I have had two of these for over two years and they are still as solid as ever. Use them for quick trips and take them on trails to run out dog. Always last longer then expected. I can get 18mph on a flat paved area and I’m over 200lbs. A+ would buy again and again.
Edit:
Had a problem with the battery and they send me replacement which works great!
Got the scooter for my son back in March and slowly the battery life started to decline.
November 10th the battery is good for 45 to 60 minutes.
Contacted them for support and they told me to buy a new battery lol
The Hiboy S2 Pro Electric Scooter is a great E-scooter for your commuting trips. This model does not have suspension so your ride will be bumpy if your commute does not have decent roads. Its great on dedicated bike lanes and an excellent ride when parking in a nearby neighborhood when you want to avoid paying for parking at a garage. The handlebar may become loose but can easily be tightened using an allen tool.
It has been 10 months I have had my S2 Pro. I moved to a very small town and a major city is 2 hours away. I felt commuting around on a scooter would work fine for me and it has.
The battery life, quickness and durability, all stated about this scooter is on point.
In 10 months, I have over 650 miles on my scooter. (I do wish the scooter had an odometer.)
I have no complaints except the weekly (or so) adjustment/tuning of my brakes. This is my first scooter. I’m not sure if this is normal or not. I have replaced the brake pads once since having the scooter and they are probably due for a change again very soon.
Other than that, just common practice – I check all all the screws/bolts on the stem, seat etc., at least once a week and keep my battery charged up to around 85%. That’s it.
It was a very good buy for me and I would certainly buy one again.
I have purchased two of these scooters and have no regrets. The mileage is great and it charges easily. I use it in the Bay area so it does a decent job with the hills. The best part about the scooter though is the support I have gotten whenever I had an issue. If something ever happened with the brake or accelerator, the support team was extremely responsive and always resolved the issue. 100% recommend. I have had this scooter for a year and it’s still great!
Had to use this scooter a lot for a bit. It was very reliable and quiet.
Great scooter, easy to assemble when it arrived.
Very sturdy and well made.
– App is easy to connect and use.
– Solid tires are nice but try to keep to pavement and concrete. They are not good when turning in a water. I crashed when going turning through a puddle (my fault) and slipped. The scooter flung away and I kissed the ground. The scooter survived though!
– headlight and rear light are very bright and makes it easy from night rides.
– battery life is great. Especially when you regenerate.
– brakes work well.
– I set cruise control off.
– the little bell is cute, I don’t use it though.
Overall nice product and build quality.
The price was right, and it was delivered in like a day.
I’m not good at putting stuff together, but there are only 4 screws that need to be put in with the included allen wrench. It could not have been easier.
I was immediately addicted to this thing. I flew off curbs, up curbs, cut corners across the grass, and hauled ass across sprinkler drenched pavement at night.
Bc of my recklessness, pushing it very hard, I ultimately laid it down while offroad at full speed. BTW, this thing sometimes goes 20.
Anyway, it was a violent wreck. I hurt myself a little and messed up the scooter.
When I contacted Hiboy the try to get some help with fixing it, they immediately offered to replace it with a brand freaking new scooter which was delivered at warp speed.
Kaya in customer support was awesome; she took care of the replacement, which I was not entitled to, super fast and with all courtesy and sympathy for my wreck.
So, I’m back at it. It’s crazy fun. I love it.
I’m 190lbs and riding full throttle all out I can go an easy 30km and make it home with a bar or two of battery. (Not brave enough to run it till it dies)
My girlfriend and 13 year old ride them too, and I have no problems keeping up to them trail even though I’m considerably heavier then them.
The ride is a little rough and the screws that I installed to assemble out of the box kept vibrating out. The screws from the factory do have lock tight applied to the screws but not enough, so I bought a tube and redid the screws and they haven’t budged since. All in all, the scooter is great for us, we do almost daily rides out on the bike paths and it’s great way to spend time with the family. Would definitely recommend, will buy another next year for my younger daughter when she grown out of her smaller one! Hope this helps!
Update: Received email from company. Company helped me to fix the proble. Its working and running well without any issues now.
Review Update… I gave 5 star but now when I tried to charge battery, Its not charging.. I cant use is anymore.. If I have to return to Amazon I have to pay shipping cost… this is bad, very bad that its stopped working within one month.
This is one of my best purchases on Amazon. I am excited to let all buyers know this is worth buying. 10/10 rating for everything.
Assembly: It is very easy to assemble. Just unbox and put 4 screws. no addition assembly needed.
Sturdiness: This bike is very sturdy. I loved the way it is built. It looks like quality material is used and excellent finish (design). I am 132-pound, and my wife is 102-pound. We both comfortably ride this scooter together.
Value for money – As compared to other scooters on Amazon this was falling under my budget. Price is very cheap. I am riding this to work every single day since I purchased this scooter. I am saving money on gas. It’s fun to ride. Fully charged battery runs around 35 to 42 KM depends on speed and weight you are riding with.
