Great game. Quite fiddly to set up but once done is easy to navigate the game. Helped that son had actually played animal crossing and had knowledge of terminology in the game.

Fantastic game with a good twist to monopoly. I think once you’ve played it a few times it’ll be easy enough to grasp however we needed to keep the instructions to hand the first time as they differ quite a bit from the original monopoly we are used to playing.

    Fab for all the family.

Great way to introduce kids to the world of monopoly.
The game is quick which is what you need when kids are playing. Easy rules which are explained simply in the leaflet. Money is only in 1M so supports counting. Although my 2yr old loved throwing the dice but that’s about it.. 4 1/2yr old really enjoyed it and understood easily. Would def recommend.
Only improvement I would suggest is the tokens for purchasing property move about easily. May be a slot to hold them in would be better!?

    Great game
Bought it for my 3 year old, he figured out how to play it quite quick he now wins near enough everytime, it’s great for teaching him about money and it’s a great family game to pass time on rainy days.

Only problem is all the money is 1 notes it would be better of there was some 2 and 5s as well

    Fun game
Brought two of these games for my grandchildren. A 9 year old boy and a 9 year old girl in different houses. They had great fun playing with this game. Not only is it fun but helps with adding up using money and reading. Also about not always winning. A great game for all the family. Good value for the money. Very pleased with them

    Really good introduction to Monopoly
This was a present for my 3 year old but we’ve all enjoyed playing it. It’s a great introduction to Monopoly without being overly confusing and he enjoyed the Peppa Pig characters though they don’t have eyes which is a bit creepy.
All round brilliant and we really enjoyed it.

    ROAR-some!
A nice twist on an old favourite, Jurassic Park Monopoly adds some interesting and exciting new elements to the game. The free roaming T-Rex causes damage to properties, while the infamous park gates let you know how much money you’re going to get for passing go. My one tiny critique is that the propery cards are quite small, but otherwise a fantastic gift for dino-lovers of all ages!

This game is great it is different to the normal monopoly games and it isn’t one that goes on for ever and ever. My children thoroughly enjoyed playing this together and we didn’t have the normal arguments whilst playing i

Not really Monopoly but a lot of fu
I like it when alternate versions of Monopoly add variances to the standard game, to add to replayability etc. However, this game is not Monopoly. Regardless of enjoyment, if you’re looking for a game like the original board game where you move around the board buying cute characters, furniture or collectibles, this is not it. That doesn’t mean it isn’t fun, but the ONLY thing that is the same as original Monopoly is there is a Go to Jail, Just Visiting and Free Parking spaces. You don’t even roll the same dice. There is a GO space, but it operates entirely differently to original Monopoly.

This would’ve been fine as a standalone board game without the Monopoly tag, and may have even allowed flexibility to try new things and make it more exciting. Perhaps the board could’ve been of an animal crossing island, each quarter being a different season (each side of the Monopoly board is one of the four seasons – brown & light blue is fall, for example) and a nice woodland style trail to represent the spaces you move would’ve been very cute to any AC fan.

You go around collecting one of the four collectibles in the game, one space for each season – fruit, insect, fossil, fish. Each time you roll the dice, you roll 1 normal six sided, and then one custom dice which represents a resource you can choose to sell at the end of your turn for bells. You can choose to hold on to these, however, as instead of Community Chests there are Nook Mile objectives, which like in New Horizons, will give you a task to fulfil such as giving four tokens (eg. Fruit) to the bank, in which case selling your resources straight away can be a bad idea – some will reward you for completing, others will penalise you for NOT completing. These are my favourite part of the game, as it adds a lot more purpose to playing.

When you pass GO, you can choose to spend your bells on decoration items (furniture players of New Horizons may recognise from the game). Each of these items, upon finishing the game, count towards your total Nook Miles, the currency to decide the winner. If you’re looking for alternate ways to play, you could try keeping a theme to your pretend house, and thus only allowing each player to buy furniture that would suit their theme. (My partner only bought furniture suitable for a winter cabin, whilst I focused on summer resort styles)

Overall I would say the game is far simpler (and also far more pleasant – if you get into family arguments in this ‘Monopoly’ I’d be very concerned) than the original. I’d say there’s probably quite a few house rules you can implement to make it more challenging, depending on the age range of players.

