Pet Gear PG9300DR Tri-fold Pet Ramp, Black/Grey, X-Large

Overview
There are many different types of ramps. The most common designs are bi-fold, tri-fold and free-standing. Ramps can also have different surface materials such as grip tape (with or without reflective markings) or carpet.

Why choose a free-standing
Free-standing ramps do not need to be attached to a vehicle and are an excellent choice for large dogs as they can support extra weight without excess wobbling or bending.

Why choose a carpeted ramp
Carpeting is great choice for pets with long nails, providing them with an extra gripping surface. It is gentle on your pet’s paws as well as the inside of your vehicle when the ramp is being stored. The carpet tread is removable and washable for easy cleaning.

Why choose a reflective ramp
Reflective ramps provide extra safety when loading and unloading your pet. The high contrast markings also aid in guiding your pet up and down the ramp.

Heavy duty ramp claims OK to 200lbs. Our Great Dane weighs in at 180 lb / 80 kilos & it takes his weight well. No problem training to use & has saved him jumping & impacting his shoulders. Non slip surface. Chunky device that takes up car space when folded but expected. Prompt delivery. Recommended.
We have a 50kilo Akita with arthritis, this ramp doesn’t give a fraction. Extremely sturdy, easy to use. Downside it is a bit cumbersome to carry round on the back seats. Could do with a bag for when not in use.
It takes up a lot of room in the car when folded up. Also I can be a hassle to set up in public to get the dogs out. For me it not great but for others, it might be. Ive given it 4 starts because it is a good product and can hold a heavy dog. Mine is a Newfoundland.
I really like this ramp! My Rottweiler is 8 years old, and has a hard time getting around. This ramp easily unfolds and attaches to the back of my Chevy Equinox. I have to lead my dog up and down the ramp by holding his collar, but he has never had a problem. I was worried after reading other reviews of the grip on the ramp, but It has worked fine for us. This is really a lifesaver for us as we can no longer lift our dog in and out of the car. I would purchase again! 4 Stars due to the size- It is bulky and hard to store in the vehicle on trips, but i’m not sure there is really a way around that .
I have an 11 month old Bernese Mountain Dog who took to using this immediately. Relatively easy to open and close but is a bit heavy and a lot bigger than I was expecting. I am not too impressed that on the first practise the dog’s claws scratched the ramp however.
I had been looking for a ramp for a while and this one is just right for my 8 mth old Newfoundland who is 50kg at present with a lot more growing to do . It saves his joints and my back win win ! It’s very sturdy and wide enough that he feels confident on it . It is fairly heavy and obviously takes up room in the car but couldn’t be easier to unfold and put away .
Excellent product and very easy to use .
Solves the problem of getting big dogs in a truck with ease
A little heavy and cumbersome and care needs to be taken as sandpaper type ramp can be slippery.
Great product does the job for my old dog.
Pruduct is very heavy, You need to be fit yourself to set it up.
I bought this for my aging Husky who has arthritis. I have only used it once, I admit, as mostly we go to the vet where parking is limited and people dont leave enough room between cars. I like it and will keep it for my pups as it is light enough for me to sort out and put away on my own and easily holds a 37kg husky so is sturdy. I think its a handy tool to have, but not something I use on a daily basis
I have a 55 kilo dog and it handled his weight, fairly lucky our dog went up it with a bit of push, it is quite steep, other may struggle. Once folded it is bulky, we have a P207 and I store it in the boot ready it takes up half of the boot, no room in the boot to store once the dog is in the car.
To help a German Shepard get in and out of a va
Great, perfect for my Discovery and 32kg Korthals Griffon. Sturdy but not too heavy.
good quality a little bit heavy and awkward to handle
very handy if you own a large dog, I have a french mastiff who weighs 55kg, this does the job in getting her in and out of the boot of the car, would recommend this definitely.
I have a very large Labrador who was struggling to get in and out of car this ramp was a god send .
Excellent product. Ideal for a large German Shepherd walking into the the relatively high boot of a Mitsubishi L200 pickup.
Good ramp strong no more aching back or limpping dogs
Bought for our dog as she found it more difficult to jump into car. After training with treats for 5min, she has been using it happily. She weighs 35kg, Labrador size. I use it daily, not too heavy to lift.
Too heavy – insufficient handles. Impulse buy – big mistake. Would suit people with a larger car and someone strong to do the lifting.
great for my elderly newfoundland, her weight is no problem as this is very sturdy. because of this it does take a lot of room up even when folded though
I am sick of leaving detailed reviews. Leave me alone. I have given it a star rating – don’t have time to go into more details. Bugger off
Excellent service. Ordered this on the 29th Dec. Got an email to say it would be delivered on the 2nd Jan which I was happy with. It came on the 31st Dec. Mega happy!
