Had some issues with the 2nd camera I purchased.
Seller responded very quickly with help, and eventually sent me a replacement camera.
Camera is very good, with excellent picture quality.
    Highly recommended.

Good enough for the price. Have a nice view day time and not bad night time.
    Motion detection reacts.
Solar panel is charging the battery even when it is cloudy.

So far so good. It went up easily. Just needed a few holes drilled into the wall and screwed in. It’s working really well and so far the solar panel has kept it charged. I’ll update this review if it stops working. The camera is small so goes un noticed.

This is an easily fitted camera. It has a wide angle of view. Images are sharp. Solar panel is charging the battery. CloudEdge app works well. About a 2nd delay in getting alerts. Would buy again.

I had bought these to cover different areas of my new property. Battery life is okay, depends how often the motion sensor is activated. I have linked one camera to a solar panel and that’s been working well. Cameras are easy enough to set up and install I had to replace one and customer service was very helpful.

Solar panel is enough to keep the camera charged but motion detection lags a bit. The lack of a free short term cloud storage is a disadvantage compared with other products. The inability with Cloudedge to download images from the SD card locally is also a great disadvantage and necessitates climbing a ladder to dump the images.

The initial camera was working well and battery lasted for many months. There was a problem charging the camera and I tried to get it sorted though Amazon. But Amazon will only give you a partial refund. Which was unbelievably difficult to do. Without any prompting the manufacturer contacted me and offered a fully refund or replacement! I have gone for a replacement as my other cameras (same model) have no problems and offer good images, useful app and robust construction. The service in getting a new camera was quick and easy and i was up and running within 48 hours. Overall a good after sale service, so can’t complain.

Would highly recommend this camera. I bought one to cover my driveway and it works just fine. No wires to mess around with and when the battery gets below 20% you instantly get a notification. Night mode, motion detections great. Very modern and the camera size is perfect! Not to big and not to small. I currently get 1 month use out of the camera on its highest setting with 30 second recording.

Will be buying another two camera’s for the garden!

I’ve had this unit for almost a year and it has worked flawlessly. I have never seen the battery get below 80%. I love that it will alert me of motion and take a decent picture. My unit is mounted in a tree roughly 58 ft. away from my Wi-Fi router and about 15ft high. The Wi-Fi meter in the app on my phone has never shown below 70% signal. I would definitely by this one again in the future.

Takes a good picture, the solar worked without issue and set up went according to instructions. The Cloud does not provide a 24 hour 7 day history that can be viewed to anytime of day for the past 7 days. The option detection does not record for the entire time of motion but only a predetermined number of seconds and then time lags before recording motion again. This is why I want the 25/ 7 Cloud coverage. The camera replaced a different brand that started having wifi connection issues but had 24/ 7 Cloud recording coverage.

Easy set up with no wires to worry about. Decent day time photos night not as clear. Have to get pointing correctly or picks up cars/foot traffic on road. Bought two (front & back) just re charged front one as motion detection had drained battery quicker – turned off at back as cat in/out lots. Sometimes doesn’t pick up people coming but overall ok for price

I use this product mounted (easy to do) on a south facing cabin office in the garden. The initial setup with SD card etc was a minor complication but the online support was both fast and informative and we quickly solved the issue.
Camera has been running for 2 months now with no problems even with temperatures at -5’C. The connection between the camera and panel is a simple USB so care needs to be taken that it is connected properly. Recommend testing before you mount in a difficult to reach position.
Motion sensor is great and works day or night and integration into the app software is simple as i already had a non-solar panel camera compatible. Camera is mounted approximately 30ft away from the wifi router on an outdoor cabin and there is no issue with signal (at present!).
Only downside is, as others have commented on, it does seem to be a lightening rod for spiders and their cobwebs!! But i dont think this is the manufacturers issue..lol.

OVerall, a great solar panelled camera with excellent support services. Well recommend.

I bought this to use in a holiday let which has a north facing balcony. I set it up at home first to test it and glad I did. It definitely needs lots of direct sunlight to keep charged. Forget just daylight, the battery dropped to 45% within a week even with sensitivity turned down and alerts switched off. However once back in the sun it charged to 60% in just a few hours. Good quality picture, especially at night.

The app is not that great but sufficient. I prefer my other camera that uses CamHipro app, much more intuitive.

You can’t go wrong with this camera.Once the battery is charged it’s easy to set up and get working,This is my 3rd camera and also got 2 of my neighbours to purchase one as they are that good.
There are different settings for where you locate the camera. The picture is clear and the motion detector is great as we had an intruder looking at the cars on the drive and these cameras picked the issue up straight away so we could deter the potential thief. Not tried the solar panel version yet but that might be my next purchase.

I started with one of these excellent cameras and now have three. Easy setup and appears long lasting battery between charges. Does the job fuss free. Give a good charge as instructed first. The charger is just a standard mobile phone charger and mine cost less than 5 for a quality original one, which I add I also use on my phone. Can be charged in situ , depending where camera is located or there are Solar charge panels available. Piece of mind for a good price. All notification’s can easily be seen on your phone.

I was looking for a rechargeable outdoor camera with night vision and mobile app connectivity, this camera certainly ticked those boxes.

I found the camera very easy to setup with clear instructions. It took me a couple of minutes. The first thing you should do once it’s fully charged is to adjust the motion detection features, since you get a notification each time a movement is detected. You can select the time of the day and sensitivity for motion detection.

The picture quality at night is quite good.

Overall, very happy with the product.

    1. Very good night vision – I had others cameras and this is the best one
    2. Solar panel is charging very fast :), 1 hr of sun gives about 5 to 7% extra. If possible do not let it charge all the time as you will reduce battery life. Let it charge only when is low.
    3. Motion detection is perfect.

