The best points with this product is the extended arm feature and the lightness when using above head height. It is easy to use even in narrow and confined spaces. I am not the easiest person to please, as my wife will attest, but these loppers do a good job and are relatively cost effective. Thanks

I liked the weight of the loppers and they cut easily. I didn’t fix the extension handles well at first so they were a bit unstable but okay when I realised that the end of the handle had to be twisted firmly.

So pleased with this purchase, extremely well made, handle lock feature really good and easily to use. My old loppers had twist to lock handles and over time this didn’t hold very well when cutting difficult branches, but the lock system on these new ones seems great, only time will tell how long it will last, but impressed so far! I’m a woman who should be retired but the government won’t let me yet, so no spring chicken, but these cut with ease, like a hot knife through butter!

I bought these after staring for days at the 70ft of privet hedge threatening to take over my rear garden. We moved to a new house a couple of years ago and I was struggling to keep one hedge in order. It was wildly overgrown and our neighbour was not keen on wholesale cut down and let it start again as I had done with the other hedge. Thinning out the hedge was the only option. My chainsaws were too indiscriminate and my hand pruners were struggling.
I bought these pruners and I got the job done in a couple days. The features I most liked were the quality of the cutting blade and the adjustable handles which allowed me to achieve a long reach and to cut thick branches. These are well made and are good value for money.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI just looked these up again- to buy another one- I want to buy exactly the same again. I’m a Forest School leader and run sessions in a hazel coppice and we use these loppers every week. Light enough for kids to use and powerful enough for easy work. I have bought other loppers since that have fallen apart, but these are still going strong 4 years later! So I’m buying another, for my other Forest School and thought I should let others know how great they are, especially for the price. Larger branches (as always) need a handsaw, but these are perfect for lopping!

My wife is the reluctant gardener and needed something to get some low branches. These have turned into an excellent purchase and are standing up to the rigorous pruning regime we are having to put them through. Our helping hand (the mother in law) who is a very good gardener was so impressed she asked secret Santa for a pair. Branches up to an inch thick with ease and they are light with a good reach and have remained sharp and capable.

Love the way the ratchet works, makes cutting larger branches much easier. When extended they stay extended and don’t close down. The only drawback is when cutting thick branches at a horizontal level have to extend arms really wide and if there are thicker branches previously cut between branch want to cut it is a struggle and can’t cut at same or lower height. But overall a 1st rate addition to my gardening kit.

We used these on thick bamboo canes. A real test as the roots are solid wood. These worked better for thick stems and by starting wide and then ratcheting down to a small arc, it was satisfying to get used to the technique, used many many times to cut up the 15 metres stems, and make quick work of a difficult task. You have to bear in mind that the width at the hand end is quite wide to start with. Did not mind the noise of the ratchet at all.
My old pair were simpler for smaller stems, ie. thumb width, and in confined spaces, but for the large ones, brilliant. Remember that the anvil type tend to crush and bypass tend to give a sharper, cleaner cut but these are more powerful for big jobs. The blade does get stuck part way through thick limbs or canes, but not specified for that thickness. You have to knock it out! Just trying to avoid sawing! Very happy with the purchase. The right tool for the job is always the first step.

I bought these loppers after being quoted 350 quid to tame a massive bush (steady on) not tried on the bush yet because I’m too busy in the back garden taming some 750 quid (quoted) conifers, anyway these are brilliant especially the ratchet action. Only down point for people of a slight stature, on extending the handles fully, you have to hold your arms pretty wide, to get a thick branch between the blades, but it’s doable, in my opinion, GREAT BIT OF KIT……

I have used these in my work throughout the season on lots of different trees and shrubs. They are efficient at cutting through branches and easy to maneuver and extend due to their light but sturdy construction. provided I keep them sharp, lightly oiled and do not twist them during the cutting action or take on over sized branches I expect them to last for years. I do not often buy tools from manufacturers I have not heard of (I am a snap-on man) but these are, in my opinion worthy of the space in my van. I would like to try their secateurs at some point in the future. maybe they can send me some to review? Although sadly I have a bit of a habit of throwing secateurs out with my hedge clippings!

I got them to cut my 15ft high conifers which had got a bit out of control. Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersOn first use the safety clip fell off (still works but it just means the handles are a bit further apart when you store them).
Customer Service were very quick to send a replacement with no argument so I was impressed by that (although I was only after a replacement clip rather than the complete loppers!)

