Best one I've had up to date
I’ve always rented Rug Dr’s but also owned a few other brands that just weren’t good enough. I came across this and thought why rent when I can have my own. It arrived today and it was so easy to assemble, it literally came out, tank got filled and off I went. I was doing really well and the carpet was starting to come up like new, then the wife came home and took over and will now not let me use it because she likes it that much. Of the time I had with it I found it great, easy to use and very good value for money. I think the tanks could do with some upgrades ie, allow them to fill up more as you have to change both tanks after about 5 runs. I’d definitely recommend it if you’re shopping for a carpet/upholstery cleaner though.

This is my 2nd machine,only brought a new one as the handle gave way after 10yrs on my 1st and I can honestly say it’s the best around! Is it heavy? Yes but does it deliver? Yes! Best price I found on here too as with everything else prices are going up,so if if you can get get it 300 or under I suggest you buy it!

Very effective for cleaning rugs and sofas, and upholstered chairs.
Be prepared to be surprised at how much dirt it removes and the colour of the dirty water!
An additional attachment for narrow areas/stair carpets would be a nice option.
You might need to use the hand attachment to do the carpet edges.

1.Delivery service hermes get my product for days and told amazon that i wasnt in when i am disabled and can see who comes in and out of my property.
2. Instructions book not easy to understand please make the instructions easy for people who are dyslexic.

I had already brought the rug doctor spot cleaner, which is amazing. I decided to upgrade to this. I’m so glad i did. It’s great value for money and an amazing carpet cleaner.
Strong suctio
RugDoctors are great. Very strong suction, good cleaning ability, only need 60ml of cleaning fluid per tank (can be measured using the screw cap). Can’t fault it at all.
Note: The hose for the tool can be difficult to fit the first time.
Noticed the machine I received had 3 different tapes on it and sports a HEAVY!!! sticker . It hasn’t been used and is definitely still new, but found this amusing.
Carpet looks like new (almost)
I read the reviews online before buying, and thought that they were over the top in their praise. They’re not! Stains that had been in my carpets for an embarrassing length of time disappeared. We are planning to sell our house this year, and feel that we now no longer need to replace some of the carpets. The one thing that it doesn’t do, and I didn’t expect it to, is to restore the pile on carpets that are several years old.
Although it quite heavy, it is reasonably easy to use. Here’s a tip, though. Don’t try to push it backwards and forwards as you would a vacuum cleaner. You pull it slowly towards you. I was too impatient to read the instructions fully before using the first time.

Works really well and certainly got my carpets clean. I wish the tank was a bit bigger because I have to fill it up again half way through my quite large room but that’s not really a problem as long as it does the job. I also wish he handle tilted back a bit further as then it would be a bit easier to use.

I’ve been renting a Rug Doctor every year for about the last 10 years. My wife has always been really happy with how the carpets turn out when they’re cleaned. This year, when I tried to rent one, it wouldn’t let me proceed, unless I bought the detergent (minimum 11). I’d bought a large bottle last year, so still had a lot left. I looked around, and was surprised to see them being sold on Amazon.
This way, I get a new machine, that I can use whenever I want.
What really delighted me was the design. Compared to how it used to operate, the new design is superb; it’s very easy to use. Even the hose attachment has been improved.
When the dirty water tank is full (it’s made of polycarbonate, so is clear, and you can easily see the water anyway), the pitch of the motor changes, so you know to empty it. The detergent tank is very easy to fill, and had a measuring cup incorporated in the screw-on lid. It slots into the machine really easily.
I was able to clean all of the carpets I normally clean, and now have the delightful job of doing the same for my daughter, while she’s away (did I say this was a god idea??)…
Seriously, though, I’m very impressed with the design and the cleaning results

I looked at many reviews on this and decided that on the whole they were positive. I’m really pleased I bought it and have certainly found it effective at general cleaning of carpets and rugs. The colours in the rugs are definitely brighter now. Not bad value for money and easy to use. Very happy

Pleased with my rug doctor, comes all marked up so i know what everything is and does, i need it with my brain fog. Its easy to push front and backwards. Little drops leak but ive hired big industrial ones that leak alot worst so on the whole im pleased with my purchase.