At the very beginning, I was happy with this product. Later on, I find that so many false alarms come out. Recently, it frequently lost wifi connection so I have reboot the camera to get the connection mannually, which is a pain. Note: it is installed just 3 meters away from my router.

The camera has good night vision and quality imagery. But be careful where you set it up because it can be stolen really easy.
The manufacturer needs to come up with ideas to lock the camera not just unscrew it.

Only had the camera for a week but so fair very impressed, great quality picture night and day.battery power is very good and is down to 57. % after 4 days but this will depend on how often you view the images and how often the motion detection triggers.
My only issue so fair is now and again the camera fails to connect.

Picture quality is OK and the battery lasts well, but the software is not good (*see below*). Before buying this, be sure to read the small print above: “Only works with CloudEdge, other apps not supported, You can only watch videos in the app, they cannot be exported to a third party device.”
I wish I had read the reviews of CloudEdge on the app store before wasting my money.

EDIT (2021-12-17): I have been contacted by Cooau to point out that it is possible to get the video off the card without using CloudEdge. Their instructions are “Download the “meari_mp4_convert” program, connect to the computer through a TF card reader, and use “meari_mp4_convert” to export the video files inside.”
I still think CloudEdge is ghastly but it is usable. Obviously you would not want to have to remove the card every time you want to export the video, but hey-ho, it can be done.
Disclosure: Cooau offered me a partial refund of the purchase price; the refund was not conditional on me changing my review.
BTW, I use the camera for spotting wildlife in the garden — hedgehogs, mice and next-door’s cat.

EDIT 2022-02-03 — the camera has now died, after only a few months use. But I am leaving the rating as 4* because of the excellent customer service. They respond very quickly to emails and have tried to help. After the camera died completely they gave a full refund.

The picture quality day and night is very good. After a few months it stopped working. Apparently the battery died. I went through the instructions on how to “wake it up”. Got it going again. I left it plugged in to a charger cable for more than a day before it was fully charged. I may have installed it to quickly and didn’t give it time for the initial charge. Now the battery shows very little drop off so the solar panel is keeping up. I recommend it.

The camera is very well designed and solid. The materials used are of quality and I liked the look of the camera. I found it very easy to set up and the cloud edge app is straightforward. It records still images to the app with the date and time that can be stored on a cloud service. When motion is activated the camera sends an alert to your phone and video clips can also be recorded and stored on an SD card which can be inserted into the device. The video clips are very small in size and the camera works with a 128 SD which enables you to store a lot of clips on there without the card filling up. I found the quality of the images excellent. That also applies for when the camera records at night the night vision is really clear. The battery life is amazing it lasts for longer than any other battery power camera I have used and the solar panel helps to keep it topped up if you place it outside where there is sunlight. Another thing the customer support I was surprised how good they were at resolving any issues. They are very quick to respond and do their very best to sort any issues out without any fuss. I was pleasantly surprised how good they are. I would recommend this camera as it will record for a long while without any hassle and if anything does go wrong the customer support will sort it out.

Very impressed with this camera. It is very easy to install & has a great image once setup on phone, both during daytime & at night via Infra-Red.
The motion detection is very impressive also – giving me a notification of any movement outside, which is great for security.
The new extended battery life is also a strong benefit — combined with the solar panel — gives complete peace of mind that the camera will always be charged.
I have purchased other cameras in the past, but this is by far the best outdoor wireless camera, I will certainly be buying more of these & highly recommend them as part of a security system for property either residential or business, to give peace of mind

Great Outdoor Wireless Security Camera with Infra Red Vision.

Great camera. I’ve got a couple of these and the door bell camera from the same brand. They all work well within the app (cloud edge) and can switch between them easily. They all have superb camera quality and good night visibility. For the front house camera and door bell cam I keep the human detection on, but take it off on the rear garden camera which is then great for detecting wildlife too. Looking forward to trying the solar panel out the front as it gets the most sun!

Over all these cameras are great if you don’t want the hassle of hard wiring in a security system and will only have to charge them every few months, depending on use etc!

    Excellent wireless camera

If you are after this as night security well it works brilliantly. I’ve been testing this out in the back garden. So impressed. Video quality is excellent. In the dark it spots me behind the kids trampoline (as I stand up!) even before you would be visible by the eye (I even did this twice as I couldn’t believe it!). I’m well impressed. Also picked up my 4 year old no problem (but Amazon will only let me upload 1 video!). Solar panel connects up easily to the charging port. I wasn’t expecting much from the solar panel as all we have now is grey cloud cloud cloud, however when I checked later on in the day the battery level had gone up by a couple of percent (and really all you want is for it to keep the battery topped up so you don’t have to take it down to charge so it looks like that will do the job and mean I never have to charge. Fab!). I do own a Cooau cam on the front also, you can see how this newer version has evolved. With the older cam you can only set it to high or low sensitivity even with the most up to date firmware (I’m going to contact Cooau and see if there is anything that can be done with that) whereas the new one has 10 sensitivity levels. I set it on 10 and we do have cats going through the garden and it’s not been triggered by anything but human movement which is a bonus. You can also set intervals between it being triggered. I’m really pleased with it. Recommending this to my father . Also if Cooau could develop something to stop spiders making webs over my cameras it would be appreciated! Update. I found the first one to be so good I bought a second. The one in the back garden which is south facing literally has never needed charging so far the solar panel works so well , I was really surprised as it’s winter and there’s little sun. Having said that the other one which is not south facing seems to struggle and has needed charging, maybe in summer that one will be fine? Anyway really pleased and very happy with cooau products. I have 2 cameras, bought one for my father and also a cooau doorbell cam. Really are brilliant.

