Great for restricting a window opening, easy to install only 4 screws, the plastic covers finish them off nicely. I went for the brown finish as this was for stripped and unpainted timber windows in a bathroom, looks good. I need two, so the 2 pack was ideal and good value.

I installed these on a balcony door, the installation was the exact same if you was to do these for a window. My baby toddler loves opening the door so we was worried if he ventured in there when unsupervised so we had installed this. Nothing negative to say, as it’s super strong, reliable and secure.

Good service, arrived on time. The locks themselves were very simple to fit (fitted in minutes) and they feel really secure, great for child safety and for security. I have also fitted some to small top windows to allow some ventilation for the dog when we nip out.

I hadn’t originally realised these were screw in restrictors. They are of a good quality and very good value for money. No instructions is disappointing as you have to figure it all out yourself which feels like added faff!

Solid window restrictors with solid and strong metal bases, and tough steel wire measuring 19.5cm. They are ideal to prevent young children from leaning out of windows, as well as a physical and visual deterrent to would be burglars.

With our house being south facing, it is nice to open windows at the front to get a breeze coming through in Summer. However, even with CCTV you feel a bit nervous about leaving windows wide open in case you get a chancer.

With the supplied cable you can choose how to install the 2 bases so that you either use the full almost 20cm, or move them away from each other during install to close the opening width.

You cannot cut or remake the cable shorter.

Really good value at 14.95 at time of writing.

Can’t wait to get them installed

I found these window locks easy to install, however, I thought the screws provided is a bit long for the window. casing. I didn’t want to screw the locks in the casing as UPVC frames are expensive, so i opted for a stick-on version; I do recommend these locks.

    Pros
    – Studier cable
    – Lock with keys

    Cons
    – Need to damage your existing UPVC window
    – A bit ugly on the window

The product description is a bit misleading in places, so bear in mind that these are only window restrictors, they are used for the safety of children and/or pets, and they are not necessarily a security device to prevent anyone from entering your home. As window restrictors, these are really good, and they can offer peace of mind (to those with children and/or pets) once they are fitted, but there really isn’t any need for the manufacturer to try and ‘over-sell’ the product.

The claim that “This prevents burglars and thieves from accessing your home” is false, they do not ‘prevent’, but they may ‘hinder’ anyone from accessing your home. The claim that “It can also be used as an anti-vandal feature by preventing break-ins” is again, false, the gap is indeed too small for an adult to fit through, but a set of bolt cutters will make light work of the cable, rendering the window restrictor completely useless as an “anti-vandal feature”.

Also, what’s to stop a vandal or thief just pulling the window open, by using force?

That question leads to the contradictory information in the product description…

“The UAP window cable restrictor lock is ideal for families with children under the age of five as it can take on up to 100kg of load. This is twice the industry standard of 50kg, so you can rest assured you’re getting a product that actually works to ensure the safety and security of your kids. The minimum amount of load the window limiter can take is 35 kg. However, you may need to fit multiple restrictors to achieve this.”

Surely the “minimum amount of load” is 0kg, as in no load whatsoever, and why would you need to fit multiple restrictors to achieve a minimum load? It’s the maximum load on a single window restrictor that is important to potential customers, so a little clarification [product description amendment] is needed here.

Overall, these really are good robust window restrictors, all components, including instructions, are included within individual packaging, and they are relatively easy to fit, but do only purchase them for their primary purpose (safety of children and/or pets), and nothing more.

These are a great value set of window restrictors, currently priced at 14.95 for a set of 4.
I’m really bad at DIY so i got my Dad to fit 1 of them to trial it, I have UPVC windows in my conservatory, and the lock fitted and attached to the window without any problem once we worked out the best/safest position. The instructions were useful, and the product seems easy to use. Haven’t yet had the warm weather to try it out a few times but window opens and closes with no problems.

I would really recommend these, they are extremely well made and very durable products. There are good instructions as to how to fit and they work a treat. I have mine on the front windows to stop them from being pulled open to far by my cat but will also give more security and make it tricky for anyone to pull a window open also. They will be good for children bedrooms to prevent windows from opening too far and keeping little ones safe too. I am genuinely impressed by these and they will very easy to install.

These window restrictors are very easy to fit, they come with full instructions and screws plus the key to work them, not ideal only 1 key but at least your not over run with keys. They seem good quality and after fitting I pulled so hard and it never moved. A great idea keeping you safe and unwanted guest’s out and you can have air by having the window open. You get 4 in a pack and at 14.95 its a very good price.

Personally we had nothing but problems trying to install these window restricrors.
I have a 4 and a 5 year old who are fascinated with their bedroom windows so it goes without saying that these were needed.

Unfortunately the screws that were provided weren’t suitable for our windows so we had to made a trip to purchase ones that were.

Other than that they really are good value for money and the safety of my children is absolutely priceless! They seem sturdy enough and have done the job they were intended for!

The restrictor appears to be well made and is finished well, it comes with self tapping screws saving a lot of time and making it easy to install (once you have worked out where and how). There are no instructions of any kind. You have to work these out for yourself, where on the window and frame you want to install it (out of reach of a possible thief cutting the wire?) How far you wish the window to be restricted by distancing the lock and anchor components. I got annoyed when trying to take the plastic surround off the lock, its firmly held on by plastic lugs to the metal, requiring pliers and 2 screw drivers to release it. This and no instructions reduced a 5 star to 4. It does do the job.

These are extremely well made – solid metal bases and a very strong connecting wire with each lock having its own key.

These will require a bit of planning of what and where they will be screwed to – the SELF TAPPING screws are 45mm in length and the small base needs 41mm depth to screw into once the screws are inserted in the holes and the main lock unit screws need 38mm of screw depth.

The amount the window that opens (the gap), is determined by where the lock is positioned in relation to the smaller base. The closer they are together, the wider the opening will be. In other words, the length of the physical wire between lock and base is fixed, there is no way to adjust other than the position of the lock unit to the base unit.

Each lock has its own key, which can only be INSERT or REMOVED when the lock is CLOSED – if the lock is opened, then the key remains in and cannot be removed until it is turned to the closed position. So you’ll never lose a key if the lock is open… nice little feature.

Overall, good solid window restrictors, just need to be mindful where these will be screwed into, and at the time of review these are priced at 14.95, which I would say is pretty good value for money for these solid and strong restrictors.