The ramp itself is very well built. Looks strong. Excellent grip. We have a Mazda CX-5 and it’s perfect. There is a slight spring in it but when our dog goes on it he’s fine with it. I’m sure it’ll flatten out. It took 2mins for him to go up it. The weight it’ll take is also impressive. Our dog weighs 50kg and it’s no problem. I stood on it gently and it took my weight but I was only on it a second. It folds up nicely and locks into place. First impressions are very good. I would and will recommend this ramp
Very happy with my purchase. A good product, good price and delivered promptly. Dogs needed some training to use it but I am very happy with it.
Really good for our old Italian Spinone, I put a towel over the grippy base to give her more traction. The ramp came much quicker than I expected and it has saved my back and arms!!!
Our Spinone is 37KG
a strong compact dog ramp.ideal for our german sheppard
Despit having to send it back due to the weight this product is an excellent buy if you are strong enough to carry it arround and with enough boot space to store it.
Absolutely amazing. We use it for our German Shepherd and she loves it. Sand paper type covering rather hard but definitely does the job.
This has made such a bit difference to us as a family. My Newfie loves it!
Well built sturdy product. Just got try to get my dog to walk up i
Good quality ramp but very very heavy, making it cumbersome to set up and difficult to carry even though it does have a handle. It is rather “springy” when in use and my dog didn’t like walking on it. Maybe best for a fairly light dog with a strong owner!!!
Very solid. Good width for a larger dog. Easy to use and transport. Connects to rear of your car. Great product.
I began by placing the ramp folded into the smaller length flat on a floor in a narrow hallway where he would have to walk over it to get to where he wanted to go. After two days, I opened it to the second section; after three days I opened it all the way.
Next, I placed the double length on the first step of my stairway to the upstairs where we all sleep. I blocked the sides so he would have to walk up the ramp to the second step. After two nights I opened it all the way and placed it on the second step. The next two nights I placed it on the third step. I never “trained” him to use it; only made it a routine part of access to areas he wanted to get to. I never made a big deal of his using it and I walked on it to so he could follow.
The next day I introduced the ramp into the vehicle and with stinky cheese, urged him to walk all the way into the cargo area of the car. He did so without a blink. I took him to one of our favorite places–a lake with a natural path for a walk. This way he associated the ramp with a new freedom to be able to get into the car again and go someplace fun.
By the time I had to load him for his trip to the hospital for back surgery, he knew the ramp meant he could go with me anywhere. By “loading” the association of the ramp with pleasant experiences before the hospital trip, he did not separate the experience and associate the ramp with the vet office. Mission accomplished!
Great product; wide, non-slip, sturdy, did not wobble or creak, never slid off the bumper (a sure way to instill fear in a dog). Easy to fold up, not too heavy, easy to store. Solid sections when folded all the way out–no bounce. Bought sight unseen but I am very impressed! Good value price-wise too.
came on time: no problem fitting it. However it could do with handles on both sides, other than that it is good value for the money and once the dog get’s used to it, good for them
THIS IS A GREAT RAMP, IT IS WIDE ENOUGH TO GIVE THE DOG A SECURE CONFIDENT FOOT HOLD.
IT DID HOWEVER NEED MORE SECURE TIE TO THE REAR RAMP OF TRUCK BUT VERY PLEASED
We use the ramp in the back garden for easier access up and down two steps for my elderly arthritic Labrador. Both my labs love the ramp and got used to it quickly.
Excellent quality, doesn’t flex, plenty sturdy enough for my 37kg dog. Good length for 4x4s, slope not too steep. Nice & wide with good grip so dog feels steady. Rubber feet top & bottom prevent it slipping and has a handy strap & clip at the top to fasten to where the door catch is. Folds up small enough to fit (just) in front footwell. Light to carry & very easy to open & fold up. Has hook to keep it all together when folded. Very well thought out invention
I think the car I am to be using it on is too high. It is an old pathfinder. I think it was 25 inches to the bumper.
Dog was suddenly not keen on hopping in the small back doors, we noticed that he was not using his back legs so much. So we decided on this and also got him some physical therapy. The PT was helpful as she fixed one of his vertebra so now he can leap better. But he is getting on and I have to think of the next time I am somewhere with him and he will not or cannot get into the car by jumping.
