Which size do I need?
Yale Nightlatches come in two different backset sizes that fit different door types.
Make sure you measure the door before you purchase one. The backset on a night latch is the distance from the centre of the keyhole to the edge of your door.

Excellent quality
Need to replace my front door lock. Different spacing and didn’t have time to redrill the door for mounting so removed the barrel and swapped over. Great fit and nice new key.

Find a good locksmith if you need spare keys
A virtual replacement for my old lock, easy to fit. Had trouble getting spare keys cut. First locksmith cut 2 sets which did not fit. Second locksmith couldn’t get the correct blanks. Third locksmith knew about the special Yale patented blanks, had them in stock and they fitted fine.

I went for the Yale quality brand. Came with 2 keys but we needed more. Bit of a shocker at Timpsons that these are “new types of Yale” costing 12 for one or 18 for 2!!! So nearly doubled the cost just getting keys.

Does what you need it to. My old lock just up and decided not to work. Grabbed this and was able to keep the old barrel, so no need to get new keys. Just screwed in the main section and that was me really. Pretty easy. The lock is solid, smooth and reliable. Can’t really beat a Yale.

Nice replaceme
It was just the right thing to replace an old lock. Every screw hole lined up with each other and I didn’t have to make any alterations to the door. Well done Yale .
Decent replaceme
Ordered this on a open box deal from Amazon which saved a couple of quid on the regular selling price. It was pretty easy to fit and came with instructions. Within 20 minutes i had the old one replaced with the new. Seems very sturdy and should last for many years to come.

I was beginning to believe that I would never find a replacement for the surface mount Yale locks that my Father-in-Law installed 50 years ago in the circa 1896 house in which we now live. These locks are drop-in/”plug-and-play” models. Even the screw holes line up! I was also able to re-use the original surface-mount strike. So glad I found these. They are not inexpensive, but they are perfect.

There isn’t much to say. This is a ayale lock and it works. It’s easy to install. We used it as a replacement for an old lock and it was straight forward enough to do.
A great product, if your door frames a normal size
Unfortunately my door frame was not large enough to attach the smaller part of the lock onto. However the product itself arrived in a timely manner and appeared to be of very good quality.

Who knew fitting a lock was so easy, in fairness I was replacing an old lock but even if I wasn’t with the right size drill bit this would be a doddle to fit. The build quality and finish of this lock is very good for such a reasonable price.

I adapted it for an outward-opening door, simply by opening it up and reversing the innards (though the instructions with it say this is not possible). Needed an extra long strike plate (purchased separately) to complete the lock as the “socket” provided can’t be fitted to work on an outward-opening door.

I bought this to replace an existing lock which has a loose snib (which would lock if the door was closed too hard and potentially lock me out), so I only only required the main part of the lock, not the actual lock or key (since I was not wanting to actually change the lock). The unit was a perfect replacement and worked as hoped (the snip is nice and tight and will not accidentally fall).

Excellent Yale quality and a robust lock. Comes with easy to understand instructions and quickly fitted. The keys are bigger than normal but no issues.
Sadly doesn’t come with a door pull which is a shame, but these are only a few quid.

It is a simple straightforward lock. I have replaced a similar lock on my garage door and I do not expect to have anything but excellent service from it. I have had 50 years service from two top of the range Yale locks and they do not owe me anything.

I bought this for my full scale TARDIS replica. It works and looks great. My only complaint is Yale has changed over to T-shaped keys and not the round topped ones shown in the photo. So now I have to find a round topped key blank. So if you are using this for your TARDIS build and want the round keys, be aware that YAle is shipping these with the T-shaped keys.
