Heavy duty ramp claims OK to 200lbs. Our Great Dane weighs in at 180 lb / 80 kilos & it takes his weight well. No problem training to use & has saved him jumping & impacting his shoulders. Non slip surface. Chunky device that takes up car space when folded but expected. Prompt delivery. Recommended.

We have a 50kilo Akita with arthritis, this ramp doesn’t give a fraction. Extremely sturdy, easy to use. Downside it is a bit cumbersome to carry round on the back seats. Could do with a bag for when not in use.

It takes up a lot of room in the car when folded up. Also I can be a hassle to set up in public to get the dogs out. For me it not great but for others, it might be. Ive given it 4 starts because it is a good product and can hold a heavy dog. Mine is a Newfoundland.

I really like this ramp! My Rottweiler is 8 years old, and has a hard time getting around. This ramp easily unfolds and attaches to the back of my Chevy Equinox. I have to lead my dog up and down the ramp by holding his collar, but he has never had a problem. I was worried after reading other reviews of the grip on the ramp, but It has worked fine for us. This is really a lifesaver for us as we can no longer lift our dog in and out of the car. I would purchase again! 4 Stars due to the size- It is bulky and hard to store in the vehicle on trips, but i’m not sure there is really a way around that .

I have an 11 month old Bernese Mountain Dog who took to using this immediately. Relatively easy to open and close but is a bit heavy and a lot bigger than I was expecting. I am not too impressed that on the first practise the dog’s claws scratched the ramp however.

A good buy for a heavy dog

I had been looking for a ramp for a while and this one is just right for my 8 mth old Newfoundland who is 50kg at present with a lot more growing to do . It saves his joints and my back win win ! It’s very sturdy and wide enough that he feels confident on it . It is fairly heavy and obviously takes up room in the car but couldn’t be easier to unfold and put away .

I bought this for my aging Husky who has arthritis. I have only used it once, I admit, as mostly we go to the vet where parking is limited and people dont leave enough room between cars. I like it and will keep it for my pups as it is light enough for me to sort out and put away on my own and easily holds a 37kg husky so is sturdy. I think its a handy tool to have, but not something I use on a daily basis

I have a 55 kilo dog and it handled his weight, fairly lucky our dog went up it with a bit of push, it is quite steep, other may struggle. Once folded it is bulky, we have a P207 and I store it in the boot ready it takes up half of the boot, no room in the boot to store once the dog is in the car.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersFound it easy to unfold, I have back problems so am finding it a little heavy, the handle and compact size when it folds up is good. Since it is heavier, less bounce when the dogs walk up it, is a little steep, and if you had a higher SUV would even be steeper. We purchased the 70 inch length for that reason, so not as steep. Overall we are happy with the purchase. We had looked at some in Pet Smart but this one was much better. The surface is rough, and did scratch, the first few times the dogs went up, but as they got use to it was much better. We have two senior dogs one is 100 pounds and the other is 80 pounds.

Excellent service. Ordered this on the 29th Dec. Got an email to say it would be delivered on the 2nd Jan which I was happy with. It came on the 31st Dec. Mega happy!
The ramp itself is very well built. Looks strong. Excellent grip. We have a Mazda CX-5 and it’s perfect. There is a slight spring in it but when our dog goes on it he’s fine with it. I’m sure it’ll flatten out. It took 2mins for him to go up it. The weight it’ll take is also impressive. Our dog weighs 50kg and it’s no problem. I stood on it gently and it took my weight but I was only on it a second. It folds up nicely and locks into place. First impressions are very good. I would and will recommend this ramp

Golden Review Award: 48 From Our UsersI have 2 large goldens and a Jeep Wrangler that we use as a tow vehicle for our camper. The pups are extremely selective about whether or not they’ll be inclined to jump into the back of the Jeep when we need to take them somewhere. Since my Jeep is black and they both have cream/white fur, I don’t want them to ride in the back seat because we’ll never be able to have people who would want to sit in that hairy mess! I bought this ramp and it’s been a godsend in being able to get the dogs into the back of the Jeep. It’s sturdy but very lightweight so that I can hold both dogs (and they are not well behaved on leash most times) with one hand and set up the ramp with the other hand and then just march them right up the ramp into the back. It folds up nicely and has a handle that allows me to collapse it and stick it either in the back with the dogs or on the floor of the back seat.

