I have purchased a few security cameras over the last few years and this Wansview is my second one of this brand. Very impressed with the previous indoor one and equally impressed with this W6 Black outdoor camera.
Ordered it Wednesday, it arrived early on Friday morning and I had it installed by 4pm on Friday. The ease of set up is so simple – anyone could do it. Download the free App and follow the very simple instructions and hey presto, it’s up and running.
Clarity on daytime and night vision is very impressive. Well built camera unit and simple to install. There’s even a screw driver in the pack.
Really impressed with this camera for quality, price and ease of installation. You can add several cameras onto the same app and edit the camera names easy.
Full marks from me in all respects.
Buy one (or several) I’m sure you’ll not be disappointed.
This is a brilliant little camera, easy to set up easy to use, surprised by its size, smaller than I expected.Just wish they could make the lead longer with a small plug join half way so you don’t have to drill such a big hole, for those that bought one will know what I mean. The picture quality is brilliant in day and night mode, just wish the motion sensor wasn’t so sensitive even on the lowest setting but this is minor when it give you security and peace of mind.
Excellent camera with HD picture, night vision is also very good. Very easy to set up with the app. The camera has two way audio, this has been very handy speaking to any courier or delivery drivers. I like that I can check the camera view when I am away from home too .Works with Alexa so I can view on my Alexa show with ease. You can opt for motion alerts and cloud storage. I also purchased an SD card so I am able to save footage until it overwrites again. Very pleased with my purchase.
Followed the quick installation guide and it was very straightforward to set up, which included pointing the camera at a QR code generated by the app on my phone. I found the images to be clearer and sharper than other cameras I have had, both day and night I can see which cat is patrolling my garden! Sound quality is clear enough for me.
It doesn’t appear to have an option for continuous recording, but the motion detection can be adjusted for sensitivity and area and this seems to work well. You can use an SD card for storage and access of historical motion events but it works better with the cloud subscription. Recordings plays for a few seconds before the motion event and run for about 40 seconds on SD card playback, longer on the cloud. Camera has combined triple leads like many others; power, reset button and RJ45 (which includes useful set up lights but no weatherproof cap). As usual the lead needs a significant diameter hole to pass through.
Thought by the price and on black Friday deals to give this a purchase. I’m so glad I did place an order as this camera is great value for money, very easy to install and if they’re were more discounts on your cameras I would gladly purchase another couple no problem
I’m thinking of getting another few it’s that good not just for security, but for seeing who’s prowling about at night and being part of the neighbourhood watch with just looking at the app on your phone, laptop, ipad, TV etc. It really is great and for the cost I would highly recommend this product to anyone wanting that piece of mind not just for yourself but for your street or workplace. 10/10
I got this camera as I wanted something to look over my patio area.
I was overall impressed when it 1st arrived. I did wonder how to sort out the wires as I didnt want a massive hole through my wall. And I saw a youtube video where a guy used an outdoor junction box. So I did this. The box covers the hole through the wall where the power cable goes. With silicone around it to stop any rain. Then all the other wires to the camera go into the box and it looks tidy. The camera was then easy to install. The app was easy to find and to get. Wi fi was easy to sort on the cam once I actually put the camera near the wifi. Iv since put a 32gb micro ad card in. Again super easy.
The picture quality is actually really good. I wasnt expecting it to be as good as it was as it was a cheaper camera. But impressed. It’s pretty clear in the day and night. So I’m quite happy with it.
The only 1 thing I can say it the motion sensor.. it’s quite sensitive. Even in the low mode. A bit of wind and my plant moves. Or the cover to the hutch and it goes off. But I sometimes turn the camera off if I’m home as my dogs set it off too. So it’s usually in at night and when I’m not home.
Over all it’s a really good camera for the price.
Better than some other cameras that I looked at. Definitely would reccomend this to anyone.
Obtained this cam to add to a few of my other Wansview cams, and the setup was simple, including adding to the app – just the standard QR Wifi link up and we’re ready to go. Cam feels well built and additional accessories provided incl. Ethernet cable, mount alignment template and screws (+screw plugs/screwdriver). Comparing image quality with Q5, personally, the Wansview Q5 has slightly better quality, but obviously, the main feature for this cam is being outdoor-proof.
I’ve had a few Wansview cameras now and I have to say I can’t fault them, this one is again is great.. good quality picture and also night vision is really good, see pic attached.. it was actually really dark at the time…the motion sensor is quite sensitive but I’d rather that and it is adjustable. Was very easy to set up and installation was quick and easy with templates for the screw holes etc. Makes me feel more secure being able to view around the outside of my house from my phone. Customer service is also excellent, should you need to contact them they get back to you very quickly. Would definitely recommend
Hi all
I’ve reviewed quite a few different security cameras (e.g. ReoLink) in the past, and honestly I’ve found this to be a great security camera at this relatively cheap price point. It’s image quality is great and the fact that it has ONVIF capabilities is very helpful for those who might look to setup their own NAS. It has Amazon Alexa support, but the only feature I think it lacks is integration with Google Home – hopefully something that they will work on soon.
Other than that, a great camera!
This is an absolutely brilliant camera. The night vision is crystal clear and even with it switched off, the camera still works brilliantly in the dark.
Picture quality is also brilliant, not pixelated or the creeping black blob like alot of other cameras.
The options for the motion detection feature are spot on. You can drag a square around the screen to set exactly where you want the motion detection to pick up. For example if i drag the square so its only a small area in front of my door, it doesn’t activate every time a car goes past.
Very very impressed with this camera. Well worth it!
Ever since Alexa arrived, most third-party devices have been a bit hit-or-miss because of the restrictions of connecting only to 2.4ghz frequencies. This camera connects first time (within 2 minutes) and syncs with Alexa without fuss.
Everything you need (bar a drill) to install is included in the box. Instructions are clear and concise and the Wansview app works across all of my android devices.
Easy to physically set-up (although I would have preferred a detachable cable system for all the connectors and not just the power supply).
The camera is constructed around a robust metal casing and upon first use, pictures are clear and focused (including night vision). Motion tracking does have a slight lag however.
Recommended.
W6 camera has a sleek design, small in size and very easy to set up.
I didn’t use it outdoor, but tried it indoor and it worked perfectly.
The manual is easy to understand and the customer service is wonderful. I have w5 camera so I well know this product and their perfect customer service. The image quality is excellent and the night vision is fantastic.
You can add all the cameras in one app account so it is easy to navigate between your different cameras.
Brilliant CCTV camera, very easy to set up and register to the app and WiFi. No fiddling around just scan the QR code and it’s done. The Wansview app is really good and seems really stable too. The camera can take a memory card so can store footage without any further costs, has a microphone and speaker so you can hear what’s going on and so talk back from the app. It’s a solid well built piece of kit that looks great. Really clear images even on dull days and at night. App gives ability to view other cameras at once and also share the footage to friends/family. Really pleased with this camera all round and will be buying more
Received next day after ordering. Well packaged and contained easy to follow instructions. Followed the steps and got the camera connected to WiFi. The pictures qualify is excellent and the 2 way audio is brilliant as with the camera overseeing the front door speaking to couriers forces example is so convient. I have various makes of Wansview cameras both indoor and outdoor and this is the best one yet in my opinion. Keep the development going is what’s I say. You won’t be disappointed with the purchase of ones of these.
I tried many outdoor cameras and this is by far the best one I have. some of the other brands tent to not last very long even through they are rated for outdoor use. normally things start to corrode and then you can just throw them away. But this camera is standing well with the night vision and motion detection works smoothly as expected.
The software installation is a breeze and very use friendly and you don’t need an NVR or subscription because you can record to its micro sd card (sold separately) – this is a plus because there are currently many cameras on the market moving towards subscriptions to record the data and do not allow you to do otherwise. However this camera gives you both option for you to choose.
overall a solid camera
This is the fifth camera I’ve had from Wansview over the past few years, with the previous four being a variety indoor models. I always found them to be excellent quality and great value for money. The W6 is no exception. It features a solid construction, high quality image and good night vision capabilities. It is also small in size. The setup is straight forward and took only a few minutes as I already had the Wansview Cloud app installed for my other cameras. I used the QR code method which worked seamlessly to connect the camera to my wireless network (2.4GHz only, 5GHz is not supported). There is also an Ethernet connector available.
