How can I tell which breast shield size I need?

Elvie Pump comes with a 24mm and 28mm Breast Shield (often called a flange), sized based on the width of the base of your nipple. You can measure the width of the base of your nipple with a ruler. Always refer to the manufacturers instructions.

How should I sterilise?

Boil in water for five minutes or suitable for microwave, steam or cold water sterilizing methods. We do not recommend microwave or steam sterilizing for more than five minutes.

What is the suction strength/ how many intensity settings are there?

Elvie Pump has a similar range of suction to other Pumps on the market, with seven intensity settings, this means you can set the intensity at the level that is most comfortable for you.

I have large breasts, will it work for me?

We have lots of customers who have had success using Elvie Pump with larger breasts. Elvie Pump has been designed to fit within a standard nursing bra and the cup size makes no difference to how Elvie Pump works.

What is the capacity of the bottles?

The bottles hold 5oz or 150 mls of milk. If you fill a bottle during a session, it’s very easy to change bottles then resume pumping!

    Great pump.
Very happy with this, delivery was quick and it works well.

Steep learning curve and frustrating to line up in order to get the right suction. The shake off the flanges doesn’t work for me but I bought Silicone inserts from another brand and they work. When everything is right (which is hard to do consistently), they’re super quiet, convenient and efficient.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIt is actually worth the money...
I hate to admit it, but this has been worth every penny!!!! It does exactly what it says it will. A Primark girl at heart I originally bought a cheaper version. And it worked okay for a couple of months, but it would leak easily and the battery went downhill quickly.
I bought this in sheer desperation as my milk supply can be all over the place and I really wanted to get time to pump hands free, and it just works! It is neat. It is actually quiet. Not silent, but I doubt anyone would hear it unless you were in a library and talking to someone two foot away from you. The way the bottle inserts to collect milk means it doesn’t leak (you will get a couple of drops when you take it off) unlike the cheap version that leaked about 2ozs down me!
Easy to clean, easy to charge. Granted I feel like Pammy when I have them both in, and no you can’t go for a jog in them, but you can potter around the house and run (upright) errands in them. Its great overnight to feed off one side and pump the other and my little one is oblivious to it.
So yes I’m sorry to say it isn’t cheap, but it is exactly what you were looking for!!

    Convenie
I’ve had my Elvie for over a month now and I feel like I can give an honest review. I’m an exclusive pumper and my main pump is the Spectra s2. The Elvie has been a game changer for being able to go places without being attached to the wall.
    Pros:
    -portability
-good suction-my output is the same as with my spectra
    -decent battery life
    Cons:
-App is terrible, but not a huge deal to me
    -Lots of pieces to wash
-I can’t really bend over with it, because it triggers the sensor that it’s full

    Life Saver!
I have always hated pumping. I saw these advertised on Instagram and I knew I had to get them. I like that I could use my HSA to pay for them since they are pricey.
I have been using them for 3 weeks now and they work great! I am a teacher so I love that I can get up and walk around the classroom and work with being tied to a wall. I have pumped in the car on the way to work several times! The suction is good and I get about the same amount I do with other pumps. They are very easy to use as well!
The only con I really have is that they are not as quiet and discreet as I hoped they would be. If I’m in a quiet room you can definitely hear them and can even see the lights under my clothing. But if people are talking or there is background noise people probably won’t notice.
    Overall very happy!

Im a second time mom and im really glad I made this investment. With my first born it was really hard for me to produce milk. And I would be stuck to my pump for over an hour trying everything I could to just get even an ounce of milk. This pregnancy I has mastitis because its been hard to handle a newborn and a toddler. I didn't always have time to sit and be connected to a pump. I ordered the Elvie and I was able to get a steady flow of milk coming in for my baby and run around after my toddler. Ive seen complaints about how many parts it comes it. When you really sit down and compare it, its about the same as any other pump (minus the damn tubes). The battery is great. I use it at least 5 or 6 times a day and I set it to charge over night. I agree about the application being trash but that's honestly not a big deal. As far as leaking goes it can leak but I've noticed its when the container is almost completely full so that makes sense. Just keep an eye on the milk level and you'll be great!

First of all, yes this absolutely has a learning curve to it. But with some patience, it’s an absolute life saver.

I’m a 911 dispatcher at a single seat agency, so pump breaks aren’t possible. The pump is quiet enough to not be picked up by my mic on radio traffic or on our very sensitive 911 line. It’s small enough that it’s fairly discreet under a baggier shirt and jacket. The auto shutoff when full is perfect, because I sometimes get stuck running traffic and can’t step away to check the bottles.

I am disappointed that spare/ parts are pretty pricey especially considering the initial cost of the pump itself, but is an investment I’m willing to make to continue nursing my little one.

Not the best not the wors
I have had these for 2 months now
Pros – portability and it’s a small Unit
Cons – doesn’t empty you out
    Poor suction power
    Leaks
    Doesn’t hold a charge
One unit takes a really really long time to charge while the other charges quickly

    Life Save
Here’s the thing. I struggled so much to purchase these pumps that I was beginning to believe it was a sign not to invest. BUT I am so glad I did. My cards were not going through with the purchases and luckily their customer service was able to help me out with my issue within less than 24 hours.

The pumps themselves are pretty to look and easy to set up. The quality of the pumps is high I was impressed with the hard plastic material (I don’t know what I was expecting honestly, but there is that).

Within 16 days of the package arriving I have been able to produce close to 2oz each pumping session after I had lost most of my milk supply. I pump after every time my baby feeds and anytime I go out and do errands to catch up to my babies feeding needs. (Please keep in mind I am also taking lactation supplements)

The two things I don’t like about these are the following:

-Left pump leaks if I bends forward. Which wouldn’t be an issue since it’s kinda common sense, BUT my right pump doesn’t leak at all. While they both seem to pause if I lean forward for too long, my left pump is the only one that leaks. Which brings a lot of uncomfortably when I’m trying to play or change my baby’s diaper because I’m constantly worrying if I will leak.

-Pumps tend to get hot. I don’t know if this is an intentional feature or if it’s inevitable with machines being at work.

Other than that, these pumps have been a life saver for me. I had an emergency c section and I wasn’t able to breastfeed my baby since my incision was too fresh to withstand his little weight. It broke my heart and as much as I tried to overcome my incision pain, I eventually had to stop trying to breastfeed. I did try to pump, but I would constantly find myself missing those first days with my baby while I was stuck holding the pumps with my hands. My mother and husband were the ones mainly taking care of baby while I was in bed rest. I lost encouragement and chose to see my baby grow out of his newborn phase.

Here I am, my baby is almost 2 months and I’m regaining my milk supply with these pumps. I never thought I would dry up so quickly within just a few weeks of not pumping. These pumps have given me another opportunity at breastfeeding and milk supply. Would definitely recommend to all mothers out there.

P.S. The pause/play buttons are light up so if not covered by your bra it looks like you are iron man biotic breast version! It’s funny in my opinion lol but can easily be covered up by your bra or a little cloth.

There's many differing opinions on this pump. I exclusively use the pumping method to feed my baby, so I use these pumps every day. And have been using them for about 5 months. All in all the elvie works well, but there is a learning curve to keep in mind. Ive had some frustrating moments for sure! It's important to keep the parts clean and dry. You also need to make sure the parts are put together and attached tightly or you will deal with little to no suction problems. If you have an open mind to a little trial and error, you will likely not have too many issues. You can purchase extra parts, so you can always have a spare dry piece on hand if it doesnt seem to be suctioning correctly right off. I love the portability of these. Super easy for road trips, even camping! Be prepared to have charging options as the battery life only last about 2 days, depending on pumping times of course. If there would be one thing to change about these, it'd be the cost. The upfront cost is quite a bit and if you want extra bottles or other parts to go with it, it's all pretty costly.

    Pinches nipples
Pinches my nipples and is touchy. The suction power is great but after 20min my nipple gets pinched a little. Like the length of the item is too shallow for me. I still may return as I need something that I can use without hurting me.

Also if your on the flat side make sure to get really good nursing bra as it will leak all over you otherwise.

    Great so far!
So far, so great! I love this pump for the convenience, mobility, and the app to track my pumps. It’s true that the output reading isn’t always accurate, but as others have stated, nothing is ever really accurate. I’ve been using the Elvie pump for the past few days now, and I even pump more than I ever have. I made the investment after my old reliable, my Ameda Mya Joy, started to give me a few problems. I’m still skeptical about it’s longevity but hopeful. The best addition to this pump and pouring into my Ameda storage bags is the silicon funnels I bought to ensure I don’t spill an ounce from the Elvie storage bottles. The shape is a touch awkward, but the funnel makes up for that. Link below and photo attached.

Love the convenience, worth the price for me
Read reviews and watched YouTube reviews as well. I agree with most folks who like it – just being able to walk around not being tied down to a machine is a game changer!

    Pros:
    Wireless, hands-free, WEARABLE
Enables one to do other things while pumping (I would say “light activities”), so saves time and gives you freedom. I usually sit and eat meals while pumping, do light chores, hold the baby, or lay back in a recliner at an angle and relax.
    Quieter than regular breast pump
Easy to assemble/dissemble, can go in diswasher and sterilizer
For first time mom having trouble breastfeeding, this reduced my stress and I can express milk more often, therefore increasing my supply.
App enables milk amount editing and saves all the info.
App also shows you easy-to-follow instructions on how to use when you first set up your pump.
App enables preferences so you can save your default suction intensities.

    Cons:
Bottle sensors don’t work – I don’t mind this at all because the convenience outweighs the cons. If you lean forward too much it definitely thinks the bottles are full and the pumps turn off. But just open the app and resume. Can edit the milk amounts after the session.
Because of the odd shape of the bottles, it’s basically impossible to pour out every last drop of milk.
Blue tooth disconnects at times so you have to monitor the app to see if it did, or you may notice the pump stops so you have to look to see what’s wrong.
It’s not totally “silent” – I can still hear the pump and squirting sounds when milk gets released into the bottles. I think in an environment where there’s other regular noise and distractions, no one would probably notice except yourself.
I had to buy the 21mm breast shields separately – the pumps come with 24mm and 28mm which are just wasted, I wish they let you choose.
Remember to charge after every 2 sessions so you don’t run out of battery.
If your clothes are too thin, the “headlights” can show. There is a setting to dim the lights in preferences, and with my nursing bra and shirt you can’t see the lights at all.