You have to open the handles almost to 180 degrees to get the jaws fully open – but of course it means you have more power because of the gearing so that is a good trade off most of the time.

I bought these to lop the tops off of a 30ft row of Leylandii. Straight away, I was impressed by their sturdy build, their lightness and the mechanism for extending the handles.
The branches I was cutting measured between 1 and 4 centimetres and required little effort on my part to cut through them, although the ratchet mechanism could on occasion malfunction and require having another go to cut through.
In all, I must have made about a thousand cuts but the cutting blade showed no sign of wear at the end and the mechanical action was just as positive.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThese are amazing, easily the best thing I’ve brought for garden work, and I have way more tools than I want to admit to. I needed some serious loppers to deal with some ivy growing on the second floor of our house. The roots are unfortunately in my neighbour’s garden and she won’t let me get rid of the plant, but I needed a way to reach as much of the branches/vines as I could to separate it from my house and kill it off.

These cut through the branches with ease, some of them are easily 3cm thick and maybe even more, but it wasn’t hard at all to snip through and make quick work of the ivy. I only have a tallish step ladder and standing on the top with these telescoped out to their full length, they’re over a meter and I could reach far higher than I expected. They’re pretty lightweight but after an hour of using them your arms will be sore, so it’s good for working your biceps I guess!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI was drawn the claim that these seem to be the only loppers that can cut through 60mm branches, and most of the shrubs in my garden have 59mm branches. A little fiddly to open all the way, but they worked. Pretty tough going, but it handled it though the handles felt just a little soft. Good cut, and cannot really expect any more in this price range. Would like a pair with telescopic handles, please?

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’ve had these for a while now and have used them a lot. Mainly for cutting back hedges that have overgrown. They are really good with an easy action and very sharp. The ratchet works well but sometimes it skips when you want it to click. If the wood you are cutting is really hard they will struggle a bit and sometimes I’ve had to admit defeat and resort to a saw but I’ve been surprised at how many thick branches I’ve been able to cut. The telescopic handles are great and make the difference when you need that extra reach. I would buy again.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersThese loppers are just the trick. They cope with both smaller and larger branches well, thanks to the 2 cutting options, and all of the cuts I’ve made with them so far have been absolutely effortless. They are lightweight in the handles, making them easy to manoeuvre and use for long periods, but strong and heavy duty in the head to mean they should stand up to years of use. I’m pleased with my purchase and would recommend these to anyone in need of a decent set of loppers.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersI previously had an anvil loppers that was very similar in style to the “S & J Razorsharp Advance Heavy Duty Telescopic Ratchet Anvil Lopper” but from Aldi. This worked a treat for many years until the blade broke. I was almost set on getting the S&J loppers above as it would be a direct known good replacement but decided to take a chance on this one instead. One of the big draws for me was it indicated that it could cut up to 60 mm branches. and I’m pretty sure it did. I tried it out the day I got it. Its very sharp and cuts really cleanly and a branch that was about 60 mm or maybe even a bit more (didn’t think to take a picture).
Now it doesn’t have telescopic handles like my previous loppers but its handles are reasonably long which gives plenty of leverage. The ratchet mechanism is very smooth and the great advantage of it compared to my old one is that you don’t have to open the handles wide in order to get it to ratchet to the next setting. Great when you’re literally in the thick of it. The other thing that I found good was being able to switch it to non ratchet mode, basically it allows you to cut small branch with just a regular cutting motion. My old one just did ratchet mode and cutting small stuff and having to ratchet the cutter repeatedly to get down to it was a pain – in fact I usually switched to using a seceteurs but that could be a strain.
Anyway I’m really impressed with this loppers and its also my first time purchasing something made by Davaon. I have to say this looks well built and I think will last the test of time.

The item was received in good time but an issue developed with one of the telescopic arms, which got stuck. I contacted the seller and we exchanged ideas in terms of resolving it but in the meantime, a replacement product was sent! Now that’s customer service! The new ones work fine and do what they should so the original probably had a slight flaw. Anyway, great product and seller.

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersI’ve had these about a week now, and I have to say they’ve been excellent. I had some old “bypass” loppers that would always get stuck with anything more than half an inch, and I’d end up struggling to cut through and even free the looppers

It’s early days but these have gone through everything I’ve thrown at them. In my experience, if the branch can get fully within the jaws, then these will cut through it. Mostly a single chop is enough but if not, then several repeated items and closes off the handles sees them chomp through.