There are two options for recording images and video – either the subscription based Cloud offering from Wansview, or the microSD card slot that is secured behind two screws at the base of the camera.
I’ve not yet used the camera outdoors as I need to drill a hole for the power cable to pass through, but it has worked very well during testing indoors. For the price, this is an excellent camera and great value for money.
The app is pretty good, it took me a bit of time to figure out all the possibilities. Initially I thought you could only view 10 second clips of motion but then realised there was an option to replay any recordings as this camera will record any motion for as long as it goes on. You can set the motion area and the sensitivity via the app which is good. I live near a main road and often find that headlights shining on to my drive trigger the motion detection to start recording. Other things like rain or animals even insects will trigger the motion detection unless you drop the sensitivity right down.
One of the main issues I had with this camera which I managed to resolve after doing some research was a lag in the video. This was being caused by the fact that my router is dual channel and was set to use both channels. By splitting the channels and giving them seperate names I was then able to connect my cameras to the 2.4 channel and this resulted in the camera working much better. I have since purchased and installed a second camera and plan on installing a third to cover the back of my house.
If you are thinking of using a micro sd card you really don’t need more than 32gb. I purchased 128gb for the first camera and after realising I hadn’t even used 2gb in over a week I opted for a 32gb card for the second camera. The micro sd card will overwrite the oldest files if it fills up anyway.
Pros:
*Good quality product with thoughtful extras
*Good and quick app which is easy to use
*Great price
*Don’t have to pay for cloud
*Fairly easy to install
*Micro sd slot upto 128gb
*Clear speaker communication
Cons:
*Motion detection can be a bit too sensitive
*You may experience video lag if you have a poor signal or incorrectly set router
*Would be great to have the option to record continuously
*If you have multiple cameras they may not always be in absolute sync, depending on signal / connection
I have given this product 5 stars, whilst it does have some cons, the benefits outweigh it and for the cost, it is simply excellent and has given me peace of mind following a security incident I had prior. I would definitely recommend this for those who want security at a great price.
I had W4 previously and got W6 as this allows audio both ways. Comparing both the model, somehow I thought the installation was little straight forward though the steps were exactly the same. I have put it on almost three weeks now and never experienced any drop connections between the camera and my phone.
Best part of Wansview is, you get cloud uploads without any subscriptions unlike other brands that I think is great.
I don’t have motion notifications on as it used to alert any possible movements in W4. With W6, it comes with zone selection. I have setup a zone and I see video recordings but haven’t switched on the notifications yet.
Picture quality is good. I have attached one photo from the day and other one from the night. Audio quality is also good. Our dog loves when she hears our voice over the camera :).
The camera is very well made and packaged, even including a drill template, fixings and a screwdriver. Installation was pretty simple although you have to think how to hide or stow the cable bundle carefully to prevent it all hanging down. I did this by simply tucking it through a hole I drilled up through the soffit in the eaves.
The camera connected to my WiFi with no issues, the instructions and app lead the way. I’d tested it inside first and when I reconnected outside it worked straight away. I found a good angle by viewing on my phone and tweaking the position until it was perfect.
I set up the motion detection, which has 5 levels of sensitivity, in the App’s settings and tested it out. It worked very well, and the option to select a portion of the view as the trigger or the whole scene worked well to prevent false detection from the movement of the plants in the wind. The picture quality is far better than I was expecting, colour during the day and good night vision grey scale at night. The app allows you to review movement captures and to save the files (video and stills) to your device. It also has the option to buy a cloud subscription or to add a memory card but I have not found a need yet. All in all I’m very impressed and will probably be adding more cameras to this one in the future.
This camera comes nicely boxed with all bits you could ever need including a screwdriver and LAN cable. Very slightly fiddly initial setup but probably only because my home network setup is complex. For a normal home user with a single router/wifi box it would be very straightforward, plug the camera in, download the app, scan the QR code and you’ll be away. If you’re using a mesh wifi setup be sure it connects to the right box – it will see them as separate SSIDs.
The pairing process is easy enough although I wasn’t sure it had succeeded at first as it didn’t return to my list of devices, but no big deal – click back in the app and you’re away. The phone app is actually really solid and has all the functionality you need – better than the D-link app. Buried in the ‘Local application’ menu is the ability to set a port and generate a live stream URL – this is brilliant and so useful for my setup (running iSpy backend to record all my streams).
Be aware, there’s no 5G support on the WiFi – I’m using this one with cable so not a problem anyway. I have found I get a lot of reflection of the night vision LEDs as I am currently running this camera inside, but that’s my setup’s fault, not the camera’s – I am awaiting installation of an outside power source to resolve this. The picture quality on the whole is as good as cameras costing twice as much or more.
This camera is really easy to set up, the app is self explanatory and I was able to start using it within about 10mins (set up indoors)
The camera is surprising good for night vision and the so is the picture quality. I couldn’t see how you can move the direction of where the camera is pointing by using the app, so bear that in mind. Also there are a few other cables attached with connectors that are not detachable. So if you are drilling through your wall for power supply you will need to make your hole bigger to accommodate these extra cables. I am getting some building works done so will get the electrician to look at putting it up outside.
I downloaded the camera’s app from the app store to my phone, and had the camera up and running in minutes. Very easy set up. The night vision is excellent and shows my driveway very well in the dark. The infra red LED’s around the lens also acts as a deterrent for thieves as they are quite visible in the dark, showing there is a camera watching them (see pics). The picture quality is very good, both in daylight and at night.
The camera takes a Micro SD card to record footage (which is installed into the camera via a removable plate on the cameras base). The screwdriver to remove this panel was, to my surprise, included in the box! I installed a micro sd into the camera, and set up in the settings to record to the memory card, you can set it to send alerts to your phone if there is any motion detected between certain times if you want. The app is simple to use, and the has plenty of settings to set it up to your preferences. I installed the camera via an ethernet cable from the camera to my router, but can also be set up to work using your router’s wifi.
Be aware that the camera plugs into a standard power socket to work, so consider this when deciding the camera’s position to ensure there is an electric socket nearby, inside your home/garage.
The camera is good quality and a reasonable price.
I bought this camera after buying the internal WiFi camera which I bought to monitor the dog when we are out and about and the house when we are all away. The Wansview Cloud app is really good, simple to use and the opportunity to add more cameras made me think about an outdoor camera to monitor the exterior of the house.
This camera came well packaged and includes the mounting bracket and WiFi aeriel, power supply and lead. Set up was easy using the app simply scanning the QR code with the camera and providing the WiFi password – I can now switch between my 2 cameras easily in the app. The picture quality is excellent in daylight and clear in night view but obviously with less definition. On the negative side the power supply lead is not very long so you will need a mains supply and socket near to your mounting position, a longer lead or an extension would have been ideal and given more flexibility for location options.
Overall I’m really pleased with the camera.
I must say that I was offered a cash-back incentive for leaving a review, but this has not impacted what I have said in the review which is an accurate reflection of my experience.
Love this camera, was able to set up within about a minute. Download the app and register (which I already had done), put your WiFi details in, scan the QR code with the camera, and you’re done. I especially love that it comes with all the things you need to install it properly – screwdriver, template for wall mounting, 2 sets of screws and plugs, and even 2 spare sets of screws for the SD card compartment – rare these days that you get anything for wall mounting, let alone spares as well. It very much feels like a premium product with all those extras, a bit like the Ring doorbell – you can buy cheaper, but you don’t get the bits and pieces that make all the difference. Picture quality is superb, but the best thing I find is the Wansview mobile app. It’s brilliant, you can set motion detection alerts and it’s so easy to do. I was struggling trying to link a Hive motion sensor with Alexa (when I found out you can’t really do it, despite Hive products now being Alexa compatible – they are, but only to a certain extent) but the Wansview app will alert you to movement and save a video to your mobile device (even without subscribing to the cloud feature, or putting a memory card in the camera). The only small downside I would say is that the included instructions don’t really mention the SD card option, or which way round it’s supposed to go, but I don’t think I need it – I’ve got motion detection set up to alert me and it will record via the app so it’s all good so far. Much better than the Sannce cameras I bought where all 4 of them failed and the company refused to honour the warranty … they said it was a ‘technical support’ warranty only… hmm … well happy with Wansview so far!!
