Lights up good Sensor it’s good range it’s good and reasonably priced a good all-rounde
You cannot connect your existing power cable directly into this unit as you possibly did with your previous light fitting. You will require some kind of junction box. This unit is sealed and comes with about a meter length of cable which may need to be shortened if using an inline junction box connector.
An Allen key is also required to adjust the angle of tilt.
The unit appears to be robust with a good build quality. No annoying little dials to adjust. Just two switches. One for day or night and the other has 4 setting for time duration.
Good light but it’s like a yellow light (warm light colour) not white ligh
Well worth the money, easy to install and looks good..I had to buy a side to side swivel attachment from toolstation,as it only moves up n down..Still a good buy.
Bright but not white light.
Fitted by an electrician.
Otherwise fine.
Fitted only in late June 2022 so yet to stand the test of time but all fine so far.
Very easy to install and brightness on the 35w version is great – it’s almost like stepping into daylight.
These are inexpensive lights for lighting up the alley way to my property and also lighting the garden when the dogs go out late at night.
Good purchase and work perfectly.
This is my 3rd buy as previous other brands sensors filled up with water despite being waterproof hence 3 stars – will update if after 6 months there is still no water ingress to 5 star.
Does exactly as expected for a small light unit. Provides enough light for a 15m x 15m square
Very easy to fit and literally was up and working perfectly.
Nothing to dislike, not expensive, easy to install (so my husband said). Read the reviews before purchasing. Not nearly enough cable, in fact bare minimum. We have waterproof cable and junction box, so not a problem. Lights up our patio brilliantly.
Unplugged is a no no. Trying to get plugs now so adds another 2 to each light xx
Very good quality product. Don’t be distracted by Made in China stamp on it.
Installation was easy: Turn off Mains. Drill 2 holes on the wall , put plugs in and screw the support plate. Then adjust the angle with a fixing Pin. Join Load and Neutral wires of this thing with the laod and Neutral coming out of house and done.
Testing and setting is very easy. setting switch is under the PIR sensor. Lights rotate in all directions that might need to be lit. Fantastic.
I didn’t want to be faffing about with, how dark, how sensitive and how long settings like found on some security lights, so went with this. Purchased along with a weather proof junction box to extend the power cable, so was easy to install, set the length time I wanted the light on and that was it. Job’s a peach!
It was simple to adjust the settings before it was installed. I had it installed and wired up within 20 minutes, it was that easy. It has a very bright light which lights up the back garden perfectly.
Led’s are getting better and better it replaced an old 150w flood which was going rusty. It sits against white plastic so i ordered a white spotlight, the only negative is it has a black flex!
Initial motion detection is good. But, even if you move around during the 20 seconds the light is on, it will still go off! So annoying.
good price, very bright. great for outdoor PIR needs . ont PIR direction adjustment could do with being more versatile. you are sometime stick with light in one direction but sensor will not reverse.
Early days to say how well this item will perform over the winter months. But so far so good. Pleased with the build quality and how easy it was to install.
Good brightness level for wattage, motion detector works well.
Build quality is good.
very pleased with iten just got to get used to using i
Cable length is only about 90 cm, so despite the “coiled cable” pictures it is shorter than similar products which (claim to) have 1.5 m cables. Obviously the IP66 waterproof rating means you cannot take the back off and re-attach an existing cable. Off to the DIY store for a waterproof junction box……
Intermediate rating pending installation and operation, but product looks solidly built.
Now installed with waterproof linker, and happy with product.
Easy to fit already had two,new one to replace one where the PIR failed after 2 years !
Supplied with short cable and unable to gain access for rewire. Requires a waterproof cable connector to extend cable.
i had assisted in the installation of such lights recently and decided to replace the ones we had. So basically I was familiar with the product. I purchased three to replace our lights and had them installed by a qualified electrician as I have been rendered incapable of doing it myself, for reasons I needn’t outline here. They are economic to run and provide an ideal lumination over the designated areas of concern. i can recommend these light.
It was fairly easy to install, once I had purchased a junction box. For my setup, it would have been an advantage to be able to connect my power lead directly to terminals inside the rear of the light. It works very well, although it is a bit difficult to work out the various settings.
I would give 5 stars if not for tight bracket.
I nearly broke tool to unscrew it to make it lose to install it.
Cable wires very small, make it difficult to screw in place, they kept coming out.
It took me forever to connect it otherwise it is doddle to install it.
I purchased the light to replace one I had for 3 years that decided to stop working this new light is extra bright to my old light.
I do like the settings which are so simple to use.
The only thing is wish the attached mains lead was longer.
But overall give it 5* and feel it is, a reasonable price.
The photo is misleading, the device is much smaller than it looks (good thing), but the cable is only 1M long and since the unit is completely sealed, you can’t change the cable. Also the bracket is held on with large Torx bolts (I think T30), so if you don’t have Torx you will struggle.
Overall, happy with it though as I was fortunate enough to get an electrician to install and he had all the gear (joint box, Torx et).
The motion detector if directed to the shed at the bottom of the garden causes a dead spot at the back door of the house. The shed is approx 8 metres from the light. If directed to cover the back door the shed is not covered.
