Shoes arrived promptly the day after ordering. I have had many pairs of Merrell shoes and boots, and they are always very comfortable. Useful that you can order half sizes online. They usually stay waterproof for at least a year, and if not they have an excellent customer service.

I have quite wide feet and find some shoes on the narrow side but these are nice and wide in the toe area.Have been on a couple of long walks and they are comfortable.Havent tested waterproofness yet but as they are Goretex lined should be fine

These walking shoes were purchased to replace the same shoes so knew what to expect. Very comfortable from the very 1st use and especially suitable for those with a broader foot. I would thoroughly recommend

Bought these for a Christmas present for my wife. She goes through boots and approach shoes quite regularly as she is a dog walker. Having used north face approach shoes in the past, I bought these ones based on her size for those. They fitted perfect, she really likes them. They’re gortex so good for most situations you don’t require an actual walking boot. Comfy enough for driving too, and she loves the look of them! These came within a week of ordering and that was on the run up to Christmas. Thumbs up!!

I have now had 3 pairs of these shoes over a number of years, which I’ve used for both walking and mainly running on a daily basis. They are light, robust, comfortable and waterproof and they last!

I walk about 1000 miles a year with my dog. Most days these trainers are perfect but every pair has let me down when walking on dew soaked grass. Dogs love walking on grass so I just put up with.
I stick with Merrell Moabs because they fit well and last about a year. Other brand may do one or other of the two but not both,.

I’ve waited a while for these to be on a good offer, and at 88 I thought it a good time to buy. I’ve not tested out the GTX yet so can’t comment on it’s effectiveness. The shoes are incredibly comfortable out of the box, and, in my opinion, look better than the photos show. I was worried about the sizing having read a lot of reviews on amazon and elsewhere, so I gambled on the suggestion of going up half a size and am glad I did. I am on average a size 9, and the 9.5 I bought, fit perfectly. There’s more chance of me walking up Pendle Hill than Everest, so I do recommend these shoes.

My old pair were slightly different. The sizes were always smaller, so at first I ordered a size larger than I take in other shoes – the same as my last pair of Merrells. I had to exchange them as they are now made true to size. They are not as wide as my old pair but they are so soft and comfortable I got away with it. If you have extra wide feet you may notice the difference from your old ones.

I have worn them a few times now, they were comfy straight out the box, and they are waterproof as advertised.

All in all, a good purchase. If they last as long as my old ones – 7 years – I will be very pleased.

I have had several pairs of the Merrell Phoenix trainer as they have an air cushion sole that mitigates plantar fasciitis. I was disappointed when they were discontinued. The Moab GTX appears to be a similar shoe and has a Vibram sole that has given me no issues over many kilometres.

The tread is more grippy than the Phoenix which is great for muddy paths and off-road tracks.

Sizing is a match for other Merrell footwear and is exactly as I expected.

My only negative comment is the price, being significantly more than the Phoenix; I hope they last as long!

Comfort straight away. I question the waterproofing on these anything more than a drizzle and they soak through quite quickly a replacement for heavy leather waterproofed boots they sure not.
Nice weather they are fine and I’d recommend them just not for winter.

I walk about 20km per day. Previous walking trainers don’t tend to hold up for long. So far however these are holding up pretty well and I’m not seeing any areas where they are breaking down. Will try and update after more usage. Replaced the laces with elastic.

Very supportive and comfortable. Took a wee while to adjust to an instep/arch support but amazingly comfortable for all day. They are structured so don’t expect a soft bending upper, they are a walking shoe, not a trainer. I walked 15000 + steps wandering about on holiday and didn’t think about my feet once. I am normally a 5/6 but sized up to 6.5 as many sites advise with a Merrill and they are spot on, especially if you tend to use a sport sock. I’ve been so impressed I’ve gone on to buy another 2 pairs of Merrill trainers.

Really like these hiking shoes so comfortable can’t vouch for there water resistants as I haven’t been in the rain or across wet fields yet.
But a good lightweight shoe that fits perfect what more could you ask for definitely recommend these hiking shoes.

