Bought as a gift for my husband, he was very pleased. Beautiful high quality set. Arrived promptly and very well packaged.
Bought as birthday gift for hubby. Intrigued to learn the game now. Lovely board and has protective felt cover. The bamboo pots are bigger than expected. The stones are acrylic and not as much weight as expected. For a first set it is reasonable. Although you get a carry bag for the pots, the board is quite heavy and not as easily portable.
A lovely table game that feels and looks awesome. Easy game to play but lots of scope to grow into a top class player.

It looks really nice. Too big to travel with it. I’ll see over time if it’ll be as good as it is today. Then, I might just buy another one.
I cannot rate the entertainment value of this game as it was a gift for my son. The packaging and quality of the materials however, was outstanding! Not really a good fit for travelling though.
Really good quality board, the containers for the stones have nice straps, board itself has protective fabric cover and bag for containers is a nice addition.
The reverse side of the board has a 13×13 go board for faster/easier games.
Would highly recommend!

From what I gather this is the low end or budget area for high quality Go boards. As someone that’s not playing everyday and it’s hard to get an opponent I love this. The craftsman ship for what you’re getting blows me away and it feels like an occasion when you unpack it. Such attention to detail in everything. Massive recommend.
It’s elegant and sleek, but the board is slightly warped.
Pretty happy with this purchase. well packed great bowls and pieces. Best choise if you are looking for a budget Go set, the slate and clam shells are much more money.
This is an INCREDIBLE go set. I haven’t included pictures in this review because what you see above was 100% what I received. Also, the packing it came it was the best I’ve ever seen in an Amazon order. It was all high density foam with specific cutouts for every piece.
The board looks awesome. The bowls look awesome. The carry bag for the bowls and the felt sleeve for the board are quality.
I cannot recommend this product enough.
The wood (bamboo?) stone bowls are well-made and match the board. The set includes a small duffel for the stone bowls, and a snug felt case for the board.
This is probably the best value for money in Go boards, period. The set is appealing and comfortable. The stones are cheap but perfectly functional. I am happy with the stones, but you could easily upgrade to more expensive stones later and continue to use the board and bowls. Even if you are only interested in the board and bowls, this set remains a pretty good value.

This is my second goban from Yellow Mountain Imports and it is AMAZING! The etching was perfect, the bamboo was sealed super evenly, and the stones felt wonderful to hold and place. Everything down to the board cover and carry case for the stones was HIGH quality. I already want to buy another goban for a different application from these people. WORTH EVERY PENNY!
It’s a good quality board and pieces. It’s pricey, but there are not really other options for go boards.
Bought this for my son who wanted to learn how to play Go and he couldn’t be happier. We love the quality of the board and the pieces. The containers for the pieces, the velcro straps for the containers and the case for the board add up to great value. It seemed pricey but we’re happy we got this, instead of a cheaper set.

It’s the second Go board I ordered from Yellow Mountain Imports (first one was magnetic for travel) and, again, it’s better than I expected.
When it comes to board games, I want quality/rugged material and I don’t mind paying a little bit more for it. It generally feels better to play and last longer.
I wasn’t expecting much from this deal considering the relatively low price compared to other Go boards I was looking at online (in the $400-$500 price range). For the $100-$150 price range this feels like a steal. Sure, you’re not getting “Yunzi” or “Shell” stones (those are pricey) but most people wouldn’t know the difference or care either way.
If you are in the market for a Go board then this is a good one for the price.
The board is a really good quality bamboo board, nice colour. And I like the inclusion of the felt cover for the board as well to keep it from getting dinged or scratched when put away.
The layering of the bamboo means its not as clean as a good quality shin kaya or kaya board, but for the price it was way better than I was expecting.
The bowls are gorgeous and while the stones are melamine they have a good feel to them and are a very nice size.
Overall I am well impressed with this board and would recommend it as a fantastic entry point into the game.

Very nice quality. The board is nicely done and contrary to a previous review, the grids ARE grooved and painted. The stones are good size and nice weight. Bowls for stones come with straps to hold top on when in carrying case. Can’t wait to play a game.