In my opinion there is a limitation in being able to adjust the motion detector. Otherwise the light is of good construction and quality.
I’ve had two IP44 security lamps fail in a year or so in our wet weather so I’m hoping this one will last longer. Need to wait and see for that.
But I am impressed with three design features. The screws that hold the lamp to the bracket are allen – keyed, and screw directly into the casing, which makes them easy to handle at the top of a ladder. The cable is long (about a metre I think) which means I can have the connector inside the building, and the light controls are two simple switches, easier to set than the usual 3 rotating knobs.
On the first view it seems very good quality for the price. I purchased the 10 watt version and it seems bright enough for an average garden where it will illuminate to around 5 meters or so. We have used this for a security light on the shed.
It was super easy to install, mainly due to already having a light in the position so it was just a swap over job. The wire seems of good quality and enough length to get you a fair way in to where you need to wire it in to your supply.
Where the wire goes into the light section its very well made and sealed against the elements.
I would say the LED part of the unit is very well made but the sensor section will be the weak point of this.
It will be interesting to see how water resistant this part will be to the elements. I have no doubt the metal case of the LED section will be fine but the motion sensor, being just plastic, might let water through. Time will tell.
I have noticed that this motion sensor housing does get warm, so there are some components in there that might be drawing a lot of current, perhaps unnecessarily so, but perhaps this will be good to dry out the sensor part.
Downsides are that you cannot adjust the sensor on the up and down axis, only side to side. So because we have our light on a shed I would have liked to have moved the sensor up a bit to point down the garden, rather than down at the floor somewhat as it currently stands.
Left and right adjustment is no problem since the sensor has a pivot just for this movement.
It is a shame you cannot adjust the sensitivity of detection like some models, I would have liked the light to come on when detected further away. My position only detects me about 3 meters from the light. As mentioned, this could be because the sensor is pointing down a lot rather than straight ahead.
I would also like to have had an adjustment to come on at dusk/dawn, rather than just a night and day option.
We have another security light which has these adjustments so with a bit of tinkering you can have it come on shortly before dark (or before light in the mornings) which is very helpful. The MEIKEE only seems to come on at night only or on night and day but why would you want it on during during the day?!
I am not sure if there is a sensor to detect darkness, there has to be somewhere. I’ve not found it yet.
It is nice to see MEIKEE are quite responsive to queries and support questions so should anything go wrong they should resolve any issues. This was part of the reason I went for this model.
We are just coming in to Autumn so I will update this review after a few months to see how well it fairs through the winter.
Edit: so it has been a couple of weeks and the light is still working perfectly. We have had a LOT of rain over the last two weeks and the light has taken a bit of a soaking, but despite some moisture being present in the sensor it still seems to work ok.
The light section is still perfectly dry. Time will tell how that sensor holds up!
It’s a nice light and to start with it was working well. But 8 months later, water has got into the sensor and the light no longer works. I managed to email the company by finding an email address online ([email protected]) and was pleasantly surprised when they agreed to provide a replacement light under the 2 year warranty. Hopefully this one will last longer. Top marks for their customer service.
Easy to install via a weatherproof outdoor connection box. The light is compact and looks very well made and weatherproof to IP66 standard. There are just two settings, both switch operated, in the base of the sensor. One is either night or day and night operation and the other light on duration – 4 different times for that. The detection range seemed a bit short but further testing needed – there is no range setting. But as with all such products the real test is their longevity, let’s hope it lasts longer that the item it replaced which filled with water.
Very bright, works like a charm. The only things on the bad side are, cable is a bit short and you’d probably be better getting a plug to wire it into than hard wiring it in. The other thing is you can’t adjust the sensitivity so it will come on when it’s light and detects motion, and it doesn’t stay on for long (but obviously turns back on as soon as motion is detected) other than those issues it’s great. My last one came on and off all night as it picked up a shadow of a tree this one is much better.
Nice light. Bought this to replace an old traditional bulb sensor light. It is so much better and also less bulky. 10W is bright enough for us for good garden lighting without dazzling you. In fact had to angle it right down for best results otherwise its a bit bright for people in the garden. Sensor works brill. Definitely weatherproof as we’ve had some serious storms the last few nights and its still working fine. The sensor wasn’t set off by heavy rain which is good. Recommended.
Initially when connected was all over the place , wouldn’t turn off , flashing on and off every 30 seconds irrespective of where time on adjustment was set to , when off would come on for no reason due to movement etc. and stay on for different times or continue flashing until switched off at mains . Just about gave up on it . set to 15 second and dark mode and left switched off for 24 hrs , not sure what this does but is working perfectly at moment , find light spread is good and pir quite sensitive .
I purchased this exterior PIR led light to go on my shed. I didn’t look for an expensive one because its only for my shed. It’s got a plastic housing with a metal mounting strap. The lead is short but only has to go inside through the wall so I can wire it up. The adjustable settings are fantastic, so simple compared to my old one. There’s a multiple setting switch to pre-programmed times for keeping the light on. The led light is very powerful considering its low wattage and gives a large area of illumination. I have sprayed the outside with a water repellent and sealed the seams with a thin coat of silicone as its an exterior fitting.