I like the mechanism for extending the handles. You twist the end, extend or shrink the arms, and then twist back to lock. Much better than my old loppers where I had to turn the whole lower handle and it would often jam because it was the same place where you exerted effort.

Weight wise, yes they are relatively heavy. Continued use would be tiring on the arms especially if holding them elevated. The plus side is that they seem sturdy and they do the job quickly and efficiently so hopefully not having to use them for extended periods at a time. I’m six foot, male but don’t work out and don’t have huge biceps muscles but I’m still reasonably strong, so I can see that some would find them quite tiring, but on the other hand they do a lot of the work for you.

I did find them quite a joy to use especially given how poorly performing my old loppers were. I found myself walking round the garden chopping anything I could find to test them out, and I was not once disappointed with their performance.

I would say that the stated capability re thickness of branches they can lop is about right, and certainly not exaggerated. In fact I have been amazed at what they will cut.. Things that previously I had needed a treesaw for.

So in summary they appear robust. They’ve worked well on everything I’ve tried. I would say they might not loop cleanly if the branch isn’t fully between the jaws (ie if its only in the outer part of the jaws), but I think the greatest pressure would be excreted by the inner part of the jar so not surprising. Overall I’m very pleased. Wish I’d bought these ages ago.

It turned up very quickly and when I used it it felt solid. Just minimal movement in the handle but then they are telescopic so this is expected. When cutting they really felt good quality as made light work of thicker branches.

Only two days into using it, but I’m impressed. I haven’t used the extension arms yet, so can’t vouch for those and my arms are aching, but the ratchet is working really well and it’s cutting quite big branches with relative ease. So far so good.

Golden Review Award: 46 From Our UsersI received mine today and managed to get a job done that i had been putting off for a while. After unpacking the loppers from the excessive packaging i found the loppers, and on first sight they look quite well made, i then tried to remove the label card fastening the handles together that is held with 4 zip ties which are that tight it makes it hard work to remove it before you can use the loppers. The loppers are sharp, easy to use and do extend to a useful length and the ratchet system works well so far. Firstly i have to say I tested it on 1/2″- 1 1/2″ branches, the smaller ones it went through with ease, thicker ones is where the ratchet system comes into action, and give them their due they cut with relative ease, although a fair bit more force is required, the thicker the branches get, but they did the job. OK thats the good points, now for the bad. To extend the arms you have to twist the ends of the handles which only go one way so look at the arrow for direction, they are also are quite hard to turn, I extended the handles to the max position and tried all thicknesses again, the thin branches are no problem, but cutting thicker than 1″ to the max of 1.77″ (45mm max guaranteed cutting thickness) with the handles extended is where the problem starts. It is going to cut it, but you will end up with bending the handles so care is needed and proper use of the ratchet system is a must, but the handles are not really up to the job and i would suggest not exceeding a 1″ thickness if extended . Also after using for half an hour or so, they do get very end heavy when used fully extended. In conclusion, they are reasonably good loppers and will probably last and give good service. In my opinion these loppers should not be made using aluminium handle extensions and I think they need to do a re design on them, otherwise they are sharp and work well, time will tell, and as always, I will update my review as and when i have more to add.
    Just an update
As I expected, the alloy handles can’t take the pace and they have bent cutting a 1″ branch, straightened them but I would suggest you purchase ones with steel handles, I’ve revamped my old ones and am using them now.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI purchased these to help control a stubborn and much-overgrown back garden tree that had been difficult to cut through. I can honestly say these far exceeded my expectations. They are long enough to extend to the highest reaches but light enough to make doing so a comfortable experience. The blades just cut through even the thickest parts of the branches and what in the past had taken a long time with previous cutters was accomplished in no time at all. Highly recommended.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersSo far its been really good, very long extendable, as I required and cuts really good as well. I’ve used it to cut some big branches from apple and plum tree, some of them very high(hence the need for something extendable) and cuts through like butter. Very happy with the produc

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersBought these to assist with removing a Pyracantha (the most evil garden shrub I’ve ever had the misfortune to be in possession of). Overkill perhaps, but their length meant that I didn’t need to be anywhere near those dreadful spikes. This dealt with the job brilliantly, chopping up entangled stems and branches to a manageable bagging up size. The ratchet jaws are powerful… once you get used to clicking them back one stage to have another go should you only get part way through a cutting. They helped make short work of the task at hand. All in all, very happy with them.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our Userswe cut down 7 medium size trees with these. The extension handles are flimsy and not using the extension handles they are very heavy loppers but the ratchet was very useful. They cut through very thick branches about as thick as my arm just below the elbow so great item but you need a lot of strength and determination to use them on a project like ours was, at one point thighs were used instead of hands to get the strength.