Golden Review Award: 111 From Our UsersI bought this for my 11-year-old large (80 lb) Lab mix who could no longer jump into my Outback. I also wanted it to aid his transition from ground to vehicle following back surgery (him, not me). He is too heavy for me to lift and after several days of gradual habituation, he had no qualms about using it. The surface is no-slick sand-paper-like and he never lost his footing, which would have frightened him. It was wide enough to make him and me comfortable regarding footing, especially since his hindquarters were losing coordination due to the back problem.

I began by placing the ramp folded into the smaller length flat on a floor in a narrow hallway where he would have to walk over it to get to where he wanted to go. After two days, I opened it to the second section; after three days I opened it all the way.

Next, I placed the double length on the first step of my stairway to the upstairs where we all sleep. I blocked the sides so he would have to walk up the ramp to the second step. After two nights I opened it all the way and placed it on the second step. The next two nights I placed it on the third step. I never “trained” him to use it; only made it a routine part of access to areas he wanted to get to. I never made a big deal of his using it and I walked on it to so he could follow.

The next day I introduced the ramp into the vehicle and with stinky cheese, urged him to walk all the way into the cargo area of the car. He did so without a blink. I took him to one of our favorite places–a lake with a natural path for a walk. This way he associated the ramp with a new freedom to be able to get into the car again and go someplace fun.

By the time I had to load him for his trip to the hospital for back surgery, he knew the ramp meant he could go with me anywhere. By “loading” the association of the ramp with pleasant experiences before the hospital trip, he did not separate the experience and associate the ramp with the vet office. Mission accomplished!

Great product; wide, non-slip, sturdy, did not wobble or creak, never slid off the bumper (a sure way to instill fear in a dog). Easy to fold up, not too heavy, easy to store. Solid sections when folded all the way out–no bounce. Bought sight unseen but I am very impressed! Good value price-wise too.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersFor my 15 year old dog, this is a lifesaver. I have a 2011 Ford Explorer and it sits perfectly in place and doesn’t scratch any surface. The ramp surface is heavily textured, but if your dog has trouble with it, just lay some old towels on top for better traction. I also lay a treat at the top of the ramp so she will willingly go up and into her kennel. It folds up easily, locks together with a hook, and I put it next to her kennel to have when we are at our destination. She had to have surgery and I needed a way to have her get in and out of the vehicle and not be handled and not put any stress on the incision area. Perfect. It is also wider and longer than some as steepness can be an issue depending on the vehicle height. The price I got this at was the best available and now I see it is being sold at a higher price. I hope they will reconsider that for others.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersExcellent dog ramp that is very strong, the only downside is the sandpaper finish. I am fitting rubber on top of the sandpaper as rubber provides a much better grip for the dogs whereas the sandpaper finish causes damage to everything it touches! All in all it is a good product and the width is just right as many ramps are too narrow for dogs to get their balance.

Excellent quality, doesn’t flex, plenty sturdy enough for my 37kg dog. Good length for 4x4s, slope not too steep. Nice & wide with good grip so dog feels steady. Rubber feet top & bottom prevent it slipping and has a handy strap & clip at the top to fasten to where the door catch is. Folds up small enough to fit (just) in front footwell. Light to carry & very easy to open & fold up. Has hook to keep it all together when folded. Very well thought out invention 🙂

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI have an elderly GSD and wanted a ramp to help him get in and out of my Honda CRV and firstly purchased a two section ramp. This was much too steep an angle for my dog so I bought the tri-fold version which proved to be so much better. However I found that he still slipped quite badly on the sandpaper finish on the ramp and needed assistance. Since then I’ve cut and glued ribbed nylon door mats onto the ramp (with the ribbing across sideways). This has worked brilliantly and now my dog can stroll up it without any help.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersI like the idea of this ramp.
I think the car I am to be using it on is too high. It is an old pathfinder. I think it was 25 inches to the bumper.