Very easy to setup and add to the app. Very good quality and motion detection works well.
Came with all you need including mounting set.
Like that it has local storageand an rstp feed.
Wish the cable to the camera was removable so that you could fit through wall but understand that doing that would be a security flaw whereby an attacker could disconnect the camera. Not sure how to get past that one.
Overall pleased with purchase and simplicity of setup.
his has a great design to it and looks nice and compact, picture quality is great. With night vision I always think the picture is not as good as a darkened day vision.
For the price it would have been 5 stars if it wasn’t for the fact the cable to connect the ethernet and off button wasn’t a little short, that would give people with walls thicker than 9″ a bit of a headache (buy extension cable or whatever). In fact for an external camera I’d prefer the W5 model.
The wansview app is great at collating all my cameras on the smart phone
I have had several wansview cameras at this stage, all have been reliable and excellent value for money. This W6 version is again a very good purchase.
The camera is smaller than the W5 I have, which I like as it’s more discreet, yet the image quality is even better and the build quality is very good too.
Set up took 2 minutes and was trouble free. The app is quite good with motion detection working very well. I use the RTSP with a cloud recording service and it works flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Wow…. talk about quality for money, this has it all. This is my 5th camera as I already have the Q5, K5, W4, W5 and now the W6. The quality starts when you open the box, there is everything you will need from screws, screwdriver to a template for the screws. The camera itself is in a metal case and comes with all cables ( nice and long ) you will need. There is a slot for placing an SD memory card if you want which is a nice touch. So simple to connect to the app that I already use, took less than two minutes to have it up and running from out if the box. I cant recommend this camera enough and the support the guys give you if needed is top class also. Treat yourself to a quality bargain and get playing with CCTV at home…
I already have a security camera from this company and was offered this camera in return for an honest review.
Camera is small and non-intrusive but the quality is fantastic…The product is quality checked from within the company which is reassuring.
I chose to have this camera protecting my back garden and it was easy to install and connect to the wifi too. The set up and instructions are very easy to follow and if you have ( like me) had a camera from wansview already, you can have both or more cameras attached to the app.
I have this camera up and running within about 10 minutes.
I receive a notification on my phone if there is movement in the area and this gives me peace of mind for when I’m away from the house too.
I have the cloud storage and it is worth the money to have documented video in the event I need to use for anything untoward but hopefully this never happens!
I have no problems in recommending this great security camera for my own peace of mind.
I bought this Wansview W6 security camera for a specific purpose. To film the neighbourhood hedgehog… I have a couple of indoor Wansview cameras already and had thought of moving one to an outdoor position but was worried about making it waterproof. I spotted this outdoor W6 and ordered it instead. Setup is very straightforward (and doubly so if you already have other Wansview cameras and the app). Basically download the Wansview app, switch on the camera, wait for flashing lights, then add the camera in the app, it will display a QR code that you show to the camera and it gets all of it’s configuration from there. Picture is excellent as usual, for night and day. I have included a couple of pictures showing snapshots of the app showing my outside scenes. My app now has 3 cameras on it, and you can look at them all live on a grid view. You can subscribe to the Wansview Cloud service but I just used a 32GB micro SD and saved all the videos to that – only because I wasn’t using mine as a security camera, merely a wildlife camera. The cloud storage might be a good backup for a security setting. It does come with a wall mount and fixing screws etc for attaching to outside wall. I didn’t need this as mine will be moved to temporary positions for filming garden wildlife. In summation, this camera worked superbly and is easy to setup.
This camera was quick and easy to set up and connect to my home wifi. I have been using it to monitor the bottom of my garden where squirrels and foxes were coming in. The motion detection system is excellent and has given me some great videos both day and night. I can see the motion detected videos and a live view at all times on my android phone or on the PC. This is a good quality camera at a sensible price.
I recently purchased a Wansview camera for indoors to keep an eye over our new puppy. It was so easy to set up I thought I would give an outdoor camera a try. For the price I am so impressed with the quality of the camera, ease of installation and how easy it is to use the Wansview app.
I installed the camera onto our garage looking down the drive and I would say that, start to finish, the camera was installed and working in less than an hour. I had already installed the Wansview app for the existing camera so it was just a matter of adding a new device and now both cameras show side by side on my iPhone. I have also set up the motion alert feature that pops up a warning with a short video whenever the alert is triggered. You can adjust sensitivity and a time rage, very handy.
All in all this is a great camera, great value for money and you will not be disappointed.
I can record to SD card, cloud, and my app on the iPad allows me to record straight to the iPad, which is impressive, and exceptionally useful. The app is excellent, really easy to use, turn on off notifications, image rotation, speaker volume, really easy. It works very well with Alexa, image and sound quality as brilliant. Two way talk is good, only thing I can say against it is the volume of the speaker outside could be louder, that said, it’s still pretty good. Night vision is really very good too, see photos, very clear from my test position.
Basically, it’s a very good price, is very easy to use, works impressively well, and i’ll definately be buying more.
Highly recommended.
This camera is fantastic. Absolutely superb clear live feed, 2 way sound and motion sensor. The app is so easy to use, motion sensor is great for when you’re away or at work for extra peace of mind. Wide lens to fit in so much in the feed which is perfect. Great service and prompt delivery. This camera has such excellent features at a brilliant price, why pay more when this camera has everything you need! Extra bonus is it looks great too! Excelled expectation and so happy with it.
Top quality product. Already bought an indoor camera, that we use to keep an eye on the dog. Now we decided to get an outdoor camera as we need piece of mind as there have been a few break ins in and around our area. The quality is top notch, as displayed in the attached photo. Night vision kicks in immediately when the sun sets. Currently use it to keep an eye on the car but when away on holiday, we move it to the front door and are able to use the motion detection function and we also use the device to speak to whomever is at our door. Great product, so easy to set up and with both devices set up on the app, it takes seconds to check in on my home from me phone. Complete piece of mind.
It took under 2 mins to add it to my existing Wansview account for my internal (cat/mouse tracking) camera, and once it had an internal IP address I could add it to my iSpy home cctv where it totally outshone my existing 960p cameras. I forgot to attach the aerial before setting it up, and it still connected! No problems with wifi connection at the far end of the house. Very wide angle, very compact camera. Came complete with screwdriver and a small set of screws that I haven’t yet found a use for… No ethernet weather protection sleeve is the only markdown point I could find.
Disclaimer: I have been offered a refund discount to give a review, but as a result of my experience with it I will now be buying more of these to replace my existing cameras.
I was in the market for a quality outdoor webcam for the security for the front of the property.
After some research, the Wansview W6 looked quite compact and had some good reviews so I added it to my basket.
A Day later it arrived, (Thanks Amazon)
In the box you get a screwdriver, a metal mounting bracket, some mounting screws, a network cable, instruction booklet, Antenna, UK Power supply and the camera
The camera looks to be very robust /weather resilient in its black all metal case.
I grabbed my phone, downloaded the app and plugging it in to the mains to set it up for a quick test.
It was relatively easy to configure with the app (once you figure out how to create an account)
You put in your Wi-Fi details and point the camera at the resultant QR code and the camera tells you via verbal confirmation that its connected the app updates and voila you can click to connect to the camera.
Image quality is good and the sound is good quality for such a small speaker.
I can connect to the camera on 3/4G no problems (better than my Branded Doorbell!)
The options are comprehensive enough for what I need.
I am waiting for the weekend to install it in its permanent home, however first impressions it is a very competent piece of Tech.
