This Keyboard has great sound, lots of functions, lots of sounds, great keyboard for beginners and way beyond! Very good quality for money! Just be very aware, if you are living in the UK you may get it delivered with a 2 pin plug and Amazon were unable to help so you may not be able to play it when you get it! I contacted both Casio and the seller who were both helpful and was sent a 3 pin plug! This is the reason I only gave it 4 stars. If they can get that right it would have been 5 stars!

First, the good: An undeniably wonderful keyboard. The sounds are amazing! The grand piano is so good, you can hear the hammers striking. The keys are full-size, touch sensitive, and have a decent weighty feel to them. With 600 instrument sounds to choose from, you can express yourself in almost infinite ways, and never get bored. You can customize your sound space, and play in everything from a small chamber to an amphitheater. There’s a MIDI cable, so you can interface this with music production software, and use it to lay down tracks in your own mixed creations. So many features, I can’t list them all. Just a really stellar keyboard, and honestly worth every penny. Hard to believe it was as inexpensive as it was.

Now, the “bad”: the keys are not perfectly silent in their motions, and when you strike them, some of them will make little clicking noises as if the action needs to be tightened or adjusted. This isn’t a problem if your music is playing loud enough to drown out these noises, or you’re using headphones, but if you’re playing with the volume down low, you will hear them, and they can be annoying or distracting. Considering the very low price of this keyboard in relation to its considerable quality, I don’t view this as a deal-breaker, but some might. The next point is the user interface. Some features (such as Chord Mode and arpeggios) are nested inside of other features, and require an exact series of keys to be pressed, in the right way, in order to access them. This is a frustrating, overly complicated, and counterintuitive process. If you’re purchasing this keyboard just to play the piano or various instruments, and you don’t intend to use these additional features, then of course this won’t matter to you. Finally, for some reason, the designers chose to cover the built-in speakers with cloth. I can’t imagine why they did this, they are dust magnets and get dirty easy, and plastic or metal would have been a better choice. Run a vacuum over them occasionally to keep them clean, and try not to touch them.

Lastly, you should be aware that this keyboard does not come with a sustain pedal, and you will need to order one separately. There is no sustain button on this keyboard, but if you don’t have a pedal, you can plug a headphone jack into the sustain port, and it will do the same.

Sound prima.

Casio have really gone up in the world of late, during the 80’s and 90’s Casio were well down for cheap and cheerful toy type keyboards with lots of poor quality sound effects, the keyboards required no skill to use. More recently Casio has entered the ‘real instrument’ market and have produced some really nice keyboards and digital pianos. Not only do they they have great sound quality but also have a realistic piano feel and high quality design. This keyboard looks high quality and for the price this is a no brainer. If you are looking for a piano like sound and feel , smart phone connectivity, plenty of different sounds, recording capability and the option of battery operation then this is a leading contender. The keyboard comes with an AC adapter, sustain pedel and has build in speakers and USB midi connections and audio input. Batteries are no included.

Fantastic ‘voices’ especially the electric piano ones. Yamaha is better for natural sounding ‘real’ instruments, but who gets an electronic keyboard to play the Oboe? hehe
Loved the fill in and out and the one-key accompaniments. Great fun and good enough to actually be entertaining to ‘an audience’ I think, if a bit “cruise-ship cocktail-lounge” like, aren’t they all.
I compare this directly to the Yamaha 363 (or 463?) and actually prefer it because of the ease of use of the fills.
The built-in ‘teaching’ stuff is good.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis is a great keyboard, super sound and easy to use. One issue is that it didn’t arrive with a power adaptor. All that was in the box was a short cable with a 3 pin plug on one end and a 2 pin figure 8 plug on the other. I ordered a 9.5v power supply that seems to fit every other Casio keyboard, but it was too big for the CTX700. Still searching Amazon for one that will fit.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersFirst, I need to say that the power adaptor IS included. After reading reviews that said that there is no power adaptor included I decided to orde a generic one separately, only to find the original power adapter included with the keyboard. So this means I’m finding myself having to return the extra power adapter I’ve ordered.
Second, the keyboard has an amazing sound. It seems like Casio improved their sound quality.
Third, there are so many features, rhythms and sounds on this keyboard.
Fourth, the hardware is of high quality.
I would definitely recommend this product and I would advise to wait until the product arrives to make sure the adapter is included (which was the case with mine).