    Superb night vision.

Everything you need is in the box. The instructions are clear and the Cloudedge App works very well. Very quick to set up, fix up the bracket, download the App, scan the QR code on the camera and everything just works. The camera provides a very wide angle and picture is sharp and clear. The camera has a night vision option that can be set to switch on automatically. The recordings are clear in both day and night settings. The Cloudedge App sends notifications to your phone in a timely manner. In my opinion this product is good value.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWhat an amazing small and cable worries free camera. This camera has great quality video as you can see from the picture this is over the internet recorded obviously on the sd there is true 1080p.
It comes with all the bells and whistels in the box. The minute you power up the camera you just open the app click on add camera and you are presented with a barcode which you point to the camera and connects thats all worry free easy even for non tech savvy people.
When it first open you then have to upgrade which for me its really good because it shows that there is work done to the camera and they constantly work to fix bugs and issues and improve the overall product. In the app they show you a precentage of the battery and the solar panel is small and discreet. In the app there are tone of setting you can adjust to meet your needs. Also there is a really powerful microphone and speak in the camera that lets you even hear the birds.

Super camera - Outdoor with no cable worries

I had this camera for 8 months now.
1: battery & solar still works like a champ
2: human detection lacks a bit. Every vehicle passing by gives an alert.
3: video quality is still crisp
4: camera does not recognize sd card anymore.
3: cloud storage doesnt have recordings for any days anymore.

Ive replaced the sd card twice and will work for a few days than it stops working. Is anyone else having the same issue and was there anything to fix it.

    8 month update!

I would have given this camera 5 stars, but sometimes it can miss certain events even if a person has walked right in front of the camera (this may have been down to my motion detection being on 1 at the time). The night vision is amazing, it has 4 infrared lights which will come on automatically if it is dark but if you’ve got a security light in the area the camera will stay in colour mode. Even with infrared the picture quality is very good, but obviously due to the MP of the camera things out of shot will be blurry for obvious reasons. The motion detection is very useful when it’s on a high number (between 1 and 10 or you can turn it off entirely), but when i had it on 10 it went off at the slightest movement which is very good but it can drain the battery in an emphatic fashion. I think having it on number 1 or 2 is enough, if you live in an area with very little foot traffic going past the camera so it doesn’t give you a false alarm. For me the battery lasted about a month i think or just over with motion detection being on number 3, but it will last even longer if motion detection is turned off and you just want to see what is going on outside through the camera. My first camera broke after a while when i changed the location, but the customer service was amazing and they gave me a new camera free of charge without the need to return my old one. The app is very good too, although it can make a phone quite hot and drain the battery a bit faster than usual if it keeps running in the background but that can be turned off. Overall the camera does what it’s made for, but if you don’t want to keep climbing a ladder all the time to charge it i would recommend a wired camera that plugs into the mains. If you don’t like wires around the place this is perfect, as it runs off 2.4 GHz wi-fi (not 5 GHz unfortunately) but the range is terrific on my cameras with the 2 antennas.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersBought two of these December 2020. Got them up and running easily and other than motion detection a bit flaky on very cold days last Winter, they worked satisfactory. first battery charge lasted almost 6 months on both. Second full charge, (14 hours) has lasted around 3 months. I put both on charge again yesterday, (13 hours) and the led light was showing blue so fully charged. Put the cameras up this morning, check them on the app and one has 3 bars of charge and the other has 4 bars out of 5. I can only assume the batteries are failing so not sure what to do? There is no contact info for Cooau so can’t ask for aftersales help other than go through the irritating Amazon BOT system which I find as much use as a lamb chop in a vegan store. So upshot is that I’m now concerned about how long these will last, the batteries are looking like they will become an issue very soon.
UPDATE: A representative (“Amanda”) from COOAU has contacted me in regards to the above, The rep has put the issue right. It’s good that sellers read and care about what is written and then act on them. I have to say the customer service shown here is great and would be happy to buy from the seller again off the back of such great understanding of my issue.

Full disclosure, the seller offers a small gift in return for an Amazon review, but I review most of the Amazon things that I buy and would have given the same grade regardless. The bottom line for function and picture quality it’s amazingly good! The tech has come a long way in the past few years. It can’t compare with the resolution seen on a big screen desktop monitor from my my wired POE security 4k cam system, but looking at the the feed from your phone screen it’s pretty incredible and the 2 way audio is actually better than my wired system- been surprisingly good too. I have mine set up to keep an eye on a turtle in a 125 gallon backyard pond which is about a 100′ from my google mesh router, only takes a second or two to connect; The default settings for daylight are excellent; have not tested the reach at night but in the 10-15′ range for my use, the PIR view for brightness-contrast and sharpness is super. I was already was a user of the cloud edge app for a door camera, so setting that up was a snap and easy sharing the feed with my wife’s phone too. For the first four days I didn’t install the solar panel let it run on battery and I don’t think I lost any bars. When I did install the solar panel it charged it in about 20 minutes to 100% and it’s been on full ever since. Not really a con but a bit wider view would have been nice. Maybe my next one will be a PTZ version. So far I’m very very happy – this has been a great buy, outside in the rain and Hawaiian sun for close to a month without a glitch.

Did a fair bit of research before pulling the plug on an exterior camera, and this one looked the best out there for the price.. And boy am I glad I did it is fantastic.. So easy to set up and installation was approx 25 minutes.. Do yourself a favour and get a 128GB SD card to save the cloud subscription.. I have just bought a second for the garden as at this price its a no brainer, Night vision is also incredibly good.