Dog was suddenly not keen on hopping in the small back doors, we noticed that he was not using his back legs so much. So we decided on this and also got him some physical therapy. The PT was helpful as she fixed one of his vertebra so now he can leap better. But he is getting on and I have to think of the next time I am somewhere with him and he will not or cannot get into the car by jumping.

I couldn’t decide between the ramp or stairs. The youtube videos made me think the ramp was easy as those dogs ran up it. Those dogs are not my dog. These were less pricey than the stairs and they had great reviews. I got the reflective yellow on black as my dog might not see so well especially at night. I got the trifold as my husband measure that only this one would fold up small enough to fit in the car.

The three times we tried this in the field, he jumped off it midway every time. The last time I ended up with an 80 pound dog in my arms with his two front feet almost to the car. We were frozen there and had to get assistance from my husband to get out of that. My husband and I had been each on a side of the ramp to guide him up. I have no idea what happened as it went so fast. I got concerned that this pup was going to injure himself more.

We will continue to keep it flat and train him to stay on the path and try again slowly raising the angle. Though, if it were me, I would be concerned with the angle I am expecting him to walk, if it were me walking it.

The slope has a very fine sandpaper-like finish. Not slippery, not too rough. Dog likes to file his nails on it.

It has a way of folding itself and a little latch to keep it closed. We can fit it easily in the back of the car.

Slightly heavy, but not like picking up an older 80 pound dog who wants to do everything on his own and trying to put him in a car. That is a treat.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersMy 9 year old german shepherd has developed arthritis in her hips and spine. She can’t hop up and down into the back seat of my 2005 Silverado crew cab pickup anymore. Although this product is designed for the rear hatch of SUVs and station wagons it DOES work on the rear side door of my pickup, with a little common sense of course.

With the ramp angled next to the rear door the dog can walk up, but the ramp can slide while the dog is on it. At the moment I put my foot at the base of the ramp to keep it from sliding. I intend to put in a tie down to quickly attach the provided strap eventually, If you’re a true pick up guy I’m sure you could figure this out. My truck doesn’t have any accommodations for the provided strap, but I’m not using it as intended, so no points deducted for sliding.
they do sell a strap for this purpose. It goes straight up and hooks on the top of the door. I’m not certain it would prevent lateral sliding, but I could be wrong. Check it out for yourself here on amazon.

This folds up nicely, although the little plastic hook isn’t reliable. That’s not really a big deal. It’s not too heavy, my wife and I can easily sling it into the bed of the truck while we are driving and it folds small enough to be secured in the back seat when we get the dog where she is going.

The first time I used it another fellow in a pickup was driving passed, he pulled a u-turn to come back to ask me about the ramp. Turns out he needs one for his dog too. It certainly serves a purpose, fits a need and does the job well.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersOne of my dogs recently was injured. At first I was just thinking of lifting her in and out of the car. I have a Nissan Versa, smallish car, so it’s not very high. However, two things changed my mind about doing that. First off is that I have a chronic pain disorder and lifting her was putting more stress on my body than I should have been, so I was putting myself in more pain than usual. Second was that I couldn’t seem to lift her without hurting HER, due to the location of her injury. So I had to explore other options.

At first I looked at stairs because I thought they would fold up better, but after some careful consideration and some online research I found out that ramps are actually better for dogs with this kind of injury, or perhaps even in general. So then I started looking up ramps. I problem I really found was that my car is really small and doesn’t have a lot of room with two dogs and their stuff in the back seat and trunk. A lot of ramps are only two folds, and I didn’t think they would fit well in my car. Now, I think they might have been better fitting in my car, but I won’t fault this item for my choice.