Would I buy it again? Yes, upto now it’s working fine. It was very cheap, easy to fit and set up and it’s doing what I want.
Cheers joe
Took along time to settle, does not say in the manual if light stays on for a while after first turning on mine did not go off, so had to turn it off, moved time settings to 10 secs from 60. Turned it back on one night light stayed on for about 30 secs then went off. Works OK now when you walk past at night stays on 10 secs and then goes off as it should.
Purchased two lights for out outside, have just had a single story extension and the electrician was kind enough to leave cables out for me.
My intention had been to remove the wire that comes with the light and plug in my wire instead. Unfortunately although the lights is easy to disassemble the electrical cable is all glued in place and I worried I might damage the other parts by trying to remove it.
Ended up having to buy two junction boxes to complete the job, not the end of the world but an unnecessary hassle none the less.
Light seems bright, construction seems fair. I doubt the bulb will be worth replacing as it will likely cost the same as the whole light, so I hope it lasts.
I don’t really know if it is weather proof because we have not had any adverse weather. It was quite easy to install, the only problem I had was the wire was extremely short. Seems to be working okay but it is early days ask me in 6 months.
This unit is extremely easy to install and set up. Takes seconds to adjust the on timer. Length of cable from unit is perfectly acceptable and good quality.
I tested unit last night. Motion sensor works really quickly and has a great range. Light is powerful and easily lit up my patio and shed area. Definitely would buy it again.
First one didn’t work, it lit up in the day, not at night even though set to the right setting. Contacted the company, who sent me a code for a free replacement. That arrived the next day. This one works perfectly. In terms of installation, I only gave it 3, because the unit is sealed and has its own cable, so you need to be able to wire up the light and either splice into your existing cable or put a plug on (but the cable isn’t very long!) If that’s easy for you then take it as 5 stars.
Bought this to replace an existing security light which had deteriorated with age. It was easy to install and took no more than about 10 minutes to fix. The only thing that can be a bit fiddly is testing the unit in daylight as the switch is under the sensor and is not easy to see what the correct position is to set the switch for testing. Also the waterproof cover takes a bit of persuading to relocate in its proper housing so as to prevent water from getting into the unit. All in all I would say this is a good buy and hope it lasts a long time.
The light arrived well packaged, and the branding & box design made it seem a quality product. I must admit on opening the box the light was smaller than I anticipated though, however it had a very sturdy feel to it and looks like it will last for a very long time. It was easy to install and having set the duration & day or night via the much better rocker switch (as opposed to the dial type with older security lights) and replaced the rubber seal, it was time to wait for the darkness to arrive to test it. Well, big things do come in small packages, the 10w of light was very bright, perfect to illuminate our bins along the side of the house, and the sensitivity of the sensor was spot on first time too.
Plenty of light for a 3 bed semi home above detached garage. Install was easy enough for someone who understands basic electrical knowledge and has a Stanley knife or proper wire strippers to prep wiring for install. installation time about 1-2hrs. Install into a junction box, mine was to replace a very old unit on halagen bulbs. Motion sensor worked perfectly, simple settings that hide behind a rubber cap to keep away from weathering issues.
Wanted to wait until this light was up for a while before reviewing it, as I’ve jumped the gun before, but these lights are great really bright and yes completely weather proof, something my others are not, water collects in the sensor ball, but not these, and no fiddly dials for setting motion detection, just switches that set time and range and protected by rubber seal, truly great lights, and good seller because first light didn’t work so he sent a replacement out straight away, can’t fault good customer service like that, i will be buying 3 more to replace the older ones i have else where around my property.
We needed to replace our old 300 watt security flood light with a new to us LED replacement. Important – The more brighter the LED the higher the wattage you will need and obviously the more you will have to pay for your replacement. What could be easier I thought ? I bought the cheaper 10 watt product and was surprised how small it looked visually in its tiny box. I though Ugh Ugh. It was a lot smaller that the old one I was replacing !!.
I also realised that my previous power supply with a 13 amp fuse needed to be connected externally via a weather proof connection which are cheap enough to buy. Problem is – if like me – there might be a possibility you might have to return the product if it is faulty. If so – you must be careful to make sure you don’t cut the wire or strip the flex back and still make a good electrical connection. First time round the product failed to work. I had to recheck everything the next day and found it was my fault. Most annoying. I did contact the supplier via Amazon and they said they were happy to replace the product with no hassle if it didn’t work. I was most impressed with the service they provided. Couldn’t fault them. The product works fine the next day. Not sure what fuse to use with the product? It is far too early to say if the product is any good yet. The wife likes it – so I guess that’s all that matters.
I have installed the 10w and 30w lights on the outside of the house.
I was a bit worried about the power of the 30w light and hesitated between it and the 50w light BUT I needn’t have worried as the 30w light chucks the light out there like its going out of fashion. More than powerful enough to illuminate our back yard!!
The 10w light is also perfect for what we wanted it for, to throw some light down the side of the house but not necessarily light the house up light guy fawkes night!
I highly recommend both lights!