Carpet washer is excellent. Used it once so far. Did an excellent job, sucks up the dirty water and gets the dirt out of the carpet. Is easy enough to use. It is a well made product, good quality. The machine also has attachments for stairs and upholstery cleaning. It’s 5 star all the way. Don’t listen to anyone who says otherwise. Go with the majority opinion!

Does a good job despite certain drawbacks
Works really well. Fitting the ending tool was cumbersome but soon got used to it. Continually having to fill the clean water was tedious because it doesn’t hold a “large” amount of water. Overall quite pleased with the result. Shampoo price hike during pandemic rather annoying!

Fantastic cleaning with ease
Came very quickly amazing product so easy to use and keeps my carpets very clean I have two elderly dogs who have accidents and until I purchased this it was a constant battle now within minutes my carpets are so fresh
I’d seen the ads and taken them with a pinch of salt, but I was both surprised and delighted to find that it is as good as it says! Even long stained carpets have become sparklingly clean with just one or two cleans with this machine. I also purchased the heavy foot traffic spray as using that first on more stained areas helps lift the stains easier. I am so happy to own one of these and it has already proved way cheaper than a professional clean and I think it does as good a job. Watching the online video on the Rug Doctor website helps before you start using it for the first time.

Amazing, brilliant and outstanding machine, we have had vax, bissell and other machines in the past. But this beats them hands down. And the attachments are first class.WELL HAPPY. dont waste your time looking around just get it. Great rep overall. And carpets was totally dry after an hour or so. And the detergent it pretty good too. Please read the manual because we didn’t realise that the handle could be tilted right down soto make it easier to use DAH!

Definitely with paying a little extra for, previously owned a vax, before it broke down, then tried a Bissell but and the Rug Doctor is far, far better!

Absolutely fantastic carpet cleane
Wow what a machine, if your looking for a great deep carpet cleaner, look no further I have always hired the Rug Doctor professional but decided to buy this one, I have very heavy traffic with kids, dogs etc.
However I would say this home version is more powerful than the professional one and because of the rotating brush bar at the front as well as the agitator brush in the middle really gets deep down into the carpet pile.
My carpet is a Wilton and been down for twenty years and now looks nearly new
The only thing that lets this down a little is the size of the tanks, for a big carpet like mine 13ft x 10ft means a lot of trips to empty and refill, but well worth the results.
The tool storage for the upholstery attachment is not the best imo and could of been better thought out as sometimes if you knock it, it ends up popping out and unraveling however you can remove it and store it somewhere else.

Wished I'd had one years ago
The best carpet cleaner I’ve ever had. Dead easy to fill and empty. Obviously no carpet cleaner will ever leave a carpet dry but this is pretty damned good. It cleans amazingly even on filthy carpets.
This beast is just what my carpets needed to cope with my other beast (a German pointer with a penchant for dragging half the outside inside with him). Photos taken after first couple of runs over half the bit of carpet I had started with. Pics say it all!

OMG, so addictive!
When in biught this in wondered whether I’d use it enough to justify the cost. However I have found I ended up using it most weeks on something or other! Cleans carpets really well and I use the upholster attachment on the sofa and mattresses. It’s so addictive seeing the dirty water coming out!! I had previously hired one, which left a hideous smell as the carpet started to dry – bacteria from not cleaning it properly according to Google! This one cleaned the carpets just as well as the hired one without the after smell.
For those saying it’s hard to manoeuvre I can’t see why. It’s light, although only works pulling it backwards (you can’t push it like a vacuum cleaner). However there instructions clearly explain this. The handle folds flat for storage too – nice and compact.
Only downside is mine stopped working s couple of months after the 2 year warranty expired. Rug doctor charge 25 to courier it to them and 25 per hour with no indication of what might be won’t or how long it will take to fix it! I really do love this machine though and feel lost without it.

Oh my goodness, The rug doctor is amazing. I have used it to clean all the carpets in the house and mostly they have come up like new. The carpets are 10 years old. Although it seemed expensive to buy at the time I know it is worth every penny.

Great to spruce up carpet you will be shocked at the water and I don’t wear shoes in the home but have an 8 month Frenchie. Keeping it in the shed and plan to do it once every 6 months. Great product and I know it’s only been used in my home rather than renting one from a supermarket.