So I ended up with these. First off, this puts just as much wear and tear on my body as picking my dog up did, because this ramp is heavy and awkward. The tri-fold is difficult to unfold. Mostly I had to put it on the ground and unfold each piece, while listening to it scrape against the ground with a wince. Then lift it onto the trunk and attach it.

Now, despite it’s bulky awkwardness, this product does work for what I need it for. I had to do a little bit of practice with one of my dogs to get her used to the texture and everything. First we put it on the ground and let her walk across it that way before putting it up against the car. It is a little bendy when the dogs put their weight on it, so it can definitely spook some dogs. Still, shortly, my girl was doing up and down it with relative ease. I don’t think the surface material is the best, but it worked and there wasn’t any slippage or anything.

It definitely works for us. I wish there was a way to make it lighter, but I suspect it wouldn’t be a safe and sturdy as it is now. I would definitely recommend it to others.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI am so pleased with these ramps. My 120 lb. Rottie was having a lot of trouble going up and down the five steps on my front porch. She is getting old and would go sideways when coming up the steps. Then that didn’t work after a while and she would stand there and just cry. I couldn’t lift her so I started researching pet ramps. Most I found were more narrow than these. I ordered two because I wasn’t sure if one would be wide enough. I placed them side by side on one side of the steps going up to my front porch. That leaves a wide space for me with steps and a wide ramp for her. My little beagle trotted right up and down with no problem. But my Rottie didn’t like the no-slip surface of the ramp. Don’t know why. So I took an old rubber backed small area rug and laid on top of the double ramp. I laid a trail of treats for her and after she went up and down once, now she goes with no problems
Now for the ramps themselves. They are made of very thick plastic and will fold into a suitcase shape easily. They are heavy and have a handle when folded. The ramps are black and the no-slip surface is gray and feels like sandpaper. I haven’t tried them yet getting her into the back of my jeep but don’t think there will be a problem. The ramps will flex a little when she goes up and down, but not much. I may have my grandson build a small brace underneath if I see it needs it. They are wide enough that I could have gotten by with just one ramp, but using the two together makes an excellent ramp for her. They seem very sturdy and I know they will hold 200 lbs. That’s what I weigh and I walked up and down before I let her on them. All in all, these are one of the best things I’ve ever gotten for my dogs and I wish I had gotten them sooner. Also, when I ordered them, the sale price for two was less than the regular price for one and was much less than other ramps I looked at.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersI have a VERY Large dog. She is a 10 month old English Mastiff and already weighing in around 120 lbs. I was iffy about purchasing this ramp because it was on sale for only $42, but for that price I decided I had to give it a shot. We travel a lot and she rides in the back of our pick up but she has a very difficult time loading up. The ramp came in today and we gave it a try right away. First trip up she was hesitant but with a few treats and commands up and down (load up and down) she was doing great. It was plenty wide enough and sturdy although when I first set it up I didn’t think it would be. I like that it folds up and it’s pretty easy to tote considering that it’s a ramp. It is very steep for a pick up and she was digging her nails in for traction because of the angle, but it did the job. She has left scratch marks on it and I don’t anticipate the non skid material to last long but that can be fixed. Overall for what I paid I am satisfied. I am sure there are much better products out there if you want to spend way more but this will do just fine for us. It has a non slip surface under the lip where it props up on the tail gate but I wish there was a way to attach it to the tail gate better because the cord is really for attaching it to an SUV. I kept my foot at the base and a hand on it while loading her to make sure it didn’t move but I probably would have given it 5 stars if I didn’t have to do that.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI purchased this ramp because my twelve year old dog could no longer jump onto her chair or into the car. It is quite sturdy plus it is longer and wider than I expected. It is relatively easy to fold and unfold but you need to practice a bit to be comfortable. I began using it in the house before we tried the car. Since it is long enough to make the grade easy on your dog, it can interfere with other cars trying to get around you. Park in an area that won’t make you and the dog nervous. The material that is used to make it non slip feels like a low grit sandpaper so I cover the ramp with a yoga mat to give it just a bit of a cushion. If your dog is rather big, expect the ramp to ‘give’ a little in the areas where it folds when they are using it. It did take time, training and treats to get her to use it but now she uses it with little coaxing and I feel pretty relaxed. I would recommend this ramp for any dog and their owner.