No reaL grumbles here to be honest, bought at a good price, offers a good range of light, it’s been reliable over the last few months, with zero issues, and the timer setting, i have for mine, switches off after 30 seconds, which is ideal.
I wired a plug onto mine, and simply plugged it in, in the garage, with the light mounted outside.
The only gripe, is that the timer switch located at the back was a tad flimsy in my opinion, but once you set this, I guess you will rarely need to go back to it, as the cover is not the most sturdiest.
Overall, recommended.
I was surprised at how bright this was given how surprised I was at its size when it arrived. It’s small yet powerful. Light extends a decent distance, and it’s a nice white light. Dropped a star for the motion sensor. Sometimes it activates when I pull up to the drive, other times it doesn’t activate until I’m parked up and get out the car, which is a shame as I bought to give better visibility when reversing. Cant complain at the price though. Replaced an existing security light, and swapping over was simple enough using a junction box.
The product arrived on the promised day. It is a small but powerful unit which we wanted for our back garden and patio. Despite its size it lights up the garden as least as much as the larger, failed unit it replaced. Very easy to install, it comes pre-wired with 1.5 metres of cable. It appears to be very weatherproof as the unit dies not need disassembling to wire up a cable, and the duration and ambient light switches are recessed and covered with a tight fitting rubber plug, but only time will tell how weatherproof it is, hence I cannot give it five stars for this aspect, yet. I recommend this security lamp.
Ordered a pair of these but unfortunately one was faulty as it was permanently lit. Situation couldn’t have been handled better, a credit to buy a new unit was sent the same day. Second unit working perfectly. Units themselves appear well made and are easy to fit being much less bulky than the halogen units they replaced. Overall very happy.
I fitted a 20W variant of this make at my sister in laws in Aug 2018 and that has been excellent ever since so I had no issued about buying the 10W version to replace a faulty unit on my drive.
I read the reviews and my only concern was the introduction of a Day/Night switch which replaces the Lux adjustment, however after fitting the light yesterday I can say the switch works fine. I set it to the Day setting and adjusted the time to 45 seconds, which in my opinion is long enough, and tested the unit which worked fine. I then reset the swich to the Night setting and tried it just as it was going dark and again it worked fine. Overall I am very pleased with this light and fully recommend it.
Bought two, they’re smaller than expected but are mounted easily and produce a surprising amount of light. Sensors are very sensitive, and somehow detects motion from slight behind the unit (its weird, one is mounted above the back door and the sensor detects when the door is opened inwards, so the patio is lit before stepping outside).
My only critique is the build quality; the motion sensor on one of mine is attached at a funny angle, still works just looks odd.
This is a good light but I have only given it 4 stars due to the lack of an allen key. To adjust the angle of the light you need an allen key (large size)to loosen the screws holding the bracket. Luckily I had a key of the correct size otherwise would have had to purchase one.
Good security light, lit up the area well. Controls really simple, you get a choice of how many seconds the light stays on and whether you want it to work day or night. No fiddling with the settings like other lights, and having to test and adjust until it’s right. Set it, switch on and go, couldn’t be easier.
After 4 months use it has stopped working. Checked the fuse and it’s ok so don’t know what the problem is. Certainly not due to weather conditions since I have it installed inside my garage in the dry. It saved me switching on the garage light if I was only going to be a minute.
Bought this to replace and old similar light. It is positioned outside above our French doors giving access to the rear enclosed garden. it is positioned to illuminate a step down from the house into the garden and to illuminate the garden itself, allowing us the ability to keep an eye out when our dogs are in the garden after dark.
It also acts as a security light deterring unwanted visitors.
It was easy to install, and seems to work efficiently.
On the downside is the length of the electric cable, falling short of the existing cable from the old light, and was not long enough to reach the power source, so had to install a junction box for the power cable from the mains, then connect this light to the junction box. Apart from that I’m very pleased with the light.
Bought to replace a faulty halogen spot. 1000lm is good enough to light a small area but you would need larger if you want to flood a large area.
Easy to install. It is a sealed box with a moderate length cable. You will likely also need a weather proof junction box as the case is not accessible to rewire yourself.
There is some flexibility between PIR detector position and light position but not quite enough for my liking. So it’s a compromise on light and PIR angles.
After a rain storm I was adjusting the sensor to improve angle and noticed a lot of standing water behind the sensor on a downward pointing angle. Seems ok but is a concern over the long term. Switches are covered by a rubber insert.
These lights are really easy to install, as they are LED, all you need to do is connect the other end to the mains. From start to finish it took me about 20 mins to complete. I placed one at the side of my house to cover the front gate and my car and I bought a second one to cover the back garden. They are very bright, they throw of no heat as they are LED. Adjustable settings for how long they stay on, and setting for night or day.
Definitely recommend.
Really great sensor light for price. I have a standard small back garden and this light will sense any movement in it. It can be adjusted to come on for a few seconds up to about 10 minutes.
It doesn’t come with a plug but you can take the plug off something old and it’s easy to put on. I placed this on the outside of my shed so the wire was plenty long to reach the plug inside. It had all screws needed.
Its main purpose for me is to scare away the fox from my chickens at night time and it is working. It’s also facing into the garden so we can see if we go out at night time.