  14. VernaGenders says:

Comfortable and do what they are meant to do. The only downside really is that they appear to be significantly lesser quality materials and general finish than earlier modelsI’m wondering if they will last as long. They certainly don’t look as good as the shoes Merrell were renowned for. They actually look a bit like cheap trainers.

I had to change for a larger size than normal, and these are too big. Haven’t had long enough to check water repellency etc. Definitely not the lightest walking shoe I have had, or the heaviest.

I have had a number of Merrell walking shoes, these must be the smallest fit I have had. But Merrell are normally watertight and comfortable.

These were in the Amzon Prime 2 day sale, think there was 30%(plus) off. Really surprised with comfort, sturdiness and they look great too! Would recommend, however, order a whole size bigger then you would normally, they come quite small. (I did)

Really comfy, good grip. But to have a lacing loop of material just come away when you’re lacing up, was
    a) unexpected
    b) really inconvenient
    c) shoddy workmanship
which surprised me as these were chosen after weeks of trawling through reviews and speaking to people.
So, does this mean that anything made in the USA but sold over here should now be regarded as sub-standard ?
I’ve got clothing that’s 10 years old that’s only now starting to fail. That was bought in the USA. Not via Amazon, or online.
    Shame.
Now, how will we resolve this eh Amazon and Merrell ?

External lacing loop just came out (unstitched) after 3-4 months !

Absolutely brilliant, me and my wife are scout leaders and having dry ft is very important. We baught 2 pairs, I had a pair before so I went based on that and got a size bigger and that was just fine. I did the same with my wife’s but I had to exchange them as they were to big. Quality is excellent.

I picked these shows up to wear on walks and around the garden – for these purposes they are really comfy. Other people have mentioned size, I usually wear a 9 and am finding a 9.5 in Merrell size a good fit.

I think these shoes will wear well, they seem very sturdy. The sole is a particularly hard compound so on hard surfaces, I find it slightly slippery.

  20. EvelynWienholt says:

I’m a fan of Merrell footwear and I’ve bought several before because I find them comfortable and hard wearing. The fit is usually perfect too but in this case a size 9 was a little small so had to exchange them for 9.5. Now the fit is perfect, I’ve been on several long walks and they’re a strong hardwaring shoe, unfortunately walking through wet grass I discovered they are most certainly not waterproof .

Went for half size larger than normal. Fitted perfectly. Very comfortable and enough ankle support to feel secure. The souls provide reasonable grip although could be better in the wet. Very pleased overall.

I was advised to purchase Merrell footware 1 size larger than normal (Mens size 13). Good advice, as these fitted like a glove. Normally, for a massive ‘Wainright’ hiking expedition. I would not wear brand new boots but my old pairs really had given up the ghost. I also wore the best new thick walking socks I could find. I had no trouble with my feet for the full two weeks of summiting 21 Lake District fells averaging 8-10 miles a day. The boots are really lightweight, cool and comfortable. I am really pleased with these boots. I was not able to test how waterproof they were as we had no rain at all, so ignore the stars.

I bought these to replace an ancient pair of Moab shoes. I ordered size 8, same as the old pair, but they are almost too small. Apart from cycling shoes (all cycling gear comes up smaller than regular sizing) I’ve always found size 8s to be a good fit but Merrell seem to downsized. Other than that they are the usual great quality, good for all-day walking and still kind of tidy enough to wear as a casual shoe. On holiday all I need are these, and a pair of Merrell sandals, job done.

Like a lot of people, my feet aren’t perfect, I tried on about 10 pairs of different makes at Go Outdoors before picking these, obviously found them “24 pounds” cheaper at Amazon which was a big surprise, these boots are so comfy, they are light and not that it matters to me very stylish. Im tempted to buy another pair to put away, can’t say about waterproofing as it hasn’t rained since I bought them, but Im pretty sure they be just fine.