Hiboy App: Its super easy to connect scooter with app. use features like cruise control. lock/unlock, lights on/off and more.
This scooter has two speed mode. goes to 19 miles per hour on red speed mode.
This scooter has an excellent disk break, Bright head light and break light for night rides. 500W battery.
I have ride other scooters from Amazon. My friend brought another company scooter from Amazon and after riding that I will recommend this Hiboy S2 scooter over any other scooter.
Battery life is pretty good. Lasts 2-3 days of moderate commuting before needing a charge – I hazard it goes 15-20 miles. Speed is very adequate. The only gripe is that the tires aren’t air pumped, so you feel every bump in your spine.
This is a fun little toy. I weigh 95+ kg, and this has plenty of zip. It’s able to move me up the hills in the area. And it works without needing your phone or internet! It’s not light, so I don’t know that I would use this in multi-mode transport (e.g., to/from the bus stop). I just use it to scoot around the neighborhood for fun. There’s not really a good way to lock it up, and it doesn’t have a key, so I don’t think I would use it at a school or to go grocery shopping or anything.
I was really impressed by the custom service recently and very happy to share my experience. I have been used Hiboy S2 Pro for around one year, it never have any problem. Recently, I was moving from one state to another, and shipped the scooter to my new address, certain essential and hard to find screws were lost during the process. I contact Hiboy to ask for the detailed information about the scooter in order to buy them myself. They just asked my address and mailed the screws to me for free from China!!! The shipping process only took around 6 days!!!
Got this for recreation use, to cruise around neighborhood bike paths near my work. It does 19 miles an hour top speed and has cruise control that automatically kicks in after five seconds at the same speed. The brakes work awesome, great stopping power. I downloaded the app and easily connected to the scooter through Bluetooth. Although I don’t really use it very much except for activating cruise control. Battery meter is on the LCD screen, light works great, can be a little bumpy on rougher paved roads because no suspension in front.
I weigh 165 pounds in it took me up 20% inclines without stalling, but it did go pretty slow.
My 13-year-old son also uses it and it seems like it fits great for him too. Has plenty of battery life for what I use it for, I have only charged it twice since I’ve owned it.
So yeah this product is not bad, my first EV, out the box installing the stem was the hardest part the wire and some weird foam was interfering with the wire and just the installation of the stem in general, rides great already put about 40-50 miles on it everything is working well, swapped the handle bars grips out for BMX vans grips which improved the feel of the handling overall, i would recommend it for something to get you from point A-B and beat the city bus
I’m looking for the best scooter for me to use to commute to the office. This is #3.
Pros: It got me to the office with battery life to spare! My commute is 13.5 miles and I was never worried about the battery.
Cons: It’s VERY bumpy. Get real tires people – DEF worth it. The other major issue is that this is the only scooter I’ve tried so far to have 2 break systems. One that’s a push button and one that’s the normal pull type. The problem is that you have to use them BOTH at the same time or they don’t do enough to stop the scooter. It’s truly not ideal.
On to a new attempt!
Pros-
1. solid tires! I returned my first scooter because of flats. Solid tires reduces this aggravation.
2. Cruise control, a must have for me.
3. Two speed settings-fairly easy to deal with and 1st gear still goes 13 MPH. Top speed at sport (2nd gear) is 19 MPH.
4. Rear suspension-makes for a decent ride. (Make sure your feet are at the back of the deck when riding).
5. Lights are bright.
6. Scooter feels stable at top speed.
7. Electric brakes.
8. Charging port up by handle bars-it sucks having to find charging port by deck. Very convenient.
9. Latch is effective for folding and carrying. Trust me, one scooter I returned didn’t have a decent latching system and it sucked.
Cons
1. Battery doesn’t last as advertised. Sorry, but you are not going 25 miles on a single charge.
2. Limited power, 500 watts will not get you up too many hills unless you are a lightweight.
3. No front suspension! Why they didn’t add front suspension for solid tires is beyond me. The ride can be a little rough.
Overall, I like the scooter but not entirely sold that this is the right scooter for me. I still give it a 4 out of 5 stars as it is better than my 2 previous purchases.
Had for a little more than a year. A few months after purchase the handle bars came loose. Almost caused a wreck but was able to tighten. Just last week was riding down a paved road and the entire column snapped in half causing a wreck. Be careful and wear a helmet!
My son has riden this scooter for hours and we’ve had two issues. I have to say, within the warranty period of three months the service through [email protected] has been fantastic. I’m a little concerned about the amount of issues we’ve had now we’re going out of warranty, but my teen has ridden it hard and long and loved every minute. He says it’s not fast enough, but I think 19 mph on a straight away is plenty fast. It’s pretty great. Hope the issues are behind us.
