Well, this bit of kit is outstanding. Just the easiest to fit. Instructions were so straightforward to understand and choose the best option for me. It was so easy to fit no problem and worked perfectly straight away. I’ve changed the settings for the timer a few times just to check to see what works for us and it is the biggest peace of mind knowing I have this. I couldn’t be happier. As I said I should of bought this years ago!
We bought both the door and the door opener. Both work flawlessly. I recommend their on-line videos for how to program the opener – makes it very clear how to set it up. Completely happy with it!
Easy to install and easy to programme and use. Videos are helpful. Decided to unlock the sensor (for a fee) and it is working well.

Es muy correcto. Buen producto, compacto. Te permite cambiar la polaridad por si tu puesta en vez de guillotina es basculante. Programa de gestion muy completo
un invento genial para los que tenemos gallinas, hace su funcin perfectamente, y el torno que enrolla la cuerda tiene fuerza de sobra para subir bajar la puerta (por cierto genial por simple el mecanismo de bloqueo de esta)
muy facil de programar y muy intuitivo.
no le pongo 5 estrellas por estas cosas:
lo compre para dejar salir mis gallinas de un vallado a la parcela (para sujetarlas hasta el medio da y tener los huevos localizados) pero lamentablemente no deja programar la apertura ms que hasta las 11.59 (pero sabemos que hay gallinas que ponen a veces ms tarde) .. y el cierre solo desde las 12 del medioda a 12 de la noche … lo solucione engaandolo con la hora del reloj, pero debera dar ms flexibilidad de programacin
el hilo que acciona la puerta tampoco se ve muy fuerte, ya veremos lo que dura con el tiempo humedad y sol
otra cosa el mo es el modelo bsico (hay 3 niveles de acabado) y aunque no estoy seguro porque no lo he investigado muchos, me parece que no tiene sensor de luz para programar por ejemplo a la salida/puesta de sol..

Die Bedienung ist ausgesprochen einfach. Daran knnten sich andere Firmen mal orientieren.
Das einzige was ich zu bemngeln habe ist die Uhr. Wie schon bei der letztens Klappe geht diese immer nach kurzer Zeit nach. Ich spreche jetzt nicht von Sekunden sondern von mehreren Minuten. Da die Hhner jetzt nicht unbedingt in der Gewerkschaft sind, geht das noch in Ordnung.
Verstehen muss ich das allerdings nicht da die Geschichte jetzt nicht unbedingt ein Low Budget Produkt ist .
Was ich zum Schluss noch toll finde , man kann die Klappe trotz Programmierung manuell vorzeitig ffnen und schlieen. Das ist ein groer Vorteil zu anderen Herstellern.
Such a great bit of kit and very easy to set up. I purchased the door as well, again, easy to fit.
I liked it so much I purchased another two motors to cover the food and water to help keep the rats out. One raising an upside down flower pot and the other a lightweight plank over the trough. Not what they had in mind I am sure, but they are lightweight and the motors cope fine.
What is really great is that we can go away for a night or two and not have to worry about putting them to bed.
I have set the opening and closing on timer, not Light Sensor as I want it to close later, just in case one of the Chickens wants to be a dirty little stop out.

Bis jetzt keinerlei Probleme (1 Monat Einsatz) einfache Montage und einfache Einstellung.
Kann ich bedenkenlos weiterempfehlen.
Mal schauen wie es nach 1 Jahr bzw. nach dem Winter aussieht.
Ist schon unser zweites Gert. Beide laufen super und tun, was sie sollen. Batteriewechsel ca. zweimal im Jahr. Wird aber rechtzeitig angezeigt. Super ist die blinkende LED, die signalisiert, dass das Tor geschlossen ist.
Aber: bei beiden Gerten geht die aktuelle Uhrzeit sowas von nach. Man muss praktisch jeden Monat justieren. Das ist etwas rgerlich.
Great item saves early rises and wondering about in the dark nights
I’ve only had this for a week, but it’s a huge improvement on our duck-keeping. We ordered just the lifter without a door (we have a cookie sheet between tracks for a sliding door) and it works perfectly. The ladies are able to go out at 6am while I’m still waking up. Also makes it easier to go away for the weekend as we don’t have to get someone to let them in and out while we’re gone.
I’ll update this once we’ve had it longer, as I currently can’t comment on inclement weather or battery life.
UPDATE: It’s 1/1/22 got it in May of last year and still working like the first day. It’s inside the coop so the sun does not touch it. I would buy it again. O ya the girls and boys (2) love it.

This is a fabulous product and for any dedicated poultry owner it really helps. Very easy to install and means that I can now lie in and the automatic door lets my girls out at exactly the right time! There is also less worry now at night time as they are great at taking themselves to bed and it locks behind them so Mr Fox cant get to them.