My little one has a hard time staying awake while breastfeeding. Weighted feeds told me he was only getting 1-2 ounces after an hour of feeding when he needs 3-4. We switched to bottle feeding expressed milk and it made a big difference - much happier baby and mom. I was using the Ameda Mya pump and it did work well but I was trapped on the couch pumping for so much of the day. After a nighttime bottle, I would have to go pump instead of crawling back into bed. I was losing my mind with exhaustion. So, I decided to spend the money to get the Elvie pump. They are GAME CHANGING. I pump while feeding him at night so I can get back to bed sooner. I pump while doing dishes or making dinner. I get more milk in 24 hours because I am pumping more. The parts are super easy to clean and sanitize. It is very quiet and easy to take on and off. I have these to thank for keeping me committed to providing my son with that liquid gold!

These breast pumps are an absolute game changer for a mum on the go. My baby wouldn’t latch and I was on the brink of giving up and moving on to formula but thanks to these innovative pumps it has allowed me to continue to give my little girl my breast milk. Would absolutely recommend! 5 stars.
Also, the customer service from Elvie is amazing.

I love love my elvie pump. I wish they would have invented this when I had my first baby 6 years ago. As a fulltime acute care nurses, finding time to pump when you are so busy taking care of other people and barely have time for yourself. It is so hard to step out and sit down be tied down to cord and pump while your phone is constantly going off due to patient calls. This is a great invention, I can multitask and do my charting while pumping at the same time. The suction power is great, it can even be comparable to the hospital grade medela symphony pump I use while I was in the hospital. I even had to turn the suction down to make it more comfortable for me. You just have to make sure that the seal in the breast flange is completely dry to ensure you get a good suction power. I pump 5-8x day using this pump and I usually charge it every other day. Only con for me is that the milk estimate is not accurate, it is .5 ml off. If you transfer the milk from a regular bottle it is 0.5ml off. For example in the elvie collection bottle it shows 3ml when I transfer it to a Dr. Brown bottle it will only measure up to 2.5ml. Apart from that I love i

    Life Changing
These pumps literally changed my postpartum life and extended my breastfeeding journey. We are in 7.5 months and have a freezer full :).

Two months after my baby was born, I started to pump via the hospital provided pump. I literally felt the life suck right out of me, as I sat and spent 20 mins hooked up to the wall. I started to look at portable pumps and the ease of use and operability from the app sold me on this profit.

I know these are expensive but it only takes a few months to break even on what formula would cost.

I telecommute for work and live in meetings, I can pump right though it. You can’t see or hear the pumps. I just place them and monitor from the app. The customer service for the company is also great, I had every question and issue addressed.

If you re thinking about it, but them! I couldn’t imagine my breastfeeding persisting as long as it has without them.

    GREAT for on the go!
After 5 months of use I have lots of thoughts on this pump. At first I hated this pump because I didn’t know how to properly use it. I was getting minimal milk output. But just like any pump, you have to play around with the settings to see what works for you. I now use this more often AND get more milk output than my plug in pump.

    Pros:
-Hands free, on the go pumping. This is by far the biggest positive about this device. For a working and on the go mom, this has been a life saver. There have been times I would have missed pumping if not for this device.
-Has great suction/pumping power ONCE YOU DETERMINE WHAT SETTING WORKS BEST FOR YOU. I urge you to try different sucking strengths to see what works best. Also, in my experience, wearing a tight fitting sports bra while pumping got the highest milk output. I now get more output from this than from my plug in pump and this only occurred after I found what setting worked best for me.
-Charges quickly. I get about 2.5 20 minute pumps out of a charge but it’s easy to throw on the charger between pumps. Would recommend purchasing a double charging cube and cord so you just plug one cube in to charge both devices.
-It’a quiet. This thing is much more quiet than my plug in pump. You can hear it if you listen closely but cannot hear it on a phone call, etc. It’s very quiet.

    Cons:
-You cannot bend over while wearing these. I repeat DO NOT BEND OVER WHILE WEARING. Milk will spill. I have heard of hacks to get milk to not spill if you bend over but have not tried them.

    Easy but yet complicated...
I gave the pumps 4 stars because they are so so much better than my large corded Spectra pump. I like the Elvie pump because it is portable and I can “do” stuff around the house/work, but to an extent. I have learned you can not lean over or walk much. The pump always leaks when I walk around the house or lean over to get baby. So I take the 10 minutes to do dishes, or read a book with baby or do something slow. There are lots of parts to clean, so there is that. Also after using this for 4 months I have noticed if the seals are not perfectly positioned it will not suction. It is a “quiet” pump compared to the larger Spectra I had.

About the breast shields, they are a fantastic fit compared to the cone shaped ones of the Spectra. Over time my breast shape started to look like a cone (yes i had the right size flange, I was measured), and now using the Elvie, they are normal again!

My pumping time has dramatically decreased with the Elvie compared to the Specta. I was going to a lactation nurse trying to figure out why it was taking so long to flush out, and firstly it was because I was dehydrated, secondly because I was going through Mastitis and thirdly because the Spectra pump does not suction like a baby. With the Elvie, it has a variable cycles of suction length, frequency and so on, and that variability got my letdown going. With the Spectra, I was constantly pushing the “bacon” button to change the suction setting, and that was annoying. And there is no need to suction the heck out of your breast. Suction level is variable, but I never change it from low.

Overall, the Elvie has bettered my pumping life, haha. There are things they could improve, like the leaking. The app is ok. I do recommend it, just don’t have personal experience vs. the Willow.

I got the double pump during a sale and had another discount because it was on my baby registry so I didn’t have to pay so much ! As long as all parts are fitted properly (which isn’t hard to do) it has good suction. It’ll come in handy when I got back to work so for now I use it as I clean up around the house or if i have to run errands that take quite a while and dad is home with baby. Usually if I have bad suction I’ll pause the whichever pump and it’s either the green valve or the pad that sits on top in the hub that just needs to be fixed and i pop it back into my bra and it’s good as new. It does take longer that I would like to charge the hubs but i can get at least 3 pumping sessions back to back for 30 minutes each before I have to charge again. I really love this product after owning it for two months. The noise is pretty quiet, sometimes I’ll pause doing something to try and hear it and I have to strain my ears lol.

I purchased this yesterday 04/04: before purchase I was super excited cause I did my fair of research honestly. For instance, I knew the difference between the Elvie vs Willow vs Medela. Anywho, I actually have the Medela Max flow through insurance and the suction power is amazing but I can’t stand being stuck to the couch lol. So, I decided to go with Elvie instead of Willow due to reviews about being stuck in expression mode.

I received the Elvie and I can honestly say it’s a little underwhelming because as almost most of the reviews say the suction power stinks like really bad. Normally with my Medela I can easily get over 3 oz from each breast in less than 30mins (I’m a over supplier), but with Elvie it took longer than 2 hrs to just get 2 oz. I was like what the? Lol… very happy I paid for only one cause if I bought the double I would seriously blow a gasket. Now when it comes to mobility it’s awesome cause you can move but no bending over or you will lose some of your milk like I did. Stay upright… resist the urge to bend over, do laundry, etc. You can still juggle your baby with the device which made so happy. Another plus no cords or wires or lots of parts very very easy to clean and sterilize. Also hard for baby to kick or punch if they want your attention and somehow upset at the breast pump for taking the space they demand is theirs. Trust me not fun when baby is trying to pry the parts from your body lol like my son does a lot with the Medela bottles. In the end I had to re-pump after the fact with my Medela machine.

Verdict: I say it’s just okay not like the miracle breast pump I thought it would be. Very good choice for when I have to go back to work cause you stick in bra and then you good. But… if you thick you’ll empty your breasts you won’t not with this pump. Grade 3.5 to 4 in my honest opinion. I know this is a long review but hopefully it helps someone out.

Well its definitely cool, though the lights shining through make me feel like Iron man. They showed the pump on the tiniest models ever I went from a 34C to 34G after pregnancy and I look like I have the worst implants in with this on. No way I could wear these in public without drawing a lot of attention 🤣 On to the suction its decent I got 3 oz. from both the first time and the second a little over 2 oz. It's very quiet but the milk trickling down is so loud. I can definitely get things done in this as long as I stand perfectly straight, can't carry baby in this because she would move the pumps and make them lose suction. Is it worth the money? Depends if you exclusively pump like me, I am on the go a lot so not being tied to a wall is very nice and I'll use it for my next baby as well and get my money's worth.

Although it is not silent as advertised I’m still happy with this product and the freedom it provides. You can definitely hear the suction and sound of the milk dripping but if you’re in a location with some noise it will drown it out for the most part. I have been getting more milk using this than my spectra S1.

Hello it’s me again, maybe it was the hormones talking when I previously wrote this review hehe. I went ahead and EBF’d for a couple months and pulled these back out to see how much milk I’m making. I got 7 oz in under 7mins. Idk where I went wrong when I first tried them. I thought I was doing everything right. But now they work just fine and are great for on the go and quiet. And the app is accurate like 70% of the time. Sorry for what I said when I was hungry

Hi this pump doesn’t work. Don’t waste your money. I would have rather thrown $475 in a trash can than dealt with trying to make this work for me. Pretty sure you can’t return breast pumps once you use them so this is really frustrating.

I bought this because it’s hard being hooked up to a wall and having to pump with a toddler and a newborn babe. I am able to pump milk, but it’s not as efficient as my spectra. This would have been so perfect if it was as efficient as a plug in pump! I mainly use it if I have absolutely no time to be stationary for even 20 min. I do not recommend moving too much because mine leaks if I do. And absolutely do not bend over. Learned that the hard way. I do like the convenience. And the idea is a great one. Just not as good as a plug in pump, or baby for that matter.

    So glad I got these!
I was on the fence about buying these. They are so expensive, and there are mixed reviews. Are they worth it?

I have to exclusively pump, so I’m pumping every 2-3 hours.

These pumps aren’t perfect. They leak a little bit (but honestly so does my spectra). I can bend over, do laundry, pick up the baby, etc. and I get small wet spots on my bra. Really not bad considering how much I’m moving.

The app’s production estimate isn’t accurate at all. Not a big deal for me as I know I won’t fill the containers in a session.

For me, these were 100% worth it and I wish I’d bought them earlier. I can’t believe all the time I wasted tied to the wall.