I bought this scooter in July 2021. The scooter cracked as seen in the picture a year and two months after I bought it. I contacted Hiboy and they sent me a replacement. It was out of warranty but they were really nice and sent me a new one. Special thanks to Chris from support who was super nice. I now have the new version of the S2 Pro which has reinforced tubing. I hope that means it will not crack again. I like everything else about this scooter up until the day it cracked. I took off one star for the old version I have cracking. I will update the review after I ride the scooter for a while and add a star back if all is well. Thank you Hiboy!
I love this scooter it’s solid great buy good job on the S2 pro with seat is great and you can stand with the seat still but you need to get the seat as well for a little more comfortable ride. I would buy it again if I could go back in time it really is a great electric scooter to have always turns heads the 10 inch tires make it stand out from others. My electric bike comes tomorrow I’m excited to finally go faster than 20mph. Thanks for a great scooter s2 pro still works like the first day and that was July 2021. Can’t go wrong either this one.
Decided to buy an electric scooter and join the transport revolution. Primarily for getting around when i visit various motorsport events but im hoping legislation will allow me to use it to commute in the near future. I’ve tried it out and although its been nigh on 40 years since i stood on a scooter, i found myself really flying. Ive turned the cruise control off as thats a bit disconcerting when you’re not expecting it (auto kicks in after a constant acceleratir hold for 7 seconds) but no accidents occured. Im really looking forward to getting the hang of it. Its a fab bit if kit for a toy.
Pros:
-airless 10 inch Tires (no flats)
-re-enforced rear fender
-headlight/tail light
-red underglow lights
-seat attachment
-handlebar stem has a greater angle making it more stable
-dual brake system (mechanical disc and electric motor brake)
-regenerative braking with electric brake
-Latching and folding mechanism is secure.
-deck height/handlebar height
-deck is long and wide enough
-app works well
-cruise control
-rear shocks work well (specially with the scooter seat)
-nice kick stand
-19 mph top speed
-17.5 to 25 mile range (with hills)
-display is nice and it’s bright
-good batteries and 700 watt peak motor (500 nominal)
Cons:
-No front suspension resulting in a rougher ride on rough surfaces. Cracks and bumps and be jolting at higher speeds. Be mindful of cracks and holes. (Airless tires are still worth it in my opinion)
-noticeable drop in performance after hitting 33% battery.
-a bit heavy with the seat
-stock seat isn’t that comfortable (I upgraded to a oversized bike seat with springs)
Things to keep in mind:
-oil the shocks
-avoid water if possible
-avoid cracks and holes
-make sure everything is tight every few rides (I had to tighten the stem once)
-dont leave it on the charger after its done charging/try not to run the battery to 0%
With zero start on, sport mode, max speed and acceleration, I get 17.5 miles.
I Used the hiboy s2 app to Dial back the top speed to 15, put acceleration to 4 or 5/10. With zero start on, I get 23-25 miles.
I love this scooter. It’s fun, affordable, stable, reliable and a good way to save gas. I recommend this scooter to everyone! It’s worth it!
Awesome kit of fun. But I give this four stars as tail light stop working after four weeks
Other than that, this thing is rock solid.
Makes its way up hills fine without loosing much speed. (Steepest hill on my commute it takes at about 11 mph when i lay on the accelerator. i usually ride at 16 for comfort and control anyways.)
It won’t give you any extra power once you hit 20 mph, downhill or flat, so theres no risk of “overdoing it” on the speed.
The deck is wide enough i can put both feet together as i ride, but the outside of my my soles does hang off. Its a comfortable length and width tho for a person to get in a stance comfortable for them.
The double press to switch between sport and comfort mode means switching on the fly while your moving requires a bit of a balanced maneuver, but its doable if you aren’t too clumsy. Something to keep in mind.
The folding hinge is sturdy. The battery life is excellent (and the included charger is at that perfect length where it isnt too inconvenient either way). Construction put the box was easy enough (4screws but they can be finicky to align)
Im on the heavier side and carry a backpack to work so making sure i got a scooter that wouldnt putter around under the extra load was important. If you’re looking at this scooter for the same considerations, this one might be it. It accelerates easy and steady.
Not many good spots to put a lock on. Mostly off the back wheel. If you use something on the wider side for locking it wont thread through the gaps.
Trittbrett ausreichend breit genug.
Beschleunigung lsst sich auch per App einstellen.
Reichweite kann ich noch nichts sagen.
Spritzwassergeschtzt.
Bin sehr zufriede
There is a lot of reviews that complain about this product.
There is a lot of reviews that say great things and no bad.
I bought this to save money going to work. High gas prices help save lots of money.
I live in Utah, and have hills going places. I found using Google maps on bike to go places on the Highboy helps take the easy way to get there.
Most public transportation let’s you take the Highboy on with you.
The downside is that people are very inconsiderate of you being on the road with them. The same go for being on the sidewalk. When I ask a police officer what the law is. I’m told that there is no law yet in Utah. So be careful and watch for the jerks.