Having been let down by several people who promised to come and do some garden work I decided to take matters into my own hands and bought the Davaon Pro Ratchet Telescopic Anvil Loppers. Wow how glad I am – amazing tool. Light in weight, adjustable handles, amazing cutting. So glad I bought it, would recommend it. Made light work of pruning a magnolia tree and a chestnut tree that had both gone a bit wild and big. Great tool – so pleased with it, it has a home in the house !!! to good to live in the garage haha

Golden Review Award: 26 From Our UsersI didn’t know this make and was unsure how it would compare to the well known makes I have used before, but the reviews were good so I thought I’d give these loppers a try.
My first thought was how light they are compared to my old loppers. On the one hand this is good as I’m not as strong as I was when I was younger, but on the other hand, would they bend easily? My next thought was that the head was a fair bit smaller than my old loppers. How would this affect their cutting ability?
I am pleased to say I am delighted with the purchase. I used my new loppers yesterday and they sliced through quite thick branches (slightly over 1.5″) with ease. The blade must be really sharp! I had to apply hardly any pressure to do the work, so I am less worried now about the handles becoming bent if too much is applied.
The mechanism for extending the handles feels secure, and the loppers are still comfortable to use in the extended position. Previously my arms would become tired after a few branches, so that is a bonus when I’m cutting old wood out of the centre of a shrub or small tree, and the smaller head means I can get into tighter places.
So on the basis of what I’ve seen so far I give them 5*. Time will tell how long they remain so efficient and how easy they are to sharpen, but at the moment I am delighted.

Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersI bought these loppers on the strength of the positive reviews I had read and I was not disappointed. On first use they easily cut through some really rather thick branches of shrubs and they’ve made pruning a much easier task as a result! They’re not too heavy, comfortable to use and very efficient. Would definitely recommend!

Golden Review Award: 25 From Our UsersStunning bit of kit. Without being heavy they are robust enough to wade through most upper branches of bushes and trees with very little effort. The blade is incredibly sharp and remains so after really heavy pruning sessions. The handles extend easily and lock into position with a twist and can be tightened easily should they work loose. Bear in mind that the full extended length is just short of a metre so add that to your height to get the idea of how high you will be able to reach without a ladder.
Personally, I would like a 3 metre version of these with a ratchet system at the sharp end.

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersGreat for the price, work as described. Been using regularly for gardening jobs (for clients) & have cut back various shrubs and small to medium branches on trees; seem to handle well so far with a good ‘bite’, making the work fairly painless. Lighter than my previous pair which is part of the reason I ordered them, so good for higher branches where lots of cutting involved. Pleased to say that they lock properly too, which has been an issue with other loppers where handles would suddenly unlock & slide up. (There is a very slight wobble in the telescopic handles when unlocked, but this doesn’t affect performance once locked.) Overall 5 stars as do the job with no bother & are good value.

Golden Review Award: 59 From Our UsersI read a lot of reviews before deciding on purchasing these loppers from Davaon and I have certainly not been disappointed . I’m female, aged 82, with little strength in my arms and have manage to cut down the towering hedge round my gate without using a stepladder. I am amazed at how easily it slices through the thickest branches. Once the blackbirds have departed from my back fence I am going to start on that and I am gleeful at the money I shall save as I did think I’d have to get a man in to do it. Incidentally I am also impressed by the emails from Davaon offering help if required.

Golden Review Award: 106 From Our UsersI bought this after reading other reviews as I needed a telescopic cutter for my large garden hedge. Product arrived promptly and was well packaged. The seller (via amazon) sent an email thanking me for the sale and offering hints and tips for use which was well received. Product looks very well made and good build quality. Light to use and very easy to extend handles with simple locks as base of handle. Cutting blade very sharp so went through all the branches my hedge cutter could not handle with ease. Highly recommended.