It’s a good product but I could not get my 130 lb male Rhodesian Ridgeback to climb it. I first put it in a doorway with a small step, for over a week, so he could get used to it. He was walking on it thru the doorway but he would not do the climb into the SUV. He would get his front legs about half way up the ramp and then start shaking, he would then step one of his rear legs off the ramp and colapse on to the ramp with half has body falling off the ramp. It was painfull for him because of his hip issues and too tramatic to keep trying. At 130 lbs there just wasn’t a lot I could do to help him. We have a smaller 80 lb Rhodesian that I could guide and hold as she climbed. She did it but we did not need the ramp for her. The ramp does have a little bounce to it which can spook the dog. Our dogs dug their nails into the ramp when trying to climb. With it only being a couple of weeks old it now looks well used with all the scratches. I don’t believe the scatches hurt the ramp but may make it difficult for me to try to resell it to someone else.

This is an excellent product. My old lab loves it; previously he could not get in my XC60 as he could not jump that high any longer; now he can walk up and down with ease. Big advantage of this over its competitors is that it is wider. The surface has a good roughened finish (like sandpaper) that gives perfect grip for the old guy.

Very good product…works well for dogs that can’t jump into or out of vehicle. Needed to have a tri-fold since ramp must store between front and back seats in a Subaru Outback…barely enough room…product folded is quite thick. Also, can only be used for the back cargo area…doesn’t work for a side door on such a small vehicle. Dogs can be leery of it at first, but a little time…2 minutes…and treats solved the problem. Dogs prefer this to steps…in my opinion. The ramp is heavier than I anticipated, but I am a senior and manage just fine. Have not tried through a winter season yet.

Very pleased with the dog ramp, as I have a German Shepherd that has recently had an operation on her left hind leg, so it is much easier for her to get into the car. The only down side is it is a bit heavy but as she is a large breed she needs a large ramp.

Good product, but as others have stated the surface is far too rough. I have glued some carpet to the surface and the dogs will now use it. It could be a little better designed, with improved carry handles etc, as it is a large heavy product.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWe have a 10 year old Lab who was having a hard time getting into my car sometimes. I have a smaller SUV (Saturn VUE) but occasionally he’d slip and I didn’t want to see him hurt himself so I purchased this ramp. The ramp works great for my car. It’s wider than some of the other ones I was looking at which is nice because it gives my dog more room for error while walking on it. It only took him a few tries (with some treats of course) to get him use to the idea and now he has no problem using it. I like that it has grips on the top to help my dog grip easier when walking up or down as well. It’s slightly heavy, but we really don’t have to move it very much other than in and/or out of the car so it’s not a big deal. It folds up nicely and has a safety latch to help keep it secure when it’s folded. I would highly recommend this product to anyone with a larger dog who has a SUV type vehicle.

This was the best product we could find on the market and is well designed, sturdy and strong. No problem in getting our dog to use it. The rough (sandpaper-like texture) surface means that friction is not a problem, even with a relatively steep slope to a high car (Toyota Previa), and there is a carrying handle and clip for folding into 3 sections. It is not particularly light, and does take up a bit of boot space, which would be an issue in a really small boot.Treats at the top of the ramp may be useful to get your mutt started!

