Start Your Coravin Journey

From a weekday glass to a special occasion bottle, Coravin technology meets wine preservation needs. Pure Argon gas replaces wine as it’s extracted, ensuring oxygen never touches the remaining wine to keep it fresh. The non-coring Coravin needle gently pierces corks without displacing cork material. The cork simply expands back to its normal shape when the needle is pulled.

Preserve Wine for Years

Don’t wait for a special occasion to drink that prized bottle. Have one glass today and another in a week, a month, or even years. Coravin capsules power all Coravin wine preservation systems and protect remaining wine from oxidation. We use our proprietary Four Point Purity Process to ensure the Argon is as pure as possible.

Wonderful invention. It allows me to sample different wines while still keeping them intact. Working quite well so far.

Amazing device. Now i select multiple bottles and extract a little bit, so i can compare different years, terroir, and so on. Before this i did not want to open the wines because is too much for myself. I am totally satisfied.

It kept a $65 bottle of red wine fresh for over 2 months.

This works very well indeed. It expels the air in your bottle and replaces it with an inert gas, argon. Argon is present in air naturally – 1% of every breath you take is argon – so it’s an entirely natural, safe gas. When wine goes off, it reacts with the oxygen in the air to form vinegar. This device removes all the air so there is no oxygen left for the wine to react with.

    It is easy to use.

Due to the cost of the argon, this is only worth using with expensive bottles of wine.

Firstly let me make it clear this system is not cheap and definitely not intended for the casual drinker of ‘plonk’. But if you are a true wine connoisseur and enjoy fine quality and by definition often very expensive wine this is probably the system for you.

As anyone who enjoys quality wine knows once you pop that cork it begins to degrade due to oxidation. Not an issue if you consume the whole bottle in a single session. But if you have a lovely bottle of quality wine, which may (or not) have cost you a considerable amount you sometimes want to savor the wine over a period. That is where this system comes into the picture.

If you do have a particularly special or expensive bottle of wine you can using this system enjoy a single glass for example and then store the remaining wine perfectly preserved for months or potentially even years.

How does this work? Well explained simply you load a special gas cartridge into the unit and then you insert the device needle into your bottle of wine through the cork and clamp the unit to the bottle. You can then use the unit to dispense wine from the bottle simply by pouring it and the unit will replace the dispensed wine with special inert argon gas from the cartridge. This prevents oxygen from getting to the wine and thus preserves it for future use. Removing the unit allows the cork to self seal as you remove the needle and leaves the cork intact and airtight until you next want some of your beautiful wine. Basically it is very simple and easy to use and allows you to sample your wine collection as and when you wish and make that special bottle last much longer than usual.

The downside to this system is obviously the initial buy in price, but if you are a big wine connoisseur this is likely to be viewed as acceptable for the convenience it provides as well as preventing the waste of potentially very expensive wines.

Other things to bear in mind is that the argon gas cartridges while good for around 15 x 150ml glasses of wine when you need additional ones (you get 3 supplied with the system) they are quite pricey to replace.

In terms of items provided with the system as well as the main unit you get the previously mentioned 3 argon gas cartridges, 6 replacement caps for wine that comes with a screw top as well as an aerator unit. Finally you also get a really good quality storage case to keep the system and its components in.

An additional item to mention is that there is an optional needle attachment available which gives you increased pouring speed if you feel this is needed. It is also possible to replace the needle as and when you need to (not required unless the non-stick coating begins to wear off) so that you can carry on using the system for as long as you wish.

Overall if you love your wine and feel you can justify the cost of this system I can highly recommend it, but I would say it is probably not for everyone.

    Amazon servizio eccelso.

Really good product, but replacement gas cylinders are expensive. Hence, it only makes sense when opening / drinking good (expensive) wine

    Pros

PRESENTATION & DESIGN: I think Coravin have done a nice job with packaging and design of the product to give a premium vibe/feel.

EASE OF USE: Once you have learnt how to use it, you won’t forget. It’s actually very easy to use and isn’t as complex as it initially looks.

POURING: The wine pours out smoothly, making it simple to pour out a glass of wine with ease.

RESULTS: Even more so with the aerator; this products brings out more flavour of the wine. Another bonus is having the ability to pop this onto a wine that has a cork, getting a glass out of it and take the product off as if you’ve never opened the bottle is amazing. The Argon gas helps preserve the bottle too.

    Cons

INSTRUCTIONS: Whilst the process of using this unit is rather straight-forward, when you’re using it for the first time, it isn’t actually that obvious of what is needed to do. I found the instructions to be a little vague and the print of the icons not very clear.

There is a QR code that is supposed to take you to a video showing you how to use it, but actually took me to a different model.

Once I figured it out, I did give myself a “face palm” as previously said, it’s simple to use (once you know how).

ADDITIONAL COSTS: Unfortunately down the line there will be more additional costs to keep using this product and they are quite pricey, such as the Argon gas capsules and even the cork needle needing to be replaced at some point.

    Final Thoughts

This is a very premium product with a price tag to match.

If you’re someone who loves wine and has been in a position where they are hesitant to open a bottle due to wanting it to last, then this product is perfect, especially if you like expensive wine; this literally enables you to get out a glass or two without compromising the bottle.

Whilst expensive, there is no denying that this product is excellent at what it does and for that reason, I think it deserves five stars.