Great, lightweight, waterproof walking trainers. These are my 4th pair. Feet stay dry in the wet and give fair foot support. Use them for daily walks and days out and generally last a year or two before the tread is completely worn away. Would suggest buying 1/2-1 size up of your normal shoe size as I found them a bit snug on my first pair.

Comfortable, supportive and lightweight walking shoe that also look good. I already had a low ankle version for flat footpath walking, but wanted the extra ankle support and protection, and the better VIBRAM sole found on this shoe. I will use it for dry summer walks in the peaks, Cornwall cost paths etc where I want support and grip for uneven ground. I gave them a test run on my local walk and they are very comfortable. A very good price on Amazon compared to other sites. As stated in other reviews I ordered a half size bigger than my normal size and they are a great fit. I’m very happy with them.

Best sole I’ve ever walked on.
These are my first Merrell shoes and they will not be the last – so comfortable.
I’ve had a couple of “hot spots” on my feet from the first few walks but as soon as I get them broken in properly I’ll probably wear them everywhere.
    Highly recommended product!

These are admitted by Merrell to size up wider than average. The first time I wore them, wearing thin socks, I had a slight rub in one heel. Solved by wearing medium thick socks. They feel good on the feet, giving a stable platform to walk on.

I have worn these boots in all weathers, and I have to say that I am very impressed with the water resistance. I have bought Merrel boots before and the only problem that I have had with them is sizing. I need to go up half a size from size 9 for a decent fit, but once you know that then all is fine. I wish they lasted a bit longer. The soles are worn out long before the uppers, but that is no different from all the other boots I have had of this type.

The boots initially seemed expensive (for me) but I think that they provide goo value for money. You can’t put a price on dry feet after all.

I bought these for countryside walks and they’re great so far. However, the first pair I bought were a 12 and they come up more like an 11. I’m very comfy usually in a Converse 12, with plenty of space, but these in a 12 were painful on the toes. Reordered in a 13 (!!!) and they’re a good fit now, although a 12.5 may have been slightly better.
Very comfy, big thick soles, easy to get on and off.
But heed what people say: buy half a size bigger!

This is my second pair of Merrell’s since lockdown, bought the low rise last year & thought with more & more inclemante ? weather would invest in a high rise pair.
With a good pair of socks found this comfortable for walking across muddy fields & Bristol Downs.
Well worth spending that bit extra to have a proper pair.
    Love the colour.
I also went half size up on my UK shoe size

Good, sturdy walking shoes which I’ve used for light to medium hiking for two months now. Seem waterproof but only really been tested in wet grass, not heavy rain. Comfortable straight out of the box. Small fitting, so order a size up. I’m size 10 but needed 11,which fits well with a thick sock.

This the second pair of MOAD mid cut boots I’ve owned. First pair purchased on holiday in Chicago was my introduction to Merrell footwear. I wore them to death because they were so comfortable. Then bought a different design of Merrell boot back home few years later which were OK but began to peel and give way at the uppers where the foot bends. Comfy though. Now it’s back to original MOAB style. It’s like taking sturdy slippers for a hike. Excellent.

A really comfortable walking boot for the price, I read one of the reviews that pointed out that Merrills can come up small and it was worth ordering a half size bigger than normal. I did this and was pleased I did, the slight difference made the fit really good and would allow using a thicker sock for longer walks if required. Disappointed with the Hermes carrier however, promised delivery was deferred twice although they did keep their own website up to date so I should be grateful for that.

I had been searching for a pair or walking boots that had a slightly wider fit than most I tried on in various shops. I saw a review of these online and took a chance. They are great. I normally take a size 10 and some had said that they found going up half a size better – so I ordered the 10.5 size. The fit is really comfy (I wear a slightly thicker walking sock) with plenty (but not excessive) room for toes and no movement on the heel. I haven’t had them long, but on the walks so far I have found these easy to wear. Time will tell as to how well they last, but so far I am pleased with these boots.