  50. RolandoConsiden says:

     United States

So I want to start off with and say my 5 star review is for the camera itself. The quality is great. The picture is amazing and the night vision Is even better. I have 1 camera about 60 ft from my house and at night the whole house is visible. The other camera is mounted on house and can see about 75 ft into the yard at night. And I live in the country where it is pitch black at night.. The motion detection is quick sometimes and slow other times. Only time will tell how it all plays out. I do not use the cloud service so I cannot contest to its operation but it works very well with a micro SD card.
    Now for the cons
I have 3 really big cons and that’s it.
I have to get in contact with customer service because I had only had the cameras(solar panel combo) for about 3 days and I have broken solar panel mount. Do not know what happened but it won’t tighten and the panel just flops around.
2nd the cameras get really foggy and misty looking around midnight thru day light but I live in texas so it’s very humid. But if anything comes across it doesn’t detect nor record..Maybe add some type of covering on each camera may help that.
And lastly I have about 65% wifi signal on each camera yet it takes almost 30 seconds to pull up each live/recorded video. Im not sure if that’s an app or camera issue. When I first installed them it would instantly pull the video up. So time will tell if it gets any better.
If anyone is having these problems and have been able to resolve them please reach out.
Overall I am very happy with my purchases and will more than likely buy again.

I would buy one of these again. I’ve had it 4 months now. Battery life is great, I wouldn’t say it lasts as long as stated but mine does get triggered a lot. I installed it next to a window so I don’t have to take the camera down for charging and just put the USB cable out there when it’s getting low. I had a Topcony before this but the night vision was hit and miss picking people up so didn’t live up to expectations-useless if it can’t do that. This is a similar design (identical case and uses similar software with some slight differences) but seems to work much better and picks up better with night vision. Image quality is great, day or night. I just leave it on the highest quality setting. My neighbours have now bought the same camera on my recommendation. Well worth the money.

I am purchasing a range of cameras at the moment to install in properties in Switzerland, France and Malaysia. This one is intended for external use at a chalet in France at 1100 metres so needs to be robust, weather-resistant and with long battery life. The signs at the moment are very encouraging – the unit was easy to connect to the (rather dodgy) internet, viewing angle is adequate and motion detection etc all up to scratch. Learning from past mistakes it was important to have a screw-in support rather than magnetic which has proved impossible to fix precisely except pointing straight out. So five-stars for the Cooau at least for now – only time will tell on battery life in winter conditions – and I will probably buy another to cover the back of the property. This review is NOT influenced by the free gift offer for a positive text.

Bought this camera to cover the area in front of my house.
The picture quality is quite good and the solar panel keeps it charged and usable.
Motion detection is sensitive even on the low sensitivity setting but better too much than not enough.
Nice product. Good value for the price.
Thinking about a second one to cover the back.
4 stars because setup was a little bumpy, but it straightened itself out.
Even with my own initial confusion the setup only took about 10 minutes.
Don’t think you’ll be disappointed unless you need all the bells and whistles. Solid, basic camera!

Simple set up and very good resolution, night vision is of course b&w but still clear, motion detection works perfectly and you can set it for the times you’re not home. No wires makes this a simple install , has low battery alarm so as you can charge it when needed. We went for a day at the beach on sunday and could still log in to see it. Overall highly recommend, I’ll be buying another 2 for back and side of house
10/07/21 update , the camera works really well but there is no way you will get 8 months out of battery , i would say 1.5 weeks at best but it is easy to remove and charge again , i would still recommend this but beware of battery life

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersHad the camera for 4 days impress with this thing and which I bought it earlier. It is about 100′ from our house which is where the router is and still have 60% connectivity. We use it to monitor our driveway to our house and back shop, which is all woods. Also we now know when our kids get dropped off the bus as we receive the message on our phones. Looking to add more now that we know how they work.

I base my high review mainly on the customer service I received from this seller. In addition I am impressed with the night vision, everything can be clearly seen and pictures clearly captured when taken at night. I also thought this camera was easy and straight forward to set up, the app you need to download is also easy to navigate and get the hang of. Also so far, battery life has been good, I bought this camera in March 2021 and still haven’t had to charge it. Please note this camera only records when it detects motion, so you may get a few videos recorded as sometimes there are false motion detections (picks up something other then human motion), but considering the price and other features, I would say this isn’t too much of an issue.

The camera does a good job watching over my rear yard. It was easy to set up and works well even when the wifi signal drops. I have just replaced my first camera as it would not stay connected. I had it for 9 months and it just stopped working. The support from the company was excellent so I bought it again. The battery life is very good

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAbsolutely recommend this product! Truly works on SOLAR power, easy to install! No more power provision needed.

So I live in a townhome setting and always wanted a security camera…. The cost of security camera was never an issue but the installation cost to provision the power to the camera was way more than the cost of the camera itself! (since I don’t really have power outlets outside close enough for where I wanted to install it)

This one solved the power problem completely! This thing is in theory truly wireless and the SOLAR panel does a very good job of keeping this powered on 24×7!

I have had it up and running for over a week and half now and the battery charges with the SOLAR panel very well! (Yes, even on Gloomy, rainy cloudy days)

I was a little worried about Winter if the panel was covered with SNOW, but someone answered a question that they had snow on it for over 6 days and the camera continued working, but the way I installed the solar panel (slant), the snow will not be able to accumulate. (but lets see what happens in Winter)

Literally took 15 – 20 minutes start to end to set up and and install!

Love the fact that you can switch from SD to HD (high Definition color) if you like… and the best part is it has Voice and Video!!! It gives you a live view and audio with in 10 to 15 seconds of opening the app… (keep it mind, it does take some time to get a live feed… its not instant the moment you open the app and I was expecting this delay because it is over IP) some may find this to be a problem, but for me it is not! I don’t even know if there is a product out there that gives you a instant feed the moment you open the app. Its a technology issue not a product issue the way I look at it.