I was really surprised when i received the light, it was much smaller than i expected though that is actually ok as it’s less obtrusive when mounted on the building. It’s an easy install for anyone who knows basic plug wiring etc.. The light is bright but perhaps a little limited in coverage, this could be due to physical size and it’s lack ability to cast a wide arc of light, though for lighting up a smaller area directly in front of a garage or property door, it’s ideal.
A dark corner behind the garage now has light! There’s a street light that used to do it but it’s been shaded now. I particularly like the day/night and delay switches, marked up in periods. It saves fiddling about with those knob things on other units I have bought. I have knocked one star off for installation as the supplied cable was just 1 foot too short to reach where I wanted it to! Not really a fault and particular to my installation. Recommended item.
well for the price i was a bit unsure what rubbish would come …. but my god i was so wrong …. this light is amazing for the price ….i fitted many over the years as a sparky and this unit is well worth buying … its pre wired which helps a lot …i just screwed it to garage sofit and got the cable into garage and put a plug on ….. setting pir was easy too …id buy again no probs 1st dec 2019 …. i have to add ….. the light had been working fine uptill last nite … the P.I.R is clicking to turn light on but the light just has a faint glow no proper light to see by …..ive sent it back for a refund .. but to be fair ive re ordered the same light to see if it was just an odd one faulty or wether they are just too cheap to be any good …. will get back to you all on that one !!! 01/12/19….. just taken broken one down …. ive taken it appart to see if anything seems wrong with it or water had got in with all the rain we have had …..nothing !!!! these lights are well built water seals all in the right places and no water or damp in anywhere …. so it has to be the electronics…..and after 36 years as an electrican its broken and its for the dustbin …… will get back to you on how the new one gets on ….. shame if its down to a little part on a circuit board because the lights are well made ….
I bought two of these lights and very pleased with them, easy to fit and work perfectly , these 10 Watt lights are so much better than the 150 Watt Halogen lights they replaced. Cannot believe how bright and powerful these lights are compared to Halogen. Setting Lux and time are really good , no need to guess when turning a switch , how long it will be on for, these have a proper switch for specified times , brilliant. Would definitely recommend these lights.
Nice and bright, ideal for lighting up our drive when we get home at night. Sensor comes on about 10 metres away which is ideal. Cable length is about 4 to 5 ft which is longer than some competitors but I used a junction block to extend mine. Looks sturdy and it’s quite small and lightweight. The switches to control operation are quite small but are more precise than a pot. Best to adjust them before installing the light. Great value for money, the 10w version is cheap to run and recommended.
I got this to replace a halogen outside light which ate bulbs on a regular basis. It is pre wired with a good length of flex so it was easy to connect to the existing wiring coming out from the wall. For that I used a Wiska 308 waterproof connection box. It gives off a good spread of bright white light. I angled it down quite a lot as I only needed to light up a part of the patio leading to the shed and didn’t want to annoy the neighbours who’s garden backs onto ours. The adjustable PIR detector is a good feature and works well at any angle. For 13.99 it is great value – time will tell if it lasts but I’m pleased with it so far.
Very well made light which is easy to install. The range of the detection is very good and as described. The 10w LED is more than powerful enough to light up my driveway. A very good feature is the switches that determine when the light operates (Day / Night), and for how long to light stays on. Most others have a switch you rotate which is fiddly and exposed. These switches are under a weatherproof rubber cover and are completely enclosed.
Very pleased with this light in all aspects and would recommend.
Having read the previous customer’s references on this light I was moved to send for one having no light for our back yard. My husband being a retired electrician was also impressed with the technical spec on the light and having now put it up on our garage to give light to the back he was very impressed with it. It is lightweight and easy to install. It is just as it says very bright and mainly as it has hardly stopped raining since he put it up it is certainly waterproof so that is an excellent feature. The company who sent it are very customer focused and we are considering buying another of these lights soon.
I bought and installed a Meikee 10W PIR light just over 2 years ago. It started to flicker and fail to provide full brightness. I assumed I’d have to buy a new one but was reminded by Meikee customer support of the 2 year warranty. Even though it was a few weeks beyond 2 years, Meikee to my amazement have offered to send me a replacement newer model! Amazon voucher for full cost of the replacement was emailed to me soon after and I have a brand new light. I am really very impressed at the level of care and support given by Meikee. Hopefully this newer model will last a lot longer. Regardless of the disappointment of the first unit failing after 2 years, their rapid response has been exceptional. For that alone, I’d definitely buy from Meikee again.
This is a great little unit, which has 3 different switches for the sensor – 1) time on, 2) LUX and 3) sensitivity. Despite the advertised switch for ‘timer’ being selectable between 10S-45S-120S-600S, the unit does not have this as a selectable setting – it’s on a dial with no real indication of how long the light will stay on, so it’s trial and error. That said, it’s still pretty good. I just wish I received what was advertised.
I bought this to replace an existing outdated halogen unit, and wanted to make use of the existing wiring. However, the wiring on the new unit is sealed inside the unit, so I had to buy a separate IP66 rated junction box separately to accommodate the existing power cable. No big deal, but you should know this if you are expecting to replace an existing unit.