This is the second pair of these I have owned and as well as being very comfortable and lightweight they have a wide toe box which I much prefer.
The last pair I had for a couple of years and stayed mainly water resistant unless they got submerged in deeper water.
I have bought a size up on both pairs I have owned as they are on the small size.
Would highly recommend and not hesitate to purchase another pair. Ligh

  38. Philome0431 says:

These seem like a good, well built shoe although after buying two pairs I did notice on one pair the top shoe was misaligned, with the sole/ base protruding out on the outer sides. Also I am always a size 8 but with the Merrells my toes were scrunched and pressing against the front so I’d recommend sizing up a half or full size.

Thought I’d give the Merrill Moab a go as I was looking for something comfortable and not too heavy.
They are a really good fit and I ordered my usual size although I did put some scholl insoles in as I usually do and they are so comfy.
Really can’t comment on their water resistant qualities at the moment but they are well made nice fit as the fabric construction has a nice bit of give.
Probably wouldn’t rate as a dedicated hiking boot but it sort of falls between trainers and hiking boot all the same it was definitely the fit and comfort I was looking for and the Moab fulfills that so I reckon ideal for around town and a bit off off-roading.

Like any footwear, opinion is very subjective. I am a good size 10 in most shoes and ordered a 10.5 and it fits snugly. 11 may have been comfortable but I feel the heel would have been too loose. I have a good arch but, like many people, a tendency to over-pronate and these shoes suit me well. I have had no knee pain or adapting symptoms despite wearing them for extended periods and without wearing them in. I plan on buying another pair in a different colour when I can.

Light but sturdy. I’m on to my third pair in 5 years.
They have a solid sole with good grip.
The gore-tex waterproof membrane is pretty decent, too.

I love the fit for my feet. I normally take a 9.5/10 and get a 10 in the Merrells.
I find them comfortable going up and down mountain paths such as the Mourne Mountains. I have debated whether to go for mid or high ankle support, but these low rise suit me for now.
The soles are a bit too hard for pavement walking but great on sand or grass.

    Great reduced price, too.

My husband choose those for his daily walks in countryside. They fit well and are apparently extremely comfortable. And it comes from somebody who is very particular about footwear because he is 6″5 tall and he has got big size of footwear. Price is very competitive comparing to other boots he has got and delivery was super fast. So these boots are highly recommended.

Oh my husband loves these shoes. He wouldn’t shut up about how comfortable they are, how warm they are, how he can wear them for a run or for a walk or for a workout, and how waterproof they are. Haha. He likes them so much these are his second pair, and he’s convinced me to get a pair too. I must agree, they are pretty comfortable especially if you are on your feet a lot like myself. I know the price tag might seem a little steep but you won’t need to buy another pair of shoes for at least a year (minimum). Definitely recommend.

When I initially bought this, it was a bit tight and I felt like my feet were crushing inside. However, after using it for a while (around a few weeks) and few long walks and hikes, it properly expanded and felt comfortable.

Its been a year and a half now that I have been using this for my walks and hikes, it is a good boot. but I personally feel sole is on a bit harder side. if i walk for continuously for 10+kms it feet feels bit cramped.
    Waterproofing is perfect.

These boots are super comfy and really nice to wear. Went for a 12km walk the day after I got them (after wearing them round the house for a day to try and “break them in” a bit) with no problems or issues. Kept my feet warm and dry too (through some mud but no serious puddles)

The grip on the soles is great – no slipping or sliding even on relatively steep slopes.

I would normally wear a size 8 or 9, but I had to order a 9.5 to get a nice comfy fit.

I had a pair of these for years, and as always with a comfy, hard wearing boot, it’s sometimes difficult to find a replacement which is as good. However, I found exactly the same boot on Amazon – they fit like a glove and need hardly (if any) wearing in. Some reviews claimed that these aren’t waterproof, but I can assure you that they are – made out of Gore-tex uppers, I don’t see how they couldn’t be. Highly recommended if you want a general purpose walking boot at a reasonable price.