Don't buy it for the App.
Given that there aren’t many options in the market for portable pumps this is the best option I found for my needs.

    Pros:
1- It is more portable than the Spectra I had even though I had the spectra with the battery. With the spectra you cannot hold your baby and you need one hand to carry the heavy pump connected to you at all times.
2- Suction is gentle enough that I haven’t had any issues, yet I do get about the same I used to get with the spectra.

    Cons:
1- It leaks, I thought that for an underproducer like me it would not leak bc I never get the containers passed 2-3 ounces max, but no, it still leaks. I can see obvious flaws on the design, it could easily be improved, hopefully they will in the future.
2- I don’t have to wait for the expression mode and I can go into stimulation when I want. A problem with the Willow apparently since some people cannot get out of stimulation and into expression mode (it’s automatic in the willow and triggered by how much milk is extracted).
3- The app disconnects EVERY SINGLE TIME. It is not reliable at all for quantity of milk expressed or time on the pump. I honestly think the only good thing that came out of it was the ability to customize the time of each mode stimulation and expression. I don’t use it, busy mom’s have no time to deal with this, adds frustration. DONT BUY IT FOR THE APP.

This pump was a game changer! I used to hate going to pump and dragging everything out. Now with this pump it’s so easy I don’t put off or skip a session while I’m at work! I run to the bathroom, put it in my bra, and continue on with my work. I don’t get as much per pump as I do with my Medela however it’s so convenient I don’t even care! The only downside I see is that the app is not accurate on the amount of milk that is pumped. It’s still worth it in my opinion though because I was to the point well I was going to give up breastfeeding and this made me keep going!

    Update:
I had some issues with my first pump but was able to easily replace through Amazon.
My current pump had some leaking issues and I reached out to the Elvie customer service and they’re sending me a replacement bottle.

Couple things to note, as other reviews have mentioned:
The app is terrible. Really terrible. Measurements are incorrect, it’s glitchy, doesn’t save some sessions. I’ve learned you can’t turn the hub off until you actively “save” your session otherwise it freaks out…even turning one hub off makes it do this.
Measurements are typically off, but you are able to edit the amounts before you save the session, so you can get an accurate track of how much you’ve pumped.
Random dates added to history- this one is where the glitchy part comes in. You go to view your history and then see dates like September 4,1953 on there. The app randomly adds dates.
It pauses when you’ve pumped around 4oz, even though the max for the bottle is 5oz.
Removed a star for all the listed things above

I can’t say enough about this pump. After 2 days of using my insurance provided pump, I said F this and pulled the trigger to buy the Elvie. The best decision I have made. I’m no longer a slave to my pump. I can do tasks, walk around and am free from sitting on the couch due to pumping.
Now let’s get one thing straight, you can’t do gymnastics with these things. So the people complaining about leaks from movement, c’mon. Let’s use our brains, it’s still a pump and it’s still liquids we are talking about here. I’m careful with my movements and bending down and have never had a problem with leaks.
It does take some time to get used to latching it on correctly, but once you do, it’s a quick snap and you’re on with your day.
It is pricey, but worth every single penny, especially since you can use FSA.

    Day one: SUCCESS!
I have no experience with other electric pumps, so I have little to compare it to (except a manual pump and a baby) and after reading all the bad reviews I was dubious but hopeful because it seems so convenient.

My first impression was that it’s BIG! I had been expecting something more discreet, but it is like the size of a mango! and a LOT of little parts to clean and keep track of.

That said, once I set it up and used it, it actually DID stay comfortably in place but it is pretty obvious and unnatural under a shirt. It was SO gentle and painless I thought it couldn’t possibly be working, but 10 pain free minutes later I had a full bottle! Very excited about this.

Everything looks a bit fussy and delicate so I will come back and update this after more use, as it’s a big purchase.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersIt works!
I pump a lot. I have pumped a lot in my day. Let me tell you, these rock and they do work! I think those who say it doesn’t work MUST be using the wrong size shield. It comes with 24mm and 28mm. I had to purchase the 21mm, but it’s more efficient!

I pumped exclusively for 4 months after my first born went to daycare. I used the spectra, it works great, but like all pumps you’re stuck for the whole time you pump. Did you know, if you pump 20 mins + it can help increase your production? I was always in a rush to take them off and get back to life that I’d immediately remove my spectra around 10 mins once the milk stopped. I missed the second let down every time and never got much more than 3oz.

With baby number two I was using my spectra, and found myself useless again while pumping. I decided to invest in these, after all they do sell for about $250 used so I figured I can get half my money back. So worth it! i can empty dishwasher while I pump now, do laundry, be on my laptop working comfortable without the fear of maybe opening up a call with my nipples suctioned out into the camera!

I’m not sure the complaints that some don’t get enough milk. I did a couple tests, not only do I get the same amount, but after pumping with these I put on my spectra to see if I’d I got more milk, and I didn’t.

These do have a long way to go. The battery don’t last as long as they promise, but maybe about an hour of pumping? And The measuring of how much milk in the bottle is always off! It tells me bottle full sometimes when it’s not at all. So that’s annoying! But I’m still giving it 5 stars because it’s given me the ability to pump for 20
Mins per session and be productive!

I rinse the parts and put in fridge. Each night I put it all in the dishwasher, and use a second set the next day, just wash my 21mm by hand if needed.

Get them! And make sure you’re using the right shield!

I have a love / hate relationship with these pumps. When they work correctly, they are amazing but they are very fickle. The parts are flimsy and only seem to last about 1 month. Pretty much can’t sterilize them because they warp. If you don’t have all the parts in perfect then they don’t work or if your parts are slightly wore out then they don’t work. Overall idea is amazing but needs more improvement.

I have been having issues with latching so for now I have been exclusively pumping. My lactation consultant recommended this pump for the portability and more freedom since I try to pump every 2-3 hours. I had been using the spectra and I am very sore. Upon the first use of the elvie what a difference! Almost feels like the natural suckle of a baby and doesn’t hurt! I was so used to the other pump it made me wonder if this was even doing anything. Well I am getting more milk than I was before. Yes there are multiple parts to clean and a bit of a learning curve but it is well worth it. I can now be completely hands free and not dread pumping. The app is a bit off in how much milk is in the container but not by much. This pump is a game changer.

So I finally caved and got this after pumping standing up in the bathroom at work every night and then ending up with a clogged milk duct after a crazy 16hr shift where I only got to pump twice. As a rapid response nurse, I never know when I’m going to get called to an emergency and the one pump room is often occupied. The Elvie has made pumping at work and home a dream. And I never thought I’d say that about pumping!!
    1. This pump is definitely not for everyone. After extensive research it seems like the effectiveness of this pump largely depends on your breast shape, nipple, let down, etc. For me, it works BETTER than my Spectra!! It’s less uncomfortable and I get twice as much milk pumping with the Elvie. Definitely not what I expected!
    2. Super portable! I pop them on in the bathroom and then can go chart at the nurses station, drive to pickup my daughter from daycare, do the dishes, indulge in a 15min skincare routine, the options are endless. I wouldn’t do anything crazy, or anything that requires a lot of bending over since I did read that leaks can happen. I try to minimize walking as well since it sloshes the milk around a lot. I’m definitely not coding a patient while pumping, that’s for sure.
    3. It does makes your boobs look massive (this Dolly Parton meet Pam Anderson). Especially since I’m already a 32DDD, the girls look huge with the pumps on. But I wear scrubs at work which are baggy, you could also throw a hoodie or scarf over.
    4. It is not completely silent. Someone sitting next to you could hear it, however, I don’t think it would interfere with phone calls, zoom meetings, etc. I don’t really care and am not shy around my coworkers. I usually just tell them I’m pumping lol.
    5. It comes with lots of pieces! 4 sets of bottles/parts. The only thing there isn’t 4 of is the flange. There are 2 24mm and I think 2 28mm. You could always buy another set of flanges if you wanted though. It also comes with bra extenders which have enabled me to fit them in every bra I own (wired and wireless).
    6. The battery life could be a little longer. I get ~3 20min pumps. But for the size it makes sense that they can’t have a huge/heavy battery. It takes about 2hrs to charge I think, but I can’t say I’ve timed it.
    7. I have read that the battery can crap out or the device can be damaged by milk. Also, that parts can warp over time despite following sanitizing instructions. However, I also read that Elvie has excellent customer service and will replace parts, even the device with a warranty.
    8. One last point, the pieces are similar to my Spectra and it’s about the same time to wash. It just takes some time for them to dry.
Long story short, it’s a gamble, but if they work for you it’s worth every penny. There are lots available on eBay that are open box or someone is selling bc it didn’t work for them. I chose to buy new to ensure that I got the warranty. My stress levels over pumping have decreased dramatically and I am putting more milk in the freezer for my baby.

I love the design for its portability and small profile, however, my units leaks very often even when I tried to limit my movement by just sitting in my chair. It is likely due to the connection between the machine and bottles, which sometimes does not click smoothly. Regardless of the cause, I have not been able to fix it myself nor with the help from Elvie team. Hopefully they can improve this flaw in the future.

    Changed my pumping experience totally.
This pump changed my pumping experience! I was using a normal pump and hated being tied to one spot for 20-25 minutes every 2 hours. It was making me anxious and effecting my milk supply. The Elvie is amazing for letting me walk around and go about my life!

The suction power is great and it being adjustable is nice. They are a bit heavier than I imagined but that could be because I need a more supportive bra to wear it with! I recommend a more supportive bra for sure. They still comfortable though! They’re not completely silent, but they’re pretty close! I wore them to my daughters’ doctor appointment and was able to pump while sitting in the office! Definitely worth the price. At least for me.

Bought this Elvie pump as a gift for my daughter. I was a bit skeptical about the "silent" as we had previously purchased another brand for her other child and it sounded like a milking machine (true to it's name!) and she had to have bottles attached to it. The Elvie slips into your bra and it is totally silent! I was amazed that it was pumping and I was right next to her and had no idea. It's truly hand free and a fantastic option for working (or busy) mothers. It charges rather quickly but although it comes with the usb cord, it does not come with the electrical plug to plug it into the electrical outlet. This may not be a problem but if you are giving as a gift, you may want to include a plug. I would highly recommend the Elvie pump!!!!