I don’t think the pic above shows how really thick the product is, and on my 2014 Explorer the ramp is more steep. It seems really huge and bulky. It takes up way more space than anticipated in my SUV. I didn’t like it at first because of the size and bulk. It is awkward and not at all graceful or smooth to set up, but I am guessing I will develop a system instead of looking like a circus act each time. As I thought about all the “cons”, I decided that all of these things are probably necessary for sturdiness. Much thinner and it wouldn’t support my dog without collapsing or sagging. So since my aging dog needs a ramp it is just a necessity and it is sturdy. She doesn’t love it, but with my help she’ll use it. The width is more than I like, but if it was any narrower it would be really tough to get her to use it (she isn’t super-brave). So again, the “con” is really just a necessary feature.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersQuite heavy and a very rough surface which I guess you need for the dog to grip. However he has slipped on it and grazed himself a few times. Took a while for him to use it but perseverance paid off in the end and saves me trying to lift a 40 kilo golden retriever up. Folds up nicely which is fine in an estate car but probably to big for most hatch bags. Happy with purchase.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersJust bought one of these second-hand for our arthritic labrador to allow her to get into our motorhome. The item is bulky but needs to be to give the strength and stability. She managed the ramp with a little food persuasion and showed no sign of slipping. Your dog will have to be sensible or may jump to the side. Will be able to store under the van when not needed. Glad we went for this one. Also make sure it doesn’t slip backwards as the door walks up and down as there is a bit of bounce. There is a loop for security.

My only small complaint – hence 4 stars – is that the clip which attaches the ramp to the boot lock was not big enough to go round the one on our VW Tiguan. It was easy enough to buy a bigger one though, just a nuisance.

We got this because both of our labs are getting older and seem to have a hard time getting into the back of our Xterra. This worked great for that. Well, we traded the Xterra in for a new 4Runner. The rear deck is a bit higher now, making the ramp steeper. Also the ledge of the rear bumper is pretty deep on the 4Runner, and painted instead of rubberized plastic. So now we cover the cargo area with a large utility blanket and are sure to cover the bumper now before placing the ramp near it. I’m not sure there’s much that can be done about it, but the ramp itself is quite bulky. If we had one dog it wouldn’t be a big deal but with two dogs we may need to figure something else out. Good product, just make sure it’s right for your situation.

Update: After a few tries, the dog that needed this ramp the most refuses to use it so we are going to have to pick her up. If your dog is skittish this may not be for you. It’s still a good product and as advertised.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI recently purchased one of these ramps for my dog as he had a knee operation a few months ago and needed something to make it easier for him to get in and out of the car, I was alittle worried about the strength of it as my dog weighs 178 pounds so is close to the weight limit but it holds him pretty well, ofc it bends alittle due to his weight but supports him well. Due to it folding into 3 sections it makes it easy to transport as it fits into my passenger seat since there is no room in the back after the dog gets in.

Only bad points I have to say about it is that the surface is rather rough which ofc is to help stop the dog from slipping but it would damage the car seats if you dont wrap it up in a towel, the only other issue is although it is wide due to the size of my dog hes very close to the edges when walking up and down it.

