I’m happy with product, it’s what I thought it would be, not quite as bassy as what’s on videos but does it’s job. I just wanted something to play so my drums didn’t always take over with sound, great product.
This is my first cajon but I’m by far disappointed with the quality or sound. Would highly recommend for anyone playing with percussion.
Felicissimo. Primo acquisto su warehouse. Oggetto nuovo con etichetta, solo scatola esterna rovinata. Risparmiato 50. Proprio contento! Il cajon divertentissimo. Mio figlio mi accompagna alla chitarra da subito.
Se lo trovate usato da Amazon non esitate a prenderlo. Secondo me qualcuno che l’ha reso senza manco aprirlo.
This is a great sounding piece of kit and will allow our band to do a small gig without the need for our drummer who cant make it. I am not a ‘drummer’ as such but as long as you can keep a good beat along with the rhythm, i believe you could use this.
The basics are simple but the first thing you need to do is reach inside for the small allen key.
Its attached to the inside and you need to loosen the bottom of the cajon as there is a piece holding the wires inside tight, for transporting it. You loosen it by about half a turn or more depending on the sound you need.
The easiest way to explain ‘as a beginner’ myself, is that there are 3 main areas you hit with the flat of your hand. This gives a base sound and two snare drum sounds. Technically that’s not true as there are many sounds you can achieve but I am a beginner myself.
I suggest youtube to learn some patterns but I have had it for a week now and fell comfortable now with my progress.
The cajon is well made and looks good. The sound is superb. It has a good bass drum sound and the snare sound is excellent. Our drummer tried it and he said he thought it was a good piece of kit.
Our intention is to mic the unit up and play through sound desk but its also loud enough to play at home or for an intimate gig with friends.
I read a few reviews which stated the Cajon was damaged on arrival. Mine came well packaged in a really sturdy box. For the money, I would certainly recommend it. Good for beginners or professional players.
Please note that I am not a drummer. I play table top drums much to the annoyance of my better half, therefore some of the terminology I use in my review, may not be accurate as such.
This is my first time playing a Cajon in a Worship Band. It has a great sound and blend well with the other instruments. A joy to play.
– use this product at our church kids ministry
– works perfect for adults AND kids
– anyone can jump on to lea
I’d like to point out that Meinl,, a German company that produces many instruments in Europe, made a point of stating that this cajon was not made in China in their ad. One would assume then, that this instrument was produced in Germany, where the company resides. Sadly, this is not true. This instrument is actually produced in Thailand. With that said, however, the craftsmanship seems to be of high quality for a mass produced item. The tone is good, but I wish there were a greater differentiation between tonal quality based on where you strike the instrument. Basically, I get 2 tones, a bass and a snare, with the snare sound feeling a bit hollow, lacking sizzle. In contrast, the Bass tone also sizzles a bit, It would be nice if there were more separation between the two. I guess you can only ask so much in this price range, and if I were to buy another, I would pay a bit more to have the ability to adjust the snare. All in all, this is a nice instrument for a beginner like me.
Not all boxes are the same! This is very good quality and for the money, was very good value. The finish on the sides, back and top are done in a very durable black finish and the main ‘skin’ is stained to a lovely brown with the wood grain showing through.
The Cajon comes with its own adjustment Allen key for the drum springs and there is a cool little holder for this at the back, just insider the sound hole.
All in all it is a great package, very well built and looks the part. Meini, obviously have a history with percussion instruments. This unit can also be expanded with a bass pedal and a mini snare drum.
Nice beginner piece. Don’t expect a pro level instrument at this price. Very good for practice. Will do in a pinch for acoustic shows.
Nice cabin, well made, beautiful looking. Would have loved the snare sound to be a bit crisper though.
Great instrument for the price! Well made and great sound. Fun for adults and kids to play and not too heavy! I surprised my husband( a music major and former worship leader/ conductor)with this for his birthday and he loves it! We Recommend this product!