I love riding this to work. It takes me 10-15 minutes to get to work in the car, and 25 minutes on the Highboy. It takes me 25 minutes to get home in the care because of rush hour, and the Highboy is 25 minutes.
The app is great to control the Highboy so my kids don’t get hurt. I wish they would let you have more control. I also wish they would us temp (F) as a option, not just making you us (C). You have to always look you the conversation online.
Save your self money and buy the seat combo.
Battery life is surprisingly good, handlebars rattle while breaking in, but that’s no problem, so much better than getting a bus from where I live, would highly recommend
This remarkable little scooter is quite the piece of machinery. I’m a truck driver and need something for commuting in cities to go shopping and playing tourist as I can’t just drive around cities in my semi truck with a 53ft trailer. This thing is quite portable and fits behind the passenger seat of a kenworth t680 and can go 19 mph with my heavy 280lb 6ft body (on flat ground). It gets real sluggish going uphill and you’llhave to give it a few kicks to boost it. If I lost 50lbs it probably wouldn’t be an issue as it’s a miracle it even holds me at my size. If you’re a truck driver or traveling in a rv it’s a pretty good way to get around. Only had it for a few weeks and so far it’s gotten me around Nashville, Denver, and Ontario CA. Pretty fun to ride while on my 34HR resets.
Would easily recommend to any other truck driver or traveler.
Arrived a day ahead of schedule. Looks like the battery life is pretty good.
Overall I’m happy with it. I would have to spend at least double to get anything notably more capable, and I prefer biking trails anyway.
Great last mile(s) transportation. Reasonably portable for residential buildings / office.
I love this scooter! I’m a 50+ downtown dweller, and I can’t get enough of hopping onto my scooter to commute the 10 minutes to work, 10 minutes to the art gallery, 10 minutes to the pub, 18 minutes to visit my folks, etc. I love how it folds up for easy carrying, and it is light enough to easily carry in and out of my house and down the front steps. My bike was a pain, this is easy. It travels at the speeds listed, takes me up (and down) hills, and I’ve never run it down lower than half the battery while only charging it once a week. The solid tires may make the ride a little bumpier, but I’d rather that than deal with a flat. All in all, the is the most fun purchase I’ve made in ages, and I’m trying to convince my friends to get one. (easily converted once I let them take it for a ride.)
Great power, great range. The rear suspension is adjustable and great. The front light isn’t bright at all.. it works as a daytime running light. The accent lights are great.
There is a rattling noise in the stem after a few months of use. Everything still functioning as usual.
Highly recommend it. I wish one came with dual suspension within a similar price range.
I’m 47 with a knee condition.
I use this purely for commuting to the train station.
I love it, although standing was hurting my knee because of the vibrations so I got the seat too.
**Regarding the seat**
As it’s not usually shipped or used, the metal plate the seat is weak tack welded. This meant that after a couple of bunks in the road, the plate worked free and I needed to weld it properly and add some brackets – hopefully HiBoy will acknowledge this
Excellent bit of kit overall, best purchase in a very long time.
Honestly I’d still recommend this; I’m pretty sure I just pushed on the throttle too hard and busted it since I ride hard.
Secondly, the scooter itself. I had read some decent reviews and had just driven quite a few of my friends scooters. Since this one was on sale and not knowing anything about hi boy, I really wasn’t expecting much nothing spectacular nor anything so far. We’ll let me tell you, what I received is excellent and unexpected quality! This scooter is robust, solidly built and after just a few outings it is readily apparent that this machine will last for several years to come. Also we were very impressed with how intuitive the app is. I love the fact that the onboard controls are very simplistic and solid. Not a lot of buttons or patterns of button clicks to get you into different modes to get you confused and to cause you to wreck. Most of everything Beyond turning the lights on and off oh, the cruise control on and off, ET cie is handled through the app and not through the dashboard. This allows you to focus on what’s important, the ground whizzing by 20 miles an hour as you stand on a 4-5 inch wide platform on two wheels LOL… again, I’ve not ever owned an electric scooter, but on several electric skateboards and have run the gamut on those. I have owned everything from falls apart second timeout, two excellent quality and I would definitely put the S to Pro towards the latter end of the spectrum. If you’re looking for a good solid entry-level or even a machine for an experienced rider, you can’t go wrong with this machine and you cannot go wrong with the level of service received from High Point!
Arrived within 24hrs of order, really easy to setup with just x4 counter sunk grub screws for the handle only.
Folds away really quick and easy, a little on the heavy side to carry but to be expected with the long range battery. Nice sturdy ride and goes over bumps with minimal feedback in steering, has a real quality feel about it. With front and back lights, nicely controlled electric brake which is very smooth as is the acceleration. Super quiet when in motion. Hope this helps anyone looking to buy.