Yet again , another great IP Camera from Wansview. The image is crystal clear daytime and has impressive night vision.
Easy installation , compact and solid build.
This is my third purchase from Wansview and yet again excellent service with fast delivery .
I highly recommend this IP Security Camera.
In addition to this I would like to give a massive thank you to Wansviews excellent Product Support team for their perseverance in helping me sort out a little problem I had with notification sounds , it was nothing to do with the cameras it was a setting in my phone which had been accidentally changed to silent.
Thank you Sudi and Cosette.
.
This is a great little camera for the price , and very easy to setup.
You can use an SD card so that you can store the videos and photos on the card itself rather than the paid-for Wansview Cloud storage, which you don’t have to use if you don’t want to.
The motion alert triggers the camera to take 12 second videos. These are stored on your SD card, but are deleted at midnight of each day and then the recording starts all over again for a new day.
If you wish you can download and save the videos to another location on the camera to prevent them from being deleted each day, or you can download and save them to your phone. You do not have to remove the SD card to do any of this. The SD card fits under the speaker panel at the bottom of the camera. The camera did not recognise the SD card immediately, but just leave it for 5 or 10 minutes and then the SD card gets recognised.
The videos are clear enough, not outstanding, but good enough to see what’s happening and who is about. It can also record sound as well as the video. You can add the camera to Alexa’s skills, and I can watch the ‘live’ feed on the screen of my Echo Show – I just have to say “Alexa, show Cam 1”, (or whatever you’ve called it), and it’s displayed on the screen. The Wi-Fi connection has been rock solid.
All in all, it’s a good little camera, I’m happy with it, and I would recommend it, in fact I think I might be buying another one for the rear of the house very soon.
This is my third Wansview camera (I have an existing indoor and outdoor camera). Set up and installation was extremely easy as expected. Picture quality is excellent, pretty much identical to the W5 model I already have. What sets this camera apart though is its size. It’s tiny – about half the size of the last model! To get such solid performance in a small package is pretty incredible.
As with other Wansview cameras, RTSP and ONVIF cam be enabled to allow you to integrate with an existing NVR or smart home system. which is a great feature. A lot of manufacturers at this price point tie you in to their ecosystem which can be a pain if you have multiple brands. The Wansview app is very good anyway and the alerts etc. all worked for me without a problem.
In summary, a great little camera for an amazing price. I have recommended to other family members.
Good quality camera, very easy to be paired with the phone. If you already have a power connection outside it will be very easy to install it as well. I mounted it under the roof so I it’s not under the rain but it seems ready for all kind of weather. The sd card is installed on the bottom, there is a little screwed cover so it should keep the water out. The app is very good (I have another camera of the same brand as well and it’s very easy to manage them), night vision is ok, don’t expect to see clear lines when you zoom in, but still good to keep things under control. For this price it’s all very good.
This is a good addition to the Wansview family of cameras I have. The app is simple to use and the set up simple too.
Picture quality is good and the sound too. I can use it like a Ring door bell telling couriers where to put packages etc. It’s small and less conspicuous than the W5 I have.
My only criticism are the 3 cables that end up being outside and a bit unsightly. The reset could be on the camera, and though it is wireless and wire network, I don’t see why you would go wired. It would be pure luck if your router was that close to the camera location (the 1.5 meter cat 5 cable included).
Arrived from amazon with a damaged box but no internal damage.
Comes with everything you need plus spare fixings and screws …good move.
Like Paul in these review also my 3rd wansview, having a w5 and q5 also …so already had the app working. So adding a new cam was straightforward (provided you enter your network password correctly.!!!). Couldnt use the qr code setup on my tablet since the full qr code was not displayed correctly on the tablet screen …had to do from my phone where it is displayed correctly.
Small and discrete the camera works fine in both day and night conditions.
Some curvature distortion on the view but that wont detract from its effective use.
Overall a reasonably priced camera, reasonable performance and good build quality, compared with my older (non wansview ) cams …easier to set up, easier to use, and of equal picture and audio quality.
I would get again ….but await a fully rotating 360 degree model from wansview
Don’t buy to work with Echo Show 5.
I have still given this camera 5 because the camera is fantastic for the price. But the stream to the Echo Show 5 is 10 seconds behind. Not good. This is a fault with the Show 5 though and not the camera, as the stream was spot on with the app on my iPhone. I contacted Wansview about the problem and they replied almost instantly. They said that this is a common problem with Alexa devices. If this is the case, then Amazon should not promote this camera to work with Alexa.
This is our 5th purchase from wansview , we have 4 internal cameras which we have been overly impressed with . This is our first external camera and we are more than pleased with this to , quick arrival very easy to setup up . Love how all the cameras work from the one app . Only problem we have is the wires are to noticable and cant be easily hid as we live in a rented property, but if you have the option to drill through then they maybe able to be concealed and hidden. We
Will definately be buying another to cover the front of our property . very pleased with it .
I already own a W4 camera from Wansview and been very pleased with it so got this new W6 and it is of the same build and picture quality with extra features.
It is a very similar size (nice and compact) camera.
The camera itself has a aluminium case so it is nice and strong
The power lead is approx 3m long and comes with everything you need.
Download the app plug the camera in and scan the QR code on the camera follow the onscreen instructions, the camera will connect to the app, altogether it takes about 5 minutes to set up.
There is a 2 way speaker on this so can be used at the front door and using the app you can talk to people at the door.
The SD card slot is located inside the camera, remove the 2 screws from the speaker cover and remove the panel (see the photo)
This marvellous little camera, which is the third Wansview camera that I have owned, certainly lives up to all the 5-star reviews that have been posted about it. It was delivered quickly within only four days of placement of the order. I was surprised by the combination of its diminutive size with its powerful features. Image quality in both day (colour) and night (monochrome) mode is superb. The still and moving pictures are crisp and clear and just the right combination of brightness and contrast.
As I already have an indoor model (the Wansview Baby Camera KS) in operation, which uses the same app, I decided to make installation of the outdoor W6 camera as simple as possible, so instead of downloading the app again as per the instructions, I simply “added” the W6 using the plus (+) sign at the top right hand corner of the screen. It worked without problems; but you must remember to hold the camera very still while its lens reads the QR code.
I now have both cameras installed on my iPad Mini rather than on an Android device, but I am sure I could install them additionally on Android if necessary. I travel a lot and can look round my house inside and outside wherever in the world I have access to a wifi connection to the Internet. This affords great peace of mind, although I also have a remote-signalling intruder alarm.
Both cameras have slots for a micro SD card, and if you insert one they will automatically record what they see whenever movement triggers them. The recording will last a little longer than the duration of the actual movement: I have not timed it yet. I have not needed to use the Cloud storage feature as I am at home much of the time and if any recording is triggered I will have the record on the SD card.
I set up the W6 in the first instance as an indoor camera, but later moved it outside. As long as you keep it within range of your router it will work perfectly. My wifi signal reaches outside close to about 60% of the house. Being elderly, I cannot use a ladder, so I will have to get a friend to place the camera high up on an outside wall when I finally decide on the best permanent outdoor position for it. If you keep it inside the house and point it out into the garden etc. through a window (which I tried first), it will view the scene perfectly in daylight, but at night there will be a reflection from the glass and the camera will not see what is outside: on the viewing device you will just see the red LED lights from the camera lens.
All in all, the W6 is an astonishing piece of technology, especially at such a reasonable price. Congratulations to Wansview for this little beauty, which I highly recommend to anybody who is security-conscious.
The package comes with everything that you need, including a network cable if you are going for a wired installation. The wifi setup is quick and easy, but I did have to take a screenshot with my phone of the app, and then put the QR code in front of the camera. Otherwise it didn’t recognize the QR code, but even then, the whole setup process took less than five minutes.
I’m quite surprised by the really high quality image of this little camera. It’s sharp, bright and looks good even through a window. Even though this is an outdoor camera, you could also use it indoors as well, for example pointing out through a window. The attached image of the cloudy sky was taken from the Wansview app, with the camera pointing through a fairly dirty window, but it’s still very clear. At this price you could pepper these all over your house for full coverage.