I couldn’t decide between the ramp or stairs. The youtube videos made me think the ramp was easy as those dogs ran up it. Those dogs are not my dog. These were less pricey than the stairs and they had great reviews. I got the reflective yellow on black as my dog might not see so well especially at night. I got the trifold as my husband measure that only this one would fold up small enough to fit in the car.
The three times we tried this in the field, he jumped off it midway every time. The last time I ended up with an 80 pound dog in my arms with his two front feet almost to the car. We were frozen there and had to get assistance from my husband to get out of that. My husband and I had been each on a side of the ramp to guide him up. I have no idea what happened as it went so fast. I got concerned that this pup was going to injure himself more.
We will continue to keep it flat and train him to stay on the path and try again slowly raising the angle. Though, if it were me, I would be concerned with the angle I am expecting him to walk, if it were me walking it.
The slope has a very fine sandpaper-like finish. Not slippery, not too rough. Dog likes to file his nails on it.
It has a way of folding itself and a little latch to keep it closed. We can fit it easily in the back of the car.
Slightly heavy, but not like picking up an older 80 pound dog who wants to do everything on his own and trying to put him in a car. That is a treat.
With the ramp angled next to the rear door the dog can walk up, but the ramp can slide while the dog is on it. At the moment I put my foot at the base of the ramp to keep it from sliding. I intend to put in a tie down to quickly attach the provided strap eventually, If you’re a true pick up guy I’m sure you could figure this out. My truck doesn’t have any accommodations for the provided strap, but I’m not using it as intended, so no points deducted for sliding.
they do sell a strap for this purpose. It goes straight up and hooks on the top of the door. I’m not certain it would prevent lateral sliding, but I could be wrong. Check it out for yourself here on amazon.
This folds up nicely, although the little plastic hook isn’t reliable. That’s not really a big deal. It’s not too heavy, my wife and I can easily sling it into the bed of the truck while we are driving and it folds small enough to be secured in the back seat when we get the dog where she is going.
The first time I used it another fellow in a pickup was driving passed, he pulled a u-turn to come back to ask me about the ramp. Turns out he needs one for his dog too. It certainly serves a purpose, fits a need and does the job well.
At first I looked at stairs because I thought they would fold up better, but after some careful consideration and some online research I found out that ramps are actually better for dogs with this kind of injury, or perhaps even in general. So then I started looking up ramps. I problem I really found was that my car is really small and doesn’t have a lot of room with two dogs and their stuff in the back seat and trunk. A lot of ramps are only two folds, and I didn’t think they would fit well in my car. Now, I think they might have been better fitting in my car, but I won’t fault this item for my choice.
So I ended up with these. First off, this puts just as much wear and tear on my body as picking my dog up did, because this ramp is heavy and awkward. The tri-fold is difficult to unfold. Mostly I had to put it on the ground and unfold each piece, while listening to it scrape against the ground with a wince. Then lift it onto the trunk and attach it.
Now, despite it’s bulky awkwardness, this product does work for what I need it for. I had to do a little bit of practice with one of my dogs to get her used to the texture and everything. First we put it on the ground and let her walk across it that way before putting it up against the car. It is a little bendy when the dogs put their weight on it, so it can definitely spook some dogs. Still, shortly, my girl was doing up and down it with relative ease. I don’t think the surface material is the best, but it worked and there wasn’t any slippage or anything.
It definitely works for us. I wish there was a way to make it lighter, but I suspect it wouldn’t be a safe and sturdy as it is now. I would definitely recommend it to others.
My large black Labrador started to struggle jumping into the back of my pick up truck, he wasn`t sure about the ramp at first but he now loves it and has no problem getting in and out the back. The ramp has been a godsend.
Very easy to use, lay a towel on it as dog didn’t like the sound it makes without it.
Found to be very good but a little heavy dog uses this with ease
Good quality and fits a Land Rover Discovery 4 beautifully. Mac Mutt the big black Labrador is not keen but he is slowly getting used to it.
An absolute must. So easy to get dogs in and out of car, they love it too.
Now for the ramps themselves. They are made of very thick plastic and will fold into a suitcase shape easily. They are heavy and have a handle when folded. The ramps are black and the no-slip surface is gray and feels like sandpaper. I haven’t tried them yet getting her into the back of my jeep but don’t think there will be a problem. The ramps will flex a little when she goes up and down, but not much. I may have my grandson build a small brace underneath if I see it needs it. They are wide enough that I could have gotten by with just one ramp, but using the two together makes an excellent ramp for her. They seem very sturdy and I know they will hold 200 lbs. That’s what I weigh and I walked up and down before I let her on them. All in all, these are one of the best things I’ve ever gotten for my dogs and I wish I had gotten them sooner. Also, when I ordered them, the sale price for two was less than the regular price for one and was much less than other ramps I looked at.