This is a really good machine. I have hired rug doctor carpet cleaners before and decided that I was as well buying one rather than paying to hire each time. This machine is easy to set up and use – lighter in weight than those you hire and easy to manoeuvre. The water tank holds a reasonable amount and only needed to be refilled twice to do my living room. Whole house has been done and I was really pleased with the results. Having my own machine means I can do a room at a time rather than hiring for a day and having to do everything at once. Well worth the money.

Does a really good job. Please be aware you can only push it forward by lifting the front upwards and rolling it on its wheels, it’s very light, the shampooing happens when you pull it back, I have not had this before with a carpet cleaner. My only complaint is delivery was by DPD who are absolutely impossible to communicate with and delivered it 4 days late. There was a note on the tracking saying customer requested rescheduled delivery. Yeah right.
With 8 dogs all living in the house, although mainly wood floors downstairs, we have large rugs, and carpet upstairs, I clean my carpets and rugs on average twice a month, sometimes more.
I have been through almost every manufacturer and type of cleaner and this one is the best by far. It uses a lot of detergent and water and you have to replace fresh solution regularly, twice on my large lounge rug – but, the carpet is almost dry, so what it is putting in, it is also fetching out again. I am never ceased to be amazed at how dirty the water is even when the carpets look ok. My upstairs carpets have not looked so good for years, even though they have been regularly cleaned.
Reason for 4 stars is it is very heavy and bulky to carry up and downstairs, but I would buy again, and recommend, due to the excellent performance it gives.

Excellent Machine
I found the Rug Doctor to be an excellent machine. It is a little heavy to maneuver but it really does a great job so it’s just a case of taking your time with it.
I bought this for a badly stained carpet, it worked very well and the carpet exceeded expectations. The only problem was plugging in the extra hand held device for stairs etc. It said in the instructions it may be hard at first but I couldn’t do and had to get my son in law to put it in. I suppose this may be because I have the start of arthritis in my hands but usually I can manage anything. I tried to work the cleaner leaving it in but it will not suck up the water from the main body of the cleaner if you leave the handheld tube in. Overall I’m very pleased with it.

We live in the countryside with a toddler, terrier and cream carpets so already had a bissel but I took a gamble on a bigger machine to make life easier and was not disappointed. This has surpassed all expectations and even made cream stripes in the dirt after one pass! The hose attachment is great for the stairs and reaches about half way. I cleaned the entire hall, landing, stairs and lounge all on delivery day with ease. It’s a big machine but I can carry it up and downstairs easily thanks to the folding handle. Only minor negative is that the tanks need emptying and refilling quite often but I will be reccomending this without hesitation!

Great carpet cleaner a little hard to clean the dirt out after use but the best I have used for carpets. If you spend this sort of money on a carpet cleaner you cannot beat this one I have had many other brands that haven’t worked half as good as this.
We bought this to clean our carpets in our holiday rental home in paignton. While it did leave the carpets and rugs spotless, there is one big problem, there is no way to take apart for cleaning. It doesn’t take long for the area under the main roller to get clogged up with dirt and hair. Frustrated with this problem I rang rug doctor who confirmed there was no way around this, his solution was to poke an old toothbrush behind the roller to get the excessive amount of hair out. He also told me they’ve had many calls about this problem but don’t seem to want to do anything about it. A good cleaner with just that one flaw

This is a great carpet cleaner. It does a good and thorough job. It is very easy to use with the big wheels allowing it to glide easily over the carpet (backwards, don’t forget!). The carpets will dry within an hour or two. It gives everything a very deep clean. It was particularly satisfying to use the upholstery tool on a mattress and see how effective it was. Even though the mattress had a pretty good soaking, it was still dry within a couple of hours. The machine is quite heavy, however, and the tanks are quite small which means that you will be refilling and emptying quite a lot, but this is a minor thing when you see how clean your carpets and upholstery become.

I have, up till now, hired a rug doctor, but I thought it would be a a good idea to invest in my own ( cats and children under 5, you know the situation!). I did my homework, and there are several brands to choose from, but this one looked like a good price from a known manufacturer. I was not disappointed! The machine is obviously less robust than a “commercial” one, but that helps, in that it’s lighter. The mechanism is similar to the professional one, and the results are at least as good as the ones I’ve hired. Really well pleased with the results, I can recommend this to anyone with carpets, kids and animals. It does the Biz!

