Sterling Security Rating explained
Our security rating is a simple to follow guide which denotes the strength and application of the relevant chains and padlocks.
The colour coding show the light, mid or heavy use of the padlock/chain while the Security Rating show how effective the appropriate padlock will be.
We also have the Sold Secure Approved chains and padlock
Sold Secure Test Requirements
- Drilling – resist drilling for at least 5 minutes
- Torque Attack – resist torque attack for at least 5 minutes (torque used shall be 400Nm)
- Pull Attack – chains shall resist attack using slide hammer
- Cutting – chains resist attack for not less than 5 minutes
- Bolt Cropper – Chain shall resist attack using manually operated bolt croppers with an arm length of up to 1,070m
- Freezing – the chain shall be frozen to -40°c and should then withstand a 5 minutes attack with a hammer

This is rated bicycle diamond rated even though it doesn't say in the details
Great stuff, together with Burg-Wachter 100D it’s by a very wide margin the cheapest way to have a combination that achieves the bicycle diamond rating, anything else costs more than double.
The chain is made of manganese steel, probably the best material when anything besides an angle grinder wouldn’t work, because it works harden like nothing else, of course it can still be cut, but it adds time. Also chains are harder to cut with an angle grinder because they flop around, unlike an u-lock.
Proper chai
If you love it, protect it…. !
My only gripe is the massive 33% price drop just after i bought it… that’s not your concern though,, if you want a good chain and don’t mind the heavy weight… this one is the one you want. worth every penny !
Don’t forget you need and equal standard padlock and an alarm I have a brake disc lock also, and an Airtag is a good idea also…. the chain alone will not stop pro theives!
Very heavy duty deterrent.
They are super chunky. Chain looks like it would be a nightmare for bike thieves to break. On the downside, very heavy th carry in a backpack. You can wrap them around the handlebars or frame.
Security for the drive gate
I checked many reviews for this type of chain, and came to the conclusion that this was an ideal choice. Good quality, weatherproof and looks good.
Used together with a good quality security padlock.
Solid chai
This looks really solid. It is really heavy. If you buy this good padlock is a must.
Bike isn't stolen yet.
Extremely heavy and thick chain made from a hardened material that is highly resistant to most attacks.
Great for chaining up your bike as long as you’re ok with the added weight of having it in a backpack.
Just keep in mind that at this durability it could be very dangerous to attempt to grind through.
Remember that any chain is only going to be as strong as what you attach it to. Don’t bother buying this if you aren’t also prepared to buy a strong lock that is difficult to pick to go with it.

A SUPERB VALUE PRODUCT, BUT THE DIAMETER OF THE LOCK’S HASP, YOU USE TO “JOIN” THE CHAIN, IS CRUCIAL. WON’T ALLOW ANY OF MY U-LOCKS, TO GO-THROUGH, BEYOND THE SLIGHTLY THINNER “U” ENDS, AND THAT DOES NOT AFFORD SPACE, TO ENGAGE THE CROSSBAR.