Product just as described in advert. Very happy with bpth product and service
It’s a good product but I could not get my 130 lb male Rhodesian Ridgeback to climb it. I first put it in a doorway with a small step, for over a week, so he could get used to it. He was walking on it thru the doorway but he would not do the climb into the SUV. He would get his front legs about half way up the ramp and then start shaking, he would then step one of his rear legs off the ramp and colapse on to the ramp with half has body falling off the ramp. It was painfull for him because of his hip issues and too tramatic to keep trying. At 130 lbs there just wasn’t a lot I could do to help him. We have a smaller 80 lb Rhodesian that I could guide and hold as she climbed. She did it but we did not need the ramp for her. The ramp does have a little bounce to it which can spook the dog. Our dogs dug their nails into the ramp when trying to climb. With it only being a couple of weeks old it now looks well used with all the scratches. I don’t believe the scatches hurt the ramp but may make it difficult for me to try to resell it to someone else.
A very handy ramp, the dog needs to get used to it.
This is an excellent product. My old lab loves it; previously he could not get in my XC60 as he could not jump that high any longer; now he can walk up and down with ease. Big advantage of this over its competitors is that it is wider. The surface has a good roughened finish (like sandpaper) that gives perfect grip for the old guy.
Very good product…works well for dogs that can’t jump into or out of vehicle. Needed to have a tri-fold since ramp must store between front and back seats in a Subaru Outback…barely enough room…product folded is quite thick. Also, can only be used for the back cargo area…doesn’t work for a side door on such a small vehicle. Dogs can be leery of it at first, but a little time…2 minutes…and treats solved the problem. Dogs prefer this to steps…in my opinion. The ramp is heavier than I anticipated, but I am a senior and manage just fine. Have not tried through a winter season yet.
Quite heavy to carry but very substantial and my two golden retrievers now walk up it with total confidence and swagger!
Very substantial. Little heavier than expected but sturdy. Very pleased , just have to convince our 11 year old greyhound to use it now!
Excellent product. Dogs soon got used to using the ramp. Only needed a couple of trys and they went up without a problem. Maybe shallow carpet on the surface might give greater help to a dog walking up it.
Very pleased with the dog ramp, as I have a German Shepherd that has recently had an operation on her left hind leg, so it is much easier for her to get into the car. The only down side is it is a bit heavy but as she is a large breed she needs a large ramp.
Good product, but as others have stated the surface is far too rough. I have glued some carpet to the surface and the dogs will now use it. It could be a little better designed, with improved carry handles etc, as it is a large heavy product.
brilliant, nice and easy to use even with a very old dog. Arrived early, great seller.
sent back, as it was to big for my car and heavier than expected
Great product. Duke my English mastiff is 16stone at the moment(puppy) and although it took a little training, he finds it a great help to get in and out of the Discovery.
Sturdy and sensible. Easy to carry and fold. Would recommend – especially for big dogs
quick delivery. Excellent price and our dog is happy to use it six weeks after having a leg operation. So very happy with purchase.
ive had several of these over the years. I think they are the best ramps. 2 minor issues: they don’t last forever, textured surface wears off after say 2 years. big and bulky, can damage car seat if stored carelessly. otherwise all good.
I have two golden retrievers, one is 43kg and one is 37kg and both use this ramp. Its stable, well made and allows my dogs to get into the back of my pick up (L200).
Would use this seller again.
This was the best product we could find on the market and is well designed, sturdy and strong. No problem in getting our dog to use it. The rough (sandpaper-like texture) surface means that friction is not a problem, even with a relatively steep slope to a high car (Toyota Previa), and there is a carrying handle and clip for folding into 3 sections. It is not particularly light, and does take up a bit of boot space, which would be an issue in a really small boot.Treats at the top of the ramp may be useful to get your mutt started!
I don’t think the pic above shows how really thick the product is, and on my 2014 Explorer the ramp is more steep. It seems really huge and bulky. It takes up way more space than anticipated in my SUV. I didn’t like it at first because of the size and bulk. It is awkward and not at all graceful or smooth to set up, but I am guessing I will develop a system instead of looking like a circus act each time. As I thought about all the “cons”, I decided that all of these things are probably necessary for sturdiness. Much thinner and it wouldn’t support my dog without collapsing or sagging. So since my aging dog needs a ramp it is just a necessity and it is sturdy. She doesn’t love it, but with my help she’ll use it. The width is more than I like, but if it was any narrower it would be really tough to get her to use it (she isn’t super-brave). So again, the “con” is really just a necessary feature.