I decided to not buy the cloud service, I am using a SD card instead and it does work perfect, it does not record constantly, but you have the ability to record as and when you need to.

Another big positive surprise for me was the quality of the SOLAR panel, I was thinking I would get something that was flimsy and could get damaged if there were strong winds, but to my pleasant surprise, the build quality of the solar panel is very robust! Even the camera feels nice and not made out of cheap quality materials!

It ships in sturdy packaging and this was a nice addition to my home!

Love this! Here is the reason why...

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersI have 5 security cameras from different manufactures and I can tell you this is without a doubt that this is a great camera. It has a long lasting battery, it can be charged via USB or you can charge it up and use the solar panel to keep it topped off at full power. What that means is that chances are very high that you won’t have to touch thing thing again once you install it. The network setup was simple, the camera takes amazing video and it notifies you FAST of any movement (not to mention it makes use of the SD card). The 2 way audio is a plus but be aware that you can’t use it when you and your phone are close and you have the APP open, tons of feedback (which is easily switched off when needed). So for everything it does and it does it all amazingly well I am giving this one 5 Stars

When I first opened the box I could tell how well made this product is – its solid, looks great and felt much better quality than I anticipated given the price. The set up took all of 5 minutes and was already partially charged so I could immediately try it out. Really, really impressed — clear vision (both at day and night), motion sensor seemed to work well (not too sensitive but picked up movements when I tested it walking in front etc) and the two way audio is really clear and loud (with adjustable volumes). Never left an amazon review before but just had to as this is half the price of well known brands but much better quality — felt a bit too good to be true when I ordered it but it couldn’t be better. To top it the camera has local storage so no need for monthly subscription is just another benefit. I will be getting another one!

We bought this just for a little added safety since we have gotten reports in our neighborhood that packages are being stolen from porches. We have two dogs, or as I like to call them – canine alarm systems – but if they are not on the front side of the house, we have no idea if something has been left on the porch. Especially since no one rings the bell anymore for deliveries.
So far, we couldn’t be happier. Setup was pretty easy and the motion sensor is sensitive enough to pick up any movement near our front door.
We also appreciate the solar charging panel as we do not have an available plug where we wanted to put this unit. All in all, very satisfied at this point.

I have been wanting a security camera to put on our front door. We highly recommend this camera. You can use an app to check alerts/motions, and you can also use the speaker to talk. Night vision is pretty clear and we set our motion to sensitive so it detects a lot of motions accurately. I like how we can put a sd card for storage as well. We haven’t used the solar yet as we are testing how long the battery takes to drain before we charge again. I will update once I know then we can decide if we want to install the solar or night. So far, so good!!!

Got this to cover my front yard and driveway since I live on a cul-de-sac and there are drivers that will tear up your lawn because it takes too much effort to make a proper U turn.

Since it would be difficult to run power to the front of the yard I needed the solar option.

Works well. No complaints so far. Thinking about getting another one for the very back of the yard.

    Not bad. Cordless and wireless.

Golden Review Award: 23 From Our UsersWe have an area in front of our garage that we cannot drill through so this solar powered camera works great. We installed in on a post that sticks out from our garage and where it’s at, it gets sun all day long, no matter what time of day. We were able to angle the camera just right that we would not only get in front of our house but the only neighbor that we have too. We’re able to see who turns the corner and can clearly see license plate numbers whether it’s day or night. We live in a condo complex and this thing has some great night vision. We were having some issues with people attempting to break into cars and the one camera we do have that requires it to be plugged in, the angle of it does not get plate numbers, just the cars and the people attempting to break in. With this camera, I’m able to get the angle that we need and can clearly see license plate numbers either in the front or the back. This was really easy to install and using the app is just as easy. We can take clear pictures while watching the playback and when it comes to videos, we’re able to play, pause and even download them. The picture quality during the day is very clear but what surprised me was the clarity of the night vision. There’s no blur or grainy looking picture or video. Has really come in handy on several occasions and just makes it easier because the charge that it gets from the sun has kept the power on this camera going.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI was using the Argus 2 camera for a couple of years. For some reason, when I recently had to set the Argus app up again on a new smartphone, I didn’t have any luck. When I went to reset the Argus with the button on the side of the device, it stopped functioning. Without resetting it, I couldn’t figure out how to set it up from scratch on my new phone. So, it unfortunately became useless to me.

I started shopping for a replacement and came across this brand. It has great reviews and it’s about the same price so I decided to give it a shot. Here is what I’ve noticed about this COOAU camera compared to the Argus Pro 2 that I formerly used:

This one has a narrower field of view. The Argus would see a larger area.

The app works better on the COOAU cam, and the antennas mounted on the cam provide a better connection to my router. Everything is speedier to load and just works better.

The COOAU cam doesn’t have any silicone cover in the box, so there’s no way to keep rain, snow, dust, etc. off the lens. It will occasionally get dirty and need cleaning. I didn’t have this issue with the Argus Pro 2.

Since I already had the Argus mounted and connected to solar panel, I was able to leave all of that equipment intact and simply screw this COOAU cam onto the existing mount and connect it to the existing solar panel.

The speaker and mic system works way better on this compared to the Argus Pro 2.