If the unit came as advertised it would be a 10/10 from me, so 9.5 / 10. Still great unit, and exceptional value too.
This is a clear white light that lights up my garden perfectly without lighting up the neighbourhood like some halogen ones! It works just as I want it to and the price is good as well. Highly recommend it!
This replaced an old fashioned filament bulb lamp in our yard. This light is very small and hardly weighs anything so it’s fairly easy to put up. It sits, mounted on a plain thin metal bracket with two bolt fixings. The lead connected to my existing feed with a weather proof connection box.
There is a little bit of trial and error adjusting the controls on the bottom of the light for the amount of light, the duration it’s on and the motion sensitivity but it was straight forward.
I was concerned when I opened the box that this small light would not be enough to light up our back yard but it did the job no problem. Our yard space is roughly 10 metres by five.
It is a great value PIR 10W LED, and its IP65. Some other brands are a lower IP rating. IP65 is waterproof which this product is. The only design flaw is the uncertainty of the three switches on the PIR Lux Sen time. You have doubts which direction to place the switch the achieve the setting you require when choosing your settings, also this can be compounded with the light coming on and staying on during daytime install with numerous visits to the PIR to change the setting “is it this way or the other way to the Moon or the sun? Perhaps a better LARGER graphic in the setup manual would put the installers mind at rest. Remember some PIR’s need several mins (time setting) to settle down. All is all a good product. I have three now and nearly two years in for two of them.
Great light for its cost and size. Bought to replace an ancient 1 that would never go out and was sick of replacing bulbs. When received (next day) i was suprised at the size, half size of old 1, but very impressed with the brightness and coverage. Gonna buy another 2 for side and back of house. Install was easy but i did alrrady have existing hole and socket from old 1. Thanks
Puchased three of these, (one for above garage door, and two for a relative). Attractive design and compact, IP66 rated and lumen output for 10W unit higher than some other types. This upgraded version has 1.5m cable length making installation very easy. Only installed first one yesterday, easy to set up and very bright, (replaces old holagen unit). Comes with a two year warranty so shouldn’t be an issue.
Had one query and supplier responded by email in less than two hours, great service (it was our error, not the product).
I bought this to put up as a security light on the front of the house but ended up using to light the loft. Its very bright and I’ve used it a number of times now and not has any problems, it doesn’t even get too hot when used for a while.
Are great
Had no probs with installing in afternoon and they wer working for night .
Would buy again
With a speedy response from the company
On when I would get my product and details on how to contact if I had any issues with the lights.
Great service
Bought as a replacement to a recently purchased B&Q LED light which failed within weeks due to rainwater ingress through the cable gland. Light comes already pre-wired with a robust cable gland with more than sufficient cable for connection to existing light system. |The PIR detector can be rotated horizontally and as well as vertically which was ideal for my application as I wanted it to monitor an area to the right of the light and not directly in front. One minor criticism is the accompanying installation instructions show the PIR detector control knobs in a different layout to that actually on the detector. This initially lead to some confusion in setting up the operation of the light as I was adjusting the controls based on the manual layout. I gave only 3 stars for durability as it was only recently installed and cannot reliably comment on this feature at present.
Product used as a replacement security light and as such it appears to perform well and was easy to install with a good length of cable.
It gives an adequate area of light, as a cold white light, which was not mentioned on the specifications , or on the box. This should have been as in preference I would have chosen a warm white light , as was the light it replaced.
Very bright, responsive and functional. The only thing is it comes with ready made flex and plug but I needed it to be going to my mains. So we had to adapt it with a junction box in the garage. Would be perfect if designed for mains. Not sure when anyone would ever plug it straight in to a wall socket. Works really well though and nice and small and simple so I’m very impressed now it’s fitted.
Was impressed at first sight of product, pleased that it was not too bulky and looked well designed and compact and that bolts retaining the light to bracket looked like stainless steel. The security lamp was purchased to replace a previous light on the outside of a garden shed. I noted that previous reviewers said that the cable attached to the sealed unit was too short but I did not find this a problem as I only needed to attach it to a cable that was already in place from the previous light fitting and connected it inside the shed using a terminal block but will probably replace this with a fused spur switch at a later date.
After initially trying to install it outside on a freezing cold day with very numb and frozen fingers, the light switched on as expected when first connected to the supply but the PIR kept failing and it looked like it was working intermittently. I was planning to return it to supplier as faulty but decided to disconnect it and set it up in my garage connected to a 3 pin plug and it worked perfectly. When I was disconnecting the unit I had noticed previously that the screw in the terminal block left an impression on the live cable covering and this had resulted in a poor connection. The reason for this was that cable ends covered in solder are way too short and could do with being a couple of mm longer to ensure that it gives a positive connection. I gave the product only 4 stars for this reason and in hindsight I would recommend any new purchasers to initially try the light out indoors connected to a 3 pin plug and after stripping back a few more mm of the cable covering to make sure you have a good positive connection to make sure it works. Otherwise I am very pleased with the final fitting and now working perfectly and would recommend this product.
