A Keyboard that really feels like a Piano
Excellent for a beginner. The configuration of this electronic piano allows beginners to easily switch from using a classical piano to that of the keyboard. I recommend it to those who are now taking piano lessons and want to repeat at home the scores learned in the course. Every bit as heavy as advertised. Nonetheless still portable. I have mine in a fixed location. The sound quality is just a little less than I had expected but still very acceptable for a beginning student like myself. I would definitely say this is a great alternative to a full 88 keyboard if you don’t have the space.

I really did like this keyboard, the size was really good and had multiple funtions. Unfortunately I had to return this for personal reasons but would totally recommend this product to anyone looking for a quality sized keyboard.
Alesis has a long history and a great reputation for sound quality and mechanical action. This Recital 61 deserves its name. Lots of stops, lots of ways to connect, midi compatible, great music stand. Industry standard interfaces. We use it at home for pleasure, but I think it would work well for a small band or a teaching application too.

This keyboard is well built and robust with nice sound (comparable to a piano) and is large enough to play almost any beginner song. The keyboard is useful for not only beginners but also intermediates as it has a plug in for a pedal and controls such as reverb. Great price for what you get and would highly recommend for any user especially beginners.

This instrument seems to be good value for money, it certainly plays better than similar instruments at around the same price, from other makes.As it was purchased as a gift I would need to wait for comments from the recipient.

Pour le casque, le trou est gros, ce sont les casques pour la TV avec le gros adaptateur qu’il faut avoir.
Sinon apart a, rien signaler, on verra dans le temps si je dois modifier mon commentaire.

Piano its self is good for the money paid. The keys have some weight to them and sounds alright. Unfortunatley mine didnt cinnect to any of my 3 PC’s through midi connection. The piano doesn’t have a record feature which was important for me, but i hoped to record it on my pc. Also if you can conect to pc you would have a lot more sounds other then the 7 built in. But if midi doesnt work the value of it plumets.
Amazing keyboard for the price. The keys are satisfactory, the sound is quite good for a keyboard at this price, build quality feeling very solid, and the midi works as expected. Haven’t used the metronome as I have other devices for that., as such I can provide no feedback on how well it functions. All in all for a $200 keyboard it is a great buy. I will definitely consider this brand for future purchases.

The only thing i don’t like is how to change the metronome tempo etc. Its not straight forward enough, but an extremely minor criticism.

I am so happy with this purchase and glad I didn’t spend more money on something expensive. This fits the bill for us. I have a son going to school of the arts for music, in the percussion section and he wanted a keyboard to play on. Helps his mallet work. I also like to sit and learn a song. We are beginners on keyboard. The keys are pretty good. Not weighted like the expensive models but semi weighted and decent. The sound is fine. Nothing wrong with it. I like that it has simple features and not a bunch of sound effects that sound horrible anyway. What it does have is quite enough and fun to use. I got the white version. Just love it. It looks so good. I have a house that is white walls, light grey sectional, mango wood so I didn’t want it to be an eyesore.
I got the 55$ stand that is recommended and it’s strong and does the job. Love that the height is adjustable. Great purchase without big investment and commitment.

