I havent been using it too long so I haven’t had a chance to properly see if there are any negatives. I like the quick disconnect connector for the soldering iron, its also really secure too. Maybe one dissapointment is that there is no where to mount a spool of solder, I feel like that would be a really simple feature to add that would add value to the station. But I can solve that with a custom 3d printed attachment I’m sure.

All in all it seems like a great bit of kit and I will add an update to the review once I’ve had it for longer and have had a chance to properly go over every feature and see how well it performs after a while of use.

    First station, really amazed
I’ve got for my birthday and I’m really surprised.
The whole device is more compact than I thought at first look but it has the weight to stand stable. The soldering iron stand is stable too and I really like the deeper sponge holder.
The grip of the iron is softer then the grip of my cheap one and it’s much better feel.

Both the rework and the iron warm up quickly. Not a flash but I switched on and “ooo it’s ready, nice”.
If I put the rework on its stand it switches to stand by…
The manual is satisfying. Not a lot but I was amazed by temp offset and temp pre-sets.

The only thing that bothers me, I don’t know yet how to silent the beeping when I press a button.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersBest budget performance soldering statio
The soldering station is a compact and great design. Came with soldering iron along with some useful changing bits. Nice protection for the heating element and the best part I see is that the thermocouple which detects the soldering iron tip temperature is nearly connected so knowing the exact tip temperature. The soldering iron is detachable so can be easily replaced with the same model if in near future something happened to the soldering iron.

The soldering iron has three different settings which stored on channel 1 to 3 and setting up directly by pressing the button and can be re-modified according to the application. It heats quickly in less than 40 sec and ready to work on it.
The heat gun disappoints me. In terms of its replacement. It preconnected with the station and can not be removed without expert knowledge of repairing, but this isn’t an issue because someone who uses this station knows how to replace or repair things. However, the manufacturer needs to consider this as plug and play solution like other brands I already use some have expensive but their parts are replaced easily. despite the fact when it comes to performance it’s heating up too quickly. And consume up to 258-watt energy consumption you can find these in attach videos. Another great feature I like about it is the auto sleep function of the heat gun when you place the heat gun back into its handle it turns off the heater immediately which you can find in the video that’s its energy consumption drop to 12 watts because of the fan which still running until the heat gun drop the temperature to a certain degree which is nut harmful too our hands.

In conclusion, the overall performance is great and perfect for professional users which repair phones, laptops and even hobbyists. the power at no load is 7.5 watt and varying up to 258 watts according to my test perform on heat gun and may increase above 258 watts when selecting higher temperature range and use a soldering iron and heat gun at the same time I personally not recommend this for home users who don’t do repairing devices at home.

Oozes higher quality over any other Chinese brand I've tried
This soldering & rework station oozes high quality.
The first thing I noticed was how heavy the unit it was which is a good sign that high quality internal components are used.

The kit is quite extensive and comes with:
    5 various soldering iron tips.
A soldering iron stand that is heavy and high quality made of die cast aluminium I believe m, with 1 brass tip cleaner and also a sponge.
    Reel of solder
    Desoldering Pump
2 hot air nozzle sizes with side screws to ensure a tight fit
1 set of antistatic Tweezers for IC placement
UK IEC Mains cable which seems to be great quality and not those dangerous cheaply made mains cables that come with cheap Chinese soldering stations.
    User Manual

The soldering iron has a metal enclosure around the ceramic heating element (see pic 3) and the outer metal piece fits very tightly ensuring the best heat transfer.
This is much better in comparison to other Hakko 936 stylesoldering irons which fit much looser due to lacking this metal enclosure in between.
The handle of the hot air gun is much is a much higher quality and thicker plastic than my 858d hot air station.
Also you can calibrate the temperature in the menu rather than having to put a screw drive through a calibration hole – much handier and more accessible. The calibration was spot on when I measured it with my multimeter and thermocouple.

The wattage of the soldering iron is 90W and the hot air handle is 560W which results in a very fast heat up speed for stations in this price range.
Also the large backlit LCD is a very nice addition.

All in all this is the highest quality soldering and rework station I’ve used and can really recommend it.

Perfect for Professionals to Beginners to DIY Enthusiasts
As someone who has over 20 years experience in professional electronic rework I can say this is an excellent soldering and rework station.