In terms of the packaging and presentation, however, I am less impressed, hence why the review isn’t 5*. The box was sealed by stick-down stickers over each edge, and on removing them peeled off the artwork and thus making the box look old and tatty. There are also hundreds of pieces, all of which need to be separated by each of the colour groups on the board. No easy task! Do yourself a favour and before playing the game, get some small bags, pots or anything you can get to separate the different colours. This should’ve already been provided as it’ll be an incredible chore to try and set up the game each time.

You also have to put stickers on the custom dice yourself, which felt unnecessary, and like something that could’ve been done for you. The stickers were again poor quality and we almost lost one to damage whilst trying to peel it, which would’ve of course greatly impacted the game.

Overall, this would be better suited without the Monopoly tag as it is entirely a different game, but is very fun nonetheless. My recommendation to all players is to consider inventing some house rules to add to the challenge (age depending) and definitely most certainly find a solution to separate all the coloured tiles. You’ll thank me for this if you do it from the off.

    Classic Board Game
Classic Board Game now made simpler for children to play with ease great fun for all the family and keeps the Grandchildren off the Ipads or watching Netflix for an hour or so which is invaluable as you can’t put a price on family time.

Quite a good version of monopoly
From what I’ve seen I like this. I have tried the game out using 2 characters (both played by myself, leading to a few restarts, lol) You get 9 tokens – the 9 members of the fellowship (I could have done with the names of the hobbits, Boromir and Aragorn stamped into the bases, but that’s just a nit pick) Instead of chance (16) and Community Chest (16) you get 32 quest cards. Houses/Hotels are now Outposts/Forteesses respectively. Spaces are Middle Earth places, utilities are replaced by Blade and Hilt of Narsil and Morgul Blade, Sting, Bow and Staff replace the railroads. Ring Wraith (2M) and Gollum (1M) are the tax squares. A standard set up so far. The final components are the one ring; Neither metal nor real, lol; and the tracker. On the board are 1m, 2m, 4m, 8m, 16m and Mount Doom. The tracker goes on Start and the ring bearer and at the beginning of his turn, before the roll of the dice, the Ring Bearer moves the tracker onto the next square. Lose the ring by rolling a Saurons Eye (which replaces the 1 on the dice) and you pay the price you’re on and the tracker moves to the start again. Get it all the way to Mount Doom and the Ring Bearer pockets 15M and the game ends. As the Ring Bearer you don’t pay rent, go to jail (apart from getting a quest card that instructs you to) and if you keep the ring long enough you collect 4m instead of 2m for passing go. All in all it’s a fun game

A must for any LOTR fans!
Love this version of monopoly! It’s quite complicated to understand so I’d recommend playing a dummie version whilst reading the instructions as we understood it a lot more that way!

I wouldn’t recommend playing with 2 players you need at least 3 players to get the full effect of this game. If there’s just two of us we don’t use the ring or the Eye as it ends the game quite quickly!

But it’s such a great game once you understand the rules properly I highly recommend this version!

Great Junior Monopoly Game for kids
I purchased this game to try and teach my 4 year old grandson his first game of Monopoly. It’s a lovely game, grandson loved the little animal figures and I’m sure we’ll have a lot of fun with it in the future. At present his 4 year old mind will only concentrate for short periods but he did enjoy playing (in his own way) for a while until he got bored and was off doing something else.

Great game but annoyed at no tray
As per some of the other reviews on here, the lack of tray was incredibly frustrating. I have had to put the playing pieces in sandwich bags in order to stop them going absolutely everywhere. Not good bearing in mind how much Monopoly’s cost! The game itself is great however and as a huge Jurassic Park fan I was chuffed when I got it. I love the twist with the T-Rex!

The only other negative is that the characters all look very similar so its not obvious who is who when you are playing (esp. if you are playing with people who are unfamiliar with the film/ characters).

Good once you get your head round it!
There are lots of pieces in this game and it involves a lot of setting up.
It is quite complex and takes time to get used to, but after a few rounds of the board it starts to make more sense and is good fun.
We have played it with our 7 and 9 year old and they both enjoy it. A full game can take quite a long time though so don’t leave it too late in the day to start it!
The “properties” could have done with a bit more thought and design as they are all the same, but overall it’s a good game for Animal Crossing fans and worth persevering through the set up and getting your head around it!