Das Keyboard war sicher verpackt und kam dementsprechend heil an. Ich bin kein Profi aber ich finde den Klang sehr gut, auch ist die Lautstrke optimal. Zumal man diese auch regulieren kann und somit auch Abends in der Wohnung spielen kann, ohne die Nachbarn zu stren. Die einzelnen Tasten fhlen sich wie bei einem echten Klavier an. Ich habe, als Anfngerin, groe Freude darauf zu spielen.
Despus de 2 aos de uso, lo considero un excelente excelente excelente piano.
En estos dos aos no ha fallado nada, las teclas funcionan muy bien, las bocinas como el primer dia, cables, entradas, botones, etc, todo bien.
Dejo anotaciones para ayudarles a decidir mejor.
Detalles que he encontrado con respecto a un piano real y Vs un teclado Casio privia:
– El peso de las teclas es el que se indica en la descripcin. Tiene un mecanismo de resorte y no el efecto (o maquinaria) tipo martillo (que se usa en un piano original). Si bien no es malo ni molesto, es una caracteristica para personas exigentes. Se siente que son teclas mas ligeras pero no chafitas ni que se vayan a romper. Es justo el peso de la descripcin.
– La configuracin de la sensibilidad de teclas no me agrada del todo. Tiene 3 configuraciones y parece que las 3 son las mismas. Se nota cuando segn tu tocas “quedito” y al mismo tiempo intentas tocar fuerte otras teclas. Se nota mas con las teclas agudas… Aunque toques muy fuerte, no la tecla no da ms volumen y no se distingue de otras teclas como el Casio privia.
– Cuando se usa el pedal, tocas (pisando el pedal) y dejas de tocar, se escucha un ligero siseo… Lo cual creo que es normal por las caractersticas (polifonia o voces o eso)
En resumen, por el precio estoy extremadamente satisfecho. Y mis opiniones son muy crticas dado que tengo punto de comparacin, a pesar de no ser experto.
Pero considero que hice una excelente compra y estoy muy contento.

Recently bought to try to learn the piano as a young adult (20), enjoying the experience so far and couldn’t have asked for a better keyboard for it. Excellent purchase, with a fast delivery there was a massive gash in the box it came in so the courier need to be careful especially as there is a massive sign meaning handle with care.
Fortunatly and credit to Alesis, the electric piano is working well and I am very pleased with it.
I used to play the piano 40 odd years ago. I had to sell my piano when I moved to a small house and I missed it!!! I have bought a couple of electric organs trying to replace it but they never sounded like a REAL piano and I grew disheartened until I discovered this! Make sure you get the pedal as well (it makes all the difference). It arrived late afternoon – I set it up and couldn’t leave it alone for 5 hours solid!

Amazing student piano!
I have just started learning piano on this and i love it! It’s easy to carry, not too heavy even for me (considering i am a 20yo girl with no muscles) and sounds nice. I also practiced on an upright yamaha at school and i have not noticed any significant difference between the feel of the keys. It’s a full sized keyboard at 88 keys so if you do want to move on to an actual acoustic piano it’ll be easy to orient yourself. I like that i can adjust volume or use earphones, something not possible with an acoustic piano which is really loud to me so i can practice anytime without worrying I’ll wake people up.

This piano was going to replace a midi keyboard which had broken. The size and semi weighted keys along with the midi ports made this a great option. The piano is great to learn with, whilst the advanced settings can get a little complicated without the guide it surely has a lot to offer.
Great, especially for your first keyboard
Looking for my first full size keyboard, having previously had a smaller keyboard. This one is of excellent quality and for the price sounds great. Make sure you buy a pedal too.
This digital piano is perfect for beginners. If you’re learning a piece of music or just getting used to the physicality of 88 keys, then this baby, as I call my Alesis, is perfect. The sound quality is very good. You must of course get a sustain pedal. The chrome pedal from M-audio feels just like the real thing.
When learning a piece, when you’ve got the notes down and the rhythm perfect then you’re going to want to add expressiveness, feeling and dynamics. This is where baby Alesis gets left in the living room while you go and find a real piano. Don’t get me wrong, you can still play wonderfully on Alesis’ semi-weighted touch-sensitive keys. But your little pinky-finger delicately hitting a note on Alesis and on a real piano (especially a grand) are two different experiences. It’s like comparing restaurants. You can fill your belly and get a satisfying meal at a takeaway or upmarket restaurant. If you want to play beautiful piano music, I would highly recommend learning with Alesis. Once you’re happy with how you’re playing the piece, go experience it on a real piano for maximum realness, pleasure and satisfaction.
I’ll keep Alesis for many years. I’ve had mine two years now (2017-2019) and she’s been a faithful friend. 2am in the morning or 2pm in the afternoon, always there, ready to be played and explored. I’ve learned and continue to learn so much about music and piano with my Alesis.
I’ll be looking to upgrade, only when I reach a level, where the nuances of expression are so prominent to me, that I need a real piano (or the closest thing I can afford to it).
Nonetheless I am very very happy with my Alesis does what it says on the tin and a real pleasure to play.