I love this pump. Absolutely worth the purchase! It’s incredibly convenient for pumping hands free while doing other things (like caring for your babe!). The only two cons: 1) if you bend over at all, it leaks. Don’t love this as it does limit what you can do. But if you squat down while staying upright, you should be okay! 2) sometimes it randomly won’t suction. This is frustrating, especially when you’ve got one side already going and initiating your letdown. Ugh. But typically pulling the shield in and out or reconnecting the bottle will solve this problem.

I got the Elvie because it’ll be hard to pump at work with my schedule. It’s relatively discreet. I have pumped at doctor appointments, in the car, and when friends/family are over. I have big boobs already and now even bigger with breastfeeding; so when I put in the Elvie I feel a bit more ridiculous but honestly most people don’t notice. There are lights on the pumps that cannot be turned off, only turned down, so if those shine through it is not discreet. But also, who cares? You need to pump and people need to get over it. The battery will still be used when not in use so it is something you have to pay attention to. The breast shields cannot be sterilized the normal boiling way or in the microwave. It warps it. You have to either do cold sterilization or boiling water, let it stand, then put it in for a little.

Golden Review Award: 54 From Our UsersSo worth it...once you get it down its amazing
So I was so on the edge about ordering this product because of the money. I was also very upset when the price changed mid day from a sale and jumped up $100. I had it in my cart…had to step away to take care of the baby and when I returned an hour later the price had gone back to regular price. Neither Amazon nor Elvie would honor the lower price so that almost deterred me from buying.

Set up, cleaning and basic are super easy…total game changed if you’ve ever used a standard pump that takes a while just to get hooked up to and your stuck there with wires.

With toddlers and a newborn I really needed to be able to move about. And this does exactly that.

Things I have learned that will make your life 100% easier and truly enhance your Elvie experience.
-watch YouTube videos. They have great tips and will change you from thinking you wasted your money to realizing you have an amazing product in front of you.

-i bought a double USB charger to have just one less thing to keep up with since I have a double pump

-ANY water left on the product will be your enemy. It must be 100% dry. Cotton balls are amazing for making this happen. If it’s not it won’t seal and pump properly

-if not pumping, disassemble and put back together. It takes just a minute and very worth it.

-charge regularly. The charge lasts about 2.5-3 pumps.

-the app is terribly incorrect on collection amounts but that is not a big deal to me. I love i can control everything from the app including the brightness of the lights, pumping time, adjust liquid amounts…its very detailed. You can even pause and turn on/off from the app.

-you must have a good seal. Your bra needs to be tight and supportive and they must be fully upright. Not hanging down.

Once I learned these small things its been smooth sailing and amazing. I am storing milk for when I go back to work and this is helping get a good starter supply.

Now—-i did have one pump that was not working. It wasn’t pumping. I contacted Elvie who is very quick to respond. I prefer email and they are great at responding. They asked me to try a couple different things to troubleshoot…no problem. When the issue didn’t resolve, they asked for a video…again no problem. I understand they need to validate and try to resolve the issue. When they were unable to repair they helped me with a replacement. This company stands behind its product. In other reviews I read people were irritated with this process but I get they need to try to resolve and confirm the issue before taking next steps especially on an item that shouldn’t be returned after its been used.

I am confident I made the right choice buying this. You won’t regret it should you have trouble using it. Just take a few minutes and follow the tips above and you will find your issues resolved. If not Elvie has great customer service and will help you.

I’m a nurse practitioner who practices in multiple sites (i.e., there is no consistent place for me to pump), and I have a 2 year old at home. After several months of use and returning to work, this pump is worth every penny! It has saved me in so many instances where traditional pumping would not be an option. In 2 20ish minute pump sessions, I can typically express 12-14oz of milk (equal to/more than my baby takes in a day). I can hardly even feel the suction, so sometimes I have had to check to see if I am in fact pumping. Also, the parts are way easier and faster to wash!

Semi-cons: Personally, I think it is too bulky for me to feel comfortable conducting a patient visit. A video visit, sure, but in person, it is too obvious because I am a small person. Also, it is very quiet, but you can still hear it in an otherwise silent room. That said, I have left the house with it attached and pumping. Wearing a circle scarf or a baggy shirt pretty much hides it. There is also room for app improvement…the app’s detection of how many ounces are in the bottles are pretty much always wrong, but since I am aware of this, I am able to keep an accurate record with my medela bottles.

Overall, even with the drawbacks, this pump is amazing, and I highly recommend!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersFirst thing is as long as you have the correct size breast shield it’s perfect. It came with two and even though my boobs are huge i had to drop to the smallest size breast shield which is only sold separately. Once I did that I loved it! I work in customer service industry and I don’t always get scheduled breaks so I go into the bathroom out it in then pump while I work. Yes it does spill if you bend over or lean over when it becomes full enough. Suction power is great. Ever since I started using the correct breast shield it’s been draining my breasts easily. I dint have to sit there and massage my boobs anymore to get it out. It’s super portable. I put everything in a lunch box and it’s super discrete. No one can hear it pumping unless things are dead silent and they are right next to me. It does have awkward lights on the top that shine thru my shirts so I just switched to a different nursing bra and it covers it up so no one notices. This has been life changing for me. I have twins and I wish I would have gotten one of these when I had my other two kids. But this definitely helps me to support my twins healthy appetite.
First thing is as long as you have the correct size breast shield it’s perfect. It came with two and even though my boobs are huge i had to drop to the smallest size breast shield which is only sold separately. Once I did that I loved it! Works decent and does the job!!
First of all, DONT USE THE APP. you dont have to connect to the app to use it. I agree with everyone that the sensor sucks. But I don’t need it. I just empty it when it’s full and reapply.

I bought this just for the fact that I can walk around and do stuff (like going to the bathroom) while pumping. I read the reviews saying the suction isn’t good and that the milk yield is lesser than the traditional pumps but I honestly do not think it’s noticeable for me. The suction is actually pretty strong if you find the right size. I was using the smaller one but realized the bigger one fits me better. That instantly increased the yield! So find the right size! Also I massage my boobs before and during. Heat compress helps too.

Very happy with this game changer!
Fantastic product and a real game changer. As I exclusively pump it gives me a lot of time back as I can now do other tasks while the Elvie pump is doing it thing.
I went from resenting pumping to it overnight becoming just a normal part of my day.
I would recommend buying extra milk holders if you use it a lot as they take long to dry…

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersLOVE IT!! Liberate yourself, momma!!
Take it from an exclusive pumper – Elvie offers serious liberation for working moms & those who like to actually leave the house!! Finding a pump that works for me while I work full-time & play daycare center for my son during the pandemic has been a challenge – I can hold my son during a Zoom call & pump all at the same time. This is an amazing tool for all you super mom’s out there!

Willow is supposed to have more powerful suction, but imho you really don’t need it – Elvie is plenty powerful. I’m used to the suction of BabyBuddha & by using the right sized flanges & clean, dry parts, I’m able to get the same milk output at level 3/4 with Elvie in the same amount of time.

I can’t stress this enough – accurate flange sizing will be the #1 thing that increases your output & comfort level (no one likes nip blisters, am I right?)!! Measure your nipples and make sure you use the corresponding flange or invest in some silicone inserts. It is kind of annoying that I can’t just get the flange size I need included from the get-go vs needing to purchase extra parts (hello, I’m already spending $500, meet me halfway, Elvie!!), but that’s literally my only complaint.

This thing is so portable & super quiet – I’m shocked at the power/output in comparison to my BabyBuddha which is insanely loud. I can carry all the parts I need in my purse (or diaper bag if I have the baby with me). It’s not silent as stated, but it’s impressively quiet. We went on a car ride to get out of the house this weekend & my husband had no idea I was pumping until I pulled the pumps out of my shirt. There’s very little noise when I’m on the phone, too!

I will warn you, you can’t bend forward when you’re wearing this or it WILL leak. But, I can’t do that with any other pump either, so no big deal for me. It wasn’t worth buying a ton of extra parts for the Willow to avoid using single use plastics when I’m pumping what I need and storing very little milk in the freezer.

All in all, Elvie has been life changing for me as an exclusive pumper. I feel like I can be a more present mom & I’m not chained to my house making food for my baby. I’m able to feed my baby breast milk & live a full life at the same time & that’s exactly what I was looking for! 5 stars all the way.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersPros far outweigh the Cons.
I like this pump, however it does have its pros and cons. (Pros far outweigh the cons)

For starters, I work as a police officer, an EMT and am a student. I purchased this pump to be used while I’m away from home but do not have as much privacy as preferred to be able to pump.

    So for the pro’s:
I like that the pump is quiet while working. The first time I ever used it while out and about, was at my mother in laws house. I went to the bathroom to place them in my bra, as I was still learning how to position them correctly and like the privacy of the bathroom to do so. I returned to the kitchen table with everyone else while the Elvie did it’s job. My husband, who knows I use this, never even knew I was pumping. THATS how quiet they are when they work.

The suction is good and I feel I am able to pump as much milk with these pumps as I do my medical-grade Motif Luna. I notice it takes me longer to empty my breasts with these versus the Luna, but I make the same amount. I can empty my breasts completely with the Morif in roughly 6 minutes, it takes between 15-20 minutes with the elvies.

I love the portability of the Elvies as mentioned before. While in class and working on the ambulance the Elvies are nice because they tuck discreetly in my shirt/bra and I can go about my time as usual while they do their work. I sit in class for lectures ans can also drive the ambulance during transport to the hospital while emptying my breasts.

The cons to me are the time it takes to empty my breasts. I’m not sure what’s causing that, however it takes me roughly 3x the amount of time for a pump session with my Elvies than it does my motif pump. For that reason I rarely use the Elvies while working at the PD. I do not get dedicated pumping breaks, so I have to be as quick and efficient as possible and these just aren’t. So that was disappointing.

A second con is that you have to be extremely careful about making sure all pump parts are dry prior to attempting a pumping session. If any of the seals or flanges have any moisture to them the Elvie cannot maintain suction and will pause until the error is corrected.

Overall I really do like the Elvie and the cons are not huge issues for me, as I have a secondary medical grade pump for working at the PD. I have recommended this pump to teacher friends as I feel this will be extremely useful for them.

The Elvies do appear rather bulky while being worn, but I’m rather small stature… 5’0″ and 110lbs. So they do look very large on my chest, but that does not bother me enough to be a deal breaker.