I have had this a month now and everything is going great! Easy to set up and we bought the locking door with it which is a must. We ended up mounting the door on the inside of the barn which works great. Here is to not having to come back to the house to put the chickens up. Just make sure that you are giving your girls enough time to get back in the coop.
Well made and easy to fit, clear instructions on how to set up
This saves me and my wife from having to open/close our door to the run for our Chickens everyday is amazing. If you are going to mount it outside ( ours is inside ), I would suggest the version with the light sensor as it avoids it closing too early/late. We have ours connected to a metal door ( made sure it was light enough ) and is easily able to open/close.
Definitely one of the better purchases for my Chickens that I have made!
So far so good. Easy to install and for me the standard was fine. Set the timer for opening and closing times and its done. Very straight forward.
This works really well. My only feedback is that you will need to remove the battery holder to put all 4 batteries in. Very easy, but if you’re like me, you will try to figure out why it doesn’t work with 2 batteries before you see the light and discover it’s removable and needs 4.
Secondly, this ships from Britain. You will likely be charged additional duty and other fees. It would be great if Amazon put it clearly in their description.
Lastly, order the one with the door. I had to buy one separately. It’s worth the money in the end and will save you a lot of hassle.

This was so easy to set up. The door is opening and closing as per the timer I set, had no problems at all. Wish I’d bought one sooner.
No dislikes, easy to fit and program following the instructions.Just changed batteries in my other one ,believe two years ? But recommend changing sooner if going away as chickens cannot get out!

Replacement for slightly cheaper competitors. The simple big arrows are the winner. Even the mother in law can work these.
Generally all qualities of this Chicken Guard is really very good and lives up to the promises. The battery warning light would be better as a green colour and replacing the batteries means increasing the front of the guard. It looks very neat and smart. I’m very pleased with it so far.
Fantastic item. Have 2 of these and it makes life so much easier, being able to open the door to the coop, in the morning and locking them safely away at night.
Easy to install and set up
The unit works fine once you find your way around the menu. However I did not realise and it is not clear that the photo cell although fitted does not operate unless you pay an upgrade!
So the STANDARD only works on timer and they should make that much clearer.

While the product is overall exactly as advertised, I have some notes as the product has failed twice:
1. The batteries realistically only work for 2 months and seem to get drained quicker than they claim. No biggie, just keep it in mind if you see it acting sluggish.
2. If temperatures dips below 25 degrees (F) or so, keep an eye out because the electronics could freeze up.
3. Make sure whatever door you install can’t get caught on anything, and that if you use wood you give plenty of space in case the board swells with moisture. Keep it clear from any degree the chickens might kick in the doorway.
4. If you notice the unit has failed and the buttons are swapped (up makes it go down, etc.) was then the string has gotten looped over the inner spool too much. Push one of the buttons and allow it to swing around the spool and straighten out.
5. It might be a good idea to add some kind of an overhanging protector for the unit (if you can’t put it inside the coop) such as I did with a plastic container. I specially cut so the string can pass freely through it. Small things like that can make the unit last longer over time.

It has been a legend.
I live in Scotland, and the length of daylight changes dramatically throughout the year.
This guarantees my ladies are locked up safe every night automatically thanks to the daylight sensor.
I have a custom built aluminium door running in aluminium channels, and the machine opens and closes every day without problem.
I change the batteries about every two years.
I can not recommend this product highly enough.