The first thing you notice is how small this camera is. It comes perfectly packaged in a white box and everything you need to get up and running is included. It even comes with a template for screwing it to the wall.
Set up is simple. Download the App, turn on the camera and click add in the App. A barcode appears on your phone. Hold it in front of the camera and it scans it, then tells you set up is complete. It takes 5 minutes.
The images and video are first class. I already have a wansview camera and this is even better. The quality is excellent both day and night time.
Motion detection is very good once you get it set up. It can be quite sensitive but works very well.
I currently have mine pointing through a window and the picture is still very good, with no noticeable red lights bouncing back at night time.
Overall this is a very impressive camera and I wouldn’t hesitate in getting another one
This camera I think it’s the best for its price. The quality is very good in my opinion and for under 40 you get sd card recording, cloud recording, two way audio, metal frame, night vision and much more. I was looking to buy a 4 piece surveillance kit which you cannot get under 200 however with this camera I can do a 5 piece surveillance kit, that for the same price.
I’d recommend and I can say that the quality overall is much higher compared to the price it has.
I have been a user of various Wansview camera’s for 5 years and tbh this version W6 is the best outside camera they have produced. The W6 is simplicity itself to set up, I had it up running and configured within 5 mins of opening the box. I put a 128GB micro SD in the camera, should give ample storage and the option to review recordings via the app is simple. Daylight and night vision image’s are crisp and detailed. I have it plugged up on ether which was so easy so I presume the same will be for WiFi. For the price the camera packs a punch well above its weight, construction is solid and if having versions before this reliability will not be an issue.
I really like this external IP camera.
It’s well made and well featured.
Very easy to set up and had a nice clear picture.
The sound isn’t tinny like some of these camera.
Instructions were clear although generic for several camera in their range and not specific to to W6.
I prefer this camera because it has an SD slot as well as a cloud storage option.
Have tried it at night yet but so far it has full marks for features at this price level.
They even provide a little screwdriver and a template for mounting the bracket along with wall plugs and screws.
The good:
*The image is brilliant. Bright sunlight, twilight or night, the picture is perfect. It’s one of five Wansview cameras I now have. They’re all excellent, but this, the W6 is the best of the lot.
*Compact.
*Easy to set up.
*Decent mounting hardware.
*Everything you need included in the box (Cat5 cable, Mounts, screws, aerial – oh and the camera!)
The not-so-good:
* I’ve not used the Wansview Cloud; I can only find pricing in US Dollars, not UK Pounds, and although $70/year for three camera/one week playback isn’t huge, it’s still quite a lot. When will these companies realise that by charging less for their cloud services, more people will subscribe?
* One thing to be wary of is that it will ONLY operate on 2.4G wifi band. So if you’ve a network that’s only operating on the 5G band, it won’t work.
*The Android app (“Wansview Cloud” interestingly enough) is good enough, but could be better.
Surprised to find this is a solid camera in a metal housing, the front looks to be well weather protected with some type of hard rubber seal.
Night vision is great, daytime even better and both easy to make out faces if needed.
Comes with internet cable but im using the WIFI option due to the location, also worth mentioning that its got a speaker on the camera so you can have a 2 way conversation or just use it to scare away intruders 🙂
The app works 100% of the time, been using the same app for a couple of years with my inside camera, notifications work as they should, unlike some other apps and cameras i’ve now stopped using due to the lack of notifications.
recommended camera for sure, I will be getting a couple more asap.
Although this device is suitable for outdoor use I am using it indoors in my (rather untidy) Garage to watch over my tools and motorbike.
I had it up and running in no time at all. The instructions were clear and concise to enable it to connect to a 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi connection (5.0Ghz not supported). I have a couple of other cameras from this company so I aware of the quality and great value for money. A great thing about the app is that I can see all three of my active Wansview security devices at the same time and select which one I want to view live. Not covered in the included instructions was how to install a micro SD card. There are 2 screws on the underside of the camera holding a little panel (speaker panel as it turns out!) so guessing, I carefully removed the 2 tiny screws and there was the SD card slot. While replacing the speaker panel be careful as
1. incorrect replacement may leave the device not waterproof and
2. the screws are tiny and non magnetic as I discovered after dropping and losing one.
This wasn’t an issue as 4 additional screws were included for fumblers like me!
I have had the W6 in continual use since I set it up and the night/low light IR mode is crystal clear and motion detection is spot on. i had to adjust the sensitivity a bit so that flies weren’t detected (It’s that sensitive!). There is a very neat scheduling facility so that my normal daytime trips to the garage were ignored.
The overall motion detection, clarity and quality of images suits me perfectly.
I am a fan!
front of the house is the W6 version and the rear the W4, as you can see both cameras have great night vision and are easy to install and link up with the friendly app, really happy with both cameras and will be adding another to the collection, the only thing i found was the lead is only about 2 meters so i needed a dc extender to fit but at only 8 i did not mind.
fast delivery, well packaged and good quality what more could you wont.
Great little camera. Have bought this camera to run alongside the W4 version that I previously bought. This is easier to set up as you now have a female voice coming from the speaker which tells you once you are connected. Before I had to keep checking in and out of the garage where it is situated, so a good improvement for set up. Picture quality is good even at night. Small neat camera , also a bonus that it runs alongside the W4 on the Wansview app. Would recommend.
I have two old K5 cameras and they have been brilliant. This one is definitely an upgrade. Looks very smart and stylish and stronger material than the previous ones. Camera is very user friendly to install and adjust because of the stand. Set up is fast and easy and the picture & video quality is amazing. The only thing i didn’t like is the power cable now comes with three different connections and it makes it a bit bulky (especiallyif you are wantingto hide the cable). But the othet connections might benefit some.
I already have the indoor camera so adding a second camera was very easy.
This camera was quick to connect to the WiFi and the picture quality is great.
I’ve got it mounted about 3m high pointed at my driveway.
The app provides a clear picture during the day and the night vision mode is excellent.
I don’t yet have an SD card or take the cloud storage. I’ve set the alerts so the app stores 10 second clips when the motion sensor is triggered.
In summary, a great quality camera for a very reasonable price, with a user friendly app.
This is my 3rd camera from Wansview and this is another great one. I’ve previously bought 2 W4 cameras and have them linked up via the cloud application.
This is my first W6 model and I am very impressed. Build quality is great and comes with all the fixings for attaching to the outside of the house. Comes packaged very well and is simple to build.
All you need to do is attach the stand, the wifi antenna and connect power to get it up and running. I would recommend switching it on and connecting to your wifi before attaching to the side of the house. It saves any hassle while on a ladder trying to connect up.
As you can see the image quality is good. As with my W4 models the night vision is great as well.
Camera looks good quality and feels better than expected. Well packaged and delivered next day (prime). Easy to set up and using it on wifi. You do get a RJ45 Lan connection but I wanted to use it on wifi like my other wansview cams. I would have liked to have been given a cover to put over the RJ45 end of cable. As this will be fitted outside shortly. They do supply a cover for the reset button but not the RJ45 plug. This might attract water or dirt so I will probably cover it with tape. The leads are a little big to put through a hole in the wall but you could put them into a connection box and run a power lead from that to an inside power source. The picture quality is very good and the night vision is acceptable. You need to download the wansview app and you can add a micro SD card up to 128gb or pay for the cloud service to save your video captured. All in all a good little camera for the price but could be improved a little.
Good camera… easy set up.
It would be good if Wansview gave a little more information with the camera.
For example you have to work out yourself that the micro sd card fits at the back of the camera after removing the 2 screws and plastic plate. The extra screws are in case you loose any during this operation….nice touch.
My first thought was… what are these screws for ?
Good also they give you a stick on the wall template to drill your holes for the fixing bracket…again nice touch.
I had problems with the camera dropping out…this was due to the fact I positioned the camera at the rear of my property a fair distance from my router.
This problem was overcome by my buying and fitting a WiFi booster near the Camera.
The camera works fine now and I’m happy.