Third, I’ve noticed that the pumps themselves have began to look rather dingy and I have not yet found a way to clean them well.

I have been using these pumps for 3 months prior to making this review.

Overall, I do not regret this purchase and would recommend to others.

Changed my life, great pump, freedom to pumping moms!
I love this pump! After suffering through non portable pumps for months, finally we found this product. My milk supply was low and I couldnt keep breastfeeding. Thanks to this pump I can still supplement my baby with breastmilk. It is so easy to use, you can basically do anything with it ( if you bend down it stops thinking the bottle full but you can press the play button to start again). I think suction power is good, i get similar amounts with medela. Well even if you get a bit less, nothing worths being chained in a couch for 6-8 times a day. I need to be honest the pump got broken with no reason twice in 6 months. But we reached elvie and they overnighted a new pump, great customer service overall.
Strongly strongly recommend, worths all your penny

Awesome product !!! it holds a charge for awhile I only charge mine every two days the suction doesn’t hurt the app is amazing and tracks my milk for me incase I forget.

Bought two sets (4 units) of these for my daughter so she could have one on charger and use one when at work. So far one unit had to be returned and one is not charging correctly. But now for the good! Wonderful for pumping on the go. The heat messages they sell are the bomb according to her! Thank goodness I could afford two sets so she can still be able to pump on the go.

Great pump! Love the freedom to move around!
This is a great breast pump! I started the medela pump in style advanced, which is a great pump, but I couldn’t stand being tied down to the external pump. My little one doesn’t nurse well, so I’m pumping a lot. The Elvie allows me to do things around the house while I pump. I find the suction as good as the medela. As others have stated, the app is very wonky. It loses connection to the pump often, even if I’m standing right by my phone, and it often has the volume estimate wrong. But, you can save your pump settings, and you can edit the milk volume after each pumping session, so for me, it’s a nice log of when/how much I pumped. Cleaning the parts is no more time consuming than cleaning the medela parts. It is very quiet (sometimes my husband doesn’t even hear it running), and fits easily in m bra, however, it is quite obvious when I’m wearing it as it at least doubles my breast size. Overall, I highly recommend it, esp if you are someone who doesn’t like/have the time to sit still and pump with a traditional pump.

Update: I still love this product! I’ve been using it for about 2 months now, several times a day. I recently had noticed that the suction was diminishing, so I just replaced the rubber pump seals and it made all the difference. I had read somewhere to replace elements like valves/membranes every month.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThe convenience is worth the hefty price
I normally use the Spectra 2 for my normal pump sessions. I am a working mom so I decided to use the Elvie during my commute and at work and to use the Spectra when I am at home. The Elvie has been amazing and the suction is great. Mind you, these factors such as suction, power, and use may be different for everyone but for me personally, the suction is a bit strong for me so I have to put it on the lowest setting (for reference, I place the suction on 3 expression mode on my Spectra for about 25-30 minutes and I’m squeezing aggressively). I use the Elvie for 20 minutes and I swear, I pump more than on my Spectra. Overall, I am so happy with the Elvie and the price is worth it for the convenience. I believe that since this is a relatively newer product, their technology and quality will only increase in the next few years. Their customer service is amazing also (it’s a 2 year warranty). One of my pumps was not charging or turning on and they replied extremely fast and had it shipped to me within a day. Super happy customer!

    **Update**
The one con to this is that I wasn’t able to figure out how to fix the settings to where it will keep a constant suction level the same. I would sit there and all would be fine and then all of a sudden the suction level would crank up and geez it would be so painful. I would have this on for about 20-25 minutes and it does this religiously twice. So basically I have to sit there and watch it and when it cranks up, I have to lower the suction level.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersMakes life easier for a mama of 2!
**Modifying my review that I originally wrote (below). So this pump is still good, but I’m knocking off a star because I’m frequently having to take the pump and parts apart because it’s not suctioning (Which is SO annoying when you’re in a rush)… if you look on YouTube you will see tips for what to check when this happens. Almost every time I empty out the milk and put it back to pump more, I have to readjust this pump a couple times, and it only holds 3-4 ounces at a time. Like someone else said- the green part for the actual suction has to be COMPLETELY DRY to work, and it usually gets a tiny bit wet from the pumping I suppose? My spectra will pump a couple extra ounces out after this. It is convenient for a quick little milk release, but for the price. Meh. Overall I suppose, I’m still happy I have it.

    *************************************
I LOVE this. I have a newborn and a 2 year old and this has been so helpful. Chasing a toddler and breastfeeding a newborn can be close or impossible at times and the Elvie makes it very manageable. I bought 1 and really don’t see a reason for 2 unless you are primarily pumping or need to for quick sessions like at work, etc. I put it on my breast and get our life together and when I’m done getting us ready, boom… I have a bottle or two for on the go or for someone to feed my little princess.

Yes, the measurements are slightly off and the app measurement can be a little off but I truly don’t care, as long as it’s actually getting my milk out, I’m good. This was money well spent! The parts are dish-washable (when I had the medela pump first baby, I was constantly having to clean every little piece by hand- annoying & time consuming). I have the spectra now too and that is an awesome pump but still, you’re stuck to a cord in the wall. The Elvie is SUPER quiet and surprisingly stays on well in my bra as long as I’m not moving around too crazily. It does fill up semi fast but it’ll stop and you can just empty very easy. The suction isn’t too bad; I have a high pain tolerance I guess there so the level 7? (I think it is) is just enough for me to work up to.

I wish I had this with my first baby… so if you want to breastfeed and you’re a busy mama (who isn’t?) and debating this, GET it.

    Good luck mamas!

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersThis was an expensive product that I feel is worth every penny!! Its extremely portable, easy to use (even with only 3 hrs sleep) and quiet. It's true the app is crap but you don't need it to appreciate the convenience and functionality of the pump. I was originally considering the willow pump which has similar features and price, however I like that the elvie came with the reusable milk storage where as the willow It's an additional $50. I was worried at first about the shape of the milk storage containers. I was afraid it would be difficult to pour into freezer storage bags or bottles but I have yet to spill a drop, no funnel needed. I hope one day this will be the new standard for pumps because it is so liberating!

    Total game changer!
While these pumps are expensive they are so worth it. I am able to pump while driving, cooking, watching my littles and not having to worry about being attached to a cord/wall, and even at night while my husband and baby are sleeping.

    A few tips:

Be careful when sterilizing the flanges/breast shields. I had one set warp but Elvie customer service is AMAZING… they sent a replacement set right away. After warping the first set I boiled water, turned the heat to low and only sterilized for 4 minutes. The second set turned out fine.

If there’s an issue with the pump check out their troubleshooting guidance on their website. I had an issue with the suction, followed their advice (the valve wasn’t properly seated) and haven’t had any issues since.

I use this as a supplemental pump, mainly during the day time when it’s not convenient to just sit and pump in one location for 30 min (nearly impossible as I have a newborn and a 2 year old). The suction is not as strong as my Spectra pump, but it is good enough to get milk out throughout the day. I use my stronger pump first thing in the morning and at the end of the day.

Overall, a tad expensive…. but for me, we’ll worth it!

    Exclusive pumpe
Very happy with the elvie! I exclusively pump for my newborn and started looking into portable pumps after two weeks. Happy I could add it to my baby registry and get 15% off. I love that I can go about my day doing dishes, laundry, changing diapers, vacuuming and any other mommy tasks. It doesn’t completely replace my medela pump, Which I now use mainly at night when I don’t have things to do. With one charge I can get four 30 minute sessions. Only negative is the app it’s great that you can control suction speed and let down mode and see the battery life and your pumping timer. It does not accurately measure how much you are pumping out, but when you finish your session you can adjust your output manually if you want to keep an accurate count.
Well worth every penny and highly recommend.

This product is very portable and has great suction power. I first started using it with the app to monitor how much I'm pumping into the attached containers but noticed that you have to keep still and be sitting upright for the "pods" to sense how much breast milk you have in each pod. Watching how much I have pumped so far on the app just made me anxious and because of this, I ended up just using the buttons on the pods itself to pump rather use the controls on the app while I pump. The app is easy to use and it lets you keep track of how much you've pumped previously. The parts are easy to clean but they're so small that it's a chore to hand wash them like I do because I pump every 3-4 hours. Overall, it's a great product because you can be hands-free.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersUsing for almost 2 months now and I absolutely love the Elvie. I had some dislikes at first- one or the other would lose suction randomly, wasn’t getting As much milk as I did with my Ameda Finesse electric pump, when taking them off there was always milk all over the shield and it would drip out and go to waste. I was using the 24mm. After meeting with a lactation consultant and learning my correct nipple shield size for breast feeding I thought maybe I needed a smaller shield for this too so I came and ordered the 21mm shields and like magic- no more problems! I get just as much if not more than with my Ameda pump, no milk wasted, and I haven’t had them lose suction once since switching. It makes my time more productive, especially when he’s sleeping and I don’t have to be tied to my plug in pump. We moved across country when baby was a month old and I could easily pump in the car. I can even lift him in and out of his bassinet/swing/wherever if he wakes up or I’m pumping with him there. I have not been able to successfully nurse at this point so I pump A LOT and I don’t think I could do it without this product. Definitely worth the investment for us.

I am thankful for this truly hands free pump. I have been exclusively pumping for 10 weeks. I would not have made it this long without my Elvies. However, this product is flawed. I can’t lean to far back or bend over/at all or milk will spill out. The suction is weak even at its highest setting. Simply walking around or using my arms (i.e. to tie my hair up) will cause the suction to break. However, it’s easy regain suction (just need to push and hold it until the Elvie can get my nipple). One pro is they give you more freedom than a wall pump and they do work well! They completely empty me.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersGame changers!!
I deliberated over this purchase for ages so thought it might be useful to write a review in case others were having the same thoughts as it is such a lot of money! I splurged out on the double one and it’s been great, total game changer.
I was finding pumping so flipping depressing being plugged in for 20 minutes (or 40 if doing both breasts in morning) and not able to move and I started dreading every time I had to pump and came across this. The Elvie does have very mixed reviews (mainly price and that you can’t bend over with it as it’ll leak though that would apply to all pumps), it’s not cheap at all but I figured for us we’d use it for a growing family and just for my mental state it’s been totally worth it.

