    Great HUE lights but expensive
Another great Philips hue light product. I got these behind my TV and they do a great job of backlighting. As with all hue products they are pricey but do a great job and easy to install and use

Great but could easily be bette
I am a big fan of smart systems and as I have used Philips hue lights for a long time (2011) when these came up on Amazon deals I snapped them up with these I now own ten smart lights but my only issue with these is a wish that the mounts was a little more flexible in mounting turning etc other than that they do everything you need them to and would happily purchase agai

Only really for ambient lighting, but still great fun and high quality
As with the rest of the Philips Hue ecosystem, these are mega easy to set up, are totally reliable in operation, and have a phenomenal colour range. I operate mine through Alexa, and also through a Hue dimmer switch. You do need the Hue bridge though for both of these functions. With a dimmer switch, you can control the brightness and scenes of these bars in exactly the same way as you would do with a Hue light bulb.

These are so much fun for parties, and have some lovely effects such as candlelight and fireplace (as do all the Hue bulbs). Also by making each bar a subtly different colour you can truly transform the feeling of a room and give a warm, fun, exciting, spooky, or whatever feel you want.

Please be aware however that the illumination levels are not that bright. So while they’re adequate and perfect for filling the corner of a room with ambient lighting, don’t expect them to illuminate a whole room in any way. They won’t get anywhere near the brightness levels of a ceiling bulb.

I’m also not convinced they’re particularly great as TV backlighting if you have a large TV. I tried mine out with my 48 inch TV, but the illumination was a touch underwhelming, and too focused on only limited areas of the wall. I also found all the wires going into the back of the TV (HDMI cables, etc) just got in the way and ruined the overall effect of the lighting. I’ve switched back to TV led backlighting, which I’ve found to be a much more effective solution for TVs.

All in all however, I’ve been very happy with these bars. I love them despite the limitations. They are used on the bookcase of the family living room, and are perfect to use when watching films or relaxing in the evening. Great fun when friends come round. However you do need to consider that they seem to have quite specific uses, and shouldn’t be relied upon as part of your everyday room lighting. As stated, they won’t in any way replace the main ceiling light, or even a corner uplighter or table lamp. Thus, if you’re happy with these limitations, I do still totally recommend these.

Please let me know if you’ve found this review to be in any small way helpful. Thank you.

    Can't fault them
Keep an eye on model numbers as the newer ones have better capability than the older models

    Great behind a TV
We love our hue lights, look perfect behind our TV. We have them without the HDMI box to sync to the picture on the TV and are still really happy with them. Loads of different settings on the app to play around with. Bought a few more hue lights because of these.

    No UK adapter included
Great Product. The only problem was that the box did not include the UK style adapter for the plug. Fortunately I had a spare from a different hue product so it didn’t have to be returned.

    Very nice bu
Very nice. Very simple setup. Nice colour.
Only thing to complain is that the charger makes significant buzzing noise when lights are at full brightness. Very disappointing for such an expensive product. Should be premium quality when premium price.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersEasy to get working. (on a computer monitor)
We have an ambilight TV which came with LED’s all around the back of the screen which dynamically extends the colours of the image on the screen onto the wall behind the TV and really enhances whatever you are watching. I also have a large 4K monitor on my computer and wondered if it would be possible to do the same thing to the monitor. I had some sticky led strips and tried those, but they weren’t that bright and do not change colour synced to the screen. Eventually I chanced upon these Philips light bars, my first thought was: that’s exactly what I am after, my second thought was: they are a bit expensive. However, after reading umpteen reviews and watching several videos about them, I just had to try them. A word of warning: If you buy two LED units, you get that plus a power supply which can power up to three LED bars. If you buy a single led bar (known as an extension), it does not come with a power supply, this is not obvious from the description and Philips do not sell individual power supplies. I also bought a Philips Hue bridge which serves as a hub for lots of hue lights, not just light bars. The bridge must sit next to your router, or at least be connected to it by Ethernet cable. Next, download the Hue app onto your phone and get it to find the bridge, which is a doddle. Next install the power supply and light bars and put the light bars behind your monitor, or you could just sit them on your computer desk, they come with mounts to fit them either vertically or horizontally, I used the supplied 3M sticky pads and stuck them to the back of my monitor. Next download the app for your PC or MAC and run that, at which point you should be able to dynamically sync the light bars to whatever is on your PC’s screen. Within the computer app is a setting to start when your PC starts, without that it would have to be started every time you turn your computer on, with that set it just starts from the word go, when you power up your computer. As I type this waves of colour are washing all over the wall behind my monitor, so I don’t really mind spending a small fortune on this as it makes me happy (the dog likes it too :-).

    Fantastic
Fantastic lights. It’s one of those items that you don’t think you need but when you got it you can’t do without. Linked to the hue bridge & Alexa it’s amazing

    Awesome for gaming
When used with Hue sync and games on a PC it’s a game changing experience. 5 stars!

    Brilliant lights
Yes Hue is expensive but it’s an amazing product..it just works and is very effective. These play bar lights are brilliant, very bright. I have them on 40% and that’s enough light. If I was being criticalI have one design floor and that is the stand. It functions but has not been thought about the cable can still be seen. It should be fed through and disclosed

Reliable, mesmerising lights, though slightly expensive.
I could buy LED strips to compensate for what these Hue lights provide, but the problem with strips are that unless they’re hidden enough to diffuse the light only, the strips themselves don’t look attractive.

These Hue bars fix that issue; (and note there’s a white version which I really wish I knew before buying the black ones), these bars are a joy to physically look at, and they provide great ambient lighting of any colour with a decent range. I think out of all LED equipment I’ve bought, besides the nanoleaf which I use as a featured LED light, these are one of my more prouder investments.

    Great for movies
Easy to set up and connect to Hue bridge and Alexa. Lots of flexibility in brightness and colour using the Hue scene gallery.
Bought at a good price on Prime day but, as with all Philips Hue, not cheap.

Good, but not perfect - and overpriced
Generally a good addition to the Hue range. Overpriced even at discounted level. Shame the stands don’t allow for tilting at all.