This W6 camera complements the three internal Wansview Q5 cameras I already have.
Yes I would recommend this camera.
If you do encounter any problems an email to Wansview (address on the box) usually gets a quick response I found.
Steve B
Again another great camera I love this as I can add a memory card to record my own footage and keep a check on things. Again I can see it with my phone, echo show and 4K fire tv stick and via logging in to my Wansview app on my Apple phone image is great so is night vision. Five stars from me added to my other camera on the app in minutes.
Staff are excellent help what ever it may be for help setting up or looking at expanding my range as I just have thanks to all at Wansview happy customer hea
The W6 I found easy to install and set up; the picture quality and field of vision is great. The night vision is superb. The 2-way voice feature works well. The device is nice and compact and I have it and a W4 on cloud storage plan. Great peace of mind at a very reasonable price. What’s not to like?
Very happy user of two W4 cameras , found this W6 to be exactly what’s needed for the front porch with 2 way audio to check on callers before they ring the bell ! It also records nicely to micro SD card and I can confirm the whole network reconnects via the free app at once after a mains power outage .
Well worth a few pounds extra for the peace of mind it gives , also pleased with the night vision results and am thinking about adding an Alexa to streamline things further . Also thanks to Wansview who answer technical queries quickly and courteously .
Unreservedly recommended , have attached app screenshots from the W6 covering the porch and the W4 cameras in the back garden for three months .
Don’t have the camera mounted yet but what a great little camera! I love how small it is, but no compromise on quality. The picture quality is great, night vision and motion detection are fantastic. Really the perfect camera. It comes with a great length of power cable and love that it comes with an Ethernet cable to give you the option of hard wiring it rather than WiFi if you need to. It also comes with everything you need to wall mount it, even a little screwdriver!
Setup was easy, and I was I able to connect to the app online within minutes of opening the package. The clarity of image in light and dark is as you would expect from a device in this class. The instructions are basic and exclude accessing features like how to insert the micro SD card (under the small panel) . The bracket is not as robust and secure as some previous models like the W3 but is similar to many others on the market. Would be nice if Wansview could design a 2 piece lead that could be securely connected together as the lead into the camera is tiny but the fan out cable requires a very large hole to pass through any wall. The price point is very good and is would be easy to setup for non technical users.
I am really pleased with this camera. It is my 3rd from Wansview, but by 1st W6. Not the last either!
I love the seamless access through Alexa. The App I find perfect for out and about. And quick checks, especially when in bed.
I set it up quickly to test and as you can see in the photo the picture quality is fantastic.
This camera with the speaker and microphone will find its permanent home covering the front of the house and driveway.
For the price, ease of installation and ease of use this is an easy 5 Stars.
As you can see in the pictures, it comes with the standard items; The camera (of course) a power supply with a nice long cord, a mount made from metal that does not allow you to put the cables through, an ethernet cable, various mounting hardware and a screw driver. It also comes with a packet of small screws but I haven’t been able to figure what they are for yet.
The camera is set up the same way as the indoor cameras are. You download the Wansview cloud app (not the plane wansview app) install it on your phone, open an account (free if you don’t take the cloud storage option) Press the + sign in the app and follow the instructions. Point the phone camera at the QR code on the camera, enter your wifi password and it should connect. I did say should there. As it turned out, mine did not connect at that stage, but the on screen directions give you an option to do what they call a “Soft App” connection. All this is is it activates your camera on your phone and allows you to get the QR code. It takes about 10 seconds and you are up and running.
As you can see by the picture, the image is very good. The camera detects motion and will send you an alert and record a certain amount of video to the cloud or the optional sd card. Both are easy to use.
If you have any problems, support are very quick and helpful. I was surprised at just how well they did. Which brings me to the reason I contacted them. There is a wansview app for the phone and the PC. The phone one works well but the PC one has a problem with the image locking up once in a while. The had no answer (so far) for this but they did ask me for the password to my account so they could log in and try to help. I’m sure they will figure it out, at least I hope so because I need to use it on the PC.
Over all I have to say that this camera works very well and is well worth the money. I would give the camera 5 stars, the Phone software 5 stars and the PC software 3 stars. Support gets 5 stars.
I am already an owner of the W5 and was very impressed by the quality of it’s build and (some would say more importantly) the quality of it image.
The new W6 carries on that tradition. The two attached images really demonstrate that. The day time image is a difficult one to capture well due to such bright areas in some parts of the image and dark shadows in others. It still picks out the detail on the bird feeders as well as the detail of a potential intruder trying to break in the patio doors.
The night image just blows me away! The IR illuminators are really powerful to such an extent I have actually seen small slugs making their way to my brussels sprouts (speeded up to 100x though, I’m not that patient!).
Overall I highly recommend this camera and for such a low price too, how can you go wrong?
I have been looking for an outdoor camera and decided to give this a try as I have the Wansview indoor camera.
The camera arrives in a neatly packaged box with everything you need to get up and running.
Setup:
Following the instructions setup was very simple. Instal the app, link the camera and you are good to go.
Installation:
The Camera is WiFi enable so you will need to install within range of your WiFi signal. The other thing you need to be aware of is the power cable is not exceptionally long. This will mean you will need to instal it in close proximity to a socket or purchase a longer cable.
Usage:
With the app installed you are able to use live view to view the camera and you can zoom in although this does not offer a great level of detail.
You are able to view over WiFi or when you are out and about over cellular data (I had to change setting on my Vodafone Securenet to allow access).
Audio:
There is two way audio on the device. Audio is quite clear when viewing through the app
Motion detection:
The camera can be set up to alert for motion detection and you can change the sensitivity and action area within the app. When motion trigger you get an alert and video is viable on your mobile (there is also an option for a memory card in camera for these captures) – The videos from alerts are viewable for 2 days after this you Will need to subscribe to the cloud storage to view.
The only issue I have found is that the camera was constantly set off by minimal movement also on lowest setting (heavy rain was setting it off). This is something to consider when planning the location – anything that blows in the wind is likely to set off the alert
Night vision:
Night vision is quite clear and offers a good picture.
Overall for the price this offers an affordable option for keeping an eye on your property.
Consideration will need to be given to placement and length of power lead etc.
It works seamlessly with the Wansview app which was a big positive for me as I don’t need to have multiple apps for different cameras.
Pros:
Affordable
Easy to install and use
Works well with existing Wansview app/cameras
Clear picture and audio
Good night vision
Cons:
Power cable is not very long
Motion detection is very sensitive even on the lowest level
What an amazing little security camera, I had all ready purchased the wansview Q5 indoor cam and was so impressed I thought I would try the W6. Right from opening the box wansview seem to think of everything you need there’s mounting screws, screwdriver and a template to get you putting it on the wall and mounting brackets. The unit can be used on WiFi or wansview inc a long Cable to plug direct into your router. There is a couple of ways to set up the camera but I find the easiest is to use the app, you download the app power on your camera input your WiFi password and the app produces a QR code on your phone which you show to the camera the camera then talks to you as it’s sets it’s up and advises you when it’s ready to go the whole process took no more the 2 mins. I have installed a micro sd card into my cam but you could always use the cloud for storage. Ok so what’s the picture like …. Brilliant 1080p great colours sharp image and no loss of quality in the rain, night mode is really clear to it will pick up on motion detection a good 30 feet down my driveway giving a good clear image of what’s happing. One of the best features I found is the ability for it to link to Amazon Alexa , I use Amazon show which has a 6 in screen and all I have to say is Alexa show me front door cam and it will show me what’s going on I can also talk to who ever is there and hear them to. Another bonus is wansview inc a lifetime warranty. I wrote this review as I had people asking me what the cams were like and I wanted to give an honest review of the two I had bought and to be honest I can’t fault them and would definitely recommend them to anyone wanting a bit of peace of mind about who’s at there door or Q5 which we use as a pet cam to keep an eye on the dogs
Well done wansview
Very good.
Image quality (including night vision)
Some photos or the un boxing as I found this quite clear.
One caveat is the included screwdriver… Which is too big to open the sd card compartiment..