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis keyboard has the new casio X chip inside it. It takes this type of keyboard on to a completely new level of sound. Particularly outstanding are the pianos. Going to all of the YouTube videos is a must. I have many synths and keyboards of my own and this was bought for my niece as a Christmas present.
I am utterly impressed with what Casio are able to give you now in such a low costing keyboard. This is a game changer. The quality of sound is much better than Yamaha’s etc within the same price bracket.

It takes a while to get to understand the button menus but reading the manual is a must.

We bought this for our daughter for Christmas. She is thrilled with it and it is a fantastic keyboard. However, we are already needing to replace the batteries. In the information it says it comes with an AC power adaptor but this wasn’t the case with ours.
We phoned the product support number provided by Amazon who told us we could buy one but I can’t see any other way to get hold of one without having to pay! This should have been included.

    No AC power adaptor included

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis is really quite a feature upgrade from my current (albeit slightly cheaper) Yamaha keyboard – the first thing you notice is the fact that the Casio reacts quite realistically to notes being hit with differing intensity. It really does react and sound like a piano (or a harpsichord, or a drum, or an organ or one of dozens of different instruments) perhaps with a slightly less realistic key feel – I especially like the grand piano tone.

The speakers are decent quality, and the sound produced is superb. You can also plug 1/4″ headphones into it, or run the output to an external amp or mixer. There is a 3.5mm input jack, too.

One very useful feature is the USB data link which allows you to transfer songs to and from a computer, and of course to create a digital midi link to your music software of choice – in my case FL Studio, where it was instantly recognised and I was able to use the keyboard to play notes of varying intensity straight into the sequencer.

There’s also a 1/4″ foot pedal (not included) connector, where you can connect an external pedal to control sustain, or have it start and stop auto accompaniment or a song playback.

It comes with a mains adapter, or you can actually insert 6 AA batteries and play it as a fully portable unit – how about that!

The 64 page user guide is available as a PDF download, and I strongly recommend giving it a read from cover to cover to get the best out of your keyboard.

All in all a super keyboard with a wealth of very realistic instrument sounds and functionality (most of which many people will never use but it’s great to have) all in one compact unit, and at a pretty competitive price point. What’s not to like?

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersThis little keyboard has it all. I wanted a battery-powered portable keyboard to replace a Yamaha NP12 and Roland Go:Piano, both of which I had given to relatives/friends. For the price, this is a no brainer! Great sounds, amazing rhythm accompaniments, nice keyboard feel and touch, easy to use and looks great. I also own a Tyros 5/76, Yamaha CP4 stage piano, Yamaha GC1 Grand piano and a few other keyboards, so I like to think I have a clue what I’m talking about…… But for around 170 this has to be the best value keyboard on the planet! Casio keyboards used to be crap, but this is a tota; game-changer. If you are thinking of buying one, just buy it! You won’t be disappointed.

I really liked that you can power this off 6 AA batteries as they are quite common, but there is an AC adapter in the box as well as an instruction manual, cheat sheet and stand for your music sheets.
Honestly I don’t know much about keyboards so I ran it by a twelve year old who was learning and already pretty good. They they were pretty happy with it with them commenting on how the sound was better than his old keyboard and that he liked the pressure sensitive keys where you could not just play loudly or quietly as needed, but some sound banks also changed what was played.
I almost fooled myself I could play when I used the ability of the keyboard to convert the lower half in to an accompaniment where all you have to do is slowly play out the keys and the processor fills in the blanks for you. You can also tap out the rhythm so that this matches whatever speed you want.
The ability to record and playback your own compositions was also appreciated. Unfortunately I don’t own any music creation software to test out using the keyboard as an input, but I was able to play MIDI files from my PC on the keyboard and they sounded very nice indeed. There is a system for teaching you how to play however you have to keep your eyes on the rather small LCD which is not ideal but perhaps more ‘grown up’ than having light up keys. I did notice it reminds you which hands to use so as to promote proper technique but alas I have sausages for fingers.
Overall I think it’s great, the learner quite likes it and so he’s adopted it as his new daily driver. Can’t say fairer than that really.