This machine is brilliantly designed, easy to use & gives fantastic results.
What a revelation! Minging stained carpets looking brand new. I was planning to rip up a beige carpet that was very heavily stained. This cleaner totally amazed me at how brilliantly it cleaned the carpet. Used it on the stairs and now we have a rejuvenated carpet there too. I only wish the clean water dispenser was bigger to save time on refilling but that is just a minor niggle. Having two dogs always makes me fear the house stinks of wet dog which we all grow used to and only visitors to the home will get the full whammy nasal assault as they cross the threshold into stinky mutt manor. Now I can relax a bit! Buy it. You will not regret it.

Bought nearly 2 years ago best carpet cleaner ever,and I’ve had a few.last month front box cracked and fell off contacted customer support tel no provided on instruction booklet who sent a courier to pick it up replaced it so is as good as new, then delivered it back within a couple of weeks great product great customer service
Great quality, good performance, the carpets look fantastic, would highly recommend for any pet owners or someone looking for a machine that will pick any mess or general deep down dirt that other machines don’t do. Great for tall people, not ideal for small houses due to the large size of the machine, it is not very easy to use when cleaning stairs due to the upholstery tool been too short, you can only clean max of 6 steps.
Very quick review. In the past I have had both Vax and Bissell. This so far has exceeded all my expectations.
It is very well built but is a largely all plastic affair.
The tanks are easy to access, fill and refit the benefit of which cant be understated.
I used warm water and the supplied sample of fluid. The results were superb. This one you walk backwards and the brushes do their magic. For extra help you can set a secondary spray at the back to prespray the carpet. I found I dont need this.
The handle is nice and high so I’m not hunched over it.
This will eat water, the rate of which depends on how fast/slow you operate.
There is a handy upholstery/spot hose. Easy to fit and store.
In terms of storage I like the handle flips down to make the unit as compact as possible.
I didn’t like the measly bottle of fluid they included. For the price I thought there could have been more included. Registering the warranty was simple enough.
Overall very happy and its worth spending the extra to get a good quality machine as the proof is in the results.
This thing has changed my life. I have cream carpets, a toddler, and a Golden Retriever. The amount of dirt that the Cleaner sucked out on the maiden voyage was absolutely incredible! The Cleaner is easy to use, and it’s a quick process. Carpets are not over-saturated, so only take a few hours to dry. Everything comes up smelling gorgeous and the carpets look like new. My only note of caution is that the Cleaner is rather heavy, which isn’t an issue for me but it may be problematic for someone who is elderly or has back problems.
i have had Vax before and returned due to terrible aftermath of carpet fluff left to clear up and soggy carpets plus impossible parts to clean out.
This machine is simple, straightforward and leaves no mess behind and carpets are dry in half a day.

Separate hand tool for cleaning spot spills – very good – I used this prior to cleaning whole carpet which worked better to get rid of stubborn Stains. I have also cleaned one room which had cigarette smoke odour lingering despite repainting of the walls, seems to have made an improvement in terms of the odour.
It’s handle folds down for storage and really nothing more to say other than I have researched for ages and this is the best machine out there easily in this price range.

amazing machine, my carpets are like new & almost dry after cleaning
Having already used the larger hire versions, we decided to buy this home version. Found it comfortable to use and we were able to spread the cleaning over a longer period which made the moving of furniture easier. Cleaned the carpet as well as the larger version and left it drier. A good purchase, especially as it came with accessories and was on offer with 60 off.
Brilliant! Does what it says and very easy to use. Easy to assemble and carpet dries up very quickly. Worth the money!