Je suis pleinement satisfait de mon achat; il n’a pas une fort des boutons pour des utilisations superflues. L’important est sa touche piano, celle-ci est en fonction de l’intensit de la frappe, est un son agrable. Dans mon cas se sera un piano qui va m’accompagner durant de nombreuses annes.
I ordered this keyboard when I got serious about learning the piano. I wanted something simple, affordable, and that sounds good, and this thing really delivered. I have only discovered 2 minor drawbacks that keep me from giving it 5 stars. First, the included music stand is very flimsy, and doesn’t have any kind of lip to keep sheets in place. Loose sheet music constantly slips off, and it’s annoying. Second, the bolt holes used to attach the keyboard to a stand are a non-standard metric M6 size, which isn’t what comes with the the recommended Rockjam stand. A quick trip to the hardware store sorted that out, but it was a little annoying.
Lovely piano sound and good weight for price - worth buying.
I have enjoyed ours but the sound has now gone too quiet to allow me to play it – not sure how I get this repaired or what could be wrong – we have not done anything to cause this fault? Please advise…
I wasn’t sure what to make of it when I first got it but after playing for a few weeks I’ve really come to like it.
For a light weight option, with not too many accessories, and semi weighted keys and a good price I recommend.
It’s not perfect, list of Cons below:
Some keys are marginally slightly closer together than others.
The music stand has a massive open back so anything less than A4 stood upright will not fit, including tablets. The answer to this is to slide the base of the music stand higher but then you end up reading your music higher up than you’d like.
The stand also wobbles somewhat when really hitting them keys, so much that my tablet sometimes changes screen orientation because it moves. This is only when you’re really playing or trying to type on the tablet whilst one the stand (very high up on the stand)
Although the keys are semi weights I cannot tell the difference in pressure from high to low, I believe they are all the same weight.
And it has no AUX for headphone/silent play which I thought it came with after watching a video review online but this could have been the pro.
And if you want to be really fussy takes a good few seconds from holding the ON/OFF button before turning On or Off.
If you can handle the above then its a great keyboard.
After a 9 year break from starting grade 5 piano.
I decided to get back out all my old books and start again and this is perfect.
Everything is in the box to just plug and play, you will just need the bigger type of adapter for the headphones as the ones used in your phone would be to small.
My sustain pedal fits perfectly, it also has a good metronome and the 2 demo songs are beautiful.
Highly recommend and arrived a day earlier than expected.

Brilliant keyboard. Our daughter was sick of not being able to play tunes as per this full keyboard on her previous one as she was missing essential keys. Her playing has come on leaps and bounds with the Alesis Recital. Great for her to be able to mix/record through a laptop too.
Excellent if you are limited to space, good value for the money. Only downside, the adapter doesn’t plug straight into a UK standard socket, you need a mans electric shaver style adapter ………..
If it contains sustain pedal and 3.5mm earphones can be used on this keyboard, I think that is much more perfect.
The weight of its keys is too light maybe less than half of piano’s.
Arrived nicely packed but unfortunately did not work, could have been adaptor or the unit, not sure but amazon were able to replace using Hermes courier within 48 hours. Very pleased and the new one be works fine.
Bit annoying that the advanced functions are a combination of two buttons plus certain keys but guess that’s to keep the aesthetics uncomplicated.