I really enjoyed this. Less of an emphasis on buying properties and more on building your towers. Quite a few different strategies to use here. Potentially not great for younger children as there can be a lot going on towards the end of the game. Still a very good version and quite unique.

Simple Monopoly Game for younger players
Monopoly Junior is an ideal boardgame for younger players that encourages turn taking, counting and number recognition.

It comes with everything listed on the box, which are a playing board four character counters and their cards, Chance cards and Monopoly money.

I bought this once before for my 7 year old great niece who loved it so I bought it again for my 5 year old son. I like that the original Monopoly game has been simplified and you can play with only 2-4 players. It encourages my son to socialise and practise his number skills.

Couple of things for the manufacturers:
It would be great if there a sectioned plastic internal box to separate each pieces. Also the Jail section is still there, it should have been Time Out/ Detention instead so it’s child friendly. It would be great if the money and chance cards were not paper as they can be torn easily.

I bought this a while ago for my grandson aged 6, but only gave it to him today, as a reward for working hard at school. We played it with his parents and he loved it. In fact the adults preferred it to the adult version. The rules were easy to follow and clearly written. By the second game he could act as banker. It lasted long enough that he didn’t become bored as you finish when the first person goes bankrupt. A great buy.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGreat version of monopoly
This is a great version of monopoly, and depending how your gaming fate goes it can be a quick game or a long one. We played this recently with friends and we all really enjoyed it – we ended up doing 4 games.
The extra challenge of trying to keep the ring and get to mount doom was clever as the ring can give you immunity to paying rent or going to jail etc. You can challenge people for the ring or it can be lost depending on the dice. There was also some sneaky secret quest cards that when revealed turned the game around and caused drama (lighthearted of course). I dont think we would play it with our boys as there may be tantrums lol.
Great gift for tolkien fans who like playing board games.

Fantastic game for any LotR fan!
I have the other version of this game (from several years ago) and this is almost like a completely different game! Cards are used in different ways, and there is only one type (quest card) as opposed to two in the original, and most other monopoly games. The other main difference is that your token can wear the ring and it gives them perks – but can also be their downfall if they lose it after too many turns (can cost a lot of gold!)
As a huge Lord of the Rings fan, I had to get this! But I think that casual LotR fans and/or monopoly fans would also enjoy this!

Love it or hate it. Monopoly is the game that’s been destroying family’s for years and years. It’s a brutal game of attrition were the last player standing is champ.

We made a right afternoon out of one game taking four hours to play. We laughed and laughed. The quality is great. Make sure you hit the trap button every time you land on the square. We all ended up singing the song and clapping along.

The only downside is the paper money, which in rules is stated – tier apart if you run out of notes…lol.. well good I have another monopoly with electronic payment cards.. that will be used to have a great gam

    Great for kids
Got this monopoly for my 8year old son and he loves it. He likes the little figures and its a great game for them to lear to deal with money and understand the concept of spending money and savings.

Golden Review Award: 31 From Our UsersI feel sorry for the banker.
I own 5 different monopolys. most just different countries or ones based off games. I do own the Mega edition with skyscrapers and more properties.

Im a little sad that all the properties on this board are the same ones but with numbers after them. You cant really see that in the picture on here. I guess thats why they make it blurry.

I understand the reason behind only having one die as to make it longer. The tokens couldve been better. just a rabbit and a turtle in silver or gold.

A little shocking the first thing the manual says is to rip your money in half as they dont provide enough money for the game.

But my main gripe and its a big one. who ever is the banker is going to have a terrible time. With every monopoly game ive ever owned there is a tray to put the different money notes in and a tray for all the property cards. this has none. So im either going to have to use another tray from another version or do without. I dont know if its supposed to come with a tray or not as some comments on here say theres bits missing.

    Brilliant family game x
    Brilliant game!!
We brought this as a family game and we have spent hours playing it.
My daughters 6 and 9 love monopoly and they can play this so much easier than the original adults game.
They always ask to play it and it’s been such a great purchase.
    Highly recommended x

    Great Fu
This game was something different from the original games. The whole point is to cheat your way through and win at the end. The packaging is really good and the print on the board and cards is really good too. Would really recommend if you like cheating and want to have fun with your friends.