My University Campus is very big. It takes me 15 minutes to go from my class to the parking lot. So I decided to invest in a scooter for my birthday. Best decision I made! The scooter arrived in under a week and came fully charged. You had to assemble the handles to the rest of the body but there was no trouble at all. I folded the scooter and took it to school via car. For reference to the length, it fits perfectly in the trunk of my Santa Fe. There is no hassle in folding and unfolding the scooter. Top speeds are 16 mph going uphill, 20 mph downhill, and 19 mph on level pavement. (On sport mode) Due to its metal structure, it is a bit heavy, but after a while, you get used to it. Battery life is amazing. I plug it in before bed and use it throughout the day. I use it to get around from 7:45 am through 6:15 pm and the scooter will still have around 27% and I like to use it on sport mode. I like to use the cruise control feature as I don’t have to hold the lever down to accelerate. Keep in mind that you have to use the Hiboy app to use this feature. I avoid taking my scooter to school on rainy days as I don’t want a risk anything from happening. The lights around the scooter work well and look really cool at night.
In early December, there were some issues with the throttle where it was loose and the max speed became 16 mph (on sport mode) and the front wheel would still accelerate even though there was no pressure on the throttle. I contacted Hiboy support about this and they were quick to respond and very helpful. After sending them a few pictures and videos of my problem, they sent me a new replacement part through the mail. It took two weeks to arrive; however, I didn’t mind as I was on winter break anyways. Throughout the whole process, they were very professional and polite. Replacing the broken part was quick and easy.
I am very happy with my purchase and I definitely believe that it was worth the money.
Got this for my son christmas who needs the break and power button on the same side ( right hand). Really pleased with ease of build lights are fantastic…comes with break light also. Sturdy and the app is good for controlling spead and drive options. Vert happy i bought this …..worth the money as i cant fault i
The scooter is very substantial and heavy! The quality is amazing, you can just feel it! It was easy to put together and everything works as it should. Has a very cool digital control shows speed and battery life. One touch turns it on, press again to activate headlights which also activates red light from the underneath of the scooter, which looks pretty cool and is a great safety feature, too.
The ride is very smooth and so is the braking. I tried it around the house and didn’t take long to get my balance on it. Not only is it a sweet ride and tons of fun, but I think it’s important for adults to do things like this to keep their balance in check. Love that this is foldable and can be controlled by the app. Also has a great locking system.
Although this is for my hubby, I’m definitely going to be using it also, or maybe I’ll have to get my own!
Excellent scooter. Easy to operate and store. I’m 6’3″ 200lbs and the scooter performs nicely. Its nothing sporty or fancy, but its great to commute between parking and work. It folds up easily and fits in the back of my car. The App is okay, but not necessary unless you want to Lock the scooter. However, the unit stays on when locked and battery will drain. So thats not a long-term solution to secure the scooter. My only complaint is that max speed bleeds off as the battery gets lower. By 50% battery, it only max out at 15mph. So definitely, keep it charged up if you want max speed. Also, no way you gonna get 25 mile range with regular start/stop use. And even if you could, my guess is youre only going 10mph when the battery gets below 20%.
Edit (10/30/21). I asked about a second/replacement charger and customer support responded quickly and sent me a new unit without charge. Nicely done!
Edit (12/9/21). At just over 2 months old, it STOPPED CHARGING. No “red” charging indicator on either charger. It was disappointing to get only 2 months life out of a $500+ scooter. Apparently this is common issue to many. Sent email to customer support.
Edit (12/13/21). Great Support response within 24 hours!! They sent photo instructions how to test the connections and battery. Upon opening the body, found that the 5A fuse (automotive blade style) was literally broken. Not burnt. Just cheap wires that broke inside the fuse body causing bad charging/battery connection. Replaced with new fuse and its like new.
Edit (12/22/21). In light of my broken fuse. Customer support generously sent me a replacement battery too, which I received within 5 days!! Their support has been nothing short of generous. During normal business week, they have replied to all my emails within 24 hours. They have made every effort to make me a happy customer. The scooter continues to function well and I am enjoying it a lot. Thank you HiBoy!!!
Update (1/6/22). Rear tire fender not big enough! Its the rainy season. The Scooter performs well in the wet. It is water resistant though Hiboy recommends not riding in the rain. Even so, riding the scooter on wet surfaces or through puddles–expect to get your backside splashed heavy with water/dirt. The rear fender is basically worthless, its far too short to effectively deflect water spray. I’m gonna try to MacGyver some kind of extension to get better protection.
After purchasing a Hiboy S2 e-scooter in 2018, I decided to by another Hiboy, this time the Hiboy S2 Pro. The style of the two e-scooters are identical, except the S2 Pro is heavier (due to the larger battery I believe), and has slightly larger wheels.