My daughter loves this keyboard! Only had one issue… After exiting DEMO mode, the volume for the keys was very low. Emailed TechSupport, no reply. Googled it and found out it is a common occurrence after using DEMO and you can do a factory reset. Since DEMO will likely rarely be used, we are happy with this purchase. Price was a little high for my liking.
Of course it feels much lighter than a real piano, however, it is a good value for money, especially for beginners who are trying to be economical!
Have had this piano for a month now and I really love it. It’s not perfect, but it’s perfectly suitable for my practise.
The touch sensitivity seems to work properly only when set to hard (which makes the keys click every time they are played), but is actually quite good and allows practising on piano and forte quite nicely.
The different instruments available and the chances to split the keyboard are very good for some type of practise but haven’t used them very much as I’m mainly a classic piano player. Same for Reverb and Chorus functions.
It’s a bit difficult to set the metronome with precision as it has to be done with + and – keys without knowing at what number it is currently set.
It’s probably because my headphones have a short cable, but half of the times I’m playing with headphones the cable falls on the keyboard and I have to move my hands around it (not very good for practise).
Haven’t tried the sustain or the MIDI output so far, but I probably will and it is very nice to have these features,
In the end, it’s clearly not a piano for live performances as it is right now, but it’s brilliant for practise and light enough to be moved around the room and not create too much trouble. I would totally recommend it for home practise if you can’t afford or don’t have room for a piano.
Good for the money, nice tone and uncomplicated to sort. Generously sized music stand. Imperative, however, to get a sustain pedal as sounds hollow without. Keys a bit on the light side as not weighted but all in all, a very satisfactory instrument for learning on or for amateur playing.

For its price-class, this is a good digital piano. It is good to use as a starter instrument if you are just starting to learn piano. Personally, I want to move to a hammer-weighted keyboard as soon as I can. This semi-weighted keyboard is too “electronic” and feels more like a synth or an organ. I really want the acoustic piano feel at my fingers. If you’re looking for a well-priced starting point that won’t be regrettable should you find you’re not really meant for the piano, then this is the unit to buy.

I read many reviews and thought long and hard before I purchased this piano. I am just learning to play and needed something other than my small yamaha keyboard with all the bells and whistles!! This is so lovely to play and I am learning faster than I imagined. There are some negative comments regarding the semi weighted keys and their ease of use. They are slightly hard to get used to as unless you press each key evenly then your volume will be up and down. I have arthritis in my hands and found it easier to switch the weighted keys off so that every note sounds the same. Much has been said also about it being difficult to access the advanced functions. If you simply take the diagram supplied in the instruction booklet and count the keys from the left than this is easy. The tone is lovely and the volume is great. All in all I am really happy with this piano and looking forward to spending more time playing.

Barring the death march and the Jaws ‘music’ I can’t play a note, but teenage daughter and her friends can knock out a tune and they say it’s very good. Apparently a match for the much more expensive keyboards at school.

Really needed a new one my last was a bit sticky…
I picked up one of these to do some writing at home and it’s perfect for what I need it for. Nothing better at this price point for sure! Very easy for beginners to set up and learn. Arrived in a sturdy box and no damage.
Great for a beginner, bit of a shame it doesn’t come with a sustain pedal but I had one anyway.
I’m overjoyed with this purchase and have been wanting to own a full scale piano for a long time.
The compact portability allows me to set up the Alesis Recital Piano wherever I want, whilst the inbuilt speakers save me from having to connect it to an external audio source, although the line outputs enable you to perform this if you wish to. The headphone port allows me to practice whenever I wish to (which is normally in the morning and of an evening), without disturbing my housemate and neighbours.
Now that I have this intuitive learning tool, i’m going to take full advantage of the 3 month Skoove Premium Subscription (interactive online piano lessons) that’s included in this package. I’ve always wanted to delve further into improving my music theory skills and now this is finally possible with Skoove’s expansive range of Beginner/Intermediate and multi-genre lessons – the USB connection functionality not only allows me to play along with the computer whilst receiving realtime feedback, but it also enables me to control VSTs within my DAW – Logic X when producing my own music.
The inbuilt metronome and onboard effects also add to the compactness of this learning package and the ‘Lesson’ function will be perfect when being taught by friends. Who knows I may even use this to teach someone else when i’m a fully fledged keys player!

