Was fr eine geniale Idee.

Someone mentioned in another review, this is a product that you didn’t know you needed, until you try one!!! Everyone is impressed by how quick and even the coals go, once lit in this chimney. It’s brilliant!!! It takes 20 mins and every coal is grey and ready to cook. I use brickettes because they stay hot longer.

Well made, sturdy, easy to light. My only issue is there aren’t enough coals to fill the average size BBQ in my humble opinion. I’ll probably end up ripping them out much earlier and then throwing some other coals on top… The product itself cannot be faulted, very well made and well packaged too

Was going to buy the Weber chimney starter but found this design better suited my needs. This has large holes at the bottom to allow lighting of fire starter cubes.

Seems well made and does a good job.

The only slight negative is that the conical rings inside the fire starter allow small pieces of lit charcoal to full through (only a problem if fire starter is used outside of the BBQ). But this seems common with even the Weber one.

So a good alternative and usually cheaper.

    Geniale e funzionale

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersWe have a pretty large BBQ which has always been a struggle to get a consistent heat across the whole grill and usually takes around 45 mins to get going to anywhere near ready to cook on.

So I bought one of these after a friend recommended one – he has the more expensive well known brand one, but this one is pretty much the exact same thing – looks the same and does the same job. It’s pretty big too so can hold enough briquettes to fill our BBQ.

Just fill it up with charcoal, place on an old slab or bricks, put some kind of flame below it (I use a combination of paper and some small thin wood offcuts I have) and leave for 20 mins or so. Results in white charcoal ready to cook on.

I’ve heard from my friend lumpwood doesn’t do too well in these chimney starters but have only used briquettes so far. It also seems to work much better when using a more consistent burning flame to start the charcoal off, such as small wood, twigs or a fire starter.

Great investment for the summer, I’ve used at least 10 times in the last few months and have found I’ve been wanting to BBQ more often as I don’t have the dreaded task of lighting the big BBQ.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis handy little coal/lump wood starter is fantastic! I used it yesterday and it worked so quickly to heat coal. This really is a must have item for those using coal or briquettes for BBQs. The handle doesn’t get hot but would recommend safety goggles when pouring the hot charcoals into the BBQ (flying bits of hot charcoal can rise up). It is very easy to use and highly recommend it, if you want to do a quick BBQ.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersAs my partner seems to have been born without the caveman gene, I bought him a BBQ chimney as part of his birthday present. I will admit we were both a bit skeptical however…it lit with such ease that was thought it was beginners luck. The heat that was generated from it in a matter of seconds was amazing, and we sat out in the garden watching magic happen!!
Within 20 minutes we were able to cook on it and amazingly the food didn’t burn, it seemed to cook evenly.

We were so pleased with it and have had several BBQs since, well, why not, it’s so easy now! I truly wish I’d bought one of these earlier, as it may have prevented the previous BBQ being thrown across the garden in frustration!

Now my other half can be heard shouting “Man make fire!”

By putting a handle and part-floor on a can, you have a product for which people will pay a premium! This product worked perfectly, so my BBQ required a single match instead of a dozen. It took about 25 minutes to arrive at the white charcoal stage. Basically, light and forget. If only I’d bought one earlier …

No doubting the sturdiness of the product, though competition should bring the price significantly lower over time.

This starter is great. In the past, we have used smaller chimneys but going for a slightly larger one has changed how we BBQ. Air holes going up the side of the chimney help airflow and we find that the charcoal evenly heats up throughout. The key thing we have been most impressed with is the speed. We feel the coal heat faster and require less effort to get going in the first place.

    All in all excellent product.

Brilliant piece of kit. We have an enormous charcoal bbq which is a nightmare to light. Always took more than an hour of fussing, and often more. This removes the faffing and the guesswork. Paper on the bottom, coals in the top, tip it over when the orange flames appear at the top.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersDid not believe the hype but after first use I was hooked, I found that once you start to see orange flames come out of the top then most of the coal’s will have turned white. Larger than I imagined, If you have a shredder then you’ll always have the material to start your bbq, if not then any magazine or paper will be fine. Only downside is the ash and where to place to cool as it will easily burn fingers and grass depending where you leave to cool. Plenty of videos of how to use on YouTube, but if I can get results anyone can. Happy bbq.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI had never used one of these before so was intrigued. I light it with a small firelighter in the bottom (I had seen video on YouTube showing a bit of screwed up paper being enough to light it but I didn’t find this reliable) and pouring lumpwood charcoal over the top. Approx 20 mins later it is like a mini furnace and you can tip the coals into your barbie. It does get hot as you can imagine but you can pick it up using the 2 handles but you need to hold away for fear of singeing body hair etc. I use it all the time now and cant see any difference to the more expensive Weber branded version.

Good value and feels very substantial and sturdy. Used 4 times already and very effective, briquetes are red hot within 25-30 mins. The real question will be the longevity of the chimney being exposed to so much heat over time, but that remains to be seen.

Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersLike the internet, mobile phones, pausing live TV, and wine – this is one of those products you didn’t know you needed until you tried it, and now there’s no turning back!

I found this completely by accident while browsing Amazon for new BBQ accessories. I didn’t know what it was, how it worked, or what it did and to be honest it took me 10 minutes and a YouTube video to figure it out. I’m not an idiot, I’d just never conceived that such a thing existed (or maybe I am an idiot?)

For those in the same boat I was: You turn it upside down, stuff the bottom with old newspaper, turn it back upright, fill it with charcoal, set the newspaper on fire, leave it 20 minutes, pour it into the barbecue and… HEY PRESTO… one easy and evenly burning BBQ ready for cooking.

    It’s simple and genius.

I did a bit of research before buying this one. I know that the original (and apparently best) version is made by Weber. If we had more that 3 days sunshine a year and I didn’t use a Gas BBQ most of the time, I might have stumped up the extra cash from the Weber. However, I chose this one because it had good reviews and was reasonably cheap in comparison – i have no regrets, it’s been used 4 times and still in great condition.

The greatest things for BBQ’s since fire itself? Maybe…

I have found this a great tool to start a charcoal BBQ. I was using an electric looflighter (very good) but with this it is even easier load the chimney pop a BBQ lighter under it and wait 10 mins. The chimney holds enough fuel for a BBQ grill or even cooking meats on in direct heat in my green egg. For very long slow cook you may need to add more fuel once you have tipped the lighting fuel into your BBQ.

Be sure to use protective gloves when tipping the red coals into your BBQ!

I use with a ‘big green egg’ and can get my egg to 200 faster than my Neff electric oven.