It’s an extremely sleek design. It can be a bit fiddly to get the hang of but once you’ve got it, you’ll never look back. Key tips are to make sure all parts are completely dry after sterilising and to make sure the valve on the bottle is over the lip of the main hub. Every time I use them I just slide a nail to ensure the valve tip is over the lip in the hub not under it. I love the fact it’s silent too and personally I’ve been able to pump as much as, if not more, than the previous auto pump I had. Although note it’s normal to express a large amount of milk first thing in the morning and only a fraction of that at the end of the day. In regards to comfort I find it as comfortable as you can get whilst expressing and I only use it on a low setting and still get good volumes.

If I had to point out any negatives, obviously the price is expensive and the hubs take 2 hours to fully charge but for me the freedom the pumps have given me have justified the cost and as long as you get into a habit of regularly charging the pumps then you won’t have an issue.

I was able to make AND drink a hot tea the other day, change a nappy, change the steriliser water and eat breakfast all whilst expressing!

Absolutely hands down the best purchase I have made for myself post baby! And I regret not buying it sooner!!! I work in medical care, 5 days/week in a busy clinic. I was only getting a chance to pump twice per shift and my supply was decreasing. Because I exclusively breast feed, I took the risk and spent the money on this double pump. SO GLAD I DID! Just wow! I’m able to now pump 3x per shift and getting 15-17oz total to bring home to my baby! Although it’s not entirely silent, there is a slight mechanical sound, I have still worn it in a patients room. I’m just blown away at how happy I am with this purchase and how it has made my life SO MUCH BETTER not being connected to hoses and attachments. Now...I’ve only used it now for 3 days...if anything changes my opinion, I will most certainly update my review. But as for now...mamas, buy this now!!!

The convenience of this pump is unmatched. I love being able to pump wherever. I’m able to still hold and change my baby when needed. The app that goes along with it allows for you to keep track of how much milk you’re expressing in real time. I love that feature. However, There are some draw backs.. placement of the flanges to get the suction needed for expression is a major pain. Even after using this pump only for over a month it still takes me several attempts to get the placement needed. You’re also not able to bend or lay back while using this which puts a damper on the things you can actually do while pumping. Overall I’m enjoying this product and would definitely recommend it.

You’re also not able to bend or lay back while using this which puts a damper on the things you can actually do while pumping. Overall I’m enjoying this product and would definitely recommend it.

Overall good product but has some minor flaws. Positives first. Love that i can fold laundry and wash bottles without being tied to a wall. It is pretty easy to use as long as you follow instructions. I can also play with the baby while pumping or make dinner. The flaws are the app, shield size and price. The app disconnects easily and when it reconnects it doesn't upload volume. Largest shield size is 28mm. I am a 30mm in my regular pump so it does get painful. Final is extra parts as extremely pricey.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI'm no longer tethered to an outlet!
I breastfeed my 3-month-old every 2-3 hours so the moments we have in between feeds and naps are precious. I bought this pump because I want to store milk, but I don’t want to be attached to an outlet and lose time with my baby.

I am able to get the same amount of milk when pumping with the Elvie in between breastfeeding sessions as I do with my Spectra. Although it takes a few more minutes with this pump to get the same amount of milk, I’m not tethered to the wall. I will also be able to use this pump more often and get more milk for storage because I can actually move around with it. I rarely use my Spectra because I hate not being able to move.

One downside is the price. This product is way too expensive. It is also not discreet as its lights shine through my shirts and it makes me look like I’ve grown several cup sizes. I’m petite so I look ridiculous wearing it. I’d definitely wear a big, thick sweater if I were to go out in public while using this pump.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI wish I would have bought these sooner. They are easy to use, easy to clean (although it takes about 3 full min due to all the parts) and so convenient. I use them at work and it allows me to not be gone pumping for so long. The suction is plenty strong and I feel like they empty my breasts more than my Ameda pump did. They are not completely silent, but they’re really quiet. I do feel like they will spill if I bend down fully, but they are great for walking and doing most tasks while they’re pumping. They are expensive, but I’m glad I spent the money on them. However, with spending that much money it would be nice if a charging plug was included. The cords were included, but not a plug for the outlet. I highly recommend these breast pumps.

Highly recommend this pump especially if you don’t have time to just sit and pump.
I really like this pump! I had a Medela for my first son. I’ve heard that the Elvie isn’t as strong, but I only have it at a five and haven’t needed to turn it up. The Elvie is so much more convenient than a regular pump and much less like a piece of farm equipment than traditional pumps. I’ve been using it for about 3 weeks.

I use it primarily for relief from pressure when my newborn isn’t hungry as well as a occasional bottle for daddy to feed in the middle of the night. I love that I can walk around while pumping and take care of my toddler. It’s very quiet and pretty discreet.

I like having the app to track my output. The tracking is not overly accurate on its own, but I can readjust that before finalizing the pumping session. I did have some trouble with a bit of a loss of suction recently but I followed the super helpful troubleshooter on their website, and I had one piece caught up.

I have no complaints! I highly recommend this pump! If you’re unsure, go for it. I looked at it on another website that says they check and charge your insurance for you but it was way more expensive. I contacted my insurance and they said I could buy it online and submit a claim. My insurance reimbursed the full price minus tax once I submitted the claim so that made it even better!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersOverall great product!
My youngest needs fortified breastmilk, which involves some pumping on my end in addition to nursing. I also have a very busy two and a half year old, which makes being tied to a wall VERY challenging. Additionally, I plan on pumping when I return to work as a teacher in the fall. I needed something that would allow me to multi-task. I have used the Freemie cups in the past, but the idea of being handsfree and cordless was especially appealing. I have been using these for about a week and I absolutely love them. The suction is just as good as my Spectra and I get plenty of milk from them. They are easy to clean as long as you don’t have a leak (see below). Some reviewers have said there is a learning curve with aligning them on your nipples. I am use to Freemies and so I had no issue with that. It also comes with a lot of helpful directions. The best part is I am free to empty the dishwasher, cook dinner or play with my toddler. Time is precious!

The only negatives I have found are with the app and some leakage. You have to be really careful not to bend forward with these. Otherwise milk will leak out the release button. When they do leak, it’s a little challenging to clean and I worry that I am doing a thorough job. The app is also useless. It takes some time to setup each session and I find it’s just as easy to control things on the actual pumps. So I don’t bother connecting it when I am pumping.

Overall, these are worth every penny! I highly recommend for the busy, working mom!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGreat quality pump, easy to clean, minor critiques
I don’t think I’d be able to pump without the Elvie. I work in a job where taking breaks to breastfeed would be virtually impossible, and this product allows me to pump while continuing to work. As a plus, cleaning it is super easy and takes me about 2 minutes after each session. The app allows you to control suction and stop/start the pumps. These pumps are lightweight and fit nicely into all my nursing bras without the extenders.

The only comparison I can offer to other pumps: I used a Medela hospital grade pump a couple times in the hospital before switching to the Elvie. I got way more colostrum from the Elvie, which surprised me quite a bit, but may just be because I was unfamiliar with the Medela. I got the Freemie through my insurance, have only used it once as cleaning is more difficult and the pump is heavy. Milk production was similar between Freemie and Elvie, but I prefer the Elvie for all the reasons discussed.

Two critiques. First, the containers are not accurate compared to my other measuring devices. The app is also not accurate in recording actual volume. Second, if you don’t have a tight suction, it will leak when you bend over, so I’d recommend squatting and not leaning with these in place.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersWorth the high price tag!
I received a Hygeia breast pump through insurance which was a huge disappointment. It was bulky, did not have a letdown function, and had odd shaped bottles that were hard to transfer milk in and out of.

During my maternity leave I exclusively breastfed, so it wasn’t until I was about to return to work that I really started to worry about pumping. I went back and fourth on trying to decide if I wanted to switch to formula or invest in this pump. I’m so glad I spent the money on this because I now can confidently say I will continue to breastfeed my baby through the 1 year mark!

The pump is easy to assemble and can be controlled from the buttons on the pump or through the Elvie app. The shape of the bottles makes cleaning very easy and I find the spout ideal for pouring milk into freezer bags or other bottles.

When I’m wearing the pump, you can barely hear the suction and the pump stays in place when I’m doing other errands or taking care of the baby. I’ve even gone on a 3 mile walk while pumping! As far as output, I seem to get as much milk as I do with a traditional pump, but without the uncomfortable pulling and tugging.

The only downfall to this pump is that the battery seems to drain quickly, so when I’m at home as soon as I get done pumping I place the pump back on the charger. For a work day with 3-4 30 minute pump sessions, the battery is almost all the way drained by days end.

If you are contemplating buying this pump but are stuck on the high price point, I would say go for it. You won’t have any regrets and the price of this pump pays for itself in the convenience of being able to be hands free while pumping.

Excellent for the mother who has very little time.
SO baring in mind that this is our first electronic breast pump, this is a review based solely on the Elvie breast pump, and NOT a comparison.

Straight out of the box, it looks very impressive, its clean and cool looking and very high tech. We had looked at some pumps and this definitely looked the best, their promotional videos were also highly persuading. Setting them up was really easy, although it took 4 or 5 times for the pumps to upgrade firmware through the app.

The app is really good, AND really bad. Its great for showing you how to set up the pump and the app looks very impressive. From here you can control the timing and speed of the pumps. You can switch them on through the app, and control the level of pumping, and even switch from one breast to another and the press of a button, this is super handy. Where the app lets itself down though, is accuracy. it’s not very accurate, but that’s only a small problem as I was more impressed at the functions for switching on and off and timers.

As far as wearing them, they are comfortable enough, and largely unassuming, not completely unnoticeable, but handy for when you are shopping or having coffee just to let it pump away.

As far as pricing is concerned, I am not sure if they are worth 450 pounds, but to a mother who literally has no time on her hands, she may think these are a godsend. But for us, they are just a nice toy. They work well, pump away while you are busy doing other stuff, and come apart for quick cleaning and are easily placed back together. Just make sure to pop them on charge for a while, every night if you can, but certainly every other day.