It’s not very often that I can say that I am pleasantly surprised by any product but with the Alesis Recital Digital Piano I am very impressed.
Upon opening and removing the Recital from its packaging and setting up with the supplied power adapter(it even takes batteries) all I can say is WOW, very nice!!
If you want an easy to use digital piano then for the price this is a very good option.
It has an 88-key, semi-weighted keyboard which although not on par with more expensive digital pianos it feels great to play and would suit anyone who wants to jump in and learn to play piano.
Also included in the pack is a 3 month Skoove Premium Subscription(an online teaching course) which is great to get you started.
There are quite a wealth of features on the Recital which I see as being useful for any user be it a beginner right up to a pro user who wants a no fuss keyboard to use in the studio.
It has stereo RCA outputs to connect to your external speakers, a sustain pedal input and USB MIDI connector for linking up to your favourite music software on your PC/Mac or even iPad(which you can see pictured running GarageBand).
The internal 20 watt speakers also sound great and don’t distort at high volumes and although they aren’t overly loud they are adequately suitable for playing in a small/medium room setting.
The speaker output is also cut out when you use the headphone output socket. It would have been nice if there were two headphone outputs for teaching but this would be easily solved by using a headphone splitter jack on the output.
The piano sound(although only one type of acoustic piano) is really nice and in full sounding stereo
(low notes on left up to highs on the right) and having a polyphony of 128 notes you certainly won’t get any note stealing here.
There are other sounds onboard(Electric Piano/Organ/Synth/Bass) and it also has a nice mode to layer two sounds and also split mode so you can play say a bass in the lower half of the keyboard and a piano in the top half.
I do have one small complaint though, there isn’t a String type sound to layer in with the Piano but that’s just me though(I’m a sucker for Piano/String combinations).
There is also a cool Lesson mode that splits the keyboard range in two with the same notes/pitch so that two people can play along with each other side by side.
This would certainly be a great keyboard for the school music room.
All of the main sounds and options are accessed via the nicely lit blue buttons on the top panel along with a reverb and chorus to add to your overall sound.
You can also access more advanced features on the Recital by holding down the Metronome and Teaching buttons and by pressing the relevant keyboard key(as detailed in the supplied manual).
These features are things like the Click an Resonance of the pedal sound, the Velocity envelope of the keyboard, MIDI channel, Reverb/Chorus level, Metronome tempo and many more(described in the manual)…
So, the Alesis Recital is a nicely built and featured Digital Piano for anyone looking at learning to play but also a nice addition for anyone that wants a no fuss 88-key keyboard to add to their studio.
It won’t stand up to the more fully featured more expensive ones on the market but I highly recommend this for anyone who wants a low cost starter Digital Piano. And to be very honest it is really a steal at below the 300 price point!

Great value for money! I am super glad with this, it is the ideal choice for learning and practising at home. I had been looking for a little while to get the right digital piano and feel confident I made the right choice. It has been very easy to set-up and with it’s full sized keyboard of 88 semi weighted keys I get a sense of playing the real deal. The piano is also exceptionally responsive as a MIDI controller and I have used it to control a number of instruments within Logic.
I have had a few lessons but found them to be too costly to have as regularly as I would like. I have started and am enjoying the Skoove lessons and will complete my 3 month premium subscription and expect I will continue or go have a few lessons alongside. The speakers sound good but I am trying to play as often as I can so when it’s late or early in the morning the headphone option is a welcome choice in my house!
The piano has features that I am excited about exploring as my ability develops such as The Layer mode and I will look into getting a sustain pedal.
I bought this keyboard at a local music store but wanted to share my experice with this device. I had piano lessions for many years and now I just wanted to play a bit but did not want to spent a fortune. The piano was packed very well and contained everything you needed to start. It provides five sounds (Ac. Piano, E-Piano, Synth, Bass, Organ) you can switch or even layer. I’m missing a strings sound which I could layer with a acoustic piano for playing ballads. The piano’s sound engine can handle up to 128 voices at once (I assume half of them in layer mode), which is really awesome in this price range. The keybed feels pretty decent with the semi weighted keys. A fully weighted hammer keybed nobody will expect at this price.
After all I’m satisfied with this product, it has a good “bang for the buck” ratio.