My partner and his family are half Spanish and they do love their wine. They always have many bottles of posh, aged red wine in the house which they would ideally want to have a glass of a few different ones rather than open an bottle having to finish it all. This made my partner very excited so I definitely think it would make a great present!

So it’s surprisingly easy to use with instructions and a YouTube video that helped. The needle penetrates the cork without breaking it, it blokes any oxygen from entering the bottle, you pour a glass or two and remove the needle. The cork is like it was never touched and the wine remains ‘unopened’ and fresh. It’s brilliant in every sense! Upon research, this brand is good and well known to those that know wine, which explains the price. It can keep a bottle of wine without oxidation foe up to 2 years which is impressive. The capsules preserve the wine by releasing a safe gas.

Now the only issue can be the capsules. Each capsule of gas can ‘open’ up to 15 bottles of wine and you get 3 capsules in this set, enough for 45 bottles of wine. However, then you’d need to buy more, a set of 6 is about 45 pounds in the coravin page so keep that in mind. That’s not a reason for me to remove a star, just something to consider.

    Finally, cleaning is easy.

    Overall, we definitely recommend it.

    Excellent for wine connoisseurs

This works very well for me because I enjoy a glass of wine every other day and this keeps it fresh.

It’s all very well made and sturdy.

I do think though that it’s overpriced, thats why i took a star off the rating but if you can see past the price tag then you’re onto a very good product.

I have heard about Coravin for awhile now, this device basically allows you to drink the wine without opening the bottle in the traditional way. It uses a needle through the cork with argon air pressure to extract the wine from the bottle, the bottle will remain seal after the needle is retracted.

The device is made mostly in hard plastic with a long metal needle. There is a compartment for placing the argon canister. It comes in a branded hard protective case, which looks really nice.

It is very simple to use – just install the argon air canister into the handle, test it by pressing the lever on top to make sure air is flowing, line up the needle at the centre of the cork and push the cap in with the needle. Wine can then be extracted by tilting the bottle to pouring angle with a press of the lever, if the wine slows down just need to press the lever again until you got the amount you want.

If the wine you are opening comes with metal screw-on caps rather than corks, there are six Coravin caps included for that. Just need to replace the original metal cap with the Coravin cap and do the same extraction procedure as you would for the cork cap.

With this device, there’s no more use of wine stopper and worrying about the wine is going to turn if not drank within days after the bottle is opened. You will be able to sample a bottle of good wine and preserve it for someone you want to share with, almost in its original sealed condition.

Worth noting, one argon canister is claimed to allow pouring of 15 glasses. They are perishable and currently selling at 7.60 a can on amazon.

The device is by no means cheap, and there is an ongoing cost of the argon air come with it too, but the idea and execution are excellent here. I could see this justify for sommeliers or wine-lovers that drink expensive bottles of vintage wine, you have the option of sampling it yet preserving it at the best possible condition. I could see this make sense when you are drinking rare expensive bottles, but hard to justify spending this amount on supermarket wines.

    Expensive but innovative

This is a great wine preservation and pouring device but my headline is that you would need to have some very expensive wines indeed to make the preservation part worthwhile .

The injection of the gas from the capsules can stop the oxidisation process and keep a partially consumed bottle of wine fresh for up to two years according to the manufacturer. However you are not going to be bothered doing this to a 6.99 bottle of plonk from the cash and carry , so while this is effective and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it I can think of very few occasions when I would consider taking the time to do this .

As such an outlay of about 200 for device itself will be excessive for many people though there will be wine affectionados out there who would love to find this in their Christmas Stocking, possibly with a jar of caviar thrown i

This Coravin system really does keep your wines fresh and drinkable over time so that you can, for example, sample two or three different wines then leave there remainder in the bottles of be sampled again or finished later. Useful over Xmas when you might want to have a couple of special wines with Xmas dinner but not drink all the contents until the following day or even later. The injection of an inert gas above the wine keeps it from oxidising but does not affect the wine’s taste. Screw top wines can also be kept as there are special tops provided that you can fit to the bottle so the Coravin needle can be inserted and removed.

At the price this is designed for a wine buff tasting different wines regularly, or a restaurant, for example, but if you can afford it it does what it says and looks good into the bargain.

Very easy to use serious piece of kit which needs the gas cannisters replacing after every 15 glasses of wine. At the time of my review they are priced at 46.99 for a pack of six.

This Model Six+ is very well presented, has it’s own zipper bag and a further cloth bag is provided for everything else including the 3 gas cylinders. I like the fact it can be used on both corked and screw bottles and six screw caps are included to replace the original. A few minor things have lost it a point from me a) the needle clearing tool is threaded onto the minimal small instruction card and could easily be missed/lossed b) no info on how to use said tool for that I had to search online – a link could easily have been provided especially considering the price of the item or include on the instructions on the card.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersThe brand offers cleaning advice on its YouTube page. This was not intuitive on how to clean, and only recommendation I’d have is to include cleaning instructions in packaging or a direction to the YouTube page. Product is CRAZY easy to use and I was surprised how the needle went in so easily. Also, the blue is an awesome tone somewhere between Navy and Cobalt. All pieces were included in my purchase, including the needle clearer (it’s attached to instructions, don’t throw it out!)