I decide to splurge because it is very difficult to find time to hook up to my hospital grade pump when my hands are always full with my twin boys (7 weeks old). I’m still deciding if it was worth the investment $$$. There is a big learning curve to figure out the right placement and fit in order to have a good pump session. It has less suction power compared to my spectra but still effective. With this pump I’m getting less output on one side and more on the other. Elvie claims to be silent but you can hear the suction and a little clicking noise. I was hoping to wear this during meetings but I think the noise will be a distraction. Overall, It’s really nice to be hands free and to be able to pump discreetly.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersExcellent concept, execution needs fine tuning
Pro’s: These pumps really are incredibly quiet. The shape of the pumps allow for easy adherence to the breast during pumping sessions (and make it look like you went up 2-3 cup sizes). They are pretty comfortable, considering the premise, and very very easy to clean. The value in the freedom of mobility these pumps give you is not to be underestimated!

    However.

Con’s: the Bluetooth connectivity to the app can be frustratingly inconsistent. Yes, it’s easy enough to adjust manually but if I am out in public I’d rather not dig around in my bra (there are plenty of weirdo’s out there). The battery life is mediocre, and deteriorates quickly once you get into a schedule- the pumps used to last 3-4 20 minute sessions, and after a week and a half we’re down to 2-3 20 minute sessions. I have a medela electric pump as well, and the suction is more comfortable at higher levels than the Elvie, and all around more efficient.

Conclusion: Elvie will get the job done but she will not be your star employee- more like the high school student working part time for gas money.

Golden Review Award: 278 From Our UsersElvie WINS vs. Willow (I own both)
Let me start by saying I paid out of pocket for BOTH a willow and elvie pump- so this is completely unbiased.
I purchased the Willow and right off the bat constantly had issues with it. I purchased both the reusable bags option and the configuration to pump into the reusable containers. I can’t tell you how many times I contacted customer service due to the pump being unreliable, it was always something -and one of the 2 pumps was eventually replaced by Willow. I also mention I ordered all 3 available sizes of flanges to make sure sizing was correct. My biggest issue with the Willow is it truly decides when it wants to work( ESPECIALLY with the reusable containers- customer service admitted to me these are still very much a work in progress And I would say that’s an understatement), I’m an exclusive pumper so skipping a pump session due to the pump not working just isn’t an option for me. I can’t just skip a session if the pump doesn’t work- so I constantly had to have another standard pump near as backup (doesn’t that eliminate the point of it!?!) There were so many times where the willow would never switch from stimulation to expression despite meticulously following instructions from Willow and having coaching consultation with them. Also the willow is significantly louder and larger (so if you are small or have a small frame- unless you are wearing a jacket it looks absolutely absurd and ridiculous. I would say the elvie is near silent and the willow is pretty much in line with the volume/sound of a standard pump- maybe just a bit quieter.
The elvie- works every time, I literally have yet to have an issue with it. Is so quiet and small that I wear it when I’m working and no one can ever tell even when they are standing right next to me. You could wear this with thin clothing and it doesn’t look ridiculous like the willow. Far fewer/easier parts than the willow is a huge bonus as well.

As far as comfort- I’m not at all sensitive- but the willow made me bleed so many times even when using the lowest pump setting and again- wasn’t a size issue as I owned all 3 size flanges to find the perfect fit.
My only regret is not getting the elvie sooner. I absolutely despise the willow- and wish I didn’t waste my money on it (not cheap). In my opinion there are 0 advantages of the Willow over the Elvie, not even 1!!!!!!!

Golden Review Award: 366 From Our UsersGreat for convenience, but won't replace my spectra
Okay, so I LOVE these for the convenience factor. When I have a meeting or need to be on the road for work, these are a life saver (so I’m not having to miss 30 minutes to go pump). Also came in handy at my husband’s work party (I didn’t have to have that awkward conversation with anyone asking where I could go pump and I didn’t have to miss any of the party).

There are pros and cons of this pump, but I find it much better than willow or freemie (though if I couldn’t afford this one, freemie is a good choice as long as you make sure the tube goes ALL the way into the cup).

    1) App:
The app is not accurate at all for volume. It is great though for being able to control the pump (go from stimulation to expression/vise versa to trigger multiple letdowns.

    2) Battery:
lasts about three 30 minute pumps for me. I bring a portable power bank to charge it in my bra lingerie carry case I keep the pumps in, so they can charge between pumps.

    3) Output:
I don’t get the same output as my spectra sadly :'( If I go my normal every 3 hours while at work, I won’t get emptied (I can hook up to spectra right after and get an extra 1-2oz). BUT I’ve found the work around to this is if I pump every 2 hours with the elvie. This is more cumbersome because I have way more parts to wash, but I’ll bring home the same amount of ounces for the sitter the next day. Also, lavie massage warmers tucked in my bra between the elvie and my armpit help (I use heat only while at my work desk, vibration if I’m on break, because they’re pretty loud).

    4) Comfort/fit:
MUCH more comfortable than willow in terms of suction. I never go above a 4 on my spectra and the elvie is comfortable for me suction wise (willow felt like it was going to rip them off).
The smallest shield elvie makes is a 21mm and I use a 17 on spectra, so I turtleneck beaugen cushions to get a better fit (see pic).

    5)How they look/sound:
Quieter than willow (sounds like an ink jet printer) and smaller. The loudest part about elvie is your milk trickling into the bottles. Some people have issues with the power lights shining through clothes, but if I have a black bra on it doesn’t (or you can just wear a sweater or scarf to hide them).

Overall, I really am glad to have these for the convenience of no wires. Makes being a full time working mom less stressful 🙂

    It's not perfect but close
This is a product that at its large price tag I wanted to fall. In live with but sadly didn’t. It is very very well Made and good hought out and certainly is near enough silent however it does take some serious practise to get the suction right to ensure a good seal With no leaks and even then didn’t always pump alot for me. Comfortable to wear ( well as much as they can be) and easy to wear under clothes but just bear in mind buying the single pack Will leave you lopsided looking so I would advise of you can afford it buying the pair. Recharge time isn’t too bad but again be sure of your schedule and you can’t pump while you charge. All in all I think it has some great points but somethings still need a little work.

Comfortable, quiet, life can carry on while expressing wahoooo
Love it, yes expensive but totally worth the pennies. I struggled to get a good supply but wearing this most of the day managed to increase my supply to feed my twins! The design is great it’s very comfortable to wear although a light can be seen through tops. Getting a perfect seal is highly important but there are plenty of videos online to support and help this. The suction is great I love the fact it stops when it is full… and the fact your not attached to a machine. I was still able to do all the normal mummy jobs and express too.

    A gamechanger for pumping
After ten months of breastfeeding my daughter (and a year of breastfeeding my first) I never thought I would gush about a breast pump. I really dislike them, and although I was a prolific pumper with my older daughter, I have barely touched one the second time around because of bad experiences – damaged nipples, blocked ducts, the drudge of holding a funnel to my boobs and being stuck in the same position for ages, only to get a few mls of milk out. Ugh, just not worth it.

When i got an offer to try the Elvie I was really intrigued by the hands free element – imagine the freedom, definitely too good to be true, and the price is eye watering compared with other pumps.

I recently had a girls night away so brought it along to try; I was sharing a room with my friend who is also breastfeeding so we both gave it a try and were genuinely blown away by it. It is so easy to set up, no wires, just a small breast-shaped motor with two milk collection attachments with little valves on them. Each pump works independently from the other so you can have them both working at different strengths etc. Neither of us needed a specially sized breast shield like other pumps. It is so simple, just point the nipple into the centre of the shield, and tuck the motor into your bra. I’ve had to use the strongest setting for milk removal on other pumps as they’ve just been so useless, but I only went for the low setting on this. Literally press the button and forget about it. I brushed my teeth, got ready for bed, all the while chatting away to my friend, completely oblivious that the pump was working away in my bra, apart from the regular gushes of milk flowing in. It is so comfortable, a million times more comfortable than other pumps, there is literally no comparison, this is in a league of it’s own.

And the best bit is the speed, after five mins I had already collected a few oz of milk.. Amazing. My friend had been away from her daughter for longer and actually collected 10oz. That is an insane amount of milk to collect from a pump, especially in such a short period of time.

I came home from the weekend away completely converted back to pumping. This pump would have given me such freedom if I had it when my daughter was younger as it would have been so worthwhile pumping if I had it. Such a breeze. I genuinely cannot recommend it enough; if you are already considering one of the more expensive pumps then its worth seeing if you can stretch to this; pumping is such a miserable experience, but not with this.

What I’ll also say about this double version of the pump is that even though two pumps allows you to express milk on both boobs at the same time, I found it to be so quick and efficient that I’m not sure it would be worth getting the double over the single, unless you plan on exclusively pumping.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersBrilliant for busy mums
I have taken a little while before writing this review as I wanted to give it a good try before giving my opinion.
First of all, this pump is so much quieter than a regular breast pump. They are completely ‘wireless’ so you can just pop them inside your bra to discreetly pump wherever you are – even at work. Traditional pumps are just loud, uncomfortable and inconvenient as you have to stay in one place – attached to the wall.

The pumps come with a bra adjuster as you will need a fair bit more space in your bra to make room for the two pumps. You need to make sure the two pumps are tightly attached to your breasts so you maybe want to wear an extra tight nursing bra to make sure they stay in place properly and you don’t end up pressing them against your breast with your hands as that would totally defeat the point of the wearable pump.

There is a very easy to use app to control the pump. The pumps are battery powered and last for around 3-4 sessions depending on how long you pump for. The battery charges via a USB cable so if you haven’t got time to wait for it to charge (while traveling for example) you can just use a portable battery pack to charge them. There are quite a few parts that you need to give a clean regularly but I suppose most pumps have this. Included in the box are two little pouches for carrying around the pumps and keeping them clean.

Portability is by far the best thing about this pump – you don’t have to be attached to a wall while pumping, it’s very freeing. These pumps make it possible to do things you wouldn’t normally be able to do while pumping. Like continuing to work or make your other children lunch while you pump. This is absolutely brilliant and life-changing. A great option for very busy moms.

However, there is a difference between this pump and a ‘regular’ pump. I have noticed that the suction just isn’t as strong and I don’t get as much milk out as I would with a regular pump. So if you haven’t got your baby around in the morning or evening (a.k. haven’t got the chance to make sure your breast are completely emptied by your baby) this might not be the perfect pump for you. But if you just need to pump milk while at work or while away for part of the day this is ideal so you can to both at the same time.