The S2 Pro is an improved e-scooter, when compared to my S2 from a few years ago. The first thing I noticed is the mileage, as it is much improved. I believe the advertised 25 miles per charge is doable on this scooter. Also, the top speed of my S2 Pro right out the box, is 19-20 mph. This can be done without the need to use the Hiboy app, which wasn’t the case for the original S2, which would have topped out at about 15 mph if the Hiboy app wasn’t used. The one negative on the S2 Pro, is the lack of suspension. While the S2 Pro rides very smoothly on flat surfaces, the ride can get very bumpy on uneven roads. This is obviously not a game changer for many people, as not everyone will encounter bumpy roads during their commute. But it would have nice to see Hiboy add front suspension to the S2 Pro, instead of using a frame that is 95% identical to the original Hiboy from a few years ago.
One other VERY annoying issue, is adjusting the brake caliper once you take the Hiboy straight out the box (when new) so that you don’t hear brake squeak as the wheels move. I have tried numerous attempts to adjust the caliper so that the disc spins without rubbing on the brake pads. One positive on the brakes, is the addition of an electronic brake. I find myself using it more than the mechanical brake, as it is strong, and easier for me to press.
Overall, I’m very impressed with the Hiboy S2, and I highly recommend it.
This company expects you to be able to perform repairs yourself. On their website are instructions for fixing the brakes and installing replacement parts. A serious problem is that the nuts & bolts loosen during regular use. So when the brakes went kaput, I figured out how to tighten the hardware and adjust the brakes.
Subsequent mechanical problems required that I contact the manufacturer.
The next problem was that the handlebars collapsed while riding, causing an injury accident. We discovered that the part that locks it in place had loosened and fallen off without our knowledge. When I contacted Hiboy for a replacement part, they eventually responded and we received the part- this was a simple repair on the outside of the vertical bar.
Soon thereafter the electronics started malfunctioning. The scooter would surge forward, or even stop, without cause! Very dangerous! So it couldn’t be ridden for a while. When contacting Hiboy, they eventually responded and said that it needed a new controller.
Eventually the part arrived, with no instructions for installation. Again, I had to contact Hiboy and wait for a response. They repeatedly tried to email instructional videos. However, video files are too large to be sent by email. After a series of emails back and forth, I suggested that they create a YouTube video and provide me with the link. It all worked out in the end, but this was NOT a simple installation (luckily we have some electrician tools in the garage).
So the scooter worked fine for 12 days before we ran into more electrical problems. This is from the latest email I sent:
“… yesterday while riding it, the brakes seized up for no reason, and the control panel turned off when supposed to be on, and it turned on when supposed to be off.”
I sent this email THREE WEEKS AGO and I have not received a response from Hiboy!
So, although the scooter worked great for a while, I wouldn’t have paid $500 for a scooter that only works for a few months.
UPDATE: In December 2021 we received a replacement scooter. This was after a many month delay following complaints of electronic failure that rendered the scooter unsafe to ride. The December 2021 scooter has worked fine up to this point, BETTER than the other Hiboy scooters, (up until June 30, 2022- 6 months later) – mechanically and electronically. We have experienced no electronic failures. This is remarkable. At this point we do need some replacement screws for the part where the handlebars attach to the vertical bar. It is very wobbly and probably not safe to ride. Thank you for the replacement scooter, Hiboy. Please take quality control measures on the mechanical and electronic parts. Thank you.
Motore silenzioso e potente
Buona stabilit
E grande divertimento nell guidarlo
Fantastico
Podra tener ms potencia an, ms ancha la tabla y mejor suspensin.
An as est bastante bien.
The main issue is this scooter had some unique features that some might have issues with. If it’s right for you, for the price you can’t beat it. So who is this scooter right for?
If your commute is within 8 miles one way MAX and you’re under 225lbs and you live somewhere realitvely flat this will work perfectly. For a scooter with solid tires, it handles really well on wet pavement. There is some water and dust proofing however like any scooter it’s not protected against water damage. I would avoid taming it out in the rain and avoid puddles is possible. However, this scoot we has far more water proofing on it that a majority of scooters out there. Especially for the price.
The scooter is rated for up to 265lbs riders but with a single motor that’s 350W if you are at the max weight, you’ll have issues going up inclines, even really small inclines. Also the top speed is reduced to 16MPH. 18MPH if you have a really long completely flat, dry, and perfect weather conditions. Which is impressive! The scooter markets 19MPH. I only saw 14 MPH up inclines, but after 50% battery it will struggle on inclines for heavy riders. I would say for shorter commutes for heavier riders this is fine but anything over 3-4 miles on way (round trip 6-8) you will want either dual 500W Motors or a single 800W motor. I use a dual 1000W motor and have zero issues and I weigh 255. The scooter is use advertises a top speed of 40MPH and most users get 37MPH. I get 34MPH. Great value in the Hiboy S2 Pro when you get 18MPH out kf 19MPh, especially when a scooter over 2k getting 6MPH less then advertised!