Simplified version of monopoly for childre
4 and 7 year old children enjoyed this game. It is a simplified version of the adult game. I think that after a year, most children would want to move onto the adult version. Even after a few months I have supplemented the one pound denomination notes only with mixed denomination notes from ‘the pound shop’ as they enjoy sorting and counting the notes.

    Brilliant game for the kids
Gets them off the TV and spending time with the family. Very fun game, clever use of tokens and easy money system. Perfect in preparation for the adult game in a few years.

My kids LOVE this game, and so do I! Mine are aged 5 and 7, they enjoy counting the money, and absolutely revel in it if I get sent to jail. Great fun!

Always a good game to turn to with the kids.
This is great for family get togethers. The kids can join in and learn the basics, ready for the adult game in a few years time.

Great fun game for the kids
Growing up playing the original Monopoly I thought I get this to play with my kids. In short its just a scaled down version of the full game and great for kids as it much simpler and quicker to play unlike the full version which can last hours which kids would lose interest.
For kids great but other kids 9+ or adults stick with the original.

A lot more fun than the standard monopoly
Took a while to understand, but was really fun and not that confusing. Only bad thing was if you use the cheat cards in the normal version, you sometimes forget if one has been removed. But apart from that once you play a couple times, it should be easy.

    Greta for any monopoly fan!
I’m a bit of a monopoly collector and when I saw this edition at such a great price I couldn’t resist. Its a hilarious way to play monopoly, my daughter got caught more than once and ended up cuffed for majority of the game! Perfect game for family game night without the normal pressure that seems to come along with monopoly

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersSo much family fun for little ones
This is so much fun. We bought it to add to our games night selection for our 6 year old twins.
The game is similar enough in format to regular monopoly that it’s readying little ones for the big game in time.

    So, the differences are –

The only money are 1 notes. So it’s much easier to manage buying property and paying rent etc as they only have 1s to count up.

When you land on a property, if it’s free you have to buy it. There’s no property cards, each player has little discs that match their playing piece, and those are what you place then on the property you own.

There’s no houses or hotels to buy to put on your property.

There are chance cards, and they’re largely good ones (a little too many good ones perhaps). They are things like ‘move ahead UP TO 5 spaces’ (therefore children have the possiblity and choice to avoid landing on someone else’s property and paying rent), a few ‘give this card to the Duck eg player and on their next go they can choose a property to buy’, and quite a few ‘move to a red or blue eg property and if it’s available get it for free’.

If you land on another players property you pay them rent which is the same price the player paid for it. If they own both properties for that colour then you have to pay them double rent.

The first person to go bankrupt signals the end of the game. Then whoever has the most money is the winner.
This means that the game ends a lot sooner than regular monopoly.
Which, when you’re playing with little ones can be a good thing! But of course, if you’re all enjoying then you just play again.

We’ve all had a lot of fun playing this game as a family and I’m really glad I bought it.
It’s very easy for children to understand the simple rules.
The numbers they’re dealing with, providing they can recognise numbers, are really low – at most the highest property to buy is 5, and the highest double rent to pay is 10, so as long as they can count up to ten they’ll be fine, and help with reading chance cards if need be too.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersOriginal game still preferred.
I bought this as my teenagers love Monopoly and I thought this would be something they would enjoy but was a different take on the main game.

The aim of the game is very similar to the normal Monopoly but you have cheat cards and everyone playing at some point tries to get away with cheating. If you succeed you are rewarded, get caught and you have to put the handcuffs on – beware one of the cheat cards is to get out of the handcuffs without others seeing so make sure the player with the on keeps their hands on the table.

Talking about the handcuffs, by the third time we played we were fed up of putting them on and removed the cheat card for them and left them in the box.

The game is okay but I don’t know where it was because we are all super vigilant, there were only four of us playing or what but no-one got away with cheating, plus with five cheats at anyone time to remember, everyone kept on forgetting what was written on the cards and spend a lot of time going over them again.

The lads have now gone back to playing the normal version and this one has been sat in the cupboard for the last few months untouched.

A novelty in my house but it didn’t last and the original is preferred.

    Fun for all the Family!
Probably one of the best games ever! Our child (5yrs old) loves this game and very quickly grabbed the concept and became a bit of a master on this. Perfect for learning in my opinion, using basic maths to work out money and spaces to move, etc… We play this game almost every other day and for parents, it’s certainly one you can enjoy to, without it going on forever! 🙂