Overall though a very good product and if you want to make your dog’s life alittle easier its definatly worth the money.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersOk BIG dog fans, after nearly 7 years, I bought my second Pet gear tri-fold ramp. I love this ramp! My Newfoundland was 85 lbs at 12 weeks and we could no longer or wanted to lift him into the Blazer (SUV). Didn’t want to pay for bad joints later or injure our backs. Start `em out young. Fear of the ramp was outweighed by “Let’s go!”. Our first ramp was a two-piece slide and it broke in about a week. Found the tri-fold ramp w/large steel pin hinging and my husband said WOW this is really well made and bought it immediately. My Newf is 190 lbs. w/almost 5 inch diameter paws and very large boned. The old ramp had give to it and he used it like a spring board which is surprising it lasted this long. The old tri-fold broke at one of the hinging areas (plastic encircling the steel pin) luckily near the ground. We use the ramp on average (in and out) once a day. On weekends it is several times a day so about 4,800 uses over its life? What’s that .03 cents a use… With his huge toe nails & weight digging in for traction, of course there are scratches in the non-skid areas but he’s never slipped even when the ramp was wet. I would worry about carpet snagging a toe nail or get wet and stink as we keep the ramp in the SUV. Our mud magnet can really trash the ramp but it hoses off & dries quickly. It is a bit heavy and takes up some room but anything sturdier or wider would take up more room and be even heavier. Its weight is not a problem for us and the new one actually seems lighter. The lip curves over the tailgate of the 04 Blazer well for getting out and never slides around. The lower step under the tailgate works well for getting in with just a bit of a hop. I have never found stability a problem. In setting up the new one I removed the stability strap as it was looped under the lip causing the ramp to slide back and forth. When he can’t make the little hop in anymore, he certainly won’t be able to walk and pull himself up the height that the ramp has to make into our SUV. So shape and height of any given vehicle’s tailgate or ramp entrance should be considered before purchasing. Many have stopped and asked us where to get such a great ramp for big dogs as they watched our boy go in or out. I’ve had the new one for several weeks now, I believe the mfg’r has read reviews because the traction grit has been increased (can hurt the knuckles) and the lower hinging area has more of an arc so less bounce. Maybe the next best thing would be a lift-gate of sorts. I have not seen a sturdier (take with you) ramp anywhere. For what it is worth, I give this BIG kid ramp a BIG 5!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI purchased the Pet Gear Tri-Fold Pet Ramp for our large (110 lb)Labrador Retriever who had to have surgery on his right leg. We have two SUVs, one large and one medium sized, and this ramp works well on both cars. We put our dog on a short lead and choke chain while walking up and down the ramp because it is not very wide and and we can’t let him fall or jump off on his injured leg. The sand paper-like inserts on the ramp seem to be working well to give our dog enough traction so he doesn’t slip. I have found the ramp heavy and quite cumbersome to open and set up. However, once it is in place, it seems sturdy enough to easily hold my dog. The safety strap that attaches to the door latch has a plastic hook which broke the 3rd time I used the ramp so I purchased a metal hook to attach the strap to the door latch and it is working fine. This ramp has made our trips to the Vet for follow-up appointments very easy on both our dog and us!

This product has been extemely helpful for my labrador as he enters old age and has arthritis but still wants to go for his outings in the car. I was concerned that the ramp wouldn’t be successful for a larger dog but actually it is fine, and after a little coaxing he walks up the ramp no problem. The only downside is I keep scraping my hands on it as the surface is like rough sandpaper – however I am being more careful now! Obviously it needs to have a grippy surface to avoid the dog slipping. So overall I am pleased with the product and would recommend.

Golden Review Award: 248 From Our UsersMy lab is about 12 years old and has been having a hard time jumping into my truck the past few months.

Until now I’ve been picking him up and setting him on the seat every time. Not a big chore, but the old guy isn’t a fan of being picked up all that much.

I ordered this ramp to use when I’m too tired to pick him up or when I wearing clothes I don’t want to get covered in dog hair. It works exactly as described. 25 minutes of training flat on the ground, then against the couch and finally up the truck and he goes up it pretty well now.

    PROs:

Does exactly what it’s sold to do. Creates a stable ramp from ground to door sill on my truck for the dog to walk up.

    Easily supports an 80+lb dog.

Wide enough that he’ll not step off by accident.

Pretty compact for a durable ramp that folds into three sections and can support so much weight. It easily fits in a trunk, on the back seat of any car or in the bed of a truck/SUV.

Has a built in carrying handle and a locking swivel that holds the ramp from unfolding by itself when stored.

The surface is pretty much sand paper glued to the top. Easily replaceable when worn off.

Rubber grips on edges of ramp so it doesn’t slide on the ground or off the vehicle.