I’ll give 4 stars. Provide a better lens cover in the box, and increase the view angle of the lens and this would be a 5 star product.

when I bought this product. I am thinking whether this product is better than my previous product. but I think positively and I am sure that this product will make me happy and better than the product I used before.
when this product arrived I was very satisfied with the results

Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersAnswer: although the unit charged correctly when setting up, I installed the Solar panel at its place (18ft high in a tree) and found it wouldn’t charge the camera. I immediately, and I think sensibly, thought the problem lay in the Micro USB attached to the Solar panel. After contacting the Manufacturer in China, they were about to depart on their Mammoth Chinese New Year – so the help and warranty goes on hold. I contacted Amazon and they suggested I buy another SP, which I did and plugging it into the camera found, to my surprise (as the camera had charged okay at time of set-up) the issue was not with the Micro USB on the SP but the USB on the camera. I can only assume that whatever the means of securing the USB connector in the camera (adhesive, crimp whatever) it was not sufficiently robust to withstand the withdrawal of the USB 5V power cable after charging. I wasted about a week and Such a pity as the camera works fine. Read the comments below. I hope COOAU interrogates the unit returned to Amazon to avoid future issues, such an incopetence to bruise a reputation for something so avoidable:

    Setting up the camera:
I bought this camera from a review that confirmed it worked from a distance of 340 ft. My gateway being installed is around 310 ft. When going through the setup using the app CloudEdge downloaded from Apple, I found in the Settings an Installation Guide. I use an ORBI Netgear Mesh WiFi with only one Booster in my house – I plugged the Booster in the garage as I had found before that a garage-door has less signal attenuation than a brick wall. At 320 ft from the Booster with the garage door shut, I can a receive a signal using a WiFi SpeedCheck of 10-16Mbps download and 6Mbps upload. The Installation Guide will only announce perfect Wifi of 4 bar strength to select an installation location – Don’t worry – If your camera at its location is only two Bars with a ‘Not fit for camera installation’ the signal is adequate. A camera only requires say 4Mbps. (The Photos show the 18ft high tree -nstallation and the 310ft distance from the house plus the current shot from the camera of the gate install). The Infra Red imaging is brilliant.
Caution – I think there is an error in the instructions of the camera that states a 15 minute initial charge but later states the charge time as 15 hours. I charged for about 20 minutes and it read ‘fully charged.’
I installed a (recommended max) 128mb Micro SC (not included) and so far taking images and movies with the shot time ‘off ‘I’m always charged (but I do live in Florida).
Conclusion: But for Chinese New Year and the unforgivable fault in the mounting of the only part of the camera that needs interaction with the customer, i.e. the Micro USB, I highly recommend this camera – its performance is extraordinary at the range possible. I also commend Amazon – for exemplary service. So if you purchase you now know what to look out for. Enjoy….

So why did I give the Camera Kit 4 Stars and the Operation 5?

Golden Review Award: 22 From Our UsersI’ve always been a huge fan of the cloud edge app, which this camera is using because it’s so easy to use and especially so easy to connect and hence this is already my 7th camera for the cloud edge eco system and it’s actually my favorite one because of the great video footage, the futuristic design and of course because of the solar panel. I still have some old ones without solar panel and even though, the battery can last for a couple of month, with my many cameras, there’s always one or two with low battery and so I figured it’s time to replace them all with solar powered cameras because this really works and this is no exception. I’ve charged it to 100% initially over a week ago and it’s still at 100% with the help of the solar panel and it’s not even facing south, but only SW. The build of the camera and the panel is very solid. Especially the seal on the camera for the micro USB port is one of the best I’ve ever seen and the solar panel looks also very robust. It has a nice matte finish and is not mirroring. The footage is great night and day and the PIR is detecting all kind every human movement and is recording to the micro SD card (not included) or the cloud (subscription needed). Set-up took only minutes and installing not much more. Very happy with it.

This is a superb outdoor security camera being wireless and having a solar rechargeable battery connect directly to your wifi at 1080p, this is also an ir night vision. The camera comes with 2-way audio, pir motion detection, and is waterproof. You store everything with an sd and card/cloud storage.

This is a great nice-looking camera to hang anywhere, I put it in the back so I can keep an eye out on my detached office with the rechargeable battery & solar powered unit I am safe and can look on my phone at any time. This Cooau solar powered security camera can run all day with the 10400mah large-capacity battery and new solar panel. The nice thing is that this large panel gets more sunlight and is not connected directly to the camera.

The Solar panel not being connected directly to the camera is the key thing for this perfect camera as it gives you maximum flexibility when hanging. The camera is at the door, and the panel is around a right corner, so it is in the sun the whole day. With the larger sunlight area and stronger light-absorbing material you never need to remove the camera to charge during use.

100% wire-free (other than wire from solar panel to camera) & enhanced dual 4dbi antenna the Cooau outdoor security camera runs on 2.4 ghz wifi and wire-free with 2 enhanced 4dbi antennas, covering most of your house. And has full 1080p hd & ir night vision so your picture is always good and clear even at night.

An excellent camera with very good images/videos and easy to install and connect. Sharing the camera on the app with other devices (of different users) is innovative. Price was great (discount offer). Delivered before the expected date.

An update: I have been using the camera for almost 5 months now. The camera itself is excellent and well built. Holds the charge for at least 4 months. The app is sometimes glitchy. Make sure it is updated otherwise some functions would be disabled, e.g. speaker. For best quality, set the view as HD not SD.

The camera is compact and well built. Access to the usb port and microSD card slot is underneath and protected with a rubber access flap to provide weatherproof operation. Install and setup using the CloudEdge app is simple. WiFi connection is good (80%) signal to router located approx. 5m away inside the house. Picture quality in day and night modes is good. Have not had the device long enough to comment on battery life yet. Motion detection is good enough to capture images and video of callers to the house and not get triggered with spurious alerts from passing cars etc. Would recommend this security camera.