This replaces a halogen floodlight at a fraction of the running cost. It is quite cheap and was delivered promptly. It see,ms to work well detecting movement and the duration, detection range and light conditions for activity settings are all clear and easy to adjust. I have given 4 stars for durability but cannot really comment on this as I have only had it for a few days, but it should last several years and has a good guarantee.
After having to replace 2 previous security lights in quick succession I decided to chage to this MEIKEE option. After wondering why the previous 2 failed quickly I realised the importance of the IP ratings (basically how waterproof they are!). My previous ones were IP44 whereas this MEIKEE one is IP66 which makes a big difference. Check an IP ratings website to see what the difference is. This light has a decent length of pre-cabled cable, it is a sealed unit so you will have to use a connection box either indoor or outdoor depending how far the cable reaches.
So far so good and I hope it lasts!
Got two of these to replace old halogen floods that were no longer working. Installation was super easy, mostly because I already had the wiring and mounting holes in place to work with. For my installation, the wires were spliced together outside, so I needed to get some weather-proof junction connectors (electrical tape just wouldn’t be good enough).
The light is bright and covers a good area. I have them mounted about 3 meters up the wall and the motion sensitivity set to about 85%. Detects motion at least 10 meters out (that’s all I’ve measured it to). I haven’t had any issues at all with them — but I don’t leave them on 24/7, I only turn them on at night.
Definitely waterproof. They’ve been lashed by heavy rains and strong winds several times since installing them, and they still work great.
An excellent product, giving much better light output than previous lights I have used. Also handy to have a good length of cable attached rather than a short one that can barely reach a junction box. Can’t comment on duarbility as it has only been installed for three days.
I now have 5 of these lights around the house and garden and they’re great value for money. They are economical to use and easy to set up providing you alter the right control, I thought I had a faulty one as I couldn’t alter the time that it stayed on but after getting a torch I soon realised that I was altering the wrong control. I have the 10w led type and they’re much brighter than what you would think for their size. They’re compact, robust and they haven’t faltered once.
My old outside light with motion detection finally gave up the ghost after 20 years of great service. As the nights are drawing in I need a replacement fast as there are steps to the house that when dark are hard to navigate. I saw this and thought it would be a good temporary replacement. When it arrived I was surprised how small it was (compared to 20+ year technology). Fitted it easily. With the sensor to be on all day I soon set up the time the light stayed on and the sensor coverage. Once done back to night mode only. I was surprised how bright the little unit gave. It will be staying as long as it lasts.
Bought this for my Nan and Grandad as I found out it gets quite dark in their back garden and don’t want them hurting themselves in the dark if they go out.
Firstly, the light itself is very bright, almost daylight out there. The motion sensor is good too, as long as you angle it correctly. It’s tricky getting the timing right though. Guess it’s down to trial and error.
One thing I disliked though is the cable. It’s far too short to be able to do anything with it. So I had to dismantle it and put in a longer cable. I’d pay more if the cable was at least 2 metres long. But it’s more like 40cm, then once it’s throgh the wall, you have about 20cm of cable, unless you have a socket on the other side of the wall in the right place, the shirt cable is useless.
Otherwise it’s a decent enough light especially for the price.
After a recent experience of 5 out of a batch of 6 similar lights from another supplier failing within days of installation I am, so far, encouraged by this product. Time will tell, but I was greatly impressed by the packaging, by the instructions supplied, and by the comparative ease of setting it up.
I dropped it from about 3 metres up whilst up a ladder trying to install it and it survived unscathed. It worked perfectly after installation and it’s detection range is spot on. I do not expect to have to replace this for a *very* long time, unlike the halogen unit it replaced which needed attention annually. Also, being LED-based, it uses a fraction of the electricity that the old 300W halogen unit it replaced used to (and is plenty bright enough).
I like the modern design of these lights, they are less bulky then the older type. They provide a very bright light and the sensor is excellent. I am now planning to replace other spot light lights in the garden with the same make.
Didn’t need a light to powerful as already had existing light, this was for extra coverage, so 10W was plenty. Nice and easy to install, connected to power supply using extender plug connector. 3 dials on the unit, time, detection and daylight/night time select. It does provide good light coverage though.
The 1st unit did fail shortly after installation, came on then suddenly went off, rather annoying, but the customer service was excellent. Sent an email to them via Amazon, I got a reply very quickly, link included and code for replacement free of charge, as I have Prime it was there the next day.
The new unit is working great, very happy, and thinking of replacing family members light with one of these.
Excellent security light, bought to light up my drive, works as good as original floodlight, providing perfect light to see in the dark. Sensitivity can be adjusted, along with lux and time, so perfect for individual preference. Great purchase will buy another for garage door.