I usually buy shoes in a shop so I can try them on. I took a risk with these as I had a previous pair which have been great for the last couple of years. They are as good quality as the previous pair and fit the same so I am very pleased with them. Online price was 64 rather than 115 in a shop. Good value but not sure it’s entirely fair on the high streets as I looked around before buying.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought these a few days ago, and picked them up yesterday after the delivery courier repeatedly informed me I wasn’t home when i was.
The shoes are fantastic, very comfortable, and yes i ordered a size larger than i normally would. My daughter tells me that I look taller too, and its not surprising as they have quite a lift. I wore them this morning in the rain on my motorbike, and they kept me very dry, but the sole was quite slippery on the wet tarmac which i was surprised about. Ill reserve judgement for hiking until I try them “off road”, but first impressions are pretty nice.

Am a bit of a Merrell footwear junkie, so you could say I am speaking from experience. These are now my second pair of
Moab 2 Gore Tex boots, very comfortable, good support, well made and …. durable! Snow and ice, rain and sun, went through it all and kept on giving top performance! Alas, as with all things, after 6yrs+ age got the better of them, hence the recent replacement. At the current price of 125+ would have considered an alternative, but in the Amazon sale got them for 67.01 inc. p+p – which was great! Would suggest that you purchase at least 1/2 size bigger than your normal shoe size….. Have also the following: 1 pr. Intercept ‘Blue Wing’ shoes, 2 pr. Moab 2 Ventilator shoes, 1 pr. Moab 2 Gore Tex shoes, 2 pr. All Out Blaze Sieve sandals (brilliant comfort) – Merrell really know how to make great products.

I’ve only worn Merrell for the last 8 years.

I suffer from osteoarthritis in my feet, as a result I have to be very careful about the footwear I choose. Generally speaking, every pair of Merrell shoes and boots I’ve brought have fitted perfectly. Providing me with a comfortable, padded, supported fit and these are no exception. They required very little if any wearing in and I do a lot of walking, easily 8 to 10 miles a day. The only disappointing part of these boots is the sole. I’ve found they lack grip on some surfaces that I don’t remember passed versions having issues with.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI bought these boots in desperation, hoping that they would be suitable for my quite severe plantar fasciitis. They were very comfortable from the start and give excellent support–with the addition of orthotic inserts and foam pads. They have shown themselves to be waterproof when I am walking on wet grass, and waterproof in the rain–although, of course, the webbing on the top surface gets soggy and takes ages to dry, making the Boots feel cool. Nevertheless, good value.

While I will continue use old school leather hiking boots for more serious walks, these are classed as approach footwear and from previous experience with other makes of trainer type designs, they are not durable enough as workhorse shoes. However, first impressions are very good in terms of quality and fit. The Vibram soles are particularly good and if you are in the market for some good quality lightweight walking shoes that look good as casual wear too, give these serious consideration.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersMy shoe size is normally a UK 10 and I ordered a UK10 high rise boot, having already bought a UK10 low rise shoe version a year or so ago. It fitted perfectly. The new Moab 2 boot version gives me a higher heel compared with the older low rise version, but gives the added ankle support which feels great.
My wife bought a female UK6.5 version of this boot as she takes a UK6 shoe and is very happy with her boot size fit, so my advice is not to over compensate in size especially if you are going to wear normal socks.

OK. I’m a UK 8 and a half wide fit. These, at size 9, are perfect for me. So buy at least half a size over what you would choose normally.

Great sole – no slippage even on muddy slopes.

Construction – looks robust, and has coped well on three long walks.

Waterproofing? No shoe I have found is really waterproof, but these stay dry after medium rain and shallow brook crossing.

So, 5 stars. These are MY shoes!

It is now perforated with ridges on the underside, presumably for better ventilation. These ridges are rough on the balls of my feet. I have contacted Merrell for replacement insoles.
Also, the mesh colour on grey shoes is purple in daylight, not as shown in the image.
Merrill shoes are excellent, but due to insoles and colour only 4 stars. Excellent for offer price of 66, RRP 115.