Bought as a seat for my home office with a pad, great alternative to a stool, foot rest, side table; love a little jam
I’ve only played it for a few minutes but it sounds great!
Bought this cajon on recommendation of my local music shop; was assured that it would fit my needs and it did. Bought to use in a immersive theatre show for children. Crisp clear sound and easy to set up.
Surprised with the acoustic sound quality ! Sounds even better mic’d up … also has a nice playing surface , almost feels soft for the hands
I bought this cajon to have a portable drum in college, that could also act as a seat in my dorm.
As a relatively tall guy, it isn’t difficult/uncomfortable to bend over and play using my hands. I dont feel like I’m hunched over.
Really bass-y nice sound, even with small taps and light hits!
Nice tone and construction. The top, bottom, and sides have a speckle finish that is fabulous for brushes. I sit on a drum seat, put the cajon on the floor on top of a Meinl seat pad and lean it back to play. There’s was bit of a buzz that went away after I tightened the strings and I put a small pillow inside… I’m using it with a Roland EC-10M module. I’m very happy with this cajon.
My son loves it. He informs me it’s excellent quality.
I love this Cajon!! I use it every Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday for youth group activities. The sound is amazing. The price is outstanding
I play in two settings where a cajon is already on stage and wanted to be able to practice the specific instrument without spending too much, so I went for this one. For the money, it’s great. Fit and finish are excellent. It’s sturdy enough that I’m not worried about my kids hurting it. Design/color looks great. Sound is decent. Bass not as warm and touches and slaps not as distinct as nicer ones I’ve played, even after “tuning,” but it’s great for playing at home or gigs where the focus is on other instruments/voices which is pretty much all the time for percussionists. Not sure I’d record anything but a demo with it, but for almost anything else, why spend more?
Loads of fun. Needs a good tuning when it arrives. Check online for guides. Mine didn’t come with an Allen’s wrench.
Edit: after playing this Cajon for a few weeks, I’ve found the bass to be very rattly despite all the available tuning options. I would advise beginners to go for a Cajon with strings positioned at the top of the box only, such as the schlagwerx range available on Amazon. I played the latter alongside my own and found it to be much more well designed and it produced a better sound overall.
Super useful/fun thing to have around for a novice noise maker! I tried tuning it and haven’t really experienced a much better sound. It could be there is something I’m missing but almost every hit is going to have that “snare” sound.
The kick on this thing is MUCH louder than I thought which is awesome! It can keep up with many other people playing instruments around you.
My young musician friend absolutely loves this. Good value too.
within 20 minutes of light use the grip on the footplate had cracked and detached . looked very shabby. Sent photos.no further action taken by provider.
Great sound from Cajon and my boyfriend enjoys playing it.
Not disappointed, but not wowed either. A little smaller than I thought, but I didn’t look closely at the dimensions.
I’ve never played a Cajon before this one but I loved it from the moment I laid a hand on it. It’s just fun to beat around on!
Excellent piece of drum kit! This has become a must for all our family gatherings. It can produce great sound!
Great cajon! It is built very well and the sound is no e. I do wish it had a little more snare hit, bit overall a great buy.
This Cajon was a perfect fit for us. It’s light and portable, but has a great sound when mic’d up. There’s nothing fancy about it, but if you are looking for a no frills cajon that does exactly what you want it to do… look no further. Meinl has great products that always have a dependable quality.
Despite being new to the cajon, I have been playing drums for around 10 years. Luckily the skill of hitting things is transferable!
This cajon is considered ‘mid-range’ due to its price but I find that it competes with some of the other more expensive ones, too. It seems like every gig that I use it I am complimented on the sound of it. It comes with a tuning key to fine tune the strings inside and the size makes it comfortable to sit on. Great for gigs!
My wife and just learning to play and she loves it. With a little bit of tuning (wrench included) it sounds fantastic. I suspect we will get many years of great play from it. According to the drummers I know, Meinl is really the gold standard for cajons and this one will serve my wife well.