Looks to be very well made. The main lamp housing and bracket is all metal and the sensor housing a sturdy plastic. The sensor housing has plenty of directional adjustment. First impressions look to be well sealed and the LED technology should I hope be more reliable in the cold than halogen based lights. The Lux, timer and sensitivity adjustments work well. Good area of detection. Sufficiently bright enough to illuminate the patio area which is adequate for lighting the way with a clear soft light for these dark winter nights, I have the timer set for 30 secs operating on time and set for turning on when nearly full darkness which is adequate for lighting the way. Of course at 10 watts power consumption is very low. I have the beam pointing quite a way downwards to avoid nuisance. Only just installed so long term relaibility as yet unknown. Sufficient cable to pass through the wall to inside for wiring up. If I were to make recommendations to the manufacturer they would be to make the mounting bracket with horizontal adjustment as well as the vertical so as to be able to direct the beam and better instructions for setting up with mention to use a 3A fuse when cabling up. Cabling requires earth wire so bear in mind if intending to connect to a lighting circuit. If you set the sensitivity a little too high then I found once triggered tended to turn back on after going off… Just turned it down a little
I have just replaced an old halogen light with a 400w lamp with 2 of these 10w security lights, thats a saving of 80% power consumption. They are very easy to set up if you have an existing outdoor power supply. I have set mine to night time only activation with a duration of around 6 minutes on after trigger by the sensor. The area they light up is around 30ft X 40ft and is adequate without annoying the neighbours with excessive light pollution. As the led bulbs cannot be replaced I do not know how long they will last so the Jury is out on that one. But they do have a 12 month guarantee. Once installed I would recommend a good smothering of vaseline or white grease on the metal parts but not on the sensor or glass lens.
Smashing little light which serves its purpose very well. I purchased this as a light for my back garden as we live in a very darkened area with zero lighting at the back of our property. This light may not be the brightest, but it works great and lights up my patio area nicely. Very easy to install, although I had my Brother in law install mine, and hasn’t faltered me since.
Last summer i was sitting in the garden one evening and thought how warm it still was but it was time to go in as the only light i had was from my phone screen. So with spring here this year, i decided to purchase an outdoor security light. I had a friend install it (he’s an electrician) and he had it up and running in about 45 minutes.
That night i popped into the garden and was amazed at how much light this thing can produce.
Brilliant item and well worth the price.
The light arrived promptly and boxed exactly as shown in another reviewers pictures. Firstly with LED its hard to get your mind around 10W giving you the same lux as a 60W. Personally i would say this lights more like an 80-100 watt bulb when standing under it. I had a 500 halogen before so its like chalk and cheese but the idea is to light the dark path and door outside at night so i can find keys and get into the house and this it does well for 10W. Save money on electricity and blinding ur neighbours too. It is smaller than you might think from the pictures. The back plate at the point of ingress of the cables has four chromed screws and compresses a seal against the body to maintain a water tight fit..the cable is sealed by a compression ring. I was hoping the cables inside would be terminated by screw fastenings so i could remove the cable fitted. I wanted..for ease..to use the existing cable to the old light. This had terminated in the old light in a cheese block and took seconds to unscrew after 20 years up on the wall. Unfortunately the new light has crimps sealed with poly caps. The only way would have been to cut wires which i didnt want to do on a new light. 60-90cm of cable as supplied is really not enough cable. It barely gets you across the house wall cavity..that is what it does. You then have to start terminating under your floor boards. This meant ripping up bedroom carpet..taking up floor boards..a cupboard door off..searching for a termination block etc and being cramped double upside down under the floor once i had got the new units cable across the cavity which is never as simple as it should be. Can you see how just being able to fasten in the existing cable would have made fitting so much easier.
The bracket supplied is ample in rigidity to take the load of tge unit. However.. there is little clearance between the bracket and tge bottom of the PIR. Think for a moment? The braket is U shaped. If u have the bracket mounted to a vertical surface unless you want the light shining in ur face the light to one extent or another will need rotating to 90 degrees to point down wards.! You may wish to annoy your neighbours by lighting their garden too but i feel most of us use this light to illuminate tge area under which you have mounted it not to blind someone approaching the light. Also this angle affects the scope of detection of the sensor..more later. Anyway u want the light pointing down using a U shaped bracket and when you rotaye it down the PIR causes a foul condition with the cable if you route it through the hole kindly drilled central in the bracket base. The PIR hits it when the light is 90 deg downwards. If you mounted the bracket to a wall then drilled the wall for the cable with the bracket in situ then came to remount the light and swung it..i can imagine being annoyed. So id suggest having a cable entry into a wall above the bracket and not through the bracket as drilled. There are 3 variable potentiometers on the base of the PIR. Pointing tge light down tgey get hidden for adjustment. You have to keep tge light loose and fiddle with them until ur settings are correct before tightening the pivot bolts. 2 of the 3..outside 2 the middle one is for duration of time the light stays on…the outside 2 are both sensitivity…i think one is for daylight sensitivity but as yet im not sure . It appears one turns the light off completely..you might think the light is broken as it will not work in one condition. I find them hard to read..to see..in an awkward place..hard to get large fingers on and they rotate outside the markex zone on the moukding..please see photos supplied by other reviewers..in a photo theyvlook great..up a ladder in daylight ..pivotted against a wall its very hard to see. A nice light..works well..cheap to run..reasonable build standard..needs other parts to mount and connect succesfully. Hope this helps people???
Easy to set up considering wiring was already there.
Exactly what I needed.
Small and compact but bright enough to light up the garden path.
You can adjust the length of time the sensitivity and has a night and day dial too.
Update : almost 1 year later it gave up does not work .