Great point for me : integration of rtsp, so I can include this camera with the others on motioneyeos (or even just use vlc to read the stream)
I could tell straight away that this was a quality product. The quality control stickers felt reassuring and I can’t believe the actual size of the small indoor/outdoor camera.
The quality of parts is brilliant, the feel of the metal of the camera feels solid and great quality. I am very impressed straight away.
The set up and instructions are very easy to follow and if you have ( like me) had a camera from wansview already, you can have both or more cameras attached to the app.
It took me about 10 minutes to get this fantastic little camera, up and running.
As you can see from the pictures I am really impressed with this camera, it jumps from daylight to night vision perfectly, the quality of the picture is great, in both views.
The instructions are pretty clear and as long as you have a proper WiFi connection it does the whole process for you. Just press the ( + ) camera button on the app and follow the instructions. Very easy. The sound, is very clear and you can communicate straight from the camera to whoever is on that end from your phone.
Great if your away and you notice from the push notification on your phone there is movement in the area.
I have used this for keeping my house safe when I’m not home. No need to worry about capturing footage of anything as it’s saved directly to the cloud ( take the cloud storage option) it’s worth every penny for your home security. ( You have documented video )
I’m so pleased with this security camera and I’m stunned that I got this for the price.
I have no problems in recommending this great security camera and I feel safe and secure knowing when I’m out, its keeping my home safe.
A third addition to my Wansview set-up. For the price, I am very pleased indeed. It does what I ask it to, and what I need it to do. And that’s it.
The night vision is just as good if not better than the indoor cameras (which is excellent), as is the motion detection.
The design and look of the item is very nice and looks high end. I like that it is black metal, as opposed to white plastic, I can tell that this is going to last.
Would certainly be interested in purchasing more Wansview products! Would definitely recommend 5*
This is a fantastic camera and appears to be excellent quality so far.
The delivery was extremely fast and nicely packaged with everything wrapped separately in the box for protection. There is also everything you need to set it up including a screw driver and extra screws.
The setup is very easy. I already have an indoor camera so I did not need to download the app and adding this one was a breeze.
The place I have chosen for my setup may have to change slightly as I seem to have a very active spider who activates the motion constantly whilst making his web. This is happening on the low sensitivity option so I think it’s best away from this corner.
The picture quality is excellent both day abs night and I am also able to zoom down the garden. I am hoping to spot some wildlife too as I am sure the motion will pick this up once I move the position.
I would give this camera 10/10. It is very well built, a great size, and fantastic quality.
Highly recommend and I will certainly continue to buy from this range and company. Very happy customer.
Amazing camera excellent quality and even includes screws and screwdriver to fit. The camera field of vision is great and the night vision is exceptional . Wansview are a great company I now have bought 7 products from them and customer service is awesome. I would totally recommend buying there products, so much so alot of my friends and family have bought from this company and amazing value for money and so easy to fit.
When Wansview introduced a weatherproof camera I thought it would compliment my 3 interior camera’s – Now I believe my property is simply covered via a high quality system which achieves a price-point that is kind on my pocket. The package arrives like other cameras in the range with no excess plastic used, which is good to see – I drilled a simple 10mm hole placed the cable for power, secured the cable with silicon gel, used the wall plate as a template marked the screw holes – drilled the holes added the raw plugs and then secured the entire system. I now have a camera looking down infront of my home. It took about 20 minutes to complete the job and I am happy with not only the quality but also the look – the black casing contributes to its low profile and unless you know it does not draw attention to its use. Thanks again Wansview
I already have a Wansview indoor camera, so purchased this to go outside.
The camera comes with all you need to mount outside, including a template sticker so you can easily make your screw holes before mounting the actual unit.
The camera is quite small, but has a robust metal frame. There is a MicroSD slot below the unit which involved unscrewing the speaker mounting from the main unit. A screwdriver is also provided to do this task. My word of advice is to do this carefully, as the screws are tiny so could be easy to lose.
Once you have the app installed, the unit is really easy to set up. There are 3 setup methods. 1. Scan QR Code (The camera is the scanner, and the QR code is produced on your phone), 2. Connect to the Camera’s via wifi or, 3. Connect directly via the cable (Ethernet) connection. I only tried 1 which was super easy. I pointed my phone at the camera, and the camera than spoke to me telling me all was good.
The picture quality is excellent, which is what I have come to expect from Wansview, and you can setup motion alerts, recording to MicroSD card or even subscribe to have footage uploaded to the Wansview Cloud for a small charge.
The phone app allows you to Activate the ONVIF and RTSP functions of the camera. This is the only part of the whole setup that seems temperamental, as the ONVIF seems to temperamental.
Another great feature is it works with Alexa. I have an Alexa show in my bedroom, and I can ask it to view the camera. Love this.
The first thing that struck me is how small it is, very compact. As with the W5 I bought previously for a business premises, pretty much everything is supplied. There are two sets of mounting screws and wall-plugs, a screwdriver, network cable (if not using the Wi-Fi capability) and a drilling template sticker. The supplied power adapter is considerably endowed with over 3 metres of cable, widening the mounting position choices.
Picture quality from the 2MP sensor and lens seems adequate, no better than the other two that I have, but certainly no worse.
as with the previous two, setup was a breeze, within two minutes of powering it up and using the connection assistant in the app, it was connected and running.
It has an image flip option, so can be mounted either way up and the two-way audio is very clear, actually sounding better than the Q5 and W5. Images can be stored on an internal micro-sd card (not-supplied) and/or subscribing to their “cloud” service. I have both.
In summary, this is a great little camera for the money, let down only by the exposed cabling.
I put a 32Gb SD card into my camera so that I could store the videos and photos on the card itself rather than the paid-for Wansview Cloud storage, which you don’t have to use if you don’t want to.
I bought the Wansview Outdoor W6 camera to complement my two Wansview Q5 cameras. This now enables me, using the App, to see all my cameras on one screen, even the one we have installed in our Apt in Spain.
The quality of the build and ease of installation is fantastic. The new W6 on my porch allows me not only to see ( day or night ) who has entered my property but also allows me to speak to them in a two way conversation.
With great picture quality, a stable App and a very affordable price, I have no issue in recommending this product.
Now, where will I install my next one ?
Considering the camera is over half the price of some other brands, it is a great camera and performs just as good if not better. I have a couple of Ring stick up cameras, which cost over twice the price and the picture from this camera is just as good. The live view is brilliant, it loads in a couple of seconds, sometimes even instantly. My Ring camera’s take much longer to load up the live view and sometimes don’t load up at all. Set up was very quick and very easy, it took less then 5 minutes.
Arrived this afternoon and it was set up in less than 15 minutes. I already have the W4 so this W6 (with sound) compliments my cctv system just great.
The budget camera does a great job for both security and and garden wildlife!
I subscribe for about 6 a month for the cloud service so get the full 1minute downloads as opposed to the 12 second file if you don’t subscribe.
For this money it’s a great camera!
If I had one nag about it…. Moths! They love the Night Vision light and I get a lot of “Moth Triggers”!
Thought I would upgrade my outdoor security camera. Nothing wrong with the old one but I felt I needed something with a wider viewing angle. As I already own a couple of Wansview cameras choosing the W6 version was an easy choice.
It was delivered next day so I was able to switch the cameras over when the weather permitted.
As I was replacing an existing camera I already had a waterproof junction box to mount the camera and to hide the fly leads. The mounting bracket used the same 3 holes but where the old camera fed the cables through the middle of the base the W6 doesn’t have this facility so I had to drill another hole to feed the cables into the box.
Easy enough though.
Setting the camera up to the app was easy. Follow the instructions supplied and you can’t go wrong.
I did this prior to climbing the ladder just to be on the safe side.
Setting the viewing angle was easy too. One screw holds the camera in place on a ball joint, so you can adjust the angle of tilt you require.
Using the camera is also easy via the app. I subscribe to their cloud service so I am able to not just view live video but also view recordings should the camera detect motion.