The Lytool Soldering station performs as good as any other station I have used previously but is at a fraction of the cost. Not only does it come with a range of accessories such as the different solder tips, desolder pump, tweezers etc. but it also has advanced features you would normally find on much more expensive reworks stations.
Features like password protection to stop temperature being changed by operator, and ESD protection to the soldering tip ensuring you don’t damage ESD sensitive devices.

Use of the station is straight forward, and a clear and concise manual comes with. The LCD display is nice and large and easy to read. Operation is fast with a short heat up time., and iron also retains the heat during prolonged usage. Hot air station is perfect for replacing SMD components, including lead free soldering.

I highly recommend this solder and rework station, it exceeded all my expectations and I’m sure it will be the same for anyone else!

Golden Review Award: 27 From Our UsersEquipo preparado para trabajar durante mucho tiempo seguido.

    Fantastic soldering workstation, recommended 👍
This soldering and rework Station is fantastic value for money! The soldering iron heats up very fast, perfect temperature range, works extremely well and has a great well made holster. It comes with multiple bits for different work. The rework part (hot air gun) is also very well made and works better than expected for the price. This heats up very fast and has a great automatic function; take it out of the holster and it starts automatically.. Place it back in the holster again and the fan speeds up to cool the tool very fast.. it then automatically shuts down waiting for you to grab it again. Perfect temperature range and again has different nozzles for different jobs. This works really well for heat shrink without melting surrounding cables. The tool also has lots of adjustment for handle temperature offsets etc. through the onscreen menu.
I can’t recommend this tool enough! If you’re thinking about picking one up, just do it.. You won’t be disappointed

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBest Bang for the Buck
    Great all-round soldering/rework station.

    My main reasons for buying:

    – Bang-for-buck-wise, you’d be hard pressed to find anything like this at its current price point.

    – Everything you get is in my second picture (iron, iron stand, brass wool cleaner & sponge w/tray, hot air gun, the station itself, solder sucker, tweezers, solder, 4 iron tips and 2 hot air heads. Apart from copper braid, helping hands, flux, a multimeter and a mask/fume extractor, pretty much everything you’ll need to start working on motherboards properly is in this pack. It includes more than any bundle I’ve come across in the past.

    Quality:
    – The station itself is heavy and solid with an easy-to-access fuse, on/off switch, replaceable power cable and three customisable buttons for go-to temps etc. Happy in this regard.

    – The solder sucker is just a nondescript basic one and does the job.

    – Similar story for the iron tips and the hot air nozzle heads.

    – The tweezers, however, are precision ones so they’re great. I’ll update after a few weeks using everything but so far so good.

    Safety:
    – The password/PIN function is ideal for me as I have young children. They couldn’t turn it on even if they had access to it/wanted to.

    – Every push of a button prompts a loud beep. When you need to be aware of accidental presses or you need the feedback in a loud environment, this makes perfect sense. If you’re in the house trying to solder late at night this is somewhat of a negative feature. There may be an option to disable this. I’ll have to consult the manual again, but I will say that while the running of the machine is quiet, the beeper is loud.

    – The soldering iron cable locks in securely with a mechanism so it can’t be torn out by accident or by force.

    – I’ve not tried touching the iron to the wire as it’s a very dangerous test even with the right safety equipment but nonetheless the cables are thick and seem at least heat resistant. Could be silicone, unsure.

    – This station requires you to read the manual as it isn’t super intuitive. That’s a good thing. Setting up sleep mode and your baseline airflow/temps is a must before you get started anyway.

    Efficiency:
    – The iron heats up very quickly. I’m guessing that’s due to the ceramic heating element. Likely it will be more durable than standard elements.

    – The temperature shown is spot on, if not very close to the reading given on the device display. This is important as certain boards can withstand high temperatures up to a limit, dependent on the material/thickness etc so you need to know your temps are accurate. My old heatgun/iron are way off in their readings so I feel happy replacing those with this.

    – Also important, the iron holds its temperature well when you touch large ground traces. This is a good measure of efficiency.

TL;DR the only negatives worth mentioning:

The solder provided has no information about materials within it, lead or lead free, flux core or plain etc, on the spool itself. I tested the solder with noclean flux and it performed quite well so it’s decent quality but don’t expect a mirror shine on your solder joints without high quality flux.

    – One of the iron tips didn’t fit the iron, though it’s the one I won’t use so I’m not too bothered about that.

    – Loud beeper, but for safety purposes I understand why that’s the case.

Overall, it took a long time to find three negatives and even then they’re only minor. I will update this after some months but my first impressions using this station are superb.