My poor old dog is so relieved to have this. It is very sturdy and very good value.
Thank you for making his later years a lot easier.
Found it really good and the dog got used to going up and down very quickly. Life save
works well a little bit heavy for the wife to use, but it dose the job it was bought fo
Bought this for my 1year old newfoundland to help her in and out of the car. She took to it very easily. It is well made and is easy to fold up and secure.
We got this because both of our labs are getting older and seem to have a hard time getting into the back of our Xterra. This worked great for that. Well, we traded the Xterra in for a new 4Runner. The rear deck is a bit higher now, making the ramp steeper. Also the ledge of the rear bumper is pretty deep on the 4Runner, and painted instead of rubberized plastic. So now we cover the cargo area with a large utility blanket and are sure to cover the bumper now before placing the ramp near it. I’m not sure there’s much that can be done about it, but the ramp itself is quite bulky. If we had one dog it wouldn’t be a big deal but with two dogs we may need to figure something else out. Good product, just make sure it’s right for your situation.
Update: After a few tries, the dog that needed this ramp the most refuses to use it so we are going to have to pick her up. If your dog is skittish this may not be for you. It’s still a good product and as advertised.
Only bad points I have to say about it is that the surface is rather rough which ofc is to help stop the dog from slipping but it would damage the car seats if you dont wrap it up in a towel, the only other issue is although it is wide due to the size of my dog hes very close to the edges when walking up and down it.
Overall though a very good product and if you want to make your dog’s life alittle easier its definatly worth the money.
This product has been extemely helpful for my labrador as he enters old age and has arthritis but still wants to go for his outings in the car. I was concerned that the ramp wouldn’t be successful for a larger dog but actually it is fine, and after a little coaxing he walks up the ramp no problem. The only downside is I keep scraping my hands on it as the surface is like rough sandpaper – however I am being more careful now! Obviously it needs to have a grippy surface to avoid the dog slipping. So overall I am pleased with the product and would recommend.
Until now I’ve been picking him up and setting him on the seat every time. Not a big chore, but the old guy isn’t a fan of being picked up all that much.
I ordered this ramp to use when I’m too tired to pick him up or when I wearing clothes I don’t want to get covered in dog hair. It works exactly as described. 25 minutes of training flat on the ground, then against the couch and finally up the truck and he goes up it pretty well now.
PROs:
Does exactly what it’s sold to do. Creates a stable ramp from ground to door sill on my truck for the dog to walk up.
Easily supports an 80+lb dog.
Wide enough that he’ll not step off by accident.
Pretty compact for a durable ramp that folds into three sections and can support so much weight. It easily fits in a trunk, on the back seat of any car or in the bed of a truck/SUV.
Has a built in carrying handle and a locking swivel that holds the ramp from unfolding by itself when stored.
The surface is pretty much sand paper glued to the top. Easily replaceable when worn off.
Rubber grips on edges of ramp so it doesn’t slide on the ground or off the vehicle.
CONs are the obvious things:
It’s not tiny. But in it’s defense it’s a 70 inch long ramp, 20 inches wide made of plastic that can hold a 200 lb dog. Were you expecting it to fit in your purse? Folded up it’s about a foot thick, 20 inches wide and just over two feet long.
It weighs about 29 lbs. May be a bit heavy and bulky for a weaker person. Then again, if you have a dog in the size range that needs this ramp, you had better be able to control the dog too. If you can’t pick this ramp up, you can’t control your large dog either when it bolts. Think about it.
The installed sand paper surface wears pretty fast it seems. You’ll have to replace it with your own sticky sandpaper eventually.
It only took two attempts to get her to use it, now I have to slow her down as when I put up the ramp she is raring to go.
I am a pensioner of slight build but I have no difficulty in lifting the ramp in and out of the car and putting it in place.
The only thing to be aware of is the surface of the ramp is like sandpaper so it needs to be wrapped to protect the interior of car from scratches. It would be nice if they provided a bag to put the ramp in.
It can take a dog weighing up to 200lbs.
The pet ramp is made from tough plastic with robust hinges. Non-slip grit type surfaces ensure good grip. It easily folds down for storage in the boot. The low weight makes the ramp easily handlable.
One review said their dog doesn’t like it. Suggest using a treat; piece of sausage or biscuit to entice it up and down the ramp until it gets used to it; a treat works wonders!
Another reviewer said the non-slip surface scratched the car seats; well either put it in the boot; put a blanket on the seat or wrap up the folded ramp.
Ideal piece of kit, especially the lightened version.