The added features with sound and microphone may come in handy? I’m sure it could be used like a cheap Ring Doorbell if you set up the alerts
All in all not a bad little camera. As I have said I’m replacing another camera for a better coverage. As you can see in the picture it nicely shows I need to clean the roof of my caravan lol. But it also shows my van parked in the close, should it receive any unwanted attention.
The old camera will be repositioned round the back of the house giving me extra viewing security.
I would recommend this and other Wansview cameras to anyone thinking of purchasing
The W6 is my 7th wansview camera I’ve purchased and it lives up to my expectations, easy setup and installation. If you don’t want to drill a large hole for the 3 cables just fit a junction box outside coil them in there and just route the power cable through the wall using a 10mm drill.
Only criticism is you can only have up to 4 cameras visible in the multi view window. An update to allow more visible at once would be good but not essential. Overall though highly recommended.
Excellent bit of hardware. I have installed the previous model (W5) at dozens of properties. Spec wise, they match competitors which are 2-5x more expensive. The new W6 packs all that same hardware into a camera 1/3 the size, and in black! Perfect for customers who want a camera that’s a bit more discrete. A lot of the comments mentioned that there was no HTTP interface to connect to. If you have a basic working knowledge of ONVIF, then you should need the HTTP interface if you are hooking it up to a 3rd party system. For any home user however- its very simple to setup, and very simple to use. I would recommend getting an SD Card for it, but that’s up to you.
Looks great, works great, good picture quality.
Set up was a doddle, used the qr code and the fact that it talks to you when going through the process is great.
Only downside for me was that it is missing the piece that seals the ethernet port. My other camera came with one and this didn’t.
The good thing is you can have 3 camera for cloud on basic camera so this is costing me no extra.
Ordered this outdoor camera late yesterday. It arrived before 9:30am the next day. Not a problem setting it up. It was up and running within ten minutes. I have it running through the easy to use app and also via the added protocol RTSP that is hooked up to my nas for continuous recording. Although you can pop a memory card into the camera if you dont have a nas. The build quality is good and I’ve added it to my other wansview camera that watches my 3d printer.
Great quality. Great picture quality and nice and compact.
You will not be disappointed.
This new camera from Wansview is great, everything you need to connect and mount comes in box.
Camera is of great quality in metal case, memory card slot is protected from water as sealing under lead makes it water resistant.
Video stream is 1080p full HD and it is of good quality.
night mode switch automatically on low loght and turn on IR LED
There is also build in MIC and SPEAKER so u have option for 2 way audio if you need it.
This camera is definitely recommended as price to quality is very good.
Will definitely need to get few more of this camera.
I wanted a camera to fix to the garage and view the whole back of house. It fasces North and so gets a lot of weather. The metal case of this inspired confidence so I looked for water ingress points and couldnt find any. Its very compact and easily fitted under the guttering very unobtrusively. Fitting is a doddle, just power and connect to WiFi, it tells you when its connected. My garage is a good 30 ft from the house and it had no probs at all. Its a good wide angle of view and covers half my neighbours place as well. Picture is sharp and clear and night IR is remarkable. Takes an SD card and connects to Alexa show and phone app. All in all a damn good camera for the money, can honestly recommend.
I have purchased a few different Wansview products in the past and have always been impressed with the performance of their camera equipment and they also represent excellent value for money. I can certainly say there is no difference with this W6 camera that I bought.
The product is easy to install and the clarity of the picture during day and night is very strong indeed. The feature of the 2-way audio is also a nice touch and I find the build is solid and I have already seen that the performance of the W6 stand up to rainy and windy conditions. Again another fantastic camera from Wansview and an affordable price.
I have purchased this security cam to check my flat when I’m abroad and it’s a very good product for a very cheap price. The quality of the video image is high and crystal clear, the camera is easy to install, it will take you less than a minute.
I use it for both indoor and outdoor, there is an infrared sensor when it’s dark and a movement detecting sensor which would be useful if you are pointing the camera towards your car in your garage.
Wansview is a great brand!
This smart, robust camera achieves all it sets out to, with surprisingly good video (including night vision) and audio quality, representing incredible value. Easily installed, with options of storage via cloud and a small monthly fee, or using SD card, the camera runs on mains electricity, connects to wifi via your hub, and is controlled using the app, which you seemlesly download to your smart phone/iphone. Set-up and installation is an easy step-by-step walk through on the app and takes only a few minutes. The perfect solution for outdoor security at budget prices.
This is my 3rd Wansview camera. I have one indoor and one outdoor and they just work perfectly. The outdoor W5 works so well that when i saw the W6 in black i just had to get it. Will be using this in the garage/home office, have tried the camera and setup was easy and have added it to existing setup (which was very simple). I am yet to fully drill and install into the garage. I love the drill template, such a simple thing that make life so much easier when drilling. All in all 5/5.
I got this camera to go with another outdoor Wansview camera that I have elsewhere on my property.
Pros:
– Really simple to set up – took less than a minute to connect to WiFi.
– Picture quality is excellent.
– You can set it to auto switch to night vision, which is great.
– You can set the camera to pick up movement 24/7 or set times through certain days.
– You can specify an area that you want motion detection to focus on (so if your camera picks up your garden and drive way, you might want to just have motion detected near your drive and not the rest of the garden).
– Nice long power cable.
– Great value for money.
– Can subscribe to cloud or use SD card.
– The app is really simple to use!
– 2 way microphone is brilliant.
Cons
– Fixings supplied are too short / flimsy for most outdoor walls. Need to buy better ones.
– If the camera is easy to reach from outside, it’s not difficult at all to remove it from the attachment and then cut the cable so make sure it’s installed at a height that can’t be easily reached.
– The cable that you need to put through the wall is not going to be long enough for everyone. We have a 9 inch thick wall (wall and then cavity) where we want to install the camera and the cable won’t go all the way through it properly so we can connect the power inside the property. The other Wansview camera we have is the same but our wall was much thinner as no cavity in that particular room so wasn’t an issue.
Overall, this is a brilliant camera for the price. We’re going to install it inside temporarily, facing out the window whilst we figure out a way to fix it outside another room that faces where we want it to as it still gives us the security that we need.
The photos I’ve included are showing what you get in the box and the view from outside our window on a dull, grey afternoon.
I’ve given it 4 out of 5 as the cable that comes out of the camera with the power port / reset button and RJ45 port would be better if it was quite a bit longer.
I have bought 3 of these from Wansview cameras over the last year and found them to be very reliable, I have even used one of them for a break in that was reported to the police and submitted it as evidence!
I have since installed the latest W6 which is much improved giving all the benefits of the previous models but now has microphone and speaker plus waterproof enclosure. The setup is much improved with clear audio to help you understand that the system is working. The feel of quality and engineering is excellent and certainly for the price is very good.
I have purchased Wansview products in the past. An internal camera to monitor my cats comings and goings and an outdoor one to view my rear garden/house. I was looking for an additional external one to monitor the front of my property with the capability of x2 way audio.
With the W6 this ticks all the boxes 100% , the video day and night is crystal clear and the audio likewise just what I ned to challenge strangers at my front door !
The quality of the product is excellent as I have come to expect from Wansview. The camera is a sturdy die cast aluminium. It comes complete with fixing screws, template for holes so really easy. Camera set-up is intuitive and uses QR codes to ease the process, I had mine mounted and working within minutes.
Camera added to the Wansview App so now I have great view of multiple monitors
Another great produc
The instructions are very straight forward. Download the Wansview Cloud app and register. Then add a new device. The rest is self explanatory with voice and screen prompts to pair the device. You can add a name to the camera. You can choose to save the historical recordings on SD(up to 128mb) or in the wansview cloud for a week. These recordings are very easy to view. The motion detection sensitivity is adjustable. Speaker & mike on board so two-way talk possible. You can also easily share the the camera view with others.
Overall, a very small, unobtrusive camera that packs a lot of practical features with a great picture and ease of use. At night it switches to B&W view with the built-in Infra-red lighting. I’ll get another one of these for my front garden to keep an eye on my car in the drive