Golden Review Award: 37 From Our Users* Using this on my patio to watch into the backyard. During the day if kids playing there or in the evening/night for deers.
    * Simple setup. The app is very simple to get the camera ready. You need to connect the app to Wi-Fi once and add the camera to that after that you can access it from anywhere. You need a regular 2.4 GHz wifi connection for this. I tried connecting to my router wifi which is default to 5GHz and it does not get the camera setup then I moved that to my mesh network setup which is 2,4 GHz it took 2 mins t setup the camera and another 2-3 min to upgrade the firmware on cam.
    * Solar panel looks well made and the screen is not reflective.
    * App is very well made and a lot of features. 4+ rating on the Google play store.
    * Camera has its own battery and can work without a panel also once charged. (Not sure how long it will work still exploring that).
    * Camera also has a good Night vision and Motion sensor.
    * Mounting plates and screws come in box. I did not mount it yet as I moving it around the patio.
    * Solar panel cord to camera is around 10 ft or may be more.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersNeatly packaged on arrival in a minimal but attractive white box. The camera itself is solidly built and packed in foam. Also included are 4 screws and 4 wall plugs, which is good as that gives you a spare.
I must say it’s pleasing to have a small manual with it, compared with some other cameras I’ve had that had only one page of instructions!
So far so good. I’m particularly pleased with the rapid connection time to the Wi-Fi signal. That compares favourably with other cameras I have on the same network using the same app Cloudedge. It connected very quickly to the app using the QR code method.
Drilling the 3 screw holes took a few minutes up the ladder and obviously you need to have a drill and masonry bit + crosshead screwdriver.
    So far I am pleased.
It is replacing another battery Wi-Fi camera that failed after 11 months (Kamtron).
Please note that if you want to record any video you will need a microSD card as well.

Bought this camera to keep an eye on the cars and bump up our security. Chose this one due to the rechargeable battery as I do not have an easily accessible power supply where I wanted to put the camera.
Battery life is decent, wouldn’t last 3 months but it is in a high traffic area, so is active a lot.
Video quality is decent in the daytime, and the night vision is surprising good for a budget camera. I have included a couple of screenshots from the live feed on my phone.
Motion detection seems to work fine, snapping a video of between 20 to 60 seconds (depending on your app settings) every time it detects something.
The app and camera were straight forward to set up and get connected.
The only issue I had was with detection alerts and notifications not working properly.
After sales customer support from both the seller and cooau tech support has been great. Better customer service than I usually receive from the ‘big brands’! Always responded to emails within 24 hours and were really helpful in getting it sorted out.
Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the brand based on their customer service.

Decent camera with excellent after sales suppo

I wanted a battery/WiFi camera for my garages, which have no power and are some distance from the house. The ability to tap into the camera via my smartphone was also essential – I wanted phone alerts similar to what is offered by Ring and other well known brands, without the hefty price tag.

I’d looked at other WiFi cameras but found this one to be reasonably priced, with a good battery life and reviewed phone app.

I brought a WiFi extender to go with it (around 15) to ensure good signal strength as my garages are a good 20m and one insulated wall from the WiFi router. I haven’t tested the camera without the extender but with the two large antenna on the camera, the signal *might* just reach.

The camera’s been working well for a week or so now with no issues. It’s a heavy, solid construction (likely ABS plastic but feels like metal) and comes with a metal mounting bracket and screws, as well as clear instructions and troubleshooting guidance. I’ve not had the camera long enough to comment on battery life yet, but the app reports it’s still at full power – so far, so good.

The night/low light quality is great and setup was straightforward. The two-way comms is a bonus – I’ve not had to use that function yet but it’s nice knowing I can talk with anyone near the camera.

The app (CloudEdge) is very good; far better than I expected for the price. It looks like you can connect multiple COOAU cameras to the app and expand your network.

You can choose the sensitivity for app alerts, which helps eliminate false positives. I don’t believe you’ll ever eliminate all the false alerts, but I’d rather my phone ping when the camera detects a cat or passing car than have no alerts at all!

I intended buying this as a stop-gap until I could get power to my garage and install a wired camera, but I don’t feel like I need to now. If the battery holds as well as other reviews have written, this will become a permanent feature.

Overal I’m pleasantly surprised with the quality of both the hardware and app software. It’s a great peace of mind, especially when you’re not home.

Don’t be fooled into buying branded products when reasonably priced alternatives such as this exist. 5 stars all around.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersSo I came with an update of my first review.
I ordered 2 cameras to use them at my remote mountain house.
One of them had some quality issues, but I realised it qas due to not being close enough to my front door.
The second one has a faulty light sensor and it doesn’t know the difference between night and day and it keeps the IR on on auto mode.
However, after I contacted the seller, they didn’t just offered me another one camera for free, but also a second indoor camera as a present. WOW!
Well done to COOAU! Amazing customer care!
Now that is something I want to deal in my everyday life please.
Besides the entire story. The cameras are great for home use. Easy to install, 15 minutes max and they are on and recording.
They also have an amazing safety system which other companies don’t. 99% of the thiefs will blow your electricity off before breaking in the house. Guess what, this cameras work without veing plugged and they record on micro sd card.
Pair these with an 3G/4G internet from a router with battery and sim or an old phone with hotspot and ‘BANG!’ you have the best security system.
    Stay safe! Stay happy!