As I work in the nightclub industry you can imagin the carpets get rather messy this machine works great cleans them up good and leaves them nearly dry and the machine itself is easy to clean and to store all the parts fit to it I highly recommend it with a good quality cleaner you can’t lose
Most people will recognise the name of Rug Doctor – you can hire their machines from hundreds of locations in the UK for a quick carpet clean. Given a very badly stained and soiled cream carpet after a member of the family had a nasty “accident”, we considered doing this, but read of the possibility of renting a machine that has seen better days, that has just cleaned a load of nasties from someone’s carpet that you don’t know, or that hasn’t been properly maintained or cleaned after each use. It seems that all these events are out of the customer’s control and that they do happen – reading rental machine reviews they happen quite a lot (although the fact that the experience was not good may actually have prompted the writing of the review).
We decided to use Rug Doctor, but to buy the machine so that we had it for future use, could share with our family, and know that the machine was clean prior to each use. The domestic Rug Doctor isn’t cheap – but it worked out at around the same price as replacement of the carpet that we were trying to save. And we found it to be very effective – we would guess that it is no less effective than the full professional machine judging by results.
The machine arrives ready for use – no assembly is required. Dead easy to use – water and shampoo in and suction out in one pass. The difference between this and our previous (much smaller) carpet cleaning machine was the amount of agitation between “in and out” – high speed moving brushes – the prewash facility, and the amount of suction “out” which results in a much dryer carpet. It does literally lift stains out – and the colour of the water which ends up in the waste tank (which you then lift up and pour down the toilet) is testament to the amount of dirt removed.
Cleaning chemicals are also reasonably priced and can be easily bought locally – each of those hundreds of rental outlets sell them for the same price as online. We found the Urine Eliminator spray to be particularly effective – it lifts stains and kills odours (it can be used as a pre or post treatment – or simply on its own with a damp cloth).
This machine works really well and the cleaning is extremely effective. If you have a Dyson Vacuum you may remember the Dyson effect the first time that you used it? This is similar. It saved our damaged carpet – but on an otherwise clean carpet it pulled out so much dirt the waste water was also a filthy grey colour when it had finished. Very impressive. The carpet was also noticeably bouncier underfoot as well.
The machine also has a handheld attachment for spot spills or small areas – plugs into the front of the machine and offers full cleaning or just moisture extraction. Haven’t yet tried that but very useful to know that it’s there.
I realise that I am waxing perhaps a little too lyrical on this one! But we were genuinely so very impressed. The machine solved a bad problem for us (and I can supply “before” and “after” pictures if anyone’s interested – the “before” were taken in anticipation of a possible insurance claim) and compared to the replacement cost of the carpet we regard it as having cost us nothing. By comparison with nearby carpets – we had the same stuff put down throughout our house 8 years ago – that which has been cleaned now looks, and feels, better than that which escaped damage. But buy new, and have your own machine, rather than rent used and have someone else’s.
Unlike our trusty and well used VAX W90-RU-B Rapide Ultra – that is designed specifically for the home consumer market, the design of this Rug Doctor Deep Cleaner is based on their similar cleaners used professionally and available for hire at many “High Street” DIY Retailers.
As such it is of very robust construction, quite sizeable but conversely easy to use, and very manoeuvrable.
The enhanced manoeuvrability when compared to the VAX is aided by the deployment of the two large wheels and the fully adjustable handle.
Whereas Vax cleaners rely on a ‘push – pull’ action this machine is deployed mainly using a ‘pull’ action – which i find more convenient.
In use, both the clean water and dirty water containers are easily lifted from the body of the machine.
The machine is fitted with a very long (5M) heavy duty lead, that during storage is accommodated on two lugs.
Separate hand tools are included and can be accommodated on the machine by means of the built-in ‘caddy’.
Performance wise compared with our VAX – i doubt there is much between them – but the ‘SuperBoost -Spray’ combined with the ‘dual-action’ brushes on the Rug Doctor would probably be an advantage on heavily soiled carpets.
But be aware, there is a considerable price difference for this perceived increase in performance.
othing complicated about this water and detergent in one dirty water in the other. the Dirty water take takes two clean water. also has an optional spray at the back if your carpet is really dirty. build quality is great. suction is fab. leaves carpet clean and fresh. Comes with a hand tool with long hose which is also great for fabric furniture and inside car. Recommended
This very large Rug Doctor Deep Carpet cleaner is one of the best i have ever used. Its easy to use, the instruction book isnt all double Dutch like some you get either. I managed to work it all out myself. Now i dont have carpets but i do have Very Ver large rugs in the 2 hallways, the dining room, and the lounge. One rug is used over and over and over as a pee pad. No matter what i do to clean it i just cant shift the stain or the smell. This morning i decided to give this cleaner a try. OMG!!!!!!!! Its amazing. The rug has colours that i forgot it had. Its vintage……….. It was gentle enough to protect it, but poweful enough to remove the stains and the smells.
My mother in law wants me to clean her cream carpets. This ;little darling will be getting a lot of usage. I shall report back.