The current price tag of 449 pound is very steep, but this pump does fill a massive gap in the market for those working mums and I believe for some it will be worth every penny. It is also worth mentioning that the Elvie pump is a ‘closed system pump’. A closed system pump has a barrier between the milk collection kit and the pump mechanism to prevent contamination by bacteria etc. This means they are much easier to sell on – as most people looking for second-hand breast pumps will look for a closed system.

    Great Pump
My partner tested this and feedback is coming from her. As we were completely new to the parenting, we didn’t try any breast pump brand before and were amazed of how amazing this is. The fact that you can go unnoticed is amazing.
We had a good clear before first usage, as we are bacteria freaks and avoiding them as much as possible. We had to read the instructions several times and had a right faff with the app, but once you are use to it, is the best method of breast pumping. Showing the history and even stop pumping once the bottle filled up. Amazing that you can go for your business around the house or simply hold/feed/change the nappy of your baby while the pump works in the meantime.
Another advantage is the portability and can fit in the bra, making your breast look rather bigger though, so I didn’t dare wearing it out public yet, just around the house. You can wash the components easily and you get a lot of different accessories with the pump. While tested the double pump, I must say that I wasn’t too keen on the feeling both of my breast getting pumped in the same time so I ended up using just one side and kept swapping 1-2hourly. So having the double pump was not so much worth for me, While the product itself is amazing, only used 1-2 week yet, as a newbie now, I would only go for the single pump version, due to the high price and since I was not using them both in the same time anyway too much.

I’m not sure why this has a lower rating than the single version does, it’s a fantastic breast pump in our experience. It’s discrete and pretty much silent which makes it perfect for returning to work or study as you can be totally discreet and yet pump under your clothes if needed. (especially in a lecture )

It’s small and lightweight, easy to use and has proved to be a great find for us. Have no hesitation in recommending this. Only advice would be to look out for any price offers as it really is very expensive

This review is for the double Elvie silent pump. The product arrived well packaged and on time.

My wife has used a number of pumps over the years from manual to auto. She absolutely loves this one! In comparison to other brand she has rated the comfort and ease of use the best for this.
She was especially impressed with the smart features and how quiet the pump is.

She has already recommend to a few of her NCT friends who are also looking to purchase. The only down side is that it is fairly expensive however she does say it is worth it.

    Best pumps EVER!!!
This pump is fantastic, it makes pumping feel less of a hassle as you are able to carry out your regular daily activities whilst slipping this into your bra, just ensure you stay upright to prevent any leaks.

It is also very quiet so if you want to be discreet whilst you’re pumping.

This double pack is even better than the single pack because it allows you to pump both breasts at the same time, rather than taking it in turns,

This is most definitely ideal for any busy mother.

    Expensive but worth the money
Elvie breast pump is a new and beautiful innovation. There are some very very good things, others a bit less which I am sure they will go and renew them in the next few months or years.

The breast pump comes half installed. You would need to choose another part depending on the size of your nipple and insert.

You can charge it by USB. I am charging it more or less once a day and it lasts for all the feed I do in a day. It fits in a bra which is very handy and you can carry it everywhere without needing to be stuck where a plug is. What I do is I carry milk storage bags as well where I can put milk in once it is pumped.

Very comfortable to wear. On the instructions it says it does not need to be sterilised every each use but personally I do since that it is advised to sterilise things before reaching at least 6 months of age of the baby. Of course do not wash the body of the pump, I am talking about the accessories

There is a ring inside the pump which is a bit delicate and you would need to be careful not to break it.

With two children (a 3 years old and a 5 months old) this pump is marvellous. I am on my own, no family around and I save lots of time with this. It seriously changed my life. Expensive but worth the money.

    * BPA Free Plastic, lithium polymer battery, internal electrical circuit
    * The washable components are dishwasher safe
    * Comes with four bottles
    * 2-year warranty on the Hub (pump mechanism) and a 90-day warranty on the washable components
    Cons:
    * Price. Its great pump and worth every penny, but anyway negative for me so far is a high price.
    * The app needs work, sometimes loses connection to the pump, but reconnects and works fine
I love this pump, it’s awesome, its a great help especially when you returning to work. So comfy and you can pump on the go. There’s plenty of tutorials on Elvie, once fitted correctly it works like a dream.
You will not regret this purchase! Amazing pump.
Worth the money and highly recommended.

I recently welcomed my second baby, and with a 2.5 year old at home, time has never been more precious. When I heard about the Elvie, I was intrigued but skeptical. Could it possibly live up to its promises? I’m happy to report that it does.

The biggest selling point on the Elvie is it’s convenience: unlike traditional pumps, the ability to put the Elvie in your bra and continue your life while you pump is revolutionary. I’ve pumped while playing with my kids, cooking meals, and driving. It gives me the gift of time, the one thing I need most right now. It’s nearly silent, so no one has to shout over it while it’s running.

It takes a little trial and error to get the right fit and positioning, and I will admit I found the learning curve with the Elvie to be steeper than my traditional pump. But after working with it a bit, it became like second nature. Elvie provides lots of supplemental material like video tutorials to help you get things just right, and I highly recommend watching them.

A truly hands-free, tube-free pump is just such a game changer. I’m so grateful that the Elvie exists!

Thanks honest sis for a review - great product and very good breast pump
Honestly such a good idea! You literally pop them in your bra… And they collect the milk when and where you need it… No spillage and very comfortable for what they are!

    Works great.
A fantastic product, which makes it easy to prepare breast milk for your child. Easy to set up and wear, and sits just inside your bra. Suction power is good without being uncomfortable, and it is easy to clean when needed. You can also monitor it and set it up with the app via the App Store or Google Play store. Keeps your hands free so you can go about your day. A great product and will last a long time.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersI had a hard time deciding which wearable pump to buy but decided on Elvie since it had come personally recommended by a friend. I'm so glad I did! It's so quiet and actually smaller than I had imagined but what I love most is the freedom!! It honestly is hands free and not having to take time out of my day to pump is such a game-changer I'd highly recommend this pump!

I really love this machine it’s very easy to use and assemble. I’m really really enjoying being free while pumping. I can do laundry, clean .. basically do anything I want. All you need is a tight bra. The pumping speed was a little slow though ( compared to the madela for instance) but I wouldn’t mind since I can move around. I would rather be free for an hour than to be plugged to a wall for 20 minutes!!! Definitely recommend i

Love this product!! Suction is comfortable very quiet . You can see a light through your top but not too worried about that.
You can pump whilst making sandwiches or washing up!!! So glad I bought this and ignored all the bad reviews. It even shuts off when it’s full (4oz) if u jiggle about or bend down it may leak but thats what breast pads are for right? 🙂 yes its pricey but to me totally worth i

Golden Review Award: 436 From Our UsersPortability makes it well worth the money
This is the third pump that I’ve tried (Spectra S2 and freeme were the other two). Not being tied to the wall or having tubes is amazing. I wish I would have just gone straight to this one. The portability and awesome customer service outweighs all negatives IMO.

    Pros:
    1. Portable
    2. Decent battery life (I can pump at least four 20 minutes sessions)
    3. Easy to assemble and wash
    4. Comes with four bottles instead of two (other pumps did two)
    5. Amazing customer service

    Cons
    1. Sensors aren’t great and often predict inaccurate amounts. While the bottle holds 5 ounces, it stops between 3.5 to 4 for the change out. Not a huge deal, but annoying. (Depends on posture, I’ve noticed.)
    2. App is buggy and loses connection to pumps often (usually auto recovers). Also has issues with updating pumped amounts.

    Neutral:
    1. Bottles are inaccurate with some measurements. This isn’t a big deal to me because every bottle I’ve measured is inaccurate as well. Elvie is the closest to accurate I’ve seen. Here are the measurements I got:

1/2 oz: slightly below 20 ml line
    1-3 oz: accurate
    3.5 oz (105 ml): 95 ml line
    4 oz (120 ml) 110 ml line
    4.5 oz: 4 oz line
    5 oz (150 ml): 140 ml

    EDIT:

I’ve been using this pump for many months now and have noticed a few things worth noting:

    1. After turning the pump on, sometimes it will suction _really_ hard and then shut itself off. I reached out to the support team and they sent me a new pump and said that this is a result of not connecting it to the app to offload it’s data. I do admit, I don’t use the app all that much anymore so now I try to turn the app on to shut off the pump and have noticed it happens next to none.
    2. The bottles have developed cracks on them which is making it so we have to replace a component that you aren’t supposed to need to replace.

Because of these two things, I’m dropping down a star – still worth not being tied to the wall but frustrating.

Golden Review Award: 21 From Our UsersI'm pumping for my 3rd kid now. And Elvie is by far the best pump I have used. It is convenient, comfortable and powerful. I pump for 10 mins every session and I get about 4oz on each side. Elvie is much more expensive than other brands (I did not use insurance on these pumps). But they are worth the money!

Golden Review Award: 193 From Our UsersI love my Elvies. I’m an “undersupplier” and I cold never get my baby interested enough to breastfeed so I exclusively pump. I was struggling not providing enough AND being stuck to a wall every 2-3 hours to provide only 1/2 of his intake. Now with the Elvies I can do everything I need, hold my baby and feed him, change him, drive and work without anyone even knowing I’m pumping. For me the suction is very strong and very much mimics breastfeeding. I get probably 15% more output with these than the Medela and it’s hands free. Without a doubt worth every penny AND to top it off customer service is ON POINT. I had an issue with a valve and they resent a new one no questions asked. You will not regret this purchase!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersGreat as a handsfree top up pump. App can be more precise.
I agree with a lot of reviewers and I went into this knowingly. I use this pump as a top up up to build a stash / for the bottle for my husband to feed – as my baby feeds very well and I just use this for relief at the end of the night.

Warning: if you don’t use the right breast shield the pump will not be as efficient and you need there to be a significant amount of pressure / tightness in your bra otherwise it will leak and not work properly.

It takes a bit getting used to but I love the fact that I don’t need to be tied to a static device and I can still head out to the post office and run my errands as usual.

I knocked one star off because it leaks a little (nothing my nursing pad can’t handle, I just fold it up and put it underneath where my boob folds into the skin under the pumps) and that the app’s milk measurement is quite inaccurate but I don’t really care as I know what quantity I express + timings.

It’s not a perfect product but I’m more than willing to live with the small faults for the ease it brings.

I suspect the next product iteration of these pumps will iron these issues out.