You charge up the battery and forget it for months, I have mounted my tripod on a board, with a picture hanger on the back, I then put a few hanger pegs on the walls around my house at strategic points I can now move my camera around easily to watch different areas. I usually watch hedgehogs, but have caught foxes, cats and mice , my garden is a veritable zoo at night, and I can watch it any time any day, on my phone. We were after a cheap security camera, with high quality video, sound and easy to install. After reading the reviews for this camera I thought I’d give a go.
How glad I was, the pairing process was ridiculously easy and installing the camera was the easiest 10 minutes I’ve ever had to spend on a ladder. It has a real solid feel to it and has now been up for a week in horrendous weather, wind, rain and a couple of frosty nights, and it has continued to operate and film all the local foxes and cats using our drive as a short cut. We were so impressed we have bought 2 more, another for us and one for my sister. I cannot recommend this camera enough and I will be buying more.

I always wanted a battery rechargeable CCTV for my back garden as drilling through the wall for the power is geographically challenging. This camera serves exactly my purpose. The camera was very straight forward to configure and be mounted on a wall. The image resolution for day and night is quite clear and the app functionalities are intuitive without having to read the manual. One main difference between the battery rechargeable camera and the conventional one is that the former will not record automatically onto the SD card unless a motion is detected to save power, which is OK for areas of little activity such as a back garden. Battery consumption rate is good but yet to see if it will last 5 to 8 months.

Good camera simple to set up and operate

Very great camera in build with strong plastic, great app and easy installation. Night vision and daily vision is excellent in live stream and recordings. The only thing I don’t like that camera detects “humans” according cam algos described, sometimes I’m getting out with dog and returning back without any record on cam in clear non rainy day, mailman came like 6 times and was recorded once. I think detection sensor got some humidity and became less sensitive, at the house cam worked great I got instant alerts over app from 20 feet, but after 2 days of use outdoors I got issues even getting notices, I was moving hands and jumping, next few hours it takes a record of neighbor from 40 feet away.

Golden Review Award: 36 From Our UsersWe’ve had a spate of burglaries in our neighbourhood the past month. So was looking at reviews for decent wireless security cameras .Came across this Cooau camera and the great reviews .I ordered 3 cameras and 3, 128gb micro memory cards to put in each camera .The cameras arrived downloaded the cloud edge app .I put the 3 micro memory cards in each camera. All 3 cards formatted by using the app they took about 10 to 20 seconds to format Each camera easily set up to my virgin media hub 3 which is dual band. So didn’t have to worry about changing any 2.4ghz or 5ghz settings on the router .I charged each camera for 12 hours for a full charge according to the instructions . I fitted one camera at the front of the house one on the side of the house and one at the back of the house .You can name each camera in the app example front of house side and back of house etc etc. I fitted each camera 10 foot high. Each camera facing down to provide a wider detection area .The Wall plugs and screws that come with the cameras are obviously adequate but I used larger Wall plugs and Screws. The winds absolutely batter our back garden and side of house .I all so wiped some Vaseline on the screw connection and ball connection to stop any rust and make it easier to unscrew the camera when it comes to recharge the cameras .The cameras in operation are excellent very clear colour picture on HD in the daytime and excellent HD picture in black and white at night time. The alerts come to your mobile phone very quick you can watch the Video through the memory card it all so gives you still pictures as well .So far been excellent in operation .Hopefully still be the same after a British winter.

I have only been using the camera for about a week but so far I’m really impressed.
1/ The camera arrived in a day very well packed.
2/ The camera was very easy to set up using the APP to connect to my Phone- If I can manage this anyone can!
3/ I secured the camera just under the eves of my 2 story house which was just a mater of drilling 3 holes and securing the bracket. I actually fitted the camera slightly higher than instructed as I wanted it out of reach.
4/ Straight away the camera started sending pictures to my phone.
5/ The camera works well in both Daylight and also Night vision with good quality pictures.
I brought this camera to protect my Outside Christmas decorations from anyone interfering with them, so it is a little early to say if it will be effective at putting people off. But I pretty sure that if they do then the camera will catch them in the act !

Overall very impressed with the product however the app used to view footage and access the cameras features could do with some work. Have to manually turn off the motion detecting when I know I’m going to be outside during the day as the detect at night only setting doesn’t work. Its still a great camera and picture quality is brilliant day and night. I’d give the camera 5 stars but the app probably only 3.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI was looking for a rechargeable outdoor camera to check our front door. As I hadn’t decided about where to install the camera, battery power and wifi connectivity along with the night vision and mobile app connectivity were the main features I was looking for.

This little camera is very easy to setup with clear instructions. It took me only 2 minutes. The first thing you should do is to adjust the motion detection features, since you get a notification each time a movement is detected. You can select the time of the day and sensitivity for motion detection.

The picture quality at night is quite good. Our street is well lit, and this should make the job easier for the night mode, but still you can get a good image from a long distance.

We may not use the intercom mode much, but the sound quality is good. Overall, I found what I needed, very happy with the produc

    No wiring

Ordered this to place in my alleyway (outside) – have to say I am very impressed with the quality, not only the physical build quality of the camera but also the ease of setting up with the app.

I have a Ring camera and this camera is as good and at a fraction of the price.

The camera feels quality with a nice bit of weight, not at all flimsy. Also, it’s smaller than I had expected, which is good !!

The app is easy to use and setting up the camera involves scanning a couple of QR codes – and that’s it.

    Would recommend

Great little security camera and easy to use

I like this stylish outdoor camera. It comes with full HD quality for both Video and picture. Motion detection is very good. The two antennas are an advantage for good signal reception. I like the battery and micro SD feature. You have the option to store them in SD card. so I don’t want to pay for cloud. 2-way communication is a plus. Also, I like that we can access history as videos with original audio, delete the unwanted pictures or videos just from the app itself, so I don’t need to open the SD card all the time. Overall, I am satisfied with the product. I recommend this camera for anyone who is looking for a decent camera for a decent price.

    What a battery