My main issue is the FST battery isn’t reliable. Some rides at 50% the scooter slows down to 8MPH on flat, dry pavement. Unfortunately, I had to return mine because of this issue. As a heavier rider and someone who can’t drive and relies on this scooter daily to get to medical appointments I needed something more reliable.
It’s fantastic value for a 500 USD scooter. Honestly for a commuter scooter there is no better value out there. The build quality is great. The ride is relatively smooth for a solid tire. There’s water proofing. The weight limit is higher than most. It’s top speed and max distance is better than others in this price point. There’s plenty of room on the deck. Scooter looks great. Folds and unfolds very easily. Accessories fit onto the scooter very easily. Anything you can get for a bike will work for this. The display is bright even to see in the day under direct sunlight. All of the battery issues are completely justified at the price.
Something has to give when your scooter is priced at 500 USD. My best guess is in order to drop the price, a Chinese battery was used. I also want to point out that I’d you are under 225 the incline at 50% or less battery shouldn’t be as big of an issue. At most the scooter will slow down to 12MPH. It will maintain 16MPH with flat and ideal conditions.
In short, Great commuter scooter for short and medium distance rides for riders between 220-250lbs. Expect there to be small variances in speed and max ride distance when traveling anywhere that will take the scooter under 50% charge due to the FST battery.
For riders under 220lbs (vast majority of scooter riders). Scooter max distance will be closer to 18 miles and max speed 18MPH. If your commute is less than 8 miles one way you will be absolutely fine on a single charge! Absolutely best value for the price point. The FST battery may have some long term issues. However, HiBoy has fantastic support for replacement parts. A new battery runs 150 USD and is replaceable. If you can find an LG or Samsung battery to replace, I would consider this when it comes time to replace the battery
For both heavy and light riders. Solid tires means no flats but it also means a bumpy ride! This ride is better than other solid tires scooters, but in my opinion this is partially achieved by the softer tire used. In less than 30 days of going 50 miles a week. (Maybe a total of 100-120 miles) the tires were already very worn down. The tires are replaceable for a realitively low price but it’s something to consider.
Prodotto eccelso curato nel dettaglio
Io sono 110kg e alto 185 cm raggiunge i 30 km/h
PRO:
> autonomia sicuramente un buon punto a favore, con utilizzo equilibrato e un peso del guidatore intorno ai 70kg conferma il chilometraggio indicato.
> robustezza buona e solida, anche se al manubrio, con utilizzo su superficie appena leggermente non uniforme e liscia, arrivano le vibrazioni un po fastidiose, avrei preferito un sistema di assorbimento con un ammortizzatore o almeno una guarnizione gommata alla scocca.
> app dedicata e velocit max.
> illuminazione ben visibile.
CONTRO:
All’incirca dai 35 km in comfort a 25 se usato in mod. sport.

Initial thoughts after one ten-mile ride:
==============================
Unpacking was easy as any scooter. I tightened four hex screws and it was ready to go. I charged my battery to 100%. It took about 75-100 minutes. Sadly, the Hiboy Pro dashboard cannot power on while charging. You cannot see the battery percentage like you can on the Xiaomi m365 and Ninebot G30 models. You got to look at LED on the power brick to know if the scooter has finished charging.
My Hiboy Pro S2 has two thumb throttles. It is more akin to driving a stick shift. You have more control. After about 10 minutes, I was completely comfortable.
My Hiboy Pro S2 manual brake handle is on the right hand-side of the handlebar while the Xiaomi have their breaks on the left handbar.
Acceleration is smooth. One difference is the scooter does not automatically slow down when you release the accelerator throttle. It took a few minutes getting used to it.
One of the most annoying things about Xiaomi scooters is the taillight wire gets destroyed with time. I tried hot glue, but I lost the taillight on both my m365 and m365 pro. It looks like the Hiboy really was careful what part of the wire they exposed. I will update this review if my taillight wire decays with time.
Yes, the scooter vibrates. I could care less. It’s annoying sometimes, but not any more or less than a skateboard or rollerskates. I am not sure the rear shocks help much, but they are not hurting anything. I would rather have a marginally rougher ride than dealing with flat tires on these electric scooters any day.
Carrying the scooter is a little less abrasive on your fingers than Xiaomi scooters. It is still not perfect though. You cannot take your Hiboy Pro S2 up and down a bicycle trough easily.
Cosmetically the scooter looks good except for one lighter gray fork and frame part near the front wheel and deck. It is strange because the paint of most of the scooter is a dark gray (see my pictures). It has a Hiboy sticker on the front easy to remove. The Hiboy logo is easy enough to cover up with electrical tape on your deck. I personally do not care for brand names on anything.
Your Hiboy Pro S2 has compact handlebars. They are easy to replace and upgrade. These are the handlebars I love and recommend: https://www.amazon.com/MEETLOCKS-Comfort-Handlebar-Designed-Cycling/dp/B073PT748H/
I’m glad Hiboy has entered the market. We need competition. It the only way the market will create affordable long-term durable scooters with parts relatively easy to replace.