    CONs are the obvious things:

It’s not tiny. But in it’s defense it’s a 70 inch long ramp, 20 inches wide made of plastic that can hold a 200 lb dog. Were you expecting it to fit in your purse? Folded up it’s about a foot thick, 20 inches wide and just over two feet long.

It weighs about 29 lbs. May be a bit heavy and bulky for a weaker person. Then again, if you have a dog in the size range that needs this ramp, you had better be able to control the dog too. If you can’t pick this ramp up, you can’t control your large dog either when it bolts. Think about it.

The installed sand paper surface wears pretty fast it seems. You’ll have to replace it with your own sticky sandpaper eventually.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersWe have a three year old Newfoundland bitch who would not jump into the back of our people carrier without help, this meant I could not take her out without my husband so we purchased the travel lite dog ramp.

It only took two attempts to get her to use it, now I have to slow her down as when I put up the ramp she is raring to go.

I am a pensioner of slight build but I have no difficulty in lifting the ramp in and out of the car and putting it in place.

The only thing to be aware of is the surface of the ramp is like sandpaper so it needs to be wrapped to protect the interior of car from scratches. It would be nice if they provided a bag to put the ramp in.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI was skeptical about ordering this ramp after reading many conflicting reviews. I was plesantly surprised when it arrived. It was easy to unfold and set up. My husband has a bad back and usually had to help our dog get into the back of our SUV which usually put a strain on his lower back. We have an 85lb lab who was not keen on using it without help. But, the first time we used it we only had to coax her slightly with a treat and she walked right up into the back of the vehicle. The ramp is wider than most, but you will still have to lead your dog and make sure it doesn’t fall off the ramp. We keep our dog on a lease with little tension and lead her up with a treat in front her her nose. She gets the small treat when she gets into the car. The first time I didn’t have a treat and used a small piece of cheese. that was all it took. The ramp in the folded position is pretty heavy and quite large. We cannot put it in the back of our vehicle with the dog in there too. I personally cannot lift it without a slight struggle. We have a BMW X3 with limited cargo space. We usually put the ramp in the back seat, or put the seats down which allows enough room for the ramp and dog, but no back seat passenger space. The ramp has a rough surface, probably for the dog to get a good paw grip, but it can also scratch arms and knuckles if you are not careful. Even though, it is a good product and totally fits our needs. We were looking for a very steardy ramp that we can use for our very large and heavy dog.

Golden Review Award: 30 From Our UsersI have just bought the light weight version, 14 lbs weight, with reduced width of 16 inches; but this is plenty wide enough for my Labrador.
It can take a dog weighing up to 200lbs.
The pet ramp is made from tough plastic with robust hinges. Non-slip grit type surfaces ensure good grip. It easily folds down for storage in the boot. The low weight makes the ramp easily handlable.
One review said their dog doesn’t like it. Suggest using a treat; piece of sausage or biscuit to entice it up and down the ramp until it gets used to it; a treat works wonders!
Another reviewer said the non-slip surface scratched the car seats; well either put it in the boot; put a blanket on the seat or wrap up the folded ramp.
Ideal piece of kit, especially the lightened version.

Golden Review Award: 123 From Our UsersThis is a life saver for my elderly dog. She has been having increasing difficulty getting in to the rear seat of my Ford Focus car. I was not sure if she would use it, however with minimal effort and the help of a bacon treat she mastered it and was not intimidated by it. Now she has a new comfy bed in the boot of the hatchback and with the lid removed permanently she is still in the car with me. My dog is a 42 kg German Shepherd x and this ramp is wide, long, non-slip and very strong. I would recommend it highly to anyone who’s best friend is having mobility problems. It may seem slightly expensive, but it is well worth every penny. I can also advise that my car is metallic black and 2 months old and the coating on this product does not chip or scratch the paintwork. I hope this helps anyone who has been having similar difficulties.
