Having owned two irons with reservoirs before I was keen to find another. My previous models had both been expensive German versions but, having found their customer service disappointing to say the least, I decided to look elsewhere. This new Vaporella model is lighter and uses less water. It is less responsive than my previous units to be sure. Press the steam button and there’s a definite lag before the steam arrives. However, once you become accustomed to this slight inconvenience, you quickly get in to a rhythm. A worry too is that it supposedly only delivers steam at the hottest temperature setting. A concern for more delicate clothes perhaps although I haven’t burned anything as yet. It may not quite be as “all round good” as my previous machines but at about a THIRD of the cost? This has to be seen as good value for money.
I’ve had it a few weeks.

I am very pleased with this steam generated iron. Much lighter than my previous one and much more efficient. Less steam in my face but better steam on clothes, making things like linen a doddle. Love the place to store the plug and lead, making it easier to store and carry. Great, I love it.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersLove this iron, it’s really easy to use, and chugs out loads of steam on demand. I prefer to stand the base unit on the floor underneath the ironing board, the steam tube is plenty long enough, and I just park the iron on the ironing board between garments.. I looked at several brands and models, but chose this particular one because I liked the sole plate, which has plenty of steam holes – some don’t. I also liked the price; other more expensive ones did not seem to confer any additional benefits to justify their higher prices.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersLight weight is usually NOT a good thing with irons. Let the iron do the work, I say. 1.5 litres of water makes it pleasantly heavy. If you have weak wrists, just reduce the water level. The pursuit of light irons is worthless in my opinion, unless you have real health issues. However, then you probably won’t be able to replace the weight of the iron with the weight of your ‘push’, so……stick with a heavy one!
    PROS
    – Efficient steam function with boost and spray
    – Temperature adjuster responds fast
    – Allows for ‘vertical’ ironing to deal with long creases
    – Generous sized water tank, 1.5 litres (so don’t need to stop and re-fill so often when doing a large load)
    – Only takes 2 minutes to become hot enough to use
    CONS
The cons are minor, and to some degree a matter of opinion. Hence the survival of the 5 star rating!
    – Electric power goes into the iron, not into a stand. Normal for most irons, but less so when this high spec/expensive. Means that you are never free of the flex.
    – Flex is not very flexible! A possible weak point after substantial use.

This steam iron has all of the benefits of a much more expensive Phillips model @ 250-300 but a fraction of the cost. As you would expect with Polti, steam generation is effortless. Filling with water straightforwad, de-calcing a piece of cake and ironing, (the main part) nearly as smooth as our much more expensive model. There are a lot of budget steam iron models from household names, we moved from Phillips to Tefal recently and have been very happy. We have also reviewed a good budget model from Morphy Richards, that this will now replace as our backup as this is much stronger, better quality and with the de-calc and safety stow feature a no brainer!!