Pros:
The scooter looks sleek. It seems well built and once I get a better hang of all the features and used to the folding mechanism, it should be a fun ride. The bell is loud and the screen looks like it will give a lot of information.
Cons:
No matter how hard I tried, I could not get all 4 screws to screw in all the way for assembly when connecting the stem. For a $500+ product, that’s not a great sign, even if the stem feels tightly connected otherwise. Also, none of the wrenches they supplied actually work with the screws, so make sure to have your own screwdriver. This thing is heavy. 36 pounds may not seem like a lot, but I can’t imagine lugging this around constantly. I may invest in a scooter bag or something similar.
I’ll update once it has finished charging and I go for my first ride. I am really excited to try this scooter out!
Update 1: Fixed the screw issue, but should not have had that issue to begin with for something this pricey. App seems decent and I was able to update the firmware easily. Looks like it will be good for small adjustments, but not something I will use all the time.
Update 2: Just took this bad boy around the streets of DC. I probably went around 13-14 miles and still had 40% battery life, so if I can average around 20 miles per charge, I’ll be happy. Would it be a better scooter with pneumatic tires? Yes. Are the solid tires a dealbreaker? Absolutely not. You won’t have the smoothest ride, but certainly not as bad as some people have said. The thing zips, even at 15mph. You will definitely need to check the screws every once in awhile to make sure they’re tight, but I think that’s just typical maintenance. I was able to get up steep hills pretty well, but the motor was definitely pushed to its max. Overall, if today is any indication of what my time with this scooter will be, I am and will continue to be very happy with this purchase. Also, the customer service seems friendly so far, especially when you leave reviews about the scooters.
Assembly was super simple. They already had all wires connected out of the box. All I had to do was cut a zip tie and cram the cable into the stem. Put in four allen screws and I was done. **Per a review on this scooter and many others, I am going to take them out and put some loctite on there and re-tighten them. With all the vibrations from riding, they can come out.**
Battery was already at 75% out of the box.
Rear double shocks make it a pretty comfortable ride.
Two different types of breaks; A downhill & braking regenerative battery
Throttle is responsive and works perfectly.
Speed control kicks in after roughly 5-6 seconds of cruising at same speed.
Speedometer has hit 20mph but per some reviews I am pretty sure it is closer to 18. Still a decent speed at this price range.
***The Ginger on Wheels review shows that this thing pretty much has 90% battery life. Once it hits 10% is slows to a crawl, then dies. Not sure how or why this happened, but it was all recorded. Keep that in mind for longer rides. 10% should be considered ZERO***
As for the price: They offered a $30 off coupon via Amazon when I bought bringing the price to $519USD. The Ninebot MAX apparently hits $550 sometimes. That might be a better deal. However, at the $750+ price tag it sits at most of the time, the Hiboy S2 PRO @ $550 is a WAY BETTER DEAL.
The app is actually really top notch for a $500 scooter. Can lock the wheel up (doesn’t prevent someone from running off with your scooter, though) Turn lights on and off, dictate top speed, change acceleration, cruise control settings, see statistics on the watts/volts/battery life, etc.
In my first 48 hours of use, I am VERY happy with my purchase. I do recommend getting in a car and driving 19MPH so you see how fast you will be going. It is not that fast. If you want the 30+MPH scooters, you will be paying roughly double or more. This is a fine medium for me.
(One thing I am mad about. Ordered scooter, Amazon tells me “Here Thursday.” Ok, ready for it to arrive on Thursday. Shortly after ordering, Amazon says “Hey! Your scooter will be arriving a DAY EARLY!!! Expect it Wednesday” So I go home after working all day expecting to take my kids for a ride on a new scooter. 5pm, 6pm, 8pm, 9pm…no scooter. It was a BEAUTIFUL day. 55 degrees in the winter shirt and shorts type of weather… It came the next day. So, for literally no reason Amazon got my hopes up and denied my happiness. They didn’t even have to tell me about an early shipment. Whatever. The day it came it was 35 degrees and windy. Same with the next day.)
Impressions after 1 day of use:
Pros:
– The 350W engine of the Hiboy really delivers, and I can reach the max. speed of 30km/h in the sport mode (my weight is 82kg). It’s as good and powerful as those for rental in the big european cities, and hills are not a problem for it.
– App with a lot of features and setup possibilities.
– Still too early but it seems robust and good quality to me.
– After some use (in sport mode, which burns the battery quicker) the promised range of 40km. seems achievable and accurate enough to me.
Cons:
– I struggled when building it putting the long cables inside the scooter frame. I was also fearing that after putting the cables in, the 4 screws that you later screw on could damage the cable.
– I liked more the folding mechanism of the Xiaomi. Releasing the bar to put it vertical back again is not that stright forward.