This is quite a large keyboard so it really needs a stand to sit on whilst you play it. It has an 160 song bank including such things as twinkle twinkle little star, amazing grace and silent night. When you select these you can choose to listen, watch to follow the prompts on the central screen to follow along. It will tell you which number key to press and show you on the screen. However as the keys are not numbered I found it difficult to follow along. There are also 195 rhythms including pop, jazz, rock and dance. I find it strange how only the chord keys have letters assigned to them. Surely it would have been better to also label the notes. The sound quality is very good and it comes with its own power cord and a music stand for your music book.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersFirst impressions on this “High-Grade” keyboard from Casio were very high indeed! The build quality is simply stunning with a highly refined and highly polished look and feel about it. It was obvious straightaway that this was not a budget keyboard but one that could be used for maximum musical performance. I don’t have a huge amount of experience on the keyboard but the tones and pitch are exactly what you would expect with every note being perfectly clear even at high volumes.

As expected there are a number of features worth mentioning. There are nearly two hundred accompaniment rhythms to match any genre of music and while it can take a bit of practice to navigate between them, once you get used to the interface its pretty easy to use. It has a six track recorder, USB Midi Connector, more than three hundred presets, touch sensitive keys, arpeggiator and a bunch of other things which I can only guess at their function (but I’ll explore them in more time).

What I really liked was seeing the “Smartphone Pad” which is somewhere you can place your device and connect via USB. While its a simple thing its great to be able to use different applications and plug-ins without having to worry about connectivity (or your mobile falling off). There are music lessons pre-set and plenty of them to get your mastering the musical arts in no time. Like I mentioned, I’m not the most experienced at keyboarding and because of that I found these very useful and easy to follow.

There isn’t really anything I can fault about the Casio keyboard. I’ve been using it for a few weeks now and I have been very impressed with the build quality, the musical output and the features. At this price range I doubt you will find another keyboard that can match this….

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is a very nicely made keyboard. The whole thing feels really solid and beautifully made. There is nothing cheap about it. The tones and sound are amongst the most authentic I’ve ever heard from a keyboard. I have learned to play piano, but my first love is guitar. I love the fact that I can use the chording system in this to play by guitar chords – even complex ones – and the actual chord name will show up on the display. The display is lovely and clear, but too small and set at the wrong angle to be seen clearly while playing. I find myself tilting the keyboard up to see what’s there. The key action is positive and very responsive to differences in pressure. You can get really dynamic response from this with different playing styles – staccato to legato sound as they would on an acoustic instrument. The musicality of this can’t be beaten.

My issue with it is that it is too complex, and not intuitive to use to access all of the features. I’m used to keyboards generally, and I’m used to Casio keyboards in particular. I’ve already said that I love the fact that I can see the names of the chords I’m playing. However there are no clear instructions on which keys to press to achieve which guitar cords. I’m having to do it all by trial and error, admittedly with a little knowledge of chords. But it doesn’t consistently produce the same chords, or even necessarily the ones I want in a progression depending on key.. The instructions that come with this are lengthy and complete; just utterly inaccessible. In tiny print and not set out in such a way as to make the functions intuitive to access. It ought to be self explanatory looking at the top of the keyboard as to how to access each menu, but it isn’t. As with all complex electronics it will be necessary to go and find online guides, or buy a book, in order to use this keyboard to it’s full potential.

That said, this would be ideal for a student to learn on. Someone who has a little knowledge already, knows that they want to learn more, they would love this. It would be ideal in a home studio too, as it does plug into a PC, and is usable with both the DAWs I have installed. It also plays and produces midi files, and you can record onto the keyboard itself. There’s a handy stand to put a phone on so that you can use that as you need to while playing. Two things to get to go with this, especially if buying it as a gift. One is a stand; it’s heavy, and a stand would allow it to go anywhere. The second is a carrying case. This will last a keyboard player for years and it will do all you want it to do. I just wish the learning curve so as to get to use it to it’s full potential wasn’t so steep.

Superb piece of kit. No idea about the new processor and other stuff inside but I can assure you that this keyboard sounds truly excellent.

It’s build quality and feel to the touch makes you think this is more expensive than the price suggests and it comes with a music stand and is well packaged in a surprisingly compact box.

The issue I have is that I really need a stand and somewhere to leave it up all the time but alas our house doesn’t have the room for that, as I’d live the opportunity to use it more than I can presently.

The previous casio organ we have is maybe 10 or 15 years old and I don’t see any reason why this one won’t last as well as that has.

Great keyboard. Comes firmly packed with power supply and music stand. Operation is simple and easy and packed with loads and loads and loads of great features. The new sound drivers and speakers do an excellent job in providing a rich and realistic sound. The keys are also very pleasing to use with a nice weight to them. It sounds great, with plenty of volume too. Perfect keyboard.