My husband was unable to change the clock times or batteries on another make we have used. It was too complicated. He has able to do the whole install of the ChickenGuard including setting up the opening and closing times in about 15 minutes. A winner as far as I am concerned.
The instructions are very clear to follow and made the setting up very easy. There are no complicated switches inside to tell it when it has got to the top or bottom of its run, just a simple calibration setup. The box is compact and looks very weather proof, with simple buttons to setup and over ride the opening/ shutting of the door. If I had looked into it a little better I think I would have gone for the one with a light censor on it to close a bit earlier in the winter rather than have to set the times differently at different times of the year. Not a big problem in the scheme of things though.
This is my second automatic door opener, still have the old one which is still working away, highly recommended them
Bei mir funktioniert der Chickenguard seit 2 Monaten einfandfrei. Ich musste sogar manchmal die ffnungs- und Schliezeiten verstellen, was total problemlos funktioniert. Man muss nur aufpassen, dass man beim Einstellungsmen die Kalibrierung nicht verndert. Ansonsten geht die Tr tatschlich nicht mehr komplett zu. Ist mir einmal passiert, habe es aber rechtzeitig bemerkt, bevor es der Marder rausbekommen hat ;o)
Klar wre eine automatischer Trffner mit Dmmerungssensor noch besser. Ich muss aber sagen, dass wenn man seine Hhner beobachtet und wei wann sie ins Bett gehen, kann man eine halbe Stunde lngere einstellen und alles klappt total prima. Da ich die Hhner mitten im Wohngebiet halte, drfen sie im Sommer auch nicht schon im Morgengrauen raus. Fr mich passt das so. Ich bin sehr zufrieden.
Nachtrag: Nach 1 1/2 Jahren mit den ursprnglich mitgelieferten Batterien hat es mir angezeigt, dass die Batterien schwach werden. Habe die Blende abgeschraubt, Batterien gewechselt, wieder drauf geschraubt – absolut problemlos!!! Die Kalibrierung der Hhnerklappe muss dann neu gemacht werden und auch die Uhrzeit muss neu gestellt werden. Aber das ist wirklich kein Problem. Ich bin auch nach dieser Zeit immer noch total zufrieden.
You can adjust the length and record it so that it does the same every time. The battery blinking indicator is very good. The string has not broken in constant use for more than a year.
In other words, very reliable and worth every penny. I never have to worry about the chickens being locked in without access to food and water.
Ive tried a few different auto openers, this is the best by far. The setup is very easy, unlike some, the battery life is INSANE. I kept reminding myself to change battery as the winter was bound to kill the battery, it didnt, still going strong.

It is expensive, but its worth it, you just wont have to worry again.

This will keep your chickens safe at night, because we all forget to shut them in once, and that’s when the fox wins.
It is easy to use, 100% reliable and completely weather-proof.
I’ve had this for over three years and it has never let me down. I love the red flashing light at night so I can see from a long distance the door has closed.
I change the AA batteries every October, before the really cold weather sets in, as freezing weather can deplete batteries. They recommend standard Energiser batteries, (NOT Lithium or Ultra or rechargeable and not Duracell).
My hen house is exposed to extreme gales, snow, ice and torrential rain for sometimes weeks at a time, and it has withstood all that with ease, which is amazing given we have mounted it on the outside of the house.
A red light comes on in the daytime if the battery is low so look at that each carefully day (it isn’t very obvious in bright sunlight so cup your hand over it to check).
The after sales service is superb and they will help you with any question, clearly and promptly (we emailed).
The cost of this is worth every penny when you think we have bred birds so they can’t fly away to safety and penned them into an enclosure with no means of escape from a predator if one gets in. It is our absolute duty to do all we can to ensure their safety when you think of all they do for us. More than highly recommended – it is literally a life-saver.
I haven’t used automatic door closing for the evenings as a couple of the chickens don’t like going into the coop at night until very late and I need to be sure that they are all safe inside before the doors close.
The fitting was easy enough although the instructions on how to use and set up could have been a little more detailed. Fitting the weather seal was fiddly. Perhaps this could be pre-fitted?

Du coup les poules sont + heureuses car elles ont un minuteur qui leur permet de sortir 6h30 dornavant au lieu de 7h45 en semaine et parfois 8h30 le week end en cas de loup… les pauvres.

Le mcanisme s’est dj bloqu 2 fois en moins d’un mois avec le message d’erreur ‘porte bloque’ qui empche l’ouverture de la porte et ce, sans raison…
Very good product, it’s a shame the light sensitive part does not work without having to pay 25 for it to be unlocked so it may work out cheaper to buy with it included. The timer system works well though.
Works well. The standard version only has timer operation, sensor is disabled. Should have upgraded to the premium but non the less works well just using the timer function.
This is our 2nd one and we are very impressed with the simplicity of the unit.
It is very well made and takes minutes to install, seems like they have back up support if the unit ever goes wrong too

Having lost chickens due to us being too naiive around closing the chicken coop hatch nightly we bought this prior to replacing our chickens. Its worked reliably & without problems. Easy to install.
Only downside is that it is quite easy to reprogramme it by accident.

Easy and straight forward to set up, much more straightforward than the previous one i had ( Titan) so far working perfectly, was a bit of a fiddle to attach to my recycled plastic chicken house,but manages in the end, would be much easier on wood. looking forward to a lie in.

The new ChickenGuard is a much nicer looking piece of hardware compared to the earlier models; I’m assuming that they’ve been a success and so they’ve been able to increase production and update the case as it’s much nicer and easier to fit than the older version.
Very pleased with this,saves a lot of hassle every day.

Seems to do the job once we had fiddled around fitting it. I don’t know how long the draw string will last but you can get replacement cord. You really need to have the lock directly over the door.
On n’a qu’ se laisser guider, c’est trs simple mettre en place.
